I have an ongoing complaint with this Company and I am about at my wits end in trying to resolve it, my next step... Lawyer. Ok, I went in the store in Cincinnati Ohio and bought a Bedroom Set, this is in March of 2006, they told me they needed to order it and it would take up to 4 weeks, no problem, well 4 weeks later I called and they told me they are having problems with the manufacturer and they can't get that specific set anymore, well to find out, it wasn't the manufacturer at all, it was American Freight not paying their bills to them, (I was told by a Saleman), so I drove 40 minutes and was told to pick out another Set, my husband was livid might I add, and they were bending over backwards to try to calm him, we got not one phone call from them telling us the problem, I had to call, he wanted our money back and they said they couldn't do it because it was past 30 days... (if I would have known that I would have called sooner) I picked out another Set much more expensive and the Manager said for all the trouble I will eat the difference, (we had payed for the other set in full.) We said ok, it was a little bit better quality.

Problem solved, we got a deal... hardly... again, had to have it ordered but this time from a different manufacturer, and this Set was a popular item, he said they get Deliveries every week and he would take someone's else's order so we could get ours faster...? (Thought that was strange) he said the other order was one that was going into Lay-away and he would just order another for the other order, that made me feel better.

Well, 2 weeks later, no calls, I called again, what is the problem? "Oh, we have it here, I will have a Delivery person call to set you up with a Delivery Date." Ok, now I am getting somewhere... hardly... After several phone calls again, 2 weeks later a subcontracted Delivery company called me to get directions and it was coming in 2 days! Yes! finally the end of this nightmare, beginning of May 2006 I finally get my furniture, but wait, "Where is all my hardware?" The Delivery Company forgot it. I had to drive 40 minutes back to the store and pick it up myself.

Well, as if I didn't learn my lesson the first time, I went back, ordered another Nightstand and the Chest that was not included in my Set, I was moving to Florida from Kentucky, thought I better get it before I leave. Went into store, talked with the SAME Manager, told him I was leaving in 2 weeks and I would pick them up the day I leave on a Sunday while I have a moving truck. He said he has them in the store already and would put them on Hold, payed in full, no problems. This is February of 2007, (they now opened a store in Kentucky close to my house), called 3 days before we were to leave, it was there ready to be picked up. All ready to leave, packed up the truck and headed to American Freight to pick up my 2 items... they weren't there, said they needed to order... talk about making a scene... I yelled to the customers in the store..."Please go somewhere else and purchase furniture... you are making a BIG mistake!" Manager wasn't happy... well, CUSTOMER wasn't either! I threw a fit and told them I wanted my money back NOW! He said let's figure this out calmly, we will have to issue you a check from Corporate and that will take weeks, "Are you moving close to Tampa?" I am about 60 miles South I told him, he said "No problem" I will call the Tampa store, transfer them your money and tell the Manger there, order it, and have someone Delivery it and we will pay for it. After calming down I said "Fine".

Mindless to say, problems with the Tampa store also, it is now November of 2007... "I still don't have a Refund, or my Furniture." I am tired of all of this, called the Tampa store today and told them I was contacting a Lawyer and hung up. All of this for 1 Nightstand and 1 Dresser, told cost $400.oo. I hope they realize I am making them PAY for my Lawyer and interest on my money sitting in there bank account from January 2007 until November 2007, if not longer.

Please STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN FREIGHT, please...

OK, this is the end of my nightmare, Thanks all who posted and I am proud to say that after 13 months I finally got my my back on my Dresser I bought, because of course by the time all of this madness was going on they discontinued making my furniture set so they couldn't get it anymore, and just yesterday almost 14 months they found a nightstand from across the country and had it shipped to my house, (not to mention the 100 phone calls and threats to them, unreturned phone calls, and just plain disgust) now I have found my dresser at Badcocks furniture in Florida went and ordered it, payed for it in full and had it the next day! Whew...I was worried, I love Badcocks, no problems, no hassle and I FINALLY HAVE MY COMPLETE BEDROOM SET, no thanks to American Freight. I HATE THAT COMPANY, WILL NEVER BUY THERE AGAIN AND I DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM PURCHASING ANYTHING THERE UNLESS YOU TAKE IT OUT THE DOOR THE SAME DAY, NO IF'S, AND'S OR BUT'S! Sorry to hear the other horror stories, mine was 13 months long and finally over.

