mobile deposit app
Nightmare!!! I switched from a local bank to TD bank for the so-called "convenience" HAHAHA what a joke!!! I have a disability that limits my mobility. The reason I switched to TD bank was because I could use my mobile device to deposit checks of any amount. I was told by multiple TD reps that I could use my mobile phone to make deposits for any amount when...

credit card
I have daughter in Canada and travel to see her approximately every two months. I opened a TD Bank checking account and credit card because I mistakenly believed that TD's connections to Canada would facilitate any cross-border financial issues. Not only is that not the case, but TD Bank deactivates my card whenever I use it in Canada. This has lead to enormous inconveniences and has created very negative experiences for me and my daughter. I have had notes put the account about my frequent trips to Canada, and I have called customer service ahead of time and let them know the exact dates of my travel plans, yet still the card is deactivated every time, sometimes leaving me in very difficult and embarrassing situations. TD brands itself as America's "most convenient bank, " but this could not be further from the truth. They will not tolerate the slightest risk to their own accounts, and will err on the side of inconveniencing the customer. This has been, by far, the most negative experience I have ever had with any business or bank. I have no intention of ever using their services again, and will be closing my accounts as soon as I can make alternative arrangements. If you are considering using TD Bank because you are an American with connections to Canada or vice verse, I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
debit card fraud
Our TD bank Visa number was stolen. We reported it immediately to the bank as soon as we realized. Customer service told us it would be 3 days to resolve, it is now 6 weeks later. Every time we give them what they ask for they ask for something else. What they will not give us is the copies of the receipts from the transactions. They want our local police department to review the tapes from the stores and gas stations where the crimes occurred. Not sure how they can do that when they don't have a timeframe. We also created a time line based on receipts that we had and google maps, card was being used at the same time 60-70 miles apart. Not sure how that is physically possible unless it was a FRAUDULENT CARD. My personal favorite was we were told there were no false pin attempts used. when they create the card they create the pin number, they weren't using my pin number they were using the one they created, how can you hold that against me?
Company is called Toronto dominion bank but they are actually in many cities in canada.
Instead of making all these lies about how you are victims of credit card fraud, why not admit the truth, that you overspent and do not have enough money to pay your bill. If you were innocent you would have no issue with them going to the police to resolve this issue. It is quite clear that you used your own credit card and are trying to claim someone is using it. You are angry because they saw through your lies.
overdraft fees drain accounts
I nearly committed suicide today because i cannot take it anymore. My husband earns five thousand a month, and i earn at least three thousand, yet we are constantly penniless because td bank steals our money! Trust me, we are not uneducated. I have my doctoral degree. I know how to balance a freaking checkbook! It doesn't' matter what i do, or how much money i believe i have (And i truly do not spend much, only on necessities, such as groceries, gas, the electric bill, etc.) no shopping in this house! No gambling. No drinking, even. All i do is work 7 days a week, for real, and yet i have to collect pennies and quarters from my kids to have any money to spend. Why? Td bank rips us off. No matter what we do, no matter what the balance says on the screen, td bank finds a way to steal from us - - at least tw) thousand in fees a month. This is criminal. I want to see this bank closed by the police. Someone has to stop these criminals. Customers cannot even close their accounts!
"I have my doctoral degree."
Then why can't you understand the terms of your account that you agreed to?
"I know how to balance a freaking checkbook!"
If you are getting hit with OD fees, you clearly do not.
Ya, right.
Something doesn't seem right here. $2, 000 per month in fees? What does the bank say the fees are for?
It might be helpful to contact your Conressman's office and request assistance from them in pressuring the bank to sort this out.
multiple problems
Let me start by saying I have had this bank for over 9 years and it's been through many changes, all of which benefited them, not their customers. Back in October, I used my Debit/Visa to sign up for Sirius/XM, thinking it would be a one time trial, and I wanted to cancel after the trial period (which I tried-but that's another post), BUT, when I used my debit card, the expiration date was 12/2014. I figured that way, when they tried to renew, the charge would be declined. BUT IT WASN'T, and when I complained, they basically told me that it's my problem, I gave them the Card Number so they can charge whatever they want, when they want, so if I wasn't in agreement to that, I should cancel my card and order a new one. WHAT? Fast forward 2 weeks, I use my new card @ a store in PA (15 miles from my home) and it was denied - the bank said Visa denied all out of state charges. AGAIN, WHAT? Visa categorically denying any out of state charges is absurd. They assured me it would not happen again and that all is well. Then we have today, when I presented my Visa for payment of $82 (knowing the account balance is over $1200) and I was denied AGAIN. Why? "I don't know" was the standard bank answer. Well, I am now done with TD BANK. And their lousy customer service.
