I hired Tippet Richardson for my move because they were known to be reliable. However, I had some issues with them. First, the cost was $500 more than what they estimated. Second, the sales rep who was helping me got fired while I was arranging the move. I had to find out from her instead of the company telling me. I was worried that my move would get messed up. Third, I bought insurance that I thought would cover any damage, but it turns out it only covers things that are less than 14 years old. They didn't tell me this when I bought it. Fourth, my antiques got damaged, and the insurance wouldn't cover it. They did give me $300 as a goodwill gesture, but it wasn't enough to cover the damage. Fifth, they charged me $339 for packing materials that they said were free. Sixth, it took a month of emailing back and forth to figure out why they charged me for the packing materials. They thought I kept the boxes, but I didn't. They refunded me the money, but it was a waste of time. I should have done more research on the insurance before I bought it. Lesson learned.

Blair said it would be 88 cents per pound with no sneaky costs, but they didn't weigh the container beforehand. We finished packing at 2 p.m. but they didn't take the container blocking my driveway and my neighbor's until 7:30 p.m. The office said there was no driver available.

They took the full cost from my credit card and gave me a receipt for the $250 deposit I paid months ago. They eventually gave me the right receipt with 99 cents per pound. The accountant was rude when I asked about the rate difference and told me to talk to Blair. Blair was a jerk and not professional like he was when he got me to sign the contract. He sent me a rate sheet with different rates for different weights that he didn't give me before. I shipped less stuff than I said, but they said it weighed almost the same as what I said. I can't check the weight because they control the scale.

My stuff came late and some was missing and broken. They said they unloaded my stuff from the original container, put it in their warehouse, and then put it in another container. They took my suit boxes that weren't theirs. I bought those boxes from somewhere else.

The insurance company paid for some stuff, but not everything. They paid less than what I paid for some things. They wouldn't pay for other things because they said they didn't know if the damage happened when they had it.

I told the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Affairs, but they couldn't do anything. Blair wouldn't help and said they didn't do anything wrong.

Watch out, the law lets them raise the rate by 10 cents per pound without telling you. They do this to get your business and then charge you more later. There's nowhere to complain if the insurance company doesn't pay you enough for your damaged or missing stuff.
