On Thursday. 11/9/17 my grandson and I stopped for breakfast at the SR7, Wellington, Florida location. It was about 8 A M. We walked in. There were 3 employees, no customers. The lady was washing the floor, a guy by the grill yelled to us to sit anywhere, and the other guy was fixing his clothing . We sat down. No one came over with menus or acknowledged us. They just kept conversing with each other in their native tongue so we got up and walked out . This is no way to run a business.

While wiping sweat from his forehead on to his wrist, it looked like he just got out of the shower. After 25minute wait just to get our order taken and 30 more minutes to get food. Mushroom burger had 2 tiny fingernail sized mushrooms on it. Noticed several other customers returning food around us for similar reasons food not properly made. We left our food on the table uneaten and headed out the door, couldn't even get someone to take our money or find a manager so we left and gave up! No comparison to steak n shake at myrtle beach, they are always packed yet you still get service in a timely manner and the order always correct. If you notice wendy's and chic fil a down the street are packed and your place is only 40% capacity take a hint the locals know better! You are going to run out of business eventually.

breakfast shake
I got the frosted flakes milkshake thinking it would be just like the pictures I have seen. To my dismay I could not tell I got a breakfast shake. The flakes were so crushed up I might as well have gotten a regular shake and saved some money. I would have liked to been able to see flakes in my shake. To me I wanted it to be like eating a bowl of cereal.

I'm logging this complaint in reference to the quality of product I received on 11/7/2017
At 12:37. I ordered a cheeseburger and what I received was appeared to be scrapes of a burger. I took a picture of the burger. I chose Steak and Shake because I was under the impression it was the best in the area.
To say I'm pleased with my experience? No I Not because there are other establishments in a rocks throw and I chose this one because of the great shakes. I guess the burgers fall a distance second along with the quality of the food

Visited your restaurant in Vincennes, IN on 11-06-2017 for lunch arriving at about 12:15. Ordered a simple double cheeseburger/fries combo with a diet Coke. It took 30 minutes to get served. To make matters worse the quantity of French fries was less than I have received in any of your Indianapolis, IN or Terre Haute, IN restaurants. I brought this to the attention of the cashier, she seemed to care less. I received a response "is that right?". No I'm sorry, I'll check with the kitchen or anything. I've seen other complaints regarding this particular restaurant on local Facebook pages before but thought is was emotion or something personal. Seems to be true.
this is not so much as a complaint as a major disappointment.

I've been a LOYAL Steak & shake customer since I attended College at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach Florida 1965.
I also worked for Disney (world) for 15 years and Steak & Shake was my go to place.
I now live in Pennsylvania and every time our family travels south we search out Steak and Shake locations.
We have also driven an hour into New Jersey to the Windsor, NJ Steak & shake location and even though it's only a signature facility it's OK.
On November 3, 2017 my wife and I traveled to Tenefly, NJ for a business meeting and after we Googled Steak & Shake and found the Paramus Park Mall location and drove the 25 minutes excited to have a Steak & Shake lunch.
to our disappointment the your Signature Store was CLOSED with chairs turned up on tables. What a BUMMER.
PLEASE open a Steak & Shake near the King of Prussia Mall so we don't have to drive hours to enjoy a Steakburger and a Shake.

