hepatitis a lansing michigan location
We visited the the south Lansing store on September 14th I found out today via the news that there is a Hepatitis A outbreak at that store and anyone who visited the store in the last 30 days needs to get vaccinated immediately. My wife and I went to the local Rite Aid had the vaccinations only to find out that Medicare does not cover this shot...Therefore it cost me $ 187.26 I can provide receipts as well as my visa statement to confirm the date that we were there. How are you going to proceed to reimburse me?

I visited the Steak n Shake at 5828 S. Lindbergh in St. Louis, Missouri at a
1:15 p.m. on 09/29/18. I was really shocked at how filthy this restaurant was. My table had not been cleaned before I sat down. The dishes had been removed but it wasn't wiped down.I never told my waitress to clean it and she didnt even notice. I looked around and noticed a lot of uncleaniness in this restaurant. The black walls next to the booths were horrible. The counter when I went to pay was so dirty and the floor was so sticky and dirty. I love Steak n Shake and usually frequent the one in Arnold, which is always neat and clean. Just thought you might want to know.
ordering of food products and service
Date ;09-28-2018 approximately time of service 0415 pm, location ; New Castle, Indiana 47362...We arrived to place our order through drive thru, we ordered a $ $4.00 values meals two of them, we ordered a DBL with cheese & fries and everything on it same goes for the Triple order with the exception of no cheese, we pulled off to the side and found the order was incorrect there was nothing but meat patties and buns on both the fries were old and stale and darken brown and hard they would crumble between your fingers, So i went back in and asked for the Mrg in charge and asked her would you be acceptable of eating this yourself i explained to her i used to be a dresser @ the new castle location and this was unacceptable even i wouldn't feed this to my dogs ...The line wasn't busy other then drive thru there was approximately 10-15 ppl inside dining, she said she would personally make the sandwiches her self, approximately 15 mins later the sandwiches came out but no fries, once again i had to re explain to the atm the grill cook their was to be large fries to this order two of em he brought only one and left me standing there and wouldn't make eye contact with me or acknowledge to me that maybe the other fries were coming and wait period for a order of fries to complete the order, the Mrg said she would remake the order for free and not charge me again for it, why should i be charged again for their mistake, she advise me that a prep person put the order together and i advised her it was the dressers job to dress the sandwiches correctly to the order and not a prep person job and i advised her once again i was a dresser at the location for two yrs so i know steak and shakes policy, after all said and done the fries were unsalted overcooked and 35 mins later, the sandwiches were dry with little or no condiments on them, this meal should have been free because thats your policy, i will not return to the new castle location
milkshake
I order a oreo cookies and cream milk shake and as i get to the bottom of my milk shake i sucked up a hard piece of something not sure if it from a spoon and blender... Im so glad i had to chew up the oreo or i would of swolled it and if it went down the wrong way it could of cut my throat... This could of been a child and really did some damaged.. I still have the receipt and the cup with the thing inside it... Please contact me i work night so this was my lunch...
gift cards ripoff
I used to take my young grandchildren to steak 'n shake quite often. The liked the food and the paper cars with stickers. Because we went there so often, about two years ago I bought ten $25 gift cards at steak 'n shake because they gave a $5 gift card for each one I bought. A few visits after I bought the gift cards, I got miserably sick on the chili, so we didn't go back for quite a while. When we finally decided to go back to the steak 'n shake in lee's summit, mo., the store had closed down. I recently took them to the steak 'n shake in independence, mo., which I don't like to do because it is not near as clean as the one in lee's summit was. When I went to the counter to pay for the meals with my gift cards, none of the seven remaining gift cards worked. After the server tried all seven of them, she read the nearly microscopic printing on the back of the cards that says that after a time, steak 'n shake deducts $1.50 per month from the value of each card. She was as surprised as I was, as was the manager. That means that $10.50 per month was deducted from my seven cards until they were worthless. Essentially, I threw away $175 (one hundred and seventy five dollars) by buying gift cards that should always be as good as cash at steak 'n shake. I have quite a few other restaurant gift cards, and none of them charge a fee for non-use. The fee on the is a complete ripoff to anybody who doesn't read the fine print... Which nobody, including the employees does. You should stop charging this ridiculous fee, print the $1.50 fee information on the cards and any advertising for them in large, easily noticeable letters, or stop selling the gift cards. I have given many steak 'n shake cards to my nephews and nieces. I will be totally humiliated if I find out that they were not worth face value when they tried to use them. I am very sure that we will not be dining at steak 'n shake, or buying their gift cards in the future. My grandchildren are very disappointed that I will not be taking them there anymore, but I have explained to them that this is the way to deal with businesses with such disregard for their customers.

