cancellation policy
/I booked a resort for 9/2-9/9 in Orlando, FL. On 9/1 FL issued a SOE for 51 counties due to the hurricane, and the storm was also headed to Georgia where I live. I contacted RCI and spoke with a supervisor(Ray) who was very professional and helpful. Ray stated that they are still in the process of updating the cancellation policy(which states that in the event of a natuarl diaster RCI would issue a CREDIT in the amount of the fee to your acct and allow you to book another vacation, or UPON MY REQUEST refund the fee) to include the affected areas and to give them a little more time. He also said that they update the policy to cover areas where the I live in the event I was unable to leave my home to travel to my resort destination and that he was going to notate my account about our conversation. So when I called back on 9/2 I never expected that I would have an issue getting a refund since GA issued a SOE because of the hurricane as well. I spoke to another supervisor(Kristie) who told me if she cancelled my reservation for the natural disaster I could be issued a voucher in for the purchase amount and I had until 9/30 to book another reservation to travel up to 2 years. I asked her for a refund instead, Kristie stated that the policy is to issue a voucher because she only showed Florida Panhandle as a affected area. I then asked Kristie where was this policy located because that was not what is written in section 16.1-16.3 and she could/would not tell me. I then stated that I could not possibly book another reservation for this year because I had just booked a resort in July for my vacation and this was the only other time I was able to travel this year. And the 2nd option to book a future trip would cost me a min $124.00 to renew my membership for 1 year(RCI only allows you to borrow 1 year of points) and borrow from future points which is 21.333 points which was not going to be nearly enough because a future reservation would require a min 42, 000 points. So, basically I would lose my money. Kristie refused to adhere to the cancellation policy for natural disasters and was extremely unprofessional. I have never had such horrible customer service in my life for something that was out of my control! I have canceled my membership with RCI and I will never refer anyone to this company.
timeshare
Rci is a terrible company. They sold me on "mini vacations" that are totally worthless. I can beat their quotes online every day. I threw away $1200 on a 2 year trial subscription and I am kicking myself for it.
I can't even trade my points for tickets to universal studios - I lack the proper amount of points and can't roll over from another year. I get 10, 000 points a year. To convert them to tickets at universal studios, I need 12, 000. Stupid policy.
I am trying to salvage some part of my investment and am coming up short every time. Rci does not offer any value and has only been a headache to deal with.
Do yourself a favor — so not purchase anything from rci.
If anyone else files a class action suit, please contact me. I want in.
Thank you.
unprofessional employees
While vacationing at the royal solaris cancun resort, my boyfriend and I went to get information on a timeshare that partners with rci. After hearing the sales pitch we decided the timeshare wasn't for us and when we told the "closer" marco garcia that we weren't interested he became extremely rude, unprofessional and offensive. He told us that "I didn't come to you, you came to me", and if that wasn't bad enough he added "I already have your money". Rci should take a good look at who is representing their company, as marco garcia is a disgrace!
timeshare exchange program
Sold a vacation timeshare after an exhausting day of touring and sales pitch in July 2015. Purchased 1 week of unit at Canada House in Florida. Appeared to be a good value for our family vacations based on Trading Points for unit. We had no desire to stay at this unit as it is too small for our family. Again, purchased this timeshare for trading points only. Dissatisfied with the company for the following reasons: (1) Unable to deposit exchange week until annual maintenance fees paid for unit purchased. (2) Unable to pay maintenance fees until amount assessed in October. (3) Paid fees and began search for vacation to enjoy spring break in April 2015. (4) Spent hours and hours trying to understand website and trading options. The website is not user friendly. Read all the information provided. Completed tutorials. Spoke with consultants one the phone and had online chats for assistance. (5) Unable to locate accommodations for the location desired - units available were too small or undesirable. (6) Expanded search nationwide - still no units available as requested. The program is advertised as having thousands of units (options) worldwide. However, this is a huge overstatement. After spending hours and hours searching, we were unable to confirm accommodations as needed (date, size and location). Request release from membership ASAP.
