TurboTax "free" tax preparation

Went to the Turbotax website thinking (because my return was simple) I would be able to complete my tax return easily and then print it. HA!

They get you... and then they stick it to you and if you want to PRINT your return well, what do you know? There are FEES. Plenty of them. They wanted to stick me for $50. Screw it. I'll do it myself. I'll not be back. I don't like companies that don't let you know UP FRONT what you're getting.

I will let 10 people know how dissatisfied I am with Intuit's/Turbotax's DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES.

Thanks but no thanks!

TurboTax turbo tax

Yesterday, 4/9/2018, several mistakes were made to my account. I tried to upgrade my Turbo Tax to Home and Office. I went to the help menu but was unable to get the upgrade I wanted so I went into the Turbo Tax web site. After looking for awhile, I found where you could order what I thought was the upgrade I wanted. But it turned out that it was NOT the upgrade I wanted. I became flustered and clicked on Turbo Tax Deluxe and Turbo Tax Home and Business by mistake. I did not need Turbo Tax Deluxe since I already had it and Turbo Tax Home and Business was not the upgrade I wanted. I called and spoke with Anderson D. My case number is [protected]. Anderson did not fully understand what my problem was and he finally said they would reimburse me the $69.99 that they charged for Turbo Tax Deluxe and the Home and Business was available for download. I then went into the Turbo Tax web site but was unable to find the correct download. I then called Turbo Tax again and spoke with a very nice woman. We were on the phone for approximately 2 1/2 hours trying to get it straight. She was finally able to steer me to be place where I could download Home and Office which is the Upgrade I wanted and said there would be no charge of $40.00 after I explained to her that I had been charged $109.99 for something I did not want. The way I look at it is that you, Intuit, owe me $69.99.

TurboTax turbotax premier ($79.95)

I used TurboTax in the past without a problem. Now I live abroad, and after filling the TurboTax forms to file my taxes for 2017 found that my US credit card was declined. I called the credit card company (Capital One), who said that they had approved the payment, but it was declined at the TurboTax side. I tried another US credit card with the same result — the card was declined with no explanation.
I called Turbo Tax, and got a polite but totally helpless agent, who kept making promises but accomplished nothing. I called several more times, with the same result. Yesterday (April 9, 2018) I spent more than an hour on the phone with an agent (Rebecca) who again kept asking: "Give me one moment... I am using all my resources... I shall call you in an hour.." to no avail.
This is the most incompetent customer service I have encountered, ever.in addition, in an era of globalization, with many Americans living and traveling abroad, one might imagine that TurboTax will find a way to collect their fees — PayPal, or some other form of electronic transfer, if their system cannot handle a credit card.

We had the same thing happen . It turns out we had to go back to the beginning of the taxes where it asks for address in there you put the U S address where your credit cards bills are sent then you can pay. But you must go back again and change the address to your current one outside the US before you actually file.

TurboTax fee complaint

Hello, my name is Patricia glavin. I have used Turbo Tax for many years now, and I have never had any problems until yesterday. After doing my taxes it was time to pay before I could continue, so I put in my credit card for the $39.99 product. When I was finishing up my taxes, I decided to check my receipt and realized I paid for the $39.99 and the $59.99 deluxe. I have very basic taxes and would never need the $59.99 deluxe. Well, after talking to 2 different customer service people and over 2 hours later, I was informed that I was only getting a refund of $21.00 back. I paid for a service I did not need and really do not understand why it is near impossible to get the deluxe package refunded. I also do not understand why if a mistake, even after payment, is made I do not have the chance to fix it. I am very upset about this. I am a customer and asked for a refund and was told no refunds but we will give you back $21.00out of $59.99 for a service I clearly did not need. I really do not know how the 2 payment packages were clicked and I did not even have a chance to go back and start over to fix it. I was not asking for anything unreasonable I just wanted the mistake refunded. I am on a budget and cannot afford to lose this money. In any store If I were to purchase a product and realize I did not need it, I would happily get a refund. Suffice it to say, I will not be using Turbo Tax ever again in the future. I hope your refund policy is worth losing customers!

TurboTax turbotax free

I've been using this service for years now for FREE. This time, they charged me $71.98 and told me that they would issue a refund to me after my taxes were completed. I was told that a check has been issued out to me the first week of March, so I've been waiting for that check...a month later, still no check. So now I've been on the phone with them (while at work) for over an hour now just waiting to get a resolution, when finally someone came back to the phone and told me that because the last rep didn't put any notes on my account, that they would not be able to issue me a refund! What?!?!?!? what do I have to do with someone not noting the account? And what does this have to do with the refund policy to your customers? I'm highly pissed and I won't stop until I get answers!

