Firstly, I stood at the counter trying to get the employees attention but they ignored me because she was in conversation with 2 other employees. Then, I explain that I wanted an exchange but she rudely tells me to get the item and wait in line. Don't know about you but other stores get the item for you! That's not what I'm mad about, it's just how rude she said it like I had interrupted her when she was in a conversation. Anyway, I went to the counter because there was no one in line and another employee signaled me to go. Annoyed that I have to be treated like a nausance whenever I just want to shop.
actions taken by manager against employee
Lanstown Ross Virginia Beach Va 3312
A young man named Marco had just helped us after our card had been locked and had finished the transaction when he called the next customer. The manager named Eddie as the employee told Marco to go home and when the man asked why Eddie said talking to much. The young man was helping us and I find this outrageous. I talked to Marco in the parking lot after to gather information about this and he left confused and upset when before he was joyful and happy. Personally as being helped by the young man I felt if unjust that he had no further explanation and was just send home after being so efficient and joyful. He made me feel happy about visiting my local Ross and the actions of his manager made me sick. The young man told me it was fine he didn't want to be mad at Eddie and would speak to is store manager in the morning Eric, but still I feel like this diserves greater attention. A young man is putting himself to work does it with a smile and makes the customer smile is amazing and is a perfect picture for Ross, on the other hand the actions taken without reason other than talking was rash and unethical. Is that what Ross depicting for the rest of there employees good customer serivce is bad. I hope to see more of the young man soon and others like him. And a lot less of the actions taken by Eddie.
child's winter coat
I purchased a child's winter coat at Ross in September. A beautiful warm coat. Earlier this month she wore it twice due to somewhat frigid temperatures. After the first time she wore it I threw the tags and receipt away, of course, I had no intentions of not keeping the beautiful coat. Well Saturday, was very windy, snow flurries and it was freezing we were headed to the store I went to zip up my daughter's coat and the bottom part of the zipper, the part that goes up into the zipper, broke off into my hand. Apparently it was weak and did not take much for it to break off the coat. This is a manufacturer's defect, no fault of my own. or my daughters, I don't know why I am stuck with a defective coat. I was told they would make an even exchange they don't even have a coat in her resides in the let alone the same coat right now. They also said they might not ever have that coat in the store again. Again I don't know why a manufacturer defect becomes my loss. When are isn't even here yet and I have to go purchase a new coat. This is quite unfair!
The part that a lot of people doesn’t understand about these discount stores (DDs, Ross, TJMax, Marshals, homegoods, etc, etc) is that everything you buy is irregular clothes, and items... please people, understand. Is not hard to follow the exchanges and return policies. They are very simple! Remember Dept stores and Discounts stores are TWO different monsters...
customer service
I came into ross before 12 pm. I came in and I knew that I wanted some new earrings and a ring at the jewelry counter. As I stood by the jewelry counter I waited for someone to come and help me. At this time there were 3 employees by the cash register. The store was not busy at all and there was no line. No one came to assist me. I waited another 10 minutes to see if someone would come help and assist and no one came. At the time I seen 2 employee ringing up 2 customers at the same time. I asked for help and they said they would assist me. I waited and still no one came. They continued to ring up ppl the would walk up to the register with no wait. As I wasn't pleased... That they were taking ppl and ringing them up as they came to the register with no line and kept me waiting and those other customers didn't have to wait at all. I then went to the dressing room associate and mentioned to her no one is helping me and curious as to why when the store wasn't busy I mentioned to her I seen 3 emplyees at first and then only two can she get someone to assist me. She got on her headset and told them someone needed help at the jewelry counter and that I was on my way other there. I got back to the counter and still no one helped me. I waited for another 10-minutes or so until I sent my daughter back to the dressing room employee so can relay the message again. She did. Still no help. It wasn't until I yelled "excuse me but may I please get some help here I have been waiting for a long time". An employee came over by the name of symonae. She didn't apologize for the wait. She told me that if there is a line we must ring up customers. I advised her that there wasn't a line at all and it was slow, and I didn't appreciate them ringing up people that would walk up before helping me. I also mentioned to her that someone could have gotten another employee to assist me because I have been waiting almost 30 minutes to get assistant in a store that wasn't busy or packed at all and didn't have a line. She then got very unprofessional and asked what did I want. I told her the two items I wanted and she told me to get in line behind 2 other ppl. I reassured her that I have been waiting a really long time and would appreciate if she could ring me up due to me waiting for an employees assistantance and the fact that I have been waiting way before those 2 ppl even got line. She made me get in line and was very rude. I am a single mother of two and I had my baby 8 months and daughter 8 yrs accompanied with me. My time is very valuable and customer service is very important to me. I do a lot of shopping at ross and i've never had an issue until today. I spend my hard earned money here all the time and to treat a customer this way was totally embarrassing. It's sad to say that I will longer be shopping here store due to the way I was treated.
