Lack of any concern
I ordered July 26, 2024. They said it would take roughly 15 days, if not sooner. A month later, I finally checked and they had no status update. Apparently, they themselves have to request a status check, only AFTER you request one, to the county in question. Cook County, Illinois. For another month, I had to wait on status updates and they could not get a hold of them, saying they could only send status checks on Mondays, for whatever reason. I would think a third party website would have their own internal option for checking status. Still no word. I eventually had to request a full refund. How can they not have a better working relationship with one of the biggest counties in the country? And they absolutely did not care either way. If I had needed this immediately, or even in few months, I would have been horribly disappointed. It is so lucky that I am working ahead by a year.
Recommendation: Avoid--it sounds easier than dealing with the County but it will take months and then be left with nothing.
Robbing single parents!
I am a divorced working mother of 5, raising my children by myself. Upon the decision to remarry, I ordered a copy of my divorce records from VitalChek. The only piece of information I do not have is the actual date of my divorce. I received an email from VitalCheck stating that my order cannot be completed. Upon my asking for a refund of my almost $70, I was told that they will not give me a refund even though they cannot provide the service I paid for.
Kindness is alive and well at Vitalchek
- Even though my order was shipped back to the sender by UPS because I didn't pick it up in time, Vitalchek went the extra mile and contacted the sender to have it mailed to me AGAIN via USPS for free. This is a good company that cares about the satisfaction of their customers: Even though they were well within their rights to have me repay a processing fee without doing a thing, they fixed MY mistake in order to secure my satisfaction. I definitely recommend them to anyone ordering records.

Many Docs, Zero Problems
I have personally used VitalChek many times over the past several years, most recently to obtain birth certificates for myself and my son (Maryland and New Jersey, respectively). On both occasions, the transaction went through smoothly and I received the documents in a very quick turnaround. In fact, with my son's certificate, I was anticipating issues due to a very sudden move, but VitalChek worked with me to coordinate hand delivery of the document to our new address, with no extra costs. I highly recommend them.
Read these reviews and got scared BUT
I went ahead and ordered an official copy of my birth certificate and despite the bad reviews everything seems to be great. It delivered earlier than it said it would. My estimated time was October 5th, and I received it this morning September 24th. I ordered it on September 7th. I had filled out all the online info correctly, and I think that may be why I had no issues. No need to talk to customer support. A. gov website recommended me this this site somehow, and I was skeptical, but it worked out perfectly. If you're in a pinch this will work out just fine.
Honest, real customer here
I read all the bad reviews about this company, right after I purchased my birth certificate. I was nervous, but too late. I needed it for the new flight policy for drivers license. Believe it or not, God as my witness. I received my copies over night by UPS. I was very blessed considering all the bad reviews that I read. I instantly went and got my new driver's license to board a plane if ever needed. The DMV took my birth certificate copy with no problems whatsoever. That is one less worry and very happy that I did decide to go with VitalChek! Good luck to all. God bless
Birth certificate
I have read some negative reviews but I can honestly say that I had the very BEST experience and am so grateful. I do feel for those who can't say the same. I ordered my birth certificates on Monday afternoon and received a confirmation that I would have my bc by the 5th. I received them on Wednesday the 31st. This was less than 48 hours from the order placement. I was able to mail them to the passport agency the same day. I am VERY grateful! The passport agency denied my original bc so I was in a rush and VitalChek opened the possibilities of me still being able to get my passport. I have even mentioned my experience to people I know in case they ever find themselves in the same position. Thnak you!
Great Company
I placed an order on July 22nd 2021 for my birth certificate. I was born in American Samoa! I read the negative reviews about VitalChek and took a risk. A month passed by and I was beginning to believe the negative reports. I checked the status of my order and one of the representatives told me to wait another 60 days for processing. I called the customer service line and was on hold for almost one hours and twenty minutes. After two weeks of constantly emailing their company- I accused of them of scamming me and wanted a refund. Unfortunately, they're not scam artists. This company is legit. I received my birth certificate today Sept 11,2021. Don't believe the negative reports about how they never received their birth certificate or it was torn to pieces when it arrived. The only thing that vitalcheck needs to work on is their customer service line. I am satisfied that this company fulfilled their part. I apologize for playing the irate customer. This is what happens when you fall victim to negative reports. Take it from me- Vitalcheck is legit-
VitalChek Review: Frustrating Experience Getting Marriage Certificate from Overseas
I live in a different country and needed to get a marriage certificate from the County of San Francisco. They told me to use VitalChek, so I did. The first time I tried to get a copy, I found out that I needed to get it notarized by a US notary or government office. I was frustrated because I had already paid VitalChek and the County of San Francisco. They sent me a note saying that an international notarized request was not acceptable. I did some research and found out that an apostille would make my international request a legal US document. The US accepts documents that are ratified by an apostille, which is a document that is signed by the Geneva Convention.
I sent another request through VitalChek with my passport and my apostille document. However, I received a notice saying that the Order Numbers didn't match and the notary date did not match the apostille date. I was confused because the order numbers don't matter outside of VitalChek, and the dates of the notary and the apostille won't match because you have to get it notarized first and then send it to the Dept of Foreign Affairs for apostille.
I complained to VitalChek, but they didn't do anything to help me. I am so frustrated with this company that takes your money and doesn't do anything to help you. I am ready to file a legal complaint against them. I will also report them to the County of San Francisco and tell them about their shady dealings. They should find a better way to issue documents to people who live overseas.
In conclusion, I would not recommend using VitalChek. They are not helpful and will take your money without doing anything for you. Find an alternative way to get your documents unless you want to lose your money.
VitalChek Review: Terrible Customer Service and Misleading Time Frame
I gotta say, I'm pretty bummed out about my experience with VitalChek. I was really hoping to get a copy of my birth certificate through them, but it turned out to be a total letdown. I put in my order way back in March, and they told me it would take 20-25 business days to get my hands on it. That seemed like a long time, but I figured it was worth it to get it done quickly and easily.
