2/7/22 - Needs Recoded to Preventative (acct [protected])
I have been trying to get MH Billing to recode my 2/7/22 claim to "preventative". I emailed "patient.[protected]@memorialhermann.org" on 3/12/22 and 4/26/22 and included another copy of the doctor's order. MH Billing finally responded by calling me in late April but the lady REFUSED to address the issue. She said they don't do it and "I" must speak with the coding department. I refused and told her if MH wanted their money, she'd need to send the information I emailed to the coding dept and I hung up. All other medical facility billing departments have ALWAYS been the ones to ensure recoding was done.
Your immediate attention to resolving this issue is appreciated.

Desired outcome: recode claim as preventative and correct account to $0
Dr. Charles Hebenstreit
I rarely write a one-star review on anyone or anything because I give the person or product maker ample opportunity to make a bad experience right. Bear with me and read this review all the way to get as full of a picture as I can give about how Dr. Charles Hebenstreit with Memorial Herrmann Hospital System, his staff and contract partners handcuffed my wrists to my ankles, taking hundreds of dollars of my money and gave me nothing in return.
In February 2022, at the referral from my psychiatrist made an appointment with Dr. Hebenstreit to be evaluated for sleep apnea. Between my initial appointment, picking up equipment for home sleep study and follow-up for the sleep apnea diagnosis, I paid $325, through Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance. I saw the doctor for a combined 20 minutes, spending more time in the waiting room than in an exam room.
I was told briefly and without explanation about the CPAP shortage and that I would be waiting 2-3 months for a machine. I was told the DME company, Arrow Care/Adapt Health would contact me within about a week to give me more details. To make a long story short, over the course of three months, I contacted the DME Co. roughly 12 times and Dr. Herbstreit’s office at least 6 times for answers on when I could expect a call back from my service rep and got no answer and no call back. Finally on May 10th, 2022, I was told by Arrow Care/Adapt Health they did not accept my insurance. Once again, no one at Dr. Charles Herbstreit’s office could tell me why he accepted my insurance but worked with only one DME that did not accept the same insurance.
I am now starting the whole process over with another doctor but there’s a good chance I will have to wait another 2-3 months for a CPAP machine since I’ll be at the back of the line. My name is David Spires and I now know why Dr. Charles Hebenstreit wears a mask… So he’s harder to identify when he robs you of your time and money and gives you nothing in return. In my opinion, unscrupulous, only begins to describe Dr. Charles Hebenstreit with Memorial Herrmann Hospital System
Desired outcome: More patient relations education and my copays refunded.
Quality of care
I arrived at the memorial Herman emergency room around 11:40 am. I was told to go to the emergency room from the nurse help line at memorial Herman. When I arrived I let them know I was in pain. Anybody who came in contact with me I was telling that I was in severe pain and that I don’t know how much longer I could deal with it. No one ever gave me any type of medication nor did they even offer. I sat in the er for over 4 hours in pain. When u finally asked to leave they all of a sudden had my results back in which I still didn’t get.I was crying for help and no one helped me. As soon as I left I went to another place and was helped
Desired outcome: Lawsuit in the making. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I currently work in the medical field and I’m well aware of my rights and what actions can and will be taken.
ER Visit to Greater Heights Memorial Hermann
To Whom It May Concern:
I went to Memorial Herman ER on July 31, 2021 for GI issues. During my time at the ER I was evaluated by a nurse and had blood drawn. I am now receiving bills for being treated by a doctor separate from the hospital bill. At no time during my visit did a doctor so much as put a stethoscope on me much less perform any sort of examination. As a matter of fact, the person gathering all of my information so I could be billed spent more time with me and asked more questions (even about my condition) than any of the medical “professionals”.
During a conversation with my personal GI doctor I was asked if they performed an appropriate exam for my condition and symptoms. When I told him I received no examination at all he expressed surprise and disappointment. Fortunately, I was able to get in and see my personal doctor and a coloscopy was ordered where he discovered four polyps.
My girlfriend, a licensed Nurse Practitioner and former ER nurse, was present and a witness to this experience. She too was puzzled and surprised at the lack of care I and others in the ER received.
Due to the lack of care, lack of an appropriate examination by a doctor, and being ignored for over 8 hours I find it unreasonable that I am being billed for services from a doctor.
This is a request to have all fees related to this experience removed. While I would rather not have to file formal complaints, I will if this can’t be resolved. I am prepared to contact the following agencies in addition to any others deemed appropriate.
