My experience with Samsara has been really bad
My experience with Samsara has been really bad. They messed up right from the start by sending me the wrong equipment. On top of that, they made a mess of my billing. I haven't been able to get a single video from any of the cameras in my fleet. It's been a while, but I still haven't heard back from customer service regarding any refunds. They also haven't resolved the problem of not receiving any videos or getting the cameras to work properly. This company is just terrible, and my overall experience has been absolutely awful.
Communications are horrable!
Communications are horrable! They dont answer their emails, customer service is a joke. I have been trying to opt out of their marketing spam for months now. The opt-out button on their *** communications/invites apparently does nothing and returns an error message asking you to check your email address. If they're this bad at such a simple task, I wouldnt ever want to be one of their customers. Totally annoyed. Too bad they dont have a score lower than 1 star.

Samsara is really good at tricking you with their fancy talk. They promise you all kinds of stuff to lure you in, but once you agree, you're stuck in a three-year deal. I have emails from their salesperson saying it would only be a one-year contract, but now I'm stuck for three years. Their customer service is terrible, and their GPS system is useless. It never gives accurate or up-to-date information. The system always messes up and loses data. And guess what? Customer service always blames our trucks for the problems. This is one of the worst GPS services we've ever used. They're so dishonest and unethical. We've only been dealing with this nonsense for a year, and we're already thinking about buying out our contract and finding a more reliable and honest company to work with. If I could rate it lower than one star, I totally would.

I would give Samsara Billing less than 1 star if I could. They went to consolidated billing and can't seem to help themselves from billing a little extra each month. The original billing comes from when you buy new camera service. When consolidating billing came about, the Billing Department couldn't figure out how to do that. I have now paid 2 full months of consolidated billing and somehow the brains of the billing department come up with one extra charge each month. I was told, never on the phone just by some snipe email, that it is to balance the account. I fixed them, I pulled the credit card so they can't take anymore of our money until someone from the dimly lit billing department of Samsara calls me on the phone. For this reason, I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND SAMSARA TO MY WORST ENEMY!

Had a really bad experience with the billing department at Samsara. They don't even answer their emails. No phone number to call them. I have a contact that says I only need to give them 1 month notice and return the device, and that's exactly what I did. But now they're telling me I have to pay a cancellation fee of $640 and return the device. Nowhere in the contract does it mention a cancellation fee. I've sent them multiple emails asking for a notice or contract that mentions the fee and requires my signature, but they're just ignoring me and keep charging me every month. It's been 4 months now and I've been trying to call them, but nobody is willing to help. I don't recommend them to anyone, please stay away. There are so many other providers that are more friendly and transparent. Don't even bother trying to call them.

Stay away from Samsara! We've been with this company for over a year and the prices for the service and shipping are ridiculous and unaffordable now. They charge $116 to ship three small key fobs to us, which cost $12 each. Nowhere do they clearly state a cancellation clause - I've been searching everywhere for it. But they're telling me that we'll have to pay "a fee that is equal to a year of service for each device you are returning" as a penalty. And this is even if we return all the equipment. You're trapped. It's like a gym membership scam. Listen to the countless negative reviews and stay away from this unethical company. They sent me a link to their terms of service, which clearly states that they reserve the right to change the terms at any time, and just post it on their website. This is absolutely horrible gouging and I agree with the other reviews that call them 'bait and switch.' And while I'm trying to get resolution with them, their attitude is too bad. They won't try to help, they won't discuss it, their response is tough - here's the link to the terms on our website so you're stuck. How is this even legal?

I should have been more careful before signing the contract. Today I learned a valuable lesson: never trust a salesperson and always do your own research. My salesperson, who shall remain nameless, lied to me about the length of my commitment. They told me it was only one year, but the contract turned out to be for three years.
Initially, I was looking for a dashcam company and decided to give Samsara a try before making a final decision. I received a call from them and requested one device for a month to see if it suited our company's needs. The salesperson informed me that their minimum offer was three devices for one year. I hesitated, but ultimately accepted the offer. So essentially, it was a one-year trial period.
After three months of use, I realized that Samsara was not a good fit for our company. I decided to stop using it and left it untouched for nine months. Unfortunately, I had already paid for the full year upfront. About a month before the year was up, I contacted them to cancel the account. My intention was to prevent any automatic renewal, but that's when I discovered it was actually a three-year contract. It was then that I realized I had been deceived by the salesperson.
Despite the ongoing promotion materials I receive from them, the salesperson has stopped responding to my emails. When I contacted the billing department to explain the situation, they were unaware of the full story and asked me to pay an early termination fee of $1,227.80. I explained the entire situation to them, and they assured me that they would forward it to the manager, whose name I won't mention here. However, I have yet to receive a response. I will update this review if and when I do.
I could have waited for a response from the manager, but I have already been dealing with this issue for a month. It's such a waste of time.

