Unauthorized Transactions and E-Commerce Industry Concerns: A Cautionary Tale
This is like, really concerning, you know? Like, it's messing with the whole e-commerce industry and stuff. So, we had like, 314 transactions that Authorized.net said might be fraud, but we didn't like, check them in time. And then they like, expired or something, which we get, but then they like, magically showed up as approved on Shopify. And then like, the system and the 3PL shipped out like, 314 orders worth like, $52,000. Crazy, right?
So, we've been like, going back and forth between these two big companies, and they're like, not giving us any answers. They keep asking for like, tech info and stuff, and it's been like, weeks. Like, what are we supposed to do if we can't trust these big companies to like, make sure our transactions are legit and stuff?
I'm like, challenging everyone to like, check their transactions too. Like, we can't be the only ones dealing with this. It's like, a total anomaly in the system or something. So, if you're like, having the same issue, hit me up. We gotta like, build a collective case or something.
Anyway, have a good day, y'all.
Disappointing Experience with Authorize.net: Poor Communication and Lack of Follow-Up
I recently had an experience with Authorize.net, a payment gateway service recommended to me by Wells Fargo's merchant services. I was excited to start my new business and needed to take credit card payments over the phone. The local representative informed me that most fees would be waived if I used Authorize.net. However, I was unable to get a clear idea of what my rate would be until I spoke with a man named Roberto.
Roberto asked me a lot of questions about my business and how I planned to use the payments received. If I didn't give him the answer he was looking for, he would transfer me to someone else. I found this frustrating and time-consuming. After two hours at the bank, including issues with docu-signing, I was told that I would hear back from them in 2-3 days. However, by Friday, I had not received any communication from them. I tried calling Roberto's phone number, but it turned out he didn't have an office there. I sent an email on Friday morning, but didn't receive a reply until Monday afternoon.
I was disappointed with the lack of follow-up and communication from Authorize.net. I left a message saying I didn't want to deal with Roberto anymore, after three doses of lip service and no follow-thru. When the supervisor finally called me back, she informed me that I was not approved, without any explanation or questions from any underwriting or approval department. I was confused and frustrated by this news.
I believe that Roberto's poor communication skills and lack of follow-up prevented my business from being able to take credit cards through their service. I felt like I was dealing with a gang banger instead of a professional representative. The only reason I chose Authorize.net over SQUARE was because they offer 24/7 customer service, while SQUARE only has online support. At the time, this was an important factor for me.
Overall, my experience with Authorize.net was disappointing. I hope that they can improve their communication and follow-up processes in the future.
Authorize.net Review: Nightmare Experience with Delayed Review and Funds Held for Over a Month
I decided to give Authorize.net a try after being a loyal user of Paypal for years. I was hoping to find a better merchant account with lower fees, but unfortunately, my experience with Authorize.net has been nothing but a nightmare. It's been four long weeks and I'm still in the process of getting "REVIEWED". I run a serious online business that has been established for six years, and I expected a smoother process from Authorize.net.
To start with, Authorize.net was quick to take my $99 setup fee, but to my surprise, it ended up being $133.43 after some unknown charge of $1.56. After three days of setup, I thought everything was okay, and I even had access to the "virtual terminal". However, that was not the case. I had to expose my whole identity to them, including my Social Security, Business Name, Business Tax ID, and Driver's License. After that, I received an email from Cybersource/Authorize.net stating that they needed more information from me, such as my "balance sheet", "Privacy policy" on my site revised, and a dedicated "SSL" which was already there. I revised my privacy policy and purchased SSL, which I didn't have to.
I use Quickbooks to keep records, so I called the customer service line and spoke to Dolores Tremonte, the credit analyst. I asked her what else she needed from me to get this thing reviewed and get my funds released. She replied, "We will review it and email you." It's been 34 days, and I still haven't received any answer on my review, and my payments from customers are still being held in some "virtual bank account" as they say at Cybersource.net Direct Tel: ***066. I have put my life on the line for these people, and they are a bunch of scammers holding on to my money and my livelihood. How am I supposed to send partial refunds to customers or use those funds to print shipping labels? I am not happy with this.
I am disappointed with the service provided by Authorize.net. I expected a smoother process, but instead, I have been left in the dark for over a month. I hope that they can resolve this issue soon and release my funds. Until then, I cannot recommend this service to anyone.
