Doubled Charged on a Car Rental

I rented a car from your site and was charged by RentalCars.com $202.06 for the initial rental with a balance of $81.47 at the time of pick up. I picked up the vehicle with the same reservation ID that you provided (K84142155B4).
After I dropped off the vehicle I received a receipt from Thrifty Car Rental for $226.61.
But when I checked my credit card statement I was charged twice. Once by CarRentals.com for $202.06 and Thrifty Car Rental for $226.61.

Trouble with refund
Reserved a car from Will Rogers Airport. Tried to call them several times to confirm but got no answer. When we arrived to pick up the car they refused to let us have it due to the fact we had no major credit card. (Even though the car had already been paid for in advance and the debit card had more than enough funds for the deposit). We tried to get a refund but were told to contact carrentals.com. Have had a very hard time contacting this company. It seems no one has any contact information on them. It would have been helpful if we had been informed that you must have a credit card to rent from the airport. That is something that should be posted on the reservation sight. Not sure what to do to get a refund. I am very dissatisfied with both companies.
Desired outcome: Hope to get a full refund since the mistake was due to the lack of information on the site.

No refund
I booked a car through Carrentals.com and my flight was cancelled on the day of my trip. I immediately tried to call but of course no real person picked up. So I called Fox car rentals and they said I had to call Carrentals.com. I emailed both companies explaining that I would not be arriving on my pickup date, but was still billed for the car -$680- even though I wasn't able to pick it up.
I booked a car again with Fox, after 4 days of flight delays (thank you United), You would think that I could have gotten a partial refund at least, or maybe credit. Carrentals itinery # [protected], transaction date 5/16/23.
Desired outcome: Please refund the first booking or provide credit.

Terrible experience. NEVER use these guys !
After getting a confirmation # we went to pick up the car in Munich only to find out that CarRental.com have canceled the rental for "suspected fraud" reason. This is nonsense. My credit card payment was verified on-line at the time of purchase. Instead of getting a car for a confirmed reservation for 2 weeks for unlimited mileage for ± $700, we had to pay over $5,000 for that same deal as there was no other options and we would have loose all hotel bookings in Europe if we did not start traveling that night.

I booked online a car on the Website. At pick-up, I was surprised to see the price was much higher then expected. At first I didn't understand, and checked the confirmation email. It's only then that I realised there were 2 contradictory prices they wrote I would have to pay at pick-up. One said 738 $, the other said 989 $ CAD.
When I booked it said 738 $.
Never during the booking process it said that prices were in US dollars. I'm based in Canada, and rented a car in a Canadian Location!
Carrentals.com is a property of Expedia. I've booked with Expedia in the past and prices were always in CAD.
The only place that said prices were in US dollars was at the final step of the payment process, in small characters buried in many other informations. And then in the confirmation, there was a small mention, also not clear and buried in other informations.
This is completely unacceptable! It's almost a scam.

I rented a car through t carrentals.com on a Thursday for pick up on Friday at Payless car rental at Dallas Love Field Airport. I paid 279.00 for 5 days in advance. My flight was late and I tried to reach them before I got in the plane. I was told their system was down and to send an email, which I did. I stayed the issue and then called when I arrived at the airport at 2pm. I was told my reservation had been cancelled and that they would not refund any of my money at all! They said they required 48 hour notice of cancellation even though I had just made the reservation 12 hours before. NOWHERE DID THEIR SITE CLEARLY STATE THAT MY PURCHASE WAS FINAL AND THERE WOULD BE NO EXCEPTIONS! They expect me to be out $300 for a car I never picked up. Fraudulent, criminal, and according to their reviews, incredibly common. I’ve disputed the transaction with my bank in hopes of getting my money back. Otherwise I will do whatever I have to in order to get my money back.

I will never used them or expedia to rent a car again, Miss information that cost me lot more at the counter and ended up with a car in a lower category.
I rented a Dodge Charger with NU car rental ( never again) and when I got there to pickup the car , they informed me, they do not rent this car to local AZ residents, I have a choice of minivan or a nissan sentra.
They also informed me that there will be a mandatory insurance charge and a $500 dollars charge for deposits.
They said I should have been informed by the 3rd party company (carrentals.com) about all these issues.
Desired outcome: they should refund my money and charge me for a economy car.

Rental Car Denial - Refund Refused
On January 1, 2023 I paid in full upfront $177 for a car rental from Routes through carrentals.com. When I arrived at the carrental location was told that they do not rent to Florida drivers. This was not stated in the rental policy on carrentals.com. Routes has stated that the refund has to be returned from carrentals.com because the car was not rented so funds were never given to them.
Carrentals.com has stated that Routes is honoring the cancellation policy and will not return the funds. This is unacceptable and a I want my money returned since I was unable to rent the car.

