I reciently received a number of phone calls from men, claiming to be from a company, winners inernational. They advised me that I had won a sweepstakes lotto, and was entitled to a large sum of money. They said to keep it confidential, so that know one would try to rob me. Funny, it was them who was trying to rob me. They were very persistant, and called me for a few days, before I started screening my phone calles. If you recieve any phone calls like this, it is a scam, also check out td financial for the latest scam, which I also recieved a few days after the phone calls. They want you to wire / money gram them money, to cover, insurance, or state taxes on the supposed money that you have won. They assure you that you will recieve your money immediately after paying. Don't do it, it's a scam.
We have been harrassed several times today from Winners International, saying we have won 2 1/2 million dollars and only needed to send $100 by Western Union and when I told him we did not have $100 dollars, he said could we send $50. We suspected it was a scam and looked it up on the internet. Thanks for all the info.
my daughter they called her and says she won 260, 000 dollars and bmw car 2010 they want her to sent 350 dollars to get the prize and they say there be there tomorrow then it was the other day that's when they call her back and say you have to send more money and then calling again every 5 minutes and she send the money and they told her they told her to going to be at her home with the check and the BMW 2010 and they called after and say to her that the guy said they had problems with other guy the name is James Adams.and they want her to pay the storage for the car BMW 2010 and they want her to send forty five to hold the car. Please try to find these people and shut them down.
Sad...I spent 25 minutes with poor Steve Mathews who desperately tried to convince me to send 399.00 to cover the insurance on the delivery of my "package" which would fill me in on where to get my car and $$$. He spoke very slowly with an odd accent. After toying with him for sometime, he became very angry, called me a "b**ch and a "cracker motherf***er" in a VERY different accent...lol. He caught himself and apologized to me and STILL tried to get me to come up with money, even offering me a "deal" by paying half the fee. How dare these people be allowed to prey on our elderly...[censor] of the earth... Please warn any of your elderly friends or relatives about this scam.
I just received a similar call. The caller ID showed : [protected].
A man with a heavy accent called to say that I had won $2.5 million dollars, a new car, and a year's worth of free gas. It sounded like he was calling from a cell phone. I knew right away it was a scam, but kept him on the phone for a few minutes to try to get more info.
He said that my name had been submitted to Gold Rush Casino in "Anderson" Nevada (when it's actually in Henderson, NV). He said that they had gotten my information from me filling out a "coupon" to win a trip. When I told him that I didn't remember filling out such a coupon, he then continued by saying that it may have been my husband. I said that might be possible, and he then continued and said that they may have also gotten my name from me paying my utility bill or using my credit card when shopping.
When I started to ask questions, and say that it didn't sound real, he started to get rude and pushy!
I finally told him that I had googled the Gold Rush Casino and that a bunch of scam reports came up. I told him I wasn't interested and hung up.
Watch out!
I just received a phone call from a "private number". I don't usually take these calls, but occasionally it is someone that I do know. Well, this time it was Winner's International telling me that as a 2nd place winner I was to receive, at 3:30 today, $3, 000, 000 and a new Mercedes Benz car. I was to have qualified for this wonderful prize because I had spent more than $5 at a grocery store. When I asked which store, he said "do you spend $5 at the grocery store?" He could not name a particular store name. He had a very thick accent and I had a very difficult time understanding him. I asked to speak to a manager and another voice came on the line, higher in pitch, but the same thick accent and just as vague. I asked him where he was from and he said his "company" was in Las Vegas, NV. I pressed him further and then he said that he was from California and South Carolina. He said that he was a man of God and would not lie to me. He seemed to become frustrated that I was questioning him. He had my address and said that my "package" would be delivered after I went to Western Union by Walmart, as if there was only one Walmart and one Western Union in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The light bulb in my head finally went off and I got online while talking to him, and guess what? I found the exact stories from other scam potential victims for Winner's International describing exactly what I was experiencing at the time. I told him that I found his company online and did not believe that he was on the up and up and declined his "offer" and hung up. I feel really stupid that I talked to him as long as I did. Don't fall for this guy.
