Travelocity review: Refund problems! 7

I echo other complaints about obtaining a refund from Travelocity. During the summer of 2007 I purchased a domestic airline ticket through Travelocity. Although I later found out that a paper ticket was not required, I was informed by Travelocity at the time of purchase that a paper ticket was required. Unfortunately, Travelocity mailed the paper ticket to the wrong address, so I did not have the ticket when I began travel. I had to buy another ticket.

I filed a request for refund, but it has now been over six months since I traveled, and I have received nothing to date but additional emails. I do not know if I will ever receive a refund, but I do know that I will never use Travleocity again. The Customer Service Department makes it so difficult to obtain a refund that, I assume, most people just give up. I will advise friends not to use Travelocity if possible.

First problem was with a flight discrepancy. I checked to verify my flight and found out that it was different than was booked through Travelocity. When I called Travelocity, I was told that I needed to contact the airlines and to ask to talk to the airline representatives supervisor because that were telling Travelocity they were wrong. I should have not have had to deal with the issue. Finally it was worked out.

The last time was when I purchased a package deal (flight, hotel, and car rental). When I called to change to leave a day earlier, I was told that I could not get a return flight the day earlier. I went to the airline directly and changed to the day earlier for $100 versus the $125 Travelocity claims to charge. When I called back to change hotel and rental car, I was told they cannot change since it is pre-paid, even though they say they can make changes for $25 for hotel and $10 for car rental. Since they have my money in advance, they have no incentive to make the requested changes, so instead of spending $25 to save $75, and spending $10 to save $40, I have to check out early and return the car early with no compensation.

I've learned my lesson. Travelocity is NOT about customer service, and that's the last $ they will get from me.

Has anyone gotten a refund from Travelocity? Has anyone taken them to small claims court to get judgements to force the refund?

I'm having the same problem -- can't get a refund. I bought tickets for my husband, stationed in Afghanistan, to fly home for a vacation. Travelocity said we needed paper tickets; no problem, I gave them the APO address. It says all over their website that they can't use FedEx or UPS to APO addresses, it has to go by USPS. Fine, I purchased the tickets over a month in advance, plenty of time for the USPS to deliver them. But Travelocity apparently sent the tickets by FedEx, who of course returned them, and Travelocity sent me an urgent notification that they were not able to deliver the tickets.

So what do we do, I asked. They came up with a solution -- get new tickets printed at the airline counter, costs $50 re-printing fee, which Travelocity would reimburse. At the airline counter, my husband learns that they can't print those tickets because they were purchased by Travelocity, not my husband. They could see his reservation, he could prove his identity, but they could not give him the tickets because of the nature of the relationship between Travelocity and the airlines.

My husband had to buy new one-way tickets to get to the States on the day of travel, so of course it cost more than the round-trip advance price I had paid 6 weeks prior, so we're out over $1500 for the extra tickets. And we were still without tickets for the return. I called Travelocity so many times, and they finally said they could FedEx the tickets to my home address. We were on vacation, not at home, but we cut the vacation short to get home in time to get the package. Except they tried to deliver the package a week before we got home, even though we told them the specific date for delivery. That took several phone calls to FedEx to get them to hold the package until I could get home to pick it up, rather than sending it back to Travelocity after 3 attempts to deliver.

Of course I sent a letter of complaint to Travelocity about this, provided all the documentation they asked for, and have been sending regular requests for updates. I've been getting form letters apologizing for the delay, but the airline who couldn't issue new paper tickets hasn't responded to them yet, yadda yadda yadda. Since Travelocity failed to deliver the tickets and provided a solution that was unacceptable to the airlines, I think it's Travelocity's responsibility to refund, but they are saying the airline must refund.

Bought the tickets in Jun 2007, still waiting in Mar 2008.

I repeat what others have asked -- has ANYONE gotten a refund? Has anyone taken them to small claims court to force the issue?

Here's a couple of tips for whomever owns Travelocity: 1. Don't farm out your customer service to people who are incapable of performing their job functions. 2. You might want to look into Six Sigma because you have a serious breakdown in several processes which are costing you a ton of money. Speaking of costing you money...I won't be purchasing through your organization! Hopefully, this complaint will reach the eyes of others like me and cause them to spend their hard-earned money elsewhere.

I booked hotel through Travelocity in Lisbon and cancelled upon walking into hotel, because the conditions of hotel were horrific. I called Travelocity on hold for one hour, then they tell me there computers are down, I called again told me I should see a credit on my visa within 7 days, nothing for 2 weeks, I called again today told me a complete different story and said I was never charged. I am fuming and irate that Travelocity is a scam and so are there employees. I have put in a dispute with visa to settle this situation. I am completely disgusted. Travelocity needs to be put out of business. they need to get sewed for stealing peoples hard earned money.

Travelocity should be blocked from business in the US..they are obviously hiding offshore. Their posted customer service number of [protected] routes the caller to an international call on their dine. All Consumers beware of Travelocity!