Wow, this sounds so much like my exact situation though, I haven't been waiting for over a year ...yet... but I can see that's where it's going to go. I've talked to numerous managers and the KY district manager and get the same response "No money back and no furniture!" I think I'm going to contact a lawyer as well. And I'm out $1600.

I CAME INTO AMERICCAN FREIGHT ON JAN,20,2008 AND PURCHASED A SECTIONAL FROM A GENTLEMAN FOR 1,065.37. HE TOLD ME MY FURNITURE WOULD BE THERE THE NEXT DAY. MY SON TOLD ME THEY CALLED, SO I RETURNED IT, ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY HAD SOLD THE LAST ONE AND THEY WANTED ME TO CHANGE MY ORDER. I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT DO THAT BECAUSE I DID IT BEFORE AND I WASNT GONNA SETTLE FOR SOMETHING I WASNT HAPPY WITH. THEY SAID OK IT WILL ONLY 3 DAYS FOR THE FURNITURE TO COME IN AND THEN ID GET IT DELIVERED. NO CALL FROM THEM 4 DAYS LATER SO I CALL BACK IM GETTING THE RUN AROUND. THEY TELL ME THEY CAN GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK BY MAIL IN A CHECK FORM. I SAY TO THEM WELL I DIDNT MAIL IT INTO THE STORE WHEN YOU RECIEVED IT. SO I TRY TO CALM DOWN AND WORK WITH THEM. I GO INTO THE STORE AND PICK OUT SOMETHING ELSE JUST AS NICE AND NOT SOMETHING I WOULDNT BE HAPPY WITH JUST TRYING TO WORK WITH THEM. I DONT NEED THE FURNITURE I JUST WANT THE FURNITURE. Thanks to all the comments I will never go to American Freight. I was going to buy 2 twin beds for my daughters but I am scared out of my wits to even think about driving down to American Freight. I know none of us has money to throw away and I thank you all for helping me hang onto my money. I am sorry for all the trouble everyone has had but I am thankful I found out before I ended up in the same situation. Good luck to everyone!

Bought a kitchen table in November of 2007, in 3 months the top of the table started to bowe. Went and asked what they could do, their response was nothing they could do. Was asked to leave when I started causing a scene. Any contacts for their corporate office?

I don't understand where all of these complaints are coming from. I went to American Freight paid for my furniture and got it within 2 hours of my purchase. Great quality, and exceptional price. I shopped around before I bought it, and nobody came close to the price and quality of American Freight. I have to say they were very busy, and I could imagine that would lead to some problems. I don't think I've ever seen a store that busy without any problems or complaints. You have to go there and see the deals for yourself. These websites are great, but where are the sites with unbiased reviews?

I am learning that the drama with American Freight is not worth it. I'd rather pay a higher price somewhere else than to deal with them ever again. I purchased my livingroom and dinette set to have it deleivered the following weekend(saturday). I live in a condo in South Florida and express the urgency that the furniture be delivered by noon the following Saturday b/c the "association" has rules and specific days/times for deliveries. The sales guy noted that on the delivery receipt. A day before the delivery I got a call saying the dinette wasn't going to be here until Monday. I told him I couldn't have it delivered until Wednesday. So yesterday the delivery guy showed up, dropped off the set and left. We unpacked it and realized they sent us the wrong furniture. I ordered a six seater, they sent me a 3 seater. I caled the store an demanded to speak with a manager. After getting the run around for 2 hours I finally spoke to him and he assured me it was in stock and to call him at 10am the following day (today) and it would be delivered this morning. We called this morning and low and behold both the manager and sales rep who knows the siuation are not there. The manager that is there today claims there are no drivers to deliver the furniture. Of course at this point I am irate! He claims to be contacting the driver now and the furniture will be at my home by noon. I will never deal with this company again. They have quality furniture, yes but their business practices are appaling. They treat their customers like crap. Tey are scammers and I am highly upset and have a good mind to tell them to come get their furniture and refund my money.
Does anyone out there know if there is a corporate office we can contact?

