Fraudulent Billing Practices: SCAM
If you use them once they will send you letter at the start of the next year disguised as a promotion to sign up again, with various discount offers.
EXCEPT IN THE FINE PRINT THEY WILL MENTION YOU HAVE BEEN "AUTOMATICALLY" SIGNED UP ALREADY, for the NON DISCOUNTED PRICE.
You will find out they did this when they complete a treatment on your yard and you get billed. So pretty much like ordering a pizza sent to your house without your knowing, then sticking you with the bill.
A complete and total scam organization. FYI, their service was pretty lousy regardless.

TLC cannot even be called a company. They are a group of con artists, collecting money from trusting and unsuspecting people - stealing money and getting away with it. First I fired them 3/4 of the way into the season for poor performance, then I asked for a full refund. The last time the yokel technician showed up he said my lawn looked weak and diseased, and we had more weeds than. That is what the one star is for - for an honest assessment of his own performance. There should be a law against con artists like this.
I have used their service for several years. In the beginning, although the service was not great, when I complained there was usually a reasonable response. But lately when I complain, I get poor or no response. I maintained my loyalty as best as I could until I finally came to the conclusion that they did not intend to provide the level of service that I had previously received. When I inquired about a refund of my last payment, I was told that the cancellation was due to financial concerns rather than poor service. That is just simply not true and I believe it is an excuse used by the company to avoid being accountable. I want to have my last payment reversed .
I had this company last year fertilize my lawn, after their third and fourth application in the fall and winter , they killed my grass! I immediately contacted the company to say , hey you killed my grass! They never contacted me only sent someone to my home unannounced ( all on my ring camera) walked all around my yard , left a note on my door saying it was a new mysterious grass ive never had , then blamed on me. Their customer service has been rude at best to me and they actually showed up AGAIN maybe to attempt to rob me? I dont know. My experience with this company was at best awful, they killed my grass and did nothing about it , i fixed it myself after they destroyed it.

We were on the impression that this was also a Landscaping company. contacted the company and schedule a visit to get quote, My husband called again the same day to confirm that Landscaping could be done if needed and then we got this clarification and cancelled the visit. Suddenly we received a late notice that we have 45 days past due for a performed service. I contacted TLC and the lady WAS EXTREMELY RUDE, I don't understand how can a company have unhappy people working who does not know how to treat others. Horrible! Today I got a summary of the service performed on 04/07 from 8:29 to 8:47 what justifies a $45.11 bill! for an unknown service which was previously cancelled by us, this is just insane!

We were contacted via US mail with an offer of $25.93 per treatment, including grub treatment. We were quoted additional charge of $76.32 for lime. We agreed to this. They sent a letter charging $39.98 per treatment. We called them and explained that we were quoted a different price, and asked them to send new letter and new payment coupons (we opted for the 8-payment plan). They refused to give us the price we were quoted. We told them to cancel our upcoming services, we are no longer interested. We requested a confirmation email so that they know not to show up at our residence, as we will not be using, or paying for, their services. They did not send the email. I would give less than 1 star review if it were an option

Terrible company, did a very poor job of servicing my lawn. In 6 visits 2 of the technicians did the job right and covered all of my property. The rest seemed to be in a rush and did very poor coverage of my property. They asked me to sign up for a core aerate and reseed which I did but it never happened! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR LAWNCARE WITH THIS COMPANY YOUR THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY!

Call ended without having opportunity to express my disappointment in their product & service. I sent a fax that included my itemized bill that shows all of my installment payments were paid in full. I received a bill in the amount of $114.36 for grub treatment. I did not ask for nor did I approve grub treatment. This company needs held accountable for their corrupt practices.
No change in lawn quality. Charged me for final month without rendering services. Called and requested cancellation of auto renew for next year and then ended up getting a notice of auto renewal two months later.
I have used TLC for about four years
I have used TLC for about four years. I have special requests for treatment around certain areas. The treatment technicians have been very careful to comply with my requests. In general, the yard is in very good shape and appearance. Much better than if I'd treated myself. I am happy with the results and have received complements on the appearance of the yard. I have 1,400 square feet of rye and zoysia grass. I have purchased only the fertilization and weed control applications. With one lime application each of the last two years. I HAVE NOT used the over-seeding nor the aeration service. Nor any other services they offer, such as grub control. I cannot vouch for the efficacy of those treatments. For what I received I am very pleased.
I'm with the other comments...I decided to give them a try and my backyard looks worse than ever. During the last application, they only treated a part of the yard - the parts they could reach on their riding machine, The rest was neglected. So disappointing.

