employee rachel robinson at your 1400 5th ave location
Dear Sir/Madam.
On Saturday morning [protected]) at approximately 8:00am I entered the gym at 115th and 5th avenue. Rachel Robinson was the attendant on duty. I swiped my card, she looked at my record and saw I have a past due for my annual fee which she said she knew is not actually due until September 24th. A note was left on my account by manager Bronson saying this. She said to go ahead and use the gym. I went downstairs then left the gym after 6 or 7 minutes.
I returned to the gym at around 11:30am the same day and sat on the lobby chair eating a small meal I had bought. Rachel was there by the desk attending to a female member. There were also about 15 to 20 other members upstairs. About 10 minutes after I was seated Rachel started screaming at me for absolutely reason saying "You have a [censor]ing bill here and you are not supposed to be in this gym [censor]". I can stop you from coming in here" I calmly said to Rachel I was here at 8am and you did not say this and why are you screaming at me? I asked her to call the manager please and Rachel said "[censor] that you need to pay your [censor]ing bills in here". 'You're a [censor]ing bum and you are not supposed to be in here Byron"! 'You are nobody [censor]"! Stop screaming at me Byron stop screaming at me"! At no time did I raise my voice or said anything to this woman because honestly I was in total shock and visibly confused as to what was happening.
As stunned as I was I tried my best to keep calm and asked her to stop it. She kept on cursing at me very loudly and only stopped when Edgar walked in. I immediately reported what happened to Edgar. After leaving Edgar's office and passed by the front desk Rachel said to me "You're trying to get me fired [censor]? 'You're a [censor]ing bum"! I did not respond.
Rachel Robinson have been SEXually harassing me and verbally abusing me at this gym since last year November. She verbally abused me in front of past and present employees. Edwin, Bianca and Brianna were witnessed this and told me that I should not tolerate this. The manager at the time Bronson had numerous verbal reports from me about Rachel's behavior . Back in March I also literally begged Bronson to be transferred to another gym and he said NO that he wanted me to stay there and he will "sort her out"! A few days later I asked him again and he said that if I moved my fees would go up and I could not afford that.
On previous occasions between November and April Rachel slammed the from door in my face and cursed at me. On one occasion Edwin, a former employee, was there and told me I should complain which I did to Bronson. Bronson told me he would "take care of it"! On numerous occasions I went out of my way to use the gym when Rachel is not there and this is something I did not have to do. Rachel also stood by the desk with a clique of gym members who she talks with an openly and loudly telling them that "she hates my guts" to which I pretended not to hear. She even attempted to pass threats from one of your trainers on to me. Mind you I knows no one at that gym personally including Rachel and only see them at that gym. At all times I follow gym policy.
This has reached a point that Bronson's inaction has allowed Rachel's behaviour to fester and now she apparently feels emboldened to just verbally abuse me anytime she feels like. Since January I have to think twice before I go to the gym hoping that Rachel is not there.
This has nothing to do with me owing anything as this was the pretex she used to curse me out on Saturday. Rachel represents N.Y. Sports club and this is not good at all. I refuse to tolerate this any longer and want something to be done about Rachel right now. My attorney is cc' d on this email.

Worst customer service available...ask to speak to a supervisor and associate Brandon informs me I can't speak to anyone but him! They are willing to loose to separate accounts over the simplest thing to be fixed if they had any proper customer service whether it's in the facility or over the phone...the worst ever! I pay close to 100 dollars a month on both facilities and get below average service and help with any issues everything with this gym seems to be impossible to fix...you can't charge luxury prices for crappy service!