TurboTax green dot

Well I filed my taxes on the last day of January I still haven't received a turbo tax card. Its Ben three months. I suggest not using this its a rip off. I spent all day trying to get to talk with a live real person. Still have had no luck. I reckon that I just won't be getting my refund of 691$. I've come to believe that maybe that's why Green dot and turbo tax has ao much money.. From ripping people off. To be honest with you I don't care what either of these two multi million dollar companies say.. I say [censor] u!

TurboTax turbotax online free version - highly deceptive business practices

Highly deceptive business practices. Was using their online free version in March 2018 for filing 2017 taxes, knowing in advance that I would pay $29 for state filing. TurboTax attempted to force me to upgrade to their Deluxe version for $59, even though I used their screening tool at the beginning to determine appropriate versions to use. As a first-year retiree, I had no deductions, only income as stated on W-2 and 1099-R forms. The screening tool advised that the free version was a legitimate option based on my tax status so I went through the entire filing process including entering highly sensitive personal and tax information. Was not flagged that the free version did not cover income from 1099 forms until the very end, even though this information was entered in the beginning of the data entry and import processes.

I have been a TurboTax customer since at least 2010 with saved PDF files to prove it but received no assist from TurboTax after two calls to their customer service line. I deleted my online TurboTax return and instead are going with an IRS recommended free tax software vendor. TurboTax just lost a lifetime customer.

Yes, once you reach the upgrade paywall there is no way out other than pay the toll or delete the return. Very deceptive business practices as they did not flag this information early on as they obviously count on people being short of time and patience to start over again and go ahead and pay the toll. The sad part is that we were a great team when I was a homeowner before retirement and found the deduction tool to be the best around. My need for using the free version is only temporary as my income and tax status will change again in the years to come, making it necessary to use a more advanced product like TurboTax Deluxe. I am now telling everyone I know about my experience with Intuit corporate practices and they are likely to lose more that just my business. A lose-lose story for sure but Intuit will lose much more in the end.

TurboTax an advisor by the name of chenequa chambliss

Ms.Chambliss was a preparer at Liberty Tax recently and was fired for fraud and stealing money from our clients. She was recently arrested and has to return to court in a couple of weeks. Clients have also filed police reports against her. This issue cost our office money and we were also being investigated behind these acts. I'm sure this is not the kind of person you want to advise your clients.

TurboTax turbotax basic/deluxe

I downloaded turbotax basic and paid $52.00 ($49.99 + $3.00 tax) and cannot get it to open on my macbook. I have os10.10.5 and do not plan to upgrade. I went ahead and filed my taxes a different way. I had to file my husband and I as married filing separately because we live in two different states right now. This means I had to pay two times for turbo tax to access two states and separate filings. I paid $139.97 for turbo tax deluxe (it made me) product to file myself and two states and then another $99.98 (also made me buy deluxe) to file my husband's because it makes you pay for federal and state for each person. Can I please get a refund? For any portion of this? This was a huge disappointment and so stressful. We are teachers and do not have hundreds of extra dollars to pay for things we do not need. I am so sad that this was not at all easy to do or more accessible. This cannot be an uncommon situation, so I don't understand why there wasn't a standard way to access state-only filing. Thank you for any help!

TurboTax turbotax2017

I purchased TurboTax 2017 through Amazon on a CD. It was only the Federal + efile. Did not include State function all for $36. Did not realize I only had the Federal version. I could purchase federal and state deluxe version for $45. The upgrade to Premier costs $30 more or $45 more for adding the State version. Why would anyone only need the federal version and why does an upgrade to a state version cost so much? But more importantly, one TurboTax label looks like another and it is very misleading not to include the state filing software or at least note it in bold.

TurboTax online services

TurboTax/Intuit is a complete ripoff; I used/paid for their services since 2010 and this year will be the last time. They trick you into paying for this and that for things that should be free when filing taxes online. If you want to add expenses; you have to pay extra, if you didn't/forgot; you have to pay twice more! I just called their so-called expert who couldn't figure out the simplest thing on their own website and ended-up telling that person that I was through with TurboTax. In fact, I will file a complaint and dispute the charges. Shame on them!

TurboTax 2014 taxes rejected

So i just realized that for some reason my 2014 state taxes was rejected. Turbo tax didn't notify me at all about this and i assumed everything was OK until i received a call from the IRS! And your unhelpful website doesn't even tell me why it is rejected! The thing that makes me the most upset is i cant even get a live person on the phone to help me. I do not want to speak to a robot! You guys are a huge business and i expect to receive help when needed instead of just hearing a robot repeat herself over and over. I will also be making a complaint to the BBB because people should know what they are getting themselves into. I expect you guys to look up my account and fix my rejected return!

TurboTax misleading promotions for its online products. avoid turbotax online products!

(Turbotax Support ID: [protected] )
I saw TurboTax online promotion in February 2018 which listed $50 for the premier, and decided to use it instead of purchasing a disk for 2017 tax filing. I followed the promotion linkage on Turbotax website and logged in to my account in February, and then completed my tax preparation in late March. When I was ready to file, Turbotax website asked me to pay the full price which is $80.