Well, let me tell you, it was anything but quick and easy. When the 24th business day rolled around and I still hadn't gotten my certificate, I decided to reach out to their live chat support. They told me not to worry, that it would be shipped out the next day. But guess what? I never got a shipping confirmation email. I was getting pretty frustrated at this point, so I decided to send an email to their support team.
Their response was not what I wanted to hear. They told me that my order was going to take 12-14 weeks to process because my state's Department of Health was still working through orders from December. What the heck? That was not what I was told when I placed my order. I felt like I had been misled and taken advantage of.
So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I sent a request form directly to my town's vital records department, and you know what? My birth certificate arrived in less than a week. And get this - it only cost me $20! That's a far cry from the $70 I paid VitalChek for their shoddy service.
Honestly, I feel like I got scammed by VitalChek. Their customer service was terrible, and they didn't communicate with me properly. The time frame they gave me was completely off, and the cost was way too high. I'm really disappointed in their service, and I want a full refund for the terrible experience I had.
If you're thinking about using VitalChek for your vital records needs, I would strongly advise against it. Save yourself the hassle and go straight to your local vital records office. Trust me, it's worth it.
Disappointed with VitalChek's Service: Payment Issues and Lack of Communication
I ordered my birth certificate from VitalChek on January 17th. Unfortunately, they were unable to process my credit card payment and did not contact me to let me know for two whole weeks. I only found out when I went to check the status online and finally received a notice that my payment had not been processed. I decided to contact them on January 31st to see what was going on. I spoke to a representative who processed my payment, but when I asked her why the online form still stated that my credit card was declined, she told me not to worry about it and that it would be updated.
I was relieved to see that my credit card had processed on my end, but a week later on February 7th, the VitalChek online form still stated that my payment had been declined. I decided to call back again and stayed on hold for 15 minutes while the service representative checked on it. She asked me if she could process my credit card again, but I told her no since I could already see that it had gone through my bank on January 31st. She put me on hold again to talk to her supervisor and came back to tell me that it was a computer glitch. Although they could see that my payment had been made, the system didn't update it. She couldn't fix it, and neither could her supervisor. They had to get a second supervisor involved and call me back.
Finally, an hour and a half later, they called me back to confirm that my payment had gone through on January 31st and that they had just now sent my request to the state to get my birth certificate. I was frustrated that they had sat on my payment for a week without notifying me. If I hadn't called to check, they would have just kept my money and not submitted the request. It had already been three weeks, and I could have just submitted my request directly to my state vital records office and not paid VitalChek to just hold my money and do nothing. I'm still a month out from getting my birth certificate.
To make matters worse, I just checked my order status online, and it still says payment declined, ironically with a green checkbox. The odds of me actually receiving anything are not looking good. I plan to call back later today when I am more calm and less shouty to find out why it still says "payment declined." Overall, I am disappointed with my experience with VitalChek.
Avoid VitalChek: A Scam Company That Charged Me for an Order I Never Placed
Wow, what a complete disaster! I was in need of a certified copy of my marriage license and decided to use VitalChek to get it. However, when I got to the final page before placing the order, it asked for my social security number. Being cautious, I opened a new tab to quickly check if the website was legit. While that page was still open, I received an email thanking me for my order and showing a receipt for a $25 charge for a new marriage certificate. I was confused because I hadn't even entered my social security number or clicked 'place order' yet. But when I checked my bank statement, the charge was there from VitalChek.
Two weeks later, they contacted me and said they needed more sensitive information to fulfill my order. I immediately let them know that I never placed the order, never gave them my SSN, and that they charged me for something I never ordered. However, I received three different responses from them. The first person said they couldn't find any evidence of any charge or any order, which is ridiculous because I had an order number and a screenshot of the bank charge. The second person said that any question about charges or cancellation needs to be done through the Maryland Vital Records Office, which is strange because I never interacted with them. The third person simply said they weren't sure how this could have happened and ended the conversation.
Thankfully, I was driving up to Maryland that weekend and was able to get what I needed for only $5.50. However, I still haven't been refunded the $25. I'm not going to pursue this any further because it's such a small amount, but they definitely stole this money from me the moment I put in my bank info. It's clear that everything about this company is a scam. I highly recommend avoiding VitalChek at all costs.
VitalChek Review: Elderly Woman Scammed Out of $90 for Divorce Decree Needed for VA Benefits
My mom needed a divorce decree to get her VA benefits, so she went to VitalChek to get it. It's been half a year and still no decree. When she checked the status, it said that the "time has passed to process." They gave her a phone number, but they don't answer or take messages. They took her money ($90), but they won't return her emails asking for the status. She only has three months left to get this to the VA, or she'll lose all the benefits for this year. I told her they're stealing from the elderly, and it's not right.
Finally, they responded with the statement below. They claimed I never responded to their previous emails. I forwarded the emails showing my responses and dates. They then sent an email stating there were no records. I reminded them I had a photocopy of the divorce decree, so there were records.
VITAL CHEKS RESPONSE
"New York State Vital Records has responded to our inquiry regarding the status of the order stating that no record was found and that they will send you a certificate stating such."
Their next ridiculous response, which I just received, stated that I should reorder and pay them again. And they are still claiming the information given to them was incorrect even though it came directly off the divorce decree.
VITAL CHEKS RESPONSE
"If the information within the order is inaccurate, they stand a high chance of not finding the requested record.
You may also place a new order, making sure to enter the most accurate information possible, so the correct vital records office receives the order."
And when I told them that was ridiculous, this was their response.
VITA CHEK RESPONSE
"Response By Email (Andrew A.) (09/14/2021 05:20 PM)
Dear Customer,
I apologize for any confusion, but this order is closed. The vital records office determined that no record could be found. This completes the order process, and I apologize if VitalChek did not meet your expectations."
This is inexcusable. My mom needs that decree to get her benefits, and they're just telling her to reorder and pay again. They're stealing from the elderly, and it's not right. They took her money and won't give her what she paid for. It's been six months, and they still haven't given her anything. They're not answering her calls or emails. They're just taking her money and running. It's not fair, and it's not right. They need to give her what she paid for, or they need to give her money back. It's that simple.
