bay windows
every year we get inundated with house flies. they are in between the closed window and the screen and come into the house. In spite of the window being closed and locked they come in about 50 to 100. we kill the flies and they reappear. I have no idea where they are coming from, somewhere in the window tracks!? I am tired of this yearly occurrence, it is disgusting. I have a cousin that had the same problem with her Anderson windows, they have since moved from the problem home. Any suggestions, other than replace the windows with Pella brand ones.
single hinge french door delamination
I have replaced 19 of my windows with Andersen 400 series and up to now have had a good experience with the window quality and one warranty repair. Now I have seen my single hinge French door become delaminated. The vinyl is peeling off the door and is unsightly and the issue seems to be expanding. The door is on a raised porch and also protected with an overhang, so it is a bit protected from the elements. The companion door is in perfect condition.
The estimator from a local company who is installing another batch of 400 series windows mentioned that Anderson had a manufacturing problem that lead to delamination issues with these doors some time ago and that they expanded their warranty support. I called Anderson's support line (888-888-7020) twice, was informed they did have a quality issue previously, but that I was out of warranty and did a want to order another door? I mentioned that I have spent over $50, 000 over several years on 400 series windows alone and was looking for some level of warranty or consideration here. No dice, the first person promised to check it out and call me back (never received a call back) and the second time I was told I had the wrong door code, which I provided the first time. Really frustrated at this point, I expected better from Anderson.
rotted out storm doors interior corners
Back on 04/07/2017 my contractor purchased two (2) Anderson EMCO Storm doors Serial number #0022554661 and the lower wooden interior corners on both doors rotted out where the hinges hold the pneumatic storm door closer. Obviously this is a manufacturers defective product! since the same exact areas on both doors rotted out at the same time. One storm door faces the North at the back of my home and the other faces the South at the front of my home. I had to have the wood portion that rotted out removed and replaced by a friend of mine. Highly unlikely I'll get any response or resolution to this problem.
double hung renewal by andersen windows
We purchased our windows to replace Crank outs on North side of house thinking that would be the wisest position to save money in Winter. After a very long demonstration, and told we qualify for Energy tax reimbursement, which we found out Mo. does not offer. Windows were installed in October 2017, by an elderly man who brought his wife and son to the job site, later was told he was fired. In January 2018 we were experiencing quite a breeze, winds from the North at 25 miles an hour, we had to put plastic over them, like the old ones, because they were leaking air so bad, in basement and upstairs bedroom, felt like air-conditioning was on! Also we were told 4 windows did not need "new frames" because our frames were fine, got charged for full frame replacement anyways, we did get reimbursed for full frames, 4 double hung windows cost $8000.000 dollars! We were never told they placed a lien on our house, until we received a letter stating lien was removed, from Green Sky who took over the loan. The windows are worse then the original crank outs! I finally reached out to Renewal By Andersen and spoke to Debbie, receptionist, in January 2018, who asked if "we noticed this before the phone call?", I said "yes, but thought maybe we did not have them closed properly, plus they are supposed to be warrantied for life?" Put plastic back up and had installation manager out( Brad Southard and Steve.) I took about 100 pictures as proof, and in January 2018, Brad came out to witness, returned in March with Steve, both Brad and Steve who came out confirmed "bottom was not sealing could tell by the sound, also saw the smoke from incense blowing sideways and upwards on all 4sides and all 4 windows, and has had issues with manufacturer and others complaining as well." We have had them out more then several occasions, we were told to get pictures of the breeze, which I did, , January 2018 as well as having the 2 representatives here who witnessed it with their own eyes, we were told back then, that they had to order parts, they put a couple of felt pieces in corners. Said sashes ((?) Would have to be replaced, were being ordered because they were too small, , but too cold would have to wait for warmer weather, so siding didn't crack, that did not happen either. I finally received a call from receptionist on January 30th 2019 and spoke to receptionist Debbie, who explained " wanted to stay in touch, part's ordered when in, will call", On 4/12/2019, Brad's assistant called to say " still fighting corporate, wanted to stay in contact." On 5/22/2019 Debbie called to advise Josh will be taking over the situation, 5/23/2019 Josh promised my husband that they were finished fighting corporate about"who was going to pay for all 4 replacement windows and ordering them today, even though they knew it would not be us who would pay, either Renewal By Andersen or Corporate would take 4weeks to make new ones and 2 weeks to install, no later then 6/20/2019!" On 7/152019, I received a call from Josh, "Somehow all pictures have been lost!", 1 month after "upgraded windows were supposed to be installed", I was shocked when he referred to the windows as " upgrades, not defects!" I Informed them that these new windows are not considered"upgrades" since they are replacing old version which had "defects, ", since 1 -2 months after installation.. Have been arguing with them since March, I have requested Corporation information which they will not give out. Per Josh, "They will just shoot me an email and start process all over!" I have found the original pictures, I will be sending again to Josh today, 6/22/2019, even though 2 employees were here to witness the air leaks. I don't know if our next step should be small claims court? Since we have paid off half of the loan already.
anderson windows and sliding doors
I have 2 anderson french wood sliders. They are 11 years old 1 year out of warranty i was just told. They have mold in the window caulk the veneer is pulling off and the bottoms have swelled and buckled out. All this from a top manufacturer of doors on a 11 year old door. That proves the craftsmanship to be of the lowest at one of the highest prices. Its ridiculous to see this and have damage from this and unable to get out a door if there was a fire. The warranty department even said they looked repaired once and if that is true then truly shows what a pos these products are that you put out and more need to know about your true craftsmanship of your product. This will be the last anderson product i ever purchase and will make sure others are not deceived by the false products.