I also bought at CanAda house. I banked my week soon as I was able too. I was told to book 45 days or less. Well now 3rd vacation this year and still no availability. When I spoke with manager she spoke to me like a kid. She would not let me speak. She wanted to do all the talking. When I felt I was getting no where I told her this phone call is pointless and I'm over it. She said she was too. This is how the management speaks to their customers who pay tons of money. But gets nothing in return. Not to mention my daughter is paying for this. She gave me a week. My mother . And her. My name is on it. But my 22 year old pays and her name is also on it. I feel like we just got robbed. We banked our week In return to pay for this and our 3 vacations we planned out of pocket! The 3rd one is coming up. Rci needs to get it together. The rude Manger telling me to be quite so she can tell me how it can benefit me and save me money. Unacceptable! Not knowing how to report her even more unacceptable! I was explainingredients what all I done and she was saying what everyone else says but yet no vacation through what we are paying for monthly... rip off. And that lady needs a attitude adjustment. Big time!
vacation packages
Do not purchase a vacation package from this company rci they are a total scam! I have spent a lot of money with this company however, I will never give them another dime. The most recent package I purchased was for $2, 199.00 for a 7 day cruise plus a 7 night stay at a resort or 2 or 3 night stay in a hotel. Today I went to book my 7 night at a resort and they tell me I do not have that option? It shows it on my account that I have a 7 day resort certificate? Rci tells me that I used it for a hotel stay when we went to porta vista in san diego for 2 nights? What? By the way porta vista is a dive and poor customer service, read there reviews. There reviews are just as bad as rci. Then beware of the cruises as there are all kinds of hidden fees, plus when you book a cruise there are port fees that you have to pay as well. They will not tell you that when you are purchasing a package. Buy and pick out your own vacation as it is way cheaper. Rci does not care about customer satisfaction, they are money hungry and will rip you off! I had also paid $259.00 for a resort in montana with both points and money and I had to cancel as my family member that was due to go with to this resort passed away 2 days before check in. They would not even reimburse my fee of $259.00 when there was a death in the family, really? Rci have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Beware of there scam! You will lose money by purchasing their packages!
We did tge same and bought a cruise, with the free week.the free week was supposed to allow for up to txo bedroom appts, to bring up to 4 guests.
I could nit get rci to book my selection for me, and i had no documentation, i kept watching the resort bookings which i needed at a particular date to fit with a holiday already booked, availability was going down and down, finally after about 15 calls i finally git my dicumentation, and then discovered that only i one bed was available, so no friends abke to come with us, the resort was the pearly grey. teneriffe.we dud nit chose it, that was the apts which we had to take.
My experience wuth trying ti organize my cruise has been a nightmare., at this point 23 calls so far, never called back.
Not even an e mail. From them when i paid ny last 1200 stg, we are irish so currency euro. We did know that .
We were told tgat we woukd get uo to 40% off, when we tried ti apply the code sent from RCI, that code expired in september 2014, i was trying to use the code in January 2016! !, they were still printing this code on their correspondence uo tp now. 4 th feb 2016.
They are without an exception tge worst comoany i have ever had tge misfortune to know
availability
I was just told today 17 October by Evelyn and Marelie Dorsling at RCI that in order to attempt to obtain a successful booking with a banked rci week internationally that I should look to put my name on a waiting list in excess of 2 years before I intend to travel. WOW! I have had RCI for many years and in the last 14 years have NEVER been able to exchange a week. Booking a family holiday more than 2 years in advance or alternatively 2 weeks in advance as was the other suggestion is absurd! What an insane suggestion! I will be selling my timeshare!
false sell
RCI told us that they booked a suite with King bed and a sofa bed. Calling resort, they said that they have a 2 double bed room for us and only RCI can change it. We paid 3000 dollars in all inclusive fees and spent 12 hours on phone to remedy the situation. RCI does not even acknowledge their mistake and is not willing to call Resort to fix this.
We have Wyndham and it absolutely impacts our experience. Wyndham uses RCI as their exchange company. Wyndham should be responsible for affiliations that they offer their members. It is a waste of money to buy their time share.
Maybe they are not acknowledging their mistake, or maybe you are trying to get an update for free and lying about what they promised you to do so.
ever changing rules
This will probably be a longer than you would like, but it is truly a reflection of how I feel about RCI, their rules and their fees. Once upon a time (22 years ago, when I purchased my timeshare and joined RCI), life was easy. I deposited my week, paid a fee and traded for a week somewhere else for vacation. Life changed and it changed for the worse, much worse.