VitalChek Review: Terrible Customer Service and Runaround for Vital Records Orders
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough experience with VitalChek. It all started when I needed to order some vital records from the Monroe County, NY office. Let me tell you, it was a real headache trying to figure out where to go and who to talk to. I even tried ordering an amended birth certificate through the state website, but that didn't work out either.
Eventually, I was told by someone in the office that I had to order through VitalChek. So, I went ahead and applied, and they took my money. But then, even though the state of New York said my application had gone through, VitalChek said they needed all my information again and that I should call them.
Now, normally I wouldn't mind calling customer service, but let me tell you, there was absolutely no customer service to be found. I pressed the number 2 because I had already ordered my certificate, and I waited a whopping 45 minutes just to talk to a representative who wanted to know if I wanted to order a birth certificate. Another 45 minutes later, and I was still waiting for a "specialist."
But here's the real kicker: they wanted information as it appeared on my birth certificate, but I'm adopted and the state of New York never issued me a proper long-form birth certificate with the names of my adoptive parents. All I have is a registration certificate that doesn't do me any good.
As of this posting, I've been on hold for a whopping 2.5 hours. I mean, come on, VitalChek, get it together! I understand that they have a partnership with the vital records agency, but that doesn't excuse the lack of customer service and the runaround I've been getting. If you're looking to order vital records, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
VitalChek Failed to Deliver: No Refund, No Birth Certificate, and No Customer Service
So, I was trying to get a copy of my birth certificate from New York State, and they sent me to VitalChek's website. I called them up on June 8th, 2021, and they told me it would take 35-40 days to get my birth certificate because of the pandemic. I wanted to make sure they could get it to me by August 6th, so I called them up to confirm. They said they could, so I gave them all my info and paid over the phone.
I checked the status of my order online right away, and it said it would take 35-40 days. But now it's been 58 days, and it still says it will take 35-40 days. I've called them a bunch of times to ask about my order, and every time they push the date back further. When I called on August 3rd, they told me it would take a minimum of 16 weeks, but I could get a refund if I wanted. I decided to try another way to get my birth certificate, so I called the city where I was born. They sent it to me in just 4 days, with no hassle at all.
After I got my birth certificate from the city, I called VitalChek to get a refund like they said I could. But they told me they don't give refunds, and I have to contact New York State to get one. I told them I paid them, so they should give me a refund or contact New York State themselves. But they wouldn't do it. So I called the number they gave me for New York State, and it just disconnected after a recorded message.
Now I'm really worried about what VitalChek is doing with my personal information. I don't think anyone should use this company, because they won't give you what you need and they won't give you your money back.
My Nightmare Experience with VitalChek: A Review
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough experience with VitalChek. I needed a certified copy of my mom's death certificate, but with Covid going on, I couldn't just walk into the Vital Statistics office in Oklahoma. So, I turned to VitalChek. And let me tell you, it was a real hassle.
I started the process on May 2nd, but I didn't get the certificate until May 21st. That's almost three weeks! And it wasn't easy. First, I had to fill out their form and send it back with a non-certified copy of my mom's death certificate (which clearly stated that I was her daughter) and a copy of my driver's license. But then I got an email saying they needed more information. They listed a bunch of stuff I didn't have, like a court order or probate info. I tried calling them, but I was on hold for almost an hour before I gave up.
So, I sent them a copy of a credit union statement that my mom and I were both on. I never took her off because I don't use the credit union much anymore. I tried calling them again, and this time I got a real person after 30 minutes. She was nice and helpful, and she told me to send a copy of my birth certificate along with the request. So, I did. And they sent me a certified copy of my birth certificate without much trouble.
But then I sent that certified copy of my birth certificate to them, thinking that was all I needed to get my mom's death certificate. Nope. I got another notification saying they needed more information. I was at my wit's end. I called them again, and this time I was on hold for a really long time. When I finally got through, the person told me to send a copy of my marriage license. I was about ready to dig up my poor mom and get a DNA test at that point.
It was a total nightmare. It cost me $80 for both certificates, and I spent hours looking for my birth certificate and marriage license and scanning and uploading them (I'm 67 and not very tech-savvy). My advice to anyone using VitalChek is to keep your documents somewhere you can find them and use a service where you can actually talk to a real person in a reasonable amount of time.
VitalChek Review: Poor Service and No Refunds for Missing Birth Certificates
I recently used VitalChek to order five birth certificates, and unfortunately, my experience was not a positive one. I paid a total of $451.90, including extra for UPS shipping, for two certificates from New York State on October 22, 2021, at $113 each. However, only one certificate arrived on February 18, 2022, and the other never came. I also ordered two certificates for my twins born in Arizona on October 17, 2021, for a total of $111, but they never arrived either. Finally, I placed another order for a New York State certificate on May 30, 2022, for $113, as I still needed it.
When I called VitalChek for help and a refund, I was told that the agent had worked on my order in February 2022, but there was a question regarding my father's name, which was not on the certificate. I was never notified of this issue, but I provided the information to help expedite the process. However, I learned that if an agent does not take specific steps to mark an order a certain way, the agent who has the order will never be notified unless they decide to review it again. This is frustrating, as they are severely backed up, and it took four months to look at my order for the first time.
To prove that I needed the certificate and had paid for it again, I verified the successful and unsuccessful orders and provided the new order number. After a two-hour phone call, I was told that New York State refunds less than 1%, and the VitalChek agent could only refund me $23.50 for shipping, as the rest went to the state agency. I was not given the contact information for the agency, as VitalChek employees are not allowed to release it due to the money they are pocketing.
I am a single mother of four, and I do not have $500 to waste. I am grateful for the one certificate I received, but it has been over eight months, and this is not fair. I have all the email confirmations, order numbers, pin numbers, and the same address, phone number, and bank information, with no changes on my end. It is maddening to wait for them to contact UPS and prove that the certificates did not get delivered.
