My name is Jessica Platt and I was an employee at the Mabee Center from July 26 2021-September 27 2021. I made the decision to resign for my well-being and the concerns I had. I wanted to bring to your attention a few concerns that I had while working there. I was a Case Manager Specialist under Rapid Re-Housing and my supervision was Latashia Edwards. First, let me start by saying I enjoy working as a Case Manager and I have worked in this field/community for a few years now. I would like to put in a formal complaint against Latashia. I spoke with Ms. I would like to address the following concerns: Latashia was very disrespectful towards me by going behind my back and questing from a rental property (proof) about my work, asked formal co-workers asking if they like me. I have had concerns with Latashia the first day we started. In our first meeting together I and two other co-workers set in her office, Latashia referenced that the team is doing the work wrong and she doesn't understand why because she trained them. She would talk negatively about her current co-workers on the team and a past co-worker Rayana. It was very uncomfortable to hear that being that I was a new employee. I had to go out of town and she asked me once where I was going and I responded that I am going out. When I returned to work and on a Team meeting she asked me again. I end up telling her where I went. It is like she has no sense of privacy and is very noisy. I don't understand why she was asking me where I was going when I am not working? It is none of her business. Another concern, If I questioned her or if something didn't make sense to me I would ask to get clarity from her. Latashia would raise her voice at me, she has done that on two occasions. I did not receive the proper train when it was associated with completing the attachment 3 document. Latashia had me and the co-worker work on it together without any training. Latashia sent us an example of a former employee's attachments and email. Latashia did not sit down and explain anything. This created confusion and stress because being a new employee there was a lot of back and forth with no sense of direction from Latashia. because there was so much confusion in completing this document Latashia and the co-worker came to the conclusion that they would be responsible to complete the document. I would give the information to the co-worker each time I would house someone. A few weeks later Tasha tells me and the co-worker that we need to go line by line to work on the document. I was confused because the last conversation we had on attachment 3 is that Latashia and the co-worker would work on that. I gave that example because I want to to see what type of supervisor she was. Latashia was a poor and unprofessional supervisor. She would ask and say one thing when it came to going a project and then change it without letting me know. Over the weeks I notice that I would need Latashia to send me what she is asking in the email form that way I can track what she is saying because unfortunately Latashia's communications skills are not good and she would change her mind. I asked in her office and in Mr. WIlliam's office if she would send me an email when she would want us to do something specific or a project. Latashia told me no she is not going to email me because she sent a message through my formal co-worker who is new to Salavation Army as I was. I told her that form of sending messages and information through another employee did not work for me because the information I don't understand and I would like to get it from my supervisor. Latashia did not like that I held her accountable as my supervisor. I can go on and on but there are so many issues with Latashia that I believe aware of if you are not already. My last concern that I would like to address is in the last meeting that we had with Mr. William she threatens that she would write me up if I and the co-worker did not iron out the issues. She also brought in another co-worker in the meeting that should have not been in the meeting. I told her I was uncomfortable with that other person in the meeting and she still wanted to do the meeting. Mr. Wlliam had to step in and tell her it would be rescheduled. There are so many alarming concerns with her even being a supervisor, she doesn't respect others and talk about hem behind there back. I would like a follow-up with you, I hope that my email make sense and I tried to give a few examples but trust me there is more! I can be reached at [protected].

Rude district manager and manager
I went tomake a donation and there was no organization at all. I asked for a cart or help since I am disable. I was to they didn't have any carts and I would have to wait. There was no organization people were just coming and dropping things off and nobody was waiting. When I unloaded my items a DM came and said she was calling the police. I said I asked for a cart or help and got nothing. I left and the police called and said I needed to pick the items up or I would be summoned to coury. When I went back to pickup the items I asked the guy at receiving if they were going to accept any of these items he said he BB wasn't sure the manager was coming. She started yelling I don't want any of that [censored] you need to get the f... off my property and as I was loading the items in my car she called. the police again after taking a picture of me and my can and when I tried to take a picture of her she told the police I was harassing her. I am disabled and cannot imagine that this is how they treat disable people. Their business runs on donations but I cannot imagine it lasting long at this rate.