I got a mailer for a full year service last year. Five treatments. I had a beautiful Scott's lawn. I thought I would let me do the treatments and make my lawn even better. Most of the time, they just showed up without warning and we would scramble around picking up the hoses, tools, whatever, so they could spread the treatment. I had asked for mostly fertilizer for the lawn. Just weed and feed. Mostly feed the lawn. I had spent years, every year adding more new Scott's seed. I had a lot of new baby Scotts grass coming up. After the last treatment I noticed my lawn was gone. I could just cry. I worked so hard to get my Scott's lawn looking really nice. I called them and they said nothing they could do. My last treatment was in October. I probably called them the first time in November or Dec. The lawn really good bad, just dirt and weeds. In April I went and bought two big bags of Scott's seed and spread it all over the lawn. We watered; it rained, over and over. Not a single blade of grass came up. I just called them again today since I was so upset I ever let them touch my lawn. I called to tell them I am taking them to court. They didn't care. The gave me to a lady, Jenny. She said they did a courtesy treatment on August 21. They put down Fungus control and it kills your grass. They didn't ask or tell me any of this. I didn't want any treatment that would kill all my grass. This is crazy. I can't find any grass in my yard. This is heart breaking. I don't know where they came from. I'm in the Annapolis, Maryland area. Their paperwork says Shrewsburg, MA. This has been horrible. I am so sorry I had them touch my lawn. I would give then a - 0. I don't have any lawn left. I called them today and had to hang up on Jenny. They will not do anything at all to fix my problem with now, no grass. If I knew they were going to do something that would kill all my grass; I would have told them NO... !

The Lawn Company TLC in Middlesex County MA They performed work I did not request. I have no idea who they are and performed work I did not request, then sent me a bill. I called three times to let them know I didn't know who they were or what they did, without any response. Then a recieved a bill from a collection agency!
Although the billing office says Massachusetts my residence where the service was is in central ohio. I received a mailer early in the year offering services that you could pay for monthly or prepay for the entire year. I did prepay for the year but after a couple of months with no contact from anyone at the company I called them. I called them several times. After calling and emailing the company and sending record of my payment from my bank, received a call from someone saying they didn't service me yet because they couldn't find my home on their map. They also told me that I should be paying a much higher rate because it sounded like my yard was bigger than what the paper said I should be paying, but they would honor my price for this year only. I received a letter in the mail saying my account is more than 30 days past due and when I called them they said it was because I ordered additional services. The amount I paid was to include those services. I did go ahead and pay the additional amount that they claim I owed and told them to cancel my service is with their company. I had already called two weeks prior and left a message with their office saying I wanted services to stop because I was not satisfied with my lawn treatment. There are weeds everywhere. I asked for a return call and never got one. I will not ever have this company to provide services for me again and I will tell everyone that I speak to about lawn care that this company is very unprofessional and explain to them the treatment that I received. If I could have given this company lower than one star I would have done so.

When I called they told me I had a bill larger than what I received in the mail. After asking the customer service rep is "this all I have to pay to cancel" he said yes I went ahead & paid it. Even though I didn't want too. I asked that they send me a letter in the mail saying I cancelled my services. He said "ok".
Lo and behold ANOTHER bill came in the mail. So I decided to call to see what was up. I got off the phone with a headache.
They tried to tell me that when I called and paid to cancel I didn't pay everything that I needed to pay.

But that's not the bad part! Mr. Patrick M was very unpleasant to talk to. He told me he was customer service supervisor and when I asked to speak to someone over him he said "that's the COO and he is not home right now". He over talked me and to be a representative of Someone else's company he didn't show his best card.
This call need to be replayed and he need to be disciplined in some type of way. If he was the supervisor I wonder what his team is like?
He also told me if I didn't pay it they will send it to collections. Then he said he would take the remainder balance away but took that back when I started to tell him how rude he was for over talking me.
Please, PLEASE, please do NOT contact this company for ANY services. If I would have read the reviews before hand it would have saved me a headache, time, & money!
Great marketing , POOR service. On Sept. 28 have been here only 3 times , lawn is covered with weeds and clove. Customer service is unresponsive and rude. Will not use this service again.

TLC has done 2 treatments this year
TLC has done 2 treatments this year. The first one did not do the job. My yard is full of weeds. Never been this bad. Sent them email letting them know it didn't work and they replied wait 7-10 days to get results. No improvement at all. Couldn't get through on the phone. Came back last week and did the treatment to correct. Told tech about the first one and that I wasn't paying for service without any results. Asked him to let TLC corporate know what was going on so they knew I wasn't paying for the first treatment. The tech left me a bill for both treatments after seeing first hand the first treatment didn't work. Received a call from corporate asking why I hadn't paid! Holy smokes really! Do the job you get paid. Simple as that. DO NOT use these people. Oh, just got letter today saying I owe them $150.00 yikes.

