I was told that Andersen made the top-of-the-line windows but to me it seems as if they are anything but, mediocre at best. After my brand new windows were installed, I noticed that the wood was of such cheap quality and had many splits and nicks in it. The glass had numerous scratches, and the parts that you are supposed to use to bring the windows in were either broken or not working properly on several of the windows. There were gobs of clear glue all over some of the frames, which I had to wash off (wasn't easy) and on one window, bits of wood from inside the frame keep falling off every time I open the window. And to top it all off, the grills that you put on the windows to make the squares were not assembled properly in the factory. A whole box of them arrived and none of them were made properly. My contractor has been trying to get the local representative of the company to make amends. Nothing has happened yet. I even called the company (4 times in one day because they were giving me the run-around) and they were of zero help. The bottom line is that there is nothing special about Andersen. They make their products in the same sloppy, hurried, and unskilled way as all other manufacturers... and they just don't care about quality at all.
Recommendation: Don't but Andersen. Look into other windows.
It’s outrageous that you’re dealing with splits, nicks, and even bits of wood falling off. The glue mess and the improperly assembled grills just add insult to injury. Your contractor is trying to get them to fix this, but Andersen is giving you the runaround. This shows a complete lack of respect for their customers.
You deserve far better than this. Keep pushing them, make your voice heard, and don’t settle for anything less than the quality you were promised. Stay strong and demand that they make this right. Your patience and persistence will pay off, and Andersen needs to understand that customers won’t stand for such shoddy work.