I am trying to get in touch with someone because my children and I recently applied to receive nipsco/rental assistance. Due to the leasing agent of our "new apartment". Here's the deal: The children and I just came out of St Judes domestic violence center for women in Crown Point, IN, for 2 months we were promised to be placed in our apartment. Finally the gentlemen calls and St Judes covers the deposit of $895, Geminus corporation was trying to help but the leasing manager did not comply with W9 Tax form at first. So I covered the cost of expenses, than he tells us we still couldn't move in because of "mainetance". Than on September 15th NOT SEPTEMBER 1rst like your worker Provedencia Blanchard, states because our leasing manager didnt contact me and let me know we needed our renters insurance and nipsco turned on until last minute stating our building unit wasn't covered for utility assistance. So I come up with the cash at the last minute. Needless to Say we reached out to Salvation Army, but due to work and due to mother nature and hurricane issues with our apt in houston. I had to return for an insurance claim. Ms. Provedencia was sweet at first but would always pick the wrong times to call... Now she is very well aware with the old apartment leasing agent here in Gary, Indiana for the Lake Shore Dunes Apartment. See weve really only technically got to live in our apartment for 1 week in September and I've been paying on this apartment since June 15th. Now if Ms. Provedencia would like to take that into consideration, she should not be speaking to me like this and especially in front of my employers. I am going to post the following emails as well here.

Emily, tomorrow has come and gone. We will not be able to assist you with your rent or utilities. I have spoken to my Captain, Amanda Keene, and made her aware that I kept your pending Case Record, in my office, on my desk, for over a month, awaiting your documentation via email.
The information you emailed me yesterday evening, was not what I requested or needed. With specificity, I made you aware telephonically, and via email, what those verifications were. Again, we will be unable to assist you. I am closing your file.

I got followed around the store and the employee came up to me and told me to pick up the clothes and hang them. I told him I was not a employee and that I was a shopper and he said "I don't care, pick up these clothes and hang them" I felt very disrespected so I tried to resolve the issue with the manager that was on shift and she said she would just talk to him and didn't apologize or anything to me for the way I was treated. I will never go to salvation army again. I will take my business to Goodwill and make sure everyone knows that salvation army is a horrible horrible store to shop at.

Well, I did what doctor said wore long sleeves n pants to cover blister cause while blistered I am contagious. I told the employees and She got another employee whom stormed in an started in on me verbally! How dare you expose us put our lives as risk, It was horrible! I cried n cried told her showing my paperwork from the ER doctor! I will never go there again I wouldn't send anyone to them if they need help! An employee who would never return my calls for assistance I submitted 6mon ago.
I applied for rental assistance 6mon ago in feb 2021, with the salvation army customer service line. My case was assigned to a mrs. Angela webster mrs. Webster had called me and left a message back in march 2021 leaving me gee name phone number and a brief message of who she was and with. I immediately called her back even though it was after hours I wanted her to no I had received her message and I left a good time to reach out to me. The customer service employee couldnt stress enough how important it was to be available or return the call asap. There was so many applying for assistance and the case workers will move on to the next if they dont hear from you. I called mrs watson daily leaving a message as I new I had to be out of my apt in aug 2021. Mrs watson nvr returned my calls I had to reach out to corp for a supervisor. Still didnt help in july I lost my mom and oldest son a huge financial set back I reached out again ended up talking to a supervisor who said mrs. Watson had been in a car accident, but mrs. Watson did finally reach out to me this same day gathered up information and said she would be in touch well that was my last conversation with her, again I tried reaching her with no success I ended up speaking to a niki who reached out to both mrs. Watson and her supervisor kathy malloy. I finally received a voice mail from angela saying she had no options available 4 me they were out of funds. Great I have to be out oct 3rd I reached out back in feb plenty of time because your employee wouldnt call me back my opportunity for help I lost because of your employee. Now im looking at being homeless after losing 2 family members and not being in the best mental state of mind and no where to go or what to do. Lack of social services provided by case workers
My friend is not being given the help he needs. He is currently staying there. He is without legs, a u.s. citizen and has met with case workers. No one has helped him apply for disability or section 8 housing or even food stamps. They want to help him find shared housing. The man is able to take care of himself and deserves a place of his own. His scooter also needs to be replaced as well. This could all be taken care of by ss disability. When he is not sleeping in the facility, he is forced to beg on the street corner for money. This is negligent and a disgrace. This man deserves to be treated with dignity. The case workers incompetence is inexcusable. Also the outside facilities should be kept open at nt so the nearby homeless people have a safe place to sleep, use the bathroom, and take a shower. This place claims to be a non profit but is run like a for profit. It might as well be the Walmart of the non profit world.
Desired outcome: I want this place to be reformed and ran properly.

