online movie ticket purchase
I purchased movie tickets online on 18.09.2017 @11.55. The transaction successfully went off my bank account but not on the Ster Kineokor side. I called Ster Kinekor call centre who informed me that the money will be reversed so I proceeded in trying to book the tickets and once again, money off my account, NO movie tickets.
After the 4th call I was told that they were having technical issues on their website and when enquring why there was no notice of this technical error I was informed that it only cam to their attention now and I should not worry the funds will be reversed in 24 hours.
Yesterday after 12, 24 hours later STILL no money. I called again and was informed to email all my details and it will be sorted. Ok, email sent, got a case number, checked this morning STILL no money.
However, the transaction is noww successful on my bank account and I am R164 short and STILL NO MOVIE TICKETS!
I called again, today 20 September @8:50 and my query and case number was only looked at NOW! only to be told I will have to wait 3 -7 working days for MY OWN MONEY!
Which mind you as so quickly deducted from my bank account and now I! need to wait.
The level of customer service I have experienced is absolutely appaling. Going to the movies has never been such a hassle.

I was at Ster-Kindekor at Matlosana Mall Klerksdorp, North West on 17/09/2017 to buy me and my wife two tickets for the new IT movie. We walked right past one of the employees to the front desk kiosk where we always bought the tickets. We tried to get the employee's attention as there was no one else there to help us, after some struggle he finally stopped texting on his phone.
He then took us to the desk where we usually order the beverages. I asked him if they changed where you buy the tickets cause usually it was at the front desk, he then told me in a very rude tone that I'm lying and that no one buys tickets there.
At that time I really wanted to tell my wife let's rather walk away and wait for the movie to come out on DVD. At that time my wife asked him if they have a new system cause he is not asking for us to swipe our Club Cards...he then just dismissed her and told her no. So now we've lost points on our cards because of one of Ster-Kindekor employee's bad service.

Last night on the 12th of September at Secunda Ster Kinekor as going into the cinema through the swing doors the one door fell ontop of my head. Causing me to lose a few seconds of consciousness and having to drop everything in my hands. This could have been more serious if it were an elderly person or a child. This is unacceptable, how can the door hinge be broken into a dark passage of a movie house. This morning I have a serious headache and neck pains as a result. Please ensure the upkeep is seen to as this is terrible and unnecessary injury.

the condition of ster kinekor garden route mall
Garden route sterkinekor movies are the only cinema in garden route. People from Knysna, Oudshoorn, Mosselbay all have to travel to George for movies. It is disgusting to say the least. It smells, it is dirty, the chairs are broken. The toilets are nausiating most of the times. We find they dont put the lights on between shows and we have to find our way in the dark. The feeling is that they dont want us to see the disgusting, dirty stained smelly seats. What they dont realise is that we've got tortches on our phones. I am expecting friends from Australia and I am definitely not going to take them to our movies. Instead of feeling proud to show them where we go for movies I am to shy to take them there. We also dont feel like dressing up for movies. You feel like taking dirty clothes out of the laundry basket because you dont want to soil clean clothes. We beg ster kinekor to become either the movie house it use to be or we going to suggest that numetro considers opening a moviehouse in Garden Route. May some competition will be a good thing.

My boyfriend and I went to Rosebank to go watch a movie, we annitially wanted to watch the dark towers and arrived at the cinema to see it wasn't on so we settled for the glass castle. After exploring Rosebank as we are not from jhb we found another cinema at the zone wgich was screening the movie we originally wanted to watch. We Went all the way back to nuveau to ask if there was any way we could cancel the tickets and rather go rebook at the zone for the movie we originally wanted to watch. We were told no we can't help you, you must either stick with what you have or swap at the same cinema for another movie. So we stayed. When our movie started we walked in and popcorn boxes were still all over the seats cooldrink cups were still there from the previous screening, there is a section of the roof on the back left hand side which was hanging loose. How is a person supposed to enjoy anything in that environment. We were certainly not happy with the service received.
inappropriate age restricted trailers

My 10 year old and I went to go and watch the 30Clock screening of Marvels Inhumans (age 10-12) at Mall of Africa and they played the IT trailer (age 16) which was very inappropriate.
He woke up screaming and shaking of fear. This is completely unacceptable and not the first time that I have seen inappropriate trailers in age restricted movies at ster kinekor.

