auto lease
Do not look for any help from ally bank, if for good reason (like your income is cut but 75% or you ran into a little trouble and need a little help. Their own people will tell you not to accept the conditions of as "a last resort", and the words were, "you will hate that you did it". I asked for an extension so that i could get my finances arranged and so that i could catch up the lease account, just a little help is what i needed. I wanted to continue paying the lease payments, i just wanted to extend them a cou0ple of months so that i could catch my breath. But no there was no help available and i could call a phone number she gave me which was to no avail. That number given had nothing to do with leasing or any information about leasing. Go figure.I told the person i was speaking to, let ally bank know that i was turning the car into the dealer, never to deal with ally bank, it's subsidiaries, friends or paid politicians. I will "never" try to deal with these people again. By the way, "they don't care either"!
If you ever lease with this company, make sure you get insurance if offered. My mother had an automobile lease with this company. Insurance was only briefly hinted at during negotiations with dealership She died after an illness of several months after leasing car. Death does not release you from a lease agreement. They will harass anyone who contacts them about their moms illness and death. The remainder of the lease had to be paid out from moms modest estate. Even after the car was returned in pristine condition with very low miles. [censor].
fighting since 2009
Just read all the complaints against GMAC/Ally and was seeing that most of the dates on the complaints are 2011 to 2014. Trust me its only just begun my truck as repo in 2008 and I was served with a judgement in 2009 I get served papers about every 30 days since then to take anything I have purchased. I have two years to go and the 10 years on the judgement will be up and if then they renew it for another 10 years I will file bankruptcy to stop the judgement which I would of done in the beginning if I had known they were gonna keep hasseling me after all this time. So good luck everyone you got a long ways to go unless you just go ahead and file bankruptcy now you will never get rid of them. I think they are just pissed off cause my credit is now perfect becouse the repo came off after 7 years and they are just hoping I will buy something they can take but I ain't stupid enough to put anything in my name for them to come take it they already took the truck then took another truck I owned and took my utility trailer. Whatever you do if you get another car or truck put it in someone elses name or they will come take it too.
I had my latest purchased repo in 2017... After losing my job & the death of my son I could no longer handle the stress of the collection calls. Requested that they come & pick up my vehicle. I asked if there was documentation that I will be given from the tow company. There is no documents during pick up. The van was picked up after 8pm on a Saturday by a snatch & grab tow truck. I received notice of 5 different dates at which my vehicle would go up for auction. In October I received notice from my insurance company of a claim that was processed on this vehicle. Ally Auto had processed a claim that damage was done to my vehicle while I had it. It sat on the Auction lot for 3mo! I contacted my insurance claims rep & told them of the manner it was picked up & how long it was in the possession of Ally Auto. My claims rep made every attempt to clarify this with Ally. All attempt was unsuccessful. I later received notice that the vehicle was sold at auction. After further reading all the documentations from my agency Claims Rep, I noticed the day the claim was filed was the exact same day as the vehicle sale date. I contacted my Claims rep & informed them of this sent all the docs I had received from Ally to them & my claim was closed without a payout. I forgot to mention I'm a licensed Insurance Agent! This is why everyone's insurance is so expensive... we have Companies trying to screw over the little people. If I was not an agent I would had just accepted this as my fault. This is a form of insurance fraud... NO ONE CAN produce a claim on a vehicle they no longer own. You can not back date a claim on a vehicle that has been sold to collect payment to repair a vehicle you no longer have possession of... educate yourself & don't just accept big company claims! This was a slap in the face
these jerks started to steal money from me and impossible to stop fake charges
People, be aware that the company Ally Credit is total rip off. I applied for the loan and got it, but after that this company started to take different fake sums from me. I was really shocked, when I noticed that money started to disappear from my account. WTF? I tried to contact the rep, but no one replied. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Can you provide any good piece of advice?