Authorize: A Nightmare Experience for Merchant Account Applicants
Authorize has been a real pain in the neck for me. I applied for a merchant account for $99 USD and got an email saying that someone from First Service Merchants would contact me in 2 business days. I waited and waited, but nobody contacted me. It's really hard to get in touch with a real person. They charged me for the application without providing any service. I saw that they were charging me on my account, but I couldn't get in touch with anyone to cancel my account. Finally, after a month, I was able to get in touch with someone to cancel my account. But I still see that they are charging me. I am disputing this with my credit card company. It was really hard to get a hold of someone from Authorize to resolve this issue. The lady from Authorize was really rude and said "NO" they will not give me a refund. My credit card company's rep had a hard time getting a hold of someone from Authorize too. He had to pretend to be a customer signing up for a new merchant account to be able to speak to somebody. Authorize is a disgrace. It has been very frustrating with them. It's obvious that they will charge you a lot of money for an application, not provide you with any service, just walk away with your money, and still charge you after you close down your account. Since they are such a big company, they have the power to get away with this. They are screwing the little guys (small merchants). Don't waste your time, energy, and money with this company.
Stay Away from Authorize.net: Shady Business Practices and Scams
If you're in the market for a merchant account, I highly recommend staying away from Authorize.net. They seem to be pulling scams left and right. My experience with them was a complete nightmare. I filled out their application and was approved for an account, but then 3 hours later, the same department closed my account for no reason. It was suspicious, to say the least.
But the real kicker was when I was charged $49 for a so-called gateway setup fee. I had no idea what this fee was for, and when I contacted their sales department to ask for a refund, they were incredibly rude and unhelpful. It was clear that they had no intention of giving me my money back.
To make matters worse, I later found out that Authorize.net had sent my application out to every single scumbag merchant company that has a long history of theft. This was a huge red flag for me, and I knew that I needed to take action.
I filed a complaint with the attorney general's office, and I also went to my bank to dispute the charges. I demanded a letter stating that the gateway was closed the same day they approved me, just to cover my bases.
Looking back, I wish I had known about these issues before I applied for an account with Authorize.net. If I had, I would have never given them my bank account information. My advice to anyone considering using this company is to be very cautious. Don't trust them with your money until you've done your research and are confident that they're a reputable company.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Authorize.net to anyone. Their business practices are shady at best, and they seem to be more interested in ripping people off than providing a quality service. Stay away from them if you can.
Predatory Practice Alert: Authorize.net's Echeck Services Held Our Funds for 90 Days
Authorize.net is a credit card gateway that we have been using through our Chase Merchant account. It has been a good product for us, but we recently had an issue with their Echeck services. Our first client paid us through the Echeck system with a payment excess of 5k, but we had no clear path to when we would receive the funds. After several days, I decided to call Authorize.net for understanding on when to expect funding.
A helpful representative answered my call and informed me that the client paid on the 7/25/22 and it would be available in 5 business days. However, I received an email the day prior to the call stating that Authorize.net needed more information on our business. The representative asked me to send the requested information, which I did. By the end of the day, I received an email saying that we do not fit their business model and they closed my Echeck account.
I called again and talked with the same person, which never happens, ever. He stated that their business model isn't for my type of services and my funds will be held for 90 days. It's funny how 5 days now turned into 90 and they chose to close the Echeck account, not me, after just one transaction. The credit card gateway is still going no problem, but here is the odd thing: they already withdrew my client's money from her account, so why does 5 days turn into 90? And if she requests a dispute and refund, it's 90 days for her to wait.
Option 2 is to do a refund to her and allow her to pay via credit card, but they closed the account and took my option away to do so. This is why I say it's a predatory practice. Basically, they suck and run from any service that is not directly offered from Chase. We will never use them again and are looking at new business banking options. They can't be trusted, and I can see them doing a flip-flop on credit transactions next.
Authorize.net Holding My Funds for 56 Days and Counting: A Frustrating Experience for My Small Business
Authorize.net has been holding onto my hard-earned cash for over 56 days now, and it's causing a real headache for my small business. I've got $8097 in customer payments that they won't release to me for another 90 days, even though all my customers have already had the funds withdrawn from their accounts and have signed agreements to transfer the money via ACH. I've never had any issues with cancelled payments or bad credit, so I'm at a loss as to why they're holding onto my money.
It's really frustrating to have paid for and shipped all my products to my customers, only to have my cash flow held up by a payment gateway that's supposed to make things easier for me. I signed up for authorize.net because I needed both credit card and ACH echeck services, but it's been nothing but trouble since day one.
When I first entered my customer check payments, the funds were withdrawn from their accounts as expected. But then authorize.net refused to give me the money and said it was on hold for 30 days. I asked if there was a problem with the customers' banks, but they said no. I even double-checked with my customers, and they confirmed that the funds had been withdrawn and they were happy with my products.
After 40 days, I checked in with authorize.net again, only to be told that they were now keeping my money on hold for 90 days. I still haven't received any explanation or justification for this, even though I've sent them written agreements from each of my customers showing that they agreed to the funds being withdrawn from their accounts.
