I will attempt to leave emotion out of this. Step-Father passsed away this past weekend and I dont wanna deflect that on anyone else. Here are the facts. I am the only policy holder on this account. I noted this morning my payment to bristol west was nearly 3 times my normal payment. The only correspondence I have had with Bristol West was signing and submitting my contract on August 24, 2024. Prior to that I have not been contacted at all and I can prove this with my call and email history. When calling about billing they did not have my phone number or email even in their system until I had provided it again when i called this morning. Any correspondence was not with me obviously due to the agent failing to add this contact info to me account. You will also note that I am the only person on this policy and you have nothing authorizing anyone to make decisions on my behalf which violates what is stated in my contract regarding privacy. Even this morning when I called this it states it is a a recorded call your customer service stated on the recorded call that they did not have any of the correct contact information despite having provided it again on August 22, 2024 when I had the contract emailed to be signed which I immediately did. I dont much care who they have emailed or called but I know it definetly aint me as reflected on my phone or email usage. Furthermore the contract posted on August 5, 2024 shows a payment schedule for payments starting in July shows nothing other than payments being the amounts of $83.17 to $93.03 through December. Despite this you took $289 out of my account for August. Again we know there was no contact with me due to not having any contact info listed for me as stated by customer service this morning. I am on full disability with a fixed income so an extra $200 is crippling for me unless someone wants to go pay for prescriptions for me. This needs to be corrected immediately and your policy of releasing inform needs to be explained to customer service. They did call my mother and stepfather but again I am the only person on this policy and never authorized anyone to share my information. If this is not corrected and the extra $200 refunded to my bank account then I will pursue the failure of Farmers Insurace and Bristol West to abide by thier own privacy policy violating the contract submitted on August 24, 2024 with Briston West showing it to be posted on August 5, 2024.

Claimed loss: Lost $289 due to your customer service failures.

Desired outcome: The over charge of my account needs to be returned

You’ve laid out the facts clearly, and Bristol West Insurance needs to step up. Charging you nearly three times your normal payment without any proper contact or authorization is unacceptable, especially when they can’t even find your contact information in their system. It sounds like they’ve got some serious explaining to do regarding their privacy practices and billing procedures. If they don’t resolve this quickly and refund that extra $200, they might find themselves facing more than just a dissatisfied customer.

Thank you for the support by commenting. There is no doubt they will need to be accountable with everything they have said being supported by transcripts of every conversation. I will submit a formal complaint with the Department of Insurance and Financial Services. They monitor, regulate, and investigate the insurance companies for this exact reason.
