American Roofing and Exteriors is having trouble paying their sub contractors. when this happens the subs typically put a lean on the home they worked on. don't be a victim. feel free to message me and I will gladly give details of sub contractors who have been ripped off by Matt Woods who is the owner of American Roofing and Exteriors. I am also in contact with several very unhappy home owners who have used American Roofing and Exteriors and will be happy to share the stories but I wont post names on here.
American Roofing and Exteriors a good company? not only do they rip off their sub contractors but even the hourly and commission based employees have most all been through the ringer with this hot shot. please simply read the reviews online. this is a very small forum here but I would bet that very soon these negative reviews will be visible on even the largest of complaint and scammer boards. once it is all verified and he still hasn't paid his debts everyone will know. use some common sense reading through these. if you do your research you will see that the very first negative comments started coming out and then, all the sudden in one day all within an hour or so there were several "great" reviews posted. more like a sales pitch. its humorous actually. when a company has to pretend to be the customer and write reviews on themselves... well, you be the judge. look around. remember, if American Roofing and Exteriors hires sub contractors (subs do most all the work.) and doesn't pay them, just trouble trouble for the home owner, and if AREI has already been paid good luck... be sure to question if they insure these subs are insured prior to working on your home. do they have liability ins? workers comp? a reputable company will NEVER hire a sub contractor and let them touch your home without verifying the proper coverage is available to each and every job. the insurance companies as well as workers comp will notify them if coverage lapses immediately and obviously a "good company" will not allow work on your home to proceed until coverage is intact.
Fraud, fraud, fraud
This company is charging us a $600 cancellation fee for a contract that we did not agree to. There are two places to sign on the contract/proposal one that states that we understand the terms, and another place to agree to the proposal (thus turning it into a contract). We signed to show that we understood the terms of the proposal, but we did not sign in the place that makes the proposal an actual contract. Before signing on the first line, I asked the sales representative if we were bound to the company if we signed. He said no that we were not bound until the last line was signed. When we decided to go with another company (that did the work for the same price, but used higher quality materials, such as 30 weight felt, pricier shingles, and colored flashing), the man became offensive on the phone and said that we were bound by the contract, and that we owe the company 10% of the cost of the roof. We received a bill for $600 from their central office in Missouri. I called to have the situation resolved, to no avail. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau.
What first made me suspicious of the company was that the sales representative did not give us an actual price for the roof. Instead, he just listed insurance proceeds plus deductible. All replacement wood would have been our responsibility as well. Additionally, we were to receive the insurance money in two checks. The first check was in excess of $4, 500, and the man wanted us to simply sign it over to the company, rather than follow the 50% in advance payment that is clearly stated on the contract. He reluctantly said that we could work something out when I expressed my concern.
The list of the 24 disclaimers on the back of the agreement also concerned me. Item 6 states that the company will not be held liable for any damage that they do to the building. Item 8 says that the company will not be held responsible if their equipment breaks up the driveway. Item 9 states that the company can use different materials than those agreed upon, as long as they meet with industry standards. Item 16 releases the company from liability if the roof becomes damaged due to defects (they may ask that you prove that it wasn't defective in the first place). Item 20 states that they will not guarantee that water will not pool on the roof.
Of COURSE we wouldn't agree to this! So when they come knocking... no matter how nice they SEEM, close the door, and save yourself some grief.

if you choose to let these clowns work on your home good luck. Mr. Woods does not pay his bills. specifically his subs he uses to do the work. most of them he has never even met. SCAMMER
It's unfortunate that my home insurance is partner with them them and dont realize what they are about.i stop the action before experiencing any hardship.the adjuster sent an estimate amount to the insurance, one in which the insurance send the money.come to find they was a non existent item being billed part of the estimate.they are unprofressoional i decided to get another company that's has better quality, longer guarantee and upgrade in shingles for the same price of the estimate.if my insurance decides to keep them it's time for me look into another insurance.anyone that gets recommendation from this company do your research before hiring them
This is Matt Woods with American Roofing and Exteriors. We have a cancellation fee on our contracts becasue our sales reps work hard getting clients insurance company to pay the needed amount to install the roof correctly, then clients cancel with us and have their cousin do the work for half the price and put money in thier pocket. That is called insurance fraud and we dont practice fraud.
We operate in an ethical manor and if we were to make a mistake, we admit it and correct it ASAP.
We are available to discuss this contract or any other contract with anyone.

We dont badmouth others anonymously on the internet.
This company did this same exact thing. After arguing with them about the cancellation fee they lowered the price by $1, 000. We agreed, biggest mistake of our lives. Nothing but problems now they are asking for $9000.00. I have argued and tried to contact supervisors. The supervisors won't call me back. The sales person does and we start from square one. I'm going to be forced to hire an attorney.
Compliment
I was very impressed by the work that American Roofing and Exteriors did on my home. The crew was very professional and arrived on time. They even stayed late to finish the work! They were knowledgeable and answered all of my questions (and I had a lot!). I would recommend this company to all of my family and friends.

All american Roofing came out and offered me back $4000 on my roof that was damaged by hail. I later find out that that was insurance fraud and got arrested and they were going to throw me in jail. I finally got out of court after spending $30, 000 in legal fees and lost work and lost my job as well. This company scams people and dont be fooled. If they say well pay your insurance deductible and give you money back. Thats insurance fraud. Thats a fact. look it up online. So you dont make the mistake i did.