I've tried everything to get my money released, from calling and emailing support to involving my payment processor and bank. But each time, I've been told that the funds will remain on hold for 90 days. It's been 56 days now, and I'm still waiting for my first three customer payments totaling $8097.
Thankfully, I've found another payment gateway and processor that I can rely on, and I'll be avoiding authorize.net like the plague from now on. It's just not worth the hassle and headache to deal with a company that doesn't seem to care about its customers' cash flow.
Beware of Authorize.net: Poor Service, Hidden Fees, and Confusing Sign-Up Process
Authorize.net and its affiliates are not the best option out there. They charge a whopping $99 just to check if you are eligible for their services. When you compare their fees to PayPal, there is no particular advantage.
Their sales and support team is terrible. They disconnect you when you try to transfer from one department to another, and you are put on hold several times in just a few minutes. Their phone system is the strangest I have ever heard.
I never even used their service once, yet I was billed. I never even logged into the control panel. When you create an account, you get other companies that handle part of the service, which makes it a mess. I thought I was waiting for approval for weeks when the sub-company was requesting more financial information, even though my 'gateway' account was approved.
Now, of course, you can get a refund, but only if you exceed the 48-hour mark. I was told my account was approved but locked, meaning that I couldn't withdraw anything from it until I supplied the paperwork, but I could only put money into it.
Even though you sign up with one company, you have to track down the scraps of your account that are located elsewhere. They continue to bill you but pretend not to know about the sub-accounts with other vendors. I had to ask over and over to cancel my merchant account, at least six times before the salesperson could give me information on it.
When was the last time you bought a car, but the lug nuts were from a different company, and that company had separate billing? And because you didn't ask for a refund on the lug nuts, they wouldn't let you return the car? That's the kind of service you get with Authorize.net.
In my opinion, their signup process is a nice little scam. Who else wouldn't offer a refund if you didn't use the product, and the account was locked so you couldn't withdraw any money from it?
I have had a PayPal account for years and never had any issues like this. I can only imagine what kind of hell those people have had that trust them to manage their online sales.
Authorize.net and Electronic Payments: Unscrupulous Thieves Stealing from Merchants
I had a bad experience with Authorize.net and their affiliated company Electronic Payments back in May of 2017. I was using their service in Massachusetts and my representative was a guy named Barney Kalman from BK Merchant Solutions. However, he disappeared one day and left me to deal with the cancellation process myself.
When I contacted Electronic Payments to change my bank account and start using a new processor for my credit card sales, they said they would cancel my account. However, they did not tell me that it was a bifurcated process and that I also needed to cancel my account with Authorize.net. As a result, both companies slammed my bank account with unauthorized charges, racking up over $600 in bank fees and stealing my funds.
I thought I was done with these scumbags, but today I received a call from a collection agency demanding payment for Authorize.net. They were billing me again for a July charge after I had already cancelled them in May. It seemed like they were just trying to steal every penny they could until I physically stopped them.
When I called Authorize.net to complain, I spoke to a guy named Anthony who claimed that I had not cancelled my account. This was an outright lie, as I clearly remembered cancelling with him. It seemed like their racket was to tell you they cancelled your service and then raid your bank account as fast and as hard as they could until you physically pried them off your wallet. When they couldn't steal anymore, they resorted to extortion.
I told Anthony that they owed me money and threatened to take legal action if I found any negative remarks on my credit history. I hope he didn't take me seriously, but I would not hesitate to drag their $#*! into court if necessary. Massachusetts takes a dim view of unscrupulous companies stealing from their taxpayers.
To other merchants, I would advise being super careful with these people and not using Authorize.net or Electronic Payments to process your sales. I processed hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, and they would hold my funds for two days while collecting interest from me and all their customers. I now use Elavon, and so far, I believe they are honest. However, I would still avoid Authorize.net like a disease.
My Terrible Experience with Authorize.net: A Warning to Online Store Owners
I recently had a terrible experience with Authorize.net and I feel compelled to share my story. As an online store owner, I signed up with Authorize.net to be my gateway/payment processor/merchant. At first, everything seemed fine, but then I received a phone call from a man claiming to be with the company. He explained to me that the money would be held for a week before releasing to my account. I was not happy about this, as I had orders that could not be fulfilled until I was paid out. However, I decided to go along with it, as I was new to the company.
After waiting a full week, I still did not receive anything in my account. At this point, they were holding back just shy of $7000.00. When I called to inquire about the issue, I was informed that my merchant had closed us down. I was not notified of this beforehand, which was frustrating. The woman I spoke to informed me that the funds could be held for up to 120 days, which seemed like an incredibly long time. As a result, I was unable to fulfill my customers' orders, which was a huge problem for me.
I called back again and spoke to a woman named Tony, who refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor. She said she was the only one I could deal with at this time. I asked her several questions, but she refused to give me any clear answers. I was frustrated and confused, as I had no idea what to do next.
