a meal
On Sunday December 2, 2017 my husband and I went to Steak and Shake on Meijer Drive for breakfast. There was only one other customer in the restaurant at the time. We ordered breakfast and it was the worst we have had. The eggs were ordered as over medium and over easy and both were hard. the sausage patty was over cooked to the point of being dry as were the hash browns. We eat there very often and have never had such bad food. The waitress was at the window we]hen the food came up, but walked away and to take a phone call instead of bringing our food to the table. I think we should be reimbursed for our two meals in the form of gift cards.

just plain mad.
I don't usually let things bother me, but we have a new steak and shake in Winston Salem, n.c. And I though I'd go through the drive through at lunch. It took way too long, but that's not the worst part. The kid at the window was in a big hurry, so he gave me my food and and rushed me on my way. I looked for my debit card but couldn't find it. When I returned to work, I looked in my truck, in the bag, but it wasn't there. I told my wife to cancel my card, but she called steak and shake first. They said he remembered me, and was sure he gave me my card. We cancelled the card, and when I got off work I called them and the manner said, "oh yeah, I have your card in my pocket ".
When I went to get it, all he had to say was, "sorry about that ". Now I have to wait 7-10 business days for a new card. Not very people friendly!
my food and a bad manager
On Sunday my 10 year old daughter and I went to eat after church. We ordered our food our waitress was very sweet and efficient. I ordered a bowl of chili and a Frisco meal and my daughter ordered the corn dog kids meal. My chili comes and my daughter said ewww mommy look at your spoon. I pick it up and there was dried cheese on it. My waitress was very apologetic and quickly brought another spoon. I put ketchup, pepper, and crackers in while waiting for the pepper sauce to come. I put my spoon in and felt something hard. I thought it was a bone or something. Then I went to stir everything up and put pops this hard plastic object. I was livid. So I stopped the first waitress that passed and said I wanted to speak with a manager. She went and told the manager and he continued doing what he was doing. By this time my waitress came with the pepper sauce and she was like "oh my what is in your chili" I replied I would love to know myself. She said hold on let me get you the manager. She told him and he looked over and huffed as if I was being an inconvenience to him. He came to my table and said "what's the problem" I showed him my bowl and he grabbed it and as he was trying to walk away he said I'll get you another bowl? I was like ewww how about you throw that entire pot out it's contaminated and anyone that is currently eating chili should be told as well that it was contaminated. He didn't say anything and walked away. I told my daughter come on let's go and as we were leaving a lady stopped me and asked what was in it because she just ate a bowl herself. I showed her the pictures I took she was just as disgusted and then I left!
drive thru service.
We went last night to pick up our sunday dinner. We thought that we would try your new hamburger. We saw the meal was 7.99. We ask if we could sub milkshakes instead of drinks. The girl said that it would be fine. We got up to the window and it was 2 dollars more than we thought. When we asked about it. She said that it was because of the shakes. So, we said give us the drinks and we had a buy one get one coupon for the shakes. She said ok took our drink order. Now we should be paying the same amount but now it's 4 dollars more. We told them to just cancel the order. At that point they called me a [censor]ing b[censor] and started throwing things. Needless to say I won't be going back.