First, they tried to talk everyone into the points system and wanted to charge large fees for the privilege. For those who chose to stay with the weeks program, they basically forced the points system on us anyway by assigning a value to each deposit and at least for many of us, our timeshare resorts got seriously devalued. So, what are the chances that any of us can find a unit we want to trade for that is worth exactly what our deposit is worth? I have two weeks on deposit; one is worth 20 and the other 18. Do you think I can find a unit for 20 points? No, I have to combine deposits and pay an additional fee, or trade for one of less value and then pay RCI to extend the remaining point value so that next year, I can again pay a fee to combine the remaining points with my deposit worth 18 points. Either way, they found a way to get more money from me. This of course in addition to my annual membership fees that keep going up in cost. Now, I find they have added another detrimental kicker to the whole process.
My deposit for the 20 points expires in May 2016, so I looked to trade for something before then. I found something for late December 2015, but the value of it was 25 points. OK, I needed to combine deposits to get this unit (a studio mind you in Florida to my two bedroom). My annual membership expires in October 2015, so they wouldn't allow me to make this trade until I extended my membership. OK, so now, I need to extend my membership, and then pay the fee to combine deposits, and then pay the trade fee and then the final surprise. The 18 point deposit that was going to expire in May 2017, the 13 remaining points would now expire in February 2017, because I was going to use 5 of the points to combine with to 20 point deposit. That's right; I was going to lose 3 months off of the time to use it. Once you combine any deposit, the remaining points expire two years after use it for combining. This way, I could spend more money to extend the time available to use it. That really, really was the final straw. I cancelled the extension of my annual membership, I did not proceed with the trade and I am writing to express my frustration. I so want to sue RCI for changing the agreement I entered into with them, for unilaterally devaluing my assets, while implementing a system designed to raise my costs by double and triple.
I would seriously like the various boards of Directors to consider contacting other resorts in like situations and appeal to them to join in a lawsuit. I can't imagine that everyone isn't feeling similarly about what is going on.
If something isn't done soon, I see no value whatsoever in keeping my timeshare. The cost is becoming prohibitive and the only option is to give it up.
I am wondering about the people who paid to upgrade from the credit system in RCI to the points system. Did the number of available locations increase substantially, as they claim? I feel like I am in between a rock and a hard place bc my Timeshare company switched from Interval International to RCI and now they want me to pay a substantial fee to switch to the Points system bc as people above, the "impartial people explaining how my new affiliation works" says that my resort won't have any value in the current system but I don't want to pay the substantial fee and have it turn out that it isn't any easier to book resorts. Please share your experiences if you have done the change. Thanks
Units offered by RCI in exchange for a banked unit is unfair and is not comparable in quality and size. RCI will not disclose the basis or formula RCI uses to determine what units are comparable or of similar quality and size. RCI members, particularly on the West Coast, please email me if you feel an unfair exchange was offered to you for your banked unit. Thanks.
With the economy being as it is, we anticipated difficulty in renting/selling our timeshare. Within 24 hours, we had 6 people contact us about purchasing, and even more for rental. We had priced it fairly based on market research, and sold it for the asking price within days. Thank you for a job well done!
I am amazed at how quickly my timeshare sold through www.rcinow.com I had 3 inquiries in the first week and one of those purchased the timeshare. Thank you so much. I will most certainly tell all my friends who have timeshare about this.
Im buy the Vacation Club in Dominic Republic and never receive the package. Im going to bank for cancel the second part because Im calling to Dominic Republic in August and never I receive papers about my Vacation Club. Im buying thah in July 2008 .

What is the problem?
RCI stands for Resort Condominium International. It is this company that those google complaints are written about. The company which treated me very well is Resort Connection International. They are good!
There are huge number of complaints about RCI, and legal proceedings. Just google RCI complaints!
on this comment, RCI is not the real guilty guy. People going to hard sales presentation buy expensive vacation package in great properties and LOTS OF PROMISES. If you buy at a gold crown resort, remember that there are few gold crown resorts out there. Therefore, when you exchange, you will have to accept a lower category otherwise, nothing will never be available for you and your family. Sales representatives in these big organizations are ALL wrong. Buy your timeshare or vacation program in 3 stars resorts, at cheap price and not necessary with a title dead. A right to use is just great if you find the right property. At least you know that your contract will get to a end and not leaving headaches to your legacy.
accomodation
To whom it may concern,
Myself and my husband have been a member of rci for 18 years. We recently booked a trip to damai beach resort through rci. I am writing this letter because what occurred both when trying to obtain details about the resort and confirming information and then what happened when we arrived at the resort certainly does not uphold the standard professed by rci:
“rci is the leading global provider of innovative products and services to the worldwide travel and leisure industry.”