The agent also told me that New York State is more tricky, as they have two options: New York, which means New York State, and NYC, which means New York City's five boroughs. If you click the wrong one, they tell you it was your error, not theirs, and there is no refund. This is not right, and I will be reporting them and staying on them.
I wish I had known what I know now, as there are ways to order directly from your state's department website, which may give you a better chance of success. I hope this review helps others and saves money in their pockets, not VitalChek's.
Review of VitalChek for Ordering Louisiana Birth Certificate
I needed a copy of my birth certificate from Louisiana to renew my driver's license in Texas. I've been living in the US for almost 80 years and have had a driver's license issued in Texas for over 30 years, but I still had to prove my citizenship. Louisiana is a closed records state, so I couldn't order a birth certificate through a Texas government agency. I live on the East side of Houston, so driving to New Orleans to personally request a copy was not an option. The best option was to make an online request.
Louisiana does not accept online credit cards, only checks and money orders, for issuing copies of birth certificates. However, they partner with and recommend VitalChek, which does accept credit cards and charges a small fee for doing so. Regardless of the method of ordering, birth certificates are issued by Louisiana Vital Records. Without going online, the estimated time for delivery was shown as 8-10 weeks, which was too long.
I submitted an online request through VitalChek, and they asked me to select one of four cities where I once lived to verify that I was a real person making a valid request. It was quick; I completed the application on my iPad while sitting in a Buc-ee's parking lot. There are various fees, and for my delivery method, I selected overnight UPS air, a higher cost but quicker option. They charged my credit card immediately. In total, all costs were less than $50. It's important to look at the fine print, short form, long form, card form, etc. for birth certificates because ordering the wrong type might mean that it will not be accepted for the intended use.
The one point on which I fault VitalChek is that I have never received an email confirmation of my order. I initially gave 4 stars but changed it to 5 stars because not receiving an email was only a minor inconvenience. In order to check the status of the VitalChek order, it is necessary to have an order number and a separate pin number. That would have been in the email which I did not receive. The info was probably part of the application process, but being spur of the moment on an iPad in a parking lot, I did not record it. I looked up VitalChek's customer service number and called them about 2:30 AM, not really expecting that any company would be staffing a customer care line at early AM, but a live person answered. I explained my call, she looked up the order, verified the details, and gave me the order number. She did not volunteer the pin number, but since I already knew a pin number was needed to review the status, I requested the pin number, she gave it to me, and I immediately checked the order online. The details were correct, and it had been submitted to Louisiana Vital Record.
VitalChek's estimated time of delivery was an "on average" 10 - 15 Business Days, not including weekends or holidays. On the 15th day (a Thursday), VitalChek sent me a message that the order had been delayed and a link where I could make an inquiry from the issuing agency. I inquired but did not receive a reply; however, the following Tuesday, I had the document in-hand. That would have been the 18th day, and that was totally acceptable vs the other estimate of 8 to 10 Weeks.
I have seen complaints that VitalChek was slow or gave the wrong document, never answers their phone, etc. What one has to remember is that VitalChek does not make anything or build anything; they are solely a middleman. VitalChek collects your credit card payment, which Louisiana would not accept, sends the application with the info which you filled in to the correct location, and then provides a general status update about your order. If there is a delay or mistake made, it is likely the fault of the issuing agency, not VitalChek. As for not answering the phone, they answered the phone for me at about 2:30 AM in the morning and quickly provided the info I needed.
I recommend VitalChek for the type of services which they provide. They saved me a 10-hour trip of about 650 miles at which point I would have submitted an application and still not left with my birth certificate in-hand. They accepted a credit card method of payment which Louisiana would not accept. They gave me a general status update then alerted and provided a contact link at the outside date when they would have expected the document to have been delivered. VitalChek did what they had said they would do, except the confirmation email and the 2-3 day delay was likely due to the Louisiana Vital Records but still within a very acceptable timeframe.
VitalChek: A Scam or Incompetence? Our Frustrating Experience Trying to Obtain a Birth Certificate
My boyfriend and I have had a terrible experience with VitalChek. We were in desperate need of his birth certificate and in September 2021, we placed an order with VitalChek. Unfortunately, they only offer regular first-class shipping with no expedited options, no tracking, and to make matters worse, the certificate never arrived. We reached out to them, but they refused to resend it or refund our money.
We didn't give up and decided to try again with VitalChek 15 days ago, on January 10, 2022. This time around, they asked for proof of identity, which they did not ask for during our previous attempt. But, things went south quickly as my boyfriend had lost his driver license and didn't have any other valid forms of identification that would allow him to obtain another birth certificate.
The forms they gave us suggested that a valid photo work ID, along with a current payslip from a verifiable employer, would be enough proof of identity. We followed their instructions and sent the necessary documents. We waited, and finally, we received an email saying that the documents we sent had been approved, and our order was being processed.
To our dismay, however, we received another email today stating that our order had been cancelled and that they were refunding our $15.00. We paid a total of $23.30 (twice!) to VitalChek, and we still don't have my boyfriend's much-needed birth certificate. He needs this document urgently, and we're frustrated that VitalChek has taken our money and refused to provide anything in return.
It's been almost five months, and we're still struggling with this company. It's unbelievable that this is the only way to obtain a birth certificate, and it seems like they're scamming people. We're not alone in this situation, and I feel that no one should have to go through the ordeal we're facing with VitalChek. It's unacceptable, and something must be done about it.
My Unpleasant Experience with VitalChek for Birth Certificate Order
In today's digital age, many of us expect online processes to be quick, easy, and hassle-free. So, when faced with the task of obtaining a birth certificate, it's only natural to seek an online solution. Unfortunately, using VitalChek for this purpose may not be the best option.
I recently used VitalChek to order a birth certificate for my newborn in June 2021. Since the Vital Records office in my state was not yet accepting in-person transactions, I opted for the "online purchasing option" provided by VitalChek. I was hoping this would be a straightforward and fast process, so I paid for a rush order.
