Santander Consumer USA double payments

This is a horrible company. I made a payment online and received a phone call from santander saying they never received a payment online. I gave them my checking acct information and told them to just debit it out 1 payment since I was at work and didnt have access to a computer. 2 days later I looked I noticed in my checking acct there were 2 payments taken out which caused nsf charges for my other withdrawals. I was so upset and when I tried to explain to them of course they said it wasnt their fault. I never received a refund. This is the worse company I have ever dealt with.

Santander Consumer USA refusal to refund monies owed

I paid off a car loan with them on 31 march 2011. I had a military allotment already set to be paid on 1 april and it was too late to stop it. I have been calling for over two weeks to find out where my overpayment was and the csrs and supervisors keep telling me they have sent high importance emails to their accounting department. I have asked three times to have someone call me back and have never received a call. I have requested a number to the accounting department as well as higher level supervisors and they will not provide me a number. I am extremely frustrated and am considering contacting a lawyer.

Santander Consumer USA case id: 501

Constantly calling stating that I owe more money in which I do not. 37 payments of 37 months so how could I owe any more. The contract was bought out by santander from citifinacial without any notification to the customers at all. The contract bought stated payments to start on 3/29/2008, however in several conversations with this company I found out that they had pushed my contract date back to 2/28/2008 which can not be done. I signed a contract stating the date above. I have made my payments however I have been charged late fees before the due date (which was the end of each month) negative credit reports and interest has been added as well. We are now receiving threatening phone calls at work as well as the threat of taking my vechicle. Santander does have a copy of the orginal contract with citifinancial, in which they constantly are asking if I have one. Of course I do in which I have told them and pointed out everything that is wrong with their collections. They are refusing to correct their mistake and reverse all fees, interest and negative credit reporting. I did not sign a contract with santander nor did I agree to any of their practices.

Do not beg a debt collector to follow the Federal laws, if they do not want to- then you can sue them in Federal court and make some money!

Try attacking this in a different way!

Do not speak to them by phone, fax or email!

If they have something to say to you, they can mail it to you! Do not sign for anything though!

You should dispute it once and and ask for validation once! Do not beg them to prove it to you! It is in your favor if they DON"T!

Look at your credit reports, is there anything wierd going on there? Did they violate FCRA laws? How many time and ways?
How may time have they violated the FDCPA?

Santander Consumer USA will not credit payoff

Our original auto loan was through citifinancial auto. Apparently citifinancial was bought out by santander, which took over our loan. We did get a notice in the mail letting us know the loan was now held by santander, and shortly thereafter started having problems. We would make payments and have santander claim they were never recieved, even though they were directly debited from our bank account. Then this month (may 2011) we traded in the vehicle. The dealership sent a check for the payoff amount, the check was cashed, and get this - the title was released! Yet when our payment date passed, we started receiving calls from santander claiming our account was past due! We have repeatedly told them the vehicle has been traded and paid off, yet they refuse to acknowledge this. They have now threatened to repossess the vehicle... My husband said go ahead and try to find it, I don't own it and have no idea where it is! The dealership is now trying to help us out and work with us to deal with santander before this unethical company fraudulently adds interest and late fees and puts negative marks on our credit.

Santander Consumer USA unlimit charges and fees

I purchase my vehicle back on 2005, finance with citifinancial auto. I have nothing but problems since santander consumer usa get involved with the auto loan back on june or july 2010. They are horrible, on customer service (I belive they don't have that), I call harrasing always with very bad actitud, was hard to explain that if payments has been made to my account for five years, is beacause I 'm comited to do so. But now that the last payment is next month, they send a letter offering a payoff balance of $6300.00 when I call to ask if their is a mistake, they said that the late fees, payment charges and other charges are being charge from my monthly payments and after interest charges a minimun has been post to the principal. Is like all or almost all my monthly payments are post against interest and charges. And all kind of charges that none of us has a clue how many they are since could change any time without notice.?!
I ask for a wait to negociate this issue, I also ask for a manager and they told me they have many (but never giveme a name). After 3 days they fax me a modification contract that is an insult to fairness and honesty. If a lawyer is reading please contact me, this is ridiculos they offer 18 months more on a new contact with more interest and fees that ever. After this i'm not sure if I should return my car after 66 payments or if continue paying, because after reading about the way santanders consumer usa conduct their bussiness probably i'll never have my car title.