I too received a call today stating that I won some money from a company I have never heard of! He gave my husband a number and account number for me to call back, when I did, I could not get through. My husband stated that he sounds like he is from the islands. I knew first hand it was a scam, I just hope no one falls for these [censor], terrible dishonesty.
I think I finally got them to stop calling. My father lives with me and they have been calling for him for the last five weeks, sometimes 3 and 4 times a day. They have never spoken to him since he doesn't answer the phone and I'm not about to let a call like that through to him. I tried the standard stop calling I know you're just a scam and cussing them out. I don't understand why they even keep trying after that. I assume they think if they keep at it you'll give in and start believing them since they're so persistent.
Anyway, since I only have one person who calls that has their callerID blocked every time the ID was PRIVATE NAME/PRIVATE NUMBER or UKNOWN NAME/UNKNOWN NUMBER I'd automatically answer the phone with "Winners International this is Craig how may I direct your call." The first two calls I answered like that they argued with me about them being Winners International and how "You People" never understand.
On the third call from them that day [side note: the first two calls were unknown/unknown, the third was private/private but I answered this call with my Winners International this is Craig...] They again began berating me for not understand at which point, even though I have a landline, I went into a bunch of untrue BS about them not being smart enough to filter out VoIP numbers from their phone list and how the computer was telling me their call was coming from a cellphone in Jamaican and if I upgraded my software it would even give me a Google Earth map showing what cell tower they are using (all of of which is made-up nonsense).
I got one more call the next day which I answered with "Winners International this is...BLAH BLAH BLAH". Once they started arguing that they were WI, I turned their usual bit around by telling them how I was glad they called back because they needed to provide me with the Western Union confirmation number and the number and expiration date of the Visa they used to pay for it so that I could get their $5 million check sent to them. At that point they hung up and it has been 8 days now without a call from them!
I just got the call today...Won 1.5 million from Winner's International. I need to send them $179 to Ms Shauna Palmer @ 4042 North West Street, Lauderhill, FL 33312..Phone # [protected]. This person who called me had a local number [protected] listed to Gregory Nichols on my caller ID, however he told me his name was James Schnider [protected]. Gave me a number in California to call to make sure this is not a scam...Yeah, right. There was a baby crying in the back ground and the man could hardly read or speak English...Not a Scam...of course not!
I have also recieved the call! They said that I won $850, 000 and I had to send $150 western union. Darien then told me that the FBi, a lawyer and someone from the company would be coming to my house and escorting me to my bank to deposit my winnings. He then said my picture would be posted on their website (no website even exsists) and that they would be throwing a party. Huge scam people! DON"T DO IT! NEVER western union money to anyone!
I got a phone call at 10am and the guy called from [protected] and said to call [protected]. I had won 2.5 million dollars. I thought yeah right. I called the number and the lady's name was Beverly Simmons, and she said that my VISA credit card application gave my a nomination for this award. BUT I have never used my VISA and I just got it in the mail. They said that I needed to get a money gram from $250.00. I told them I didn't have $250.00 and Beverly told me that the Tresurey department could take care of half, but I still had to pay $125.00. I am not going to pay to recieve money. I asked if they could take the $125 out of the winings and she said I couldn't because that money is mine and they can't touch it. The money would be great, but I don't remember signning up for a $2.5 million dollar sweepstakes. I wish there was a way to get back at these people. It is cruel to tell someone that their dreams are answered and then take from them. WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T GIVE MONEY TO GET IT, ESPECIALLY IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.
I'm also one almost fell for it I caugth on to them right by looking them on goolge and this comment I see they been do this for a while I hope they get caugth!