After doing some research, I discovered that Authorize.net has had multiple BBB complaints this year alone. They have also been covered by a news station, KUTV, for similar issues. It seems that they are simply modern-day thieves, stealing money from unsuspecting customers.
I am currently in the process of contacting my attorney and reaching out to the news station. I want my money released so that I can take care of my customers' orders. I would strongly advise anyone considering using Authorize.net to do their research and proceed with caution.

Authorize.net Review: Hidden Fees, Poor Customer Service, and Lack of Accountability
I recently had an experience with a company called authorize.net that offers merchant services. At first, I was impressed with what they had to offer. However, as I delved deeper into their pricing structure, I found that there were hidden fees that made the service less appealing. I decided to close my account, but unfortunately, the process was not as straightforward as I had hoped.
As a new customer, I was required to fill out some paperwork before I could close my account. Despite doing so, I found that my account was still open and I was still being charged. This was a frustrating experience, and it made me feel like I was being scammed.
Unfortunately, this was not my first negative experience with authorize.net. In the past, I had a transaction worth $1,000 that was held by a third-party company for no apparent reason. Despite my efforts to resolve the issue, the company refused to release the funds. I was even asked to provide signed sales slips for an e-commerce transaction, which seemed like an unreasonable request.
What's more, I found that authorize.net has no oversight over the third-party companies they do business with. This lack of accountability is concerning, and it makes me hesitant to trust the company.
Overall, I would advise others to avoid authorize.net at all costs. While their pricing may seem attractive at first, the hidden fees and lack of accountability make it a risky choice. Instead, I would recommend using a more trusted service like PayPal, which has a better track record and fewer problems.
Avoid Authorize.net: Poor Service and Billing Issues
When we first started using Netsuite, we were excited to hear that Authorize.net had a native connection to NS. We quickly signed the paperwork and were eager to implement the service. However, within an hour of trying to set it up, it became clear that they had no solution for us. All they offered was a virtual terminal that required us to manually retype transactions. Needless to say, we never processed a single transaction and cancelled the service.
Despite cancelling, we continued to receive bills from Authorize.net. After making over 6 calls to their customer service, they finally agreed to remove the charges. However, they failed to do so and even sent our account to a collector. When we tried to explain the situation, they gave us the analogy of ordering cable service and cancelling on the same day, but still owing for the month. However, the difference here is that the service never worked in the first place. It's like if the cable company came out to install and couldn't make it work, but instead of trying to fix the issue, Authorize.net threatened us with lawyers and collectors.
When Authorize.net works, they may be a fine company. However, when they don't, they offer no help and act like jerks. It's frustrating to deal with a company that doesn't take responsibility for their mistakes and instead tries to bully their customers into paying for a service that never worked. We would not recommend Authorize.net to anyone and suggest finding a more reliable and customer-friendly payment processing service.
Terrible Customer Service: My Experience with Authorize.net
Authorize.net is a company that I would not recommend to anyone. Their customer service is absolutely terrible! I signed up with them in July, but unfortunately, I had to cancel my account the very next day. They assured me that everything was fine and that the cancellation was approved, and that nothing would be charged to my account. However, to my surprise, I noticed a $99 set up fee charge on my debit card in August.
I immediately contacted their customer service to have the money returned to my account. However, they informed me that I needed to speak to my account manager, "Mike," to get the refund. I tried to contact him for weeks, leaving numerous messages and voice mails, but he never called me back or responded to my emails. Every time I called, I was met with unhelpful customer service representatives who were unable to assist me.
Finally, after a month and 10 days, I was able to speak to a manager who transferred me to Mike. He assured me that the money would be refunded to my account, but I would have to wait for 10 business days to receive it. It has been two months now, and I am still waiting for my money to be returned.
In conclusion, I would strongly advise against using Authorize.net. Their customer service is terrible, and they do not seem to care about their customers. I have had to deal with this headache for two months now, and I still have not received my money back. Save yourself the trouble and find a different company to work with.

Beware of Authorize.net: Scammers Charging for Services Never Received
So, I was on the hunt for a processing company and I put through an application. Unfortunately, they couldn't help me out as I'm Canadian and needed an SSN or ITIN in order to open an account. I was a bit disappointed, but I moved on and forgot about it. Little did I know, they were charging me monthly for a service I never did get! When I noticed the payments coming out of my account 10 months LATER, I was shocked. I called the bank and had them cancel the charges and reverse the last few payments. I thought that was the end of it, but boy was I wrong.
