I had all the windows replace, here's the story:

Installation Issues

* Installers came out without saws or ladders
- They asked to borrow mine. I didn't have any at the time.
- I called Weathergard to complain but there was no customer support at the time on Saturdays.

* Crew ate my food out of the refrigerator
- I kept hearing the refrigerator opening and assumed it was my kids, then I caught one of them with their face in the fridge!
- They ate up all the home-made cookies and drank all the pop!
- I called Weathergard a second time to complain - for no use as there was no one there.
- The following Monday I called Weathergard customer service and they said I should have thrown them out - with 11 holes in the house!

* They damaged the drywall around the windows so badly that you could put your hand through the drywall
- They refused to fix it as "damage due to removing the old windows was the owner's problem". I still have pictures.
- I called Weathergard several times during business hours, had someone over the house for review with no result

* When adding the window trim on the outside of the house, the installers covered over the shutters with the trim, rather
than remove the shutters.
- I called Weathergard several times during business hours, had someone over the house for review with no result

Resolution

* The issues took months to get action.
- The only reason anyone responded was because the sales person made several errors on the loan documents and needed a new signature
to finalize the loan. I refused to sign until the work was repaired.

* Weathergard sent out the same guys who wrecked the job to repair the job!
- They tried, but it was still a wreck. I repaired the all the drywall as I simply GAVE UP trying to get it fixed correctly.
- The bow window still has trim over the shutters!

Quality

* The windows keep cracking! I've had 3-4 widows replace due to pressure cracks.
* The frames are cracked on nearly every window.
- Weathergard has been out 3-4 times to review with no plan to support or resolve the issue of cracked frames
* Ice forms on the inside of the windows on cold days!

5 years later, the nightmare continues - a realtor came out to review our house for possible sale. She said the windows will negatively impact the sale price of the home as the frames are all cracked! I have regretted my decision to purchase the widows every single day.

Weathergard windows are in the top 5% of the windows made in michigan unlike wallsides thin walled old design 3000 series over 10 year old design but getting back to this complaint no way did any installer let alone weathergards installer eat food out of a frig. This is a person who is trying to get some free windows . Its hard to sell homes now some some crooks will try any angle to get something for nothing so get a life lady and tell who ever put you up to this false posting about a great window company such as wethergard to try and pull this crap on a cheap window company who just want your $$$ aka wallside? Hansons 10 year old design not new design like wethergard. 10 year design is like having a 10 year old computer you choose 10 year old design or new design aka new computer from weathergard. No choice looked at all 3 windows wethergards new titanium glass window by a mile thank you for your time and lady maybee clean the house it might sell then!

Why do I have to work or be a relative of someone at WEATHERGARD beacuse I know they have the best window in the market commercial grade, wallside and hansons have the old residental grade NOT commercial grade 30% less energy savings than commercial grade , but back to the two false posting give me something for free darlene twins ,we can all see that your the type trying to get something for nothing, again no way did a installer eat food out of the frig. and this other darlene agress they did this thats just a b.s. story save the b.s. and go on a diet thats were the food went!

weathergard was the best from start to finish. this lady sounds bitter , we all know no installer ate food from a customers house Thats sour grapes and a lie . weathergards people were so nice from the salesperson to the office to the installers clean and quick and a great neat installers! Weathergards new titanium glass commercial grade frame and sash,new to the window instrusty not residental like wallsides best 3000 series or hansons metal reinforced window both over 15 years old. My good lady you must of had weathergards old res. design window . My commercial grade titanium glass window is a 1 year old technolgy unlike the other two old res. windows so called top of the line wallside 3000 series and hansons reinfoced I Q glass window (I found out hansons made up the name I Q glass thats why no one else has it )So a bad smear tatic is not needed to get your way just dont lie and you will get whats coming to you. I just had four large double hung Weathergard windows installed a few weeks ago and the job was done in two hours by very professional men. I love the windows the old ones couldn't come close to the quality of these, I hope to have the rest of the window s replaced eventually . Great experience from the salesman that came to my home with a demo window to show me exactly what my new windows would be. I highly recommend Weathergard.