I've been using TLC for 4 years now. First and foremost, my lawn has never been thicker or greener than has been these past 4 years. There has been times when the applicator seemed to rush through the yard and not pay attention to harder to reach areas but every time i have ever called TLC with my concerns, they have always addressed the issue, whether it be by reapplication, sending someone out to discuss or having a telephone conversation, at one point i was experiencing a lot of ground creeping ivy, and even though they do not spray for this regularly, they came out and did apply something that took care of the problem. The only thing i would suggest is that they be more proactive instead of reactive, but all in all they have always addressed my concerns, and again my lawn has never been thicker or greener than it has been using TLC.

I contacted this business though a leaflet we received in the mail. I set arrangements to have my lawn serviced and wanted to pay for the year. I was quoted a price and had tried to pay on the phone, but I was told to wait for my bill in the mail. For paying up front I was to receive a 5% discount. I never received a bill and a service man showed up treated my lawn and gave me a bill for one service. I had explained to him I was to pay for the year, he didnt know anything about that. I then called TLC, and the woman that I had spoke with told me since I already had a service on my lawn, they could not honor the discount. I told her I wanted to pay up front before I ever got a service and she could have cared less. What cannot rate then zero stars? Two words to anyone that will think of signing up "STAY AWAY." If you want to be on top of them and call (and wait on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes) for regular service, this is the company for you. If you like to get charged for services that was not rendered, this is the company for you. If you like to wait for customer service to get back to you with a revised bill AND they charge you interest in the mean time, this is the company for you. Poor customer service. Tech came out after us calling to remind them. It was too hot out to apply weed killer / fertilizer and he left. But I was charged for it! So save you service reports because it come your word against theirs. By lawn went from acceptable to all weeds. I called and they said to send pictures. I sent pictures. No response. I had enough and cancelled. I called to get a revised bill. I get a letter that notified of past due and they will provide amount owned to my attorney, Really? I do believe I was waiting on a revised bill. Plus they tacked interest on top because they never responded. So many other companies out there. Not worth the aggravation.

When I signed up for service I gave TLC authorization to make direct withdraws from my bank in order to facilitate payment to them. Toward the end of the summer/fall season, TLC sent an email soliciting lime, aeration and seeding services. I agreed to pay for the extra service. TLC completed the service. In January 2022, I start receiving nasty-grams telling me that I owe TLC for the end of season treatment. Within 2 weeks I receive another nasty-gram. I then called and asked what and why I owed since they already had authorization to withdraw the funds from my bank. I was given a half-baked, nonsensical explanation that the authorization was not good for the late season treatment. Uh? TLC could not explain why. I asked for an invoice. Within a week or two TLC forward the bill to a collection agency. I called TLC yet again and asked for an invoice. They agreed to email one to me. Nothing. More dunning letters from the bill collector. Called TLC again in early April 2022 as I still have not received an invoice. I learned that they cannot email invoices. If you have time to waste with incompetence, then by all means hire this company. Otherwise, find any one of the thousands of other lawn care companies to hire.

Absolutely a nightmare do not recommend! I placed my order for service March 29 they charged my card immediately and I didn't hear anything from them. Finally April 1st I tried calling and couldn't get through to a person "due to high call volumes" so I left a voice message, which still has not been returned. I finally emailed and got a response that "we will be out soon". April 9th still no service I emailed again they respond the next day saying they will bring it to the dispatchers attention. Monday the 12th I get an email saying my service is scheduled for this week... Friday comes and still no one came out. I decide to cancel clearly the company has horrible customer service and I can only imagine the service itself. I called left messages because you still can't get through to a person, I emailed with a cancel notice and disputed transaction with my bank. Guess who shows up today Saturday the day after I canceled. We told the guy we canceled and he started getting loud with my husband telling him he was sent out here so he's spraying we told him absolutely not or we would be calling the cops because we do not want the service or to be charged by their company. I tried to call the number again and this time I got a your call cannot be completed at this time. This company is a scam do nothing fall for their "great pricing"

