Terrible Experience at Smartstyle: Rude Stylist Named Katie at E Sam Houston Pkwy N Location
I went to Smartstyle today to get my hair cut and it was a terrible experience. The girl who cut my hair was named Katie and she worked at the E Sam Houston parkway N location. She was so rude to me from the moment I sat down. I could tell she had no respect for me because she kept rolling her eyes at me. It was really frustrating and made me feel uncomfortable.
When I asked if I could get someone else to cut my hair, she threw my hair in my face and got even more angry. She didn't seem to care about my feelings at all. I tried to move my head a little bit and she got really mad at me. It was like she didn't want to do her job at all.
Eventually, another girl had to finish cutting my hair because Katie was being so difficult. It was a horrible experience and I've never felt so disrespected in my life. I hope that Smartstyle can do something about employees like Katie because it's not fair to customers who just want a simple haircut.
Terrible Perm Experience at Smartstyle: Waste of Time and Money
My experience with Smartstyle was terrible. I've been getting perms for over 50 years, but the one I got from them in December of 2022 was a complete disaster. The curls had fallen out before I even got home, leaving my hair pin straight. I thought maybe it was just a bad perm, but when I checked in with the salon and called them, they said they didn't have any perms available. I finally got one from another store, but it was still 90% straight and wouldn't hold a curl. I paid $77 for a perm that didn't even work, and now I don't know where to go or what to do. Can I even get another perm? I'm very disappointed with my experience at Smartstyle.
Smartstyle Salon's Phone System Frustrates Customers: My Experience at Listowel Location
I had to find a new salon because Smartstyle was just not cutting it for me. I tried calling to make an appointment, but the phone would only ring once and then hang up on me. It was so frustrating! So, I decided to drive to the Walmart where the salon is located to try and sort out the problem. I explained my situation to the staff there and they reassured me that they would fix the issue. I was able to reschedule my appointment for two days later.
But, when the day of my appointment arrived, the same thing happened again! I couldn't believe it. I drove back to the Walmart and explained my situation once more. The staff were understanding and tried to help me out, but unfortunately, the problem persisted. This went on for 14 months! It was absolutely insane. I couldn't believe that a business could operate like this.
Even now, the problem still exists. I have no idea how to fix it. It's really disappointing because I used to enjoy going to Smartstyle for haircuts. But, with this kind of service, I just can't justify going back. I hope they can figure out a solution soon because I know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. This all happened at the Listowel location.
Amazing Results at Smartstyle: A Review of Their Expert Styling and Service
So, I decided to give Smartstyle a try. I was a bit hesitant at first, but I had heard some good things about them. I went in and was greeted by a friendly stylist who listened to what I wanted. I told her about my previous experience and she assured me that she knew exactly what to do.
She recommended a different type of color and explained that the previous stylist had used the wrong developer. She also suggested that I get a deep conditioning treatment to help repair my damaged hair. I agreed and she got to work.
The whole process took a bit longer than I expected, but I could tell that she was taking her time and making sure everything was perfect. When she was finished, I was amazed at the results. My hair was a beautiful mocha brown color and it was so soft and shiny.
I couldn't believe the difference between my previous experience and this one. The Smartstyle stylist knew exactly what she was doing and took the time to make sure everything was done right. I will definitely be going back to Smartstyle for all of my hair needs from now on.
Disastrous Haircut Experience at Smartstyle in Ammon, Idaho - Stay Away!
I recently visited Smartstyle in Ammon, Idaho for the third time. My previous experiences were just okay, but this time was a complete disaster. I clearly told the stylist that I wanted my hair to be shoulder length, but she turned me around so I couldn't see what she was doing. To my surprise, she gave me a dry cut that was way too short. When I complained that it was too short, she told me that it would grow back. I also asked for gray coverage, but ended up with more gray at my temples. I was so frustrated that I complained to the supervisor, who gave me a refund. However, the refund didn't help because my hair was already too short and I couldn't do anything with it.
I decided to take my complaint to corporate, but they didn't even bother to contact me back. This tells me that they have major issues and don't care about their customers. I would advise anyone who cares about their hair to stay away from Smartstyle. They clearly don't know what they're doing and can't be trusted with something as important as your hair.
