no ventilation in cinema
Family went to watch a 19h30 movie at the Ster Kinekor movie theatre in Bayside Mall, Table View. It was the worst movie experience ever to sit in a full cinema with ZERO ventilation! The manager, who's office looked like a complete mess with food and papers strewn around, could just say that he was aware of the problem and that it had been "escalated"... Whilst it looks more like a cost saving exercise by not running the air-conditioning system. Many complaints from friends on the exact same issue.
So many people should not be allowed in a confined space without proper ventilation as dictated by health and safety regulations!
Judging by the queue in front of the managers office prior to the start of our film I would assume that the complaints were about the same topic, and still they take our money and let us sit in the sweat box!
Me, my family and friends will avoid the "sauna" cinema complex from now onwards.
movie and fire alarm
good day I went to sterkinikor George 18th of dec and had to attend the 22:45 movie bad moms christmas booked for 3 people we were the only 3 people in the movie. at 23:30 the scene fire alarm went of and it continued for 25min during our movie. I feel this is tatally unacceptable and I would like a refund on the tickets for it was a bad experience...
management told me they can rewind the movie 25 min so I said how. do they excpect us do stay awake another hour or hour and half to finish movie.. we pay for a service and and experience to sit in the movie. cinima it was really not worth the experience.

I have hade the worst experience in my life.
Firstly lets start off with my day, I work shifts in a call center and I look forward to my 1nce a month movie night with the guys, just to get away from my wife and kids, the 1 night I look forward to, only to experience the most embarrassing rude staff I have ever encountered.
We get to the movies at 22:45 (Claremont) the movie starts at 23:00 (over drive) we are a group of friends, 5 total, we get to the counter, lights are off, I call out to the staff for assistance they shout from a distance, telling me the counter is closed, I say I want to buy a tickets "no the counter is closed"22:50,
No help whay so ever, I thought to myself I am not gona waste my night, we then walk upstairs to the cinema floor where nobody offered to assist, then thought ok the only way to actually get this peoples attention as nobody offered to help with tickets, because I could not accept that counters were closed before the movie actually started, we decided to walk into the movies.
We sat and then finally some attention, one of the staff members comes to me while I am sitting in the movie asks me "sir where is your ticket" I answered "I dont have a ticket your counters were closed before the movie started, I want to buy a ticket if you cant sell me tickets I would like to speak to your manager"
3mins later 3 staff members comes into the movies with a security guard, as if I was comitting a crime, what am I? A criminal asking to purchase a ticket but you cant sell me a ticket because you closed the counters?
This makes no sense.
I am then escorted out of the movie as if im a criminal, I ask the staff member wheres your manager as I requested? Instead you bring a security? He says "I am the manager" (Lucian isaacs) claims to be the manager.
Then when I am outside the movie, all staff is suddenly available for action now, but when I wanted to buy tickets nobody was available... This is representatives of ster kinekor... Wow!
Then another staff member (completely Rude) Veronica Valentine also claims to be the manager and claims that she only cashed up at 23:00 which clearly is a lie, please pull up footage please!
Extremely rude not a single apology from Veronica Valentine, as I said I would like her name and surname as I would like to file a complaint she sarcastically says "would you like my email address as well, yes you can report what ever you want"
What pathetic service is this?
Is that the way you treat customers when YOU in the wrong?
I would like feedback in this regard, as I have wasted petrol money and a completely embarrassed night!
If this is not escalated to the necessary department I will definitely be taking legal action as to how I was treated!
Please pull up footage as to how I was treated and nobody even thought of an apology.