general service cross food contamination
Hi I love food here, been going for years.. Unfortunately I went to a location in Michigan I never been too. Apon walking in my boyfriend and I hear the cashier say "y'all mite not be able to get food". Which was weird since its 24hrs.. An employee name tyrell which I'm assuming was the cook walks out.. My order was placed they said give us a while. O.k.. I specifically asked for no mayo on my burger. Due to I'm allergic. They made a fuss but took it back.. I opened my food again an it was the same meat different bun! The meat still had mayo on it! What a lazy disgusting thing to do! The manager said he was sorry.. Why would he the manager even do that?! Yes I was refunded. Horrible experience I'm telling everyone at the hotel across the lot never eat there again.
fresco melt
Ordered a 5.99 steak and shake meal deal that inlcuded a frie a cheeseburger a shake and one side. I had ordered cheese fries and side of chili and received neither side whats so ever.
I also ordered a fresco melt meal for 3.99 and have opened my melt to see the bread isnt cooked whatsoever. Just 2 peaces of raw sliced bread.. I didn't want to complain at all and let the no sides go. Then once i saw the fact that my melt wasnt fully prepared with the raw bread decided i should contact u guys. Scares me to think what else was left un prepared properly or under cooked.. This was at the steak n shake in holland mi across from walmart.
coupon usage
I went the location on N Hurstbourne Parkway in Louisville, KY 40220 and for some reason we could not use coupons in the drive thru. We have been going to that location once a month to get a drive thru order for at least the past 15 years and not once have I been denied using coupons in the drive thru. Because of that we decided to take our business elsewhere. I am disappointed because we do love going to Steak ‘n Shake but this has seriously made us reconsider on future visit to that establishment. I don't know why the rule has changed but that does not seem like the best option

ridiculous wait.
I got to steak 'n shake drive thru at 1:24, and was not greeted until 1:26. At this time they said "one moment" I waited until 1:31 and asked they if they were ready, and they replied "no". I waited another 10 minutes trying to be patient. At 1:41 I asked one last time if they were ready and they said "no ma'am, we have a lot of people actually dining in that we are taking care of". So they were ignoring me for the indoor people, but there were only 3 cars in the whole lot and 2 tables with people because when I got there some people were leaving. This is not the first time this has happened at this particular one either. However, normally, I am able to at least order, but then they have you wait 30+ minutes for it at the window. Even then the fries are typically limp and the meals are wrong. Not sure what is going on but this is a ridiculous wait time for a drive thru, also a bit rude to ignore someone in drive thru to fully serve everyone inside without even taking my order. I ended up leaving because I could not wait another 15 minutes for them to finally take my order.
unfair treatment of a server

A young black server came to work there today. Apparently the male manager had too many servers there today so he was telling this black female server to host but at the same wage as a server which is $2 something an hour. She was arguing that if she hosted she should get paid the host wage. He refused. He told her she could sit there all day or go home and lose her job. He refused to clock her out. This could be a labor violation or maybe a racial issue. I think corporate should discipline this manager and make him pay host wages to this girl if she has to host. She had two very long pony tails.
my service
Our server said she was going to take a 5 minute break and took a 20 minute. While we sat there, emptied drinks and waiting on our check for a while. She finally came back to our table and asked "did they get you your ticket" as if someone else was supposed to be doing her job. With the business being so crappy we decided to just lay the money on the table and leave because it was getting later and we wanted to head home. We come to Steak 'n Shake quite a bit and always love the food but the service just sucks. After we walked out we got into our car and drove around the store and had 2 people lurking out the drive thru window and 3 coming after us angry asking "where their money was" accusing us of not playing, we politely replied that we left it on the table. I don't appreciate false accuizations thrown at myself nor my children. If they keep it up on mosts nights like this imagine how many patient people get up and leave for bad service. I hope this problem gets resolved. Thank you.

I went to the restaurant in Joliet, Il. With two of my daughters a friend and two grandsons.
They were out of chili, lettuce, mushrooms, bananas, cottage cheese and several other items. The applesauce was brought to us In Little individual containers We had to beg for silverware and then they came with 4 and asked how many we needed. We had 6 people at the table. They brought us two shakes in to go cups melted and the 3rd thAt was ordered later had a real glass. We had Taco Bell napkins 4 and Dairy Queen spoons. We sat at our table for 30 minutes before my daughter got up and asked if anyone was going to wait on us. If we hadn't have had my two year old and 6 year old grandsons with us we would have left. There are many other restaurants and we will no longer choose yours.
milkshake
I went through the drive-thru of your Erie location and ordered a milkshake. Upon paying they made me sit in front of the store for 20 minutes waiting on my milkshake, when I finally received my milkshake it was melted already and the wrong milkshake. I am very disappointed as this seems to happen quite often at this location, whenever I complain that I got the wrong milkshake no one seems to help solve the issue.