When enquiring about booking the trip I often found that I had trouble understanding the operator as well as they often didn’t seem to understand what I was saying. My request was I wanted to book at damai beach resort but I needed to ensure that the accommodation meet my needs as a disabled person. I require a walker and whilst I can navigate a few steps any more than a few cause me quite a lot of difficulty – both me just getting up the steps causes pain as well as trying to get my walker up and down which I can only do if I have someone else with me. Because of this I asked for specific details about the rooms available. When I found out we were designated a hill top room that you can only get to by bus. I requested something more suited to my needs. After numerous phone calls I was told that there were 4 steps I would need to navigate to get to the room. Imagine my horror after travelling over 10 hours to find that in fact I had to navigate two flights of stairs in addition to the 4 steps I was informed about.
Unfortunately the accommodation suiting my needs as a disabled person was not the only complaint I have. When I received information about our room I was lead to believe that our rooms was one with a king bed, bunk bed and pull out sofa. The privacy was descried as 2 – which I was advised meant two separate rooms. Because we were travelling with my daughter and her child (Our grandson) we needed to have separate rooms. Again imagine all of our horror when we found that we were in one rooms with two double beds – I don’t understand how that can equal 2 privacy.
I constantly asked for confirmation of the layout of the room both in written forms and photos. My requests were not fulfilled. If I had of seen the stairs and the room I would have sought alternate accommodation.
The night we arrived we discussed this issue with the hotel manager. We showed our rci paperwork to the manager and he agreed that it read that we were to have ground room and I asked about the room with the 2 privacy. He advised this mistake must be rci’s as there were no rooms owned by rci of the description we believed we had booked i. E. Ground level room with two separate rooms. The hotel manager contacted rci and at one point we were advised that we needed to be in the lobby at 5.30 pm to discuss the issue with rci, however they never rang back. As I said we needed two rooms in order to enjoy our holiday to the fullest, we would never have booked a single room. As a result the only option we had was to pay $373 (Australian) for an extra room. We can’t fault the service of the manager as he allowed us to have two rooms on the ground floor (Despite rci actually owning none).
I feel the service from the time of trying to confirm the room type and if it met my needs to be pretty appalling. The result was that we ended up in a situation where myself, as a disabled person, was not safe and we did not have the privacy we had asked for. This impacted our holiday not just from the extra money we had to pay to resolve the situation but also because we have had to spend a considerable amount of time whilst we were on holidays trying to get in touch with rci to discuss the problem.
The feeling we got was that rci did not care and took no responsibility for what had occurred. When we arrived back we again contacted rci, they have since refunded $298 to us and are still investigating. I just really feel that rci need to review how they deal with bookings and confirmations in particular if someone has special needs such as a disability.
Even whilst the investigation has been occurring I still am feeling as though rci don’t care, because no one is acknowledging what is factual i. E. I was told there were 4 steps – this was not true, I was told I had a ground level room – this was not true – I was told we had separate rooms – not true.
I am now lacking total confidence regarding any further bookings with rci as I did not get what I believed and this impacted on my holiday and no one is acknowledging this.
From this I feel that you do not know how to service the disabled community. And that your descriptions of rooms are misleading. It seemed that the operators just wanted to tell me yes, and then I had to deal with the consequence when I arrived at the accommodation.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
misleading information
RCI lists hundreds of resorts as available for exchange however when you go to the resort on line and click on the week
you find a statement that due to recent activities the resort is no longer available. This notation stays on the site for weeks and weeks so as to provide a false sense of the real number of resorts available. In addition, when I go to book a vacation for an resort, RCI system does not confirm your vacation. I called RCI regarding this issue, a representative states that RCI have a glitch in their system.
We are spending a tremendous amount of money to bank our vacation, now RCI cannot provide the proper service for their customers.
Moreover, the customer service representatives are truly insensitive to our concerns. I am truly going to write the Federal Credit Trade and Consumer protection agency regarding this matter. This issue is long over due.
We need to make RCI accountable for their unprofessional and false representation services to their customers.
I hoping this issue will be resolved and respectfully.
Hi Robin, we're sorry to hear of your frustration and would like to look into this for you. Please email us at talktous@rci.com and be sure to include the details of what area/dates you were looking at and your membership number.

refusal to refund deposit
I'm not really sure which location this company operates from. However, I booked a trip to Reno, NV. for April 13th, 2014. I paid
$49.00 trip insurance which has in the past guaranteed that my deposit would be refunded should I need to cancel the trip.
