Tech Liquidators - MSRP markup, missing items on my last two orders.
MRSP is marked way up on the pallets I purchased. They say something is $800 when you can go to the manufacturer site and it's on $649 and that retail not on sale or clearance. Imagine doing that hundreds of times and then they make a large profit becuase the pallet sold at 40% the price of retail but in reality you really paid like 60% for salvage...

Bait and switch fraud company
I have been purchasing for many years and have come to the conclusion their business model is to defraud hard working honest businesses and individuals. TechLiquidators is owned by Best Buy and managed by the largest fraud company Optoro. They market completely destroyed electronics and products (need to be recycled by law) as "Used Like New". For their...

Always check each pricing especially items priced high and compare with the market… I found that some items that are retailing say, for $299 are being marked up to as high as $900 & above. By doing so, Techliquidators are falsely stating the MSRP by thousands of $$$. You will also see line items that say “MOCK ITEM DO NOT SELL” and the price will always be $9,999.00! I have seen this on multiple multiple multiple auctions!
Desired outcome: N/a

Fraudulent sale
I purchased two TV's from a black Friday sale for 429.00 each from TECH LIQUIDATORS which is a BESTBUY owned company so I felt comfortable making the two purchases online on 11/262021 from an advertisement on Facebook after that I received the two order numbers but I never got any Tracking information so on 11/29/2021 I emailed them asking when my TV's would be shipped out and they said no later than 12/3/2021 came and went and still nothing I tried making contact with TECH LIQUIDATORS by phone I called all three phone numbers and they were all invalid [protected]
[protected]) 310 -5083...I sent several emails and no response. Then the email link that was used for the sale was removed which was
TECHLIQUIDATORSWAREHOUSE.COM
So I called BESTBUY and still no resolve

Tv purchase
I purchased a tv online on 11/27/21. Website said item would ship within 1-3 business days UPS, and I would receive an email with tracking information as soon as it shipped. It's 12/07/21 still no information. I sent 3 email messages requesting an update. No response. Tried calling [protected] and it says it out of service. The address I have is Tech liquidators inc. 1033 Airtex drive Houston TX 77073. I'm beginning to think that I was scammed.
Desired outcome: For my item to be delivered. If not refund my money.