horrible customer service
In August of 2014 my mother passed away. At the time, she had a practically brand new lease on a Jeep Cherokee with Ally Financial. She had put a significant amount down to keep the payments reasonable. So, I decided that instead of fore-fitting all of that, I would like to take over the lease. We called Ally Financial and discussed this with them, they said that would not be a problem. Here we are now six months later and this really nice Jeep is sitting in my garage with expired plates because we can't get the lease transferred. We have been going through the application process with them for months. Our credit is not the issue (780 credit score). We aren't being denied. The loan process keeps getting cancelled by Ally because they say we aren't getting the information back to them in time. Ok, fine. We FAX the application into you. You respond with a letter (snail mail) that take 2 weeks to get to us saying we have 15 days from the date of the letter to get you the required information. We immediately FAX the information back to you. We call, you won't tell us ANYTHING. We wait 2 weeks, 3 weeks to hear back from you... NOTHING. We call again and try to find out the status of our application... You won't tell us anything because we aren't the executor of my mothers will... My brother (the executor calls) and you say it has been cancelled. We have played this game 5 times now. Every time they have sent us a letter it has an 800 number with an extension to call if we have questions... The extension isn't valid... We can't talk to anyone, we can't get the same person twice, we can't get this resolved. Hopefully now that we have stopped the monthly payments they will react to our requests to continue giving them money... Seriously is this how you do business? I LOVE Jeep... but if I ever have to deal with Ally again I will consider a different vehicle. THIS IS INSANE!
principal only payments
I just bought a new car and got a fairly decent interest rate - none the less I have always paid off my cars early by paying extra on the principal. So when I made my first payment I saw there was no option for this online so I called - after much coaxing I got the non-English speaking person to do as I asked and apply my extra payment to principal only. She claimed to have set it up that subsequent extra payments would be applied to principal only and not simply advancing my payments. I am sure you can see where this is going - of course every payment after is simply advancing my payments and not being applied to the principal. "Oh but you will pay off your car faster because your payments will be advanced" clearly they don't get that I don't want to pay the full interest. Unbelievable. I will try one more time - as the 40 minutes I had were not enough to get this done. After that I am moving my loan! Oh and forget trying to talk to a supervisor or getting a phone number - they don't have them - right! We all believe the supervisors and managers don't have phone numbers!
I have been making principal payments to my auto loan as I am paid up 4 months in advance on my payments. Their system will no longer allow me to enter my auto loan page. I can go in and open a checking account with them, and do anything else on their website, EXCEPT view my auto page to make payments. I did download the phone app, and there WAS an option to make a principal payment, but that disappeared after I used it once! I am directed to enter amount, then the submit payment, but again NO option as to where the $$$ should go anymore. I have no access to my auto loan page on the web. I have tried all 3 main browsers, cleaned my cache, I work online and know all things to do. I have called them 4 times, and all I got in reply "we will pass the ticket up, try in a few days." When I sign in to my auto loan page I can see 2009-Ally Financial Inc Feedback Ally Community Security Privacy Legal all on a gray page with a spinning wheel. I will leave it for hours and the page does not change. If I try after midnight I do get their System Update 12-3 am notice! This all looks intentional to me!
car loan
back in 2010 I bought a new car. My dealership talked me into financing through them, I received an additional incentive. I had a great job my credit rating was over 700 . Now I lost my job of over 25 years. After having hardship of not finding a job getting behind in payments I asked ally to refinance my car . At this time they had me at 1.9 great deal . I said i don't car what the interest rate was I just need a lower payment. considering I have less then 2 yrs to pay it off all i have value in the car. after many phone calls and talking to the collectors I filled out an application . I told them I was desperate I was falling behind and needed to refinance they denied me and sent me a letter to reposes it. This makes no sence to me I get 5-8 calls a day wanting money. They will not help me in any way.

forget privacy
Ally told me it would close my account if I did not provide a physical street address. I value my privacy, and I have a post office box which receives all my mail. This is a common practice in the United States and has been so for a very long time. Anyway, I told Ally to go ahead and close the account. There was no attempt to transfer me to an account recovery specialist, no understanding of privacy; it was goodbye to the customer, full stop. This is a despicable bank. That must be the reason why so much official effort is being made online and elsewhere to portray Ally as "number one, " as if this bank is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It isn't. To Ally, the customer is an adversary.

