Renew Services LLC
Renew Services came promptly for mold mitigation, and did a splendid job. They were paid in full immediately.
However, they did not follow up with the following three items:
(1) They promised me a written guarantee for their work. It never happened.
(2) They didn't completely close the vent to the outside of the basement; I can't get it to seal now, and it's still really cold outside!
(3) After taking care of the mold behind the dryer, they shoved the dryer back against the water meter and totally bent the dryer pipe.
Numerous telephone calls and emails were simply ignored. The company phone number now no longer works, only the cell phone of the contractor who did the work. The company (or is it now just the contractor) uses multiple addresses in Cedar Rapids.
I'm not sure if I would recommend them again. They do good work, but their follow through was surely lacking in professional ethics.
Home remodeling
We contracted with Patrick's Handyman and Remodeling to completely remodel 2 full baths, retile 2200 square feet, redo ceiling, paint and replace interior doors. After 6 months they still were not finished and never communicated when they were coming (which was an hour or 2 a couple days a week.) We finally confronted them on it and they quit our job with a full master bath completely demo'd and "punch out" work throughout the house left to be completed. I am attaching screen shots of our text messages showing Patrick's unreasonable and inappropriate responses to our inquiry. They not only quit but left garbage and damage to our personal belongings.
Desired outcome: I would like for them to reimburse for the work contracted that they didn't complete and answer for their unbusinesslike conduct.
Half finished job
The person who was to replace an outside window sill did a good job with that. She was to remove 2 medicine cabinets and fill in with wall board. She did not finish that job.
She did not show up until almost 11 o'clock and did not call first the first day. The second day it was a little later and no call before hand. This was on the 16th. She told us that she would return on the 22nd at 10 o'clock
This is the 24th and we have heard nothing from her. I hope that she has not been paid for this unfinished work. What are we to do about getting this work finished?
Desired outcome: We want the job finished.
Gave my private number out to public
I was going to begin a business relationship with Angie, but after signing up and starting, the amount they charge to use them would cause me to lose money instead of make money. Their leads never amount to anything. After canceling my business relationship with Angie, I am now getting calls multiple times daily about a "business listing" on Google. I do not own my own business, nor do I have a business at this point. The number they have given out is my private number. Angie gave my number out to some number of international /national businesses And now they are calling me incessantly. Just because the business relationship was canceled, does not mean that my number should be put into the public space.
Desired outcome: I want my number removed to whatever database they gave my number to, and an apology for wasting my time daily. I want to stop the constant calls from companies asking about my business listing.
Plumbing services
We requested for a plumber to come give us a quote on some plumbing in the home in Keller, TX. One company called HR Phoenix LLC responded and sent their plumber named Will. This was his quote:
Labor per 1st hour = $269
Labor per 2nd hour= $145
3 hours work -$269 + $145 + $145 = $569
He also left a list of the needed supplies and had no idea what to do and had to call his office for instructions.
I was very upset bout the outrageous hourly rate and wonder if Angie's list ever vet these contractors or have any maximum hourly rate allowed for specific projects.
I never called them back, but decided to warn other homeowners about such daylight robbery.
Baker electric solar
My wife and I purchased a solar system for Backer Electric in 2015.
We were told that thirty-six panels, would do the job.
The first three years it lived up to expectations.
Then in 2019 we were hit with a SDGE bill at the end of the year for $750.67.

I've call Baker multicable time to see if we could get a tec. out to see if the system is malfunctioning.
Their service after the sale is nonexistent.
Even after I posted my review on yelp, the only thing they wanted was my full name and address, that they have from account.
They asked me to call and talk to the service manager, who could not be reached because the person that answered the phone said he could not transfer me to them.
Then hung up on me.
I think they have a no service or repair because they sell your contract to a third party, they just don't care.
I would not recommend Baker Electric to my worst enemy.

Pool liner install.
I've had an Angie list person come out to my house to install a pool liner. This was schedule for a 2-day job back in Oct. of 2022. It's now Jan. and the installer told me he was finished, so I paid him. Now that I've been able to look at the quality of work, it's not acceptable. I've tried to contact the person who installed the liner, but he will not respond back to any e-mails I've sent him. I was under the impression that Angi was going to send another person out to straighten out the mess the first one made. Now the second one is telling me there will be another charge for him fixing the mess the first one made. I will never use Angie's list for anything again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, stay away.