manager at the lawton branch
This complaint is against the manager named Tommy at the Lawton, OK branch. On Saturday October 20th, 2018 a busy Saturday with a line of customers as I approached to check out not only did he leave he had another checker leave so I was unable to check out and told me to go stand and wait for another guy that was busy with an arm full of clothes I was trying to purchase. Customers should always come first before Letting himself and other workers leave for breaks. I will not be returning to this store. I just spent $200. While I was complaining to him about his behavior he rolled his eyes and walked away. This store is in a bad part of town with questionable management and this does not excuse his behavior. You have now lost a customer that spends hundreds of dollars a month at your store.
double desserts play doh sweet shoppe
Hi,
I brought Double Dessert s play doh sweet shoppe set from my nearby Ross dress for less store.By mistake my 3 years old kid opened it and started playing the set. After some time I saw that 7 very important parts were missing from the set such as 3 oven molds, server, scoop and 2 plates.
It's very disappointing that, such a reputed store can make this type of mistake while serving the customer. Now it is opened and used by my kid, so I cannot return it too.I called the store person, but I got very rude response.
Please take care of this for next time.
store manager
Was trying to buy a wallet yet had no tag on it, the associate grabbed a different style wallet (same brand) and proceeded to ring that wallet up. When I mentioned it's not the same wallet (her response, it's the same brand, I don't sell any wallets for that price) I said (but it's not the same [censored]n wallet) she then said she wouldn't ring me out and that I had to go to another line. What a store manager! Zip 78665 Angelina I think her name was. [censored]ty mood from the get go- won't be back to this location ever again.
If you wouldn't treat people like garbage, they would be more willing to help you.
rude associate
I was at the Ross in Griffin Ga this morning 10/0/8/2018. I came to the register to check out. The cashier was talking to another employee about food and what to get. The only communication I got from her was that I could step up to the register, then how much my total was and that was it. The whole time I was standing there she was talking to the other associate and arguing about what to get for food. I Love Ross but the cashier needs to learn customer service skills.
store manager
Simi Valley store manager Joseph
Is very rude to customers. I entered store today at 10:10pm and began shopping dresses. This so called manager started behaving crazy. I just started shopping and the manger yelled multiple times "These ladies are making mess". PLEASE CHECK THE STORE CAMERAS THE TIME WE SPENT PICKING THE DRESSES & THE MANAGER BEHAVIOR. I have never seen such a manager not respecting their customers. There has to be action taken on this manager so other customers don't exeperience the same.

I just want to give my opinion. I know I'm nobody to judge you over your company. I love your company but if I was you I wouldn't like customers to say negative things about my company. Ross is great but I think you need to treat us more fairly. The reason I say fair is because I don't know if you order that to the managers or they make their own decision. I know you pay 11 dollars an hour that's good but you only give us twenty hours every two weeks two days per week. I don't think that's fair . I make like 200 dlls. every two weeks. I also have family and bills that I have to pay for. With that amount it seems like if we are working for and at another country not the United states. Also, like i tell you it's not my company maybe you don't care about my opinion but I really like your company and would like to hear positive things about your company cause I care for Ross. You should also have two janitors one in morning and one afternoon. The customers are always complaining that they are dirty, nasty. I don't know who you send to clean and how many hours you give them but all the Ross stores that Ive been to their is alot of dust everywhere. Sometimes when I'm in the fitting room and don't have any customers in the fitting room i try to get the broom and sweep the floor around the fitting room. Cause sometimes the clothes gets dirty and the customers ask right away if they can have a % off because it's dirty. For right now that's all I have to tell you. Hope we hear positive things about Ross. Hope Ross cares about their employers and customers.
customer service
I've shopped at the Ross store in Oregon City, Oregon for 40 years. I have never had any issues with any of the staff there, in fact, they are always so eager and helpful. However, I was shopping yesterday morning and had some trouble finding a duvet cover to fit my bed. I spoke to a really nice lady at the register and she directed me to an area of the store. As I was walking towards the area I tried to get the attention of one of the workers. I had a hard time seeing her name tag but I asked her name and she said it was January? I'm not sure if she was just making that name up or if for certain that is indeed her name. Anyhow. She was extremely rude to me. She told me she is a manager? and that she was busy with managerial duties and that I should go ask one of the other employees. I was baffled and stunned to be treated in such a manner. I immediately left the store and will not be back to any Ross store if this is the kind of people they hire to help customers. Thank you.
employees
I went to the Ross in Lake Mary and there is not one customer at the register and the employee asked me to walk through this line which is like walking through 50 feet of line instead of just moving the rope so I can go under the rope and then I see the manager so I ask him and he agreed and said yes I have to walk through the line in order to get waited on. He did say I could ring you up over here but I said it doesn't matter to you that somebody doesn't want to buy something because there's not one customer here and you're making them walk through the maze and he said sorry. If there is not one customer at the register it's ridiculous to make a customer walk through the series of lines in order to pay for one item that I was getting. And no one was sympathetic to this they were all arguing with me.