Santander Consumer USA auto loan

Unfortunately I have an auto loan with santander consumer usa. My original loan was with soverign bank and it was sold to santander or soverign was bought out by santander. Ever since I have had the loan I have been making extra payments on the principal. Every time I write out two checks one for the amount due for the month and one towards the principle. It has been nothing but problems. Every month they credit towards my next months bill and not towards the principal. One employee told me I had to be three months in advance on payments in order to credit the principal on the account. I have never once heard this before but kept paying extra every month. I had to call them every month in order to tell them that the extra check I wanted to be towards the principal and not towards the following months payment and they still continued to do this month in and month out. I got so frustrated with the company I decided to pay off the loan in full. I requested a payoff amount and mailed it in. Today I recieved an email stating I still owe $24.16. It has been nothing but a headache with this company. I will be sure to never deal with santander or any of their affiliates ever again. Hopefully no one else will ever have to go through what I have had to go through over the past 30 months or so.

My car loan was sold from Citi Financial Auto to SanTander in September of 2010. My last payment was suppose to be December 24th of 2010 and now they are saying that I owe over $9, 000 in fees. What am I suppose to do? This vehicle has over 185, 000 miles on it. What the heck are they charging me for, I only paid 18, 000 for the car?

I had a similar situation. Was supposed to pay off my car in August. I had some late fees also tagged to the last payment so in total I needed to pay them $1, 100. In September I received a collection letter stating that I owed $2, 500 in order to pay off the car. When I logged in to their website (the same day I received the letter) the pay off amount had gone up to $3, 000. When I contacted their customer service department, they could not tell me why the amount had gone up. I DEMANDED a breakdown before I made any further payments. I also demanded to speak to a Manager and was told that the Manager would tell me the same thing as the rep. The customer service rep also told me that they needed "approval" from their "accounting dept" in order to mail me a breakdown. The breakdown never came, I was never able to get a straight answer from them after calling almost on a daily basis for 2 weeks. My car was repoed in November, while I was in the hospital having my baby girl. They told me it would take an additional $400 repo fee to get my car back. I paid that car for 7 years...and it went from Drive Financial to CitiFinancial to Santander Consumer. I'm sure somewhere in there they tagged additional fees and I have no paperwork from them showing any breakdowns or any proof of anything. I'm glad I found this website as I've gotten very helpful information and I plan to file complaints with the FTC, BBB and my States Attorney General. If I don't get any compensation back at least I know this won't happent to someone else.

Do not just start sending them money, and don't do anything based on what you're told on the phone. You need to demand, in writing, that they provide you with a statement of account that documents the basis for the amount currently owed. Send a certified letter with proof of delivery, asking for documentation that substantiates the current balance, if it does not match with your records. When your loan is sold, they can't change the terms outlined in your original loan. They have some BAD record keeping, as I've found recently, and they will only give attention to your errors when you demand that they do so.

I had the same issue, my loan sold from Citi Financial. When it was sole i owed about $6, 000 left on the car, my most recent statement says i now owe $11, 000. I only paid $16, 500 for the car when i originally bought it. I have had nothing but problems contacting anyone who can give me a real answer. let me know if you happen to find an avenue where you actually get some results.