I paid a $200 deposit on a sectional. It never arrived. I asked for my money back and was told that they did not refund "lay-aways".

SCAM SCAM SCAM!

Stay away from American Frieght!

I bought some furniture from AF and never got them. Neither are they willing to refund me the money.I am not an American citizen so i really don't know as to what should be done .lawyer?

Please suggest me as to what is to be done?

I love Ameircan Freight. A store where people can get more than exceptional furniture for a great price on layaway with a same day deliver if available. Sorry for those who chose to purchase things that were not in stock or put a layaway on furniture that is liquidated.

I can't stand American Frieght and I have never even shopped there and never will. Any company that has to scream into my TV with their obnoxious commercials tells me it's not a place for me. I thought the commercial was just for our local station but I was recently on a trip and the city I was in had the same horrible obnoxious commercial only with the local address for that store.
Maybe the customers should go into their stores and just talk real loud and be obnoxious because they must think that is who their customers are.
I really feel sorry for all the people who have been taken by them and obviously their poor customer service. Guess the lesson here is beware of people who have to scream at you to get your attention.

I had a horrible experience with American Freight I went there and purchased a sectional. My first visit no one greeted me at all that right there should have waved a red flag but, i spotted this sectional that i really wanted that i couldnt find anywhere else. I just sold my orginial furniture so i put the sectional in layaway the next day i paid it off in cash. The sales assoicate tells me they didnt have it in stock but the day before he told me it shouldnt be a problem with having this in stock no problem i thought. then the manager tells me another one of there stores about 25 minutes away had it so they were going to pick it up from them and have it delievered to me that upcoming Monday. When Monday comes around i receieved a phone call telling me that store didnt get the furniture in so by Wednesday they should have it to me. With all this nonsense going on the guy who was calling me also told me that they were going to give me free delievery because of the poor service i was recieving so that made me feel a little bit better. Wednesday come he calls and tells me this long stupid story about how the store still didnt recieve the furniture so they probably wont have it until the following Wednesday okay now a week and three days go by and still no furniture. I didnt get a call on Wednesday like i was promised so i called them to see what the situation was and the run around again i was highly upset now that i been furniture less for almost two weeks. Thursday comes and i still didnt get any furniture of a phone call so i was to the point were i was just going to request my money back and go some where else were i would recieve better service. I then get a phone call telling me that they had my furniture in and that it could be delievered the next day. i was called to see was i at home to get the delievery and was told that i needed to have 6o dollars at the door for the delievery charge. I got upset because i was promised the free delievery come to find out their delivery team isnt part of the store separate contractors. so American frieght didnt have any say so on that situation. when the delievery guys arrived they couldnt even put my furniture together because they needed a drill to drill my legs on my sofa. They had to leave and come back once they came back they still didnt have the right drill and couldnt do the job intended. They couldnt finish the job until the next day. This store is very poor in customer service, Please dont do business with them they suck! STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN FREIGHT! The prices arent worth all the ### they put you through

I purchased a mattress and couch and love seat from american freight in Lima, Ohio and I must say that was the best buying experience I ever had. All my relatives bought stuff there and never had a single problem. They were exceptionally nice and all the stuff I got was great quality and name brand items that I received that were cheaper than any other store. Everything is really great at american freight. You must go there. I will always shop there and all my friends and relatives will too.