I, too, have received several calls recently from Winners International. They are telling me that I too was the winner of 2.5 million dollars, and also a convertible mercedes. I even so much as told them to call my local police station and talk to an officer. And that if he would call me, and tell me this is all on the upty up, that I might go along with it. I was told that they were already in the town where I lived and that they needed me to pay $199.00 for them to deliver the car to me, and that they would also give me a check when the car was delivered, and I was to pay them $2, 500 also out of the check that they were giving me. Truthfully, I never believed a word of it. The man however, did call the police dept. and talked to the officer that I had talk to before this man had a chance to call. The policeman told me not to go for it. Infact he told the guy to bring the car by the police dept. so that he could see for himself, then he would give me a call. The man, with a unusal accent calls me then one more time. When I finally told him I was not going to go for it, he started cursing me out something terrible. He then hung up and I hung up. But today, a different man called me. And I too, reported this to the police. Not much more can be done.
I conscider myself LUCKY
Thank you so much for posting thish information. It was your post that kept me from getting got.because they called me today and while I was on the phone with them I decided to google winners international and your post came up in big red letters.
I have been receiving phone calls from an unknown number for several days now. After ignoring them for two days, I decided to go ahead and answer the call one Saturday afternoon. The guy spoke with an accent, later recognized as Jamaican, and told me he was with Winners International. He said that they were ready to deliver me a prize of $450, ooo and a New Mercedes. I asked about the contest, and he told me the Oprah Winfrey was rewarding random people that had paid their bills on time. He explained that they were covering 95% of the shipping fees on the car, but I would need to take care of the remaining 5% (a sum of $299.00) in order to qualify for tax-free status. According to him, "President Mo-Bama" had approved that the winnings be tax-free under these conditions. I asked where he was if he was going to be delivering the prize, and he said, "We are right in your neighborhood".
I asked where exactly he was, he asked me to hold, and then he read out my address. I asked if he was in my yard, and then he replied no. I asked where he was then. Then he told me "at the airport". I asked "What airport?" He then said, "The airport in your city. What do you think?" I then told him that there was no airport in my city, and he tried to tell me that he was at the one that closest to my house.
I then asked him if he had been sitting there at the airport for a few days because I did not get a chance to talk to him. He said that he was in Las Vegas before, but he had flown in that day because he wanted to be there to deliver my prize. I then asked him again what airport he was at, and he could not name the airport. He could not even name the city that the airport was in, 20 miles from me. I then badgered him until he finally hung up because I did "not want to be a winner." I assured him that I wanted the money and asked if he would please just answer my questions. He told me that he was going to give the prize to someone else because I was doubting his honesty.
Two days later, I am getting a call from "his manager" and now the prize is $2.5 million dollars, but I have to pay $399 now instead of $299. This time the new guy (sounded just like the first) is at the home office in Las Vegas. That is because they had to store my Mercedes for a couple of extra days. I told him to let me run to the Western Union, and I would call him back. He gave me a number to call him back to verify after it was done. The number was [protected]. It checks out as a number in Jamaica. I have caught these guys in so many lies and slip ups when I talk to them that it is ridiculous.
I have done nothing but laugh at these people because it is so obviously a scam.
Got a call for my mother this morning. She had won a third place prize. Since I have power of atty for her I should call Mr Fisher of Winners International at [protected] for the details. Yes there is "a small fee involved to insure the prize delivery." The caller ID showed the same # as the one I was instructed to call back in 15-30 min. Her information was from "electronic registration" haha. Scam, I think so . . .
my wife was told she won money and a car"RIGHT" a cold day in hell. they would deliver on Monday I guess we were born today! these people didn't have any answers that made sense about the so called prizes. i do have a couple of numbers. San Fernando, Ca. [protected] & Cell number [protected] . It's a shame that the Police can do nothing about Dumb calls.Everybody should call them and say they won a prize A TRIP TO JAIL all paid. DON, T BE A SUCKER!