erroneous excessive wear charges
Trying to turn in a lease at Ally has been nothing but a time consuming and horrible experience. The numerous untruths that I have been told are exhausting. Nothing anyone has said to me has been truthful or accurate. Every one that I have talked to has given me a different story. Filed a complaint with the BBB and have not accepted Ally discounted offer of unfounded excessive wear. Looking at the inside of the trunk lid is one area they are claiming. The other is non existent. The photos showing damage are in the shade and are unable to tell that anything is even there. The last response from Ally with out responding to BBB is a bill that is due by October 17, 2014 and if not received by then I will be responsible for full damaged claimed and will Ally will take legal action against me. So to protect my perfect credit and sanity, I guess that I have no choice but to pay the ransom for the extortion of damage for no one will listen to common sense or take care of a customer who by the way has documentation of body repair that was performed while car was under warranty. Ally could care less.
payoff
I purchased a vehicle as a lease option to buy. My plan was to lease for 3 years and purchase at then end of the term. I was explained by the dealers and finance reps at GMC that it's basically the same as a purchasing a vehicle with additional options. Such as you can turn the car in at the end of the lease, trade it in for a newer vehicle or purchase. I asked how that works insurance wise and they said it works the same as a purchase, if there is equity you will get it back if upside down there is gap insurance. So here I am today with 1 year left in my lease and a car ran a red light and totals out my vehicle. Now come to find out my car has equity in the sums of $9, 000.00 and I am now being advised by Ally that they are keeping all of the equity as I have no rights to this vehicle as I am just "renting" the vehicle and all the payments I have made are a "rent" charge. They are taking the full settlement from my insurance company and not refunding any of it to me. All of this is the opposite of what I have been advised. I put a large amount of money down at the time of signing under the impression I was "purchasing" the vehicle. Had I have understood this was only renting, who in their right mind would put money down. How can the fact that my car was totaled be any different to them than saying I will pay the car off in full now? This is a huge profit off of my misfortune. Do the right thing Ally.

car payment
i talked to numerous people about the fact that I sent a 200 payment for my car and they in turned added 60 to the late fees. after talking to several of their reps even a manager I was told the problem would be taken care of. well they called and said it was rejected. they just put my monies and applied it where they wanted instead of where I had it set up to go.

The point is the Ally representatives said the late payment would be taken care of. Ally Bank continues with deceptive practices.
car loan
Nuvell may be abusing the Truth-in-Lending Regulation Z Retail Installment Sales Contract that anyone who financed a car through them has. I purchased my car back in 2006 and according to my contract my loan should have been paid off in December of 2012. Nuvell DOES NOT work with you, are completely RUDE, and are CROOKS! I presently have an attorney helping me, and I fully intend to blow Nuvell, Ally (or whatever name they're using...they've changed so often) out of the water, and show that they are indeed taking advantage of people who are having difficulty paying their loan. This company finances people with poor credit because not only can they make money on the interests charged, but also on the late fees which they may be doing illegally. They don't care if they have to repossess your car because they'll make more money when they resell it. I will continue to update what's happening with my case against them because I don't want these crooks taking advantage of anyone else. Meantime, much luck to everyone who has a problem with Nuvell/Ally, and feels they're being taken advantage of.

constant calls on totaled vehicle that was paid in full
In October of 2012, I purchased a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT through Ally Financial. The contract was for 60 payments of $351.79 and my first payment was due on December 7th 2012. I made my first payment on December 5th 2012 with no issues. I made January's payment of $351.79 on December 28th. On January 23 2013 I was involved in a collision with a tree which totaled the van beyond repair. When the van was totaled, I owed $16765 which $13500 was paid that week by Nationwide Insurance. This left a balance of $3265 which was paid the next week by Zurich GAP insurance. I was told by Ally the van was paid in full and the account was satisfied. I heard nothing out of them until June 2013 when I got a collection for $650 stating that I was past due on the van when it was totaled. I have the statements showing all payments were made but they refuse to acknowledge them. I was forced to file bankruptcy when I lost my job and I included Ally in my bankruptcy. They were given a court order to cease calling me, yet they still call AT LEAST 10 times a day threatening repossession. Ally you can have your POS minivan, good luck finding it I have no idea what Nationwide did with it. If you do find it, please let me know as I left my CD in the CD Player.