Terrible Experience at Smartstyle: Stylist Ignored My Requests and Damaged My Hair
I recently visited Smartstyle for a haircut and it was a terrible experience. I was in desperate need of a trim as my hair had some heat damage from using a straightener. I asked the stylist to cut off the dead ends and make it look neat and easy to manage. I specifically told her not to use a razor on my hair as I didn't want it to look any worse than it already did.
However, the stylist went against my wishes and reassured me that she had been cutting hair for 22+ years. I trusted her and let her do her job. But when she was done, my hair looked like it had been through a paper shredder. She had taken off over 3 inches of hair, leaving it mid-neck length when it was previously below shoulder length.
I was devastated and regretted going to Smartstyle. My hair was damaged beyond repair and I had to spend a lot of money to fix it. I would not recommend this salon to anyone, even if you are desperate for a haircut. It's better to go to a different salon and avoid the mistake I made.
Overall, my experience at Smartstyle was terrible and I would not recommend it to anyone. The stylist did not listen to my requests and ended up damaging my hair. It was a waste of time and money, and I had to spend even more money to fix the damage. If you want a good haircut, go to a different salon where the stylists listen to your requests and do a good job.
Mixed Results: Great Trims, Disappointing Hair Color Experience at Smartstyle
I recently visited Smartstyle on September 3rd to get my hair colored and my kids' hair trimmed. I must say, they did a great job with the trims and cuts for my little ones. However, I was a bit disappointed with my hair color experience. I showed them a picture of what I wanted, hoping to get a bright and popping color, but was told that using blonde would turn my hair pink. They showed me a few colors that could match what I wanted, and I ended up paying $183.00 for the service.
Unfortunately, the end result was not what I expected. The dark color was added to my hair, but the blonde and red did not show up as I hoped, unless I was in direct sunlight. I was a bit disappointed, especially after sitting there for two hours. I expected to get what I wanted for the amount of money I spent, but instead, I got a dark-colored hair job.
Overall, I would say that Smartstyle is great for trims and cuts, but when it comes to hair coloring, they may not be the best option. I would recommend being very clear about what you want and making sure they understand your expectations before proceeding with the service.
Poor Customer Service and Attitude at Smartstyle in Cartersville Walmart
I recently gave Smartstyle a call to see if they could help me out with a retwist. I called the location inside the Walmart in Cartersville and was greeted by Kate. From the moment she answered the phone, I could tell she wasn't in the best mood. I asked her if they had anyone available to do a retwist and before I could even finish my sentence, she cut me off and said, "Not today, I don't." Her tone was very rude and it immediately put me off.
I tried to explain that I wasn't looking for an appointment that day, but rather for next week. However, Kate didn't seem interested in listening to me and continued to have an attitude. I've had bad experiences with her in the past and this just confirmed my feelings about her. She's always been nasty and I don't think she's very good at doing hair either.
I stopped going to Smartstyle because of Kate, but I was recently pulled back in by a stylist named Tanisha. However, after this experience, I don't think I'll be spending any more money at this location. As long as Kate works there with her nasty attitude and the fact that she smells like smoke most of the time, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
Disappointing Experience at Smartstyle: Worst Haircut Ever!
I recently took my little girl to Smartstyle for a back-to-school haircut. I was disappointed to find that the supposed "stylists" were not very friendly or patient with children. In fact, the hair cutter who worked on my daughter's hair was the worst I have ever seen. I hesitate to even call her a stylist, as she did not deserve that title.
The haircut itself was a simple bang trim, but it took the hair cutter over 45 minutes to complete. When she finally asked me if I liked it, I was shocked to find that my daughter's hair was uneven and choppy. It was hands down the worst haircut I have ever seen. Even my daughter, who usually loves everything, did not enjoy her haircut or the experience she had gone through.
I tried to discreetly find the hair cutter's name or license, but I noticed that there was not one posted. I just wanted the experience to be over, so I told myself that I would go to a real stylist next time. This is the first review I have ever written, but I wish there was something else that could be done about this.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Smartstyle, at least not at the Spanaway Walmart location. The hair cutter was rude, poor with kids, and did a terrible job on my daughter's hair. Save yourself the trouble and go to a real stylist instead.