they took my money
I signed up with td bank about 2 weeks ago and left town the following week I will be out of town for about a year or two so I had my girlfriend go make my deposit for me and made sure she asked will I have any problems accessing my money they said no and took the deposit as soon as she made it they blocked access to it I called customer service to tell them my situation and told them I will not be able to go to one of there branches they told me there's nothing they can do unless I go in I told them that's not a posibility because I'm out of town for a year or so and they said there's nothing they can do they basically taking my money I have kids to feed I worked hard for that money and for them to jus take it no I'm not having it I will not stop untell I get justice because that isn't right
TD Bank screwed me too but they only charged me money for an account I never activated - then when I refused to pay the lousy $37 for an account I never had money in and never used they reported my account as overdrawn to Chex Systems which prevents me from getting another bank account! Screw TD Bank - customer service? what is that?
tricky business practices
TD BANK AND ROBBINS BROTHERS WORK TOGETHER TO SCAM CUSTOMERS. Robbins Brother Dallas TX tricked us. We bought a beautiful ring from Robbins Brothers with zero percent. If you do not pay off the total ring at the end of the 0% then they add interest on the ring. And I mean interest. The Interest totaled $6, 000 dollars. AND YOU HAVE TO PAY THIS INTEREST NO MATTER WHAT. Even if you pay off the ring today...it does not matter. You will pay the full interest. Well they neglected to tell us this information. They just tell you that it is zero percent. They scammed us! They were not open or truthful. They never told us this information. They tricked us. Do not buy from Robbins Brothers! They are tricking people. I cannot believe they think this is ok to do to newly married people or anyone. Honestly I will keep re-posting this information everywhere.
Robbins Brothers took the time to explain the situation and the loan. They worked with me and the situation was resolved. The went above and beyond and i am very happy.
sneaky fees and liars
TD bank assesses fees for any balance below 100$. They sneakily charged me a dollar for a paper mailing of my account that left me account below the limit and was charged 40 dollars in combined fees. When I complained they refunded the fees and apologized stating it would not happen again. Yesterday I was told my account was in overdraft for 50 dollars .. When I asked why, they said "another fee" had been assessed the same day as my original complaint, even though I was assured it would not happen again. My account has been slowly bled dry by 15 dollars a month.. so I complained again.. they agreed to refund half of the fees, leaving me with $48. SO they get to steal 60 dollars from me when I closed the account rather than put my self at risk any further. DO not do business with these crooks. SCAMMERS
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Most accounts charge fees unless you keep a minimum balance in them... This would be your fault for not knowing what you have set up when you opened the account.
Sounds like you only had to keep $100 in your account to avoid fees? Bank of America and Wells Fargo require $1500. Seems you have to spend every penny of your money every month? Your lack of money is the banks fault?
unauthorized purchase
I filled out a 30 day free trial service on the Internet on 9/2/14 that would be $29.95 a month after the free trial period. On 9/10/14 my account was "overdrawn". I had checked my balance on 9/9/14 and it was $20.43. It stated that the $29.95 was pending. I had made 2 other purchases that day. One purchase of $9.00 and another of $10. I went to my branch and their response to my issue when I asked them to deny the purchase of $29.95 and bring my account back to date, was "I'm sorry. But we can't help you. It's on pending status and even though you are requesting to decline the purchase, I can't be sure you didn't receive a product. And since you made 2 more purchases, you will be charged $105.00 in overdraft fees if you don't have this cleared up with the service company by tomorrow". I spoke with the teller and branch supervisor and they said there is NOTHING they could do to help me resolve this issue. What happened to "We are here for you" Or "Whatever you need we will resolve every issue you may have". I chose to do business with TD Bank because I believed I would be treated with respect. The tellers and the supervisor made me feel as though my issues are not important. The supervisor basically called me a liar when I told him time and again that the purchase was NOT AUTHORIZED. I called the service company, (ScoreScence) and submitted a cancelation. # [protected] done at 3:45 pm on 9/10/14. I spoke with Judy who also advised me that it's up to Corporate Billing to decide if I will get my $29.95 refund. So, not only is my "trusted bank...TD Bank" robbing me but the company that offered a 30 day free trial. I may not have thousands in the bank, but I should still be treated with the same respect as any other monthly fee paying TD Bank customer. I was robbed without a gun by the TD Bank.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
OK, it looks like your complaint should not be with the bank.
You are asking them to refund money for something that they have no way of knowing if it is a actual charge.
My suggestion to you is to NOT get into these situations by NOT giving out your account info for things that you might not be able to pay for.
I know that you feel it was a FREE 30 day trial but companies that offer these trials often have conditions like...
