Roses
I purchased Roses in April 2022, and they were pitiful. They barely bloomed at all - nothing compared to the "rapid climbers with plenty of blooms first year" as they were described online. My wife called to complain that they weren't doing well, she was advised to give them a little more time. Now, it's April 2023 and all of her rose bushes are waking up and blooming except the 2 "cup of gold" rose bushes we bought from this awful company. When I emailed chstomer service, they refused to help as our order was shipped in spring and they only guarantee the roses through that summer. I had misread the policy and thought, as reputable online nurseries do, the guarantee was good until start of summer the following season. Nice of them to advise my wife to give the roses more time huh.
Desired outcome: Replacement
Roses
Ordered two roses this year. Both came and appeared dead. Sometimes it's hard to tell with bare root roses. I waited an appropriate length of time to see if they would grow, following all the care instructions. I've been growing roses for over 20 years. When it became apparent they would not grow, I contacted Jackson & Perkins in accordance with their Warranty.
Rep told me they would replace them. While on the phone with her, she then told me she couldn't replace them because they were Out of Stock. She offered a credit.
Here's the issue. They would only credit the cost of the roses, not the shipping and handling. When I explained is was not reasonable to expect the customer to incur shipping costs for dead product, she checked with her Manager. Manager said they would not refund shipping. I asked her to escalate higher. Again, Jackson & Perkins response was they would not refund the entire amount.
I finally had to contest the charges with my credit card company, twice, as they refused to refund full amount. The refund came through, then they billed it again. Credit Card company removed. Then, this month, the charge reappeared, so they continue to try to bill me for the privilege of letting them ship me dead rose bushes!
Note: I ordered two roses last year as well. One grew with strange growth, then died a month later. The other never grew at all. I did not advise J&P of this.
Bottom line: I will Not order anything from this company again. Their products are sub-standard and they do Not honor their warranty.
Prior to the change in ownership, products quality was always high and they always honored their warranty.
Such a shame
Desired outcome: Remove shipping costs and stop trying to re-bill me for them.Improve customer service and product quality.
Destroyers of Mother's Day
Boy, have I tried to give these people the benefit of the doubt? But, 25 years of trying to conduct business with them is enough! I'm done!
These people have no clue what they are doing and they must be bumping into each other while doing it! They consistently cannot fulfill orders and are always having things canceled just before delivery, so there's no time to get anything else, except locally and quickly. This time it was a very special Mother's Day present for my 94-yr old mother, who wanted this rose. I ordered in November! Two weeks before Mother's Day, they first said they would keep a little longer to grow it out some more, then exactly a week before Mother's Day, they cancel the order with a measly $10 certificate that is only good for 3 weeks! I have had this consistently happen to me from these people, as well as similar other errors and mistakes that were self-inflicted, and I won't be trying again. It's too much disappointment either to try to get something from them and have it canceled at the last minute, when they should have known well before shipping date, and without proper concessions. The other things that can happen are after it arrives and it's either so poorly packaged that it's broken, or its so small that you could seriously win a fraud case! The left hand never knows what the right hand is doing and they don't care to fix it or take care of customers. After over 25 years trying to conduct business with them, I'm done! They have gotten too ridiculous and too complacent with being this way. They are NO FRIEND of the gardening community, that's for sure! These are just business people trying to make a buck, but they are not doing what they should be to earn it. Mediocrity rules the day here!

