MultiChoice Africa / DSTV incorrect billing for explora

Good Day,
I contacted DSTV to please make arrangements to come and fetch the explora and dish and cancel the two year contract effective immediately.

I refuse to pay R2276.16. This is pathetic and ridiculous, every single week I contact them with the same query. Literally every Friday or sometimes twice a week since the beginning of March, when I switched over to the explora. If my viewing isn't blocked then I get incorrectly billed.

Last Friday it was supposedly fixed where I had a credit balance of over R900, my balance due for 5 May 2018 was about over R800. And now my balance shows R2276.16. I informed the lady who assisted me last week, that if this continues where I have the same query every week for the next two years, then she must rather cancel everything and come fetch their goods. I'm really fed up, there are incompetent people working in their accounts department who keep billing me incorrectly, then they block my viewing.
I request that they reverse the charges and cancel the explora contract and come fetch their decoder and dish. I have no further interest in DSTV anymore because I'm really fed up with the same ridiculous queries every week. It's never completely resolved resolved, it's really annoying to contact them every week for the past 5-6 weeks regarding the same issues, they resolve the matter at that moment, then a few days later I get billed incorrectly again - so they say that I'm being incorrectly billed for the wrong package and not the explora - they fix it and a few days later the same problem, and so the process continues and repeats.

This has really put me off and therefore I would rather they cancel everything, than me having the same issues and problems for the next two years.

Regards
Eugene Muller

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV refund

I overpayed my subscription on the 31st March 2018 and 3rd April respectively. I was advised to send proof of payment, copy of ID, and proof of account. I could not access the bank or my internet banking at the time. After the bank sent me the proof of payment, I forwarded the following on Saturday 7th April 2018, 11h28:
1. Payslip as proof of banking.
2. Proof of payment (which was Unfortunately privacy locked)
3. The two sides of my ID card.

I received no message from the consultant acknowledging receipt of the documents. Which I followed up on Monday, 9th April 2018, 6h56.

She responded on the same Mondat at 7h02 with a simple "Please be advised I did not receive any documents!"

I resubmitted on Monday at 7h09.

7h27, Her response was that please be advised your email reflects as blocked to receive my email. (I didn't make any sense to me since we were communicating via email)!

I frustratingly asked what is it that I must do at 19h39.

17h51, She advised me to resend the docs.

At 20h05, I realised the proof of payment was locked which cleared what she meant by emails blocked. I apologised for the oversight and re submitted.

09 April 2018, 20h48: please be advised the documents were received and processed the refund. I responded and said my THANK YOU's and was advised to check on Tuesday.

Wednesday, 11th April 2018, 15h37, I informed the Consultant that the funds are not reflecting as yet.

Thursay, 12th April 2018, 7h57: Please be advised I re submitted tbe refund as it was not approved! I will check it for you or will receive a call if there is something wrong!

I acknowledge that I am not your only customer, and that your consultants are not working on my query alone. Not to mention that I do not know when is she at work or not!

I need my refund and it is long overdue.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV price lock account

ID Nr: [protected] Delmanique Pfister
Die Riffel Mondplaas Jeffreys Bay
Tel Nr +[protected]

To whom it may concern,

I have been trying my best from my side to clear the mess DSTV has made on my account.

I joined the price lock plan for two years end of 2015. I had a debit order in place but the debit orders stopped going off my bank account after a successful while and the DSTV system switched me over to "cash"; which I wasn't aware of. At that stage in my life I was never one to check my bank account and always have funds. One day, months later my DSTV was suspended; so I called into the call centre to enquire. I was then told that my account was on "cash" and that I have an amount outstanding of just over R5000. I was so shocked but understood the situation and no one from Multichoice made an effort to inform me, months went by and a huge balance grew on my Price Lock plan but I agreed to pay this off on top of my subscription.
Multichoice confirmed that they had my banking details and that debits will start again. For a month nothing happened and no debit was made from DSTV side. I then called in and enquired about this. They said they had no banking details. I then gave my banking details again. The same thing happened and no debits were deducted for 2 months. Now my outstanding balance has grown which put me in a financial predicament with increased instalments. This was not fair on me. It carried on like this where I eventually started sending emails to please start deducting repayments as the balance is only going to get higher. I can afford R899 per month as per my contract but not R2000. This means I was under financial stress. Then debits started going of my account; every month. It was different amounts each month but I was happy that they resumed the debits. Assuming Multichoice is a capable and knowledgeable company, I assumed they knew what they were doing by taking this money from me. Multichoice was in control of my bank account and could take any amount up to R2000 as the arrangement was for around R1700-1900 per month. I agreed to this after putting myself under financial stress, just to get this off and paid up.
The debits went on for quite a few months. By 5 January 2018 I received an sms on my phone from Price Lock and I quote the sms (which I still have as proof) stating the following:
From: +[protected]
Your DStv Price Lock contract ends today. Your payment of R3610.13 will be deducted on 2018-02-05. Thanks for taking your DStv Explora on DStv Price Lock. If you'd like to take out insurance on your DStv Explora, reply YES and we'll call you back.
The balance at that stage was R3610.13 which seemed a bit high for me but I left R3800 in my bank account and was okay with it going off and settling.