Samsara is a bad company. The guy who sold us their stuff lied to us just to get us to sign up. When I talked to him at first, I told him about my bad experience with another company and asked if I could cancel and about the contract. He said I could cancel anytime with 60 days notice. So I signed up for the service in February . But then COVID-19 happened and our production went down by 80%. So I contacted them to cancel after 2 months into the contract. They said I had to pay for the whole year of service. I reminded the salesperson about our talk, but he just said sorry for the misunderstanding. I kept paying until I couldn't afford it anymore. In December, I contacted them again, thinking I only had 3 months left on the contract. I paid the overdue amount and told them I was canceling when the contract ended, which I thought was February . But they told me my contract was for 3 years. I told a lady in accounts receivable that I would return the equipment. She said if I mailed it to them, they would mail it back! That's illegal. The salesperson knew he lied when he said I could cancel with 60 days notice. It's unbelievable how other companies made allowances for small businesses during COVID-19, but not Samsara. They're just greedy and mean. They can see in their database that we haven't been using all the devices and haven't used any since December. But they still want money from a struggling company. I tried to negotiate with them to stop the service, but they only care about money. They even charged my credit card without asking. I guess they'd rather see a company go bankrupt than let them out of a contract.

I've spent a lot of money on Samsara stuff for my vehicles and equipment. I rely on Samsara for IFTA reporting for some of my fleet. I've had lots of times where the units don't report or work. I've called Samsara's support and they give me lots of reasons and excuses. I've tried to contact someone in management many times, but no luck. I could just give up on Samsara, but then I wouldn't get my money back and I'd have to go through the annoying task of replacing everything. I really want to talk to someone in management.

The company I work for got services from Samsara for vehicle tracking and refrigeration monitoring. They said the refrigeration monitoring devices would work with our vehicles, but they didn't. They kept saying they had something that would work, but it's been 3 years and still nothing. They charged us $3,619.20+ tax every year, so that's over $10,857.60. I asked for a credit for last year's charges, but they're giving me the runaround again. How do companies like this stay in business? It's not acceptable and there should be consequences for this. I attached an email thread where we talked to one of their reps about the devices not being compatible and that we don't want to continue with them. The email is from 4/28 and our renewal date was 07/29.

We're tryin' to get a replacement ELD and cable for a specific tractor. The original model they gave us didn't fit our tractor. *** sent back the original ELD and cable like they told us to. But now, no Samsara employee can give us the right model for this tractor, and I'm bein' ignored by sales and tech support. Nobody answers their phone and they ain't helpin' at all. *** checked their webstore and found some potential cables/ELDs that might work, but we don't wanna buy 'em 'cause the webstore wants a monthly contract. I signed up with Samsara in March . After a couple of months of technical issues and not getting my problems resolved by the technical department, I decided to switch to a different provider. According to my contract, I have to give them one month's notice in advance and return the device, which I did. However, the following month I was charged again. I asked for a copy of the contract with my signature, where I supposedly agreed to the fee, but they are ignoring my request. It is now January 2022, and I have already sent three emails, but still no reply. My account is still active, and my bank account is being charged monthly as usual. I have attached my contract for you to review, as well as the cancellation form they sent me after I contacted them to request cancellation. I am requesting that my account be canceled immediately and that I be refunded for the four months of service that I was charged.

I bought 7 devices from Samsara around 2 years ago, but recently, about 7 months ago, the Samsara devices started acting up. The connection was bad and there was no record of duty status. They didn't work properly, and as a result, my drivers received violations from DOT officers due to the issues with the Samsara software. I tried addressing this issue multiple times, but the Samsara representatives completely ignored me. Consequently, my drivers started quitting on me. So now, instead of having 7 trucks in my fleet, I only have 3 left. Samsara has caused me to lose a lot of business.
I then asked Samsara for their mailing address because I wanted to return the equipment to them. However, Ally *** refused to provide me with the address and instead threatened me with fees of around $1700 per device. They gave me 7 devices, but I can't afford that amount of money. Now they are asking me to pay $2600 for all 7 devices, even though I only use 3. I am willing to pay for only the 3 devices on a month-to-month basis. I simply don't have $2600 because my drivers quit due to the poor quality of Samsara. I don't have enough money to cover my operational expenses, so this $2600 will put me in a difficult financial situation. Please help me get justice.