It's policy
customer service
I was in line at Ross in DuBois Pa yesterday. The line was long. There were two cashiers taking turns waiting on customers. All of a sudden the one cashier decided to head to the phone after checking out a customer and place an order for two pizzas while customers stood and waited! I have never seen such a thing occur! After she ordered the pizzas she then made another phone call to tell somebody the pizzas were two for $18.99! When she was finished on the phone she then announced she would take the next person in line. Just couldn't believe what I was seeing! I just had to write this down. Unbelievable BUT true!
Employee racially motivated inappropriate behavior
I arrived at perimeter in dunwoody ga. As always if I am in the area I visit your store beside target. (store 0848) michael is store manager.
As I walked into store I make my usual way which leads along the men show section. I quickly zoomed in this peculiar nike af1 high-top... I liked them so much I decided to potentially buy all 5 pairs. I went grabbed a shopping cart and then after walking through xyz of sections made my way to the front where I then unloaded the shoes on the the counter by the check-out register. I wanted to examine each pair cause of potential glue residue or scuff marks just to make sure I don't buy any that have irreversible blemish. As I was conducting my usual routine, especially when buying alot that encompass the spending of several hundred dollars, a customer walks up and grabs one of the shoes. I then state I am actually buying all these shoes! Which the lady responded why are you buying all these shoes! I then said just because! She again stated no why!? I then stated mam that's actually not your business! She then replied, yes it is and added they actually still in the store and on the counter which makes them free to choose from! I then stated I guess trump is president, kavanaugh is guilty which makes all of us subject of getting ridiculed any time. She then replied that's right! And the employee behind counter with the name shanice adds sir I need you to leave the store! I were totally shocked because she really teamed up with the customer, which was of the same ethnical background as her, (black american), as I replied I didn't do anything! I then immediately stated I will contact her district manager ms. Danielle. Which the customer replied I know danielle you can't scare us! The employee shanice then grabbed all 5 pairs of sneakers which now totally made me uncomfortable and very disrespected not to mention she now potentially scuffing up the shoes which were truly in immaculate condition! I then walked immediately to the store manager mr. Michael who was operating one of the registers nearby. I told him how uncomfortable I was and he needs to stop his employee of ridiculing me, including taking sides and ostracizing me for no reason whtsoever including taking sides with the customer who was super intrusive and rude towards me just because she did not like I am buying all these cool looking shoes all at once! Michael just brushed all off, basically ignored me and said ok! I then had the shoes placed by register when the customer walked up to me telling, putting finger in my face, threatening me to bust me over the head, and how am I talking to the employee I need to be put down! That's when shanice then grabbed all shoes again and said you need to leave! Which I then grabbed the two left pairs and walked over to michael's register. He then immediately added sir you need to get in line and don't block other customers. I were totally stunned by not only the employee's frivolous super judgmental and extremely unprofessional behaviour but as well of michael's who had all the authority to calm the entire down so it would have not escalated where it actually ended up at just because he let shanice acted out and in a manner totally inconsistent with ross's protocol! I probably spend several thousand dollars going into 6 figures over the last decade with ross dress for less! I know several stores, dm's, store and assistant managers as well many employees from miami all the way to atlanta! Ms. Sharon at moreland store caroline street, mr. Nicholas at camp creek and so many more. I established a very professional courteous and genuine rapport to numerous employees of the ross corporation through the last several years, but what happen today and two other times at this particular store is absolutely unacceptable! I am stunned and disgusted by the nonchalantness michael as a store manager projected thus let the entire escalated including letting the customer speak super loud for no reason, other then rude, jealous, and overbearing, in my face in front of several customers & employees! Wooooooow! Totally sad! Btw I contacted the dm ms. Danielle who actually never follows up! I am all left alone and see it's nothing but discrimination and all black employees stay teaming up and ridicule / snap at customers whenever they truly feel like!
manager/supervisor
This complaint is in regards to Terri Weber. In regards to Store #351 in Ft.Worth, TX. She is a VERY RUDE person. She is always cursing, being very negative, and rude towards her employees. She on 1 recent occasion made a comment around several of us employees that 1 other employee had asked about taking their break cause they hadn't had one and she said the person was "being a b****", cause they were complaining that they hadn't had their break. This is wrong in so many ways. Especially labor laws... I know most in her position don't care if they offend anyone of their employees, because it will be their word against hers/theirs. With the ways things are now a days I would be concerned for my job cause we can all be replaced. All the employees are afraid to report her, because no one can afford to lose their jobs.

