My home is sold and I am moving to a senior residence that has their own security system and individual pendants worn by each resident.. The people who have purchased my home, do not wish to have a security system installed in their home. They want the Sensors and security panel removed. North star is demanding up to $250 and they want to know the security system of the residence I am moving to.
My wife and I pushing our 80s, and wish only to find a quiet residence to live Our lives in security. We've enjoyed our home and the security that has been provided by Northstar, it is time to move on. We want the service canceled and the sensors and panel removed for the new owners. Alarm Service Contract
I switched from NorthStar Alarm Services to another company in August of 2019 after being with NorthStar for 5 years. I thought I had done what was necessary to cancel the contract. The payment for the account was being taken out of my husband's account. When I took over his account in 2020, I realized that payments were still automatically being deducted. In January 2021, I wrote a letter to the company to cancel and I stopped payment to the account.
Recently I have gotten notification that I was behind in payments to the account and am now in collection. I called NorthStar and was told by Cody that the contract automatically renewed until August of 2022. He explained that the reason for the automatic renewal is that NorthStar could be held liable if they had equipment in my home and I had an emergency.
On May 7, I spoke with NorthStar technician, Daniel, who said he would contact billing with information showing that they had provided no service since 2019. I also spoke with Jay in billing who said he would send me a copy of the contract. He also told me that the buy out for the contract was $779.
Today I spoke with Brian in NorthStar Billing Management who says there is nothing that can be done because of the automatic renewal clause.
At this point I am in collections for $170. So, in addition to there being no valid reason for the renewal of the contract since there was no NorthStar equipment in our home after August 19, 2019, and the fact that we unknowingly paid over $900 for no service for 17 months, and I still owe until August of 2022, they will not work with me. I even pulled my senior citizen, disabled, and veteran cards out to no avail. DO NOT SIGN WITH THIS COMPANY.
Desired outcome: That the forgive the payments I owe from July 2021 through August2022
Northstar service contract
I was never given notice of renewal on my contract. It auto-renewed after 5 years without me being notified for an 18 month term and then auto-renewed again as of July 1, 2021 for another 18 month term. When I went to cancel the now out-dated system on 7/28/2021 they said I was on the hook until January 2023. Is that even legal??? No notification? Just magnifying glass sized fine-print on an 8 year old contract?

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!
I have never seen a company that screws so many people. They lie, say they never received letters and emails. They will harass you on a regular basis about a service that has not been used 11/18! Told me my contract stated I had to pay through 6/21. I paid under protest! They have no morals. Then automatically rolled me over to another 18 months! Mind you they have not given any service for 32 months. Stating that they didn't receive the cancellation 60 days in advance! What can be done?

We've had Northstar since 2014. We decided to make a major move to another state and was told we could not stop the service. When asked why, the representative said we signed a two-year contract and cannot stop the service until 2022, a entire year from now.
We have not signed a contract since 2014. We should NOT have to pay for a service we don't have, especially since there is no signed contract since 2014. This is a deceptive practice and I am reporting to whoever will listen.

You are stealing because I have called over 2 years to cancel. I have placed the phone calls, I wrote on a piece of paper, took a picture and uploaded to the email address as you all said to do and still you are drafting my account.
This is nonsense.
Desired outcome: STOP drafting my account; pay me for the months I have followed YOUR directions to cancel the service and reimburse my money.
Northstar Home
Look for any other company besides Northstar. It's been a complete trainwreck dealing with them. Over $1000 in damages resulting from install that wasn't completely completed because he didn't have all of the equipment. I was told all cameras have two way sound to get my buisness. Only doorbell has two way sound. I've been charged $80 a month since October 2020 and they won't refund anything. I canceled them in October after realizing I was lied to. I've spent hours on the phone trying to resolve this with no success. All I want is my money back that they have been charging me even though I'm not using their system. Nobody has the ability to do that and won't let me speak to a supervisor. Avoid Northstar Home at all costs.

Linx panel quality problems
has been 10 days that I returned from a trip to find the alarm system not working there was not any messages, it tells me there is not anyone monitoring or something was definitely with the system. I contacted the Northstar technical staff by chat because no one answer the phone and I was instructed on how to troubleshoot the panel that was just lit but not showing anything after two days I was told that it would cost me 99.00 dollars to have a technician check the system. The new panel was installed 3 weeks ago repacing the older model which lasted years. I believe that the service should be provided at no charge or cancel the services for bad quality.
North Star alarm
My Mother called to cancel her service. She was told to send an email. With help she did. Now they say it's to late to cancel and she has to pay for another year. They can not offer service to where my Mother moved. They won't cancel the account either. You can not speak to anyone but a account manager. The first person should have stopped the account, or put on hold.