product
I purchased 18,000 dollars worth of electronics that were listed as Grade A. I received watches that were defective and tablets that were unusable. I've been purchasing from them for almost a decade. The quality is gone from good to deceptive to now downright lying about the condition of the product. I've attempted to get resolution none so far! It's already been a couple of months!
gross misrepresentation of items to drive up price
I purchased a lot for $17.5k of digital cameras in Grade C - Working condition, however when I received them several of them wouldn't turn on or would get errors during use. In addition, every single camera was stripped of all accessories and any removable parts as well as essential components such as the batteries (which would cost $3-4k to replace).
I contacted a service rep from TechLiquidators and they told me despite the auction stating working and functional condition that it was part of their policy that no returns were allowed even if the products didn't work. They did agree to have me return the items and after having the entire lot back in their possession for 3 weeks with limited communication, they stated the ones they tested were found to be functional.
They told me that despite the auction stating "Some may or may not include original packaging and accessories."; that none of their auctions regardless of grade would ever include any accessories. This was another example of how they mislead customers into bidding.
I have purchased on the secondary markets many times and I have never dealt with a company that appears to purposely be misrepresenting its lots to drive the price up in this way. After speaking with a Best Buy representative assigned to this case, it appears Best Buy is aware of the way these items are marketed and see nothing wrong with it. Very sad for a company that I shopped at regularly and once held in high esteem.
I would not recommend this company at all. They have no ethics or duty towards honesty with their customers. They made zero attempt to work towards a resolution. I have taken the issue up with my credit card company and the Better Business Bureau.
Listing prices
Hi
I've noticed several listings in the used and refurbished categories that list the EST. MSRP at above the manufacturer NEW price. This is not the first time I've noticed this. It normally happens when the lot involves high ticket items like phones and tablets. I am bringing this up because I have on several occasions wanted to bid on lots but like any non silly person, I do my due diligence and look up the profit margin before bidding on any lot. So when I see something like this which is an instant loss I can't imagine who the customer is. I am not sure if Techliquidator is not aware of this or if they are aware and don't care. But I would like some clarity on this issue. A quick search on the internet reveals the NEW price of Samsung GalaxyS6 Plus to be around $575 but tech liquidators list theirs for $949 refurbished. The whole point of liquidation is to buy at below market price and resell for a profit so this is counter to that system. If TL wipes out all possible profits, who do they expect to bid on the site?
fraud/cherry picking
Ihave done a lot of research on "Tech Liquidators" a Best Buy company. Here's what anyone considering of using them as a source of merchandise needs to know! All of the pallets/truckloads/small lots are 100% cherry picked loads. How do I know this? Its really quite simple... If you take notice as to where their warehouses providing these goods are located you will notice that these locations also serve their other websites that retail individual USED/RETURN items. Such as Cowboom.com and Dealtree.com also bestbuy has a private auction site for ONLY employees and vendors which specifically states that this site offers quality USED/RETURN items. Cowboom specifically deals in used/return items that STILL FUNCTION everything else goes to Techliquidators.com.
For example, their warehouse in Chino, CA serves all of these sites which you can look up on either site. So this made me question something listed in the auctions on techliquidators.com where it says that the items have not been tested? If thats so then how do they know what to sell and what not to sell on Cowboom.com? The answer is simple. They test all of these items! The fully functional items are listed on cowboom.com and dealtree (which is part of bestbuy's ebay store) the items that partially work (and in dire physical condition) are listed as USED/RETURNS on techliquidators.com and SOLD AS-IS so you have 0 recourse and the completely useless junk is listed as salvage (dont believe how they say you can make a working unit from a few broken ones these items are literally scrap metal) on techliquidators.com.
Also dont get caught up with their refurbished stuff either, after speaking with one of their representitives he told me that refurbished does not mean the item actually works and that it may just have some refurbished accessories or has been cosmetically refurbished but still may not function..WHAT?!?! lol thats what i said! To myself refurbished means that the item is tested (which it says on the site!)and 100% operational but according to them that is not the case, besides IF THE ITEM DID WORK IT WOULD BE BEING SOLD ON ONE OF THEIR 3 OTHER SITES for second hand products.
In my opinion the risk is not worth a reward that doesnt exsist to think a couple days ago i was about to purchase a 286, 000 dollar load ( which is an extremely high msrp for what was offered)for 53000 dollars lol thank god I didnt. I actually priced out the whole load on Ebay (item by item) and the actual current value of the items in used condition was 82, 362 dollars which assumes all items work perfectly! Also their rep. told me that you should only expect 50% of the items to work on the USED/RETURNS loads and that would be on a good load!
I feel bad for the person who won that one. You must understand that when you buy something on Techliquidators.com you are not buying 2nd hand returns that will have a decent working to not working ratio, you are buying items that didn't qualify to be sold on their other websites (which means they were not fully functional) and if you see the items being sold on those sites (which they are in rough shape) just imagine what you are going to get from techliquidators.com! I cant wait to see the cookie cutter response from techliquidators.com trying to save face!
While the offer description with the items for sale, in the fine print, Best Buy states that they are not responsible if items are not as described. I don't feel that gives latitude to give misleading descriptions.
Fraud
I'm writing this complaint with the only goal to alert others not to fall to their false advertisment.
I bought more than one auction from them, under the category 'Used/Return'. In a phone conversation with them, they said that I should expect some 80% to be working.
Well, the auction of TVs had every single one defective. They tried to explain that maybe they broke during transportation, I told them that they have stickers that mention the problem in each, thus they have been inspected by Best Buy.
The second auction was 80 rc helicopters, each single one is defective. Also this batch had that written on every sticker, and it mentioned the defective part even (motor, blade, controller, ...)
Beware, don't fall into this scam. They only sell defective item. Do your due diligence, and read about what others have been through.