I bought a table and chairs, and a sectional from there. Everything was exactly as they said. I loved my stuff and will be going back for some more things. I don't know how there are any complaints but I guess you can get complaints from anywhere you shop. My local walmart has received complaints. I definitely will be shopping at lexington Ohio store again. Thank You American Freight, from Bob

I had a really good experience from there and tell everybody to shop there. They delivered my items to me ahead of schedule and even helped me move some stuff to put my items where I wanted them. I got a sectional 1000 cheaper than abrams which had exact same item. Dave the store manager even called me to thank me for purchase. Don't go anywhere else for furniture. God Bless yOU

i wish i would"ve came to this website before i purchased any furniture. my story is exactly similar to all of the above. here it has been almost 4 months since i heard from them and i also contacted a lawyer and they sent a letter to them, which they never responded. so they advised me to contact the BBB and the Attorney general's Of Ohio. so after that if i do not hear any response i am going to take them to small claims court where by the consumers sales act they will be held accountable to pay 3x the amount of damages and court cost. i advise u all to do that.

I Ordered furniture on a certain date and they did not have it when I went to pick it up today and didn't know when it would be in and wanted me to take something else. When I requested my money back they refused and even talked down to me and tried to belittle me. They wanted to give me an in store credit. Determined to get my money back and will never even buy a cushion from this company. I will tell 1000+ people not to patronize this company.

Presently, reporting incident to BBB, local TV stations, newspapers, and plan to even picket out front.

I filled up my entire house with furniture from american freight and saved a couple thousand dollars in doing so. I had no major problems with anything and will continue to shop there for years to come! The furniture looks great!

American Freight
I put furniture on layaway. I was paying on it and they discontiued it. Now they are trying to force me to get something else. I wanted what I put on layaway. This company is going to have lots of problem. They take your money and dont even have the furniture. The buy one fro disaply and hope the company will have it when you finish paying for it.
Take them to court and don't let them keep your money.

Well, first off...anyone who would even go there after taking one look at their very annoying commercials must not have their head screwed on right. Me, being the curious type, once went there a few years ago before I saw one of their commercials to see what they were all about. After being in the store about 10 minutes I overheard two arguments regarding customer/employee interaction and it felt like I was in a zoo. I quickly left. This company (if that's what you call it) must be ran by a bunch of idiot scam artists. No thanks! People, there are MUCH better places to get "a good deal". Use your head.

Ok, here goes. I went to the Evansville, IN store in November 2008 to purchase a kitchen table. Saw the one I wanted and got it, while I was there, I found a sofa and ottoman that I wanted. So, I put them on layaway, this was $998 plus tax for the sofa and $198 for the ottoman. In two weeks I had both of them paid in full, I went to pick up them up (keep in mind, I live 60 miles away), they had the sofa, not the one I ordered but very similar. Well, then they said, they didn't have the ottoman, that the one they received was red. The one I ordered was black. They said they would have it in the next week, they would call me. Well, the next week came and I had not received a call, they continue to tell me that it will be another month before they receive it. January 2009 comes and they still do not have it in, I tell them I don't want it now, I wanted my money back. They said, too bad, once you pay for it you have 10 days to get your monry back. I stated that I was never advised that, they said, well its on you receipt. I told the guy that is was not on there, he fought with me about it for 20 minutes stating that he knew it was on there. So I faxed him my receipt, he said, well it should have been on there, but you still aren't getting your money back that I would have to take an in sotre credit. We argued for another 45 minutes, he was very rude. I told him that i would never be back to that store, to transfer the credit to the Bowling Green, KY store. Thought things would be better there, NOT! Went there, found a bedroom suit I wanted, the manager there told me they didn't have any in stock, but there had already been a truck ordered and there were 9 of these bedroom suits on it. He PROMISED me over and over that it would be there in 7-10 days. 10 days later, no call, I called him, he stated that there had been no confirmation of when it was going to be sent out, he would call me the next Wedmesday. Wednesday came, no call, so I called. Stated that it still is not in, should be next week. Then the same night I get a call at 10pm, it is the manager a American Freight telling me that he has one coming the next day and he will call me to come pick it up unless I wanted to pay to have it delivered. I advised him that I would come pick it up, I was not giving them any more of my money. He stated that since my item was not paid in full, that if someone came in and wanted it and was going to pay in full, I would have to wait for another one. Well, it didn't really matter, because the next day, it didn't come anyway. Now it is Feb. 2009 and still nothing. I called them back today and they said that it still was not in and they didn't know when it would be in. My next call will be to a lawyer and they will give me ALL my money back, compensate for all the time and travel I have wasted and pay for my lawyer and the court costs.