However, my experience with VitalChek turned out to be anything but smooth sailing. To start with, their "online" option only involved filling out a short questionnaire digitally rather than on paper. This raised some doubts in my mind about the legitimacy and completeness of the whole process. The real issue emerged after submitting payment and starting the process. I discovered that the so-called "digital submission" only led to a requirement for me to get a form notarized and faxed, rather than an actual online submission.
Even more disappointingly, 10 days after submitting the fax, I received an email from VitalChek at 3am saying that there was a problem with my notarized form. However, there was no information provided about what the problem was, making it difficult to correct. The email only advised me to resubmit a notarized form as soon as possible. Trying to get more information from VitalChek's customer support only led to frustration. Clicking the "contact us" button on their website only led me to the number of my state's Vital Records office, with VitalChek providing no real support or information themselves.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend VitalChek. While their services may be convenient in some cases, I found their digital submission process to be misleading and ultimately unsatisfactory.

Buyer beware! Understand before making payments
Middleman company. Ordered 5 birth certificates. Totaling $451.90(paid extra for ups) 2 fromNYstate order 10/22/21.$113 each! 1 arrived on 2/18/22. Other never came. Next 2 orders my twins born in Arizona. $111 total. On 10/17/21. Never came. Last order placed for Ny again bc we need it. Another $113 on 5/30/22. Called for help/refund. The AZ order w the ups tracking expired so tracking# isn't available. They have to do a trace b4 anything. Verified the 1 successful & the 1 unsuccessful as well as my newest 1 to prove I need it that I'm paying again for it. Called hoping to get refund for this duplicate. Told me the agent worked on it in Feb2022. Agent had a? Regarding fathers name. He is not on the certificate. I was never notified. I provided his info to help expedite. Agent updated & alerted original agent that had that order. Learned that if a agent doesn't take specific steps to mark it a certain way. The agent who has your order will never be notified unless she decides to review again. They're backed up severely so that's a joke. 4 months to look at it originally for the 1st time. So we update dads info in the notes also added the new order# showing I paid double I need it. Hoping to at least retrieve the $113 back.& deal with $111 AZ one when time comes ? After 2 hour phone call. A call back & another hour he updated me bc by then he woke to supervisor. Told me NY States refunds less than 1%. NY State dept is grimey crooks. Tells me he can maybe refund me $23.50 for the shipping etc. no more bc the rest went to the NY state agency. He wasn't allowed to give me their contact information. All vitalcheck employees get in big trouble if they release that info literally bc of all the $ they're pocketing. So I understand it isn't his fault. Their hands are tied but it would have been nice to know that upfront before spending almost $500 only to "maybe" get $23 back. &. I won't even know until another 3-4days. It's a headache. We didn't cancel newest order just to be safe bc they need it for proof that I'm not a scammer! I didn't get to complete AZ one or know the ending bc they have to contact ups. 1st I was told that I have to do it. Then that tracking# disappeared so wtf! I have to wait until they decide to call & get more info. & proof it didn't get delivered. I have all email confirmations, all orders#s, pin#s. Same address same phone# same bank info everything NO changes on my end. It's maddening. When this is all said & done. He said he would be shocked if NYSTATE refunded me for even 1 of them. He's been working w them for years. Each state has dif rules & it's super confusing. Almost not worth it if they only pocket $23 & send the rest to the state! If I knew I could do it another way I would have never did it with them. I'm grateful for the 1 I received. But it's going past 8 months. Not fair at all. I'm single mother of 4. I don't have $500 to flush. When I hear back if I get my big $23 refund I'm gonna do my best to locate NYSTATE representatives & raise hell. I have proof I have all my bank statements showing they debited me the amounts everything. I am not trying to play games I really needed new copies of my kids BC's.
Only other thing I can think of is contacting my bank & asking them to place a unauthorized charge for 1 of the duplicates. Possibly 2 depending how AZ order ends up. Please be advised. Maybe other states are easier. I saw some ok reviews. But I have had no such luck. Will also report them (NYSTATE not vital check) and stay on them. It isn't right. Agent was laughing bc it was a joke to him saying my literally never refunds nothing even if proved etc. so my expectations are very low:(
Shame on New York State. He also said they are more tricky bc they have 2 NY options. New York which means Ny state & NYC New York City 5 boroughs. So if you click the wrong one they tell you it was your error not theirs therefore no refund. Please be careful. I wish I knew what I know now. Good luck to anyone else. I'm not even gonna add all my proof. I've exhausted almost 4 hours today w them. & if they won't refund why upload my info as if this site will. But I have it all & saving it all. I read on google there's ways to order directly from your states department website I would advise to do that if you can't get there physically in person. That might give you a better chance bc it cuts the middle man crap. Im sure many people give up & get frustrated & blame vitalcheck. Hope this helps others and saves money in your pocket not in theirs.at end I had to submit a image.
Birth Certificate
Went online, completed all the steps, uploaded everything they wanted. Sent a copy of drivers license etc. It has been over a month and now they have suspended my order claiming i didn't provide them the correct documentation. When I try to go into the order system nothing works. I can't view required docs, or download new ones. When I review the order it says they are still reviewing my docs but the e-mails say its on hold. This place is a total scam. I want my money back!
Desired outcome: Sense they seem to be incapable of doing what they promised I want a refund!!
order not received
Since February 2022 I've placed three orders for my divorce certificate from the state of North Carolina. I've called several times a week with no answer and have sent just as many emails. The email response is apathetic at best. I've been charged rapidly for all three purchases but have never received a document from them. After a while, my order number is no longer in their system according to the only response email I've received from their company. If you can't send me my documents I should receive a refund. The item I ordered on the websites always says processing until one day it's no longer in their system. please follow up with your customers and offer some courtesy when you're not able to fulfill your obligations.
Desired outcome: Please send me my document.

Mixed Experience with VitalChek: Frustration with Refunds and Extra Steps for Death Certificate
So, I gotta say, I had a bit of a mixed experience with VitalChek. I mean, I ordered my own birth certificate and my dad's without any issues, but when it came to my grandma's death certificate, things got a little wonky.