The service I chose from their advertisement was "Full-Season 5-Service Program (8 Payments of $24.08). Lowest Price - Guaranteed, Results - Guaranteed and Unbeatable Service Guaranteed". I paid the first two but the service itself was lousy and after waiting a week from the third application I canceled the service because when I started I had crabgrass, clover and violets. I still have crabgrass, clover and violets. Now I received a letter stating I am over 30 days past due and I owe them $48.54 with no explanation of why I owe it, what wasn't paid. I'm just supposed to pay it. When I called and spoke with a very rude individual who told me the service was really $36.09 and I didn't pay for everything when I only remitted $24.09. It was off by a penny from their advertisement but I wasn't going to squabble for a penny. No where in the signup sheet did it say I was really getting services for $36.09. It the old "bait and switch" and then charge them more for it. Since they did not achieve the above mentioned guarantees (it wasn't the lowest price, $24.08 became $36.09, I still have the weeds I started with and their service is lousy) I shouldn't owe them anything. I've had other services in the past and after the first treatment the weeds were gone and remained gone the entire time along with a beautiful, green lawn. He also left a sheet telling me what he sprayed for and crabgrass was one of them so why do I still have crabgrass. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!

If I could assign a 0 star rating, I would. I signed up for their service in early April. Even despite the virus, every day I saw all my neighbors' lawns being treated by different companies, and I thought now might be a good time to commit. I called them after full 10 business days because I had not heard anything from them. They told me they'd be out soon, but I had no contact from anyone. Another 2 weeks pass and I reach out again. They told me they'd be there soon. I had paid for an early spring and a late spring treatment as well as summer and fall, but early spring was quickly slipping away. Finally, a month later, I'm able to get them to come out, and I see zero results. My weeds were not any better, and the color of my grass hadn't improved in the slightest. Now, a few weeks later after lots of rain, I finally see my grass starting to change and it is evident that the company did not do their job. The machine rode around the perimeter of my yard and then made a U in my back and a couple of lines in my front yard - while somehow magically avoiding all my heavy weed spots. When I called and complained they said that the machine sprays an 11 foot radius, and I can clearly see that it does not. He also told me that new weeds grow up between treatments in new areas. I explained the weeds that I have are in the same areas they were when the company came out. And they were all present and are still present in my yard. He offered to come out and retreat the yard, but I told him since I have had no communication from them, and their first go-around was so shoddy, I had no faith they would fix their own mistakes. My yard currently looks worse than if I had not done anything at all. I canceled and called a new company on the same day. The new company has already emailed and texted when they will be out. It's unreal! My biggest complaint with them is their lack of communication and their defense of bad work. DO NOT go with them. You will be more frustrated than you think. In business for 35 years and this is what they produce. I'd say it's time to shut down, revamp your methods, and/or find better employees.

Hidden fees
They charge you with random [censored]s that just does not make sense. I cancelled the service a week ago because I did not see any lawn improvements from their service and I have to pay over phone because they cannot setup auto billing from their end. A week late I got a notice that I own them $38.43 of "increase CPN debit to SVC cost" that doesn't make any sense. They just want to charge whatever [censored] they can get away with.

This is my second year with this lawn company
This is my second year with this lawn company. In June,2021 I paid for the service provided. In July The billed for a spray that was never done. I called and they stated they would send someone to spray 3-5 days. No one came. I was sent a letter again. I called and advised they had not come out. On Sept. 20,21 a guy came out. I inquired if this was finally the treatment that had not been done. He stated no, that this was fall application (#4). I stated I had not received the previous. He stated he would put this in as a comp customer service, no charge because of the previous. Today 10/5 I received a letter requesting $97.07 for two services. I called and explained again. I was advised I pay the 97.07 and they would send someone today. I asked about the comp service and they stated no. I paid $47.81 on phone today for that service. In addition the company claims to have given me more services then I paid for and a collection amount to the a collection company. I am removed by the fact that the company continued to service my lawn beyond what I paid for - which is their stance; and would charge me as if I signed what for a subscription based program; when in fact I prepaid for everything I wanted.
I purchased services from TLC The Lawn Company in 2021. I did not wish to have their services after 2021, so made no effort to make a similar purchase in 2022. TLC sent a *** in 2022 for services they claim to have delivered in the spring. I informed them that I had made no effort to obtain their services for 2022 - they responded that services auto-renew. Nowhere on their website is this information made known to potential customers, nor was it stated on my 2021 purchase receipt or the 2021 confirming email. In the confirming email, TLC provided a link which one could click on to obtain more information about the services. Nowhere on the subsequent webpage is it listed that services auto-renew the next year.