You are wrong, I included them because they put negative info into my credit report stating that I was behind on payments. I did what I supposed to do and never made a late payment. Ally got there precious money and they are not getting another cent out of me.

File a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau! (cfpb.gov) They are taking advantage of thousands of people. CFPB started investigating Ally earlier this yr for inflating sub prime auto loans and other things.
fraudulent practices / poor customer services
I started my acquaintance with Ally Bank less than 60 days ago. It has to be by far the most colossal mistake I have ever made. I thought it would be nice to get back ATM fees and get interest on my monthly direct deposit disability check, but the old saying, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is", came shining through.
After paying a fee to "Expedite" the sending of my ATM card, a few days later I found out that it was never sent. So as my only monthly income sat in an account with no way for me to access, I explained to one of Ally's more accomplished liars that they would be answering charges of fraud as well as other charges if I could not pay for my needed medical prescriptions the following morning. How quickly things changed after our little talk. At 10:00am the next morning FedEx was at my door with an overnite delivery of one ATM card. I must have shook them up pretty bad because 3 days later I got another ATM card along with my checks.
It seems it was all for nothing though. Since then it has been a barrage of letters ranging from apologies for the card incident from a woman calling herself Cindy Clear who has since refused to answer any of my request to speak to her, to different kinds of letters threatening to do things from freezing my account, cutting off use of that illusive ATM card, and closing my account for infractions such as they paid out an overdraft and thought I should pay them back immediately. I did not force them or ask them to pay out overdrafts and they have much nerve speaking in terms like, Immediately.
I am now in the process of looking for a new bank that I can trust with officers that do not hide and use anonymous cell phones to be sure they cannot be found by those dirty little consumers that keep money in their bank.
"IF YOU ARE THINKING OF KEEPING YOUR MONEY WITH ALLY BANK, THINK AGAIN"
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Update from my last complaint...I contacted Ally again and demanded to speak to a manager. After 10 minutes on hold, the customer rep came on the line, told me...wait for it...that as of TODAY, they stopped verifying wire information and my money had been wired to USAA. They must think I'm pretty stupid.
I totally agree with the writer. I have funds that I cannot access today because they are in Ally. I have talked to five people now and basically, they can't do a same day wire transfer without calling me first to verify my information, and that can take 2 business days. Since it's Friday, I'm stuck. I had no idea when I opened this account that they have no local branches, I can't talk to anyone in the wire department...this is why I have banked with USAA for 30 years. My mistake my paycheck went to Ally today. I am closing my account over this. Ally needs to get with it -- no bank should be this incompetent with technology the way it is.
edeposit system failure
I have appreciated everything about my Ally accounts except for their eDeposit system. Sometimes I can make a deposit in less than a minute, but often, it can take an hour to make a deposit because of glitches in their online deposit system, having to call to report a problem, and waiting to speak to someone. Never are they able to explain why the problem is occurring or how to correct it, but indicate someone from tech support will need to call back. Tech support never calls back. Today, I made a deposit of one check with no problems and attempted to make a second deposit. It went through seamlessly until the final step where the deposit is confirmed and gave me a message "Oops, the deposit could not be made for the following reason." There was nothing stated as to the reason. It instructed me to start over. When I did and got to the confirmation, I got a message it could not be deposited because I had already made the deposit. I called to see whether the deposit actually went through. The Ally rep stated this cannot be confirmed for 2 working days. Because today is Saturday, and Monday is a holiday, that means I won't get confirmation for 5 days, during which I will not know whether the deposit went through or not. When I complained about the ongoing problems with the eDeposit system, I was told that eDeposit is a new service for Ally and that they are aware of many problems with the system but they are working out the details. As I've been making deposits for a year, I don't consider this a new service, and find it terrifying that in a year, they cannot get the system operational and that they began the system when it was not operational.