I have gotten the same thing as the rest of you guys. I have won 7.5 million though, just wire my $499.00 to Oshame Campbell, via Western Union, located in Jamaica. I ran an area code search on the phone numbers they were calling me from, [protected] is a landline located in Houston, Texas. The other number, [protected], is apparently a cell phone number based out of Jamaica. I am planning on contacting my local sheriff and busting the Texas location, who knows maybe they can nail them and save someone who really needs every dime they have to survive. Shame on these people! Most people know, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't! Especially if you haven't registered or paid for a ticket to win a prize. Mark Murrey is the name of the supposed name of the guy who has been calling me, but of course they can pick any name they want to, Mark Murrey is probably the name of the guy they called before me. They probably are useing my name now, so if anybody calls you useing my name to give away a bunch of money, DON'T BELIEVE THEM! I don't have any to give away! Keep your guard up everybody, there are a lot of rotten people out there that are to lazy to earn their own money so they work at stealing yours!
Hi, I just got a call day before yesterday from a guy named Victor Hernandez (which changed to Fernandez the next day). He claimed he worked for UPS, and that UPS was holding my prize of 2.5 million dollars and a brand new BMW. They claimed that I had won this prize from Winner's International, and it was being held in Iowa, LA, which is about 50 miles away from Lafayette, where I live. They knew my phone number and my address and everything. I was on the road, and having trouble understanding this man with his thick accent, so I called my sister and had her call. him back. She asked him how I had won this so called big prize, and he told her that I won for two reasons, 1. I paid all my electric bills on time and 2. I used a visa credit card at walmart and kmart. BY this time, my [censored] alarm was really going off. Let me tell you why. My light bill is in my mom's name, and though I have 2 credit cards, I have no visa card, I have discover and MC, and kmart has been closed down for 10 years in my city, nearest one is 30 miles away and I never go there. But the last part is what I didn't get. I was to get a western union cashier's check and give it to the UPS guy who was to deliver my car. I'm thinking "what kind of stupid freaking scam is this?" the dumbest one ever, becuase if nobody shows up with a car and a check, they don't get any money... But yesterday, I got a friend to call, pretending to be me, and mess with him a little, and make him trip over his own toungue (that was pretty fun I have to say) He then told us his name was Victor Fernandez and that I have to send a western union wire of $150 to someone named Damian ____? (I don't remember) in New York, and then they would send my car at 6:30 yesterday afternoon. I (she) told him I had a check for him at my house ready for the driver. he says no I have to wire money to this person now. I said "thats not what you said yesterday". we accused him of running a scam, and he began to get angry, saying he was just doing his job, and we told him he should get an honest job instead of trying to take advantage of people like this. He hung up on us. He called me back again today, and I told him, you come to my house with a car in my name, and a check, and I will give you $150, not until. I'm no fool, I didn't believe him from the first. If I won something, prove it to me. But you know if someone tries to make you pay for something that you so say won, it's a scam. This is my second scam. I brought the first one to the FBI, and I intend to turn this one over to them also. I suggest you do the same. These MFers need to be stop. Thney prey on poor people and old people, and those they think are stupid. My mama didnt raise no fool...
In the past 3 weeks I have recieved 100's of calls saying i won millions but they always want money from me what a scam alot of calls from jamacia i even got one man to admit it was a scam! Don't answer any call from 202 or 876 area codes they are all scams. I have tryed everything to stop these calls. Finally found Phone busters they will stop these calls for u just call [protected] or go to www.recol.ca u also need to call the attorney general to report these calls at [protected]
When we picked up the phone they introduced themselves, and then saying we have won 5.5 mil dollars. We then asked why they said because we shoped at wal-mart and paid our bills on time. I know this was fake right away because i dont shop at wal-mart. You wont know it is them because collar id has then as privite caller. But if you pick up the phone the will tell you who they are and they will have very thick accent. DONT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. You can talk to them and mess with them, (i wish i would have). Ask them questions they get mad, rude, and pushy. Ask what there websites name is, because if they were a legit compony they would have one, you could also ask if they could just take some of the money they need out of the money you "won". I bet they will hang up. JUST DONT FALL FOR IT!