This was going to be deducted 05/02. On 5 February a debit of R6961.48 went off my account; which was returned unpaid as I didn't have these funds available, as per the instruction from Multichoice Price Lock. I only had R3800 in my account. I called DSTV immediately the following day (check your records) and complained with the accounts department. They said I had to wait until it shows unpaid on their side and then they will advise. No one contacted me after that.
I then in February asked to cancel all debits they have on my bank account and that I will pay this manually. I paid this R3610.13 manually. I now, at this stage owe DSTV Multichoice nothing except normal monthly subscription going forward.
Then my services were suspended again and when I called in I apparently still had an outstanding balance of about R5000 in Feb. By that stage I was very angry.
My services has been suspending for a few weeks now since February (we are at 12/04). It happens every week because no person is fixing my account. So the system keeps cutting me.

By the end of March (not even a month later) my balance went up to R10, 000! How in the world is this possible? It doesn't make sense at all. I had a lady who helped me at the call centre called Tshepiso. I sent her the proof of the sms and she reconnected.

I then paid March subscription including a re-connection fee of R50 plus my insurance premium. It was not fair to pay a re-connection fee but I still did that as well on top of my subscription.
So I do not owe multi-choice anything and there shouldn't be a balance of R10, 000! I have been patient for months, asking and begging.
I am now requesting nicely again to clear this mistake off my account as soon as possible. I have called Multichoice enough, I have wasted hundreds of Rand's in top up airtime on phone calls from a cellphone, I have been treated unfairly with no clear communication from Multichoice, after numerous requests to get clarity.

I have requested my statement from 2016 to now, more than 3x times; I haven't received anything to date. All the marketing emails come to my email address, but not my statement.
I need a response to this formal written complaint please and the response must be in writing.

I really feel I don't owe anything; DSTV was in charge of my bank account and debited amounts successfully. By 5 January when I received my sms to say my Price Lock is ending and that the last payment including subscription will go of on 5 February, I was very relieved. This amount was paid to Multi-choice, so I really don't know how an outstanding balance can go from R0 to R5000 in a week and then double to R10, 000 a month later. I need this sorted out and not escalated to anyone in price lock department nor payment arrangements, as this has been done a few times and no one has responded. Please clear my account so I can move on with my life without this unnecessary stress Multichoice is causing me. It's affecting me very negatively.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV faulty installation

My dstv was installed on the 12th January this year by DSTV Agent & Digital Cable Solutions multichoice accredited 11162MC and it gave me problems about the signal and I went back to them to acknowledge them they first told me about the weather but I kept going back to them to to prove that this is an ongoing issue all they say is that they will come back to me until now when I try to call them the phone is answered once then ignored even now I'm still struggling to watch tv

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV hd decoder installation

My name is Pumza... I bought a decoder at game and was advertised to go to the DSTV agency in Gugulethu to have it installed which I did. I was told it is going to be installed in 5days and that passed on the 7th day I decided to call the call centre to get the Gugulethu installers number which happened to be a wrong number, I then called again and got another number, I called and they managed to get to my house only to tell me they can't install my decoder because they only install exploration, he then gave another number I called and they told me they don't install in Gugulethu

Frustrated at this I googled the number for the DSTV agency in Gugulethu and called them, a lady answered and asked my name and surname and told me she will look into it and put the phone aside without even telling me to hold and after minutes she dropped the line, I then called severally after they didn't answer, then later called again a lady answered again and before I finished or explained anything she shouted that my installation will be done today the 11/04/2018... when I asked of her name she put the phone aside and dropped