After I did this, I got a message from Authorize.net saying I OWED them money! FOR WHAT?! I was so confused and frustrated. Then, to make matters worse, I just now got a letter from collections OMG saying I owe $100 OMG! I couldn't believe it. I was so angry and upset. I decided to call Authorize.net and give them the last 4 digits of my bank account, the name of my company, the address, and e-mail. The lady on the other end said she could find it and needed me to login to their website. This is where I said NO. I'm not logging into anything to do with this company! I don't trust them and I don't want to give them any more information than they already have.
In my opinion, DO NOT give them your bank info or anything else. They are scammers and I don't want anyone else to go through what I did. I'm not sure what to do about this being Canadian, but I'm going to do my best to avoid the website and anything to do with this company. It's just not worth the hassle and stress.
Beware of Authorize: Hidden Fees and Poor Customer Service
Watch out for Authorize! They may seem like a good deal with their low processing fee per transaction, but once you start using their service, they hit you with fee after fee after fee. And if you're using a Droid phone, they make you set up two accounts, which means you get charged DOUBLE for one service! It's not fair, and it's not right.
And don't forget about the $99.00 annual report fee per account. They say it's for sending the IRS a 1099 report, but that report is mandated by law, and they're not allowed to charge for it. I've filed a formal complaint with the Missouri Attorney General's office, and I hope they do something about it.
I never thought I'd have to write a complaint like this, but Authorize has left me no choice. They don't understand compromise, and they don't care about their customers. I've asked to speak to a supervisor, but they're never available, and they never call me back.
It's been two months, and they're still taking fees out of my account, even though I've cancelled my account and have confirmation that it's been cancelled. I had to go to my bank office to get it stopped.
But there is hope! I found a processor who truly has no fees other than when you run the cards, and they have the same rates as Authorize. So don't make the same mistake I did. Stay away from Authorize and find a better processor.
Beware of Authorize.net: My Account Was Closed and Funds Held for 120 Days
I'm a home inspector and I just started my own business. A few of my clients couldn't attend inspections and asked if they could pay with a credit card. I decided to set up an account with authorize.net. At first, everything seemed great. I was able to process four transactions without any issues. However, after those four transactions, I received an email from authorize.net stating that my account would be closed and all funds would be held for 120 days. I was shocked and didn't understand why this was happening.
I decided to call the support number and spoke with a representative named David B. Unfortunately, he wouldn't give me his last name. When I asked him why my account was being closed, he stated that he couldn't give me a reason because it was proprietary information. I was confused and frustrated. What did he mean by proprietary information? I asked him to explain, but he refused to give me any information.
Feeling helpless, I decided to go to my bank and have them call authorize.net. My banker was shocked to hear what was happening and how authorize.net wouldn't even give me a reason for closing my account. I had to close my business account to prevent them from stealing my money. I also attempted to refund the money to my clients, but if that doesn't work, my clients will have to claim fraud at their bank and wait for repayment through the fraud department.
I regret ever setting up an account with authorize.net. Please beware of this company. I will be filing a complaint with the FTC and the attorney general. It's important to protect yourself and your business from companies like this.
Authorize.net's E-Check Services: A Nightmare for Small Business Owners
I been using authorize.net for a long time, like 15 years. I run a business and I recently signed up for e-check services so my customers can pay with their bank info. I was happy when they approved my request. I charged one customer $1000.00 and waited for 7 days for the money to be deposited in my account. But it didn't happen. I called them and they told me to keep processing payments so they can see regular activity and then the funds will be deposited in 7 days. So I charged another $4000.00. But then they sent me an email cancelling my e-check account without any warning or explanation. They told me to email them in 90 days to ask for my money back. I called them and talked to their underwriters. They were so arrogant, rude, and self-serving. They didn't care about my situation at all. As a small business owner during Covid, I need that money. I already provided my services to my customers, but now I have to wait for 90 days to get MY MONEY back, with no interest. This company is so sleezy and you should stay away from them. I even contacted my state's district attorney to investigate their practices. They are criminals.
Warning: Terrible Customer Service and Overcharging by Authorize.net
I am absolutely flabbergasted by the unprofessionalism of this company. It's like they don't even care about their customers! I had a problem with my billing and reached out to support.authorize.net, but all they did was copy and paste some generic response about how they "understand my concerns" and told me to call in. What's the point of having an email support if they're just going to tell you to call in anyway? It's ridiculous!
But that's not even the worst part. They overcharged me by over $200! Can you believe it? And to make matters worse, they had TWO accounts set up for me and were billing them both! When I tried to get a refund, they just gave me the runaround. I went back to support.authorize.net, but they just told me to call in again. So I did, and they said they would investigate and get back to me. But what did they do? They sent me another one of those copy and paste emails denying my claim!
I mean, come on! They even acknowledged that there were two accounts set up, but they still won't give me my money back. It's like talking to a brick wall! I'm so fed up with this company that I'm going to dispute the charges and tell everyone I know about their shady practices. I'm even going to the Internet Retailer annual conference to warn other website retailers about these thieves.
