Scam
Purchased home waranty in May 2010, after reviewing their site.
Looked good on paper. WRONG . A friend used their service and had
a/c problems. They would not honor the verbal contract. Read the fine print
on the written contract. Very different from smooth verbal guarantees.
After all these problems, I decided to cancel my policy. After two months
of trying to contact them I finally got a verbal cancellation. They said would
refund full amount for contract. One month later still no refund. Do not make
the same mistake. These guys should be avoided and doing jail time.
The company is not registered for business in Florida or NC. Hope this helps you.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
After seeing all the complaints, I also decided to cancell my two policies with Capital Home Shields which I bought in August 2010. I sent them several emails, since ther phone lines were "down with technical diffiulties" I then contacted Allied Wallet at who billed and charged my credit card. After talking to a supervisor and a followup call they promised a refund with in 7 to 10 days. I wasnt holding my breath becuase I thought it was all a scam but 6 dasy later i got my refund! Pass this on too anyone else who has been scammed byCapital Home shields. Have them contact Allied Wallet at 1.888.255.1137
I agree. this is a big scam. their phone lines are down for more than 4 weeks now. they do not respond to the warranty repairs. this company is fraud and should be banned from operation.
LIARS, SCAMMERS
I contacted this company a few weeks ago and was talking to a gentleman, he said they were in business for about 15 years. I had a warranty in place with AHS for the past 7 years, and have many friends with warranties as well. I had never heard of this company. Friendly talking salesperson, everything sounded GREAT! Including the price.
I went online today to purchase the warranty and get another quote to go over everything once more, and decided to do a bit more research on the company. I came across a nationwide news video! Seems like they are getting investigated for fraud from many different states, and they are a brand new company according to the BBB, only around since July 2010:

I first told you about Tim Cook last summer. He paid $200 for a home warranty with a company called Capital Home Shield.
"They gave me a good price. Said they were a new company and we're breaking into this market. Give us a chance, " said Tim.
Problem is, the company refused to approve the repairs to his cooktop stove until we got involved. At the time, he was pleased.
But guess who was watching the story? Washington state Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler. His office opened an investigation into Capital Home Shield.
"In the case of this particular warranty company, they were not authorized to do business in the State of Washington, " said Kreidler.
Kreidler's office is sending a cease and desist letter to the company. Capital Home Shield can either get registered or get out of Washington.
"Our investigation is ongoing at this point, but every indication is this is a problem company and we clearly want to make sure they are not writing any business in the State of Washington, " said Kreidler.
The company also sold Cook a policy for a home in Arizona. The company isn't registered there, either. Based on our report and the work of Kreidler's office, even more states are now looking into Capital Home Shield.
"If they don't want to do business the right way, they should stop, " said Tim. He would be happy about the actions taken against the company, but his washing machine just quit. This time, the company is making sure it gets fixed. In fact, it may be the last claim they ever approve in our state.
An executive from the company says he will give refunds to anyone in the state who wants one. If you have a policy with Capital Home Shield, please contact the Insurance Commissioner's Office and me.
My dishwasher went out about two months ago. Capital Home Shield authorized a repair, and the tech who came out replaced the motor but the machine still won't work. I have been unable to contact anyone from CHS for the past MONTH - phones not answered, busy signals, messages not returned, etc. I live in Texas. If anyone has any info on what I could do now I'd appreciate it as I'm at a loss - no pun intended.
how do i get my refund? i paid 2 years in advance and now they do not even pick up phone.
I have now been with capital home shield for 4 years now and i must say iv experienced nothing but great service! Just replaced my 9 year old water heater and im thrilled.
Special dispatching device is telephone number to non-forwarding foreign contract anserwing people North Miami Beach, Florida
Capital Home Shield sales people pitch special device which is supposed to get a speedy repairman to fix a device. No device forthcoming, period!
Contact via telephone goes to contract answering people that do not have any relay source available to have the phone call forwarded to a Capital Home
Shield supervisor!
They say hundreds of repairmen are available to them in Amarillo, Texas when a customer is shopping but after buying into the ripoff, none can be found when a claim is filed!
The Miami BBB states, "This business is not a BBB Accredited Business."
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! The above complaints mirror mine to the tee! When I was able to get through and leave a message...I never got a returned phone call. Never a reply to an email...TOTAL SCAM. I finally went to my Chase Credit card and they got a refund for the entire amount.
RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
I have same experiences! I had 2 of my house under them and when my AC broke, it took almost 3 weeks to talk to "non answering service" or simply getting busy signals and when they finally came out, they refuse to pay the repairs. DO NOT USE THEM!

Capital Home Shield. Capital Home Shield Scam. This company does not fulfill their contract. Their call extensions all forward to the same person who offers to call you back and never does. I have called religiously over the past month and they have never called me back. There appears to be one manager working and he offers your money back but never offers to fulfil the contract. Contract has many ambiguous terms and they place claims under gray "not covered" items. Company may or may not be foreign. Money is transacted in a foreign bank prior to receiving contract. AVOID This is a scam Capital Home Shield is a scam. Capital Home Shield does not honor their legal obligations and are almost impossible to locate.