DSTV consultants are very rude and unproffeasional... they need proper customer service training
I wrote the date because I want Multichoice to identify those who were on duty in Gugulethu DSTV agendy

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV removal of glow tv

As a dstv premium client, I am also very outraged by the removal of glow tv. There's a very interesting content we loved and followed unlike watching repeats of movies and series and sports channel which we don't watch in my house. There main reason I stayed on premium was because of glow tv and because it is nor removed will go back to compact or access. I am very very upset and dissapointed.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV incorrect program schedule

The program schedule shows Wrestlemania playing from 1:00 until 8:00, it is now 6:34 and the next program has already started playing. It is not only on my device but on many people's devices and we are very upset as this is a problem we face frequently, the event that should be playing is not playing on any other channel and we are missing out on one of the most amazing experiences in our lives. Please resolve this issue as soon as possible and let there be no further complications

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV dstv explora decoder

I have purchased a brand new decoder at the end of last year that came with a free installation. The installers came and installed it after which it worked for a day and then stopped working. I kept phoning and the installer kept revisiting to sort out the problem. Eventually I was told to swap my decoder in Randburg however, I am still having a problem with the decoder and it is now April.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV multichoice promotion bonuses

I received a message from the local multichoice DSTV office on the 2nd of March this year, 2018, that any customer who paid any packages until the 7th of the same month of March 2018 would receive an extra one month of the same package. I did pay on the 3rd of March 2018 and on the 3rd of April 2018, my connection was terminated. I ran to the local office and informed them. They reconnected. A day later it disconnected. I tried to call the customers' line, but without success. I then went to the same local office and informed them. They reactivated and was told that if it disconnected again they would not be able to connected me to multichoice. Unfortunately it disconnected again. Now I wonder if it is something done internally or a scam to cause clients have motivation to pay, which would be considered stilling from your own customers. What should be done. My connection was to run until 3rd of May 2018.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV cancellation of glow tv

I am highly disappointed that Glow TV has been discontinued.
Glow TV's content has millions of viewers hooked, compared to the other channels that are offered on DSTV which only air repeats. There are many other useless channels that can be cancelled without us even noticing.
Furthermore the channels that DSTV suggests Indian viewers change to, broadcasts content that is dubbed.
If DSTV's aim is to please Indian Viewers, I suggest that the series they broadcast be in the original Indian language & not dubbed in English. There are millions of movies that are broadcast in English so I don't understand why the Indian content has to be in English as well. What's the point?
Also we should be given the option to change the language as Glow Tv offered its viewers or there should be subtitles. In doing so it caters for viewers that prefer watching in English or in Hindi. I find it very irritating to watch the soapies wherein there are lip-sync errors.
Lastly for the premium viewers pay every month, we should be offered content that is new and appeals to all viewers and we should not be paying to watch repeats.
In due time DSTV will lose most of their customers to OV HD and the Switch decoder.
Well Done To Multi choice Africa DSTV for having a complaints forum and not doing anything to ensure that their viewers are satisfied.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV account department

From 18 August 2017, until today the 4th of April 2018, my account is so messed up. I had 2 family packages, one in Pretoria and one in KZN, on the 18th August 2017, I cancelled the one family package and upgraded to the premium package, and cancelled the family package. I used the pricelock feature, with a explora, and purchased a second explora, with extra view. I am using 2 exploras and one normal decoder.

I've got dates and names I spoke to on various occassions, and finally I agreed to pay the extra money they said I am behind.

Today I went again, and paid. I recieved two sms's one stating they recieved my payment, but I am still R700 and odd change, I phoned and spoke to Sipho, who said that he gets a different amount. I recieved an sms bow stating I owe R2088-00. Sipho never phoned me back, as most of them promised to do so.
I just need someone that can explain to me, what is the problem. I am really fed up with this response, and no one that can tell me, what is actually the problem. Please help, I am a pensioner, and monies is'nt raining, so I beg for a quick response.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV repetition of movies

This is ridiculous the amount of movies that is repeated. Also channels that we have no interest in but it is on the compact package. All the movies that they show is just repeated every week I don't know when was the last time that new movies were added on. Even with catch up the selection for movies is so few. We pay so much but when you turn on the tv there is nothing good to watch because all the movies that are being aired have been repeated so many time. No good family movies / comedy's nothing.

