I requested the cancellation of my account in June 2024. ZoneFitness agents had been calling me daily to ask if I was still happy with plan and whether I knew anyone who was interested in joing. On each and every call that I received daily in the month of June, I informed all agents that I'd like the account cancelled as I'd be going on Maternity soon. I explained that I had never set foot in the Gym since taking the membership and had no problem with the debits but was going on Maternity leave soon and wouldn't be able to make the payments anymore. I eventually also got a call from Naeem, the agent who helped me take the membership in the first. I also informed him the same. I asked him for an email address I couls use to send my cancellation request and thats when he advised that I send him a WhatsApp text that he'd forward to management as there was an issue with emails. I did as he requested. A few days later Naeem called again and to my suprise he asked if I was happy with the plan and if there was anyone I knew who was interested in joining. I reminded him of our previous telecom where I had requested a cancellation and him advising me to send a WhatsApp text. His response was that he thought I wanted the account paused. A debit had gone off and I was irritated. I told him I never requested the account to be paused and that the WhatsApp text specifically stated my requeat was to cancel. He again set the expectation that he'd forward the text to management. As I speak my account has not been cancelled and Im going back to work soon. My concern is that the arrears amount will be debited and im even morw irated that 5 months later the contract has still not been cancelled. Today I decided to text Naeem about the matter and the whole experience with him has left a bitter taste in my mouth. He even had the audacity to call me naive for pointing out that he's lying. He says that he called in November to ask me to come to the store to cancel. Even after I reminded him that our telecom in November was regarding the membership I had just taken, he stuck to his lies stating that that he called so that I could come cancel. He never, not once told me to come cancel in store. The only communication we had regarding cancellation was that I should send a WhatsApp text stating I'd like to cancel. If ZoneFitness debits me once Im back at work I will be taking the matter to Ombusman. Tomorrow I'm going to the Police Station for an Affidavit. I so wish I read reviews of this Gym before joining

It looks like you have communicated several times the need to cancel your services with Zone Fitness, and yet still your cancellation hasn't gone through. I can understand how the lack of response and the continued debits are very annoying. Since you indicated that you have already kept a record of such communication, the next level is to take the matter higher within the organisation, either through the higher line management or writing a formal complaint. If that is not successful, triggering a claim through the ombudsman or through a consumer protection organisation may be your best bet. If they keep debiting your account, it would be reasonable to consider chargeback through your bank. You have shown more than enough patience, and therefore explicitly spelling out your intent to sue, for example, getting the affidavit drawn, would also resolve the issue once and for all.