If you're thinking about using authorize.net, I would strongly advise against it. They're just going to steal from you and give you the runaround when you try to get your money back. It's like they don't even care about their customers. Don't make the same mistake I did!
Unprofessional Customer Service and Hidden Fees: My Experience with Authorize.net
I'm a software engineer with over two decades of experience, and I recently had an unpleasant experience with Authorize.net. I had some questions about a "Returned Payment Fee" that appeared on our statement, as well as some other hidden fees, so I decided to call their customer service line. Unfortunately, the man I spoke with was extremely unprofessional. He spoke to me as if I were a child, using language that was condescending and belittling. He even went so far as to falsely claim that they have over 400,000 customers and that they don't need my business. Needless to say, I was not impressed.
When I asked to speak with a supervisor, things only got worse. The man placed me on hold for over 30 minutes, and every few minutes I could hear someone breathing on the other end of the line. Eventually, the call was disconnected, and I had to call back several times before I was able to reach a supervisor. Even then, it took considerable effort to get the issue resolved. The supervisor did eventually admit that the fee was a mistake and gave me a credit, but it shouldn't have been so difficult to get to that point.
To make matters worse, every time I tried to communicate with Authorize.net via email or their contact form, I received a response up to three days later that was riddled with typos, misspelled words, and invalid characters. It was clear that the responses were either being answered overseas or via an automated system, which only added to my frustration.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Authorize.net to anyone. It seems that they cater primarily to very small businesses and make a large percentage of their revenue from hidden fees, setup fees, and penalties. If you're looking for a new gateway processor, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Outdated and Difficult to Navigate: A Review of Authorize.net's Payment System
This website looks like it hasn't been updated in ages. It's really hard to navigate, and they put my business in the wrong category on the customer statements. They said it was coming from Chase/Paymentech, but when I called Chase, they told me it was actually coming from Authorize.net because it was correct in their system.
If you want to put the name on the card, you have to use two fields for first and last names. You can't just use one full name field like Amazon does. We only use one field internally because we sell to different countries, and it's much easier for our customers who aren't in the U.S.
Their customer service is terrible too. I was trying to enable the PayPal option, but it kept giving me an error. I opened a case, and they just closed it after two weeks and said they had no idea when it would be fixed. They said they escalated it to an engineer and asked for my login names, but it's been 6 months and it's still not fixed! I even posted about it on their community board, but no one replied. I didn't wait for them and just integrated PayPal directly without Authorize.net, and it works fine.
Their SDK is also really old. It doesn't work with .NET Core. They uploaded a beta release 4 years ago, but it doesn't work anymore, and they never bothered to update it. They said they would support it, but they never updated it or even replied to anyone asking if an update was coming.
I'm thinking about switching to Stripe or another service that's more modern and easier to use.

They sent me a letter indicating that I am a member of something I know I didn’t apply for then they’re telling me I got a 15 day trial and after that day I will be paying $23.87 on a monthly basis cancel any time why should I cancel something? I’ve never establish and I’m not sure if there’s any information with these people who are they can mess with my bank account but I’m just wondering who are these people and how do they get your information.
Hello I noticed charge on my bank account 23.87 I don't remember signing up for can you please cancel
Merchant account/ billing gateway
I created an Auth.net account a month ago. Auth.net never provided the requested service. I attempted to close my account 4 times but was not successful. Auth.net withdraws funds from my bank account without providing any service whatsoever. I have never even logged into my account.
I have been in touch with my attorney about Auth.net and they are more than willing to create a Class Action Law Suit against Authorize.net. If anyone is interested in joining a class action lawsuit against Auth.net, please contact me via this thread. I will also continue to monitor this thread for interests.
Thank God Chase Bank caught your thieving behind. I never authorized a 99.95 removal from my account. I need to figure out how your unscrupulous organization got ahold my account
Avoid
Bad. Nothing else to say. I didn't even start working with them but was charged anyway.
I thought that at first, I would have to activate my profile and only then they would start billing me. But as it turned out, they don't even need any reason for doing that, so be very careful when providing your credit card information. They just use it when they want without telling you.
Of course, I requested a refund and they even agreed, but what's the point of this if it's been 2 weeks and there's still no money? Useless
don't use them
They are very aggressive.
They disabled my account because I didn't change the password on time, that's why when I was about to use their service it turned out that it was impossible because all of my money was unavailable.
I called them numerous time and I wish it was useful because the lines were always busy and no one picked up the phone, which is very very sad. Why did they find a person who monitors the system that disables accounts, but couldn't find someone who would work with the customers?
do not do business with them
Be careful before starting using them. They are very sneaky and are glad to cheat you.
They have lots of additional and hidden fees, so your total monthly payment may be different from the expected one.