NEVER EVER EVER got to American Freight.

My husband and i purchased a bedroom suite from there and received in the time they said we would receive and the manager took 200 less what it cost because all we had was 800 we went to the one on turfway in kentucky i've had it for about a year now and i really don;'t have any complaints except the bottom drawer of my dresser my son uses is cracking but i think that's because he was playing with it. i was told by many people that american freight furniture was made from card board.. but the business that was there before american freight in st pete i had no problems i will be checkin it out to see the deals and the quality of the furniture and be back to report wat i saw...

I am completely disgusted with American Freight! My husband and I went to the warehouse in Bowling Green, KY on January 25, 2009. When we walked in the guy that greeted us was super nice and there was furniture everywhere. We were looking at recliners, but questioned the guy about hide a bed couches also. He said they dont carry them, but we could pick out a couch we wanted and they could have it made into a hide a bed for us. He said we're supposed to tell you it only takes a month, but actually its 2 to 3 months or longer -- that should have been a major red flag! So we find a chair we like, and big surprise - its not in stock and would have to be ordered. We paid them $400 and were told the chair would be on Feb. 3 and we would get a phone call when it was in. I finally called about 6 pm on the Tuesday the 3rd and was told it didnt come in on the truck that day, but they had 4 trucks coming in the next day, 2 the day after that, and 2 more the next day and it should be on one of those. So on Friday, the 6th, I still had heard nothing so I called back again. I was told it didnt come in on any of those trucks and that the manger would call me back and discuss it with me. No phone call all weekend! So I called on Tuesday, the 10th, a week after my chair should have been here. The manager was incredibly rude and cocky and told me they didnt know when or if my chair would ever come in! At this point I was furious! I told him I wanted my money back and he said they dont do refunds. That on the reciept it says All Sales Are Final -- okay, technically they havent sold me a darn thing! They have taken my money, but I have nothing to show for it! He told me to come in and pick out another chair and he would try and give me a discount - key word being TRY! My husband and I are going back tonight to see what we can get worked out and Im not looking forward to it. The manager is rude and cocky and I dont want to deal with him! DO NOT GO TO THE BOWLING GREEN, KY AMERICAN FREIGHT UNLESS YOU WANTED TO DEAL WITH A JERK THAT CANNOT DELIVER ON HIS WORD!

I wish I would have read your posts before buying furniture from American Freight! Although my experience was not as bad as yours, I will never make the mistake of going back there. You do not need a lawyer to get your money back. Since it is under $5000, you should be able to go to your ocal magistrate and file a complaint for $10-$25. The magistrate will send them a certified letter and issue a subpoena to the manager. If he does not appear in court you automatically win and if he does appear you shouldn't have any problems winning. The magistrate will give them a date that they have to provide you with either the furniture or your money. And if they do not comply, to jail they go. I hope you get your issue resolved. Only at American Freight is the customer never right! Beware buyers!

We also have bought furniture from this company. We bought a couch, love seat & recliner. Our furniture was deliver in the bad of a pick up truck in the rain so it was wet, then as soon as we pulled the handle on the recliner it broke, we had a warrenty on it but it took 2 months for them to replace our chair the 2 weeks later it broke again & we were told too bad. I know we'll never buy from them again. I agree bad business!

