She wants a way to get her money off of that card without giving her private information, which should not be needed for a cash card.
I have a friend that used a Netspend cash card from Walmart. She put her money on the card and now she can't access the money. I called them and could not get a real person, just a website. I went to the website and now they want a copy of an SSN card and an ID, and a bill. I have never seen or heard of a cash card doing this.
Since this person is homeless, there is no bill. That money on her card was to help save up for a security deposit for an apartment. Now, she has no way of getting her money off that card. As far as I'm concerned, they stole her money and they need to be investigated.

Withdrawing Money to purchase a home
I have been a customer for a while. I decided to start a savings account with them so that I can save up for a home. The biggest mistake I could have ever done. it is time for me to access my money for my down payment and netspend is not letting have my money! They said there's a $1500 dollar limit to my own money. I understand limits but when it come to a big life decision such as home buying it is wrong.

My account was drained From June to July of 2022 it was no problem for somebody to take all of my money out of my account but when I did dispute it was even harder for me to get my money. Now all of a sudden my account has been had restrictions for the last month I cannot get my money out of my account I provided every document that you guys have asked for I need my money or I will be home why can't you give me my money I have bills to pay and you know this because I've been a customer for a few years now you guys are taking my money and will not allow me to get it even though I provided every document that you wanted but whoever stole my money didn't have to provide anything something needs to be done about this.

I bought a Netspend card and put five hundred dollars on it. They issued a temporary card. and within a week they mailed the permanent card out to my old address in Minnesota. I live in Ramona Ca now and provided everything they request in their letter of acceptable documents. I emailed them my California ID; my social card, my geico insurance binder; id cards; vehicle letter; driver letter; vehicle registration letter from the dmv; court documents; all showing one address listed in Ramona, ca 92065. I believe Netspend is a racket and that they are deliberately stealing peoples money and personal information. I have provided them with reference numbers: Account number:[protected] and Account number: [protected]. Their playing games with peoples money and I would never ever use them or refer anyone I know to use their product. It's been two months that they have been refusing to release my money by sending me my card so i can get money that I worked for in which they have basically stole collecting interest off it at meta bank. I think they are a bunch of idiots who are crooks and I will be reporting them to the california attorney general's office for prosecution and with the FBI for mail fraud!

My account being compromised

Netspend allowed a fake business to take my money that I didn’t authorize for them to do plus I never heard of them. First I called the number to complain and ask to speak to a supervisor which never happened. I believe that the frauds took my number from when I called and made it look as if I call for their assistance. They also removed all evidence from my account about the company that did it. All they put in my account now is a claim number after they took my money which over drafted my account. I called them about that and they said that the investigation team said that I did authorize it which I didn’t! These people fraudulently compromised my account and Netspend allowed them to do so therefore I want to sue them and the frauds if possible. It is ironic that everyone that work for netspend is a foreigner which makes me believe that they have something to do with it because they erased everything from my account about the entire incident including the date. I also would like all of my accounts with them.

I called NetSpend and and they said that I need documents that have proof of your address so I send them my Student Transcripts with my address, state student ID, my date of birth, full name, and the school I go to with their address and phone number on it on August 25, 2022. I waited for a week and they still asking for my documents that have proof of address.

I already have a Visa card from Netspend that I tried to use recently and was told I haven’t used it in a while and needed to reactivate it. I just received a Mastercard from Netspend with my name on it. I assumed they were sending me a new card. I called to activate it and was advised there is a restriction on my account.
To lift it I need to provide a photocopy of my DL and SS card
I understand and respect the need to verify my identity. I asked about the security of the information I provide because providing a copy of my DL & social security card is highly risky. Before I provide anything I need to know the links are encrypted and info is secure.
The agent kept repeating the same statement regarding why they need the information.

I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told repeatedly that I was speaking to the fraud department and there was no supervisor. I disconnected the call.
I tried to go online and delete my account and all my information. I’m not comfortable with their unwillingness to ensure my info is secure at all. I get a red banner that states “There is an issue with your account. Please contact customer service to resolve the issue. Contact us at [protected].”
I called that customer service number. I want my account closed and all my data removed from their system. I immediately requested to speak with a supervisor. I was put on hold for 23 minutes and nobody checked in or came back on the line.
I hung up and called back. I spoke with Jason with customer service. He advised that my account was closed and all cards associated with it will be blocked. He advised that my data will be removed from their system and that I will receive an email confirmation of this.
I never received email confirmation of my account closure and data removal.
After this experience I do not trust Netspend and it feels like a phishing scam to get my info.
Desired outcome: I want written confirmation that my account has been deleted, my cards are blocked (cannot be used) and all my data has been removed from Netspends system.