Desired outcome: Delete any bills related to this visit
death
I would like to speak to someone about my mothers death.
name: JANETTE PITTMAN
SURGERY: ANKLE
DOS: 8/12/21 OR 8/11/21
DOB: 8/29/63
Desired outcome: ANSWERS
I find this facility as as illegal operation , with basically no administrator other than a total goofball. They need to re evaluate their staff and be more responsible. All they do now is search for scapegoats 24/7
Im so sorry your momma was taken from you. Did you ever get answers? My mom died 8/17/21 at memorial hermann southeast.
Thank you! I’m sorry for your loss as well. Nope, no answers. Memorial Herman did reach out and say it wasn’t their fault or facilities fault bc they didn’t do the surgery the surgeon did lol and they are only the facility (eye roll)
Wow. They shouldn't allow [censored] surgeons to operate on their patients. My email is kristanelyse@icloud.com If you get a moment, shoot me an email. I was able to get information on what they did to my mom. I cant disclose how on here but It is possible for you as well.
Wrongfull Treatment, NO DIGNITY and RESPECT At ALL.
To WHOM IT MIGHT CONCERN:
Yesterday 4/29, I made the decision due to an emergency situation to make a choice of taking my sister to your hospital in the Woodlands Texas area. I have been an active patient of your hospital for many years, but I have never been so disgustingly treated by your staff and your personnel. I must agree that after 2020 your health system has become from a 5 star hospital to a KILLING Ward.
We got there at 2:30pm, my sister since the beginning was skeptical due to her age to go to the hospital due to the millions of stories of people in good health walking for some other issues to any hospital in the USA and dying in the hands of those that were supposed to assist them.
Your Check in area discussing, dirty and people there waiting for many hours. The first issue that WE FACED was with your Spanish Speaker registrar, that had the early shift, she was rude to me when I wanted to turn in the urine test and the list of medications that the Triage Nurse requested. HER and her co-worker Christina were making a great difference in treatment between the American Anglo and the Hispanics that were in the ER area. They will scream at us in Spanish and denigrated us completely, like if we were cows or some type of ignorant people. They were so in respectful towards us, that we could not even make sense of what it was happening, and we were not the only ones.
The time that it took to find out the results of my sister illness was approximately 10hrs. I reported the the Charge Nurse the treatment given to us by the registration ER admin personnel and that the long wait was ridiculous and she was not even concern about the issue. She eventually stated that it was not her department but that she was going to speak with them. It got to the point that my sister had to scream at CHRISTINA because she was so RUDE and UN respectful.
Finally at 12am after 9hrs of pain and waiting, my Sister was admitted and then after that not only the front personnel was screaming a us but the DRS, a Chinese Dr. Started Screaming at My Sister like if we had not understanding of what they were doing. My sister was bullied, and she was scare of her life. She was in pain and uncomfortable for not being able to eat for 3 days or eat as well.
There was no dignity or respect towards not only my Sister, but I saw the same thing done to other couples or patients that were really walking out with IVs on them, due to the lack of professionalism and integrity from the front staff in the ER, at Hospital, a hospital that I used to LOVE. I am requesting a review from your office in regards to my case. I am a Radio/Podcast HOST of A SHOW in Montgomery County, and I will go publicly if no one will contact me and my Sister and apologize in regards to the WORST night mare we both have lived in the last months.
We are humans regardless of our ethnicity, language and diversity of of the color of our skin. we diverse the right treatment with dignity and respect from your employees and personnel in the hospital AT ALL TIMES. When someone is SICK compassion needs to be implemented, and NO ONE YESTERDAY HAD compassion with me, my sister and several of us that we were waiting in the ER for almost 10hrs.
AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE THIS EMAIL, YOU ARE ABLE TO CONTACT ME AT [protected]. I WILL GIVE 20DAYS NOTICE IN REGARDS TO THIS COMPLAINT, IF A PROPER APOLOGY HAS NOT BEEN DONE and RETRIBUTION OF SOME HOW, I WILL MAKE SURE THAT MH OF THE WOODLANDS WILL BE EXPOSED FOR THEIR WRONGFUL TREATMENT GIVEN TO ME AND MY FAMILY and the in humane conditions and treatment of patients, of their new renovated hospital.