I went to the Ally site a few weeks ago and completed the information to open a CD. The next step, which I chose not to complete, was to confirm two small deposits in my existing checking account. To my surprise, Ally took the money and are now refusing to put the money back.
illegal banking practices
I opened a checking account with Ally via the internet. Supplementing the application, I mailed the signed signature card and a money order to be used as the initial balance for my account. After waiting 4 weeks, I finally call to inquire when I will receive my debit card, checks, etc, only to be told that there is a "block" on my account. The person who put the bock on my account - Cathy Kaufman - is the only person who can answer ANY questions I have and also remove the block. I was given a number to reach Cathy, which I called several times and even left voice messages for. She never returned my calls because she vacations 80% of the time. I finally didn't reach her until 2 months later! When we spoke, she informed me that the block was put on my account b/c my address couldn't be verified against public records. Given her nasty attitude throughout I told her to just forget the whole thing to close my account and send me my money back. She said she will NOT close my account and will NOT refund my money until I send her a copy of my driver's license that shows the same address that was used to open the account with. WHAAAAAAAAAAAT? THAT IS ILLEGAL.
According to CIP laws, when a person opens an account, the bank is to only take money from customers AFTER they have been fully verified. Since my account was never fully verified due to this address issue, Ally should've never cashed the money order I sent them and they certainly shouldn't be refusing to return it.
STAY AWAY FROM ALLY. THEIR POSITIVE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ARE A JOKE.
had similer experience with ally, AVOID THEM LIKE THEY ARE MONEY TERRORISTS
refund
I traded in my 2010 truck and the dealership I did business with paid them off on 02/22/13. The same day, they had already scheduled to take my monthly payment directly out of my account. I called and was told that it would take 10 days to get a refund. The payment came out of my account on 02/25/13 as a direct pay. I contacted Ally to get the status and got the run around and was told that it would take 10 days for a refund. I received a check in the mail for $7.76 dated 02/25/13. I called on 03/01/13 to see what the check was for and check on the status of my full refund. After alot of persistence I was finally told that a check in the amount of $469.99 was mailed "that day" and that I would receive it in 4-5 days. I called back on 03/06/13 to check on the status and then I was told that they did not post my payment until 03/01/13 which is a lie because it is direct pay and they did get my money on 02/25/13 and when I asked what the $7.76 check was for I was told that it was for overpayment from the payoff and that now I would have to wait 10 BUSINESS days from 03/01/13 before they would even issue a check. They have had my money since 02/25/13 and now I have to wait even longer. The customer service is not good at all and the representatives are not knowledable. I asked for the payoff on our other truck that we have financed with them so we can move our loan and the guy could not find it. He asked me if I was sure it was financed with them. Finally after I insisted that he get me the information, he found it and gave me the payoff. I spoke with his supervisor and she gave me more excuses so I asked to speak with someone else above her. She said it would take 48 hours for them to call me back. I pointed out to her that it was convenient that she say 48 hours because that would then be closer to the 10 days! I will be waiting for my refund and I doubt I will get a call back either.
I have purchased an UNLOCKED GSM SMARTPHONE off of Amazon.com after being told through straight talk that any unlocked gsm would work. im waiting for the phone now to come but have tried to call several times to straight talk to ask about the SIM card i will need. IM VERY CONFUSED if this phone will even work. my area does not support AT & T or T-Moblie. I sent them all the info on the phone and still do not get a yes or no answer if my phone will work for me. i could not buy a straight talk phone cause they do not have one big enough, i dont see well. the one i just bought has a 6" screen. does anyone know anything about the SIM cards? thanks!
bad practices
I received a letter telling me that my account was to be closed. i asked why, and was told I had too many "REG E" claims.
here's what happened: Fall of 2011 and Spring of 2012 someone hacked into my account or somehow illegally got my card number and purchased gas at far away locations three times during each--a total of 6 transactions.