i got a call not that long ago i didnt quite catch the name of the company or of the guy but im pretty sure it was winners international who else would try to scam people comstantly anyways this one didnt have an accent at all he sounded in his early 20's and like if he was a rooki he said " hello may i ask who im speaking with" i told them my name and he said "i have some papers here stating that you won $1m" i laughed and hung up on him the number came out as unknown first of all you dont get money for free especially if you dont participate in any sort of lottery or stuff like that and if he had "paper work" then my name would be there instead of asking who am i speaking with they would directly go and ask for the person they want to speak with, they would not be calling this late or anything i right away knew it was a scam and if i would have known it was them i would have never answered i never answer blocked calls but i was wondering who was calling me this late dont fall for these [censor] scam! they go after poor innocent people i dont know why they cant make a decent living like we all do!
Just received a call within the hour stating I had won 2 million dollars and a 2010 Mercedes Benz. Had to wire a Joyce McNaughton at Bank of America $459.99 within 3 days (this supposedly covers federal taxes) to claim my check which would be delivered to my home. When I asked for his name he told be James Parker at 1-876.838-0974 and he was affiliated with MegaMillions who used to be called Winners International. Obviously a SCAM. A repeat of last year right before the holidays. Don't fall for it. I just don't like that they had my cell phone #, name and a full address. Hpt.Va.
YES, THESE JAMAICAN PEOPLE NEED SERIOUS HELP. HOW COULD YOU TRY TO SCAM SOMEONE AROUND THE HOLIDAYS KNOWING THAT PEOPLE ARE LIMITED IN MONEY ANYWAY. I HAD SOMEONE CALL ME TELLING ME I WON 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS AND A BMW AND WHILE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT WHAT I NEEDED TO DO TO GET IT I JUST STARTED THINKING...FIRST OF ALL IF IM GETTING 1.5 MILLION I CAN GET MY OWN BMW. HE STATED THAT I HAD TO WIRE HIM $499 DOLLARS. I TOLD JOHN(SO CALLED) I AM NOT WIRING HIM NOTHING HE CAN JUST FORGET IT ANDIT JUST DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT AT ALL TO ME AND HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW MY NAME OR THE STATE THAT I STAYED IN. ALSO, HIS NAME WAS JOHN SMITH WITH A JAMACIAN ACCENT. NOW U KNOW THAT DON;T SOUND RIGHT AT ALL SO I CALLED BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU THEN I FILED A REPORT. I JUST HOPE THESE PEOPLE GET WHAT THEY DESERVE BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE THIS SCAM AND WIRE MONEY.
A man called stating that I had won a $5.5 M reward through filling out some coupons. I asked what company it was through and he said Winner International. I immdiately looked it up while I was still on the phone and saw it was a scam. He wanted to send me a certified check and needed my address. I told him that I knew it was a scam and he hung up the phone. BEWARE - if it's too good to be true, it's probably is!
My mother age 80 had received a call yesterday that my dad age 90 had won$250, 000.00 (twohundred fifty thousand dollars). My mother thought that she said the lady was with Winners International and they were part of Publishers Clearing House and they were offilated Said that she would have to send $395.95 to cover the processing and activation fee on the winnings. And that she had to go to Walmart to get a money pack reload or local drug store to take care of the processing fee. They also told her that they would be there in 2 weeks to present them with the winnings. They also asked her to let them know if she wanted to have the television station, radio station or news paper to cover the winnings. Of course my mom said private. She did get the phone number from her. She called me immeditaly regarding this issue. I than called them up, and got a voicemail without a name. So I called them the next morning, a lady answered said her name was Tina Baxter that it was $3.95 to cover the pricessing fee, not $395.95. Tina said that they would take care of it with my mother and that they would be sending her a letter in the mail so that she knew what to do next. They than called my mother back within a few minutes, and said that they were sending the letter to her regarding the processing fee. Well, it sounded so fishy, and I know it was a SCAM. So I than checked on the internet and GOOGLED- Winners International to see what this was all about and found this SCAM infomation area. PLEASE make sure you talk to your parents especially if they are older, like my parents. They tend to go after the elderly, I was told by the police. Winners International is a SCAM so make sure your parents don't lose out on their retirement by thinking that these calls are for real, they are very conviencing.