I visited the store at 7:48 I kept my phone in my hand and as soon as I walked in the door the girl at the front said you have 8 minutes. I said thank you and started browsing the glass case at the counter where she was in the center of the store. Shortly thereafter she said you have 5 minutes. Again I thanked her and said I would like to see one item when you get a chance. She was busy with a pen and paper so I didn't bother her so I went to another part of the store and a few minutes later she said we're closed sir. I went to the counter and ask her if I could see the item I had inquired about previously. In a very rude manner and tone she said no we're closed. I then looked at my phone and it was 7:57. I said nothing about the time and I said to her that I had asked her to see it before when I first came in and she didn't look up, she didn't say anything and she just completely ignored me.
This is the third time something like this has happened since I've been coming here.
And I'll tell you one thing, it won't happen again cuz I will not set foot inside this store or any Salvation Army store again ever.
As long as I have your ear I have to mention one other experience that was horrible. I have a bad back and there was a chair that was just great for your back and it was crazy cheap at $25. So I purchased it and they put my name on the item is sold and I told them I would be back to pick it up shortly and I came back and it was gone somebody had removed the sold tag and my chair was gone. I asked the manager what had happened and Hughes rude and didn't give me any kind of an answer that meant anything. So yeah, I'm done with you people.
I wish you success and I hope you do a lot of good in this world but I will have nothing to do with it. And you know doubt will not notice my absence but I feel you should know that as a seller online items of all kinds new and vintage I have spent literally literally thousands over the years here as I've been coming here since 1999.
Desired outcome: I know what I would do if I was in charge of the store but frankly I don't care what you do or don't do. I am done.
Rude staff
A man who was working on the evening of 7/30/2021 at The Salvation Army Family Store at 4315 N Broadway, Chicago, IL is always very rude. I am not sure what exactly is his position - it looks like he is kind of security guy. He yells on the customers all the time. It is unbelievable!
I usually go to the store every week, but this week I came later than usual - at 6:20 pm. They close at 7:00 pm. He immediately started to yell on me that next time he will not allow to go to the store so late because they are closing soon. Another woman came at 6:35 pm with several bags of donations, and he screamed on her that the donations should be done before 6:30 pm. She just wanted to leave the bags, but he literally kicked her out with the bags, and didn't accept the donations.
At 6:30 pm he started his regular "counting down" shouting every min that all customers need to go to the register. I wanted to shop a little bit, but couldn't even concentrate. He followed me screaming that I need to go to the register. I told that I don't have anything to buy yet, and I still have 20 min to shop. He scolded me in front of all people in line that I am always shopping late, and need to come during the day. And since I am not buying anything, I need to leave the store immediately. He didn't let me shop anymore. It was 6:45 pm!
The fitting rooms were opened recently, but they are closing them at 6 pm!
I would never go to this store again because of so rude staff behavior, but unfortunately due to COVID restrictions I have to shop only in the stores in the walking distance (I don't have a car). Also my budget is limited.
I was trying to be understanding and empathetic for a long time - I thought that maybe something will change, however, it is getting worse and worse. That guy is like a King of the store. He doesn't respect anybody, he is threatening people. I don't understand why the management is keeping him - his behavior is unacceptable! I don't have any issues with other staff in this store, they are always very polite.
Another store at 2151 W Devon Ave has similar issue. I have been observing very rude behavior from 2 people working in that store - one man and a woman. They yell on customers too, treat the customers very bad, and always trying to close the register 10-15 min earlier on the weekdays. Once I asked that woman to show me 2 things at the counter, and she refused to show me one more arguing that I am not buying any of two I've already seen!
Please check independent reviews of other customers on Google or Yelp. It looks like the complains have never been addressed.
I really hope that the Salvation Army management will listen and address the issues. The people come to the stores to donate or support the stores, however, less and less people will want to do the good things next time due to so painful experience.