I just had some weathergard windows installed to replace some old vinyl windows from about 20+ years ago. So far, I like the windows but I'm wondering if they will be warmer in the winter months to come. They were installed in mid April and on cooler nights afterwards, I could still feel some cold air around the bottom of the frame. I do like the glass in them as there isn't as much glare as the old ones. The installer who did my caulking didn't do the greatest job and I have them coming back out this week to fix the places where the caulking is already pulling away from the window in places. I didn't paint around them yet so I know it's not because of paint being put over the caulking. The caulking they use is very strong and it was really difficult to sleep the night of the installation process. If anyone has asthma and uses this company, they might want to make arrangements to sleep elsewhere for a couple of nights. It took several days to air out the scent in my house. I do like the looks of the window, I just hope it does good in the winter to come. The service guy, Dave, is awesome to talk to and seems to be very helpful if you have any questions for him. One more problem I had was the measurement of 3 of my windows was off and they had to re-make two of them. But they were timely in putting the new ones in and adjusting any problems we had with the others. Overall, I'd say I'm satisfied so far.

Dan & Mary are good people. Thats because happy customers hunt down complaint boards to argue with the people who feel they have been treated poorly... NOT These are obviously plants from the GOOD, HONEST people at Weathergard...

I had two sets of door walls installed by WeatherGard in September, 2007. The staff was professional, the workmanship was good and other than a latch problem that they came out and fixed, the door walls have worked beautifully over the past 18 months.

I have had my Weathergard windows for about ten years. And they are still fantastic! I had the installation done in two phases since I had so many to replace. The main part of the house- the installers came and had all the old French steel windows out and the new ones in a day. They came back the second day to finish the outside trim and caulking. The addition to my house was done a year later with the same level of quality and expertise. The double hungs were tilt-in at the top and bottom for easy cleaning. The casements cranked out to an angle that could be easily reached for ease of cleaning. The front picture window has a beautiful brass trim in it that still gets compliments.

Another great feature is the warm edge that separates the glass. The energy savings were phenomenal! I have had a couple of stress cracks but nothing that wasn't easily repaired with no fuss from Weathergard. I did have a break in in my home where they couldn't get the window open from the outside. So the theives literally had to tear the window out of the brick frame of the house.

Since then, I have built another house and tried my darndest to get the builder to give an allowance toward Weathergard windows rather than the the ones they supplied. I miss my Weathergard windows in my other house. Next year I will improve the new house by replacing with all Weathergard.

We truly appreciate the information provided by REAL consumers regarding Weathergard. Had a salesman out just yesterday. Got a quote but nothing official, no proposal. Also, he wanted an answer by Monday. High-pressure indeed. Thank you to all who had problems. We have decided against this company. BTW, Dan Jones and Mary Williams, if those are your real names - sounds like consumer complaints against this company are very personal for you. Also noted how seemingly "well-informed" and current on technical info you both are. Your opinions lack any credibility whatsoever.

Okay, my windows are now 2 years old from Weathergard and I can't say they're the greatest but I'm sure they're not the worst. My picture window in the living room has a crack in the vinyl down by the left lower corner. Had Dave come out when I first noticed it and he said that it wouldn't cause any harm but they would replace it for me if I wanted. I decided to leave well enough alone because I feared that tearing out the window to replace it would not be good. It's been a year since and it's still the same and no air seems to be coming in the crack. I just wonder if double hung windows might be better than sliders? I feel cold air coming from the bottom tracks of the bedroom windows and even put some rolled up towels in the tracks to try to keep the air from being so cold. Still have moisture on the windows even with a dehumidifier going constantly in my basement. Has helped some but not enough. I can't see any improvement in my heat bill either so I think old " Doc" was pulling my leg when he talked of how energy efficient these windows are. In any case, they're here to stay because I'm not pulling them out to be replaced again for a long time, hopefully. I just can't whole heartedly recommend Weathergard, though Dave is the best thing they have going for them. He's the nicest guy you ever want to meet and at least seems to be honest. So buyer, check out as much as you can with these folks before buying. The sales guy we had (Doc) was very high pressure and I don't think he'd know the truth if it smacked him in the face! We should have been smart enough to throw him out on his ear when he opened his mouth in the first 2 minutes. Then maybe we would have gotten some more estimates. But hey, you live and learn.