A pair of shoes had gluing defects on the rear part and i was simple asking if there was an additional discount for the malfunction, manager that checked me out responded very unprofessional and in defense snapping at me saying no, you can wipe that off easily, and i was trying to show her the defects, speaking to her telling that i work in retail and am aware of how customer service is to be taken, as a manager you shouldn't speak with bias or with lack of respect when approached in a situation. She labeled her manager title like a snicker as to why she has the audacity to speak the way she did in front of other people. I am already aware that it's possible to give out an additional 10% with final sale. I took the shoes either way but I will have to go elsewhere to fix the damages, making the price even more for a shoe. It's a department store where they should be much aware of product defects, I am an assistant recruiter stylist at Michael Kors and am very upset with the personal attack on this management style. attached are the receipt details. the shoes were the 16.99 ones. These were meant for a gift for my mother.
sexual harassment and racial profiling
The Ross I'm complaining against is the Ross in Palm Springs on 10th Avenue and congress.Absolutely the worst Ross to shop at.i complained to corporate last year and never got a call back.this time I went and an employee purposely drop an item on the floor to find an excuse to sniff and or get a close up of my husbands @$$.i could not believe my eyes .every time I go to this store I have a bad experience.also don't bother asking for a manager.i tried that once and they told me they don't have a manager.i will take my money some where else I don't have to deal with racial profiling and sexual harassment.also when I complained to the same security who accompanied the employee I'm talking about the security caught an attitude.
dressing room/unprofessional/unethical behavior
I visited the Ross store in Chino CA with my daughter, we like to go there for their workout clothes since my daughter and I have been working on ourselves to be healthy. This particular day my daughter decided to try on a summer dress and she went to the dressing room as I waited for her outside. When she walked out she was in tears and I asked what had happened and she didn't want to tell me. So I kept on pressing until she did and she told me the dressing room attendant named Denise made a comment to the security guard as my daughter handed her the dress she said "I don't know why they grab this size if they know they don't fit in it" so this lady literally body shamed my daughter and broke her spirit. I immediately asked for a supervisor and spoke to Crystal who would only offer me an apology because the store manager was on vacation. I asked for the store manager to call me and she did not. I called a week later spoke to the store manager Nancy who only stated she was waiting on HR to see how they would handle the situation I asked her to call me and let me know what they would be doing to correct the issue. Another week has gone by and no call! I called corporate who stated they would call me back in 5 business days well its been two weeks and no call! This was truly so hard and heartbreaking for me and my daughter who by the way has lost over 20lbs she's worked so so hard and didn't deserve to be treated this way!
a rude manager
I was at the cashier area checking out my purchases and one of my items did not have a price. My cashier asked the manager Melanie who was across from her also on a cash register ringing up customers what would the price be for the item. The item that I was purchasing was some rope and it did not have a price tag on it. She told the cashier to look up the item and to see if she can find it and if not, find a item and pick something that was $10 in that range. The cashier charged us $ 9.99 for the rope. I asked the manager was $ 9.99 the price for the item? Can someone please go and check for the correct price? The manager Melanie loud and rudely stated it's not going $2.99 if that's what your thinking. The store was packed with customers waiting in line. Everyone in line was looking at us. It was very very embarrassing and I can't believe that was a manager talked to us and treat us that way. Because she was so rude and ugly to us we did not purchase the Rope . This happened at the Hiram Georgia store on September 15th at 1:30 p.m. store number 0 5 5 6, cashier # 605-5705 that rung us up. I shop at Ross often and I've never had an employee, especially a manager to treat me so rudely and so tasteless. I call back to ask what was the name of that manager.
A salesperson answer the phone and told me her name is Melanie but told me she did not know her last name and would not give me it and hung up in my face.
customer service
This complaint is based on my visit to Ross in the city of Bell Gardens, CA. I went during lunch time to make a quick exchange. The only cash registers that were open were the two where an exchange or refund is usually made. The two employees, Ana and Marycruz, were only calling customers that were standing in the purchase line and were purposely ignoring the three people standing in line to make an exchange/refund. Not once did they acknowledge us or let us that we will be assisted next. After waiting in line for approximately 15 minutes I decided to leave. Better customer service is the key to not losing customers. I suggest some training and better managing of the store.