I have been a customer of your thrift shop for many years and have introduced many people to it. I have stopped going and stopped referring friends and family to your stores. You took a great shopping setup with clothing organized by size and changed it to color organized racks. Why did you do this? Your store stood apart from all the others because it was organized by size and not by colors, a 7 day return for store credit, and fitting rooms. It's a mess now and it's not a fun shopping experience anymore. Please consider changing it back to how it was.
Desired outcome: Change back to organization by site not color. It's ridiculous to expect the customer to go through each piece looking for the right size.
The staff and the residents behavior
Since I have been here I have witnessed many things by both residents and staff. I have also had staff come up with excuses for residents behavior as well as being harassed by them. My first week I was here I had a resident look into my bathroom stall, ask me the time and then start cursing at me because I didn't answer because I didn't feel comfortable. I told the staff member what happened and she said, " Oh, maybe she accidentally looked into your stall, and "Maybe she just had a bad morning". There was a situation I had with a male staff member telling me to do something and then continued to tell at me while I was doing what he was asking me to do. I told him it was disrespectful and he just responded with, "I'll show you disrespectful", 'You won't win this fight". There was one girl that was clearly a vulnerable adult, (she was talking to herself and the windows) and clearly needed medical help, they did nothing to help her and the same (female) staff member (this time) that I mentioned earlier just made excuses for her, and said, "yeah she just needs to be on some meds. Me and my current room mate have also been harassed by the staff members saying we were being loud when we were not and we are both pretty sure it is because she is trans. I have put up with harassment by the staff and the residents.
Desired outcome: I want the staff that harassed me and my room mate, whole making excuses for other residents behavior to be fired.
Pricing and service
I've been going to the salvation army for years in Manassas Virginia 11201 Balls Ford Rd, Manassas, VA 20109. Me my family friends and relatives all donate and shop there. The goods sold there are donated and the money goes to charity. The location is a thrift shop. I purchased many items there and have gone there many many times over the years mostly about once a month or more and at times I'd say weekly or more. Thrift shopping is a fun thing to do for many people and it supports good causes. We donate and we buy it helps charity.
Problem I see at this location now is the prices have gone out of reach over what people should pay.
People shopping at thrift shops look for a deal. They either don't have money and are buying used and the people in the community that don't have money get things they need at a discount. Other sales are people just looking to buy things to either resell or get at a discount. This is the way of thrift shopping. This is how salvation army has grown to what it is and will hopefully stick around being.
I go to goodwills and other salvation army locations in the area I am very well aware of thrift shop pricing.
This Manassas location has increased its pricing over the years and has now got to a point that I no longer and most others no longer want to shop there.
Is salvation army looking at the online reviews and google maps reviews and the sales?
Knick knacks that used to be a dollar are all in the $5 range now. Knicks that were five dollars now sell for $10 and up. Vases sell $15 and up. Plates are like $7 to $8 a piece.
The pricing for most items are extremely high. I see now they have more complete sets not selling and sitting on the shelf because no one's buying complete sets of dinnerware priced it more than they'd cost new.
How much is a full place set brand new even at a decent retailer. A plate, cup, saucer, small salad plate, and whatever else. How much is that going to cost salvation army pricing? More than new.
I looked at multiple dinnerware sets and could find the same maker for less money on Amazon buying it new then from this thrift location. The pricing is not the same in the Annandale location or outer areas only this Manassas location has very strange pricing.
I priced the generic White Cornell dinner plate on Amazon brand new for a set of eight for 30 to some dollars. At 8 a plate at the thrift shop it's more money used then new. It doesn't make sense.
I understand that most thrift shops have not really adjusted their Blu-ray DVD pricing that is used. But that's just the industry in this area. But that pricing is also way off. Brand new movies are $5 now in routinely go on sale clearance at Big lots for under $5 even a $1.25 to a dollar fifty for a brand new Blu-ray movie but the same movie is $5 at a thrift shop used. So there's why Blu-ray and DVD movies aren't moving cuz they're pretty cheap new and cost about the same brand new so why buy it used from a thrift shop. Anyway that's just this area in time saying something that should be fixed but that's all locations. The pricing at this location with the general merchandise is so wrong I'm hoping someone looks into it. As I said I spent hundreds of dollars a month at this location and now spend nothing pretty much if anything and go much less.
I'm not sure what's going on but I noticed people don't shop there the same and everybody has the same complaints. The clothing still seems to be selling but everything else is no longer like a thrift shop and more like a consignment store. This is disappointing due to not being able to buy the normal thrift shop items and get the normal thrift shop pricing. I genuinely mean this I would spend hundreds of dollars a month at this location at a minimum no less than 70 some dollars a month because I somehow didn't go in but now I get by by spending $5 or so no more than $10. Why the pricing is so outrageous. I wonder if it's kind of affected the money that the store makes. I just think this pricing is bad for the community, bad for the organization, bad for the long time customers and future customers, and for the organization to make money that's ultimately helping people.
Desired outcome: Someone needs to contact this location and or do a inspection and check the pricing. The location needs to update their pricing the thrift shop pricing and the pricing the way it used to be and is at other locations.
Rental assistance program
Hello, so 2 of my tenants went to the salvation army and applied for rental assistance. They qualify for their services. One of the renters I have is actually my ex. But because of my past experiences I ensured we made a rental contract we both agreed that was a good thing. So due to him being in appeals with his unemoyment since March 2nd he has yet fallen even further behind. I only get 535 a week and uo u til a month ago he had his 2 older boys living with him. Plus every other weekend at the least his other 3 kids were here also. He went for the interview and she told him he needed to provide proof of the children via tax return or medical cards or whst not. He provided that even somethibg saying he was negatively impacted by covid which he did. Not sure why she needed the info for the kids since they no longer reside here but he provided it anyways. Then 2 days later she caked me and said I can't charge my husband rent. First off the only reason we are still legally married is due to my personal issues with my ex husband. He has attempted to kill me on mtiole occasions and theb only way to protect my kids and their home is if i was to remain married and that way everything goes to Uriah. I havev a will but I know it can be changed easily unless it's a surviving spouse . My kids dad passed away and all our family. This isn't Ok I have already talked to other members of the salvation army and was told that he would qualify I might just have to show we don't have things such as joint accounts or what have you which I can do but she won't have any part of it. Then my other tenant had an appointment and he has all his documents and he walked in she grabbed his papers abs she says he has to price he paid debt last 3 months with receipts and a bunch of other stuff. He needs paid debt for 3 months he moved in last July on the 20th paid July to August then August to September then webbed the thing went into effect that I couldn't evict him he stopped paying rent. This is absurd. I don't know this lady or what her problem is exactly but something needs to be done. I haven't gotten help of any kind my whole life up until a couple years ago and I haven't received even power bill help in over 1 year. I've been on my own since I was 13c and until I was 36 I never reached out for help. So it's not like I have ever abused the system taken advantage of nothing. But I'm about to loose everything Nevada I can't support everyone and if they could catch up their rent it would help me and my kids from loosing everything. Please help rectify this matter at your easiest convenience. Also I tried to email her and she has me blocked to where I can't email either and won't return anyone's calls. Thank you