I purchased a nighstand and chest for $400. The 1st problem was that i waited all day for a delivery on sunday that never arrived. I didn't receive a call or my merchandise. The next day i called and spoke with my sales rep who told me that the delivery guys couldn't fit my merchandise on the truck and they forgot to tell him that so that he could call me and let me know. Well later that same day i called back and spoke with the manager who informed me that they never even had my furniture at their location and it had to be ordered from another store. So basically the employees are liars. Then once my merchandise arrived i had a big spat with the store manger b/c i was not aware of the cash delivery fee that needed to be paid at the time of delivery. I told the manger that my sales rep told me it would be included. The manger called me a liar. I told him I didn't have the cash on me so we could arrange for me to pay it the next day or the delivery men could take the furniture back and refund my money. He then told me that all he could do was give me a store credit. Now the sensible thing to do if you ask me would have been for him to offer to cover the deliver charge to keep the sale. But no this idiot proceeds to argue with me, he hung up on me twice and now i'm stuck trying to figure out what i'm going to do next.

The dumb manger didn't understand that I was not attacking him personally and that I was upset as a consumer and I was not satisfied. I don't know why this company allows people like this to run their business. The whole staff was unprofessional. The sales rep flirted with me and told me stories about the mother of his child. And kept referring to me as "sweetie". How unprofessional is that? The delivery guy came on to me as if I didn't feel uncomfortable enough having these men deliver my things at 9pm at night. The whole experience is ridiculous. Please don't wast your time with this company.

I bought furniture and am still waiting on it. I even got in to it with the sales rep and he threaten me and said I wasn't getting my money back so it didn't matter. So be aware of what and were your buying furnitur. This is a very small city in Michigan called ypsilanti so beawre don't buy their.

I just purchased a bedroomset from them over the weekend. I paid for it Friday on my lunch on May 1st, they told me it would be delivered the same day just like on there website and they would call me with a delivery time. They never called so i called them when i got off of work. They said it had never been set up. The girl that took my payment left for the day and did not set it up. So i got them to set it for 7:00 p.m. Sat. the nxt. day. Saturday came very exiteed because this bedroom set was a surprise for my son. I waited and 7:30p.m came around no delivery. Around 8:00 p.m they still hadn't arrived so i called the store. The Asst. Mng. said that they were in route. 10:00 p.m came around they still hadn't showed. I called no answer, the asst. mng. called me back to let me know that they had dropped my headboard and broke it. So they had to go back to the store and get another one. They finally arrived @ 10:30 p.m to find out they left the bed rails. So they left to go get them, they came back @ 12:00 a.m. My husband was livid and they still wanted the $60.00 delivery charge. If that wasn't enough the next morning we went to put the bedroom set together we found out that the night stand was damaged, the headboard that they brought was a king and the set is a queen, the hardware to connect the mirror was not there. The hardware for the headboard was not there either and the dresser was scratched and split. They said that they would order the headboard that they broke and deliver it free of charge and they would deliver the new nightstand and hardware on Sunday by 5:00 p.m. Do you think they showed? If you said no you are correct they didn't even call this time and they did not pick up the phone. Today is Monday my husband and i will be there @ that store on my lunch! I am a paralegal and they have messed with the wrong one!DO NOT PURCHASE THERE. I live in Ann Arbor, MI.

Purchased a Sofa and Love Seat, the experience was crappy. I would pay two (2) times more from another store to avoid the experience with this bunch of scam artists.

Paid for the Living room set and Coffee/ end table group together. When arrived to pick up they said they did not have in the warehouse and would be in on monday or tuesday. When we paid for the group told the salesman that they were a wedding gift for my daughter and that her husband was in the Air Force and is moving to California. They said they would hold the stuff for me till I picked it up so we could get it in their scheduled (by the Air Force ) move to CA. When we arrived to pick up items they said they did not have any of it in stock and could not refund our money and would have to pick something else from their in stock items. They had the items on the floor and would not let us take those items instead.
WILL NOT BUY FROM THERE AGAIN AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE STEP FOOT IN THE WAREHOUSE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF!

I TO HAD A TERRIBLE EXPIRIENCE WITH AMERICAN FRIEGHT OUR FURNITURE ORDER WAS HELD OFF FOR ALMOST A MONTH OR MORE AS WELL AS WE WERE ASSUALTED BY THE STORE EMPLOYEE SO I DEFINTELY SAY BEWARE IN MICHIGAN!