I moved into my home in 2007 with the original old wood windows. I replaced 11 windows with Weatherguard. In the past 4 years, I have really no huge complaints. There is a small latch that is suppose to restrict the window from opening full that broke on one of mine, but it was easily fixed after all this time. I never feel any cold air coming in and they have cut down on the noise level from the busy street I live near. They are also super easy to clean! I just hired them to replace 2 more windows.

This company has the WORST customer service I've ever experienced! If you need to address any negative issues with this company, they will be very rude, demeaning, and disrespectful to you. When my family was looking at different window companies, we wanted one that had a great product AND excellent customer service. Guess we chose the wrong one! Should have gone with Wallside like we were originally going to.

Weathergard energy star commercial grade windows blows wallside, hansons, majic windows away. How do I know? I worked at 3 and had wallside at my old house. They have an A+ better buis. Beurue rating. You don't get that buy treating customers bad. Those people saying they ate food out of fridge and that the windows weren't great are liars. Wallside has a great warrenty on a crap window. Hansons are a middle man they get windows from chicago or ohio I forget n there residential high priced junk. Majic gets there fiber glass windows from canada. O n u can't put any of there windows in in a high rise cuz they'll bend or break when the wall settles. That's a law. Only weathergard windows can be used in tall buildings out of companies in mi. They're energy star rated nand very proffesional. I went door to door for years and had less complaints about weathergard and more praise. And talk about high pressure call majic or hansons you will see high presure. Good luck people don't listen to people who have an agenda.

I dunno one of the 3 installers that were at our home today flat out asked my husband if he had any tylenol, advil or vicodin that he could have for his head as he had "hit: his head on the ceiling in out stairwell (old farmhouse) and we had to listen to him complain about it for the 2.5 hours he was here. he also told us we needed to do something about that ceiling, i told him it was the roofline and he told to to put an addition there.. didn't sound like joking to me. There are many more issues i have with the crew who installed today but a "professional" asking a homeowner they don't know at all for a narcotic drug, is unacceptable!

So a follow up on the installer that hit his head, etc... I had many more things that could have been easily resolved if the installers had an ounce of communication with us... the Customer sales Manager our of Grand Rapids essentially told me it was my fault that the crew did not communicate better cuz I left to go to work and left my husband in the house with them... Really! Nice to know that don't communicate with Males :) BTW. the Sales manager continuiously was trying to get off the phone with me, was refusing to talk with my husband... cuz I was the only one with the problem and that was my fault cuz i was not there at the completion of the job, . well hello when you have a missing screen, another screen with a hole in it and a gap of missing grout between the new slider and the tile... and the grout of cousre is not their problem and that is "covered" under their paperwork - and only asbestos and plaster is mentioned there... at the minimum the crew could have mentioned it! I told the sales Manager that he was trying to blow me off by saying everything i was complaining about was covered on the sheet that is a CYA for them. He proceeded to essentially give me a definition of "blowing off" he said it was when you don't call back and you don't talk to the customer... hummm sounds about right to me... trying to get me off the phone so he doesn't have to listen to how poorly their company standards are... and then he says I have not heard you say once how nice the windows are... REALLY! How can i be happy with the windows when I have some major issues! Way happier with the 11 windows I had installed a few years back for less than what I paid for 3 windows and a slider of theirs!

Another follow up! I had a visit from the original sales guy who made me feel like i was being heard and took a look at the things i was talking about, I felt so much better after he had stopped by :) Today the lead crew guy came and addressed all the items that I had concern with within the time frame in which was indicated to us that he would be at our home. :) I recieved a phone call from one of the owners of the company who took the time to hear me and to learn a few things also. Now I can finally sit back and Enjoy my new beautiful windows! = This is one happy Momma!

One thing that I am seeing here is that almost every commenter had to have Weathergard
return to resolve some issue. I had Wallside replace all of the windows in my home and
a sliding patio door as well. The sales person was prompt and efficient, the factory delivered
the windows and door promptly and efficiently, the installers were prompt, efficient and
highly skilled, even used my supplied spray foam insulation to seal all openings during the
installation, it has been 8 years now since the install, all windows still look brand new,
function beautifully and have reduced my heating cost as well as provided a much quieter
indoor environment. These windows are high quality and cost efficient, the best value in
a replacement window on the market, period.