Also I just received an email and they claim they have talked to me on multiple occasions ans they have not one time I talked to the Amanda one time ever and they are saying rhey don't meet the minimum requirements. He did until she thought she knew something. I haven't reached out on Facebook or anything so I don't know where this is coming from.

I arranged to have some items picked up from my home that were boxed and labeled on my porch. I received a voicemail message at 12:51 indicating that they would be by in 10 minutes. I called the main office at 2:40 and was told that the delivery was canceled and the truck was already back at the warehouse. I was told that I could set up another pickup for the following month. I requested to speak with a supervisor and the driver stated that they knocked on the door and someone stated that they did not speak English. We only speak English and no one was at home and my video surveillance which goes out to the street doesn't even show a Salvation Army truck much less on my porch.
Desired outcome: I would like for them to come sooner than next Thursday.
Donating furniture
I scheduled a pickup in March 2021 to be done in May was suppose to be in morning because I work nights. The day came and it was scheduled for 12 to 3. If course they came at 255p. I had to be back at work at 7p. They came said they had no room, took the drawers to desk and said they would be right back. Then 15 min later I get a call telling me they would come Monday morning. Well its Tuesday now I have been on the phone with the 1 800 number for 1 hr and still no desk pickup. Called to get my drawers back noone knows where they are. I WILL NEVER USE SALVATION ARMY AGAIN AND WILL PASS WORD ALONG TO EVERYONE.