Order number so5025088. Ship date 4/21/2022
Hello, my Heuchera Fire Chief was dead on arrival. All the earlier plants got here safely and are thriving, but the Fire Chief was shipped USPS and sat in a metal mail box on a very hot day until I retrieved it. Plant arrived 4/27 so 6 days in transit. I did my best, but have been unable to revive it.
Desired outcome: I understand this happens, and would simply like a replacement. Thank you.Paul K Rentiers1637 NW 119TH TERGainesville, FL 32606
Order was cancelled by Jackson & Perkins with out any notification of such
placed order early march. called to update credit card info due to moving mid march. told order would ship later part of march. as of april 7, 2022 there has been no notifications from them and when I called to confirm order status. was told order was cancelled and the specific rose I order was already sold out. I always felt JP was a respectful and reputable throughout my growing years unable to order until now, when this was my first ever order. would not consider or recommend them now or ever.
Christmas Tree
I received a beautiful, healthy Christmas tree as a gift with lovely ornaments. I am, however, unable to attach the ornaments as they have no hook or means of attaching them to the tree. There is a small medallion which I tried to put over the wire around the tree, but they fall off. Four balls have already fallen and broken. This is really unacceptable for such an expensive gift, and you need to do something about it.
Desired outcome: Either send me some hooks or means of attaching the ornaments or a refund
I spoke with customer service twice but neither time were they able to furnish a plausible explanation of how to overcome the problem
Wrong product delivered looking nothing like the photo on their web site.
I can't believe J&P would lie about what they sell, it's not Christmas Cactus but Thanksgiving cactus, big difference. I even emailed Marina before ordering and I was assured it's the real thing because I know the difference. Plant arrived much smaller and thinner than what is shown on their website, pitiful. Totally disappointed for over $100.00 with shipping from South Carolina to North Carolina. Will not purchase from or recommend J&P ever again.
Desired outcome: My Money Refunded
Sales taxes not disclosed on online orders
This company confirms online order charges with a sales tax amount of zero but then actually charges sales tax when they process your credit card. They charged me $48 more than I approved when I confirmed the order. When I called they told me that if I had placed an order over the phone, they would have told me the sales tax amount...but they don't do that online. Huh? They have a website and I'm sure process thousands of orders there. I shop online all the time and I have never made a purchase from a website where it confirmed the total without taxes and then secretly charged sales tax.
Desired outcome: Refund of amount I did not approve
Bareroot roses
Shipped bare roots late and during a severe freeze. Arrived half dead. JP advised don't worry when I asked why they were shipping across country in the worst freeze in recent history. Planted them even though they were mostly brown. Now dark brown and dead. Wrote for a replacement or refund and was ignored. They can go bk again for all I care. Lousy product, service and communication.
Desired outcome: Refund
Rose order - dead products and the would not replace
I purchased 8 roses from J & P for $206.55 on January 29, 2020 (date of charge on my credit card). Purchase date was January 10, 2020. I have communicated with J & P and they originally denied replacement of the dead roses just a couple months after. I had sent pics of each dead rose. This was under their roses guarantee. I then contacted Paypal and after doing all the leg work and explaining their guarantee per their website applied and showed pics, they offered to replace them ONLY WHEN I dig them all up and ship them back to them. It cost me originally $33 in shipping to get the dead roses, and since I need to pay someone to plant them for me as I am physically limited, they gave me 10 days finally in September to have them dug up, shipped back to them and provide them a tracking number. Why would I pay someone to dig them up and box them in a huge box and pay myself out of pocket probably estimated at $75.00 plus to ship back to them to HOPE they send me alive ones this time? Paypal did not resolve because I did not send a tracking number and incur the additional shipping charges. J & P would NOT send a prepaid shipping label (knowing their shipping rates are MUCH cheaper than what I would pay to ship back to the east coast from California). I just want my money back!

Rose delivery
I ordered two roses as gifts for a memorial for a fried who had passed away. I have placed several orders with the company and have had great service and very happy wit their products. I ordered late in the season knowing they would be shipped during the appropriate time. The roses were sent after two snowstorms and will probably die before they can get planted next year. I contacted customer service and was told they were mailed at the appropriate time. I said - they have had two snow storms - how can that still be planting time. Too bad. Guess you are stuck with the order. Really surprised at such lack of customer service.

Bare root roses dead
I purchased 14 bare root roses ($ 411.41) Order: WEBJP3589072. A professional gardener assisted me with the plants and will take 6 to 8 weeks after planting. I contacted the company that there were no green leaves after 8 weeks. They emailed an instruction Mix 1/4 cup of Epsom salt to 1 gallon of water to each rose. I did. No green leaves. They asked for the scratch test shows the roses are dead. I could not provide due to health reason. Finally, I was able get up from my bed and took pictures (no green leaves). 90 days guarantee is expired and no single green leave 30, 60, and 90+ days. They shipped bad roses. The company is dishonest.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Magnolia tree purchase
Their customer service reps are as ruthless and you can imagine and then some. they:
1. Sent me a dead tree
2. When I called to report it dead on arrival, the CSR pushes back and asked me to plant it even though their return/refund policy says that they would send a healthy tree asap or refund me my money
3. When 4 weeks later I called a second time to report that the tree was as dead as it had been when I received it, that CSR said I would get a refund but didn't issue it.
4. When nothing happened and I reached out to them through PayPal they sent me this email: oh, joy! your merchandise credit for 75% of the value is here! despite the fact that their stated policy is to give a full refund.
Dont buy from them. Run away as fast as you can!
Jackson & Perkins are shysters. Money grubbers
Roses
I am a long time grower of roses. I well remember the old jackson and perkins. When I heard that they had been bought by park seed I was very reluctant to order from them because of some bad experience with park seed. This year I placed an order for 3 roses to see if they were good quality. Only 1 of the three was anything that I would feel was acceptable. I called and was promised that they would resend with a product that I would like. The reorder was worst than the first. As long as park seed owns them I will never reorder. Don't do business with them you will get burned
Jackson & Perkins should be ashamed of themselves. There should be a class action lawsuit against them for consumer fraud.
I live in Oregon and ordered 3 bare root roses in February. When they arrived, they looked dead. I said “no matter, ” and planted them as instructed. Portland, OR is called “The Rose City, ” so it is easy to get roses to grow. Well 3 months later, I still have 3 dead roses. I emailed J&P in April and yet to hear back. The $100 lesson learned is never do business with Park Seed or their subsidiary J&P. When Harry & David’s owned J&P from 1966 until 2006, J&P was well respected and grew nice roses. Park Seed bought them out of bankruptcy, moved the rose growing to South Carolina and has proceeded to live off J&P’s reputation. Park Seed has now ruined a once good name.