I have been a nysc member for years. I also was a paying customer of the personal trainer memberships for over 2 years I recently moved and attempted to cancel my membership. My only reason for canceling was because there is no NYSC where I moved I called my old club and was told I had to come in or call member services. Due to my new location I could not come in and called member services. I spoke to Karen who told me I could not cancel and HAD to go to the club Or I could send a letter. She was very rude. My husband also had a membership which he cancelled over the phone . She told me this was impossible and he must have a corporate membership. He did not have a corporate membership and did cancel over the phone. this kind of customer service is terrible and I will continue to write reviews on social media. Not only am I going to get charged an additional month, but you have made it impossible for me to cancel. I will continue to write negative reviews until this is resolved. I cannot believe I stayed part of a club for so many years with such terrible customer service.

theft and no follow up over 2 months
My locker was broken in at Butler NJ. My watch and car keys were stolen. The thief then stole $600 from my wallet in the car from the parking lot. I have called NYSC several times and spoke with the manager at Butler location and her response is that she not heard anything from the legal department.
This is not the first time something like this has happened at that location. The sad part is that NYSC doesn't care and has not taken any preventive measures nor has followed up.

The people that workout here keep to themselves. It's ok, parking and traffic are a problem in this area. Never had problems getting a machine. However, machine are often out of service or not working properly. I witnessed a member being harassed by another member who
was much older. The member asked the older person to let her use machine and clearly she did not exceed a time limit. So there are younger women who think they should get special treatment and harass others to speed up work outs. Perhaps bringing your patience to this gym is needed to respond to crazy members, waiting for parking, and sitting in tons of traffic.
I received a corporate rate for my daughter's membership. First of, it wasn't such a great deal and secondly I was never told that the monthly fee and annual rates would go up. The front desk politely told me that it was in the contract in small type. I went in person to discuss options for the membership as my daughter went off to college and will not be back until next year. They basically told me that there was nothing that could be done as far as the $39.99 monthly fee for a student. No student memberships was offered even after overhearing the recent college graduate (not current student) next to me get a deal of $24.99/mo! But if I wanted to place the membership on hold, they would only charge me $15/mo. I ended up canceling the membership after paying $260 for the last 2 months + 30 day notice. I told the front desk clerk that I have a health and fitness background plus work in retail and that I was super disappointed with how this was handled. Not once did she try to offer me anything to keep my daughter as a member. I was taught that you try to keep your customers happy so they can come back and/or recommend to their friends. Very POOR experience. It proves to me what I have been saying all along...no one cares about you at these Big Box Gyms. You are just another number.
steam room and some showers in men's room
I am writing this complaint regarding the perpetually broken steam room at the 41/8th Avenue location here in Manhattan.
I have inquired several times, and I was told that it would be working, but nothing has occurred.
I signed on believing that this location, per its advertisement, offers both sauna and steam room, but this is not true. There is a steam room but it does not work.
Additionally, management needs to repair broken showers in men's room, and put shower gel in all showers.
One day I was taking a shower, and several men were waiting for me to finish, claiming the other showers did not work.
Can you please assist as I am not only paying membership dues, I am paying for a personal trainer?

unauthorized charges and wire fraud
I went to New York Sports Club in March I paid for a one day membership, so I gave them my card. Within a week they refunded me the money because they said it would be free.
In April they started charging me monthly membership fees which I did not authorize. They continued to charge me until August.
They also charged me a yearly fee which was $74.80.
Then when I went to sign up in May since I was back from college they failed to tell me that I already had an account open with them, so they were charging me for two accounts.
In total they stole $181.60 from me and when I went to speak with the manager he said the most I can refund you is $100. I told him no I wanted the entire amount refunded. He then said well I can't do that it's either $100 or nothing. I told him you guys stole $181.60 from me without my authorization and he said well good luck and left.