Missing Merchandise
I purchased two lots of electronics from Techliquidators. Both lots were missing items. The first lot was supposed to have an Asus Tablet. This item was missing. The packaging for the tablet was open in the top of a large box with the owners manual and the charger hanging out. It had obviously been stolen. The second lot was supposed to have an Amazon Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire was not there either. Theft is a HUGE problem with this company. Do NOT expect any of the main items on the manifest to be in your lots. All of the junk items were in my lots but the High dollar consumer electronics were missing. It is because these items are small enough for their employees to steal. I emailed the company about my missing Items and was told that it was normal to be missing items. Here is a copy of TechLiquidators response to my email:
Dear Michael,
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. Unfortunately I do need to point out or terms. Each time you log into Tech Liquidators you agree to our terms. In section 3 of the Terms of Service under waiver of Detail Receipt we explain that the manifest on the auction is simply an estimate of the items that will be received. Many times youll receive more items then we list and sometime you will receive less. Its the nature of liquidation. Just to keep the playing field fair we generally have a +/- variance.
Unfortunately we will not be able to offer any type of compensation for the missing items. Again. we apologize for any inconvenience.
If you have any further questions please reply to this email. We appreciate your business!
Thank you,
Joel

They state that many times you will receive more items than is on the manifest. I have ordered 6 lots ($25, 000) in the last 6 weeks and have never once received an extra item in any lot. As a matter of fact, every single lot I have received has been short. It is acceptable to be missing a few items from a lot, that is why I have not complained on previous lots.BUT these circumstances are a bit different, this was obviously THEFT and not a "variation"
BE WEARY OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! YOU WILL LOSE!

Fraud, Bait and Switch, Thieves
So much for trusting BEST BUY! Purchased a pallet of items from techliquidators.com for $3000. First, given FedEx tracking number and delivery date. No delivery on that day. Called FedEx, and was informed that TechLiquidators had contacted them and had the shipment redirected elsewhere. Called TechLiquidators, got a new tracking number and delivery date (now 3 weeks after auction ended and payment was made). Received pallet after 3 weeks of waiting, and 60% of inventory on was manifest missing. These are items that were shown in the pictures for the auction, but were not in the pallet I received. Most items that were received were missing core components and therefore non-functional. Items were listed as returns/not tested, so I would expect some to have issues, and others to be okay. Not the case. $2000 worth of inventory was never even shipped. The rest is basically garbage that I will have to pay to get rid of. Contacted TechLiquidators and I was informed that I should expect this with Returned items. They had no answer for the missing units, and claim that this should also be expected. What?
If you are considering making a purchase from Tech Liquidators, save your money and save yourself the headache. Try to find another outlet, because you will not get what is represented or what you pay for.

If you supply goods to the liquidation channel, then you are guilty of FRAUD. I recently purchased a ring that was supposed to be a "London Blue Topaz" on Sterling silver. It has been determined that the ring is GLASS & the silver part is in question also. I have all the original paperwork which clearly describes the lie & the glass ring. This is 100% of all I need to prove a case of FRAUD
They have offered me my money back, but...will not address the FRAUD issue at all. I am filing complaints everywhere, and I suggest that everyone that has been cheated to do the same.
Hello dontbuy,
We are truly sorry for the negative experience you have had. It is a great frustration for us when our customers do not have their expectations met.
Most of the concerns mentioned have been indirectly mentioned and addressed in previous threads. But a few additional comments will hopefully help keep the thread running on the right track.
While most of the concerns appears to be with missing or damaged items, we can simply say that, if your business cannot handle the risk of an "as-is" no returns sale, it is best to stick to New and Refurbished product on the website. TechLiquidators holds an "A" rating with the BBB, and communicate in plain English the straightforward terms of use for the TechLiquidators website. See BBB review of TechLiquidators: http://bit.ly/BBB-TechLiquidators
The TechLiquidators market does not work for all buyers. But for those who are able to navigate the risk, the profits have been so sustainable that we've been the primary source of thousands of small electronics wholesalers for years.
When we can identify a clear instance of missing items or items arriving in a condition significantly worse than listed on the website, we will almost always issue a partial refund.
With Used/Returned product, you are taking a 50/50 gamble. There are no guarantees about product cosmetic or operational condition: "In most cases, no testing or repairs have been attempted on the listed products. The packaging will be in various states including: opened, distressed and/or missing. There will be units that lack essential components, accessories and documentation. Used/Returns products most likely function or may retain some functionality from the original equipment manufacturers specifications."
With Salvage product, assume that none of it works. That is the definition of salvage Some of the components may work, but absolutely no testing has been done. The main value buyers find in this product is by stripping out parts from various units and reassembling them to build units or by using them to repair other units.
TechLiquidators is a liquidation channel that creates an efficient way for Best Buy to move secondary inventory out of the warehouse, while meeting a demand for wholesalers. We are completely transparent about product condition and the risk involved, but what may work for one buyer may not work for another, so we have to rely on our buyers to use cautious judgement in buying on TechLiquidators.
Because liquidation lots are huge and mixed, they are more prone to error. If you would like to continue to pursue a resolution, after reading understanding the terms you agreed to upon registration and the stated condition of the product purchased, please contact Customer Care and we will do everything we can to rectify the situation for you.