"WE WILL BILL YOU WITHIN 10 DAYS FOR NEXT MONTHS SHIPMENT"
I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem but it is not the Banks fault.
mortgage refi
Just a heads up if you are considering a refi with TD bank on an older home. (50% LTV ratio; 800+ credit score; decent salary) You get lured in with pre-approval and no detailed list of requirements. The appraiser walks up, looks at some peeling paint, and says TD won't close the loan. You pay for the full appraisal ($$). TD bank sends a letter saying you need to pay for a lead inspection (which to my understanding the bank uses to confirm it won't close on your older painted home because it has lead paint like most original homes older than 1960) You offer to escrow the paint costs, they decline. They send a letter reminding you of other fees you need to pay. Other than that, everyone was nice enough.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
won't release wire transfers
They are sitting on a wire claiming that the sending bank never sent them the information they requested when the sending bank has now sent them the information 2x. Each time I call I hear a different story from "what wire..we don't see any record of a wire" to claiming they made requests for information from the sending bank on different dates from what I heard in the last phone call. They don't let you speak to their wire department directly so you have to relay your communication through (an often incompetent) customer service representative. I have a simple business checking account and couldn't imagine expanding my services with them when they are this incompetent on such a basic transaction.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
15 days waiting for the funds to get into the receivers account! absolutely DISGUSTED ! they omitted all kinds of account information and still cant get it right...TD should stay out of the BANKING business...I will be closing all my accounts and changing banks! UNBELIEVABLE!
I have TRIED to send the Son Funds MANY times to His TD BANK., but they KEEP BLOCKING him from getting those FUNDS. My Computer is Now Sitting outside in the SNOW as I thru it thru the Window because I got tried of TRYING to send Funds to his ACCOUNT. Time I use another Bank that WILL let him Pick his funds UP !
wire money
TD Bank did deposit a wire money around $2800 in my account by their mistake and let me know about that after a month! When I knew about that I tried my best to cooperated and pay back as soon as possible.
However, I have not heard about wire money or banks may do deposit money in customers account by mistake since I immigrated to Canada! I was not aware if the money in my account has came from somewhere else than the companies I was working for. Never the less I was expecting for same amount from one of companies I was Working for.
However, I tried very hard to pay back the money to TD Bank based on my financial situation and TWO TIMES per month but they asked me to pay based on their opinion not my budget. I was threatened to send me to the collection office and they did not cooperate and sent my file to the collection office.
I sent an e mail to the Ombudsmen office and asked them to let me pay back the money based on my income directly to the TD Bank and not asking me to contact the number that I called already and just got threatened, then, I received a letter from District Vice President, Toronto, GTA Region David James apologizing me for the inconvenience and again asking me to call MJR Collection that I did request not throwing me to them again.
At the end, they sent me to the different collection office just because I was not rich enough to pay back money based on the TD Banks level of services!
All the documents are available.

Shahnaz
theft
We briefly opened an account at TD Bank, and all was well until my husband accidentally paid a bill with a check from the account, when he should have used a check from a different account. If the check had bounced I would have understood-our mistake. If the check had cleared and we were charged an overdraft - fine, our mistake and that is fair. What is NOT fair or ethical is what happened to us. They randomly reordered over twelve debit card transactions from days before (that were all covered by cash in our account), adding late fees as they went, even kicking some out and allowing them to come back and charging a new late fee! We were charged nearly $400 in these fees. It's absolutely unconscionable, and one of the many ways the poor get poorer in our society. I am perfectly willing to pay what is fair for our mistake, but to take one mistake and turn it into 12 is beyond the pale, and nothing but theft. NEVER bank with TD Bank.
I apologize - that should be overdraft fees, not late fees. @Champion - I accept my mistake for insufficient funds on ONE transaction. It is highly unethical for them to reorder transactions, hold up deposits, etc, so they can push your account into overdraft and draw as many fees as possible. @Fred - thank you. That's my plan. :-)
My account had insufficient funds for my very last transaction. The others had occurred two or more days previous and were all covered. It is highly unethical to use one insufficient funds transaction to reorder charges to make it seem as if there were insufficient funds previously, and you know it. Other banks do NOT engage in this practice. TD already had to pay out a massive $67 million settlement for their fraudulent practices, and I suspect they will be sued again.
If you decide to switch banks, make sure you unenroll/opt out of the feature that allows debit card purchases to overdraft. TD Debit Card Advance feature will charge you for each overdraft item that POSTS(very important, posting is different than pending) to your account. This means anything that was authorized on the card prior when funds were available that POSTS later and overdrafts will cause a fee. If you opt out of the TDDCA, debit card purchase will get declined when funds are not available, and purchases that were authorized when funds were available (not including recurring transactions) will not cause fees. Also checks and direct debits can still be paid, which are usually the more important things. Take note - MOST BANKS DO HAVE THIS FEATURE BUT CALL IT A DIFFERENT NAME. Always review overdraft policies with any bank to make sure it is right for you!