Santander Consumer USA refund on auto loan account

My husband and I had a loan with santander for 2 years regarding a car loan, and never missed a payment or submitted a payment late. We recently refinanced, in which the new financier paid off the account, but we inadvertently submitted another payment not knowing the account was closed. This created a credit to the account which has been acknowledged by santander. However, here we are 15 days later, and after 3 phone calls with representatives tracia, rachel and supervisor danny with no satisfactory results. Both ladies claimed that their accounts payable department would start the refund process back to our amex in 10 days. I specifically asked rachel if there was anything I needed to do, and she said that she had initiated the process. Now speaking to danny today, all he can offer is a sorry and now states that it takes 30 to 45 days. This level of service is unacceptable. We will simply contest the charges on our amex, but I want every consumer to know that I advice them not to do business with santander unless they wish to have any financial connection with a "dysfunctional" business that can't seem to get their act together. We refinanced to just get a better rate. I didn't know the consolation prize was get our money away from such a poorly managed business.

Santander Consumer USA applying late charges to my account

I had my loan through citifinancial auto and they bought them out in october 2010. I was assessed late fee for that month and I didnt even that they were bought out and mind you that I my payment was being drafted out of my account. They cancelled everything without my knowledge. Now that santander has my account they have charged my late charges even though they are not to and I was within my limit. I got ahold of attorney and now we are going to do class action against them so if anyone wants to be onboard please let me know. They are not going to get away with this. This is not a scam promise. I got attorney in houston, tx. Please help get this company.

Jessica, I just came about this site due to the fact that we were not notified in timely manner that our loan was sold by GEMB lending. I have two letters stating our loan was sold which I know is typical in this industry. However, they attached an 87.00 late fee to our first payment which we immediately called to ask about. The rep said it was because GEMB doesn't send out letters telling you that you are late, they just apply the balance to the end and the new company collects for it. This is false because we have gotten a late notice before IN WRITING and I have it in hand! Yes, we've had a few difficulties but nothing over 30 days and it's never been reported on our credit reports either. GEMB was also nasty and would ask us where our RV was parked if we were passed the 1st of the month...even when they state in their payment book we had until the 15th to pay with the late fee... we promptly replied right where the address is that we applied for our loan. WE LIVE IN IT FULL TIME! Yes, might be late but wouldn't default unless it were absolutely necessary since the RV is our primary residence! GEMB are horrible and it's proving that we aren't in a much better boat with Santander! What to do?

Santander Consumer USA release of lien

Santander usa bought out ge inc. We paid our loan off with ge. According to ge, all records, titles, etc. Transferred to santander usa. It has now been over 60 days and we can not get our title or a release of lien from santander. They say they have over 20, 000 titles a day to enter in their system from ge. Because our title has not been entered yet, we can't get a release. They have all the info. And their system shows the loan has been paid off. My last phone call to santander, I was hung up on. I don't know what to do. We have sold the travel trailer that the loan was for and I can't give the new owners a title. Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel they have me backed against a wall. They are the giant and I am the little person. The new owners can't tow the trailer because they can't get it registered in their name. Because it is still registered in our name, I have to continue to carry insurance on it. The new owners are threating to return the trailer to me and give them their money back... Which I don't have because we used it to pay the trailer off. Isn't this fraud, theft? Any help?

They are doing this to me now! I paid off my mortgage 5 yrs ago, no satisfaction letter ( I didn't know I had to get one at the time ) now that I am selling my house, this loan is showing up as unpaid. I am getting the "run around" I settle on my house the end of July.
I don't know what the problem is, why it takes so long. This is criminal. This has to be looked into.

Santander Consumer USA stole my money

The issue I have is I mailed a check for my car payment two weeks before the due date. It came out of my account and it cleared through the bank. But for some odd reason santander never received it. They claim they never got it. And they refuse to give me credit for it. And they insist I send them proof, which I did. And they still refuse to give me credit for the payment. They still call me 10 times a day at 10 different numbers and on occasion from a private number. And they have called after 10 pm and before 8 am. I also receive rude customer service all they care about is me making another payment. When I already paid them! Explain to me how they can get away with stealing my money. I have reported them to federal trade commission and still no response. And I do love the fact on my account online they show as having to contact with me when i've talked to them, online chatted with them, emailed them, and faxed them on several occasions. And I love the fact that i'm past due 29 days but they say i'm due for two payments. When they have received my payment already. Anyone know of any class action suits against these jokers. I want apart of it. I can't stand someone stealing my money.