fraudulent descriptions
I have been buying auctions from Tech Liquidators for about a year. The first couple were very good but things have gone downhill consistently since then. The worst came from the Chino Ca. distributer.
What is happing is obvious fraud or theft. I have received multiple auctions with boxes tagged with the items listed on the manifest but containing a non-functioning different product or missing the core item. Many in original manufacture boxes, clearly not the same product listed on the tag and always a product of significantly less value. I recently received an auction of "Used / Returns" where the boxes of the top priced units contained non-functioning products of a similar model as that listed on the manifest, only the model is 8 years older AND a much lower priced model. In another auction, electronic items that smelled so bad when unwrapped I nearly threw up. You cannot tell me the person packaging these items did not know they were garbage. We have become the garbage disposal for Best Buy!
The only question is, are the employees substituting or stealing items and taking them home? Are the shipping companies substituting or stealing items? It is much more likely intentional fraud encouraged or ignored by top management.
When I complained I was told basically to suck it up, sighting section 3 of their terms and conditions.
The "AS-Is" clause in their documents suggests AS IS DESCRIBED! I agree. If I purchase and receive items that are "AS IS" DESCRIBED and I cannot make good use of them it is my problem but if I purchase and receive items that are clearly not "AS IS" DESCRIBED that is fraud and or theft. "AS-Is" does not give them legal right to steal and fraudulently misrepresent their products.
They will obviously continue this practice until enough us go bankrupt or otherwise stop buying their auctions or enough buyers turn them in to the Better Business Bureau. Then they will simply change the name of their operation and continue their scam. This scam is so obvious it astounds me and because there are so many unemployed people out there right now that are trying anything to make a living (me) and are willing to risk their savings to feed their family they will continue their cowardly theft.
I am gathering evidence (photos, documents and emails) to submit to the Better Business Bureau and will pursue this until I see Tech Liquidators and Best Buy downgraded and or prosecuted for fraud. I am also submitting this evidence to law enforcement to investigate the shipping companies because what I received was clearly not what is listed on the manifest. I encourage all to do the same. Those of us with legitimate complaints are enabling and encouraging theft and fraud if we do not turn this over to authorities.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I purchased a lot of laptop HDD, they claimed to be customer return, Onec i received the lot, about 2/3 of the lot, filled with broken HDD. and the rest of the lot, is working but with warning from the manufacture that it is going to fail soon. So I cannot use this lot and i just have to deal with it because it is as is. DO NOT BUY FROM TECH LIQUIDATOR EVER AGAIN !
Why not check into their 20+ Shill bidders who constantly bid the items up on the tech liquidators site to artificially inflate the prices...
Last time I checked, that was Illegal in all 50 states.

Be very wary of the "deals" listed on techliquidators.com
(1) they fail to state on the product detail pages that EVERYTHING they sell is sold AS-IS. If you buy items advertised as "Grade A" "Refurbished" "Fully Functional" and those products arrive to you and are all defective, there is NO RECOURSE, NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. Even after multiple requests, Techliquidators (AKA DealTree, AKA BestBuy) refuses to list this "AS IS" status on the product listings themselves. Instead, they bury them in their terms and conditions. If a product is sold with no warranty, it should be clearly labeled as such, not buried in 10 pages of terms and conditions. It seams pretty clear that Techliquidators does not list this AS-IS product condition on the products themselves in order to sell these items (auction format) for higher values than they would otherwise receive. We believe this is a clear case of false and misleading product advertising.
(2) Product manifest and quantities are not guaranteed. This means that if you buy 50 pieces of a product and you received 40 pieces - there is NO RECOURSE, NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. On each product page, the company lists a manifest of the items being sold. Once again, instead of listing this very important fact on the product details page, it is buried in a Terms and conditions page.
Both of these issues artificially inflate the selling prices of items since they are not clearly listed on the product pages.