I have done this in the past and received credit. However, this time they tell me that the insurance is only to guarantee
that I don't lose my week not a refund for the amount paid. This is a scam! I'm reading other complaints about this company that I have never seen before. In over 10 years of being a member I have never had this problem although we have had to cancel trips int the past. Where do I go from here?
My attitude towards this complain remains unchanged. I think talking to them is only going to result it some
mumbo jumbo. My understand has always been that a trip cancelled with insurance had the deposit refunded.
I'm not interested in anything but getting the refund now!
Hi, we are sorry to hear of any confusion on what Trading Power Protection includes. If you could please email us at talktous@rci.com with your membership number, we would be happy to take a look at your account.

not honest
We were offered a cruise/vacation package for 1600.00. Sounded good over the phone, as a matter of fact to good to be true. When I booked the cruise I had to pay and extra 1700.00 for a handicap room. That was problem number one. When I went to book our seven day vacation, it could only be booked a year in advance. Well most owners dont turn in their week...

Since RCI went on the trading power system they found other ways to rip you off. I have left over points (points balance they owe me) from a previous booking and want to combine them with points from another week. I can do this myself online with a few simple clicks of the mouse but they want to charge $109.00 to do this. In other words I have to pay for something they owe me! There has been numerous class action lawsuits brought against RCI over the years and they have lost them all. Is there any other options out there other than using RCI?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I've been a member of RCI since 1992. For years I've been able to bank a week and use it within the three years it's held, getting a resort where I want it when I want it. Then some years ago RCI goes to this weekly points trading power system, rating the "points" you have to exchange and decreasing them at will. So, I have a red season, one bedroom unit in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico that has high very high exchange value forever. Now, all of a sudden, because my week has been 'banked' for two years, my trading power is down to two (2) points. There is NO resort in their directory that allows you to exchange a week with two points unless it's in la la land during a la la land week!
So now RCI will ALLOW me to ADD those two points to the week I have just recently banked, but, it'll cost me $190.00 to do so. Now mind you, I've paid the maintenance fees for both of these time share weeks I've banked -- over $1200.00. But now RCI wants another $109.00 to add two measly little points to the 15 or so I will get for banking my current week. Then, of course, when I exchange the weeks, I'll be charged another $249.00.
So, you pay to belong to RCI, you pay your maintenance fees to own a resort, you have to pay an additional fee to "add" your measly points to another week and then you pay AGAIN to exchange. I'd like to know when did my time share lose so much value in RCI's eyes? Why did the exchange power fall so low after being banked only two years when it was never like that some years back? Simply, as 'old-timers' like me have discovered, RCI can no longer make money from someone like me so they INVENT systems that help the company generate money. They are holding your vacation club on a COMPUTER. No one is physically doing anything more than recording or better yet, verifying that you have put your time share in a 'space bank' -- as in cyber-space! It is UNETHICAL to arbitrarily reduce the value of someone's a-list time share because it is sitting in your cyber-space bank. The object is to get you to a resort so you can enjoy a vacation!
I've had my time share for 21 years and have been with RCI the entire time. Only once did I actually miss a vacation at my home resort or through one booked through RCI due to being inundated at work . RCI has made their money. Now they are just making it horrible to be able to use a week you have paid a maintenance fee for.
In this economy, it is understandable that some families cannot afford to take vacations as they use to and for that reason, RCI should stop high-jacking it's customers and give them back the trading power their resorts deserve.
Hoping to find a week that I can use before the end of June otherwise, I will let the week go. I refuse to pay $109.00 to add two points to my newly banked week which I will, hopefully, combine with my week in Mexico next year.
Hi Rick, hopefully this explanation will help clarify things. As before the enhancements, you still exchange a week for a week, but now if you exchange for a week requiring less trading power than your Deposit Trading Power, you get that difference between Deposit Trading Power and Exchange Trading Power in the form of a Deposit Credit that you can use toward a second exchange.
Combining Deposits and Deposit Credits is only an option and is by no means required. Having this option simply allows RCI subscribing members more ability to get a vacation that they want, but might not have had enough trading power to obtain in the past. If you have a Deposit Credit in your account, it’s important to know that even a Deposit Credit with a trading power as low as 5 has nearly 100, 000 vacation options at any given time.
We invite you to email us at talktous@rci.com if you have additional questions or concerns.