Update...
Well my last resort was contacting Santander Consumer USA Inc.
Office of the President
P.O. Box 961245
Fort Worth, TX [protected], OOPOFFICE@santanderconsumerusa.com
I emailed my concerns about my account. Then the next day followed up with a phone call and now my account has been taken care of. They took care of the lost payment and applied it to my account. And I have to say the customer service has improved a lot since then. When I called today, there was no attitude and the lady was pleasant to talk to. And actually helpful, that's all that is needed for great customer service. Maybe there is hope yet for santander.

Santander Consumer USA payment processing fees

Santander has been charging me what I consider to be "unreasonable" late fees. I have been behind on my last two payments so I am probably not there favorite customer. The only form of payment they accept is through their website and they charge $11.00 to process that payment. If I pay by phone they charge $11.00 for me to process that transaction. I know for a fact that they are using this to make lots of money unfairly. My car payment is around $330.00 per month. I own my own business and I can process that same transaction for less then $1.50 from any bank. Why would they try to rip me off like this? So the only way I can pay them is by direct us mail to avoid any additional fees. Direct mail is slow and I cannot send a check ahead of time to post date it. They do not accept post dated checks. So the checks would would have to arrive exactly on time. I do not control the us mail system. The likelyhood of me being able to coordinate that payment through the mail every month is possible but not plausable. The late fees that they charge on my account are around $5.00 per day. I was just recently contacted by them to make my payment. That is not a problem. The only arrangement that they would accept from me was to make that payment by phone and pay their $11.00 processing fee for that transaction or I would be penalized over $130.00 in late fees. What kind of option is that? I asked if I could send them a post dated check tomorrow (fri) that they would most likely receive by monday. I live in austin and they live in dallas. He said that I cannot send a post dated check and I would be charged my late fees. But he was happy to to not charge me any of my late fees if I paid the $11.00 transaction processing fee to them and make a one time transaction arrangement post dated for the following week. I am curious how many clients they have. Take that and multiple it by $11.00 and you will find out very quickly this must add up to an incredible amount of money. Then mulitple that each month. It is unlawful to charge clients processing fees in texas to pay a transaction by credit card. They are also breaking their agreements with their own merchant processor by doing this. I use to work in merchant processing a few years go and I am also a business owner myself that accepts payments by credit card. I know they are breaking the law by charging me a fee to use my debit card period. The money they must be making by doing this has to be an incredible amount. They coerce their clients into paying this by threating crazy late fees like $5.00 per day. Please help do something about this. This is wrong and they are taking advantage of a lot of people. They should not be allowed to get away with this. I am happy to speak with you further and provide more info. Thanks for your time and consideration in the matter. They are breaking the law in texas by charging their clients processing fees.

I AGREE WITH ALL PEOPLE WHO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH SANTANDER. THEY ARE A RIP-OFF AND SHOULDN'T BE IN BUSINESS. THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU ON YOUR PAYMENTS, I TRY GOING TO A AUTO HELP COMPANY TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP ME WITH THIS HIGH LOAN WITH SANTANDER AND THE ANSWER THAT QUESTION WAS THAT THEY WILL NOT. SO NOW I'M GOING TO A BANKRUPTCY LAWYER TO STOP THEM AND LOWING MY PAYMENT.