Went to local steak n shake with my sister for lunch. Ordered 2 burgers, and 2 shakes. When we received our food, my prime burger was cold, and cheese was unmelted. Upon looking around the eating environment, we noticed an obscene amount of flys. We were able to count around 30 flys where we sat, and there were noticeably large amount of flys in the kitchen area. It took them 7 minutes to produce the first shake after our meal had already come out. I went up to the counter to pick mine up, and decided to wait for the other shake. It took them 10 minutes to make the second shake on my order, and in the mean time, they had already made 2 other shakes for different consumers. I stood waiting for the second shake for 10 minutes, and while I stood waiting, something fell on me from the ceiling. When I looked on the ground to see what it was, it was a pair of flys reproducing (no lie). After about 10 minutes, I received my second shake and went to finish my burger, which was now colder than before. One of the staff was collecting trays, and asking about consumer experience, and when she made it to my table, I filled her in on these things. She said she would go tell her manager and the manager would be right with us. The person behind us had a similar experience and made complaints as well. The manager came and spoke to him, after refunding his purchase, the manager walked right by us with out so much of a word. So we left.
drive-thru
I am at the Steak and Shake in Raymore Missouri at 7:30 a.m. The sticker on the drive-thru Windows say they should open at 6:30 a.m. All the lights are dark but I can see the employees inside and I have been waited at the drive-thru for over 10 minutes with no answer. This has been happening ever since they have changed the morning manager. It's amazing that they're still in business.
Its 7:40 in the morning and nobody is answering the drive-thru. According to the hours on the drive-thru window they should be open over an hour ago. This has happened on more than one occasion at the Raymore Missouri location.
my order being incorrect, and how it was handled.
On December 4th at approximately 5:40 a.m. I ordered a number 17 with cheese mayonnaise mustard tomato and pickle and grilled onions. I was giving my total and instructed to pull around front when I pulled around front I was greeted buy individual that I later found out was the manager I believe his name was Kevin or Joseph but I'm pretty sure it was Kevin I'm having a hard time remembering right now because I'm very upset. However this manager on December 4th 5:40 a.m. was very nice he gave me my mail and told me to have a lovely day very friendly. When I got to my home to partake of the meal I had just purchased I discovered that my order was incorrect I was missing mustard and I was missing cheese. I looked up the phone number to the location to call the location and inform them of the error and see if we could come to some sort of solution. An unidentified female answer the phone I informed her of the situation and she happily handed the phone over to a manager. This manager had a chipper voice and seem to be friendly but what he was saying was not. First he lied and told me he has not had a drive-through customer and the past 30 minutes when I had only been there about 10 to 15 minutes ago. Then he accused me of scamming him for a free $4 Burger which was very insulting. He / talk to me and hung up on me. After realizing I have been hung up on, I thought to myself surely a manager of a reputable establishment such as a Steak and Shake would not have hung up on me so I called back thinking that this occurred in error. So I called back a second time. The second call took place on December 4th at approximately 6:10 a.m. the second phone call I asked for his name he gave me his name and a happy voice but with Eric and sarcastic overtones I tried to again explain myself in Converse with him and an adult and respectable Manner and he began to over talk me talk for a fast no one could understand anyone and then he hung up on me second time. After this I knew that the first time was not an error. I attempted to call back a third time to inform them of my displeasure with their services and inform them that I would be filing a complaint and the phone just rang and rang and rang for almost for almost a full 60 seconds. This is my favorite Steak and Shake location and one of my favorite restaurants to go to however if this is how the employees treat customer and they feel it's okay and there will be no ramifications for their actions that I'm not sure how much longer myself or my family will be doing business with Steak and Shake response and any help or advice in the situation would be greatly appreciated.

Went to steak and shake tonight. Had to wait 30+ min in the drive thru for burnt dried out food and missing items. Who on earth thinks it's ok to sell food that is burnt. What ever happened to customer service and taking pride in your job. I mean it's not like it's hard to make a burger or toast some bread. I will right on site I can this is not acceptable.

I was enjoying my delicious m and m shake when I took a bit there was a big peice of something on my mouth when I took it out to investigate I found a shard of glass and or plastic. Stopped in at the south bend Indian a location. Stake n shake is one of my favorite restaurant.
Start off by pulling into drive thru and the whole location is dark. Board isn't lit. I sit for 3 min pull around and see a small hand full of workers in there. I walk in they said drive thru is closed. Since when? Place was a disaster inside. It's 5a.m it was discussing and employee from kitchen lays across booth with shoes on wall.