Company never completed a year long contract on my lawn last year then began to charge me this year for what I already paid last year after they completed the service a month ago. But company has been paid in full and demanding $56.92. The company lied and said they have a money back guarantee if weeds are still abundant, weeds are all over my lawn and have been since last year being partially the reason I cancelled the service. The other reason was they kept trying to send me invoices last year saying I owed money and when I'd call they would assure me I didn't owe anything, now they're sending more bills saying pay within 30 days?!

They were hit and miss with their service never coming on time and since they are not local they had workers come for locations hour away to spray our yard. The lawn never looked like they did anything worthwhile but they sure took the money from my account like clockwork. Was happy to be done with them at the end of the season and had no plans to use them ever again. They showed up this spring without notice or my authorization when I was actually was out of town. I have no idea if they actually did anything. There should been a notice or some communication. They have no right just to assume I was willing to use them again in 2021 and think they could spend my money for me. I have called them several times and informed them of this and that I would not be paying any bill yet they kept sending bills upping the price each time of course and now have turned it over for collection. I want it canceled and removed.

Once we figured out they had been servicing our lawn, we called to cancel after they already charged about $150 to our credit card. They said to cancel the service, we would have to pay another 155.69 because the contract was already activated. We never authorized another contract with them. I called once to speak with a manager about the issue. I was told a manager would call me but they never did. I called back today, the man on the phone said he was a manager. Extremely rude. Called me a scam artist because we didn't realize they were servicing the lawn and said there is nothing I can do about the outstanding balance. This company is such a fraud. I wish I had read all the other reviews about their business practices before I gave them my credit card info.
I continued their service to fertilize my lawn from last year. Last year they fertilized the lawn partially which they corrected once. This year on March 23rd they came back and fertilized the lawn partially. From the time the van pulled to the time they left was about 2 minutes. My property is 0.26 acres less the drive way and the space the home sits on. On a rider fertilizer spreader their employee made one pass which did not cover the full lawn. The company has provided us with lawn treatment service for several years now. IT has been good up until this year. Just about every treatment we that was done was inadequate and did not cover what was suppose to be done. They stated they would put down weed and crabgrass killer, however all summer long our yard was saturated with them. Not just a spot or two here and there which I would consider acceptable. It was 30 foot sections by 10 foot wide that were not covered all over the yard. We had called the company several times and they stated they would do better the next time. That was not the case. I had quit paying for the service as there was no service being provided. The company was contacted and told to stop coming but then sent a bill for an amount to cover their cost. The amount should not be payed as they did not complete the service they were suppose to.

I started my yard service sometime in May with TLC because first payment was June 10 in the amount of $23.68 which I was to pay monthly until November. I explained initially about the brown spots in front and back yard. I was told a special treatment would be put down to take care of it. I would like to express my displeasure at the service provided by the company this past fall. I was able to overlook the multitude of problems with their billing office but I cannot overlook the damage done to my property during the aeration and overseeding that was completed to the amount of $844.07, paid by check *** and processed on 12/6. I came out of the house after the work was initially completed and saw grass-seed all over my driveway and parking pad, which is never a good sign. I cleaned it up as best I could at the time and hoped that was the end of it. As spring is emerging this spring, new grass in coming up ALL OVER my front flower beds. This is not a small amount, and it is going to take a lot of time and work, potentially another landscaper to come in and remove all the grass so we can mulch the beds this spring. I am seeking compensation for the damage done to my property in the amount of the cost of the work performed, $844.07. During that time, I did some online browsing at TLC The Lawn company, but I didn't realized I was accidentally signed up their contract since I never received emails or mails confirming this contract. I don't have any idea of what this contract was about. Then, two bills showed up at the my door, one is on 04/21 billed for $36.09 and another is on 6/16 billed for $90.23. We were puzzled by these bills because (1) we still didn't know about their contact from emails or mails; (2) by April 21, our front yard has no any grass but only plants and flowers. So how could they claim to fertilizer grass and weed treatment? (3) We have been working from home since mid March, we never see anybody from this company working on our property or knocked on our door. We thought this might be some scams. Then recently we started receiving letters from Transworld System Inc collecting a debt of $153.99. I don't think we should make any payment to this company because they tricked us into some unclear contract (no any further email or mail confirmation) and then claimed some services which were impossible to do for our property as I explained as above. Since it was already late Spring, the order would start with the "Late Spring Treatment. The first treatment was applied on 4/29. No happy with the results I called to request a free of charge reinforce treatment and, I requested detail on a charge that I received for $57.00. I spoke with "Tammy" a TLC employee, who told me: "DO NOT WORRY, DISREGARD THE INVOICE'. The reinforcement treatment was applied. On 6/8 the "Summer treatment was applied; the lawn didn't show much of improvement. Once again, I called TLC, and once again, I requested the reinforcement treatment and again to complain about a charge that I recently received. Again, Tammi told me "do not worry, disregard the invoice" The reinforce treatment was applied on 7/27. Tired of the situation I called TLC on 8/7 to cancel the order. A couple of weeks ago I received another invoice this time for $118. I called TLC again and this time I spoke with Hanna, who told me the charges were valid since the "Fall Treatment" was applied on 7/27 to my lawn already. Starting this year we contracted TLC to provide lawn care for our property. They have come a total of 4 times. 3 normal treatments and 1 retreat. Our lawn was 'normal' before they came, we now have 5 different types of 'grass' growing in our yard. 4 weeds and 1 actual grass. Their customer service department says 'we can send someone to retreat' - the problem just gets worse. I asked for a manager to come out and look so we can set up a plan of action to fix this issue. That has 'ok'd' but no manager has even called, much less come out to look at our yard. The problem just gets worse by the day. I asked for a full refund so I can take my business elsewhere and they said 'no, we can only refund 1 treatment'. I then asked for a receipt showing the refund, they said 'no, that isn't possible'. Then i asked for an email saying all of the services are on hold and there would be no more charges, Ashley's response was 'ok, i can do that, but i've received no email.' Lastly, i asked for an email with their cancellation instructions, Ashley in customer service responded saying 'email us or write a letter, someone will respond' We are trying to get our house ready to sell, this is making it worse. They have almost destroyed our yard in terms of weeds everywhere, and they have offered ZERO in terms of correction.