exchange secrets
I have tried working with RCI since the 1980- have purchased additional timeshares to accumulate points and travel. The RCI point system is blatantly false- Interval International points are like cash - no one has higher trading power because of a myriad of definitions as with RCI. If you search with them and your search is based on a particular unit with a "trading power" of 17 and someone in the line who has begun a search AFTER and has a trading power of 23 then they get the location. This would be if you and they were searching for the same exchange for the same week. This is absolutely a scam - and should be exposed. If you have the possibility of getting out of RCI do -it - this system is an absolute class action waiting to happen, and if anyone has an interest in doing so - please post and lets get started. BESIDE charging you every time you sneeze - they are ripping you off.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
RCI recently created a "trading power" system and forced it on those of us who have been with them for years! This new system is really a bunch of crap! When we first bought our timeshare, it was the "red" most valuable easiest to trade! This was explained to us because it is located in Hawaii, and it is a 2-bedroom. Now, because of this new trading power, they are telling me it is not as valuable and I don't have an easy time getting anywhere! Also in the last 6 years, RCI has not gotten us a place where we searched, and we had to settle for a different location! Please let me know when there is a class action lawsuit! I will be in on it! This is a good article about RCI:
http://www.timesharescam.com/blog/168-how-to-use-the-rci-timeshare-exchange-system/
Hello Lesf9. We are sorry to hear of your frustration. It sounds like there might be some confusion, as Trading Power is a part of the RCI Weeks program. The RCI Points program is different. For clarification on Trading Power and the RCI Weeks program, check out RCI.com/weeksenhancements. The new enhancements to the RCI Weeks program were added as part of the existing RCI Weeks program and are designed to offer more benefits, flexibility and choice to the RCI Weeks members.
When 2 or more members have an Ongoing Search for a specific area or resort, and they each have enough Deposit Trading Power to confirm the vacation that becomes available, the member who submitted their request first will match to the available vacation first. This is why it is very important to deposit and plan your vacation as far in advance as possible, especially if you are planning to travel into a highly demanded area and/or timeframe. The enhancements to the RCI Weeks program now allow you to combine Deposits in order to increase your Deposit Trading Power. Therefore, if you do not have enough Deposit Trading Power to obtain the vacation you want, you now have this option available to you.

I have also been a victim of RCI's unethical business practices. I own a week at a gold crown and banked it with RCI. Essentially losing a perfectly good week, because there was never anything of good quality to trade for, unless you want to go off season. It is very frustrating, not only dealing with their sales people, but their website as well. The idea sounded very good, but it is a huge waste of money. Obviously there are much better vacation deals than having to go through RCI, but I believed they were selling what they claim. A fair trade. Not true. FYI, there was class action already against them, The settlement seems to not have really benefitted anyone but RCI. 20% off a booking fee and such. Not your money back for membership, or points. Anyone who has dealt with them would agree, never again.
point system
When I bought my time share, RCI assured me that availability was not a problem because only members of the program can access the timeshares. I have since learned that availability is a serious problem, RCI engages in the practice of skimming a large percentage of the timeshares from the system, including many prime timeshares, and renting them to the general public at a profit to RCI, or selling them to vendors who then rent them to the general public. As a result, no matter how meticulously one follows RCI’s rules and procedures, and no matter how far in advance one begins looking for a desirable exchange, one simply cannot find available destinations. Since RCI does not allow extending points into the following year without a $99.00 payment one is forced to either forfeit the points or pay an additional $99.00.
I totally agree and, yes, I was told that my ongoing search wouldn't be filled because I only had 13 points (started with weeks--Red for Red straight across the board). But I have two weeks! Oh it costs you $129 to combine weeks now. Nothing to do with carry over. RCI has charged more each year for membership and has discounted my TS more and more. I feel like I'm being gouged for everything. As far as I am concerned RCI has no Customer Service. They are only interested in making more money at their members' expense. If RCI is as big ang bigger becuase of there fine Customer Service why do I fell like I am getting less and less each year? I guess the Class Action Suits have caused RCI to try to recoup all back by taking it out on other members.
Hi RWBurgh, we'd like to take this opportunity to provide some clarification and offer our assistance. While, we do rent inventory (which we obtain from various sources) under various circumstances, we will never rent inventory in a way that compromises the exchange system (in terms of quality or quantity). Furthermore, there is sometimes a misunderstanding around about RCI’s role in the timeshare industry. We do not sell timeshare or own or operate any timeshare properties. Instead, we provide exchange services to timeshare owners at our affiliated properties. This exchange service is designed to offer flexibility and choice to timeshare owners who are RCI subscribing members.