I've purchased a few of their auctions from the Sheperdsville, KY location. What I am noticing is that their auctions listed as Used and Returns are accurate. But what they won't tell you is that I'm willing to bet half of the items from the manifest are from their trade-in services. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Electronics-Promotions/Online-Trade-In/pcmcat133600050011.c?id=pcmcat133600050011
Just go to the BestBuy.com website if you're not familiar with their trade in service. You take an old item that they sell, or used to sell, and then you trade it in for a gift card. You might get something, you might not. Anyway, I'm willing to bet they throw these trade ins to fill up 70% of the manifest to make it appear more attractive with the MSRP rates. You won't know until you actually get the auction. Upon inspection and first glance, everything looks like it's there. The retail boxes, properly packaged inside 24x24x24 type boxes. It's when you open the retail boxes and do your quality control that you'll start to see what I mean.
Don't get me wrong, maybe a tenth of the items are from 30 Day Customer Satisfaction returns, so these will still appear new. Some will have manufacturer defects, I'd say a good 20% of the entire manifest. So that 70% of the items are from customer trade-ins, 20% of the items are manufacturer defects (looks new but doesn't work), 10% are like new customer returns.
I've had a range of different items, from blown subwoofers to disgustingly used cordless phones. Whoever used these phones never washed their hands I tell ya. And I'm sure it's impossible to get so many scuffs and smudges in 30 days on a lot of their products so like I said, I'm willing to bet 70% of these items are from their customer trade-ins. Don't believe me? Buy one of these auctions and see for yourself. Way to go Best Buy, give away $5 Gift Cards for an item with an MSRP of $100, and charge a good 12-20% from all the customers who buy these auctions.
I can both agree and disagree. It's been real bad since they started the Kentucky warehouse over Flower Mound. Flower mound would ship right away and everything was always correct. I have ordered over $30, 000 in the last two months. 20% of the Return loads were actually salvage. 5 out of 8 Kentucky loads were shorted 1/3 of the manifest. I was credited the 1/3 I paid for the auction but does not help because it seems to be the best inventory missing. They do take care of their mistakes. For that the complaint is wrong. You cannot just do this part time and complain. It is work too and rarely goes smooth. Lately have been getting tracking numbers saying shipped and not being shipped for 3-4 days after. Lied to! costing lots of time. If organized could have sold and bought more auctions before ever even arrived. All probelms I believe go to Best Buy's execs for not understanding the wholesale industry. TIME IS MONEY! This they will never understand. If they did, shipping and organization would be better. If people could receive and sell faster, they would be ordering more and Techliquidators auctions would be going for more money. Everything they are doing is at about 50% of potential. Shorted inventory, fake tracking numbers, misleading retail manifests, etc. It's whoever is overseeing the whole thing that is horrible at their job and has no business sense. Just a paycheck!
For general reference, TechLiquidators holds an A+ rating with the BBB: http://bit.ly/BBB-Rating-TechLiquidators

Thank you for your concern. We apologize for any headache you may have had with our site.
We want to take the extra step to fully inform our customers, so we are already planning to add the "AS-IS" qualification to all the auction pages, just for extra transparency. In terms of our customer service, we are eager to do anything we can to help find a good resolution, so please contact us if there is anything we can do.
Our user and purchase agreement and our terms of service both state that all sales are AS-IS. - "This Website is provided on an "AS IS" and "as available" basis. Best Buy does not warrant that use of this Website will be uninterrupted or error-free." This is not buried in our terms; it is a very short document and it is in clear and plain English. (find it here: http://techliquidators.com/index.cfm/p/3/atb/7) In the User and Purchase Agreement, it is called out in bright red, bold & caps. (find it here: http://techliquidators.com/index.cfm/p/3/atb/6)
Lastly, we have changed our "tech grade" category to "salvage" in order to help clear up any confusion about what to expect in terms of product condition.
Thank you and again, we apologize for the negative experience you may have had with us and we hope we can continue to win your business.