You are right, the bank is wrong. I thought the reordering of transactions that happened on different days had already been outlawed. Legal or not, it is still wrong. If the bank won't fix it, complain to every government agency you can find until you get satisfaction.
consumerfinance.gov is one. Each state also has a consumer protection office.
worker cheating
I bought a co-ownership apartment . Nathan Chow gave me pre-approvement. But he couldn't gave the money on closing day. i almost lost my deposit $10000. He put me in very hard time. Finally . i borrowed money from my friend. i had to closing day extantion. It cost $600 more. i asked this from him. he said ok . He said after you sign a letter. i will give it to you. But after i sent the form to him. He won't deposit money to my account . He cheat me again. Why do you TD 's staff like this?
scam
I have had nothing but great experiences with TDBank. However, the company that services their credit cards is a joke! They claim you get cash rewards. Which they list on your statement. BUT, there is no way to use or receive the rewards or the cash, unless you call customer service. Which goes like this : you have to listen to a two and a half minute auto program, then choose "talk to someone" ; which puts you into another auto program where you can then choose "talk to someone" again, and then you get to talk to someone. Or, i should say, listen to someone...try to sell you something. "...well, Mr. Banks, thanks for calling. I'm sorry you are having an issue with your credit card. But i have great news!..." ( then they launch into a monologue in an attempt to sell you something. ) Of course, this is all spoken in extremely broken English. So i will just pay off the bill and lose the $35.00 cash "rewards". What a joke.
bank did not dispute charges when wallet was stolen
I can no longer trust and do business with TD Bank. Over two weeks ago, I called and reported my wallet stolen, and said there were charges on the account that I didn't make. I called a second time a day later to say I noticed more charges that I didn't make. Ok, will take care of it, 9 times out of 10 it's reimbursed to your account. I finally called today to see what the delay is, and they tell me over the phone that there is no record in the system of me calling, no record of the charges and no disputes were filed.
Natually, I was livid. I got the usual I don't care but it's my job to listen speech, and when I asked if they could expedite the process, the manager I spoke to wouldn't budge an inch. I'm going to get a copy of the police report and really make them feel about as intelligent as a bag of rocks and make sure I get a copy of any transmittal or sending of the report to whomever is supposed to get it. Then I'm going to ask an in-brance manager what they're going to do for me as a customer for this eggregious error. If nothing will be done, as soon as my account is credited, I'll go in person and close the account, and make sure to talk loudly so everyone in the bank can hear me.
Completely unacceptable. I got the "Sorry you feel that way" cr*p from the manager on the phone. I'm going to go and complain as much as I can and make them look as bad as they are. I can't wait to open a new account with a better bank.
Banks just excuse my french try to pull your pants down and make you suck your own dick.
careless and inapt
TD is very careless in judging its client and employee. I'm so sorry to say it. Because of their small careless action, my life siffered a lot. I came in Canada as an international student, finished study and started to work with TD. I'm socially very active and post some writings on international politics on Facebook. TD didn't like even though it has nothing to do with TD nor anything with Canada. It was a local newspaper of a 3rd world country, the language of the newspaper even not English. On the comment section online, I just posted certain comment with the culture and attitude of that country. There is nothing to do with TD nor Canada nor USA. Just because of that they fired me. I'm even new in Canada and I do not much know here the standards. I came in government scholarship for a bright future. But all TD did is not only fired me but also informed all other financial institutions that I'm a potential threat or terrorist in Canada. After that, I got job offer from Royal Bank, Scotiabank, all of them at the backgorund check step withdrew their offer simply because when they checked with TD, TD informed them all those things about me. I'm totally an innocent person, facebook is just for fun and I made some fun comments there. It made my life extreme difficult. They even reported to government unit and for that intilligence even had met with me several times. before i gave my employment histroy with other places I even checked with TD human resources, they promised me that they do not release any confidential info to anyone; yet they mutually share it. I became mentally and psychologically extreme sick and lost my trust in Canada. And today, I received letter from TD even they cancel my checking account, credit card with them. i would request the TD corporate to be more sincere about judging. Because this inapt action, my life became difficult everywhere. I don't know where is my next employment. I would love TD very much but now there is nothing more than TD that I hate. TD has no right to spoil my life and my future career. At least they should tell me that they will share it with others in that case I wouldn't give TD in my work history. I am being an innocent young graduate was trying to build my life; but TD's careless judgement on people made my life dark. All that I have is, i trust in God and God will judge it.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
It's not about judging. You can loose ANY job for posting on FB. If your morals expressed go against the morals the company needs to have their employees perceive... you can get fired. Depending on what you wrote or posted, this information would have gone into a database controlled by the bank of Canada. A background check will reveal this. A background check does no involve checking w previous employers. You are responsible for what you post, anywhere, and anyone can turn you in. This is how so many teachers and principals are losing their jobs right now. Nothing is private and stays on the internet forever.
