I went to the Plato's Closet in Jacksonville with a garbage bag full of clothes and purses. They told me it was going to be 30 minutes and I could not leave the store. The 30 minutes turned into an hour and a hlaf...not fun when you have a toddler with you. When I was finally able to collect the money, the cahsier showed me what she was able to take (4 PAIRS OF PANTS A FEW SHIRTS AND A PAIR OF SHORTS) and offered me 25.00. I took it because I needed the money and I did not fit in those clothes anymore. Since I was planning on donating it anyways I just fiured I'd try to make a little extra cash before I went to the Salvation Army. When I got home to sort out everything for Salvation Army I realized that the purses were not in the bag. I was going to sell them on Ebay since they were not taken by Plato's Closet. I had a Dooney and Bourke, Fossil, Coach and a Vera Bradley in there. Those theives LIED about what they were really taking from me and did not give me what I was owed. I am EXTREMELY pissed off that this company makes a profit from stealing belongings that people brought in to help them with their business. Never again will this company get any of my business nor will I recommend them to anyone. Also, the clothes in the store aren't really "in". Atleast not at this location. You can also buy new and more stylish clothes at regular stores when they have sales.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
If you read the bottom of the buy for it says to make sure you have all of your items before you leave, theres a big thick paragraph you have to read and sign before they can process your buy and it says all of that. That makes it your fault!
Also, its completely impossible to print out labels to something not accepted in the buy, you would have gotten the correct price if they actually did take them. Theres no reason to lie about what was taken.
You can only pring out lables to something if its in the system already, so if there was more than one purse of that style in the system already and they coppied and printed it out agian then it would be a complete loss as soon as one of them was sold. It would show up as no longer in the system and any money made from that would be counted as a loss, so they wouldn't be able to keep it along with the money lost from selling it.
You realize that this particular company doesn't make seconds, right?
The same thing happened to my daughter in the St. Louis store (Kirkwood Road). Judging from complaints on the Web this type of stealing is common with Plato's Closet. AVOID PLATO'S CLOSET.
Wow totaly avoiding that store. My manager told me about them yesterday when she saw my dooney and bourke purse which I paid 285.00 for. She said she could get one of thosefor 20.00dollars at pPlato's closet. Im like no way. And from reading the comments, I would judge that any purses there were not the real thing or they were stolen. So not going there!