Inconsistent Staffing at SmartStyle: My Frustrating Experience
I've been going to SmartStyle for years now and I gotta say, I've had some pretty frustrating experiences. You see, I have this one stylist who I absolutely adore. She's been cutting my hair for years and I always leave the salon feeling like a million bucks. But on more than one occasion, I've been told by another stylist that my girl is no longer working there. And get this - one of these times, the person who told me this was actually the regional boss! Can you believe it?
So, of course, I would either stop into the salon when I was shopping at Walmart or call to make an appointment. But every time I did this, I would find out that my stylist was still there! And what's worse, I later found out that she had been telling other customers the same thing. It's just not right, you know? It's like some people are trying to sabotage the hardworking employees at SmartStyle. And it makes it really hard for us customers to trust the service we're getting.
So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and post my concerns on SmartStyle's website. And guess who contacted me? Not the district manager, that's for sure. Nope, it was the very person I had made the complaint about. She called me on my phone that very afternoon! And you know what happened next? My stylist got fired!
Now, I don't know about you, but that just doesn't sit right with me. SmartStyle needs to get their act together. My stylist is the ONLY one who will ever cut my hair. Wherever she goes, I will follow. And I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. So, if you're thinking about going to SmartStyle, just be aware that there might be some drama going on behind the scenes. But if you can find a stylist you trust, like I did, then it's totally worth it.
Incorrect hair highlights color
May 13, 2023 went into a smart style salon in Walmart at the Bryan Ohio location. I went in to get highlights and added color. It was done so poorly I even had hair dye running down my face. The toner she put i. It was way too strong. I was so very unhappy. I still left the stylist a tip. So I called the store manager to get a fix, she wasn't very pleased in fixing she embarrassed me upfront in front of other costumers. All she did for NY hair was put a toner in it, which removed an all my highlights and brought me back to my normal hair color. I was sooo upset, I paid over $100 for nothing. I will never ever return to this hair salon again. Not friendly at all, they were rude and welcoming at all. My hair is totally fried, I was left under the dryer for more than 25 mins
Desired outcome: I would please like a full refund. Or get my hair fixed and corrected by other salon who branches with smart style
Customer service
Every time I call there there's somebody that is picking up the phone that is always rude they act unprofessional on the phone does act like they don't want to help and this is not okay. I also went there in person to buy some products and the lady Yes was not very polite either and didn't really want to help also. I do know one girl that is working there...

I had an appointment at SmartStyle in Shelton Wa. The appointment was made for a cut, color, w/highlights. I was told that the appointment was down as a cut and one color that was all we had time for. I got my hair trimmed and I asked Jennifer if she would put the one color at the ends of my hair to darken it. She used about 6 foil wraps and darkened the ends of my hair. I had gone with a friend who was paying for the appointment as my husband had recently passed. After she paid she showed me the receipt and she was charged for a balayage.
A balayage is what I had originally wanted because it is a hand painted custom coloring that uses different shades. However I would never ask my friend to spend $225 on my hair which is what she ended up paying for. When I called and asked to have my hair color fixed to fit a balayage I was told I got what I asked for. I asked for one color because that's what we were told they only had time for. Since we paid for a balayage and it was what I wanted I think they should finish the job or refund over half of the money.
Desired outcome: I want my hair finished with a balayage
Employment
My name is JoReba Shannon, I put in a job application at the Harrison location online it physically says it has two job openings one for management one for stylist. The girls that are working the Harrison location are from Mountain home which is an hour away from here after two days of wondering what’s going on I was finally contacted today by messages that clearly says there is no openings for the Harrison location which there is no one to work this location, but the opening that they have would be for mounting home location why would they want to send me an hour and a half away to work because I live 30 minutes from the Harrison location when there had to drive an hour and a half to come here to go to work it don’t make sense I’m confused but I would really like to work the Harrison location if possible please get back with me as soon as possible and let me know what I need to be doing thank you for your time. My phone number is [protected].