I agree with this comment. I have been a DSTV subscriber for years and the incessant number of repeats (movies, reality shows, especially that rubbish Kardashians) is unacceptable. The same shows are repeated year after year. This applies to the comedy shows as well - it is tiring to watch these old comedies - surely there must be up-to-date stuff that can be shown. Paying over R900 for repeats is frustrating. DSTV needs some competition - as long as they have the monopoly nothing will change! Something must be done to stop them ripping off the consumer in this manner. Very disgruntled customer...

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV dstv and pricelock ripoff, to the public stay away

To the public, don't get conned by multi choice dstv and with their "price lock". They are ripping people off. Rather get uncapped internet and subscribe to netflix or something. I requested a 2 year price lock in 2016. It came in april (8th) 2016.
It takes you numerous and long phone calls, to their technical department to get your new explora and old decoders connected again. Multichoice also charges rediculous call rates to speak to an incompitent consultant that does not assist you properly the first time! (call costs +- r2, 50 per minute - total close to r100)
then they overcharged me with +- r677 because. When querying this, multichoice informed me that it's because of the pro-rata amount for the normal subscription for the beginning of the month and pro rata for the pricelock till the end of april 2016?
thank goodness my pricelock is finished now but…….
Why did multichoice overcharge me and debited r1088 when the subscription is r899 -
multichoice reason - again pro-rata for beginning of april for price lock and pro-rata till the end of month for normal subscription.
I have cancelled and reversed the debit order until multichoice gives me a written reply on this website. If not i will cancel dstv permanantly. And persuade as many people as possible to cancel as well. I will take this to the media as well and expose multichoice for what they are.
There is anyway only rubbish on dstv lately and netflix is 1000 x better!

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV continuous repeats of various programme and cancellation of glow

DSTV increased their premiums this month but I find the increase is not necessary. We see daily programs being repeated at various times, and when it is week-end there is absolutely nothing to watch due to the repeats. I find that some of the channels the sound goes off and then come back and we have missed a whole topic. Most of the time the Fox channel has no sound. DSTV is now giving us less but we have to pay more. I am seriously considering other options.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV cancellation of glow tv

I am very outraged on the decision of dstv to cancel Glow tv. There are so many channels that do not have enough viewers but they are still broadcasting we are paying dstv for stupid channels and we dont even watch them. We want Glow tv back as they have more than a million active viewers. I am going to cancel dstv and get OV hd which is way cheaper and they still have glow tv. Dstv is a waste of money you all are terrible. I regret even wasting my money on such a terrible service provider who cant keep the interest of they clients. I wish everybody could cancel dstv and realize what a waste their are. #Useless

The substitute Indian programme channels (zeeW and ebella) are substandard to glowtv. They are an insult to Indian viewers as they are dubbed into English with the most ridiculous accents and mispronunciation of hindu names and words. DSTV does not even allow viewers to watch these programmes in the original language. It is not worth having DSTV anymore. OV would be a far better replacement. I anticipate that the decision DSTV has taken to remove glowtv is going to lead a lot of loss in viewer subscription. A very poor decision on behalf of dstv to remove glowtv.

MultiChoice Africa / DSTV renewal of my pricelock contract [protected]

I had a price lock contract and received notification to renew in January. The monthly premium is paid by debit order. The February premium was paid and I was told to renew at end of February. From 3 February when I started negotiating to continue on price lock offer of R 844 per month. My services has been suspended 31 times now. Every time the service is suspended I am given an outstanding amount that has varied from R 2 200 to an amount of R 311.76 that was accompanied by a statement which I paid on 6 March. I have asked for statements to confirm outstanding amount but keep on getting promises but no statement. Please advise who I need to contact to rectify this very unpleasant problem I am experiencing.
The most annoying thing is that Multichoice usually suspends on a weekend, not during the week.

Since the 1 February I have been trying to renew my Price lock contract with Multichoice .I have had and made 34 calls and as many service suspensions to date . I have also provided prove of payment by submitting my bank statements ( four times ) . Multichoice does not have the capacity to solve the problem . Everytime I phone it takes at least ten minutes to explain the problem before they understand .
