PERTINENT INFO:
1. Our team signed up for a Terrain Race being held in Oshkosh, WI on August 26th 2023.
2. The registration was held through Active.com, billed as CE Fun Runs on the bank statement.
3. The website was terrainrace.com.
4. Emails have originated from support.tickets@bubblerun.com, active.com (race registration reminder) and support.tickets@terrainrace.com.
NATURE OF COMPLAINT:
In addition to Terrain Race, this company (known as Fit Factory LLC, Cool Events LLC and CE Fun Runs) also promotes a number of other "fun" races: Bubble Run, Foam Glow, Muddy Dash, Blacklight Run & Blacklight Slide. All races are free* to register, provided you pay for event insurance, bag check, mailing the race packets and any race swag you care to purchase. None of it arrives. The company has a history of cancelling/postponing events a week before the race date, sometimes not even notifying racers. (I have read complaints that people have shown up for packet pickup or the race day itself and been informed by the venue the race was cancelled a week before.) They do not allow refunds but instead offer a "credit" to a future race... rescheduled races have subsequently been cancelled as well. Unfortunately, they DO, however, host just enough races to be considered questionably legit, but the ratio of races cancelled to races held is way off. Just enough that a few runners & volunteers have a great time & post it on social media.
Fit Factory currently has a "F" rating with the BBB, with over 400 complaints of situations exactly like mine. Looking back on social media & the internet, complaints of similar practices have been ongoing since 2019.
With your help, I fully intend on pursuing a refund for both myself & my teammates and for doing what I can to get the word out about this fraudulent activity. I would kindly ask that you stop supporting and encouraging them by not allowing these companies to use your website as an event registration platform ever again.
Desired outcome: 1. A refund in the amount of $43.62 for myself and each of my other two teammates. 2. Active.com immediately breaks ties with each of the companies listed above so as not to encourage this to continue.
We signed up for a bubble fun run sponsored by CE fun runs. A week before the race they moved the race 40 miles north of the original location. In order for us to be at the site at 6 am we would have had to leave our home at 4:30 am. Not a lot of fun in that. Requested refund, received no communication. Now the email address says it is not valid. Do not do anything with this company.