Anderson windows team reached out via phone and email to resolve the warranty issue and stood behind their product. They reviewed the issue again and honored it
window molding and weather stripping falling off
I am having some major problems with your products. (1) I have a big picture wood window with 2 crank outs and the seals around the windows are drying out and falling off (1361460 is the only number I can find) (have photos), that and the wood pieces that hold the glass part in are growing mold as is a couple of our other Anderson windows. The second problem is our sliding door, the lock will no longer stay locked or keep the door tight (Prod# 6068, Part# 2610966, Prod ID# [protected])
45 degree angle bay window.
We built our house in late 1984 and installed all new Andersen vinyl clad windows including 2 45 degree angle bays on the south side of the house for passive solar. We install the vinyl clad for ease of maintenance. The windows are in direct sunshine during daylight hours when the sun is out. I was out today looking athe the windows and notice that the vinyl coating is coming loose leaving the wood exposed. I'm not happy with this as one of the reasons we chose Andersen is because of the quality. I'm very disappointed. You can see in the attached pictures where the vinyl is separating on the left side of the window.
vinyl cladding coming off outside of french door.
Vinyl originally started lifting on fixed side of French door. A call to Andersen and person told me they had trouble with the adhesive used to apply the outer skin of vinyl. They sent me a replacement panel to be replaced by me. Shortly after the opening door started doing the same thing. Called again to complain about the the door and all I got was a replacement cost of $656.27 and I do the labor. Never again will I own or recommend a Andersen product.
storm door
My brand new door slams shut because the screw holes for the door arm are too big for the screws provided. As a result, the arm doesn't have proper tension on the door and it provides little to no resistance. Andersen customer service tells me I need to modify the door and they won't replace it. They said there is no other solution. When I asked to speak to a supervisor (because the first person would not budget from "no sir, there is nothing else we can do") she still tells me they going to send a replacement arm. That will literally do nothing! They're just sending a different square peg to try and connect to a round hole. So I have to now Modify my brand new door I spent $250 on? Not happening. I'd rather return it and buy something else that works.
storm door glass exploded
Anderson storm door glass exploded and shattered into pieces suddenly. It was just 14 months since it got installed by Lowe's. Anderson said no warranty for glass. I thought Anderson was good window glass product brand but obviously I was wrong. I googled this issue. It seemed it happened for other consumers as well. ABC even broadcasted it before. So no more Anderson!
patio henged door..400 series
We ordered a henged patio door unfished pine interior.. Door has 3 coats of stain and I noticed on the trim on the top is a different color and wood texture is different.. So the color isn't the same on other parts of the door.. Trim looks defected.. I would like someone from anderson to come and take a look.. Wr purchased the door from home depot and they told me to contact you guys..:i'm enclosing pictures of the problem.. Please contact by email at candlenut2 @comcast.net or by phone at [protected]...
patio door
When door was installed it would not close. It took a year but Anderson did replace one of the panels so the door would close. However the new panel would not lock. After more than an hour on hold the support girl said that was an alignment issue and was not covered by the warranty and would cost $340 to have the new panel adjusted so it would lock.
Anderson warranty is worthless.
anderson 3000 series door
I purchased this door about five years ago and the hinge plate is washed out, which makes the door droop. Thus the hinge came loose, this washed out the screw holes. I called Anderson and was told this is not covered. I'm alright to pay for some of it, but I believe 65.00 is quite a mark up for a door that's supposed to be guaranteed. I also wish I could talk to someone I can understand. I already bought a new kick plate for 25.00 add the 65, I might as well buy a new door.
Ok resign not dipoint
but i seeguin next an this alber
mmm not soft much but yes smison agrend groc and [censor]
series 2500 storm door
The pre-drilled holes for hinge to mount are in the wrong spot. If I put the hinge on using the pre-drilled holes the the hinge will not properly fit in the space between the door edge. When I call the number on the package for help what I get is somebody who will read the install directions to me. When I explained the holes were in the wrong place I was told to just drill new holes. If I drill new holes that will allow the hinge to properly fit half of the existing hole is already exposed and then the screws will not fit the new hole as it will be too large for the screw. The person I talked to on the phone obviously has never held a screw driver let alone installed a door. Anderson Customer Service really needs to employ people who at least know a screw driver from a hammer.
installed windows by anderson leaking - and no call back!!!
windows installed by Anderson- now leaking. numerous calls placed with NO return calls. installed at 120 Sakonnet Rd Portsmouth RI 02871, installed about 5 years ago. a call to Barbara Beaumont would be nice.