I made the mistake to purchase a mattress, bedroom furniture(from this compny) This was the worst nightmare. They also delivered the furniture without hardware, we had to go get it. The bed frame was rusted out and they would not replace it. The so called manager was a totally a**h***, and then got angry when I pitched a fit. Fortunatly I have not had to deal with them and have made a point to tell everyone I know that this company sucks extremely bad.

I purchased a sofa from them a few months back and I am extremely satisfied with the quality. The furniture was arranged in a very utilitarian manner around the concrete warehouse. I looked at all the major stores with fancy showrooms like Ashley and Rooms to Go for a sofa that was good quality for a reasonable price but could not find one that worked for my ideals and wallet.

I think it needs to be said that American Freight specializes in obtaining closeouts and discontinued furniture to liquidate at very discounted prices. I did not see anyone else comment here that American Freight's showrooms are usually just a non air-conditioned no-frills warehouse space with open bay doors. I would hope that a buyer would realize that the furniture they see is all that the "store" has to offer at the moment. I am sure that usually they can get more of an item that is located at another warehouse but as a reasonable person I realize when I see a good deal that it is gone when it is gone. After seeing the quality and prices I knew that I wanted to buy something they had on hand and either pick it up right away or have it delivered immediately to be safe.

Therefore it does not make sense to me to buy a large piece of furniture that is of limited quantity and expect it to be held and stored in their warehouse/showroom for months until the layaway is finally paid off. Layaway should not be treated as long term financing, use it if you find the perfect item at a sale price but you still need an extra check or two in order to pay the balance off while holding the sale price. In those circumstances it shouldn't take more than a month to pay it off in full and take delivery. Most of the problems the others described here would have been avoided or solved by first understanding that this is a great place for a deal as long as you are not expecting the service of Ethan Allen or Thomasville at rock bottom prices. BTW, due to the economy right now, I would not be surprised if some of those higher end lines are liquidated by American Freight in the coming months at amazing prices.

We will never deal with American Freight again! Had a terrible experience there. Purchased about $900 worth of furniture. When they delivered it, one of the pieces had not yet come in. They tried to get us to take a "similar style" replacement piece (which was actually very dissimilar). We told them no, that we would wait until the piece we ordered comes in and pick it up at the store ourselves. They then told us they were no longer carrying that item, so we said that we would just take a refund and purchase the item somewhere else that carried the style we wanted. They told us that's fine, wrote on the paperwork that we would be getting a refund (of around $100), and that we should get a check in 4-6 weeks.

After 6 weeks, the real disaster began. When we called the store to explain the situation, and that we still hadn't received the refund, they told us we should be getting it within the week. When it still didn't arrive, we called the store again, and were told that we had to deal with the district manager; our phone calls to the district manager weren't returned; I called the store (and other stores) to try to get a phone number for their headquarters, and they said they weren't allowed to give it out. I finally (after about two more weeks) went online, discovered all the complaints that others had with this company (and also found the phone number for their headquarters), and called the headquarters. After initially getting blown off, I told them that I would be contacting my attorney and/or the local news media (to possibly run a story on this sham company) if I didn't have the refund check by the end of the week. The lady then promised I would have it by Friday, but that I'd have to pick it up in the store. Went to the store on Friday and...no check yet. They made a phone call, and said that it would be in the next day. It finally did arrive, but 4 weeks late, and only after numerous frustrating phone calls, messages left, and a threat to file legal action and to contact the news media. BEWARE: DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM AMERICAN FREIGHT FURNITURE!

American Freight is the old nationwide warehouse...owned by the same ###.they scam their suppliers and customers and tax payers...then they claim bankruptcy and change their name...they rip off all the customers..dont pay their bills for their stock...bait and switch tactics in advertising..crummy furniture also.absolutely the worst, unethical furniture store you could ever shop at...or work for...please take my advice...DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY!You may not get your furniture and you surely will not get your money back...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!...