I am now very convinced that this is total SCAM! These guys have been calling me since 8am its now 1pm 5 hours of consistent calling they are offering me 2.5M and a brand new Mercedes Benz(2010) I told them I don't have enough money so the guy said he was going to pay half of it for me just to prove that he really wants me to get the price. I am supposed to pay them through western union $300 only then wait for them to deliver my price at my home in the afternoon. The guy has been calling me forever and am wondering why should I pay to get my price isn't this crazy. Be careful guys these people are based in Jamaica and the govt can't reach them. I just called 911 and they say they can't help.
I received the call today. I hung up before finding the details. Then they left a message. TOO funny, there was a guy yelling in the background of the message. Glad we can post this stuff.
It has taken me two weeks to convince my elderly father that whoever has been calling him regarding him winning 2 million dollars was a scam.. I stayed home from work to be here when this person called. My father could never remember the name of the person calling. The person, with an accent, gave me his named Robert Jones and the address of 256 High St in Las Vegas and a phone number of [protected]. When the call came through and I got the name of the company "Winners International" I immediately got on the internet and looked it up. I told the guy his company was nothing but a scam and he hung up on my us.. I tried to call him back to see why he hung up on us and there was a recording with a woman's voice, again with an accent. The good part of this whole experience is that my father now knows it is a scam, something that was hard to convince him until I got the information here. I am thankful that others have made complaints. Now, I wish there was a way to stop these jerks. Especially when it seems they like to prey on the elderly.. I did call the police on this issue, a week ago, when the guy told my father he was having someone come to our home to deliver a "box". The officer, who came to our home, told us to call 911 if someone we did not know pulled into our driveway, of course, no on showed up.. I hope this helps someone else keep their parent from being scammed.. I just wonder how much money has been made by these idiots by these means... Sickening...

I just received the same phone call stating they were an hour and 11 min. from my home. Gave my name and address with correct spellings on each. I played along for a few min. because I thought it was my ex-husband( he does stuff like that sometimes), but after a few min. when he didn't start laughing I asked who this was. He told me he had already explained who he was and why he was calling and asked if I was some kind of [censored] or something. Asked if I wanted my prize or not. So I played along to get info, hoping to help authorities to track them down. He told me to send the money (Western Union) to an attorney, Juliet Anderson, to St. James, Jamaica. So that I would be insured that this was not a scam.(which he stated over and over again) He said that he was the Head Manager @ Winner's International, Mr. Kevin Peterson. Asked if I had possession of the 5% of the sales tax that the government didn't already pick up ($1, 889) that I would have to pay before receiving my check and how long it would take me to go to the nearest Western Union and return home. He told me to put the letters WI in front of my name. He stated I would need to hand the receipt to the driver that would be bringing me the check for 5.5 mil. and my 2011 Mercedes Benz. Told me to call back when I had arrived back home @ [protected]. Also stated that if anyone was to call or contact me regarding my winnings to ask for the government code_ which was LX22. He said he "did not want me to be on the wrong side. I hope this helps someone else. I just wish we could find a way to stop them. I'm embarrassed to say I actually was scammed about a year ago when I was trying to buy a dog. They wanted me to send them a Western Union to pay for part of the flight taxes on the dog to be shipped directly to my front door. They had official looking e-mail and paperwork. I did then they needed more which I refused and contacted American Airlines (which I should have done 1st) They told me it was a scam, there is no taxes that have to be paid by the receiver and no special fees for dogs. The lady then assured me, after I refused and told her what I had found out that the dog was already @ the airport and would not have anywhere to go if I did not pay this. Live and Learn.