August 19 2022 I logged on to the site to check my balance and set my account up with an App. I had never had an online account and used my card only to withdraw money from an ATM . Half the way through answering questions. it locked my account when I called the Netspend number to complain about a company charging my card at a rate of 5.00 a month. I have never heard of this company. Next thing I knew I was locked out for no reason. I'm a Senior and on SS. I could not pay my Insurance yesterday I'm not sure what to do I definitely don't want to send my personal information to some unknown and unsafe [protected]@netspend.com What are my options ? Horrible customer service reps that none of them none understand English none of them. They messed up important accts i have by disputing a transaction i never made. They made the transaction and they never still to this day won't give me the transaction id number so i can tell the other acct. i have that here's the id number to the $40 nope! i also told them they made the mistake and not me know i don't have an acct. with the other company that was getting paid. I also was charged for a card that was ordered on the 5th i got it on the 16th. Thats not a two-day delivery pays i asked for my money back and they still are fighting me about it saying it was ordered on the 14th and i got it on the 16th ughhh no i had to reorder it because i never i the one sent to me in two days and still don't have it. I've been having so many issues with them not understanding anything, that's why they paid a merchant $40 they did that not me. They are not a good company the reps all are horrible ppl they pretend to listen, but they don't and look what happens i want all my money back from them and I'm filing more complaints against the whole skylight one Net spend reps that don't understand English

Bank statements.
Ive been with netspend for 11yrs and Im in contract with a new home and am working on getting my FHA loan approved. My FHA loan processor will not accept my Bank statements which I can print myself. They have no header on them and dont even have my full acct number on them or any URL numbers to prove they are legal tender. I have contacted customer service many times to get this problem addressed and even had them mail me the bank statements in hopes they will be in a better format that my FHA loan processor will accept. When I spoke with customer service they have told me they will look like the ones I can print from home which is unacceptable. No bank or loan will accept these. I also changed my email with them not knowing that it would put a 30 day security hold on my acct. So I have had to push out my closing date on my new home and possibly will now be denied because of improper bank statements. Ive tried to get ahold of the corporate office to see if they can send me proper bank statements but there is no phone number to get ahold of anyone. Im extremely frustrated that I could lose my new home. I never foresaw this being a problem getting good bank statements. This corporation needs to rectify this quickly so I dont lose my new home.

My son's card was blocked due to "not having enough verification" after 6 weeks. He is 15 yrs old. I've sent this company parent approval letters, his social security card and work papers, but THAT isn't enough? In fact, I got a generic confirmation email a month ago stating I would have to do nothing else AND they sent him a card with his name on it...Last night I had numerous representatives hang up on me because they KNEW I was correct and are apparently told not to help. Finally, another rep told me it was a fault of the company not uploading the documents. But that I'd need to RESEND this stuff again. Why? Is it's the company's fault? So I sent the stuff, because its completely ridiculous that they are keeping 6 weeks of my teenage son's pay...only to get another generic email that THEY DON'T HAVE Enough ID. I am currently on the phone with his employer, sent a complaint to the BBB and looking into a lawyer because not only is asking for a juveniles social security card shady, but refusing to open an account that is his is HORRIBLE BUSINESS. This company is a pathetic excuse for a business and needs shut down, but only after a class action lawsuit! Stealing from kids! Sick and illegal.

The companies practices and hidden charges
Purchased a so called gift card at Christmas 2021 and gave them to my grandchildren. By May of this year they let me know that they never used their card because they were being asked about their social security number, birthdates, and the need for a copy of their SS card and a utility bill with their name on it. That's when I entered the picture.
It took me 6 calls and a total of 3 hours, 5 customer service types, 2 supervisors (one of which hung up on me) to discover that I had purchased "not a gift card but a scam of sorts). They were charging the value off the card of something between $5-$6 each month because they hadn't been used. Now, I have a total of $53 for my grand kids instead of $125. And, had I not asked I would not have know that after I exhaust this huge amount money on the 3 cards, I have to call them to cancel them or they continue charging me monthly on each card.
This is farce and a scam for those who think they are getting something with the Visa name on it but, they are getting a minefield of verbiage to confuse the purchaser and look how much they are stealing each month for those who feel they have bought the norm.
Desired outcome: A. I want them outed to the State of Texas Attorney General for poor business practices among other things.B. I'd like my $72 backC. I'd like some form of restitution for my 2 grand-daughters.

I purchased a $500. Netspend in Texas in March 2020, in Texas when Covid hit, as emergency funds for my return trip to Canada. I did not need to use the card. Today I tried to activate the card and was unable to do so. I called the number provided and was told I needed to send a copy of my Social Security card and a recent invoice for my home. I also tried to change my address to my Canadian home. The clerk was unable to input that in to their system.
I told them I did not feel comfortable sending that info, especially with all the complaints listed against their company. I asked for a supervisor and waited 32 minutes before I hung up in digust.
When I called back and went through all the same BS, I asked to close the account and send me a check for the balance of $500.00. They would only send the check to the old address in Texas where I have not been in 31 months.
They would not even record my Canadian address. Having read the 672 complaints filed against this company, I feel I have been scammed out of my money.