Housekeeper
We hired a cleaning person from anti's and was very disappointed with her prediction. We then cancelled her and decided to not have another till the new year. Witch we have yet to do. The complaint is the since last november we learned that anti's has been drawing $128,50 out of my wife's account every two weeks. Somebody is getting paid off from tis and it's not right.
I have tried to call angi's but we can't find a good phone number
Any help you can provide would be helpful.
Oven repair
Three weeks ago I contacted Angi to get my Samsung oven repaired. Ms Summer was highly recommended however when she did show up as her initial scheduled appointment with me she could not make. When she did show up she did no troubleshooting and assumed it was the oven blower. She stated she would order one however she gas neglected to keep me up to date on the parts status. I'm tired of trying to contact her and have since hired a Samsung rep to repair my oven. Using Angi was a total waste of my time. I will not use them again.
Desired outcome: I've already spent over 200 dollars, seeing as how nothing was done I wouldn't mind getting my money back.
Online advertising
As a former employee, I was trained and coached on how to be emotionally and pycohogically manipulative to prospects. We were told that this is the way the advertisers buy. Employees were subjected to public humiliation, verbal, phycological, and emotional abuse on a regular basis. They do not provide reasonable accomodations for disability and allow managment to discriminate against employees who have disclosed disability to them. We are told that all negative feedback from prospective and former advertisers are lies. We were encouraged to excessively call prospects daily. We were trained on how to bully, intimidate, coerce, manipulate and insult prospect into buying the product or hanging up the call. The company standards and policies are structured to create a high turnover rate in the sales department. Interviewers tell new hires that they have 85% retention rate to influence people to work with them, when in reality it's 2%. They penalize employees for using PTO, berevement, and leave of absence requests. They make unrealistic demands and do not provide reasonable accomodations for disability to make it possible for employees to fulfill leave of absence requests in a humanely possible timeframe. They retaliate against employees that cooperate with internal investigations on managment misconduct.
Desired outcome: For prospective advertisers to hear the truth and have the opportunity to make an educated decision.
Plumbing pipe
I hired Angi because I needed a pipe moved back and up in my shower . The first contractor did it all Wei g did not move it up high enough and completely messed it up. They sent a new contractor out and they did move the pipe up but the faucet is still messed up and instead of contacting them again I’m just going with someone rise. I was charged for a job that was t even done correctly and still need to pay someone else to fix it. Worse service ever. I asked for an invoice never received that either. NEVER HIRE THEM!

Kitchen remodel
CMK is a company to avoid! Don't be fooled by a slick salesperson who promises a job that the company doesn't deliver.
My recent kitchen remodel was riddled with complications from day one.
The demo crew failed to isolate the mess and to protect the property. Floor tiles were damaged. Chandeliers that were supposed to be removed were not. The debris was to be removed the day of demotion instead it was moved into my garage where it remained for a week.
Dry wall replacement finish was applied with a spray can instead of the industry standard fine spray compressor. The job had to be redone. Two sections of the drywall still haven't been restored to acceptable standard.
The project was "completed" in May of 2022 with a caveat of details to be addressed as warranty work. Numerous requests to complete the warranty work remain ignored.
There's much more that can be listed but for the sake of brevity I will close this review. If you are considering CMK for your project I would strongly advise you to go elsewhere. Perhaps another company might be as bad as CMK but it is hardly possible that another could be worse. Photos available upon request.

TV Mount Installation
Hello,
I purchased a TV from Walmart and had an installation scheduled for November 18, 2022. The technician never showed up. I called constantly to ask what was the status of my 9a appointment. He said he was delayed and would come in an hour. He never came and never called. I contacted Angi List Customer Service and cannot understand what they are saying. It is January 4, 2023 and now I'm being told that there's "technical difficulties" and I was transferred to another department.
Desired outcome: Refund of my $75 please.