Desired outcome: A job
No one at the salon
A week ago I called to make an appointment for 4-27-23- at the SmartStyle Salon at the Walmart 1434- the lady I spoke to did say she was short staffed, but still took my appointment for 27th and asked if 1:30 pm would work for me, and I accepted the time slot. I arrived for my appointment and the salon had the lights off and was completely closed. I spoke...

I went to Warrensville in Ohio just wanted a root touchup. I tipped her $40 on a $40 service thinking that she did a good job I left with my hair wet because I was going to go get my kids. I didn’t even realize until I was in my car that she left tons of soap in my hair, and it blead all over my blonde. It took her 24 minutes to do my hair. My hair is to...

My daughter went in to get the latest style. What she ended up with was not even close. She cut it too short, gave her lots of irregular layers, and didn’t even give her the curtain bangs she wanted! My daughter said, I don’t think she knew how to do the cut. And then ended paying almost $40, for a terrible hack job. And she’s the manager! How hard is it to make sure you study up on the newest cuts so you know what the hell your doing? I used to cut hair, but can't anymore because of health issues, so I have an idea of what I'm talking about. My daughter had to go somewhere else to get her hair corrected. How can she be a manager and doesn't know how to get a specific style requested? I will never take her there again!
Desired outcome: Re-training of the stylist's, making sure they have knowledge of the latest styles. A refund would be nice, but I'm not holding out for that. And no, I don't a discount offered either. [protected]@gmail.com
I forgot to mention she yanked and pulled at her hair at the wash bowl, causing pain and giving her a headache.
The whole experience today
The lady that cut my hair was rude to me the minute I got there, when she was cut my hair she was very aggressive. Pulling and digging into my scalp with the comb. My hair looks awful. I've been going to this shop for 13years every three months without fail. I also bring my three kids. This by far is the worst experience I've ever had.. went today 4-1-2023 at 10:30am
Desired outcome: I WANT MY MONEY BACK AND AN APOLOGY!!
Hair color
I visited Sandy for my hair color in MARYSVILLE ohio. I asked her by text if she could put deep neon on my roots and not darken my blonde at all she told me yes absolutely! She put the color n my hair and accidentally splashed a dab on her own hair and at that point that was her main concern. After she finished applying my color she left me in the chair so she could go to mirror behind me and apply color to her own hair to fix the color spot. I was never Checked on once. I had to ask for a towel to wipe the dark color off my face ear and neck. I asked her twice to apply a sealant or conditioner to my blonde so the dark color would not rinse onto my blonde which I have many many time had professionally done n past and she agreed it works but she did not do it. It wasn’t until I was at the shampoo bowel she said “ I applied ash color incase it rinses to your blonde it will
Look ok” well safe to say after over 100$ later I left almost a brunette ! Very very very disappointed! I will never go back and will post on social media my experience. A refund would be much appreciated!
Desired outcome: Refund.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I see why they work in Walmart salon .. says a lot ! 100 %
Salon service
3/4/2023 at 6:20 pm
I was charged excessively high for my hair $175.00. I was not informed that I would be charged separately for each service. In all my life I never paid no more than $120 for a relaxer, color and trim. However, at Walmart I was charged $65 for relaxer, $35 for trim, $45 for roller set, and $15 for length. And, the stylist Maureen burned my neck with the relaxer. I had to tell her when she put the relaxer and left to go in back, that my neck had relaxer and was burning. I ended up wiping it off myself. I almost screamed when she put water during shampoo. She never apologized. Afterwards, it felt a little better but my neck is bruised and stinging feeling. This may be a legal matter once I discuss with counsel. She works fast but is a little sloppy. She squeezed an oily base used prior to relaxer in my left ear. Towels and capes had other people's hair on it; she changed the towel after I informed her. I just picked the long strands of hair off the cape. I had to get paper towel and soak it up, still a lot in my ear. This was a big mistake patronizing Smart Style. Maureen called her manager Shana and she rid mot apologize for my burn or offer any type of solution. I filed an online complaint 3/4/2023 on Smartstyle website and no one responded. If I get no resolved then I’ll have to get an attorney.
I will just stick with Ulta. They are first professional , shares the costs and shares what products they are using as they service you, and maintain neat working situation.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement of $175 due to burn below neck and not displaying or sharing cost of service