They charge you without any notification, without explanations. For something you never requested. If you complain them about it, they will only blame you and hang up on you.
Beware, buyers.
They continued to take money from me, but the account must be closed
I was registered on the website www.authorize.net. After I decided to stop my e-commerce, these ### should close my account, but these jerks didn’t do it. I had no idea that my account was still opened and they continued to take money from me. I noticed it only several days ago and no idea how to stop these bogus charges, ‘coz no one replied to my emails. Please, help me to stop this scam.
Authorize.net and its affiliate companies are horrible
Authorize.net and its affiliate companies are horrible. $99 fee just to see if your 'eligible' for their services. No particular advantage on rates VS paypal when looking at all the fees.
Sales/Support is awful, they disconnect you when trying to transfer from one department to another, and you on hold in the middle of your call several times in a few minutes! It's the strangest phone system, I've ever heard.
I never used the service once, and I yet was billed. Never even logged into the control panel even once. When you create an account, you get other companies that handle part of service. It's a mess. I thought I was waiting for approval for weeks when the sub company was requesting more financial information, even though my 'gateway' account was approved. Now of course you can get a refund because you've exceed the 48 hour mark. I was told my account was approved but locked. Meaning that I couldn't withdraw anything from it till I supplied the paperwork, but I could only put money into it.
Even though you've signed up with one company you've got to track down the scraps of your account that are located else where. They continue to bill you, but pretend not to know about the sub accounts with other vendors. I had to ask over and over to cancel my merchant account. At least six times before the sales person could give me information on it.
When is the last time you bough a car, but the lug nuts were from a different company and that company had separate billing? And because you didn't ask for a refund on the lug nuts they wouldn't let you return the car? That's the kind of service you get with Authorize.net.
In my opinion their signup process is a nice little scam. Who else wouldn't offer a refund to you if you didn't use the product, and the account was locked so you couldn't withdraw any money from it.
I've had a paypal account for years and never any any issues like this. I can only imagine what kind of hell those people have had that trust them to manage their online sales.
They steal from you and their support is a joke
I cannot believe the nonprofessional behavior of this company. They steal from you and their support is a joke. You write to support.authorize.net and no matter what you say, no matter what your issue is--they copy and paste about "how concerned they are and they understand" and tell you to call in. What is the point of this support email? I had to threaten harassment if they didn't stop sending me those copy and paste emails!
That aside---they over charged me over $200. They had TWO accounts set up for me and were billing them both! Then will not credit me back. Tried the support.authorize.net first--again told me to call in. So, I called in—they said they would investigate and get back to me. What did they do? Sent me one of those copy and paste emails denying my claim!
They verified and acknowledged there had been two accounts set up and they STILL won't credit me back. I'm going back to dispute charges, will be notifying other website retailers at the Internet Retailer annual conference, and posting about these thieves everywhere possible.
If you operate with this kind of unscrupulous conduct as authorize.net does, the word WILL get out.
They are like talking to a door knob----that steals from you!
Unethical practices
Authorize.net operates with unethical practices. I could not load their product to my website and they started billing me without clear communication. Their website is not user friendly. Their fees are not communicated very well, if they were I would not have been so surprised when a debit to my brand new business checking account hit. I was charged for the insuf. funds by them and my bank. a 10.00 charged cost me 58.00. I had not even gone live with their product before I was charged. I had started to fill out the set-up pages and then stopped, according to their unethical practices they consider that active. I did not have their seal loaded to my website like it said would happen yet they can charge me.
Stay away from them
This poor excuse of a merchant company “Authorize.net” put a hold on my transactions-deposits because they said I was over my limit. My company takes in over 1 million annually and “Authorize.net” held all my deposits over $1, 300 for 30-days. How am I suppose to pay my suppliers and my workers for the products we already shipped! “Authorize.net” almost put me out of business.
Since then we acquired a real merchant account with our bank direct. We now have a merchant machine on our desk direct to our bank.
We will never use an internet merchant account again, and we suggest you don’t ether.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This purchase showed up on my account in which I don’t recognize nor did I authorize please remove the 3.99 from my account
This company is a scam, flat out. It took 3 weeks, 3 faxes and hours on the phone to close our account and they still charged us a month after the account was closed.
I telephoned CyberSource Australia to voice this complaint. I was told someone would ring me back, but they didn’t.
On the 29th October we opened two Payment Gateway accounts with Authorize.Net
On the 3rd December, we provided Authorize.Net with our Internet Merchant Facility Account Details.
On the 5th December, we launched our USA website.
It is now the 13th December and we are still unable to process credit card payments.
In the 8 days that our website has been live, we have suffered the most appalling customer service.
We have had many promises that people would get back to us, and they do not.