I just got off the phone with a "Mr. Kevin Peterson" supposed Head manager At Winner's International. I thought @ 1st it was my ex-husband(he does things like that every once in a while) He stated that I had won 5.5 mill and a brand new Mercedes Benz. That the government had picked up 95% of the taxes but I was still responsible for $1, 889. (When he didn't start laughing I realized it wasn't my ex) I asked who this was. He immediately got irate and said he had already told me who this was and what he was calling about. Asked if I was some kind of a [censored] or something. I was offended so I continued to play along to get more info hoping to help the authorities in tracking them down. He told me I would need to Western Union $1, 889 to a lawyer ( so I would know this isn't a scam-as if) Juliet Anderson in St. James, Jamaica. He also said not to talk to anyone @ Western Union about this, and if they asked to say that I was sending it to my sister. Told me to put WI in front of my name and call him back @ [protected] when I had returned back home. He told me that if anyone called asking about this to ask for the government Code (which was LX22) and if they could not provide that not to speak with them. He said because he did not want me on the wrong side. I immediately went on-line to look up the company and found the complaints board. Then I called the Sheriff's Dept. here who told me that all they can really do is take down the info and put it on the federal website which is ic3.gov. There you can provide all the info you need to the federal government to help them track the criminals. FYI they HAVE to stop using names and telephone numbers when they have been reported with that name/number. That is why it's always different. Hope this helps.

This just happened to me today. I was told I won 2.5 million dollars and a 52 inch plasma tv. I was told I was entered into the drawing by using my VISA card, coupons, walmart, card, or by paying my utility bills on time as well. The guy said his name was David Foster from Gold Rush International or Winners International (www.winnersinternational.com). He didn't have time to get into the meat of the scam with me because I was to busy asking him questions, but the call sounded clearly like a scam. He didn't know my home address, he wasn't able to give me his exact address or phone number right away, and wouldn't give me a strait answer for why he couldn't just show up and give me a cashiers check. After asking him over and over he told me his address was 1917 Santee Ave, Colombia, South Carolina 29133 and his phone number he gave me was [protected] (but the caller ID said [protected]). I set an appointment to meet with him this Friday at our local police station where he said he would be giving me a check. I told him to call me an hour before he arrives. I am guessing we won't be meeting.
I was just called by someone from Winner's International who said my name was picked at random and that I had just won $1, 000, 000.
All I had to do was to send $450 by Western Union and people and the media would show up on my doorstep at 3pm in the afternoon.
As we were talking I went on my computer and this site came up. I told the fellow on the phone what I saw, that it was a scam. He argued that he was a God-fearing Christian and it was not a scam. I would see that after I wired him the money. I told him never to call me again or I would report it to the police. Them I hung up. P.S. The police said they couldn't do anything unless I was actually scammed. These people need to be stopped. He mentioned something to me about being a senior citizen. These are some of the people they are targeting. Most are not computer literate and many are alone. I think what they are doing is horrible.
My husband got a call from a man who says his name is J.T. Harris and that he won 3.5 million but he had to send $250.00 dllrs western union. My husband asked him how he got his number and Mr. Harris said that my husband has been paying back each year with IRS and now it's his time to get paid back. After my husband hung up he called me at work and I told him it was a scam and that I would look it up on the internet. Sure enough google Winner's International and up popped up these complaints. Thanks for the warning! Somebody needs to stop these people w/accents. And Mr. J.T.Harris needs to be warned his name is being tarnished...The man keeps calling my husband on his cell phone...they are persistance, they must think us Americans are dumb!
I recently got a call saying that I had won two hundred fifty million dollars. They also asked for $265.23 for fees. They said that my money was on its way today.I told them I didn't have money like that and they said Im sorry but we have to have the fee money first for you to receive your prize money. The name of the person is Roswald Johnson. The number is [protected].He even said that theyre was a code .Dont fall for this.
How are the same scam artists going on with the same scam for years? Isn't there something we can do? They continuously call here as well, stating I won 2.5 million plus $2500 in cash and a new 2011 mercedes! All I have to do is send them $300. I had to laugh, as I was asking him questions I could hear roosters in the background!