I am a professional rhetorician, as in I teach rhetoric at one of the three major universities in this state.
I certify that in my professional opinion there is a better than 80% likelihood that multiple comments on this board are Weathergard managers, employees, owners.
The first comment is far, far too detailed to be anything but authentic. Pro-Tip as a former business owner, Weathergard if you aren't going to have better crews, then have at least one or two A-teams and fix problems 150%.
Do not compound it (Mary, Dan, John, et al) by going on to a comment board and lying. Doing that causes this to happen.

Everyone can read the truth in the first comment. We all understand how to lie, every person learns it as a child, most grow out of it.
Clearly, you three and friends didn't.

The truth is the truth and I recommend that anyone choosing to do business with these people do so with the Donna's review in mind, but also Mary, Dan, and John's sleazy, unethical, lame, lazy, stupid, insulting, and foolish attempt to discredit the person who was wronged by their company.

There is no other explanation for the aggressive attempt to discredit her.
It is that simple. As I reread, I'm more at 95%+ likelihood. Sure, I buy the windows, they are great, so someone else's experience sucked. What is my response? Sympathy for them and testimony that my experience was not as bad.
Under no circumstances that I can imagine, would a stranger, a customer reviewing the company have motivation to denigrate Donna.
The only explanation, if we follow the razor, is that their interest in discrediting her comes from their employment at Windowgard.

Weathergard Windows uses the same hollow huge framed window and sash they used in 1989 and I know because I had weathergard windows installed in 1989 and the only difference is the glass package which every company uses now. Its a joke how much glass you loose using the huge framed windows weathergards been using forever . Why would a so called good company use such old hollow windows when every great company uses foam filled up to date windows, like the one poster said its like using a ten year old computer which nobody wants. Just because companies sell bs talk instead of foam filled DO NOT be fooled by bs artists like this sales guy Marvin Chappell was from weathergard. Nice try marv your stories are BS like your old hollow cheap window!

Its hard to believe that a company would send out installers who don't have tools or ladders to replace windows, and then ask a customer to use there tools. What was the name of these installers? Larry, Moe and Currly. Who can you trust? I have been reading reviews of a lot of window companies, and a lot of unhappy customers, I need new windows, but who can you trust, are bad reviews written by fired employees. Can some one tell me any truth about a good window company who goes through there contractors that have good work standards. Please help me if you know of any good company

I feel it would have been helpful, while reading these comments, if people were honest about the quality in comparison to price. We will be replacing windows in our home soon. After having Weatherguard come out to give us a price, they have never called again to see if we have made a choice or to be in contact at all. That in itself concerns me because follow-up calls are always part of good customer service.
I guess I'll have to have Wallside come out and give their talk next.

I found this complaint while searching to see if WeatherGard windows are available in Kentucky. My experience with WeatherGard was completely different than the original poster. We purchased a house in Michigan in 2012, and WeatherGard was offering 2 for 1 windows at that time. We met with the salesperson who provided us information and a demonstration of their windows. We didn't feel pressured at all, but we were satisfied by the information and decided to purchase their windows. We replaced all of the windows in our house except our basement windows. This totaled 18 windows plus a sliding glass door. The installers were friendly and professional. They did a great job installing everything, and they cleaned up after themselves. We never had issues with cold air around the windows in the winter and weren't aware of any heat escaping.

We moved out earlier this summer, and as we painting and preparing our house to move, I did notice some moisture damage in the drywall around the window sills, but it didn't look recent, and it may have been there prior to the windows being installed. The wood frames that were installed around each window were not damaged at all and showed no moisture damage.

While cleaning windows, we broke one of the rods that holds the window up when you open it, and we broke one of the locking mechanisms. We had also noticed that the sliding glass door didn't always lock when you depressed the locking mechanism, and we realized that the door was out of balance (which was causing the locking mechanism not to engage). There was a slight gap at the top (you could actually see daylight) when the door was fully closed.

They have a lifetime warranty (for the original owner), so we called WeatherGard, and we did not have any of our original paperwork or receipt. They were able to look us up by our address. They sent someone out to repair everything, free of charge, and he completed all 3 repairs in under 10 minutes. They also reminded us that the warranty is transferable to the new owner for 30 years. All they had to do was call WeatherGard, provide our name, and their proof of purchase (of the house), and the warranty would be transferred.

I can't say that no one has ever had negative experiences with the company or their customer support, but I can say that my experience has been purely positive.
