Rebuilt Transmission
Website stated 7-14 working days for shipment.. after 30 days I cancelled and expected a full refund. After several emails and some strait out lies I did get a refund less 25% for “restocking fee”
This was his reason “Sorry you feel that way, but our refund policy clearly states NJ ALLOWS SIX WEEKS FOR DELIVERY OF ALL INTERNET SALES. Cancelled orders prior to that are subject to 25 % restocking fee. Nobody works for nothing. ”
He is just a scam and I am waiting to see if check clears the bank.
Desired outcome: Full refund since they clearly misrepresented themselves and false advisement

10/03/19 I called Toms River Transmission. Inquired about trans for my truck. They said they would build it and it would be a about a week to receive. I went to their website as instructed by the person on the phone. Ordered transmission by the only means of payment witch is electronic check. On 10/11/19 I emailed to see how much longer. He replied "Should get next week.". On 1025 I inquired. He told me that he was waiting for a converter and should be in the next day. On 10/30 he said he would check when he got to the shop. Never happened. On 10/31 I informed him I am going in for surgery and need this before them. Response... OK. 11/4 e-mailed again. told that the trans was not picked up today. maybe tomorrow. e-mailed each day. 11/06 he said he was switching shipping company's. 11/7 his response was "next week". 11/12 he responded 'Not yet, maybe today". Started looking into this business on goggle. After reading many, many BBB complaints and Horrible goggle reviews and seeing a pattern in many, it looks as though this man takes advantage of people that he tells that they will have their trans in one week and then lies for several weeks and then they finally cancel their order and have not read deeply into the fine print where it says that he can take 6 weeks to deliver even though he told you 1 week! He can then charge you 25% because you cancelled before 6 weeks. He seems to be making hi money on this scheme. I waited the 6 weeks. Got an e-mail back saying order cancelled and checked would be mailed per refund policy of having check in 2 weeks from cancelation. After 2 weeks I emailed again. Was told he does not control the mail as I have seen in other complaints. I informed him that I was ready to use a lawyer and BBB to get this done. I was told"Not interested in your threats. It was sent.". I told him to cancel that check and send one Certified. He finally did. From star to finish and have no trans it took 12 weeks to get my money back for no transmission.

Written - november 9, 2019. my parents sought assistance from a friend to locate a transmission for their ford explorer. tom's transmission appeared to have less expensive rebuilt transmissions. on august 27, 2019, the transmission was ordered. $1250.00 this business requires payment via electronic check. do not send this scam / fraud company any money!
Immmediately, they endorsed and cashed the check. weeks went by as I regularly contacted this business, via email, to ensure I have all correspondence documented. I inquired about the date of delivery for the transmission. j.r., lnu, would reply to emails that he was waiting for a part, waiting for a truck to pick up the transmission for delivery, all lies! fraudulent information sent accross states lines via email therefore, in violation of federal law. "interstate commerce."
I searched their business web page and finally located their refund policy. although I now know this "company" is a scam now, it states they have 6 weeks to ship the transmission. if your transmission is not received within six weeks, you must write them and request a refund.
Then, their site states they have an additional two weeks before they will mail you a refund. still contacting the business, I waited the six weeks required per their scam refund policy. I sent a letter requesting a full refund. two weeks later, I emailed this company to check on the status of the refund.
They emailed me that the check had been mailed. they did not mail the check so it could be tracked. a week later an enveople arrived with a check. a hand written / addressed envelope which appeared to be written by child or someone who could not spell / or is illiterate.
No company envelope with a business name etc.. the check was deposited. it would not clear. insuffient funds. this is in violation of the state of new jersey laws concerning bad checks / fradulent checks. to date, the refund check will not clear.
I will be fling legal action against this company. both a civil federal proceding and a civil proceeding in the state district court that has jusridiction concerning this business. if others have been ripped off by this company, I am willing to assist anyone with filing law suits against this company. you must have proper documents that verify your loss. (emails, recorded conversation, written correspondence, returned check etc..) there are statutes of limitations / time requirments to file proceedings. contact me and I will review your situation.
As of this date - insufficient funds concerning bad check sent me full refund. Never received transmission. SCAM COMPANY
Thank you so much for your review. I was in the process of buying a transmission from this company until I read the many reviews all stating just about the same thing. I hope that you are able to get your money back plus punitive damages and this company is forced to close down. I can't believe that this company is able to take advantage of so many people and still able to do business as usual. Good luck! I will be rooting for you.

transmission refund check bounced
My husband ordered a transmission from this company in June 19, 2019. To make a long story short, they did not deliver the transmission and on August 8, 2019 he requested a refund.
after being told the check had been mailed to him after the inquiry on 08/22/19 he waited until 09/14/19 and asked him to resend the check with a tracking number since the other one never came.