I received a flyer in the mail from TLC in March. I called the company to get a quote on some lawn services. I told the gentleman that I spoke with that I would need to talk to my husband about it. He asked if he could send me some literature for my husband to look over and I said that was fine. We ended up going with another lawn service. A few weeks later, I look outside, and there is a man treating my lawn. We weren't scheduled to have any treatment that day, so I went outside and there was a TLC van parked on the street in front of my house. I asked the guy doing the treatment what he was doing and did he have the wrong address. He said no and that he was treating my lawn with a weed and feed mixture. I informed him that I had never authorized any one from his company to come out and treat my lawn. He said he had been hearing that a lot lately. He apologized and left. I called the company and explained what happened and she said that my account had been closed and assured me that I would not be charged. On May 17th, I received a letter from TLC dated May 13, 2022, stating that my account is more than 30 days past due and my payment would be appreciated upon receipt of this notice. The charges are $371.73 for Customer Number XXXXXX. I never authorized this company to treat my lawn! I called the company on May 17th and talked to Michelle, and she assured me that the charges would be "written off". I would like verification IN WRITING stating that I no longer owe this company any money and they will not be sending me any other notifications.

I asked TLC guy that came to do lawn to tell them about my dissatisfaction I noticed after several "lawn services" that my lawn looked terrible. Weeds were taking over lawn as if they didn't apply anything however I was getting charged. Their receipts that they put on your door never had a phone # or email to contact them for complaints of service. So I emailed them numerous times without any return email or calls. One time I saw the lawn service guy come and I spoke with him and told him about my complaints. He said I could request to have them call me and schedule lawn care when I was home to witness that lawn care was done. He said he would leave a note on my account. This never happened. I recieved a letter in the mail that my CC payment didn't go through and this time the paperwork had a phone #. (Of note my CC was hacked and I had to cancel it) when I called I told the person that I had been complaining about my yard and that I would pay for the services however I was very dissatisfied and would be filing a complaint to Complaintsboard.com. She told me she would let "management" know. I then left a message last week again that my yard looks terrible and that I would like a refund. No return call. Instead I just got another charge on my CC for services. This should not be allowed and I am very dissatisfied that I paid for services that were subpar but that their company has NO customer service phone # or email and I've had to search for these things and no response when I have emailed or called. In March I signed up with TLC, The Lawn Company to care for my lawn. I agreed to the Full Season Lawn program and grub proofing. TLC would show up every 6 to 8 weeks spend 5 minutes on my lawn (I have a lot and a half) and leave. Leaving an invoice in my door. The weed application did NOTHING. I was very unhappy with the service and decided I would not renew in the new year. To be proactive, when I sent my next check in with the invoice, I told them I was unhappy with the service and did not want to renew the agreement with them for the following year and I was notifying them in writing, as stated in the agreement. I never saw TLC again. After about 6 to 8 weeks I received an invoice for 89.59. When I called TLC to ask why I was invoiced when they hadn't been out, they said I cancelled and that was my final bill. I told them I didn't cancel the current contract/agreement I was just cancelling for any services that would renew. I also told them if they finish out the program on my property that I would pay for all services rendered and completed but I would not pay them for nothing. They continue to invoice, refuse to continue the service and barely email me back. When they do email me they continue to say I cancelled the contract which I have stated EVERY time that I did not and I will pay them for services rendered if they come out to my property to complete the agreement I entered into with them. They refuse and now they sent me a bill for $115.69. I will not pay for services not rendered and I think it's highly unprofessional and illegal to break and agreement, not render service and then expect to be paid. What I expect out of this - either I owe them $0 or they complete the service to my property and I will pay them $34.70 for each of the 5 remaining applications. Customer #XXXXXX