wrong time displayed for daddy's home 2

On the 19th of December I wanted to watch Daddy's Home 2. Your app and website said it would show at 10:30. After driving 20 kilometers to get to Brooklyn Mall the self-service machines and workers told us there is only a 20:00 and 22:00 show. We are upset and disappointed. I would appreciate it if you could give us some explanation and an apology.
cinema screen faulty
Hi,
I watched Star Wars this afternoon (16/12/2017) at Sandton City cinemas (cinema 9).
The screen was faulty and the resulting experience was shocking. The were blocks on the screen with different brightness (half the screen very bright the other half very dark). This made the movie unwatchable.
A shocking overall experience for the price and one that resulted in a terrible viewing experience.
movie prestige experience
We hereby complaint a very poor service we got tonight at Ster-kinekor Eastgate.
We have bought a Prestige tickets for a couple couch for Star Wars, in Cinema 2, seat number D1-D2, for the 20:00 show.
When we arrive at the seat, we found out that the D2 seat was broken, which cannot be tilt backward. We complaint to the manager on site, he has made a brief try to fit it and he cannot make it. Then he informed us that there is nothing he can do. After the movie, which we cannot seat comfortably, as we need to try fit two people into one seat to put the leg on the leg panel, with the D2 seat which failed to decline backward, we have our back constraint and feel bad. We spoke to the mange on shift, his name is Mr Prince Mphange. He informed us that the seat was broken and he have ordered to repair, but it was not repaired.
We are not happy that by knowing the seat was broken, and the staff does not inform us up front, and we don't expect to be treated like that for a Prestige type of service.
We demand on either refund or two-complimentary tickets, but he informed us that although he feels sorry, but he cannot agree to that. He advice us to complaint on line. We asked him to give us an email address, he just told us to look at the Ster-kinekor web site. We went onto the site, there is no link for complaint nor any such contact address was given, therefore we have come to the Ster-kinekor facebook to raise complaint.
this is an extremely poor service for the standard such as Prestige...
being kicked out of a movie
On the 9th Dec 2017 myself and 2 other friends visited the SK Gateway for the FIRST TIME. We booked at 20:00 for 'Daddys Home 2'. As my friend didn't know, he unintentionally took the butter salt into the cinema. While we were walking an unpleasant waitress/server started chasing us calling us thieves.
We thought we resolved the matter by returning the spice, and apologizing.
15minutes into the movie someone comes and calls us out. The waitress was there with some other Indian guy who listened to us but instead of allowing us to continue the movie he told us to leave before he calls security.
sk clubcards and potch branch
Points are not added to SK club cards. I have used my clubcard for online bookings, swiped it for drinks extera yet my points reflect Zero. I have used my boyfriend's clubcard when booking for us online at more than two movies where just two of the movies were cine prestige movies, yet he only has 200 points. I also know of another person whos card was also faulty. Both of us should have over 1000 points by now, yet we don't and even when complaining at Potch Ster Kinekor I'm treated as a liar when saying it's impossible to have zero points because if been using the card for longer than a year now and I have traceability of using the cards online and I get asked are you sure as if I'm an [censor]. Yes I am sure, how on earth do I get the discounts then? I'm even treated as an idot when he eventually logs the call when he asks if my surname is correct and I say no its not Ptek it's Piek, but the system has it as Ptek. I think I know how to spell my own surname. Appauled by both the product and the service received.
online booking for movies

On the 25th of November 2017 I booked seats at Cinema Prestige at The Zone in Rosebank to watch Justice League at 20h00.
When i collected the tickets from the self help computer they were dated as 18th of November 2017. The seats I booked were thus double booked and i could not watch the movie.
I am extremely dissapointed at the service received as I wasted both time and money.
I have proof of my online booking confirmation as well as the incorrectly dated ticket i received,

We asked for tap water along with some other items and were charged R34 for the cup the water came in without it being made clear we are being charged for the cup. I querried the total amount as it seemed a lot. The manager came and messed around on the computer after the initial server "lost" my slip with the info of what I was charged for. After 10 mins they said oh yeah we charged for the cup... "sorry" and reversed the amount for the cup. 10 mins of wasting our time making us late for the movie and frustrated. I asked them if they were going to do anything else apart from just saying "sorry" and reversing the amount for the cup? They said no- I responded that they must not have had much customer training to not offer some kind of compensation after causing us to waste 10 mins and get frustrated after catching their "mistake" (it was never identified whether it was intentional, have caught Ster Kinekor service staff "accidentally" charging for large smarties when small of are ordered etc...) They didn't offer any kind of recompense for the time wastage and frustration...