Each time I called Ally and was told to file a REG E claim to get my money back, and so I did exactly what they told me to do. The money was put back into my account, and the investigation showed each time that the fault was not mine. I was issued a new card each time as well, which is never out of my possession, nor are my checks.
Now I am told that because I filed the claims as instructed they find me to be a risky customer and do not want my business any longer.
I asked what I should have done, short of letting the thief abscond with my money and no one could answer me. It was either, let the thief have the money or lose your account. Nice way to run a bank.

auto financing
First of all I have had my car initially financed from GMAC and they switched to ALLY. Until recently within the last 2 years I was rarely late on a payment and then I lost job after job and ran out of deferment on payments. Needless to say I began to fall late. I never went more than 3 months past due and last night when I became 3.5 months past due they came and repossessed my car. I NEVER received any kind of notification. In fact the last letter I received from them in the mail was from back in August 2012! I also just made a payment on 12/4/12 of $344.18 (which included my car payment and late fees). I started calling ALLY this morning at 7am when they started taking calls and was on hold for 47.05 minutes and talked to a representative Erma and she was beyond RUDE! She had no empathy at all for my situation and I could barely understand anything she said with her heavy Indian accent. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she replied "he is going to tell you the same thing!" I said that I still would like to speak to her supervisor. So she transferred me to Vince the "assistant supervisor" and he wasn’t any help either, also with a heavy Indian accent! He wouldn’t let me talk and kept interrupting me. He said that the tow place hasn’t released the information yet and that he couldn’t do anything until then. I then asked if he could call the tow place and he rudely declined because they hadn’t received anything from them that stated that they had my car. So I insisted again and he said "I’m going to release the call now, I cannot help you" I pleaded with him to help me cause I FINALLY got a new job and it starts today. He said again “I am releasing the call" CLICK! I was soooo mad! I called the tow place and the lady Courtney was super nice and couldn’t understand why ALLY didn’t have the information yet. So after I got off the phone with her I proceeded to call ALLY back and was on hold for 1 hour 12 minutes and 37 seconds and talked to Donna. She was actually kind of nice! She got all my information and then called the tow company to confirm the information WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING! I got the payment made via money gram (that customer care rep was super nice). I then called ALLY back and was on hold for 1 hour 8 minutes and 1 second and a representative John answered and took my reference number of the payment and called the tow place to advise them that I was paid in full and could pick up my car. I called the tow place again and they advised me that they do not release repossessed cars on Fridays and Mondays (probably because they want to charge for storage fees over the weekend) I calmly asked him what is preventing him from giving me a car that is legally mine? He said that he was in the Topeka office and would make an exception and drive to Olathe to release my car for me. How thoughtful of him! WHATEVER! It is now 3:27pm and I am finally home with my car that is PAID IN FULL! I can also supply phone records of NO attempt to contact me.
Just in case anyone was wondering what I had left to pay:
Past due: 1053.72
Late fee: 26.46
Repo fee: 350.00
Total: $1430.18

not impressed
Everytime I call customer service I get someone with a foreign accent so it is very difficult to understand them, and I don't think they fully understand me either as I always have to repeat myself. Their online account access is a joke. I had trouble the first couple of months setting up my account. Finally was able to speak with someone I understood and got it set up. So during that time I had to mail a check for payment, or use the phone payment which costed $15 each time. They were supposed to reimburse me for the phone payment fee since I couldn't get online to pay, but that never happened. Now that I finally have the ability to go online and pay with my bank account (with no fee), their site is messed up and the login page is "temporarily unavailable". Been like that for over a month, so I am back to mailing my payments and waiting for my statements in the mail. Each time I call in to find out what's going on they say it should be fixed soon. Not having online account access upsets me because I like to pay weekly instead of one payment per month, and I don't like having to send a check every week or pay by phone and have the extra fee. Next time I get an auto loan I will not be using Ally.