This review concerns your restaurant in The Villages, FL. My wife and I, and sometimes friends, have visited your restaurant every Sunday after church for years. We always request Wendy as our server, as she is awesome and has a great personality; the food is always great.
However, our complaint relates to the way the restaurant is run. It would appear that when we arrive, no one is designated to seat guests; whatever server has the time, seats us and that can make us wait for ten minutes or more, although there are many seats available. In the winter when the "snowbirds" dominate the area, it is much worse and sometimes, we turn around and leave, as the line is too lengthy (not to mention that the area for guests to wait in is way too small; very poor building design for a restaurant). When it is that busy, you should have a full-time employee to seat guests.
The same goes for paying the bill; whatever cook is available takes our money; however, you can wait on line for five minutes just for that, as they are very busy as well. Why don't you have a full-time cashier?
Coffee is a big thing with seniors here; everyone requests second and third servings of coffee. Again, the servers try to do this; however, they are so busy serving food, cleaning off tables and seating guests, you have to beg to get seconds. (These poor gals can't do everything) You could easily remedy this problem by putting insulated coffee carafes on the table like IHOP and Perkins. Also, hire some teenager to just walk around the restaurant just filling coffee cups. I am confident their compensation will not break the bank; you could pay their salary from guests that wouldn't walk out in disgust.
Lastly, you should fire your cleaning company! It would appear that they have an a big problem bending over to clean under the seats and such. We have observed food under cabinets and tables that have been there weeks after weeks. We are surprised the health department has not visited your restaurant.
We all have mentioned these issues with several employees for over a year, but they all say corporate runs the show and they are helpless. It is time to change some corporate policies!
In summary, you should change the organization of your restaurant to accommodate your guests so that they can get seated quickly, get coffee in a timely manner, check out quickly and enjoy a CLEAN restaurant. Unfortunately for Steak 'n Shake, we will not be soliciting your restaurant on a regular basis any longer until these issues are addressed. Seniors here don't tolerate bad service and
filthy restaurants. You can tell from the many restaurants and food franchises that have closed over the last five years. Check us out!

I want to say that I have been coming to Steak ‘n Shake for years and never have I ever seen a manager talk down on her employees as bad as she does. something needs to be done or her talked to the food is great tastes amazing like always but the management is terrible. I would like to point out that Gail does an amazing job at everything there I've seen her run circles around the other people and she's so kind to her customers. I'll be giving Steak ‘n Shake one more try but if things have not changed Steak ‘n Shake will lose my business
overall service
My husband and I walked into the steak and shake to make a to go order. We put our order in and sat down by the cashier to wait. 10 minutes into our wait we received our milkshakes. Meanwhile I'm watching our food get made sloppily: one burger fell into two pieces on the grill and the cook ended up only putting one piece in the burger. Our order of burgers got moved on to the next step of production (condiments and wrap up), and just say their for the next 23 minutes. I got the managers attention to inquire about our order and where it was. She had no clue. When she asked the employees, they had no idea either. So she herself went to the cook line and grabbed those burgers sitting there and began to wrap them up for us. That is unsanitary and the food was most definitely going to be cold and stale. I'm extremely unsatisfied about my visit considering I've been going to Steak And Shake for over a decade.

My husband and I went to steak and shake in Alton Illinois yestetday about 6 and waited to be seated. Waitress came and got our order and got our burgers and fries pretty fast. My burger was the bbq one and my husbands had mushrooms...well mine somehow ended up with mushrooms..i dont like mushrooms so picked them off. She brought us our ticket and said heres your ticket but take your time. She never once came to check on us while we were eating. Then we wanted shakes so we had to go up to the checkout and get her attention so we could order shakes. We ordered shakes and 30 mins later still didn't get our shakes but it was on out ticket. We waited a little more and went to the checkout line again and a lady manager was standing there so I told her about the long wait and told her to just take them off our receipt because we waited 40 mins and still no shakes. She looked at the receipt said she was sorry, took the shakes off and we paid for our food and left. I just dont understand how or why it would take that long for shakes when they weren't very busy and the waitess (Paige) not even coming to check on us or anything. Very displeased by the way that all went down. Hopefully something can be done where they pay attention to their customers instead of talking and arguing by the soda machine.

Yesterday I ordered a #1 (burger) from steak and shake. About an hour after I ate there I started feeling very nauseous. And that night I couldn't stop puking. I was very shaky and it was awful. I hope someone can give me an answer as to what they did to their food that day. It was the steak and Shake By the Dayton mall, in ohio. Hopefully I start feeling better.