On July 28 in Eugene Oregon I attempted to pick up a car I had rented with Budget via Car Rentals Com. I had paid the full price way in advance, but was told I needed to pay a 250 dollar deposit. I agreed to do this, but my European (French) credit card did not support this American-style deposit. I instructed Budget simply to charge the 250 to a fee, which they refused to do. The result is that I lost the whole 800 dollars I had paid in advance. I e-mailed Car Rentals.Com in the UK that I would like the half of the money I was still entitled to refunded at that point. They insisted that I telephone them, but as I had an American SIM card in my phone that only worked in the US, I could not do that, which I told them. I also possessed a French SIM card, but that did not work on an American network. I said this several times by email, but Car Rentals refused to do anything. It cannot possibly be legal in any country (including the UK) to arbitrarily demand that someone makes a request for a legitimate (half) refund by telephone as opposed to by email.
Desired outcome: Receive half of my money back, which the company owes, given that I never received my car.

I rented a car online and when Inreached the airport and called to see where to pick up my car I was told someone was
on the way to pick me up . They picked my family and myself up and drove us 8 miles into a small office in a strip mall and proceeded to demand $12 a day for tolls which I argued that I would just pay tolls
as I came to them . They insisted so I have in to that after some
complaining . The. they tried to charge me a $1500 deposit for insurance , even after I emailed them the declaration page of my policy showing I was fully covered . This all took about 45 minutes and our other family members who all arrived with us at the same time had rented cars and were at our air b and b while we were being hassled . At that point , i demanded that they take us back to the airport and on the way I rented a car from alamo . When we arrived at alamo , I was in a car and on our way in less than 3 minutes with no extra deposits required .
I was denied a refund by cars.com for the amount i had paid for the rental so I intent to pursue legal action .
Desired outcome: Full refund and have this business prosecuted for fraud .
Carrentals.com and priceless car rental scam
When we arrived at Priceless Rental Car site we were told that we would have to pay for a list of items as the car was a ‘Fleet Car’. Our amount paid was $145.77 with $174.52 due at car pick up.
We were informed, since a fleet car, we would have to buy their mandatory insurance at $30 per day; we could not use ours. Also informed we had to use their mandatory transponder fee at $19 per day; we could not use ours. We did not yet get to the gas or senior fees that were to come.
Now our basic amount due was changed from $174.52 to $384.62. The additional fees were license fees, cleaning, location, vehicle license, airport facility, airport access, and state surcharge. The charges now were much higher than on our statement.
The CSR stated that we could cancel our reservation if we desire since we felt the costs were unfair. So we did, and they returned us back to the airport.
We cancelled at the car site because we were being greatly overcharged and want a full refund. I was not going to spend $1000 for a one week car rental.
When I called back for my deposit on July 7, 2022, I was informed that Robert, CSR, that had credited back my amount at their auto site and informed me I would have to call CarRental.com at [protected] for the deposit amount.
The email response from carrental.com was cancelations or modifications are not allowed as per policy.
We were cancelling due to a gross change in a total rental cost from about $400 to $1000 per week. This is absurd and should not be allowed to occur.

I used Carrentals.com money was taken out of my account the day before I was due to pick up the car. When I arrived at the car rental place(Priceless) I was charged an extra $654.00 I was quoted $289.00 I immediately contacted customer service. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting for a resolution. I've been contacting Carrentals.com and I'm getting a run around.

I rented a car for my son through car rentals.com for a 10/28/21-11/01/21 time period pickup at San Jose, CA airport. They refused to release the car because he didn't have a major credit card and only a debit/credit card. They refused to take a credit card over the phone. The car rental had been completely paid for at that point. They refused to give a refund or a credit for a future rental.

I booked a car rental with my debit card through car rentals.com. They accepted my debit card as payment for an 11 day rental in Toronto Canada.
The car rental company did not accept my debit card for security deposit and cancelled my reservation, leaving me stranded.
I contacted several people within the company and have only been reffered back to the policy that the rental company would not accept a debit card as security, but why did they accept my debit card payment in full for the rental. I should have been provided full refund and will continue to try to obtain refund of 681.00. This is a ridiculous situation. If debit is not accepted they should have never used the card to pay for the rental in full!

Terrible service and even worse excuses. I have spoken with three different representatives with no luck. Here is what happened. I booked through car rentals and even paid the extra $50.00 insurance coverage. I show up to car rental place and they said they they don't work with my insurance company. Which is State Farm! A national company. They didn't offer any way for me to complete renting the van. They said that I wouldn't be allowed to get the car. They then said they were cancelling and that I would have to wait outside for their shuttle To take me back to the airport! Mind you during this time my wife was stuck at the airport with three young kids. After "their" investigation car rentals said that next car (the shady car rental) place offered me extra insurance on top on the $50 through car rentals and on top of my own but I declined which conveniently allows car rental to keep the $250 and most likely share some with next car. I will never book through this company and which I would've looked at reviews. I will also use big time car rental brands!