We planned almost a week ago, to watch a movie tonight(5 Sept ). I did not have my purse that has our movie cards with me, and asked whether they can retrieve the card info from the system. 8:12pm for the 8:15pm movie.
Your staff member Pamela sat in front of the computer and asked us to enter the details. (We're 4 that wanted to watch a movie ) Initially Pamela helped, but then sat still for long time periods inbetween. I asked her whether it would be possible to hurry as it was already 8:30pm (she were not very productive and deliberately delayed her assistance ). After asking more than once just to make an effort to go to the search option, for the next, she simply looked at me and protested to help me. It was 8:40 eventually I asked her to call management. Management eventually assisted, but by that time it was 8:50. I was very upset that Pamela not being able to make proper judgement in being helpful, but instead deliberately refuced to check the details to delay the process deliberately . Very upset we realised that too much time has gone waisted as the movie was at least 20 min on. What was supposed to be a night out as a family, we were agitated by poor service caused. Pamela is NOT suitable to work with clients professionally.

When I entered the ladies toilet all globes burn out there as well. 3. Toilet's had blood, faeces or urine in the toilet bowls 4. Toilets did not flush 5, Toilet I was used was dark, no lights 6. I could not wash my hands, no water, or no pressure for water 7. No toilet roll in any of the toilets 8. No hand wash 9. No hand towels 10. My husband used the men's toilets same story, all the urinals was blocked with urine. 11. Popcorn area dark and gloomy. I purchased a ticket but never received it due to a error the attended made, also was my bonus points not added. When in the movie the lights where not dimmed on the previews and 10 minutes into the movie, I had to get up and report it as we could not see anything. Another 10 minutes before the lights went off. I think I'll opt for a DVD ...cheaper and hazzle free...grrrrrrrrrr! After many years of movie magic support, I'm one hellava unhappy customer!

The service of the staff was very poor and when we went to watch the movie the quality very bad. it was dark, could not see everything.
the whole experience was not what we expected & the children really looked forward to watching the movie and as a family we were disappointed with the results.

I am a matric student that wanted to enjoy my last weekend before the hectic prelim exams by watching a movie (baby driver) the screen went blank and the movie was discontinued and we were given signatures on our tickets and were told return to watch the movie sometime but then my main complaint is the compensation...we were only given R76 for the movie tickets but what about the large amount of cash i spent for transportation im not saying those monies must be paid back knowing that its not possible for such compensation but all im asking is that we should be compensated in a way that would SATISFY us! and not just to brush off the matter with ticket refunds i am frustrated because my time and transportation money was put to waste and seeing bits of the movie removes the thrill and excitement i am very disappointed i still have the small piece from the ticket as proof because this is happening for the second time ! And transportation is costly and if we return the same thing is most likely to happen.

Went to the movies on Saturday 5 August 2017 at ster kinekor rosebank .. ..the worst experience I've had at ster kinekor ever.
No water
No electricity for the escalators
No cool drinks based
The pizza hut had no small pizzas
We got into the theatre and the lights were off...people battled to get to their seats
We eventually used our torches on our phones to find our seats which were ridiculously filthy
After approaching the manager she showed me a few small signs sporadically placed that showed there was no water ... definitely not enough to inform patrons sufficiently.
Really horrible experience...ended up watching the movie anyway based on me not trusting the refund from the manager...she basically signed my ticket and said i could go anywhere...how would they know ot was her signature?
Can't say I would want to come back here...dropped from our favorite ster kinekor to one we would tell our friends and family to avoid

Today we went to the Ster-Kinikor at River Square in Three Rivers. We had a horrible time. The only good thing was the movie which they luckily did not mess up too. We got there with our movie vouchers and we asked if we can use it for a 3D movie because the lady at the blood bank said that some Cinemas do allow you to use them if you pay for the glasses. So we asked, the lady responded that NO, IT IS ONLY FOR 2D MOVIES. We said we understand that we just wanted to asked and explained what the lady at the Blood Bank said. She again just said NO! We decided that we will just use the voucher on another time and bought the tickets. After that we went to buy the popcorn and asked for the double take combo. We asked if we could have smarties and before we could finish the guy just snorted that no we can't! We decided to take the astros and did not really mind just wasn't happy with his lack of manners. We asked twice for no ice in our cooldrink and when we the movie started and we start drink guess what ICE. We put spices on the popcorn and then i told my boyfriend I'm going to little girls room. The bathrooms were very dirty considering how empty the Cinemas was. On the way out of the bathroom stall the broken lock cut the top of my finger open. Still trying to not make a big deal we went into the Cinemas. Then the complaints ad came up and the volume was so loud that we could barely take it. The rest of the ads and beginning of the movie continued at that volume, it was painful. Half way through the ads and intro's the house lights were still on and I have to go ask for it to be switched off. The movie was really good. But other than that the service was terrible. We are strongly considering not to go back.
As a resolution I would suggest that management talk to there staff and we would like a written apology for the lack of professionalism.