We walk in on a Saturday night with minimal customers. I should if known it was going to be a really crappy experience just by the smell of the place. Service was rushed and disconnected . My husband received a bowl of chili that looked old and dry. He told the server it didn't look right... the server took it away without a single word. A short while later he basically slams a new bowl onto the table. I ordered chili cheese fries a f those too were gross. There is no apparent mod a f there was they definitely had no presence . Im disappointed and will never return. The place was just gross. Never ever again

The food I ordered and shake was either missing or wrong. I orederd a 5 way chili and didnt recive it. I also orederd an all american with everything and got a plain bacon cheese burger. I also otedered a smores shake and a chocolate shake and recived 2 smores shakes. Seriously, this isn't the first time. Second when I called to let them know the girl who answered was laughing. I will get as many people I know to not come there.

Your location in elizabethtown is pathetic. While I was there 3 families, mine included left because we could not get seated. Let me clarify, it was not busy. The restaurant was half full. This is a prime example of poor management . There were people waiting in the drive thru that had to honk their horns to get service. If you fired all managers it might help, but I doubt. I am surprised that you are still in business
three steak n shakes not serving at 11:15
I was extremely unhappy this evening when myself, a friend and all of our 5 kids traveled to three different Steak N Shakes at 11:00, 11:15 and 11:30 only to be told at EACH one that "we are short staffed and are closing at 11:00", or "we close at 12:00 so we stop serving food at 11:00" or the grill isn't working properly and we have to close". We couldn't believe it. Absolutely unacceptable. One Steak n Shake was on Rangeline Road the next 96/Keystone and the final was 96/I69. All in INDIANA. I am at a loss for how this happened or what was going on. It's honestly unbelievable.

General manager Brittany and manager McKenna, Statesboro Ga. came in without work uniform and only had on tank tops, the general manager cleavage was showing and you could see her nipples clearly. She also was twerking in the kitchen. The manager McKenna came in drunk to where you can smell then alcohol on her. I want them gone. It was unprofessional and that is not how you manager a restaurant.
the quality of food
This is the worst food i have ever seen served from a fast food. Not only was the entire hot dog cut in half; it literally looked as if someone had already taken a bite out of the bun. This meal was for my 3 year old daughter and it was very unclean to receive in this manner.
I also ordered a burger that was cold, the bacon was undercooked.. And i had to oull up to wait on fresh onion rings which were also undercooked.
portabella mushroom swiss steak burger
My husband, 4 year old son and I went to the Steak and Shake today in Westerville, Ohio off of Polaris Pkwy. My husband ordered the portabella mushroom Swiss steak burger and clearly stated WITHOUT mayonnaise. The waitress noted it and put the order in. When the order came his burger had the mayonnaise on it. He nicely asked it to be redone since he does not like the taste of mayonnaise at all. (Side note) My husband usually never sends anything back because he/we try to be as easy going as we can be and we understand mistakes happen. However, when the burger came back, less than a minute later, it was clear that the mayonnaise was just wiped off the bun but yet the same bun was put back on the burger because there was still some mayonnaise on it that the cook missed wiping off. We called over the floor manager and he was very apologetic and said he would remake the whole burger himself and the waitress we had said the same thing a few minutes after. Both the floor manager and waitress were very professional and apologetic when it was not even their fault and we appreciated that very much. What my husband and I took issue with is how it was pure laziness on the cooks part to not even care how a customer felt and just basically didn't care how the food came out. What if it was someone who was allergic to mayonnaise? That is what my husband kept saying. He's not, thankfully, but the carelessness, laziness of this cook/s is more of the reason why we are writing this complaint.
I want to point out again, that the waitress we had and the floor manager were more than gracious, apologetic and helpful with our situation.
We had a kids milkshake taken off our bill ( that my 4 year old son had) which was very nice but my husband and I both felt the burger should have been taken off. That being said, we have always loved your restaurant, food and atmosphere but we were very disappointed in this clear lack of caring what a customer orders and when it comes back just wiping mayonnaise off and giving it right back.

burnt hamburger buns
I ordered two hamburgers from the drive through. I got them and drove 15 minutes to my home. Upon opening them to serve I realized both had soot black burnt buns. I returned to Steak n Shake and asked for 2 new non burnt hamburgers. They accommodated but did not offer an apology or anything for my time and trouble. I would like to receive some form of compensation. I can't believe they would sell something like this instead of throwing it away.

My husband and son order steakburger with bacon and cheese loaded my husband had onion rings and my son had fries. When they brung those to them they didn't have any becon on them so the lady took them back and had the cook to put bacon on them when she finally brung them back about 10 mins later everything was cold . My daughter ordered a cheese burger load and Fry's her hamburger was burnt and Fry's where cold. My youngest ordered mini corn dogs and Fry's the corn dogs was burnt. My toca salad was cold and so was my cheese fries. I stood up at the check out for 30 mins before anybody came to check me out there was dirty tables and only 3 workers. We will never go back . The two girls where in the drive thru window and the boy that was cooking seen me and two other people standing there and would not get help I had to hollar for someone to come check me out and help the others that where waiting