I hired TLC to spray my lawn for weeds. I told them I had a dog and would like to be contacted when they will be here so I can make sure she's inside. I received no call and noticed that they just pulled up in their truck. I got off my chair and went to put on my shoes to go outside and talk to them and by the time I went out the side door, the truck was driving off. The bill was put in my mailbox for one spray application and one granular application with a spreader and that it would take one week to see results. After 8 days, I called them to tell them that my weeds are not dying and that I never got a call when they were coming. I was told that they do not call because of the virus! What does the virus have to do with calling a customers to make sure their animals are inside when they arrive'? I was told that they would come out again and spray again and I refused because if it didn't work the first time, I felt it was useless to try again. I told them that I was very dissatisfied with this service and ended the conversation. Now they keep sending me a bill for the $38.83 and told me that they will not credit me. How can I pay for something that I did not receive. I'm sure that I should have seen the weeds starting to die, but they showed no signs of this and my neighbor even commented that I got a "crappy job". I even requested that a Manager or Supervisor come out to look at my lawn and they said that the only option I have is to have the lawn down again. I also said that there was no way that he did a spreader application and a liquid application by the time I went to the side door and I was told that they are both applied to the lawn with the spraying application - which makes no sense to me and contradicts the bill that was put in my mailbox! This was the first year we used TLC and will never again. Their services do not work so in May I asked to have services cancelled and paid what I was told would cover the balance. In July when I received a bill for services I emailed TLC and asked why I received a bill when I cancelled and paid what the customer support person told me. I was told I never cancelled but that they will cancel the service. I never received an additional bill. Fast forward to today, 11/3, I received a collections notice so I called right away to the collection company and they also said to reach out to TLC. I called TLC and was speaking with Marc (he said his last name was a weird spelling and he is the only Marc in his department). At first he seemed to be helpful and said he will look into things because "we have a credit on our account." How can we owe money if there is a credit. Then he said well actually the 100.00 payment I made in May did not cover what was owed and so I owed 34.17 more. Then he said there was nothing they can do but refund a collection fee of 25.00. I was not happy with that since I cancelled and not my fault they customer support person did not do her job. He then began speaking over me when I was trying to explain the situation. I asked him to let me finish speaking but he continued to speak over me and telling me how wrong I was. He then asked if I had the cover letter to the coupon book they sent because that explains everything. I told him I only have the coupon book. He then began asking, "so where is the cover letter, what did you do with it?" I told him I must have thrown it away or misplaced it. Marc then said to me in a very condescending way, "well there was another mistake you made." I was in shock that this person who is supposed to be in customer service was so mean and trying to say even making a payment was wrong. I then asked to speak to a manager and he said she has to call back in a couple minutes. No phone call returned as of yet.

I am filing this complaint as I am being wrongly charge for services I did not approve as agreed, and the vendor The Lawn Company (TLC) provide to a home after I had sold it. TLC offered a fertilizing program for the 2020 season at 8 payments of ~$35 for 5 services, or 8 payments of ~$46 per service which included grub control. Since I was selling the home, I elected to go with a per service arrangement which was to be pre-approved or cancelled by me prior to the service being provided rather than the fixed planned they offered. They were to call me to notify me of the schedule service and I could then have it done or call them to cancel I would then immediately call and pay for the service once the service was completed. This work as expected for the first 4 services prior to me selling the home on 9/28. The fifth and final service was performed without any notification to me or my approval/cancellation on Oct 20, 2020. I just received an invoice on 1/25 stating the service provided on 10/20 and that the payment was late. It also included 2 late fees. Since I was not notified (they have my cell phone to call) of this service and I could not approve or cancel it as agreed with the TLC Sales agent when I setup the plan as they had done for the prior 4 services, I should not have to pay for an unapproved service, particularly a bill that arrives 3 months late and that I was not notified of when it would occur. How could I cancel something if it was not told when it was going to happen? I called TLC on 1/26 8:42AM to explain this to them. The person on the phone was not in a position to address this issue and stated that she would have a call me. The Supervisor never call. I wrote about this to them and they replied I never told them I moved. Since they never call to inform me that a service was scheduled., they did not give me the opportunity to cancel as they did for the prior 4 services. To settle this complaint TLC needs to cancel the invoice for the fifth service.