I called the customer service and the lady on the phone said the following: (1) I had to complete and "file the tax return by the end of February " to get the promotion (2) reminder emails were sent to me. (3) Since i found this promotion from dealnews.com, I did not access the Turbotax "correctly". She kept saying that I used a third party to access Turbotax and implied that's why I was not getting the promotion.

My opinions:
(1) If customers followed the TurboTax online promotion ad and logged in during the promotion period, the customers should be given the discount regardless his/her time of filing. Such promotion requiring filing deadline by February for instance is a total misleading and a ripoff trick.
(2) I did not get any email reminders saying that I need to file by the end of February to get the discount.
(3) The customer service lady had a wrong understanding of the third party website where I saw the turbotax promotions, and she was firmly holding on her theory that the third party website took me to a wrong TurboTax address.

TurboTax 2018 tax services

Yup' much like everyone else, my tax refund has been put on hold due to the IRS Path Act and I'm now looking at zero refund after 2+ months after filing. But good ole TurboTax, which still has my account online listed as getting a gerund Feb 28, is still going to take out their $225 fees this coming week for services not rendered! Never, ever again! Pay up front then when the IRS goes deaf, they.. even with the so called "audit protection" do zilch, notta'nothing! Scam

TurboTax turbotax premier disk and online

The only thing worse than TurboTax software is their customer support. Bought the disk version first, which was buggy and crashed and finally went into a do loop I couldn't get out of it once I got to the state return. So, I went to online version, which of course meant I had to buy the product again.
Got to a relatively simple question about how to apply a payment I'd made via a portion of last year's refund. I contact customer support online and it is indicated that someone will call in 5 minutes and they do. This person knows absolutely nothing, but she is going to put me in line to wait another 27 minutes. So they call back and their is no one on the line...just silence.
I finally give into their $40 extortion to skip paying their fees by credit card and just take it out of refund. So I think I'm working my way yo the end and I'm giving drivers license numbers and agreeing to getting had with paying $40 more and I get to a point where it says the bank they are going to screw me with wants more info and I need to got back to the "My info" section and correct something. Well, there is nothing to correct, so I'm back to a stone wall and going back to their nonexistent customer support. So now I'm waiting 33 minutes to see if they call back and there is actually someone on the other end of the line and that they might know how to solve the problem.

what happen? They use to be so good. Non existent support. It took three days for me to find a way to install from a disk. There software is buggy. 2 days after the deadline I still am not able to file my state. The app puts me in a loop checking for state app. State app doesn't need update. I click start state and It'sand asking me to pay for state. I had deluxe plus state. I foolishly payed $$ for state trying to meet the deadline. But still in a loop. I've been a customer for 10+ years. but now. No more.

TurboTax amazon gift card promotion

I filed taxes for myself January 23, 2018, after I filed I got a referral code to refer a friend, they get 20% off, I would get a $10 Amazon gift card. I do my friends taxes that I sent the referral to, she got 20% off her amount and I never got the gift card. I've called Turbo Tax customer service multiple times, I was told it takes 45 days so I waited the 45 days. The last couple times I've called I've been told to call Amazon, to which Amazon said Turbo Tax buys the Amazon gift cards and has an agreement with Turbo Tax but if there's an issue to call them. Today I called and was told that it was sent to my email, then the story changed to since my friend and I are existing customers that the promotion didn't apply to us. When I said my friend got the 20% off and asked how that happened if she's an existing customer I was told she did not get the 20% off, essentially calling me a liar. So I said she has her receipt from when her taxes were filed then it changed to 'well she just got lucky'. Really, it's a $10 gift card, I don't care other than this being very misleading, false advertisement and basically calling me a liar. This is how they treat a loyal customer and it was very discouraging. I was told there were no supervisors to speak with and nothing that could be done.

TurboTax refund policy

I bought Turbot CD from SAMS club. When calculating my tax refund it did not seem correct. I decided to go to a different vendor and found out turbots was off about $400 dollars not in my favor. Turbot claims to have a 60 day money back guarantee but that is a lie. They only allow you to return the product if you bought it from them and not another vendor. SAMS club will not take it back and now I am out an additional $60. I cannot believe they will not honor their "Guarantees". I will not be using Turbot again will definitely be letting people know not to trust this company.

TurboTax misleading information

Price is very expensive I asked the rep what's the difference with free and turbo deluxe she said you get more refunds. That was totally a lie. I found out from different people that refund is same just the difference with deluxe which is 59.99! Is that you have more information to file different tax forms you receive. They try to make you buy the expensive one and give you false information. The prices are ridiculous And can't trust some of the reps. Hope no one makes the same mistake I almost did and the company need to make sure they tell the truth.