According to the waiter second shift didn't prep the steak burgers. With that being said we were told we could only order chicken or prime burgers. On top of that the employees were being obnoxious and acting as if there were no customers in the lobby. There are dirty tables and employees sitting. It's very disappointing when you plan to come to Steak ‘n Shake to get a steak burger and are told there are none available.
the amount of time it takes to get service at the drive thru after 10pm at night
This is now the second time that we have had to wait a considerable amount of time when trying to order through the drive thru. We pulled up tonight 11 pm 12/3/17 (not one car in front of us) and were told to look over the menu 6 minutes later we still had not been asked for our order. My husband said hello a few times (the back door was open and we could hear the employees laughing and screaming inside). We waited a total of ten minutes before driving off. This is not the first time we've had to wait such a long time, but it is the first time we've left this upset. Things like this are bad for business. I would understand if they were busy, but they never are. We didn't have a single car in front of us... And the inside looked pretty empty as we were pulling away.

As I was eating at your restaurant I noticed no one was sitting the customers at the door even though there were servers standing around doing nothing, I then realized what seemed to be a past employee visiting as a guest get up to seat the door and let the servers know where they were sat and how many. I then watched these two servers, Courtney and Lawson, argue in front of the whole restaurant with this person cussing and carrying on and continued so say stuff after the person left the restaurant. I found this VERY unprofessional to do in front of the guest, especially when they were getting helped out. I am a regular customer here and it saddens me to see this restaurant going down hill.

My wife and I went to eat at the East Peoria, Illinois Steak & Shake today 12/2/2017 around 3pm. The place was not crowded, many empty tables.
It took forever to get our food and when we did, the fries were cold and so was my chili mac.
Did I return it no because the waitress never came back to our table until it was time to clear it.
Again this place was not busy, I was raised in a family business and I can tell you, no food ever went out to the customer unless it was hot.

My family went to Steak n shake for my daughter's 10th Birthday and it sucked... The waiter messed our order up... The lady who was seating us got an attitude cuz we asked for a booth and our Taco salad was more lettuce then anything else... I had to pick the lettuce outa my salad and ended up with a plate of lettuce and like 4 bites of the taco part... Not satisfied...

Saturday the 2nd of December 2017 This was the worst service from the moment we entered til we left.. We waited too long to be seated, too long for our order to be taken and too long for our order (which was wrong) but I was starved and ate it.. The fries were cold and the sandwich was wrong.. The receipt she gave us was not ours. Like I said it was the worst.. We were told they are short on people. The manager was helping in the kitchen.. I am not sure who to blame for all of it.. The store number is 315.. We always come to this one and am happy but today at 11:30 it was not. We didn't leave til 12:30. Yes we will return and I hope to better service...
terrible service at steak n shake
The service we received was terrible on December 1, 2017. I arrived with my husband and nephew at 615pm and did not get our food until after 7. people who were seated after us had food and finished before we even got ours which is ridiculous. The manager had no idea what was going on and was very rude when people were asking what's taking so long. She wouldn't even give us a discount on our food

Went to steak and shake in Cookeville Tennessee. Was seated promptly, order taken promptly, food received in average time. Then it went downhill. Had to wait 10 or more minutes for refills on drinks after food was delivered. Then after our meal was complete, I waited 30 minutes for our check, which I never received. I had to go up to the register and ask for the receipt. Worst service I have been received at Steak and Shake.

We were served at a location and it took 35 min for food. In addition they forgot half my meal while I watch multiple servers standing around. I brought it to managers attention he told me for me to get money back I had to give the food back due to it being the policy. I had ordered food for four two of which were children under age six. I would like my money back still due to service and amount of time.

I love steak n shake and I could eat here constantly every meal of my life. So that is why I am informing the management that you have removed the greatest milkshake on earth from the menu. The salted caramel pretzel milkshake is the greatest milkshake to ever be mixed on this earth. And you have provided this for many years. But I have just been informed that it has been removed from the menu. I hope that you can bring it back thank you