Desired outcome: I AM DEMANDING A PROPER PUBLIC AND WRITTEN APOLOGY AND RETRIBUTION OR COMPENSATION IN REGARDS TO THE WRONGFUL TREATMENT GIVEN TO MY SISTER AND ME. THANKS,
This is horrible and unacceptable... I'm experiencing the displeasures of Memorial Hermann in the medical center with the care of my mother. Such blatant disrespect for people of color/ethnicities which is against patient rights but yet they disregard code of ethics too often with certain "groups" of people. Whom do I properly file a complaint with? Maybe these matters/issues should be voiced via social media, podcast/radio or the news. I don't know where to begin but I'm going to start somewhere and keep reaching different department heads and beyond, the level of mediocre treatment and disrespect from such "prominent" medical facility is appalling and a danger to one's well being. 9/7/2022

ER Visit League City location
I went to the Memorial Hermann Convenient Care in League City to remove a large splinter on April 10, 2022. My girlfriend and I walked in and went through the covid protocol, and my girlfriend asked the woman who checked our temps at the front which way urgent care was, she said it was to the left. So I check in at the front desk, and we sit in the waiting room. The nurse comes to get me, I see the doctor and they will not get the splinter out even though there was a hole where the splinter was and my thumb was protruding so you could see something was stuck in it. The doctor gave me a tetanus shot and ibuprofen, told me she could refer me to a hand surgeon, THEN SLAPPED ME WITH A $1,000 ER BILL! Who should pay a $1,000 bill for a tetanus shot and ibuprofen? My girlfriend called around and found a doctor who removed my splinter the very next day, and it was a huge splinter. Had the woman at the front who checked me in told me what I was going to get charged, I would've walked right out without ibuprofen and a a shot. Shame on this hospital for not telling me the ridiculous bill I would get ahead of time.
Desired outcome: I do not think I should have to pay the $1,000 bill for a shot and ibuprofen.
Hospital care
My mother-in-law has been at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy for over 10 days the staff is extremely rude and belligerent, verbally threatening, treating the family as if they are two year olds threatening to take the privilege of seeing their dying mother, this is a mockery the worst caregivers on the face of this planet, This is not a hospital it is a penitentiary even prisoners in the families have more rights, I wish no one would experience what we are experiencing.
Billing - CoPay for 2 view Shoulder X-ray
Employee Insured through MHHS
Shoulder X-Ray Ordered in December 2021
Attempted to get scheduled for X-Ray prior to 1/02/2022 as relocating out of state - and insurance would lapse
MHHS with multiple calls and attempts and 16 facilities, multiple OP facilities , and lack of response to scheduling request couldn't do until 01/05/2022.
Due to "THEIR" inept scheduling process, and lack of response to request for scheduling .. I am being charged much higher than routine CoPay at amount of $299.00
i have written 2 letters , NO RESPNSE , even used MHHS e-mail to Rick Lyman VP Finance NO RESPONSE .
Have called multiple times - get "service' they cant help , other than threaten collector, They transfer to MHHS business office, either no answer l leave message or they say "We are busy on M,T and F, try calling on a W or Th. ? Pathetic . No help, No Live person, and Outrageous CoPay
Desired outcome: Reasonable Co-Pay for a 5 minute procedure of 2 film routine shoulder x-ray. what I would of paid if it was scheduled in a timely manner while still there FT as employee with insurance .
Sharing private information
I was an inpatient from 08/21 to 0/26. The nurse Grace Allen has used my social security number and has shared with others. She has called try to contact past creditors. She is right now attempting to do just that. I am filing this complaint because she has destroyed my credit This needs immediate action. This also put in financial difficulties.
Memorial Hermann The Woodlands ER Inadequate Care
If I could give less than a 1 star I would. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
My son was recently in the ER on a psych hold and was treated inhumanely. After "being gone for 5 days" - doctors own words - Dr. Bublewicz told me he was responsible for my son's care. When I confronted him about the lousy care my son had received over the previous 5 days and began to describe it, he ordered me out of the hospital and walked away.
Over the 6 days my son was in the ER his condition worsened every day.
The staff failed to follow standard protocols for psych patients; refused to honor my POA; refused to provide information on his treatment plan; and failed to forward clinicals so he could be transferred to a more appropriate hospital. They even refused to provide liquids until he became dehydrated and needed an IV. Every shift change resulted in a new excuse about what they were doing to care for him.
Final result was me refusing to leave after Dr. Bublewicz refused to talk with me about my son and the inadequate care he was receiving. I was then escorted from facility by 4 security officers and 2 police officers.
ABSOLUTELY NO ONE RETURNED MY CALLS from legal to risk management to patient relations to the psych coordinator. Disgusting!
How can a doctor be responsible for a patient's care when they haven't even been in the hospital when the patient was there? And then treat someone who is advocating for appropriate care - and had the legal documents to do so - as if they were a speck of dirt on the bottom of his shoe. I will NEVER go to this ER again! And Dr. Bublewicz SHOULD NOT be trusted!
Billing
Had to go to emergency room at MHH. After received the bill, called the billing department to set up a payment plan.
Agree to set up 5 years plan. Always pay “On Time” with “Automatic Withdraw”.
Everything was fine for almost 2 years (still pay on time every month). Suddenly received a letter from collection company that I have to pay off the remaining balance.