My girlfriend and i went to Ster Kinekor at Carnival Mall on 18/11/2017 the 19h30 show Wind River. There were only about 8 coupies in the movie we left the movie as it finished. After driving for a while she realized that here purse and cell phone was missing.
I retuned to the cinema went thru it and could not find anything as i walked out of the cinema a cleaning lady was standing there and I asked her for the manager she asked why I want to see manager and I told her the purse and cell phone is missing out of the handbag of my girlfriend.
I told her again i want to see manager she asked me then how does the purse look I told her en then she asked me how does the cellphone look, sshe then told me she has picked up the purse and went into the cleaning room I walked in after her and she took it out beneath some bags and paper in the store room I opened it and the money were gone but the cards was still there the phone she said she did not see why did she asked me then for a description if she didnt pick up the fone? I got hold of manager and told her I then asked what is the procedure if staff pick something up in movie and she said they must hand it in at her office. When I asked the lady that picked it up why didnt she hand it in she could not answer me and looked very guilty I misplaced there names but the manager was also a black lady. Hoping to here from you soon

My boyfriend booked tickets for me, him and my son to watch Thor IMAX. We were denied access because my son is 10yrs but the age restriction is PG13 which means parental guidance for under 13yr. Also a younger child was let in with his family. And our tickets weren't refunded, comps were given which are cheaper than IMAX and IMAX glasses taken which were paid for already. So essentially we were treated unfairly, the age restriction is not understood by staff/manager and we were overcharged. This is unacceptable.

Going to the movies with your family is no longer a cheap night out...yet we have to put up with the sad state of our cinema.
At our Sterkinekor we have to put up with bad service (and no use complaining, manager just as bad most of the time).
Crunchy fresh popcorn (that costs a fortune) is something of the past...I think they pop the popcorn once in the morning...by 20:00 in the evening rather do without.
Movie house seats are dirty, carpets dirty..
Toilets smell like urine, very often no toiletpaper, doors don't lock, can't flush.
We have quite a big mall with a lot of movie goers...WHY oh WHY don't Sterkinekor do something...begin with some type of upgrade.
Correct staff that keep a handle on things like tbe bathrooms will also go a long way to make the experience more pleasant.
Cashless system is a disaster... Discriminates against those who carry cash. Dropped off kids to watch a movie and some kids only had cash...what they supposed to do wonder the mall like mall rate...it's shocking and won't be coming back until they allow for cash transactions.

The Complaint was a few weeks ago I was so dissapointed to have seen what is ongoing in the Grove Mall in Windhoek Namibia. I was such a regular movie goer, but I moved from Whk to the farm.
(I) why do pensioners don't get discount during week mornings?
(II) only 1 employer at ticketing and snack shop
(III) NO SODA'S! Only 1 size popcorn to buy! 2 sweets to buy
(IV) dirty bathrooms
when I ask her to go and buy soda outside she said no and when I ask her to fill the Large Popcorn only 1/2 as we wanted a medium she was so rude
when I ask about the sweets she said they are waiting for them from SA!
WHAT? Do you know we have Wholesalers in Namibia! SERIOUSLY!
We had such a great morning in the Grove Mall untill we enter Ster Kinekor what is going on I understand little staff during morning hours but seriously just sort the rest of the problems out this is not difficult.
I will be at the movies on the week and this time I will take Picture and Video's and post them online and FB

Today, 29 october 2017, my husband and I had the very worst cinema experience! We went to see the last word at 12h00 in rosebank. So the lights remained on for the full duration. My husband went to complain to the manageress. Guess what? They only managed to switch off the lights 5minutes before the end. But it get's worse! The aircon was on freezing. We went to complain... Nothing was done. At the end I spoke to thuli and asked for tumi the manager who was not there. She gave me his phone number and I called. He said he would have to check the temperature room. Unbelievable? The man is is not there and instead of offering compensation for sitting in siberia ie freezing temperature, he says he will have to check. I suggested he supply new movie tickets for another movie but he was not at all forthcoming. This was a shocking waste of time and money and sterkinekor should do better

What a terrible experience today has been. Firstly I could not book tickets using your app because it was unable to connect to cinema. I finally do it via contact centre. When collecting at the cinema the chaos began. Long queue and no one to help as systems are slow and unresponsive. The popcorn counters, the staff are making up boxes and unpacking stock. I received change of R37 in R1 coins? No change, surly staff. Horrible horrible experience. Where is the management and order. Why is prep nor actioned in quiet times?