I bought 3 GPS/camera gadgets from Samsara on a 30-day trial in February . After the trial, I liked the features in my bundle. So, I added 12 more units over 9 months. Suddenly, they removed some important features, like vehicle diagnostics reading on the mobile app. I knew maintenance wasn't included, but I thought I'd still get the diagnostic reading. I called Samsara, and they said it was just a trial. I told them a trial should've ended in the first 30 days, not after 9 months and adding more units. Their solution was to add more features and charge me more. That wasn't what we agreed on, so I refused and asked to return the units. I already paid around $5040, not including shipping. I paid upfront for a year of service, about $336 for 12 months, which is $28 per unit per month. Now they want over $5000 to cancel the service. Some devices are only a few months old. They did a bait and switch. I tried to reach a supervisor, but no luck. It's like buying 100% cotton shirts, getting 3 cotton shirts to try, ordering 11 more cotton shirts, and then getting polyester. When I called to ask what happened, they said they sent the wrong product from the start. This is bait and switch. Because of this inconvenience, I want them to waive the cancellation fee, refund my money, and give me an extra $250 per unit for installation/removal. They'll get all their units back. I asked for a return label for the last 2 units, which are under 30 days old and haven't been installed yet. But I still haven't received the prepaid return label. My account number is my email ***.

Samsara is terrible, they have unrealistic expectations, poor communication, and sneaky videos. We weren't too happy with our current fleet tracking, so we checked out Samsara and thought about getting dash cams too. The videos are good, but they don't show the whole picture. Samsara managed to "hook us up" with a deal for both, and we could try them out for 30 days. We only wanted to try one of each, but they said we had to get at least 3 trackers and cams for 30 days, and we had to sign up for a whole year in advance! Instead of paying for shipping twice, we got them for our entire fleet. Suddenly, our 30-day trial started, and we hadn't even received our stuff yet! So after I complained through a bunch of emails and texts, Samsara gave us a 45-day extension. The installation of the cables wasn't as easy as they make it seem, and it cost $120 to have just one camera and tracker professionally installed. After about 3 weeks, I contacted Samsara to start the onboarding process, only to find out we only had about a week left. We couldn't see live streaming, only still images. I scheduled a 1:1 meeting for a few days later, and it was confirmed through email, but no one called at the appointed time. Apparently, our onboarding ended that same day, so we didn't get any help even though we got an extension. THEN, they charged us almost $6000 for the contract on day 30! It took several emails and several days before they told us that live streaming was an upgrade to our package, even though they knew that's what we wanted from the beginning, and the extension was only for returning the products! Finally, they gave us ONE return label (for 2 boxes of products), and they said they would refund us once they received and scanned them. They got the products yesterday at 10:53am in another country, not the US-based company they claim to be, but we haven't seen the credit yet. We'll be checking every day, and our contract should have been completely canceled through M.

We did the "quick" checkout they use (watch out!) and it showed a shipping charge and looked like our card would be charged. We contacted our sales rep and he said: Hey ***, Shipping is out of my control, but you won't be charged anything (including shipping) for the whole 30 day trial and if you decide to return during the trial, we'll cover the shipping back. Sorry for the miscommunication! *** Our card got charged for shipping and a whole month of service! $362.24. We demanded a refund. Hi *** and ***, I wanted to talk about the charged payment. It's all my fault, there was a change in our system that I missed when I was building your checkout link. Sorry I wasn't responsive yesterday, I was really sick and couldn't get back to you. The good news is, this is an easy fix and we can return the whole amount to your account and provide the full 30 day risk free trial period which we'll restart today. Since you already have the devices, would you be willing to try one of them in your vehicles? Is there anything we can do to make this right and keep working together? -- Best, *** Samsara, Inc. We told him again to refund the money. He offered a cheaper plan. Again, we said no and that we wanted to cancel. (We have all the emails) Because we refused to keep doing business with them, they won't refund the money right away. We sent the items back on 4/22 and we haven't received our money. Our rep said the money they took without permission won't be deposited until they receive the equipment. As per ***, the equipment was delivered today and the salesman isn't answering my email. This money needs to be returned to our card. By the way, the quick checkout is totally misleading! The contract is sent after the checkout and it says the trial starts when they ship, not when you receive. It also says any money you paid won't be returned until the equipment is returned. Shame on us for not asking for a contract upfront and instead believing emails and conversations with a salesman.