They were hired for lawn service and they guaranteed three things. The lowest price, guaranteed results and guaranteed unbeatable service. I received none of that. I signed up on April 27th. At the time I had dandelions, clover, grabgrass and violets. The first treatment was May 2 and a bill was left for $24.09 that I paid on May 15. He treated for weed control and grabgrass. The second treatment was June 12 and paid on June 22. Again, he treated for weed control and grabgrass. The third treatment was July 23rd and he treated for weed control and grabgrass. On August 3rd I called and canceled this service because I still had the weeds I started out with plus more. I also had spots where he burned out my grass. It looked worse than when he started. I paid the third installment on August 24th even though I felt I did not receive what I was guaranteed. Then I receive a letter stating I'm past due and owe them $48.54 with no explanation but that they will send it to my attorney if I want. I called and spoke to a very rude customer service person who told me the price was really $36.09, not $24.09 and that was what I owed. A week later I receive another letter and now it's $67.40 showing three installment charges for April 28th, May 28th and July 28th which I was never billed for and didn't receive any service. I know this because I work from home and he never showed up. There is also a "increase cpn debit to svc cost" (whatever that is) for $18.86. Also, on the days he did show up he never did anything to the backyard. I see now that this company has had the Massachusetts Attorney General after them and has had to make restitution for their unfair and deceptive business practices and debt collections. I do not feel I owe them any more money and they are actually lucky I paid them what I did since their guarantees were false. They were not the cheapest if I owed them $36.09 and not $24.09 which is what the invoice stated. Their results were guaranteed but I still have all the weeds I started out with plus burned out spots and their third guarantee of unbeatable service which wasn't because they never bothered to treat the backyard, only the front. This company intentionally charged me for an installment the day after I signed up that they never sent an invoice for and that I never received a service for, then two more after that, so they could later on charge me interest and a late fee.

TLC destroyed my yard, especially in the front
TLC destroyed my yard, especially in the front. They applied their product which killed my grass and allowed weeds to flourish with no TLC response. We contracted with TLC (The Lawn Company) approximately 2 years ago. They provided weed kill/fertilize service that we were fairly happy with, although we needed to contact them periodically to remind them of service need and/or complain about their service not working properly. Contact was via email and left messages - never talking to a person. In 2020, TLC sent an employee, of whom we had never seen, very late in the season to service our yard. By their machine tire tracks in our yard and the results of the service two weeks or more later, it was obvious the worker barely serviced our yard and what he did provide, he literally killed the grass while leaving weeds to flourish. Upon our complaint to the company, they sent another worker, the original one who worked on our yard, to 'fix' the problem by again applying their product to our yard. This service basically killed the remaining grass and left weeds to flourish. I have chronological photos of the situation and continuously sent them to TLC. In the fall of 2020, a TLC manager, Phil H, Jefferson, MD visited our house unannounced. I walked out to greet him where he said he was disgusted with what he saw and said he would make it right. This included aeration and seeding/sodding the yard and later applying their product as needed to make the yard look good as it once did. No payment would be needed until this is complete. About a month ago, Phil again stopped by unannounced and talked to my wife, who is a novice at lawncare and requested he talk to me, her husband. Since then, I've called and left messages at the number Phil gave us at least 5 times. I've also written the company via email (***@***) and through their company website. I've heard no response. In the meantime, TLC sent a worker to spray our yard, again unannounced. I luckily caught him about ready to spray the yard with their product. By spraying, this would have stopped their yard-fix correction by applying weedkiller and not allowing new grass seed to grow once they apply it. Their own worker told me this during his prior visits while I was reseeding spots. As their worker and I talked, he was unaware of what Phil and I discussed and he tried to call his/Phil's office with no one answering even his calls. The worker complained in a voice message he left them while I was talking to him. As of today, there has been no contact from TLC to inform us of how they will correct the problem. It's now Spring 2021 and weeds have taken over our yard. We plan to sell the home in a year and they now have created a situation that could affect the home sale. Also, it appears we, as a customer of theirs, TLC give permission to potentially destroy their lawn without later recourse as after service, it takes weeks to get a full view of their actions.