Typically, popular destinations during school break times and areas where we have few affiliated resorts are more difficult to exchange into. However, it does help to plan far in advance and to start an Ongoing Search at RCI Weeks affiliated resorts (which you also have access to as an RCI Points subscribing member). If you provide us with your account information we'll be happy to look into your account and recommendation some vacation options for you. You can email us at talktous@rci.com.
Please also note that Points are saved automatically at the end of the Use Year in which they were allocated, and there is no fee providing that you have used at least some of those Points in that Use Year. The fee you mention applies to extending more than 14, 000 Points into a 3rd Use Year (please note that you must notify us prior to their expiration).
We invite you to email us at talktous@rci.com to discuss your concerns further. Your satisfaction is our priority, so let's see what we can do to help get you an exchange vacation that you'll love!

I totally agree. I own in a crown resort and never can get an exchange, and the new system reguarding 10 pts, 21 points or whatever even though you are not on a point system is BS. Also there web site is down ever other sat to sunday so you are not able to exchange. When you call to exchange your week reps are not frriendly and definetly do not try to help! What is going on?
Hi Candee124, we found your comment online and would like to offer our assistance. We invite you to email us at talktous@rci.com with your account information and the details of where and when you are hoping to book an exchange vacation. We'll be happy to review your preferences and provide some options for you.
Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon!

lynn hunter
We just paid for our renewal membership for 2012, we have owned for a year and one of the sales pitches used by Lynn Hunter and his crew was that they would help us sell points for a few years to help pay the bill down since we were not able to use the points for at leat three years. The man who sold us the deal left Mr. Hunter's team shortly thereafter leaving us with no one but Mr. Hunter himself to help us. He assured us that we were one of a few clients he was keeping and working with personnally, however, when you can reach him he is busy out of state, can't help us with the problem or simply does not want to deal with buyers after he gets his commission. We had to take out a loan to pay off the plan and now look at 1000.00 payment each month for the next several years. He assured us we could sell enough points in the first couple years to pay it off. What happened Mr. Hunter? Is this the way you treat all your clients, or just retired military. If anyone reads this please contact me at [protected]@yahoo.com or by phone to tell me if you can help.

Hi Cindy. We found your post and would like to share your comments with our team that manages our relationships with our affiliated resorts, but before we can do that we need to confirm which resort this occurred at. Please email us at talktous@rci.com with that information and any further comments. Hopefully this helps!

sells your info; you'll be hounded by calls!
We have owned a local time share condo for many years and last year decided to trade our location through RCI -- just for a change. I hated the process, because you have to pay the fees and give up or "bank" your own condo week before you can even search to see what other destinations are available. After we banked the condo, we could not find a destination within 8 hours driving time that we wanted. But, we could not get our other one back. We were supposed to have two years to find a place, but if you don't re-join RCI the second year, you cannot even search for destinations anymore. Then, the worst part of all... they provide your name and contact information to other companies who will then flood you with calls day-in and day-out to ask you to rent or sell your time share. Now that it is near summer time (when we have our time share week), we have NO PEACE at home with these phone calls. I have now asked for RCI to put us on their "do not contact" list, and we will never do business with them again. We didn't know what we were in for.
Despite RCI is one of the biggest timeshare exchange companies in the world, you still have to be very careful before exchanging your week, as there are many things that could go wrong during the process. Take into consideration that you have to book the resort as soon as possible, sometimes even up to two years in advance, which can be a problem for some families. Also, you must know that a membership fee needs to be paid, whether you exchange your timeshare or not. This is a good article on How to use the RCI timeshare exchange system:
http://www.timesharescam.com/blog/168-how-to-use-the-rci-timeshare-exchange-system/
Hi neveruseagain, we found your post and would like to offer our assistance with finding an exchange that's within driving distance from your home. We'll just need you to email us at talktous@rci.com with your account info so that we can reach out to you about your vacation options.
At RCI, we value our members and place great emphasis on protecting the privacy of member information. To that end, we do not sell or rent member information.
Also, please note that these third-party companies you mention may be using information they gather from public sources to contact RCI members. Since we don’t sell timeshare, you should use caution when dealing with an entity claiming to be selling by or on behalf of RCI. If you have any further questions about this, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly.
Hope to hear from you!