Santander Consumer USA harassment

I was recently harassed by the man calling me to collect my past due balance on my car loan. I explained to him that I have had some family issues and that I was unable to pay until the 1st of may. He basically harassed me to the point that I had to hang up. He kept telling me he demanded the payment on the 30th not the 1st and that would not work. I told him my mother was out of town having a surgery and that my husband is in afghanistan protecting his freedom and why couldn't he give me a break if it was only one day. I am so fuming mad at this point, he didn't ask me to hold he actually told I better hold and he would be back. I couldn't take it any more this man was so rude. I have had understanding representative never treat me like this from this country I was appalled. I need to find an email, phone or some kind of contact as to who I can get a hold of in response to the sever rude and harassing behavior I had encountered tonight. If anyone could get me any other the contact information for the people who can help me and who will listen to how disgusted I am that someone would not listen to me and treat me less than a human being.

Santander Consumer USA payment processing

I purchased a vehicle back in july 2007 from a dealership and financed it through cit auto financial. With citi, I had no issues, the customer service was great and I had absolutely nothing to complain about. Well this past year, citi sold my loan to santander consumer usa. From there on, things just turned from great to terrible. I can't log onto their website, their website doesn't recognize my email address to reset a password, when I try to resign up, it says my account is already set up but I can't log on. Upon calling customer service, I get hung up on by their automated system 4-5 times and then when I finally reach someone, they are incompetent.
All over payments are suppose to go towards interest (like in all other loans I take out), well not with santander. They apply it towards your next payment and still charge you interest on the full amount of your loan until you get 3 payments ahead. I don't ever recall agreeing to this and their agents don't see to be able to answer the question on where that was agreed upon. So for the past year I have paid interest on funds they have already collected and applied towards my next payments.
When I purchase my next vehicle, I will go through my own personal bank for now on. If there is a chance that santander could service my loan, I will refinance it so I don't have to deal with these people ever again.

I have had my account with CitiAuto since 2005 for my 2003 Toyota Camry for 2 years I had no problems with anything but then Citi Auto changed their payment processing and there system which in turn caused them not to draft from my checking account for 3 months. Citi Auto and I caught the problem and Citi waived 2 payments and I paid the 3rd and switched to another bank for my auto payment all went well for another 2 yrs until just today 12/15/2010. Today my wife calls me at work and ask who Santander is and why would they send a questionaire about there service and she called them and they told her they bought our Citi account in September and we had not made our payment since 9/26/10 and I called and check our account and it they were right that it had not come out. Well my problem with this is I was never notified of my account being sold, never being notified that my payments would stop, and its a week before Christmas and the money I thought was being AUTOMATICALLY taken out was in fact not being taken out. To make matter worse I called Customer Service to see what could be done and was told "To be an Adult and Pay My Bills" and I asked where is the courtesy call or courtesy Certified Mail that my AUTOMATIC Payments would stop and was told "There Not In The Business of Courtesy they are here to Make People Like Me Pay Their Bills". I work in Banking and this was quite frankly the absolute WORST Experience with A Company a so-called Customer Service and just overall lack of respect for people when the company themselves are the ones who did not notified in any way of what was happening. The customer service that was telling me I have a responsibility to contact and update information asked me my address and had my address from a year ago on file I gave her tonight 8:36pm EST on 12/15/10 my address for where I have lived since February of 2010 and told her Citi Auto sent me receipt each month and then went on to tell me I was lying since I used to get receipts from Citi I should have noticed something and contacted them but would not let me finish to tell her I just assumed it was either PAID OFF or simply another change in processing. I thought the money was in the account but my assumed that it was already taken out and has used most of the money for either Christmas or other bills. I told Customer Service that I would let them put in on the back of the loan but I do not have the money to pay for Their Mistake, I do NOW however realize never to ASSUME that Automatic Payment arent automatic and Banks Errors cost me and the worst time...

I had first bought a car thru RoadLoans who sold the contract to Triad and then to Santander. Triad rountinely would post payments anywhere from 10 to 17 days late assuring a late fee. I finally started getting proof of mailing from the post office and sent that along with my copies of cancelled checks. The late fees stopped, for a time, however, when I made my final payment in June of this year, all 72 payments made, not a single month missed, I get this $558 left on my account for assorted fees, etc.. They told me if I mailed them $458 by September I will get my title to my truck I have already paid for. This is by far the most awful, ignorant group of individuals I have ever dealth with. They should be out of business tomorrow. I have made complaints against them to the FTC and the Attorney General so I hope they get some kind of fines or something. No one should ever get financing with this company, they are crooks.