Well thanks Mikita ... Thanks for nothing... for your company not mentioning that I would have no guarantee... YOU THINk SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE MENTIONED THAT! (months ago!)
Just know I will NEVER order anything from your company again and will let all my friends know what a horrible customer service person so backhandedly let me know MONTHS later that there would be no guarantee in a snide and insulting way! There are special places in hell for people like you...Have a nice day.

Oh and can you send me the name of your supervisor and CEO... I want to forward your reply to them... No. don't bother... I will figure it out!
won't respond to complaints about product.
I ordered five rose bushes from this company. Four grew just fine, but one did not grow at all. It is dead, although all five received the same treatment as far as planting and watering. I have contacted Jackson & Perkins three times on this, but so far, have received absolutely no response. All I wanted was for them to replace ONE of the bushes. If they cannot stand behind their product, that leaves me no recourse but to let everyone I know.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
beware!!! jackson & perkins are shysters! do not buy from them!
Don't buy ANYTHING from these shysters! Id' give them NEGATIVE 5 stars if possible! Spent $25 on a rose bush, it arrived dead and they refused to replace the plant or refund my money. They gave me some song and dance about me living outside the zone the plant would grow in, but there is NOWHERE on their site that states the guarantee is void if you live outside a certain zone (even if it's only about 5 miles according to their map). Zero integrity, zero customer service!
Dale, I am so sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. I would love to talk more about this, please send me an email at info@jacksonandperkins.com or give us a call at [protected]
received dead roses
Do not buy from jacksons & perkins! It will be a total cheat!
We have recently bought 5 x 2-quart 'iceberg' roses at $25.95 each.
We knew they would be delivered bare-root so that immediately after we received them we have planted them all in the same area together with other roses.
1 rooted.
The other 4 died soon after.
We contacted j&p with the pictures, and original tags, of the dead roses to have them replaced.
They never replied.
We've ended up to pay a 2-quart bare-root rose $129.75!

bareroot roses
Ordered many bareroot roses in Feb 2018. Planted them after letting them soak as instructed. As of now, 7 roses are certainly dead, most others are sprouting but with stunted growth. I am thinking that New Mexico is not a good place to plant bareroots.
Have sent numerous notes via email, with pictures to [protected]@jacksonandperkins.com with no response. These notes included photos of the dead roses. Previously (last year) the same thing happened on some roses, and I received refunds for the bareroots that died. No response this time. Sales are on at Jackson and Perkins, and without the refund I will not engage with the sales. It will mean getting passed over for their sales, and the shipping charges never were reimbursed either last year or this year.
Quite disappointed with Jackson and Perkins.
order #webjp2346572, 8 rose bushes - black spot nightmare
I ordered
Rose Easy Going FL, Item #: 32521, 1
Rose Cinco de Mayo FL, Item #:
Rose Easy Going FL, Item #: 32521, 1
Rose Moondance FL PP19126, Item #: 30516, 1
Rose Charisma FL, Item #: 32512, 1
Rose Caribbean Breeze FL, Item #: 33256, 1
Lavandula Phenomenal, Item #: 34755, 1
Part of my order isn't complete, but the roses I received were full of black spot. I saved up for this as a start for my rose garden.
I called customer service - they told me to "just go ahead and plant fuel-efficient they'll be fine..." I asked for replacements, and this is the response I got.
Even I know that's not how to go about trying to rid the roses of this mess! When I got done removing the affected leaves, I had very little leaves each bush!
What a mess! If they make it through the winter. I'll be surprised! Yeah, they are guaranteed until May 2018. What a crappy way to do business. I used to respect their name and product; not any more!
Really sickened by the waste of my money. Won't be returning!
I've attached pic of just one out of the order. This is before I removed affected leaves. The leaves on the blue surface are the leaves that just fell off when I picked it up to take pic.