Today I strolled into NYSC located in forest Hills, Queens. I approached the front desk as normal and ready to give the front desk personnel my member number. I personally do not enjoy having to carry the NYSC key card with me at all because among others trying to lose weight, I don't want my fiance to know that I'm secretly preparing for our wedding. I was asked for my key card and I immediately told the worker that I had my member number. Maybe it was my NYC Pride t-shirt or the fact that I am a clear member of the LGBT, but the worker on July 12, 2017, David who was working the evening shift in NYSC decided to particularly ask me several times for my name and address and I.d. I didn't see the point of this as I had my member I.d. And I've been trying out the company because it was recommended by a colleague of mine. David insisted to contour up excuses about a line being held up when there was not 1 person behind me. Not 1. Not only does this paint a horrible image on NYSC's behalf in terms of customer service but also David made a scene that both emotionally targeted me, and disrupted my psychological well-being. Now I am not only afraid to come into the gym without the judgements of others seemingly as of I was a criminal but I am now personally outed every tie I walk in as it is engraved into my memory. Thus this painful experience is the cost of my thought of a membership. Unjust, cruel and disrespectful David should not be assigned to the front desk if he is stereotypical and does not like my LGBT COMMUNITY.

I was a member of the NYSC gym at Bayonne, NJ where I recently moved out to a new city (West New York) in October 2016. Even after filling out the form and informing the front desk person to discontinue my membership, the gym has been charging me monthly fees from the past 8-9 months. I have already moved to a new city and have no relation with NYSC anymore.
I want the refund of the unauthorized card charges that NYSC has been applying on my card from past 8-9 months. I am willing to provide all necessary payment transactions as a proof of this fraud.

I first went in person to the front desk (@ 10 street) and filled a cancelation form in mid April with Johanna Ullaoa. She gave me no receipt or prove of cancelation but told me it would be effective in 24h if I login in the website. I was clear stating that I was moving abroad and wanted to make sure everything was taken care of. I didn't see any changes on the webpage and on May 25th I decided to go in and check the situation. Johanna Ullaoa was at the desk and after going on their computer told me the membership hadn't been canceled and there was nothing she could do about it, it would have to start all over again. She had an attitude questioning everything I said, even the fact that I actually had been there because I wouldn't remember her name. Extremely rude and very suspicious.
I insisted to speak with the manager Nestor Ulloa, and after some effort he came down. Terrible customer service attitude, took me to a messy office with chaotic piles of papers and claimed that he couldn't find my cancellation form (in paper) and would look for it another time (thats how much he cared about it). I couldn't believe all the stress they were making me go through and the time I was spending. He told me he would look for it and call me back, that didn't happen. Once more even after insisting I didn't receive any proof that I had be there confirming that my membership had been cancelled.
Surprisingly (or not) I did a search online and found numerous negative reviews on this place on YELP. Some of the recent reviews that I attach are incredibly similar to my situation, that make me realize that there were no good intention in their actions since the beginning. I demand that ALL my financial and personal information is erased from their records, my account is totally deleted and they never attempt to charge another dime in my credit card. Looking forward to have this situation resolved.
1221- ave of americas location - continuous issues with towel shortage
For the past year or so there is a continuous issue about no or short on towels issue at the 1221 Ave of Americas location. We are provided a ration of towels and on many occasions no towels at all. The management tells us that the issue is with the towel contractor and that the issue is beyond their control. There is no warning in advance when there are no towels, so on many occasions following the work out, we cannot take a shower. The price charged is high enough to address this issue, but no action for almost year shows, no regard for the patrons. You must either pay the contractors so that they provide towels or reduce the fees and inform customers to bring their own towels. When I complained to the manager at front desk today, 5/21/17, she was rude and complained that the customers are making her job harder. Hard to imagine that I signed up for this!