My complaint with this company is same like others, i see so many of us are posting complaints over here, does this really help or we are just posting our complaints here with no actions being taken against this company. There is no point if we are just posting the complaints here. for sure this company is a fraud and rip off company with bad customer service and mannerless people who don't even care what you are going through...

Santander Consumer USA phising scam?

I had received notice that I will now start making payments to them on a truck of mine, I tried to call and in order to talk to a human, I needed to put in my account number. Well the account number didn't work, they could not find my account (the auto voice) I e-mailed, got an auto reply that they received my e-mail. After a week I just started pushing buttons, and got ahold of some clown from jamacia. He wanted all sorts of info. To include my social security number. If they are on the up, and up, this is by far the worst company i've had the displeasure of having to deal with. I've never been notified by the original loan holder that they sold the contract. And I don't think they went out of business. Odd just odd. Oh and john santander, i'm not a loser, but you're an #.

Santander Consumer USA purchased our loan from GEMB Lending Inc. We paid in full the final balance due on our 2006 Coachman travel trailer. We received the overpayment but never the Title Deed. Several calls to Santander resulted in different stories from yes it was sent and lost in the mail to California deals only in electronic title deeds, which is not true. Asked to talk to the manager, I was hung up on four separate occasions. I finally filed a complaint with the BBB which gives Santander an "F" rating. Go figure. Don't do business with Santander.

Look loosers, all of you who are complaining about santander are horrible customers anyway. I mean all of you are complaining about interest than its your own fault due to the fact of your credit being bad!!! Thats how most of yall became santander customers in the first place. Santander only finances sub-prime customers (last chance financing) and yes they...

Santander Consumer USA sovereign bank signed my up for overdraft protection without my consent

Sovereign bank signed me up for overdraft protection without my consent. I realized this when I checked my account and noticed I had overdrafted. I contacted them and told them my issue. They informed me that if I paid for what I purchased they would remove the overdrafts from my account. I paid everything that I owed and when I contacted them to see why the overdrafts hadn't been removed I was informed I still owed $30. However, my initial overdraft was for 15 cents and the $30 they were claiming I owed had been in my account when I first overdrafted. I tried to explain this to them however, they told me that they were closing my account that day and their was nothing they could do. My account has now gone into collections for the overdraft money that I shouldn't owe. Don't do business with sovereign.

Santander Consumer USA terrible customer service

My car loan account was sold from citifinancial auto to santander over a year ago. I've been paying $256.72 on my 2001 hyundai tiburon for over 5 years now. Two years ago I lost my job of 14 years, so it's been tough but i've continued to make payments on time. I called santander to request a loan modification. After entering all the normal criteria over the teleprompt, I finally got thru to a "peggy" :p who asked atleast 30 questions to identify me, then I was told I have to be late on my payment for atleast 6 mos & then she just hung up on me! You'd think the response would be: I see you have been a good customer for over 5 yrs, let's see what we can do for you, ms. Customer" well thru research I found that here in oregon, if you are even 1 day late, your car may be repoed. I don't trust this company as far as I can throw peggy!

I agree totally. Santander Consumer are the most annoying harassing company I have ever been associated with. My payment has never been anywhere near 30 days late in the 3 years we have had the loan. I admit sometimes it will be up to 10 days late due to how we get paid. The will start calling 2-4 times a day on about the 4th day, call my employer (which a supervisor at Santander said they ARE NOT suppose to do. You would think I was three months behind the way they harass you. Then imagine my horror when they bought my Citi Bank loan out for a second vehicle I have. Will NEVER do business with them again. I will pay a higher interest rate than go through them again.