Last night my boyfriend and I went to your Brooklyn theatre to watch "IT". We had been excitedly waiting to watch the movie since news that it was to be released. We bought tickets for the 20:30pm movie and as we were watching a huge interference happened around the middle section of the movie. Someone begun smoking a cigarette in cinema as they thought that because it was so empty they could get away with it. However a family from the first row of the cinema got upset and shone a cell phone light down over the chairs to see who could be smoking. And proceeded to say "whoever is smoking this isn't a smoking zone please stop." The person continued to smoke and so the audience asked one more time.
As this happened an african lady in the lower chairs of the cinema stood up and turned upwards and begun to shout "black people don't smoke I'm not smoking." No one replied to her. She contiuned to call the audience swear words like "[censor]ers" and "mother [censor]ers". Please note that the cinema is completely dark when movies are taking place and it is not clear what race anyone is. Besides this fact, no one had accused her of smoking - the statement was directed to the general audience - whomever was smoking. She carried on swearing at everyone for about 3 minutes. Telling us that "this is her land" and that "just because we have a fancy phone with a light it doesn't mean we can shine it one her and accuse her of smoking."
She also went on to say "this isn't white peoples land this is our land and we will take it back." A whole lot of threats came about "you'll see what we are gonna do, we will take our land back." She threatened a lot and swopped between english and african language the entire time. The audience eventually started "shhhhing" her in attempt to continue the movie.
As things became even more heated she proceed to chase her children who looked about age 9-11 out. There were three of them.
Please note that IT is a 16 rated movie, how did those children get into an adult film? Under the supervision of your brooklyn staff? To save herself she sent them out. Everyone started commenting about the fact that her children were in to movie.
Eventually the manger came in to sort the problem out. He had the movie paused where the lady continued to point at the 3 innocent individuals behind her calling them "idiots and fools" saying that they were smoking. Secruity then removed those three people. The women proceeded shouting and swearing. She called the audience racist and said the accusation was because she was black. Her husband also got involved saying "you whites must go back to Bangladesh." He continued to swear as well and be racist.
The manager, staff and secruity did absolutely nothing about this. 15-20 minutes of our movie was wasted. The spoke to her and more dramatic swearing occured in an african language which no one understood.
My question is why wasn't she thrown out? She was protected and happily continued as was. She was the problem and 3 innocent people (who were indian race) were thrown out?
My boyfriend and I insisted on a refund. Ourselves and other white families and audience left the theatre and didn't continue to watch.
Where the tickets are booked in the movie section was a huge secruity crowd around the 3 individuals. The one individual had admitted to vaping but said he stop when he was asked and apologised. The arguments got violent and my boyfriend went to try break it up. The women who'd cursed so viciously at everyone walked out with her husband and 3 children continuing to chirp remarks as she did so.
We got a refund and a letter from the manager because we insisted on it. But the injustice that happened at the ster-kinekor last night was unacceptable. We pay good money for GOOD SERVICe. It was a racial conflict and your staff didn't assist and resolve the matter fairly.
movie theatre was dirty
My family of five went to watch movies at Ster Kinekor Gateway on Saturday night 30/092017. We booked tickets for the 8:15pm show and when we got into the cimema to our utter disgust the cimema was dirty and had popcorn tubs and cooldrink all over the floors and seats. People were tripping over these things to get to their seats. It was absolutely filthy so my husband called one of the guys that worked there. He came and had a look and then we thought he went to call the cleaners but never came back. I was totally disgusted because I never experienced that at Nu Metro. Their cinemas are always so neat and clean. I will never visit another Ster Kinekor theatre again. You charge us so much for a ticket but yet expect us to watch movies under those disgusting conditions! Totally disgusted at Ster Kinekor always thought you were provided the superior service but I guess not. I am better off at Nu Metro.

We have been watching movies last night and again tonight at Vaal Ster Kinekor at the Vaal Mall. I had to complain both nights that the air conditioning in the cinemas is not working. It was absolute torture to watch movies there and everybody in the cinemas was sweating. What a waste of money it was. Fire the management as there is no management there in any case!
money deducted no booking
I booked tickets last week and the monet was deducted from my account only to be told there is no booking. After one of the staff at the movie house called customer service, I was told to rebook tickets and email customer service on monday for a refund. Ive done that sent them my proof on my bank statement. They send me a reply today after I sent a mail requesting a response. Thanking me for taking the time to mail then... Seriously... And my funds will be paid 10 to 14 working days... Are the [censor] crazy... Its already a week today so I have to wait another 2 weeks for my money... The worst is they dont apologise neither do they make any gesture of compensating me for the trouble they caused.
What pisses me off more now is that they didnt think to just give me comps so I could go into the movies instead I had to pay another r246...
Ster kinekor your service sucks... Worst is.. Your being allowed to get away with it.
The funds was deducted in a minute... I have to wait 3 weeks...
