I went to Sasol Honeydew Ridge in Johannesburg this morning. I asked for R200.00 petrol, just to top up what I had (my car was on 80 km range). I checked the petrol pump as usual and paid my bill with the card. As I leave the filling station, I noticed that my petrol gauge did not move at all, I drove off thinking it will go up after few kilometres and that did not happen, instead, it was going down. I immediately drove back to the filling station and laid my complaint and the manager/supervisor told me that on his system it shows that the petrol went off, it should be my gauge. I told him I am going to monitor my gauge as I am going to Cosmo City which is few kilometres away from the filling station and I will be back with the report. I came back and told him my gauge and petrol from the 80 km range is going down. It is was on 54 km range, no increase at all. He stood by his statement that there is nothing wrong with their system, there must be something wrong with my gauge, maybe the petrol is there in my gauge is it just not showing it on my gauge. I left the garage very annoyed and within 2 kms away the petrol light came on for refuel. Please tell me that I am crazy to lay a complaint.
I feel cheated by Sasol Honeydew Ridge, R200 might not sound much to someone but how many people has it happened to? It is also the way the issue was handled, about trustworthy of the filling station and taking ownership as the supervisor, do thorough investigation into what your customer is complaining about. There could be some technical explanations or faults on that particular pump or some behavioural issues.