After calling 3 times today and being disconnected twice, I reached someone who said they need a receipt. I would have sent that 2 months ago but no representative from Angies list asked for that. They said a refund would be issued. Today, January 4, 2023 they have a different story. I have never used this service and will not ever use it or recommend it to anyone. Can someone please assist me with my refund. Thank you!
Theft of personal items.
I hired Christopher Joseph Painting Co to paint my home of which was furnished. He seemed professional and I agreed to begin painting December 26th, 2022.
I moved all my belongings to the center of each room allowing movability and access to all walls.
There were four workers in total. A young man and a female who painted all walls within my home, and an older gentleman with a young man who worked on my kitchen cabinet.
At the end of the workday, I would push my large tv located in the living room back against the wall to view movies on my firestick, and before they return the following day, I would move the tv back to the center of the room.
The young man and female started working on the living room so instead of moving the large tv, I utilized a smaller tv with a Roku attached.
The job came to an end, and I was pleased with the job they've done. I texted Christopher upon completion letting him know I was pleased with the outcome.
I then began putting things back in their proper place and decided to watch tv on the large screen once I was done.
I searched all over the house for the remote to the firestick, of which I could not find. I got tired of looking and decided to use the Roku from the smaller tv on the large tv. To my surprise, when I went to plug the Roku into the back of the tv, I noticed the firestick that I Velcro to the tv was STOLEN, this being the reason I was unable to find the remote (They took them both).
I immediately reached out to Christopher to inform him of what one of his workers did. Christopher was not apologetic, and flat out denied his workers stealing anything from my home, he became very nasty and began using profanity towards me.
I also had a pair of neon light strips with remote controls. One was in the kitchen, the other in the living room. I removed them off the wall and staged them in the living room until paint job was done. When I went to reinstall the lights, I noticed one of the neon light strips with remote control was STOLEN.
Once again, I contacted Christopher to advise him to look into this matter because he has a THIEF / THIEVES working for him, and he is sending these THIEVES into people's homes.
He said he will reimburse me for the firestick of which is insignificant, it's the PRINCIPLE of the matter
Desired outcome: To warn future potential customers of Christopher Joseph Painting Co that they run the risk of letting someone with Sticky Fingers into their homes.BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THINGS OF VALUE!!!
Fake leads and fraudulent withdraws from an unauthorized account
AngiAds has collected over $32,000 this year from our company in an agreement to provide quality leads. They have failed to supply even 30% of what they promised. Our account manager, Amanda Reyes has been impossible to reach. After refusing to pay until we spoke to someone from Angi’s, they began charging several of our bank accounts without authorization. When we were finally able to get Amanda on the phone, she insisted that she didn’t have a supervisor that had any more power than she had. AngiAds sent us leads that were contracted to be sent to just 2 contractors in our field. Instead, they charged us duplicate charges for the exact same leads in both AngiAds and AngiLeads. Leads were fake, old leads, and typically put us in touch with angry customers who were lashing out at Angi’s for sharing their information without their consent. As we’ve begun researching legal repercussions, we’re finding that we are just one of thousands of small business owners who have been misled and stolen from for the past year. After being told that there’s no one higher in Amanda’s employment line, we are stuck losing over $30,000 and so freeing the repercussions of trying to run a small business on no leads. Shane on Angi’s abs their faulty business practices.
Desired outcome: We would like a refund for all the fake leads provided and the investment made in marketing that had little to zero results.
Clear and pure water
Hired them on October 19, 2022. Did not show up until November 10th after I complained several times. I wanted a water filter installed under my sink with an attachment to the ice maker. All the water lines were in place from my old water filter. The person that installed the water filter did not hook up to the ice maker because he said he did not have the proper fitting. He said he would get the fitting and be back in a couple of days. He never returned. I have called George Parks, the owner of Clear and Pure, several times. He promised over and over that he would send someone. After a couple of weeks and several phone calls to him, he said he would come out himself. He did come out but he had no idea how to do the work. He said the man that installed the water filter was a car mechanic and had a regular job so he could not come and finish the job. Mr. Parks did not bring the right fitting so he had to leave and go purchase another fitting. He installed it and left before testing to see if the hookup was successful. It was not successful! I had to call him several more times to send someone who knew what they were doing to finish the job. After putting me off several times he agreed to come on December 26th. On the morning of December 26th, he called and said he could not come because he had "hives" and had to go to the doctor. He does not have any employees that know how to hook up the ice maker to the water filter even though he advertises himself as a water filter installer. He asked me if I could just get a friend to come and hook it up for me. He should not be considered a water filter installer. He did not give me any literature or instructions for the water filter and the water filter is a different brand than he originally told me he was going to install. I would never recommend him or his company to do any kind of work. It is January 2, 2023, and I still do not have a working ice maker. I will have to pay someone else to come and finish his job that I already paid him for.