Home alarm
Over two (2) years ago I was visited by a rep from northstar alarm in my home at: 4915 dogwood drive, everett, wa. 98203. They have taken $56.36 monthly from my bank account. I'm close to 80 years old and my health turned poorly I moved to a senior community and I now live with my son in edmonds. I notified northstar when I sold the house on dogwood in everett. Yet they continue to take my money even after numerous requests to stop.
This has to be the worst company on the face if the earth!
So... If they don't stop stealing my money and return 2 years x $56.36 I will hire an attorney and sue them for my money plus attorney fees and damages to my health.

I can not cancel service today. I been customer for 10 years. I know beginning contract 3 or 5 years long, After that I can cancel anytime but Northstar try to cheat customer by automatic renew without telling customer from beginning. That is really wrong doing business. I see a lot of people complaint about your company take advantage on customer I find out today. No one on to keep service forever but your company make people get so mad. If I want to go further I do not think I lose the case but look back what you try to treat customer.

I was informed that I also need to notify you in writing by one of your representatives.
Consider this my notification of cancelation. I did sign and send through the mail in January said notice.
I was told that I needed to send another notice.
Ridiculous! The contract ending is sufficient, now TWO additional notices from me must end this problem.

product not working

security cameras and skybell doorbell
I just spent 27 minutes on hold with tech support to discuss a continued problem I've had with my service. You should find a few phone calls to customer service or tech support about something with the camera and door bell that was installed. NOW I'm stuff with a contract of very, very poor service and you get paid monthly on time every time.
My skybell doorbell does not ring on my Northstar keypad which was installed by Northstar, a very, very poor job I might add, which I complained about and sent you pictures. The sky bell will ring on my iPhone, however, there is a delay and by the time it does notify my phone the person is gone. My internet download speed is 73.0 mbps and my upload speed is 15.3 mbps, so that should not be a problem, but if it is, Northstar knew that before they installed the equipment.
The camera is the backyard has the absolute worst resolution and I can't get notifications for that at all. When I log in, it says my password is incorrect, so I request to change and I never get a confirmation to change the password, and I'm not getting emails notifying me of any motion detected.
This has become very frustrating for me, when I call I feel as if the representatives have NO IDEA what I'm talking about, training is obviously NOT one of your strong suits. The customer service I have received has been less than a -1 and it sad that your company will take my money and not train your people to understand the business, the products, how to troubleshoot and resolve a problem and not try to sell me more poor services.
I am very disappointed in the products and service I have received, I want to know the following:
1. How much more time on my current contract, which I believe YOU - NORTHSTAR has breached!
2. What are you going to do about my skybell doorbell and my rear camera not working to my satisfaction.
Its TIME OUT for your big companies getting rich on consumers and providing this poor service. I can monitor my own home without a monitoring service that doesn't do much monitoring, but debits my account 64.99 per month like clock work.
It is critical that some contacts me regarding my not working devices, please be sure the person knows the products and understands how the systems work.

unauthorized payment withdrawal
I canceled my service on August 18 2020 with a letter and a check for $270.00 for the remaining 6 mo. on my contract. On March 2 of 2021 I was charged $44.93. This was withdrawn from my checking account.I don't understand why you still have my account information. I am no longer one of your customers. I also have a copy of the $270.00 check that I sent you.
Desired outcome: I'm requesting a refund.
Home alarm
My home alarm has not been working for going on 4 week now.
I have tried several times to get this resolved.
I spoke with a technician yesterday March 9 and was told fo the third time that someone would be out to repair it to no avail.
Someone called my home Sunday and he said he left a message saying he would not be available on March 6. I took it upon my self to reach out to the service that left the message. He said he was waiting on the company to assign him. He said he would be out this Friday to repair it.
I have had this alarm for over 10 years.
I have no tolerance for a company who is receiving my money and does not want to live up to their product.
I have told the company I do not want their product anymore and I would like to get out of this contract without being liable to continue their services. I expect them to honor my wishes and void my contract.
Desired outcome: Void my contract Terminate my contract. I feel if I have been without security services for 4 weeks I don not need the product!
Trying to get service
In the past 3 weeks I have called the technical helpline. I have asked to have a technician come to my home (which I will gladly pay). The first technician went through a bunch of stuff and said she would call me back, because she had to get permission to send someone out. The 2nd technician was very helpful and spent over 30 minutes helping and setting up my service. He said a work order had been created and a technician would call me to set-up an appointment. Still no call
The issues are my doorbell does not work, the sky bell takes a while to connect (if it does), we had 2 doors replaced and the sensors need replaced. I am disabled and can't do this. Once again I know and I am willing to pay for the technician. I just need my system fixed.
I promise when my contract is up, I will go away and you will never hear from me again.