We have been given many excuses and reasons why Authorize.Net is unable to get our facility working.
However, to date, Authorize.Net has been unable to get the gateway to work.
We have dealt with many unhelpful people.
We asked the sales representative three times to provide us with the details of the most senior person in charge of your Australian operation, each time we were ignored.
This exercise has been extremely costly to us. We have lost sales and our online reputation is now damaged, because Authorize.Net is unable to get out payment gateway to work.
This letter of complaint was emailed to Cyber Source and ignored!
To help you out Tim Lin, you can check the ownership of the two IP numbers you cited: 208.57.144.25 is in the range as follows:
NetRange: 208.57.0.0 - 208.57.255.255 belongs to MPOWER COMMUNICATIONS CORP., 175 Sully's Trail, Suite 350, Pittsford, New York, 14534, US
The other IP you cited, 10.1.186.51 is hidden behind a shield at iana.org which anyone can hire to keep their ownership secret. You may want to tell your attorney, and he or she can subpoena the records and find the real owner.
Lastly, if you don't have legal counsel, you can get very inexpensive counsel with Legal Shield (I've no connection with them) you will find by using the Bing.com search engine and whatever state and city you're in.
Hope this help you. Companies that abuse their customers and then refuse to talk with you should be pursued IMO. Good luck.
Stay away from Authorize. Net at all costs! Terrible Customer Service!
Authorize.net double charges our customers without admitting their mistake. Several of our customers got charged again by Authorize.net two weeks after the original charges were processed. We only have one on-site accountant to manually input credit card information when it comes to charge customer’s credit card; however, Authorize.net keeps accusing us for having two accountant submitting charges at the same time. Their customer service is very awful or virtually non-existed. Below are the brief conversation logs with Authorize.net:
5 May 2011
When we first contacted their customer service representative, named Jessie, we were told that Authorize.net will never and ever initiate a duplicate charge without its customer enrolls in the payment reoccurrence program. We never enrolled in payment reoccurrence program in the past. In addition, our own investigation indicated that the duplicate charges were not the errors caused by our own employees.
6 May 2011
The next day we contacted Authorize.net again in seeking for an explanation. The call was handled by a person named Gunner. We requested to speak to his manager or supervisor, but were rejected. We told him we have had several customers who got duplicate charges by Authorize.net, but he was only willing to take one set of duplicate charges. We wanted to give him more information about other duplicate charges, but he refuses to take them. A ticket number ([protected]) was issued by Authorize.net as the result of this conversation.
9 May 2011
Monday, 9 May 2011, customers have kept calling us and questioned the pending duplicate charges. We called again and were helped by someone named Brandon M. At the end of the conversation, we were told that both the original and the duplicate charges came from the same IP address: 10.1.186.51. However, we did our own research and found that the IP address given is inconsistent with the IP address we use. IP address stating with 10 indicates that the address belongs to a private network. Authorize.net has been telling us that the case has been escalated for the review of its management. They still did not have a conclusive answer toward this incident.
10 May 2011
Called Authorize.net again and spoke to their supervisor, named Ben D. He kept insisting that the duplicate charges were caused by two accountants submitting payments at the same time. This time, their supervisor said the charges came from 208.57.144.25, which is the different IP address from the address they told us yesterday. Ben mentioned that 10.1.186.51 was authorize.net IP address, but had no idea why this IP address was given to us yesterday. However, based on our record, the duplicate charges are submitted at least one credit card information every second. In some cases, the two credit card numbers were submitted instantaneously. In other words, this is not likely to be submitted by a human being since the average processing time to input credit card numbers takes about 45 seconds or longer. We have urged Authorize.net to get back to us with a solution before 5:00pm PST or we will file a lawsuit against the company if no results are given before deadline.
To Authorize.net Management:
The duplicate charges made by Authorize.net without our consent are illegitimate and have severely damaged our company’s business reputation. We do not mean to leave this negative feedback online; however, we have no choice. We have been using your service over three years and we know how to use your virtual terminal when it comes to charge customer’s credit card. Your customer service representatives have failed to address this critical issue in a timely manner, talked to us with a terrible attitude, refused to take immediate action for further investigation, and accused us of submitting duplicate charges. We hope the management of Authorize.net will call its own customer service number at [protected] and get a feeling from its unhelpful customer representatives. We hope for those who have viewed this message to think twice if they decide to use Authorize.net as their payment processor.
Our company has saved both regular and irregular transactions processed by Authorize.net. Any person who has questions about details of this incident can email us at: chantinglin@hotmail.com
Tim Lin
We've also had a horrible experience with the Authorize.Net support. There is simply NO HUMAN AVAILABLE on the other side. And they charged an unknown fee on our bank account even before we've submitted our application! Avoid at all cost, because they will not respond to your complaints when you have any issue.