My fiancée and I had joint nysc in glendale ny, location on february 17, 2016. When my fiancé and I went to inquire about the membership, which I explained to the employee from that location that we were looking for a membership where it is not a contract. The employee from nysc told us that they had a month to month membership and it is not a contract. I asked 'if I decided to cancel the membership for the month to month, would there be any fees on canceling?"he said "no. " I also asked him" can I cancel at anytime if we are not satisfied?" he said "yes, because your are not locked in a contract. " the employee also told us if you add members under your name, the members would be $29 monthly. It was my fiancé, sister in law and i. We all joint the gym. A couple months later we were not happy with nysc and we were moving to another state, thats when my fiancé, sister in law, and I decided to cancel the membership. We told the employee to cancel and she took our names, was on the computer and asked us why we were canceling and we explained, when we did she said it was done. On june 6th I called nysc glendale location because I saw they had charged me when they shouldn't had charged me, since I canceled my account. The staff who picked up the phone was rude and nasty. I asked for a manager because the staff was no help. When she transferred me to the manager I told her what happened, she credit me back on june 6th and also apologized and told me that she had canceled the account. On feb 2, 2017 I saw another charge from nysc on the same location, called that location and asked for the manager because the staff told me the account was still active. When it shouldn't have been. The manager from that location eric was not helpful at al. He kept saying the person I spoke to did not add any notes on the account. That for I can't help you. I asked is there a female manager? May I speak to her? She was the one who I spoke to before, he tells me there is no female manager in this location and never was. I've been the manager in here, never a female manager. I told eric the manager from that location i've been lied too twice i've been paying for a membership thinking it was canceled. This is unacceptable! And he tells me i'm in a 1yr contract. When I told him no I was on a month to month plan and he told me I was not. If I cancel I would have to pay $99. Which the person I spoke to and asked these question told me no contract. I was lied too. He did not believe me. Where I thought the manager I spoke to who told me and believed her and a person who works there canceled the account. Eric did not feel sorry, he did not even want to hear anything what I had to say, he kept giving me what do you want to do? Pay or wait until contract finishes. If the staff are not trained and pretending to be the manager, and does not want to take the responsibility of the lies they told my fiancé and I is unbelievable. Makes me feel like as if its my fault that I was lied too. Their customer service on that location is horrible how can you lie to customers about the contract and not let customer know about it. If I would've known and if I was educated well from the employe, I would have not signed to that membership. The worst experience!

I purchased a gym membership for my son in January 2016 at the rate of $29.99 per month to be charged directly to my credit card.
Sometime in late April 2016 my bank was compromised and I was issued a new credit card. My husband went directly to the gym and brought the new card with him so that they could enter the new card into the system to update the automatic payments.
The April payment of $29.99 was charged to the old card. All good.
Thereafter, as of the end of May 2016, no payments were charged.
on June 8, 2016 my account was charged $89.98 - which I assumed was payment for May, June and July 2016. I was annoyed and I questioned my son who belatedly told me that he personally, a minor aged 14 years, was getting nasty emails stating that the gym membership was delinquent.
We visited the gym together to straighten out the situation.
I asked to speak to a manager since the girls at the front desk were unable to help me. At that time I also asked to "freeze" my son's membership since we would be travelling until the end of August and he would not be able to visit the gym very much. The girls at the front desk assured me that they would take care of "freezing" the membership that very day and it would be effective until the end of August 2016. I was told that the manager - she did not give me her name - was on a conference call and would have to call me back. I went home and called the gym when I got home. Again, I was told that the "nameless" manager was on the phone and would call me back. No phone call was ever received. I did speak to someone named "Steve" (no last name) who assured me that the membership would be frozen but he was powerless to take care of straightening out the charges to me account - which apparently did not cover 3 months but only 2 months plus miscellaneous "uncollected" fees. I would have to speak to a manager. I called twice more but the manager was always "unavailable". I admit that I did not follow up again but we were away much of the time. Until today when I noticed that my account had a pending charge of $44.98 - that is, $29.99 plus an "uncollected" (?) fee. I don't even know what that means since clearly the gym is getting the money out of my account. I called the gym at 9 AM. The people answering the phone are not equipped to handle anything more than giving out towels. This time I was told that the old manager that I spoke to in June was no longer there and the new manager was busy "training" someone. I told them to cancel my membership as of today and I stated that if I did not receive a phone call back I would file complaints with every agency I could think of for fraudulent business practices. At 2 PM since I still had not received a call I went to my bank and asked to have a "stop" put on the pending transaction since the membership was "frozen" at the time of the transaction and therefore invalid. While I was there the associate at the bank called the gym directly, identified herself and stated that she wished to speak to the manager directly in order to straighten out a customer dispute and obtain a refund of a pending charge. She was put on hold for approximately 5 minutes then someone picked up the line without speaking and hung up on her. She called back again and was told that the manager was "unavailable". As of 5:30 P.M. I still had not received a phone call back and left for a scheduled appointment. I received a voice mail message on my phone at 5:59 PM from Luis at the gym stating that he had gotten my message and asking me to call back. When I called the gym at 7:03 PM was told that he was not there and was gone for the day. I asked them to check what time he left and was told that he left at 6:15 P.M.

