I have been a Ralph's shopper since 1977. I am now a retired trial and appellate lawyer. I was adjudged 100% disabled by social security in 2021 and I now have cancer.
The Ralph's in Venice, CA routinely shelves and does other work in the am. The obstructions and clutter are inconvenient and dangerous. Almost every time I shop there it is dangerous navigating the aisles which are crowded with product, containers and employees. It is difficult for me to navigate my cart in my condition.
This morning, while shopping, I proceeded down an aisle that had piles of full containers on both sides and an employee on his (employee had shaved head, glasses and a gray mustache. I tried to navigate this obstruction because he lashed out hitting me and my cart. This wrenched my back and in a minute caused me to lose control of my bowels.
I stopped to ask the employee why he hit me. He said because I hit him with my cart. So, I asked him if he thought I did that deliberately. I got no answer, but another employee came over and kicked me out of the store. The employee with whom I was speaking countermanded that. I tried to explain that this was not deliberate and had been shopping there since 1977. The second employee stated that he did not care and that "if I did it again" I would be kicked out.
No point in discussing this further with them. At this point I lost control of my bowels ( a new experience) and to run to the restroom. After, I asked to speak to the manager Randy, but he did not come after he was paged.
This was an assault and battery upon a disabled person. Unless this is handled by Ralph's I will be filing suit. The practice of essentially closing off the aisles and shelving during customer hours is dangerous and done to save $$
Desired outcome: If these 2 employees are fired I will not file suit. Ralph's also needs to do something with its shelving operation to reduce these problems.