The agreement itself is confusing and misleading with the two separate places to sign. Thus far in my adventures in telling everyone I know about this company, to include 2 police officers (1 sergeant, and 1 white collar crime specialist), 2 high school teachers (1 is a Ph.D.), a mortgage company manager, a title company manager, and 3 representatives from other roofing companies, not one person said that it is a valid contract. I will continue to spread the word. People need to be protected from companies like these!

Will I receive an actual bid for cost and materials used? The contract which I have not signed says deductible plus insurance proceeds. My adjuster told me today to please get 3 bids before choosing a contractor.
I think it is cute how fervently the owner denies those first comments are made by the same people... 6 by Robert but all signed as different people 4 made by MelanieQ acting like a different customer in each post... I would flag them as fraudulent but I think leaving them reinforces how dishonest this company is.
They will lie about what they do. They will blame you if you disagree with them. They will bully you if you point out any mistakes made. If you do get them to "correct" any mistakes it will only be a substandard patch job that is easily recognizable as trash covering more trash.
Yes, This thread is very representative of this company. No, I will not be leaving my information.
This post isn't made for you to do anything. It is only to warn others.
Beware of any company (especially roofing contractors) that have only good reviews. Bad reviews/complaints are easily removed from company website(s) sponsored by themselves and/or Better Business Bureau (BBB). Yes---many relatives & friends post template/cookie-cutter reviews. But take them for what they are worth (maybe it hasn't rained prior to MOM's posting).
Consumers take note on HOW the company responds to remedy the complaint. Was it addressed in an empathetic, ethical and positive manner? Did they go above and beyond---transitioning the homeowner into that 'guaranteed satisfied customer' (as clause states within the contract)? Those are the true company's 'good reviews': singing the praises of quality workmanship, as established per industry standards; and the professional conduct, as defined by the code of ethics and what their customer deserves.
Take the BBB for what it's worth; originally established to protect consumer rights--today, not so much. Business name, address, registered agent, verification of trade license, nor suspensions are cross-referenced by State and Local agencies. Thus, allowing unethical business owners to "tweak" their business name (adding/removing a single word such as: roofing, construction, renovation, Po'Dunk, Marietta, etc) to elude accountability for infractions against consumers, litigation, fines associated with suspension, etc. Bad reviews/complaints miraculously disappear, the good reviews/complaints miraculously follow---allowing owners to proclaim, 'no bad reviews within their 15 years of doing business.'
If the BBB had done their job---I would have seen that my "A+" roofer carried no trade license as mandated by State statutes and several of his 30 companies are under 'tax suspension.'
Consider filing a complaint with your state's Attorney General, Consumer Protection program.
My company has been working on a large vinyl siding project for several months in Oklahoma.
Now that the project is almost completed, , this company, AMERICAN ROOFING AND EXTERIORS, is coming out at night and placing their company advertising signs on our project.
HOW LOW CAN YOU STOOP?
I agree it's very suspicious that after the guy from American roofing come online that all those bogus review abruptly come to an end. We had them work on our house after the storms come through St. Louis, Mo in April of 2012 and they were both unprofessional and the quality of work is horrible. They hire subcontractors of the lowest skill level and really make a mess of things. Don't use them! I only wish I would have known then what I know know. You can tell how honest they are right here by how the manipulated these boards. Run from AR&E as fast as you can. Now we have to pay someone else to fix what they destroyed. They took our insurance money and us for a ride.
It is very suspicious that on 01/15/09 a Melanie posts the exact same glorifying words about American Exteriors as a Robert on 08/28/2008. I looked at this carefully after reading this post by M.leyva on 10/02/2008 : HOW FUNNY THAT ALL OF THE POSITIVE COMMENTS WERE PLACED ON THE SAME DAY! HMMM, MAKES YOU WONDER!
It appears that American Exteriors is having employees post the positive posts. Some of them are so enthusiastic they sound like sales pitches. Beware about trusting this website for honest appraisals of American Exteriors.
American Roofing replaced our roof almost two years ago and its been a nightmare ever since. The roofers they sent out set our house on fire when they were using a blow torch on our balcony. After everything was finally completed with the fire damage and the roof, everytime it rains we have leaks in the kitchen and the living room. They keep sending people out to patch up the problems only to have the leaks resurface everytime it rains. I feel that the whole thing needs to be redone because obviously the [censor]s they sent to do the job were incompetent. I would not recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy! Save yourselves all the headaches I've had and do your research to find a good company to do your roof.
I have no complaint! They did a great Job... Other companies did a bad job on my place before... American did a thorough job...

I want to sing the praises of a local roofing company, American Roofing and Exteriors. They completed my new roof earlier this year. They met with my insurance adjuster and myself, and made me feel very comfortable with the entire process. They kept me up-to-date with my project, and always returned my calls. Not only was the work that they provided exceptional, but I also loved the warranty that I received at no additional charge. They workers were very clean and professional, and my service was wonderful. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs roof work done.
I initially had another crew doing my roof. They were sloppy and (barely) completed very poor work. I so wish that I had gone with the second crew that American Roofing sent out first. That crew was great! They tried their best to fix all of the issues that the first crew did wrong. I will continue to go back to American Roofing and Exteriors for any work that I need done. They took an already bad situation, and completely turned it around. THANK YOU!
Wow, all I can say is wow! American Roofing and Exteriors made replacing my roof easy and worry-free. I was so upset when my house sustained hail damage. I thought that I would have to endure a months-long process that would be difficult and aggravating, but not with this company. It was done within the month with very little work on my part. They made it SO easy! Wow!