First off, the website said I needed to prove my relationship to my grandma, which I totally get. But then they asked for my birth certificate to do that, which was fine, but then they also asked for my dad's birth certificate. Like, what? If I can prove who my dad is, then the State knows who his mom is, right? It just seemed like a weird extra step.
Anyway, I didn't have my dad's birth certificate at the time, and it turned out he didn't have a copy either. So I asked VitalChek to cancel my order and give me a refund since they clearly couldn't provide the service I needed. But they said no refunds, which was frustrating.
Then, to make matters worse, my sister passed away, so I had bigger things to worry about. When I finally did get my dad's birth certificate and tried to reorder my grandma's death certificate, they had already canceled my order and wouldn't give me a refund. Ugh.
I don't really understand why the State still uses VitalChek when they have such a bad satisfaction rating. It feels like they're just in it to make money. I'm definitely planning on filing a complaint with the State about this whole mess.
Disappointing Service from VitalCheck: Delayed Orders, No Refunds, and Rude Customer Service
I had to use VitalCheck to request some important documents for my godkids, for whom I got guardianship this year. I placed all my orders in July of 2022, hoping to receive them as soon as possible. However, I was disappointed with the service provided by VitalCheck. They took my money without providing any clear evidence of when (OR IF) they intend or are able to fulfill my order. I paid for THREE birth certificates and waited for 122 business days, but I have only received ONE. I was really frustrated with this situation, and when I contacted VitalCheck for a refund, they refused to give me one. They told me to take it up with the county recorders' offices, which was really inconvenient for me. If I had the time to do that, I would have gone there and spent $5 versus the $50+ they charge. I was really disappointed with their service, and I will never use them again.
I've called customer service twice, hoping to get some answers, but I was placed on hold for over an hour. The representatives were EXCEEDINGLY rude and condescending, which made me feel even more frustrated. They never had an answer other than to call the county, which was really frustrating. I mean, VITALCHECK is the website I was on, and they guaranteed both the product and the timeline. I expected them to provide me with some answers, but they didn't. I was really disappointed with their service, and I will never use them again.
If you need to request some important documents, I suggest you do the work of going to the county. Most of them have a virtual ordering process, even if it does require a notary (many banks have them free). Just do not use this company. I HATE THIS COMPANY AND WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. EVER.
Disappointing Experience with VitalChek's Online Purchasing Option
I gotta say, I ain't too pleased with VitalChek. So, I had a little one come into the world and needed to get their birth certificate. I tried to go in person to my state's Vital Records office, but they were closed for in-person transactions. So, they gave me the option to mail in my request or use VitalChek's "online purchasing option". I figured, hey, why not try the digital route? It might be quicker and easier. So, I went ahead and paid for the rush order. But, boy was I wrong.
The "online" option turned out to just be a digital questionnaire that didn't actually submit my request online. Instead, I had to get a form notarized and fax it in. And, to make matters worse, 10 days after I faxed in the form, I got an email from VitalChek at 3am saying there was an issue with my notarized form. But, they didn't even tell me what the issue was! They just told me to resubmit the form as soon as possible. When I tried to contact them for help, they just gave me the number for my Vital Records office and left me to figure it out on my own.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend using VitalChek. It just caused me more stress and hassle than it was worth.
Nightmare Experience Ordering Birth Certificate with VitalChek - Would Not Recommend
I have to say, my experience with VitalChek was not a good one. I was trying to order a birth certificate for my 9-month-old daughter, and it was a nightmare. I wish I could give them a negative rating of -5, that's how bad it was.
The first time I tried to order, my wife filled out the application and uploaded all the required documents. But within 24 hours, I got an email saying the order was on hold. They said they needed a valid government-issued photo ID, so my wife uploaded her driver's license. But then we got the same email again, saying we needed to upload the documents. This went on for six or seven times, with us uploading the same documents and getting the same email over and over again.
I finally called customer service to try to figure out what was going on, but they weren't much help. They just kept telling me to upload a photo ID. They did suggest that I cancel the order and resubmit it, so I did that. But then I went through the same cycle all over again, with the same email saying I needed to upload the documents.
I was really frustrated by this point, especially since I had verified that the PDF of the photo ID was clear and had no issues. I had used the same document for other government agencies without any problems.
Overall, I would not recommend VitalChek. Their customer service was not helpful, and the whole process was a huge hassle. I'm surprised they're still in business, to be honest.
VitalChek Review: A Nightmare Experience - Stay Far Away!
I gotta say, VitalChek is a real piece of work. I was trying to get a copy of my kid's birth certificate, and I thought I'd save some time by using their website. Boy, was I wrong. I put in my order back in September of 2022, and I even paid extra for expedited shipping. But then, after I paid, they told me I wouldn't get my certificate until February of 2023! What kind of nonsense is that? I needed the certificate for a school form, so I was really counting on it arriving quickly. But nope, VitalChek had other plans.
So, I tried to cancel my order, but they wouldn't let me. They said it was already being processed, even though I'd only placed the order two minutes before. What a scam! Six months later, I moved to a new address, and I asked VitalChek to send my documents there instead. But they told me I needed a notarized letter and a copy of my license with the new address. Are you kidding me? It's March of 2023 now, and I still haven't gotten my documents. And to top it all off, I found out I could have just contacted the county clerk's office myself and gotten the certificate in two weeks. What a waste of time and money!
Honestly, I'm really worried about my kid's identity now. Who knows where VitalChek is going to send the certificate? And who knows who might get their hands on it? This whole experience has been a nightmare, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Stay far away from VitalChek if you value your time and money.
Terrible Experience with VitalChek Customer Service: Rude and Unhelpful
So, I had this whole thing where I was trying to help my mom get her birth certificate from California. I looked it up online and found this place called VitalChek. I started filling out the information online, but it got confusing real quick. My mom was getting frustrated because she didn't want the certificate to go to my address, but it needed my information to pay for it. It was a mess, let me tell you.
We tried filling out the information again, thinking maybe there was a glitch or something, but it just brought us back to the same issue. And get this, we got charged twice! Two times $9, to be exact. My mom decided to just try another way and not use VitalChek.