I have been a loyal customer of Ster Kinekor's for many years. I have visited your branch at Gateway mall in Umhlanga and have had a terrible experience. We ordered 3 of the pizza, popcorn and cooldrink combos which cost me R249. On requesting a box, I was told that it would cost me R7 each and these combos did not include a box. On voicing my concern about how was I possibly going to carry these 3 items with my 2 hands, the staff had the audacity to tell me that he would give me a hand. I was annoyed and refused. How was my child going to cope carrying his items into the darkened cinemas? Ster Kinekor should be finding ways to improve convenience. When i asked to speak to the manager, he said that he never thought about it! He also told us to be prepared to pay for those boxes in future, to which I replied that I will not be back. The staff really need training in politeness and your service sucks for te exorbitant prices you charge!
refusal by gateway to accept a slightly torn r200 note
On 2017/07/14 I went to gateway, drew money from an atm, upon trying to pay cash for 3 Imax tickets i am informed that they cannot take a slightly torn note, as G4S Will not accept it. How is this my problem. The manager flatly refused to assist giving me the same reason. How is this possible. The note was issued by the atm, and is perfectly legal tender.
What a waste.
ster kinekor card (half price tuesday)

we went to Musgrave Ster-Kinekor on Tuesday the 4th of July. My SK card works every Tuesday apart from the 4th whereby one of your staff said that it is not registered and I had to pay full price. Apart from paying full price there were only 2 staff available on this particular evening to serve you and we ended up missing a part of the movie.
IT is clearly busier on Tuesday due to half price movies therefore you need to cater for the influx of customers. I cant complain about the service because there wasn't any. Most frustrating evening starting from SK card "all of a sudden not working" to the long lines of queues.

Hi. I went to watch Despicable Me 3 with my 3 year old son at Maponya Mall today (13/07/2017) aired at 16:45.
I was very disappointed to see a huge rat next to my son's bag. He saw it and was very frightened throughout the movie. He's even finding it difficult to sleep.
When I told the staff about what happened in the theatre, they just laughed about it and said "sorry"! I don't understand why a reputable company like SK does not fumigate its property! How are we even supposed to enjoy the movie with rats running around us as if we're in a forest.

I really had a good thought about if I should complain or not so on Saturday 6:00pm at East Rand Mall Hubby and I took his cousin to watch Transformers first obviously book a ticket the lady did not understand what we wanted I mean why are we there in the first place to book a ticket so on our way to watch the movie the seats are uncomfy as hell then we sit in the way back because that`s where the best spot is the sound is poor the cousin had to constantly close the door because the door was kept open there was a light constantly coming though so that was [censor] to say the least then almost at the end of the movie the people that wanted to watch the late movie kept coming in I mean seriously can the employees just keep them back there is still a movie showing I will never go back to East Rand Mall Ster-Kinekor to watch a movie the experience was to say the least horrible

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to watch Despicable me 3 at sterkinekor eastgate, 7pm show.
Firstly, we stood in a line with maybe 5 people in front of us to collect popcorn. The man serving everyone took 25 minutes to serve people simply because he kept getting distracted, talking to the other employees. When we eventually got into the cinema, I was shocked. There was popcorn and rubbish everywhere and a pizza tray in the middle of the dark cinema, which had I not seen, could have led to a serious accident as someone could have slipped on it and fallen down the stairs.
I looked for a manager to complain to after the movie but was told that there was no way to locate them .
Paying almost R200 for just movie tickets to be met with a dirty cinema and arriving late to a movie just because an employee wants to chat just puts a horrible damper on a date night.