Called MHH Billing department, the lady from customer service told me that just disregard the letter and the account is still with MHH.
Called the collection company to find out what is happening. They told me that MHH send them the account to collect the debt. I told them that I am on the payment plan with MHH and still making payment “on time” every month. They just said that I have to pay the remaining balance.
I was so confused so I called MHH billing department again. This time they told me that I have to take care the bill with Collection Company.
I asked why and what happened because I am still on the payment plan as agreement and pay on time. No reply and hang up the phone.
I feel so disappointed. I can’t believe MHH would do something like that to patient. They suppose to take care of the patient instead to put them in the bad situation.
I hope this message will warn other. Think again if you want to go with MHH.
Unprofessional staff at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land
Hi, I wanted to get prior authorization (thats what Community Health Choice was requiring) to order transport services for my grandmother to remove her drainage which the doctor when she came to ER. Most of the staff sounded not too familiar with the word 'Prior authorization' and how to obtain or the relevant people to transfer to that helps in this regard. I was told 'we don't with that', ' I have to research who can assist you', 'what do the insurance want from us', and finally when someone called me, they said would need the consent from my 86 year old bedridden grandmother that does not speak english (which apparently was not needed when someone would discuss her medication, her scheduling, etc).
This is a horrible experience which resulted in my grandmother being transported in the car in very unfavorable circumstances. The staff need to be better trained to deal with how to request prior authorizations and not make excuses of not being familiar or we don't deal with it.
You can reach me at [protected] to discuss this matter.
Thanks,

My mother broke her tibia and was taken to the hospital emergency area. Due to the hospital not having any beds available, my mother was put on a bed and rolled out in a hallway where the staff attempted to cast her leg. It was a traumatizing experience for me to hear her scream in agony with everyone around frowning at what was happening to this elderly woman in public. They tried to perform this procedure without giving her anything to calm her nerves or help with the pain. After this didn't work, they finally decided to put her under to do the procedure.
When she returned home and developed a problem swallowing, I called her doctor. The doctor ordered a swallowing test for my mother. Days went by before I received a call from the lab technician informing me that the test required a person to be able to stand while test was being performed. Since my mother could not stand due to her broken leg, he suggested that I contact the doctor to order another type of test. I immediately called the doctor and several more days went by
before I received a call back. When the doctor did return the call, they told me that in order to see what was going on with my mother, the swallowing test was needed. The doctor informed me that they would get back with me soon on the next step. After I didn't hear back from the doctor in two days, I began to call several times aday in distress trying to get help. After four more days of no response from the doctor, my mother died.
Im very disturbed by the lack of attention given by the doctor to help my mother or at least tell me the truth of the matter at hand.
I'm so sorry you had this happen. I'll pray for you and highly recommend you sue and leave your story on every social media site you can think of. Cut and paste it daily. Make them wear the shame. The same hallway treatment was given to my son by Herman. THEY MUST BE SHAMED OR THEY WILL CONTINUE.
Sugar land emergency room
My wife and I are at the sugar land location at the emergency room my wife is 9 weeks pregnant she is bleeding and contractions and no one trying to help her we been sitting here for almost 2hours with no help its an emergency and the staff is helping other people that doesnt looked as bad as my wife even noticed that other people who came after us were called first. Im sending this mail expecting someone could help us
Service
I was admitted on Aug. 21 and discharged on Aug. 26 to IMCU for two days. I was in the hospital for five days and it was the most terrifying I ever in encountered. I am ICU nurse for 17 years never received or/and gave. I don't have a lot space, but you will hard copy that depicts my ordeal. The main issues were using my personal information at the nurses' station
and at a private residence and she called some of the creditors
Patient
My brother Eric Evans is currently in Memorial Hermann hospital in the medical center. He passed out at home and they found he has 10% heart function and blockage. The doctors are stating he's medically cleared but they never did a procedure on him to clear up his medical condition. If they release him this constitutes abandonment of the patient.
Patient abandonment is a form of medical malpractice that occurs when a physician terminates the doctor-patient relationship without reasonable notice or a reasonable excuse and fails to provide the patient with an opportunity to find a qualified replacement care provider since he only has 10% heart function and blockage. If they send him home he will die without this procedure. The cardiology department wanted to do the procedure and Dr. Ratcliff said they no longer will do the procedure.
My family needs help and getting treatment for our brother.

Desired outcome: find a qualified replacement care provider
Improper coding level of patient
Boyfriend was brought in by his job after a fall resulting in a knee injury. They had no urgency for his pain level and refused to even give him a Tylenol for his pain and swelling while we waited for hours. Other patients who were at least able to walk were brought in before him. Terrible inefficient ER. We were better off going to an urgent care.