I called their customer service line and waited on hold for about an hour and a half. Finally, this lady named Angelica answered the phone. And let me tell you, she was so rude! She told me that this was the only way to get the birth certificate and that they don't give refunds, even if it was a mistake. I asked for a refund anyway, but she just kept being rude. I eventually gave up and hung up the phone.
I can't believe VitalChek would hire someone like Angelica. She was so rude and unhelpful. And to top it off, they took my money even though I didn't get what I needed. I feel bad for anyone else who tries to use VitalChek and gets confused like I did. Just be careful, because they'll charge you no matter what.
Beware of VitalChek: My Experience with Their Incompetence and Lack of Accountability
I gotta tell ya, folks, I had a real bad experience with VitalChek. Let me tell you what happened. So, I needed to get a copy of my birth certificate from New York City, right? I went on their website and made the order, no problem. Got an order summary number and everything. Then, they sent me an email asking for some more info, which I gave them. The lady seemed satisfied and everything was good to go.
But then, I got a package from UPS with a bill for $15.50 from the Department of Health in New York State. And get this, they said they don't process New York City birth certificates! What the heck, VitalChek? Why did you accept my order and take my money, $68.50 to be exact, if you don't even process NYC birth certificates? And the lady I talked to never mentioned anything about that either. They should have a system in place to reject orders they can't process.
To make matters worse, the letter from the Department of Health said "No Refund Due" for the $68.50 I paid. That's a lot of money to lose for a transaction that didn't even happen. And when I tried to get a refund, it was like pulling teeth. Nobody wanted to take responsibility or be accountable for what happened. It's just not right.
I did some research and it turns out that VitalChek has a lot of bad reviews. I don't understand why New York State still deals with them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this kind of hassle. It's not fair to people who don't know any better and end up getting ripped off.
Now, I'm not saying they shouldn't charge a fee for their services. But $68.50 for a birth certificate that they didn't even provide? That's just robbery, plain and simple. I'm still trying to get my money back, but it's been a real pain in the you-know-what. So, buyer beware, folks. Don't make the same mistake I did.
VitalChek Review: A Stressful and Frustrating Experience for Ordering a Birth Certificate
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough time with VitalChek. I mean, I've ordered stuff online before, but this was something else. I ordered my daughter's birth certificate way back in December of 2021, and it's been nothing but stress ever since.
I did everything they asked for, provided all the documentation they needed to verify my identity, but it seemed like every time they checked something, it came back as unapproved. And every time I called to try and get some answers, I was on hold for what felt like forever. When I emailed them, they just told me to call the number. It was like nobody knew what was going on.
Finally, after months of waiting, I got an approved status. But then...nothing. I waited and waited, and still nothing. And when I called to ask what was going on, they told me that I had to re-order it. And pay another $40. Are you kidding me? I've already been waiting for 7 months, and now they want me to start all over again?
I'm sorry, but I can't recommend VitalChek to anyone. It's just not worth the stress and frustration. I'll have to find another company to get my daughter's birth certificate.
Disappointing Experience with VitalChek: Delayed Delivery and Wrong Document Received
So, let me tell you about my experience with VitalChek. I needed a birth certificate for identification purposes and decided to use their services since they are the only company "trusted" by the government to send out these documents. However, I must say that I was not impressed with their service.
I placed my order on July 27th and just received it today, August 12th. That's a long time to wait for a document that is necessary for gaining access to different forms of identification. And to make matters worse, I didn't receive the actual birth certificate that I requested. Instead, I received three copies of a "certificate of live birth" that were certified by the county. Now, I'm not sure if you know the difference between a birth certificate and a certificate of live birth, but it's a big deal when it comes to proving your identity.
I needed this document to provide proof of identity for an apartment, as a supportive document for a driver's license or passport, and more. But with the wrong document in hand, I was left feeling frustrated and disappointed. It's like ordering fries at a burger joint and getting a shake instead. It's not what you asked for, and it's not what you need.
To make matters worse, I paid $55 to expedite the order and have it shipped via next day UPS air with a required signature upon delivery. But instead of getting what I paid for, I was left waiting and hoping that the wrong document would suffice. It's not like the people who order the products and the people who send the products are the same people. Those who work in the offices sending the products are paid to do the work of getting the correct products sent.
Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with VitalChek. It's frustrating to pay for a service and not receive what you need. I might as well have sent the birth certificate to myself since I didn't get the right results. If you're looking for a reliable and efficient service, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Disappointing Experience with VitalChek: Delayed Certificates, Missing Documents, and Poor Customer Service
I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with VitalChek. I mean, I requested 5 certificates like 3 months ago and I still haven't gotten all of them. And get this, when I finally got the envelope like 2 months ago, 2 of the certificates were missing! Like, what the heck, man? And even though I paid for all 5, it's been a total pain in the butt to get a refund for the missing ones. I've talked to a bunch of different people who all promised to help me out, but nothing ever happened. And get this, they all blamed the County of Los Angeles, even though I paid VitalChek for the certificates. Like, come on, take some responsibility, people!
Anyway, one of the last people I talked to was this lady named Victoria. She said she'd put in a request for a refund and I should get it in 5 business days. But when I called back after 5 days, this other lady named Cindy told me that Victoria never actually put in the request. Like, what the heck, man? Waiting 3 months for certificates and over 2 months for a refund is just ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. Oh, and by the way, the option to upload a "pdf" (proof of purchase) didn't even work. Ugh.
Okay, so here's the update. Even though most of the process was super frustrating, I gotta give a shoutout to Cindy. I talked to her like 2 days ago and she was actually really helpful. She said she'd submit my claim for a refund and I should get the money back on my credit card within 5 business days (or 10 if something crazy happened). And get this, the very next day, the refund was approved and processed to my credit card account! Like, finally, some good news! If all the people at VitalChek were as efficient as Cindy, maybe they wouldn't have such a bad reputation. So yeah, I'm adding another star to my rating. Thanks again, Cindy!