Withholding my money
Netspend Skylight is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. While I was at work on my overnight, I received a text from them telling me my card was suspected of fraudulent activity and that they blocked it.
So, I called them in the morning and tried to get it unblocked, but they claimed they couldn't unblock it and that they'd just have to send me a new card and that it'd take three days to get to me. Five days later, I call because I still don't have my card, and they tell me it'll be with me on the fifth (it was the third when I called). The seventh came around, still no card. I called them and they redirected me to "someone who could help," but I just got redirected to the menu four times with no answer. It is now the ninth and I still don't have my card.
They refuse to transfer my money to any other bank because they "only do Netspend to Netspend transfers," but won't let me use my old card that is no longer active.
I can't pay my bills, I can't pay for gas, I can't buy food, and this company refuses to help me at all. Any other bank would unlock your card if you called and told them it was you. Any other bank would allow you to transfer your funds to other banks.
When I requested they do a MoneyGram so I could have my money (since they used to do that in the past), they told me they can't do that and started rambling about something I didn't even ask about.
All the "customer service representatives" can do is say they don't know and repeat the same thing over and over again. No one in this company has any idea what's going on at their job.
Desired outcome: I just want my card. I ended up ordering a new card since it seems like they never even shipped my old card. If I could get my funds transferred to my other bank, I would also be happy.

ACH Transfer to my card denied because of business/ personal name issue, money not sent back to originator
Netspend is holding a deposit into my account. They are saying
there is a mismatch in name because my business name and my
personal name are on the ACH transfer. The transfer is payment
from a major corporation (Vacasa) for work performed. Their
policy states that one name has to be mine in order for the
transfer to be completed. My situation would seem to fit. They
have been holdng it since 8/5/22. I called trying to give them any
additional information they requested. I struggled to understand
the rep as his English was very bad. He said the transfer will
happen Monday then he said there is a mismatch in name, so I
said then send it back, he said that will be done Monday by 5pm
if the name is not rectified. I asked why do I have to wait. He
couldn't tell me, so I asked for a supervisor and was told none
were available. I believe they are holding the deposit for their
own financial benefit. I do not believe they ever intended to
release these funds. I have had this problem once before with
them. I had to get the company to send the transfer again in my
name only. This company will not do that, so they (Netspend)
have my money and are refusing to answer any of my calls now. I
used a different account to get someone on the phone and they
are telling me the transfer has been rejected but it will not post
back for six more days, which I know very well is not necessary.
They are allowed to hold a transaction that the user attempted to
engage in, like getting gas for 7 days but this is a different situation
and I believe they are violating the law. They seem to be using
this time period to enrich themselves by holding my money in
their operating account.
Desired outcome: Return ACH tranfer to originator immediately

Locked account
On Wednesday July 27th I attempted to make a purchase online and it was blocked under the belief that it was a fraudulent attempt.
On Thursday I tried to rectify the issue and the Netspend website claims my e-mail is not valid. The phone system asks me for my card number and pin number and they work fine, but it then it asks me for my social security number and it then says THAT is not valid.. I sent an e-mail regarding this on Thursday 28th, because there is no customer service that will talk to you over the phone, and haven't received a reply. I have bills to pay and need to buy food. PLEASE HELP ME.

Debit visa card
My daughter put money on a Netspend scam debit Visa card, and in spite of my sending them both our birth certificates, my driver’s license, photos of the card, both our social security cards, multiple phone calls and dozens of emails to every possible department, they refuse to allow me to either set up an account or access my money in any way. They consistently play dumb and make up reasons, and ask for sensitive documents that I have already sent them.

My all access card has been comprised and within 24 hours i have had $1300.00 stolen from my account. I have spent 3 full days trying to get help from netspend customer service to be rudely hung up on or given false information with no hope of reclaiming my stolen funs. In the mail and one of my friends or someone in this area has it my credit card end the I received last thrfour numbers were 0017 that's all I remember plus the others were switched in the post office by someone I know always ripping me off I want to file charges on these crooks and I also had my lottery winnings stolen and all my gambling games winnings stolen my friends or someone I know thinks their bad and take advantage of me all the time and have me stalked by everyone this whole community ripping me off and stealing my money I'm tired of them in tired of it they keep doing all the time ever time I get my hands or win game that stop to pay me they think that they could keep robbing me I want charges on family members fake family members whoever gets paid cause it's not me it's someone else and I can't stand them at all I want all my money I don't care about social security cause they don't give me a dime some one relative or a worker keeps it for them selves and stalks me with people all over the place this time my SSI card too plus Can identification card they all identify thieves and [censored]ers all the way in filing charges I want my things
