I was taken aback by this information and felt like I was being baited into spending more money.

I was disappointed by this experience and left wondering why they would list a camera as an import version if it wouldn't work in the USA.
I do want to note that I have a Nikon D750 that is an import version and it works perfectly fine. So, I am not sure why the representative was so insistent that the Nikon D850 import version wouldn't work in the USA. Overall, I was disappointed by my experience with 42nd Street Photo and would caution others to be wary of their sales tactics.

In the end, no charge was made at all, which left me feeling like the company was just trying to waste my time and make money by scamming and lying to people without being caught by banks or other authorities.
Overall, I would advise others to avoid the headaches and not support this company. While they may offer lower prices on their site, the potential for being misled and scammed is not worth it in my opinion.

I recently bought a camera and some gear from 42nd Street Photo to work on a project. I went to the store and talked to the salesperson there about the items and what I was looking for. I was happy with my purchase and went home to start using my new camera. However, when I opened the box, I realized that the camera was in white color instead of the black color I asked for in store. It wasn't a big deal, but I wanted to exchange it for the one I wanted.
I checked online and found out that I paid $899 for a camera that cost around $600-$700. I was upset and felt cheated. However, I saw on their website that there is a refund policy within 10 days of purchase. So, I decided to return the camera and get my money back.
I went back to the store today to return the item, and I was shocked when the same salesperson who sold it to me told me that there is no refund policy at all. He also casually mentioned that he sold me the more expensive item as the white camera costs more than the black. I was furious and felt like I was being scammed. He insisted that the store only did exchanges or store credit but nothing else.
I left the store feeling cheated and angry. I decided to put in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to let others know about my experience. I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through.
Overall, my experience with 42nd Street Photo was disappointing. I felt like I was being taken advantage of, and the salesperson was not helpful at all. I would not recommend this store to anyone.

I ordered a nikon d7200 online for the price of $649. Jack called my home a few days later and chatted with my grandson. According to Jack what was ordered was a demo Japanese language model, contrary to their web site that boasted "brand New" one. He said it would cost an additional $300 to get the English model camera. He kept saying no then the price came down to eventually $100 more which he conned him into it, mind you he is a minor who is not on my cc account.
After reading reviews from others it looks like this bait and switch lies practice of theirs is common play for them. What kind of business does this other than con artists. And you can bet that all along it was the same product they just scam you for as much more as they can.
So if you want to be lied to, scammed for more money and charged for priority shipping and receive ground shipping then buy from them but if you want to be treated right and not basically robbed stay away from these guys

Exactly right. I would also advise to contact your cc bank and have cancel that card and have them reissue you a new card and number, because you can't trust them.

I've decided to buy a new camera and found 42nd Street Photo website. First of all I went online and checked the reviews. Fount their Facebook page and was really impressed with all the positive reviews. Well this site seemed pretty safe. Now I know that these reviews were fake.
So I placed my order and bought and purchased Canon camera. When it finally arrived it was broken and did not work how it should to. I contacted them and asked for a refund. They said that there was nothing wrong with the camera and it was completely new. But it was defective and as I said before was not working properly. They said that refund was possible and said that I have to pay for the return shipping and that I will also be charged a restocking fee (20%)! Terrible! They have the worst return policy ever!

I was looking for a specific camera and found one on www.42photo.com website. I contacted them right away because I really needed some advice what lens to buy with my camera. Customer service rep was nice and friendly and after our conversation I finally placed my order.
The strange part was that I received no payment confirmation and no tracking number, so I was not sure did the payment went through or not. They said that everything was fine and promised that I'll get all the necessary information later.
I waited patiently for about a month but there was no sign of my order! And they did not keep their promise and I received no tracking number as well. Contacted them and asked them to cancel my order. They refused and said that it was not possible since it was already shipped. I asked for a tracking number and they said they did not have any! What?
Then I asked when will I get my camera and they replied that they have no idea. Total scam!

Did the ole Bait and Switch call for $400 more dollars, claiming the camera I chose was "International" or Gray market. Liars! Their site says nothing of the such anywhere on it. My camera had already shipped, I called Canon USA after it arrived and discovered they sent me a fake warranty card! This place is so unethical - STAY AWAY!

I just want to warn all other customers that the company www.42photo.com is very dishonest. I saw the deal on their website, but it was scam. The deal didn’t worth it and the camera was really bad-quality. When I got it, I took 4 pics and it suddenly shut down and didn’t switch on again. The seller found a lot of excuses, why they could change it, but when I told them that it was their fault, the seller stopped to reply to my emails. Run from this dishonest people.

I bought digital camera from the company www.42photo.com. I got all info about the purchase and delivery. I waited 10 days and haven’t received the order. Therefore, I contacted the owners and asked to help me. The seller was angry and rude with me. He refused to provide any info, because it was secure and he wasn’t sure that I was real buyer. Some nonsense! Now, I tried to get info again, but the situation was the same. Total fraud.
Tricked into buy extra overpriced items
Company with the lowest price for a Cannon Powershot G15. After placing an order online, they call and tell me I need a special SD card for it to work. The sales pitch I remember was "double the memory of what you order" and "I'll discount the camera to help you out".
When I got the package, my credit card charge was $100 extra for a 4gb SD card that normally sells for $25 locally. I call them and want to return the $100 SD card. What they had done was made it a "package deal" and I would have to send everything back. Shipping plus 20% restocking fee! Around $115. UNECONOMICAL I then said I would dispute it with my credit card company. Of course they had heard that before and said it wouldn't do any good. Final Offer: they would give me a $20 credit.
I doubt anybody could come out ahead by buying from this company even if you did refuse any of their "add-ons" and "must haves". I'm just surprised they didn't try to sell me the battery that comes with it.

delay in mailing
I bought Canon t3i camera last week from 42photo. Not shipped yet. I receveid a call on Thursday, 1 hours after I placed the order, to seel me a memory card. I told them I'll call back after half hour. I called him and told him that I am not interested in any other products. I have not seem the product shipped yet. If it is not shipped end of day today, I am going to cancel the order.

Customer service rep Adam ext: 5009 was a completely arrogant, rude, distasteful individual to work with. He sold me a 3 piece filter kit over the phone to go along with the lens I purchased online and didn't bother to let me know that their is a 33% restocking fee. He had no problem letting me know I could return within 10 days, but oh no, he didn't breathe a word about the restocking fee. Additionally, he didn't return my calls, refused to give me an RMA#, said he is the head person in charge and hung up on me. What a liar, I called back and spoke with Elliot who is his boss. Elliot finally gave me a RMA# for my lens kit. Buyer beware, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!