I have received any follow-up about my order - when I go to the website it says my online information has expired and to call their [protected] # for assistance. Cautionary Review: VitalChek's Customer Service and Shipping Fall Short
As someone who lives quite a distance away from the county of their birth, I was excited to learn about VitalChek and their various services. Though the fees initially seemed reasonable, I did opt to pay an extra $20 for expedited shipping so that I could receive my birth certificate as quickly as possible.
After providing all of the necessary notarized information via fax, I was pleased to receive a prompt email from VitalChek confirming my order and charging my credit card. The email even included a notification that my package had been shipped, complete with a UPS tracking number.
However, after waiting for 8 days and not seeing my package arrive, I decided to contact VitalChek's customer service team for assistance. Unfortunately, the representative I spoke with was unable to provide me with any useful information and instead instructed me to contact the County Records Office myself to see if they had received my information yet.
To my dismay, I learned that the Records Office had not yet received any information from VitalChek at all. This left me frustrated with the slow process and general incompetence of VitalChek's customer service.
After this experience, I highly recommend checking with the County Records Office directly before using VitalChek's services. Not only is this typically a cheaper option, but I also discovered that family members are often able to pick up and mail birth certificates themselves.
Unreliable and Deceptive: A VitalChek Review
The experience with VitalChek left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. While they offer a seemingly convenient service for ordering important documents like birth certificates, the truth is that they are only a middleman and cannot verify any of the information for you. This became painfully clear after having to order for the second time due to an error made by one of their employees.
What's even more frustrating is that VitalChek does not make it clear that they are just a go-between for customers and the actual state agencies responsible for issuing these documents. They present themselves as a one-stop-shop for all your document needs, but in reality, they are just trying to make a profit off of their customers' confusion and lack of knowledge regarding the process.
Moreover, when I called VitalChek to inquire about the mistake made on my order, I was met with a lack of genuine concern and outright apathy. The fact that they were dealing with highly sensitive information did not seem to register with them, leaving me feeling even more uneasy about the kind of company VitalChek truly is.
In hindsight, I regret trusting VitalChek with such a personal and important task. My advice to anyone looking to order important documents like birth certificates would be to skip the middle man and go directly to the state agency responsible for issuing them. Don't be fooled by VitalChek's slick marketing tactics - the headache and potential for mistakes is not worth the convenience they claim to offer. I would never recommend their services to anyone, and I am grateful to have learned this lesson before potentially putting myself at risk of identity theft or other negative consequences.
Disappointing Experience with VitalChek: Poor Support and Document Processing Issues
It is disappointing to read about such poor experiences with VitalChek. The lack of support and trouble with document processing would certainly frustrate anyone in the same situation. It's understandable to feel as though the customer service representatives are uninterested in problem-solving and seem to be following a script. One would expect a bit more personalized assistance, especially when it comes to important documents like vital records. It's concerning that errors kept occurring during the application process and that representatives were not able to provide clear feedback. This would undoubtedly cause unnecessary delays and inconvenience for anyone trying to obtain official documents. The lack of consistency among representatives is also concerning, as it suggests a lack of training and communication among workers. While speaking to a supervisor may provide some comfort, it is discouraging to hear that their assistance was just as unsatisfactory as the other representatives. One would presume that a supervisor would have more knowledge about the process or be able to provide additional help. Ultimately, it is disappointing to hear about such a negative experience with VitalChek. The issues seem to go beyond individual employees and potentially point to larger problems within the company. Hopefully, changes are made to improve customer experiences and ensure accurate and timely processing of vital records.
Avoid VitalChek for Obtaining Vital Records: A Frustrating and Confusing Nightmare
I just had an absolutely terrible experience using VitalChek for obtaining vital records. Suffice it to say that my experience with them was a complete nightmare. It seemed like a never-ending cycle of passing documents back and forth, with unclear instructions and confusing emails adding to the frustration. The process is largely automated, and as a result, the experience was anything but smooth. When I would finally get someone on the line, there was a new requirement or request every time, leading to repeated trips to the notary and added frustration.
I consider myself a fairly accomplished individual - I have 3 master's degrees and spent 30 years serving in the military. As such, I am quite confident in my ability to fill out a form. But dealing with VitalChek was an exercise in futility, as seemingly minor details were causing enormous hold-ups in the process.
To make matters even worse, VitalChek took part of my payment upfront and kept pushing me back and forth with vague instructions for weeks. Just when I thought I had completed everything correctly, they would find yet another issue to resolve, causing more delays and headaches.
I understand the need for detailed documentation, but the process should not be this difficult or unclear. Having to fix the same mistakes repeatedly was incredibly frustrating and time-consuming. It's easy to get exasperated with their customer service, judging from my experience.
In the end, I strongly recommend avoiding VitalChek. The experience was an absolute waste of my time and energy with nothing to show for it. There are better and more competent services out there that can help you obtain vital records - VitalChek simply isn't worth it.
VitalChek Review: Frustration and Disappointment with Delayed Birth Certificate Delivery
My experience with VitalChek has been extremely frustrating and disappointing to say the least. As someone who urgently needed a birth certificate, I placed my order on their website on January 25th, without first reading any reviews. With nearly two months having passed, I have yet to receive the vital document I ordered from them.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and contacted the New York City department of health and vital records for some answers. They informed me that my birth certificate had indeed been completed, but they were unable to provide me with any further details, such as whether it had been shipped or when it might arrive. In an attempt to get some clarity, I reached out to the email address they had provided me with, but have yet to receive a response.
In a state of frustration and desperation, I called VitalChek to try and get some answers. Unfortunately, their customer service proved to be just as unhelpful. They informed me that there was nothing they could do if my order had been completed by New York, leaving me with no options for getting my birth certificate. What really adds insult to injury is that VitalChek didn't even follow up with an email to let me know when my order had been shipped, which was something they were supposed to do.
Based on my personal experience, I would strongly advise you to think twice before using VitalChek's services. They have caused me nothing but stress and anxiety, and their lack of communication and willingness to help seems to be a clear indication of their dishonest intentions. I cannot stress enough how important it is to research and read reviews before using any online service.