We purchased two transmissions with torque converters and a 3 year warranty for $2200.00 on 12/20/18. When purchasing the transmission we spoke on the phone. I was advised 3-5 days to build the transmissions and 3-5 days to ship the transmissions, also a 3 year standard warranty. On 1/5/19 I started emailing for shipping info and was disregarded, he kept stating the his shipper hasn't picked up from him yet. I started to research I have found several bbb names/aliese of the same company listed differently all with a and b ratings still but several stories and complaints of the same nature, no product, no shipping, no refund received, bounced checks of refunds ect and several postings online back to 2011 referencing the same fraudulent acts of lack to provide materials purchased and failure to send refunds, bounced refund checks and purposely delaying the processes and getting the customers to cancel to charge the 25% restocking fee when the default is by t. R transmissions, transmission specialist toms river, toms river transmissions, several business alises/names used for the same business. Simply this company is commiting fraud and taking peoples money, not providing a honest service, not shipping products, purposely delaying orders and charging restocking fees on his website but making promises on the phone to solicit business, 3-5 days to build products and shipping 3-5 days also 3 year warranties on the phone contradicting the website to get out of bbb complains, court proceedings and refunds. Its 2/6/19 still no refund received, yet 2/5/19 he tells the bbb he sent a check out! Fraudulent business

A week later I checked he said waiting on parts, a month later same thing, as per NJ state internet purchase laws I followed procedures and after 6 weeks I requested refund, I waited 14 days again as per NJ state...

First off if your thinking about ordering a transmission from toms river transmission also called transmission specialist don't!.
Save your self the time, money, and trouble and go with some that will not scam you out of your hard earned money. Here is my nightmare with this guy I called on the 24th of march 2018 placed an order sent funds via e-check jr told me on the phone that it will be shipped in 7 days from placing the order sounded like a great deal so I ordered it. Week 1, I emailed to see what the status was on the transmission and his reply was waiting on parts ok this happens no big deal. Week 2, waiting on parts. Week 3 he is trying to find a usable case also stated that if I can't wait I can cancel the order but I would have email saying that I wanted to cancel and I did just that. They emailed me back saying that I needed to refer to their policy and I did after they had to tell me where it was on that hack job of a website it was on the bottom in extra small lettering policy stated that they would take 25% for a restocking fee this is on something that they have not started building yet. I emailed back and told them not to cancel because I wasn't going to loose money. Weeks 4 and 5 I filed a complaint with consumer affairs in his county come to find out that this person has been scamming people for a long time the guy I talked to said that I should have read all reviews about this so called company and that this company has over 20 complaints on him and is being investigated. So I just sent an email this morning telling this jackoff that he is to cancel my order asap. I will loose money but my nightmare will be over.

I ordered a rebuilt transmission after he said I would receive it in 7-10 days after payment. After 3 week to a month I requested a refund, 3 weeks later it still hadn't arrived & I ask again, it finally showed up 100.00 short for "fees" even thought he cost me the sale of a truck that should have paid 4, 000.00.
I haven't cashed the check yet since it is a weekend but It wouldn't surprise me if it was NSF.
Total scam, not sure if this guy even sell's transmissions or just filters 100.00 off every customer.
This is a scam company
On 04/29/2015 I ordered a rebuilt transmission and trans cooler @ $1850.00 (this was paid by e-check that day), I was told would be shipped to my residence in 6 days but they told me call it 7 days to be safe ( 3 days to build it and 3 days for shipping. i called transmission specialist on 05/05/2015 to check status, was told almost ready to ship. I sent e-mail on 05/08/15 to check status as now 10 days, reply was" Sorry, just backed up waiting on parts. I can just send you a refund if you do not want to wait. No problem Thanks" after 4 e-mails back and forth I decided to hold a bit longer and finish deal. On 05/15/15 I sent new e-mail asking status again now over two weeks past due date, asked if they willing to do discount for extended wait or did we need to do refund they already had offered me. On 05/16/15 they cancelled the order and said refund check to be mailed to me. It took from 05/16/15 with multiple e-mails and them allegedly sending a check that never made it here, to finally get a check for incorrect amount of refund of $1387.50 stating that they decided to keep a $462.50 restock fee (mind you this is for product that they could not deliver) and now they will not try to resolve any part of deal. Also to top off entire deal the check they sent has been deemed void by my bank as he has wrote numerical line different from what is in number box on check, and now will not answer calls or return an e-mail to do any thing to fix poorly written check that is in valid. ( I do have all e-mails, phone records, and the fake check they sent. I can provide all of this as needed)

Beware misleading advertising
"No Core Charge"...not quite. Fail to return them your core and it "will result in termination of this warranty"
"Free Shipping to most U.S. Cities"...
not quite. They can send you a non operational piece of junk and will hold YOU responsible for all costs to return it for repairs and also from them to send it back to you..."no exceptions".
"Standard 12 Month, Unlimited Mileage, Limited Warranty"...not quite. Read the fine print as to what will "null and void this warranty" The answer...alot. It's the classic Catch 22. Any disassembly even to service (except by them) voids the warranty. In fact even removing the pan as you would to change the fluid voids the warranty.
Don't repeat my mistake. Stupidly I decided to do business with this company and $1600 later have a non functioning (failed almost immediately)
unit that they refuse to exchange, replace, refund, or even repair unless I pay all labor and shipping costs, which are huge, ...forever.
Do youself a favor...don't get suckered.