Went to the steak and shake at 32751 Concord Drive, Madison Heights, MI Horrible service had to wait 15-20mims to get served another 10 for drinks, seen two customers before back to back get there order wrong. The waitress was really nice and busy the manager was present but didn't seem to care that she needed help. Left with a added to go order no fries in bag had to go back. Onion rings canme out 15 minutes after we had our food/ burgers already ate. The waitress herself had to drop the onion rings asking the back multiple to make them but never did.There were 4 people in the back total and no one came to help here. The manager is not pleasant, constantly asking in front of the customer for the waitress to do something or find something for him. Never thinking she has all these customer to care for. Poor teamwork and customer service skills for the manager and people in the back. Will probably never return here as long as this is how it run.
terrible service/terrible management
On Saturday night, October 28, my friends and I went to the Steak n Shake on Coldwater Road in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When we were seated, the waitress was very prompt on taking our order and getting our drinks, which was about the only good thing about this visit. After she took our order, we waited for over an hour. We did not receive anything, even drink refills, so we had to go up and refill our own. After waiting on our food for over an hour, we asked about it and the waitress said that she will check on it. While we were waiting, numerous larger parties had come in after us, and they all received their food within a reasonable time, and we still sat there and waited. After waiting close to AN HOUR AND A HALF for our food, we went to ask the waitress again about our food and she said it was not in her control and to talk to the manager. The manager then came to our table and apologized because they were understaffed, however that is no excuse to why we had to wait almost TWO HOURS for a couple burgers and shake, and we only had four in our party when there were parties of almost ten getting their food. The manager then said that it would be another TWENTY MINUTES for our food, so we told him we were leaving. He did not care at all that we were leaving, did not offer anything to help us stay, and just said bye. This is extremely sad because I worked at Steak n Shake as my first job a few years back when I was in High School, and customer service and satisfaction was our top priority, but apparently the Steak n Shake on Coldwater Road is far from that mindset. Honestly makes me ashamed to have ever worked for this corporation, and I plan on never returning to eat at any Steak n Shake because of how awful my friends and I were treated, and how poor our service was. I would rather eat disgusting McDonalds burgers and get fast service than to go back to this establishment ever again. Learn good management skills, and figure out how to run a dang restaurant, I am a junior in college and I could've done better.

Unfortunately this is an issue that I have come across multiple times. While going through the drive through I noticed a gentleman cooking food wearing only a "beater" or tanktop style shirt on his upper half. Nor was he wearing gloves or a hat. Normally I probably wouldn't have noticed but this guy was pretty [censor]in hairy lol. The last thing I want is one of his back hairs or armpit hairs falling in my food. I don't work in the food industry so I don't know that this violates any health code issues, but it's extremely disgusting. I wish this was an isolated incident but it's happened 3 times now. Every time it has been very early in the morning, as I work at 4am. I hope this problem can be resolved, I love streak n shake, but not armpit hair in my Frisco melt.

Terrible service, took 20 minutes to get greeted and was greeted by a friendly server named Summer who took my family though we were out of her section, food was cold & took about 15-20 minutes to arrive, management was TERRIBLE especially Joe . Found hair in my food & I was not refunded for my meal . The restaurant was dirty. It was a terrible experience.

We went to get our food to go only two other were customer sitting eating . It took 40 mins and everyone behind us got there food who were coming in to go. We started to complain then another 5 mins go by still nothing not even my soda and we demand our money back and the manager called the police on us for yelling at them because two burgers to go shouldn't take 45 mins worst experience of my life at any food place.

This is what I get when I order a grilled cheese? How disgusting that someone would actually serve this to a customer! I stopped here on my way to work and I am beyond angry right now, as I am at work and now have no food to eat for the night!