Desired outcome: To send a qualified person to finish the job. Since he is not qualified to do a water filter installation, he should pay someone that is qualified toto come finish the job that I have already paid him for.
I used All Mechanical A/C they did a very professional and saved me 5500 by repaing my trane a/c unit. I will use him again. He was very knowlegable and professional.Great personality.Thank you Hector.
Asphalt paving
Elite asphalt paving [protected]. Beware of this company. They are lying, deceitful and misleading. They suck you in with a sweet deal and then zap you with a hugh bill. If they show up at your door wanting to sell you some leftover asphalt send them on their way or you'll regret it. They are located somewhere in delaware and service maryland, pennsyvania and new jersey.
Angies failure to process and post reviews
I opened a contractors account with Angies about a year ago. At the time they stressed how important reviews are to the success of my advertising.
The first couple months Angies loaded four reviews and then just stopped.
I have had at least ten additional reviews completed by clients some more than once and Angies has not loaded them on my profile. Seems they place one call or send one email to verify the review and then drop it.
I have called and discussed the matter with my specialist Rory Connelly and he states that it is out of his hands and there is nothing that can be done.
I have ask that my account be closed due to Angies lack of concern and that happened quickly, but Angies wants to penalize me with a 35% cancellation fee.
None of this is right!
Desired outcome: I would like for Angies to do their job and process my reviews.I would like a new specialist that gives a [censored].orI would like to cancel my agreement with no charges.
House cleaning
I paid a woman named Amanda for cleaning my house on Dec 4 in preparation of my husband's memorial service. She showed me an app that said it was $108. I told her it was supposed to be a lot more than that, so I gave her $208. in cash. She said thanks and left then my daughters credit card was charged $250. because she was the one that had arranged it for me. It was Dec 4 at 315 Cotton Tail Drive in Baldwin Ga. My daughter's name is Laura Miller.
Amanda did a great job, but I think $458. was over the top for a 4 hour cleaning job.
Desired outcome: Please refund the overpriced amount.
Angie didn't check out elite efficiency pro's from dfw at all. They were not insured or a reputable company. Their website showed they were in business 22yrs. He ( Lane Palmer)He sprayed expanding foam in my attic over the old fiberglass and cellulose insulation. After the job was done and paid. I found out that is never done. Creates mold and mildew. Thats were I stand now. Angie does not will not help me at all. Offered arbitration but the company does not use their services anymore so I'm on my own. Never use Angie again.
Billed for no work
I originally made an appointment to install a sink with Angi. The rescheduled the original appointment for 2 weeks three days before the appointment. I cancelled the appointment.
I scheduled a new appointment to install the sink. They sent message to me introducing my technical, Alejandro. When I found another plumber who could work on our schedule I contacted him directly via message and asked him to cancel, he replied “ok”
Much to my surprise, her showed up on the appointment day. He texted from our gate and I reminded him that the appointment had been cancelled and he left.
That afternoon, I was billed 187.10 for the appointment and I was asked to give feedback on the job via email – it was unsatisfactory for obvious reasons. When I contact customer service at Angi they told me:
• The appointment had not ben cancelled through them. Silly me I thought directly contacting the plumber would be through them
• I was responsible for the 187.10 because the plumber’s time is valuable and that he waited over 30 minutes to enter the house – that is incorrect information – he left in less than 5 minutes.
• They offered me a 50% discount on my next service because they had already paid the plumber. I said another service was unlikely. If they are going to change me for doing nothing, I cannot imagine what they would charge for actually working.
To make a long story short, Angi will side with technicians no matter what the effect if on their customers is. I sense the plumber screwed up on the schedule yet I am holding the bag for the cost.
