I received a gift card from a friend. I searched the outside of the packaging and could find no information regarding the expiration or activation of the card. I didn't activate the card as I couldn't read anything on the outside of the packaging indicating it would expire. I saved the 100.00 card for an emergency, not realizing that there was actually an expiration date printed on the card itself, but it was covered by the packaging. It was also automatically "active" upon purchase by my friend. I recently opened the card, and found the expiration of 05/19, so the whole card is now invalid. The sticker on the card, INSIDE the package, conveyed the information about it being activated. . . but I saved the gift card in its original packaging, unopened, for an emergency. This information should totally be included on the OUTSIDE of the packaging. Who benefitted from me NOT UTILIZING my gift card? That is definitely not very consumer friendly. I called [protected] but the difficult language barrier provided by the customer service representative made it challenging to understand him, nor could I make my displeasure clear to him. NOT a great company, NOT a great process for getting information. And the mygiftcardsite.com frequently doesn't work. SCAMMERS in my book. In addition, the gift card is for "electronic use only" which was also only printed on the actual card, not on the packaging.
Claimed loss: I lost the full value of the gift card, 100.00.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a replacement card. I know it is highly unlikely. This is how they make the most money.