This was confirmed- still under warranty when Barbara called. Rep stated she would send someone out asap- to avoid further damage. NOONE will return my mother's calls. she confirmed allof the purchase info over the phone yet no one has even came out!
anderson 4000 storm door
I bought 4 Anderson doors from Home Depot
2 Entry doors and 2 storm doors
Installation went well on three doors but the 4000 storm door was a disaster
The installer could not get the screen out in order to put in the glass
I called Anderson and they sent me a replacement handle. They claimed there was something wrong with the mechanism
Ok, I had the same installer who put the other three doors come out and...same problem
After replacing the parts still can't get the door to release
I'm frustrated
I gave up
Fast forward to now I would really like to get the glass in before winter
I called customer service
Basically got the runaround
Told me to call installer back (cost is on me)
Have installer talk to Anderson and they will troubleshoot with him
First of all I can't afford to take a day off
Can't afford an installer
Based on the reviews on this door it's a piece of junk
Anderson took me and others for a ride
They should have replaced the door
I will "never" recommend this company to anyone!
I'm 66 years old and have to live with a door with a useless piece of glass that won't go in
Winter is coming and all I have is a screen
Can't afford to buy another door
Terrible response from customer service!
I had an Anderson 4000 storm door installed and when it got cold I couldn't get the glass insert in. I had the same door and it was fine for years. I had a handyman friend try to get the glass insert to fit and he could not. I called Anderson Customer Service and they told me to try using a shim and a rubber hammer. I am disabled and could not do this, so they sent me a replacement window. I picked it up yesterday, and it has the same problem. After putting the glass insert in on the left side of the door, away from the handle mechanism, I banged the right bottom and it went in. The locking mechanism was very hard to lock and the insert does not fit well with a small gap on the top left top, away from the door handle. Hopefully, when the weather breaks I will be able to get the screen in. This door/glass insert is very poorly constructed. Serial Number [protected], R. Betz [protected].
Anderson vinyl clad double hung windows rotting in bottom corners
We built our home in the end of 2000 and installed Andersen double hung vinyl clad windows. I've been noticing paint cracking along the lower corners on the inside for years. Finally I noticed the cracks were really covering black rotten wood. I have 29 of these windows in my home and I can think of only a few that aren't rotting! We take good care of our home. We shut the windows when it rains. We use a dehumidifier. We chose the vinyl clad because it would supposedly protect our windows. And now this! This is not something a home owner should have to pay for.
With full knowledge of complaints about these install problems, our installer left the screws on every side of our new windows sticking out as you see in the photos. Our windows are dented, scratched by drill bit, and the manufacturing is flawed with broken trim around the outer edges when delivered.
This is just unacceptable and from what I read, Anderson is not very good at customer service this year 2022 and 23'. Home Depot charged us $8,000 up front for six windows that should look nice.
I have the exact issue. Have you had any success or have an update on this issue? THANKS

replacement part cost, procedure, and customer service
I need to replace the bottom half of a 200 series Anderson window and inquired with their customer service to find out that the part I need which is probably about 1/2 of the window costs more to replace than the cost of buying a new window. It's actually 50$ less to purchase the whole window at Home Depot than to get this replacement. When I complained to rep that this doesn't make sense I got the usual customer service rep brush off that they can't do anything about it. After some back and forth and not addressing my issue the csr asked if there was anything else she could help me with. What? Excuse me? Anything else she can help me with? She didn't help me at all and now she's trying to rush me off the phone? I asked for a manager and of course after being on hold for 10 minutes was told none are available and that I would get a callback shortly. Well it's 4 hours later and no callback. I called the corporate office to complain and they weren't any better. Was told to check with retailer to see if they could get part cheaper for me. It was another brush off. Called to several retailers and they not only can't get part any cheaper it's special order and I'd have to wait 4 weeks for part. I'm building a new home next year for my family and myself - guess what brand of windows I won't be using. Guess what brand of windows I'll never recommend ever again to anyone.
anderson storm door
Hi I purchased two Anderson (empco) storm doors(serial number [protected]) from Home Depot and the doors are already falling apart. I already replaced the piece that holds the door from swinging open from the wind several times cause it isn't strong enough. The screen came apart on one door and the other door is all crooked. I feel like these doors don't deserve the Anderson name. I respect this company and it's quality but these door don't have the quality this company is known for. I would like replacement doors please.
andersen windows
I have installed 11 windows in my home but when the gentleman came to give an estimate I was told he was putting in 12 windows because I wanted all my windows to be done he stated that two window will be done in in one frame so it counts as one but he lied. Then he put it on two different bank accounts and never told me he was doing it like that and didn't give me the information the two new credit banks he made. He also said I would have a year to pay interest free that was a lie. The only thing the was good were the installers kind and courteous and they cleaned after themselves very well. I complain to the main office here in my town and they did nothing there man of keeping me in the loop was horrible and when I said I wanted my 12 window put in they said I would have to pay for it because that was his fault but I still have to pay extra for his doing so now I have 11 new windows and one old window and pay two different banks with two different interest because within three months I had to start paying interest .I am so unhappy with the company