The Graviton, on the 4th floor of 349 East 76th. St., has been broken since Thanksgiving. Many members have complained, as have I on many occasions, only to be told by management that it is in the process of being fixed. This is outrageous! It is a simple fix that involves securing a pin. Please investigate!

New York Sports Club currently advertises a new premium package in order to complete with Blink Fitness - which is their new, direct competitor. The main restriction of this package is that you must set a main facility and only work out there for the monthly price of $19.95. When I started a new job I had to change the main facility to one that was closer to work since I workout during my lunch breaks. Corporate told me not only will they have to cancel the membership (in which I paid ~$300 in annual fees and dues upon signing) but that I would have to pay all of these again even though I had only been with them for 6 weeks. The representative explained that it's an unfavorable situation for their customers, however, her hands were tied since there was no workaround. I cancelled my membership and rejoined Blink Fitness - whose package is only $25 monthly and you can work out at every facility.

Wish I could rate it a minus 1. Dobbs ferry is the worst nysc ever. The pool is never enforced about showers pre-swim and swim caps. The classes are over crowded. Equipment is never wiped down. Oh and the parking. Employees do not park in employee lot, so members have to park in the open lot. No towels anymore. Soap not filled in showers. And the kids in the pool make it more like a community center than a sports club. The locker room is a disaster. How does a place like this stay in business? Management is not responsive. The person at the desk will not give an email of the manager. They charge to cancel, but i'm out of here this summer. I think management has decided this club doesn't matter. Disaster - - bad - - terrible - - really bad - putrid - smelly - - poor - awful.

I signed on for 30 days for 30 dollars for myself and my son. I was told if I cancel my other gym membership and join nysc I would get a great deal. For only 49.99 sign on fee I am a member for 19.99 a month and I would get my 60 dollars refunded... Sounds great right? Nope! It was 49.99 to join, 49.99 processing fee (Per person) and I didn't get a dime back because I did not join within 7 days, which was never told to me my the sales rep joe at nysc in port jefferson. I was also tripled billed for the monthly fee which I was told wouldn't be billed till february 15th. He told me a bunch of lies to get me to join, then once I did, not one promise he made me was real. Joe the sales rep was busy working out during his work hours and was too busy to talk to me, and when he finally sat with me he was smelly and sweaty from his work out! You just can't make this stuff up. I then went to the manager melissa, she was useless, she also made empty promises... Then I went to the corporate office, they did nothing. I will complain to everyone I can to warn everyone about this company who doesn't care about their members!

Signed up for a "trail Membership" for when I was in Town for a week. I was told to do this over signing up for the $30 30 day plan, as it was completely refundable. When I got to the club, it took 3 trips for them to locate my card to use the club, which meant that my ability to use the club had now been reduced to 4 days.
When I returned home, not only was I not refunded the $49.99 Trial fees, but charge 4 more times - twice for $39.99 and twice for $99.99. When I finally got through to the original person who signed me up, he assured me that he would email me information where I could send the copies of the fraudulent billings, and they would refund them as well as the trial membership. needless to say, no email from him or a return to my subsequent phone calls.
VERY BAD PEOPLE! MAJOR FRAUD.

I've been a victim of a fraudulent business practice by this establishment. In September of 2008 I signed up for a 12 month student discounted membership at the local branch of the New York Sports Club on east 23rd street. Nine months into the membership, in May of 2009, I informed the club that I would not be in the city for the next couple of month...
