Misleading Refund Policy: My Experience with GreenMotion Car Rental
I recently used GreenMotion's website to book a car for a weekend trip. I paid 96 pounds for three days with full insurance. However, when I arrived at the Birmingham Airport branch to collect the car, there was a weather warning. I sent an email to inquire about the possibility of a refund for the first day (Friday) if I collected the car on Saturday. Despite trying to call them a few times, I received no answer. So, I decided to collect the car on Friday evening.
When I presented my booking, I was told that my entire booking had been canceled and processed for a refund as requested. I was surprised because I had only inquired about the refund, and it was only for one day. I was never notified or expected to be refunded. The advisor, Katie, and the store manager, Jordan, assured me that the 96 pounds would be 100% refunded to my account within 14 days.
Since I needed the car, I made a new booking for two days (Saturday and Sunday). I asked for a similar price and car to my first booking, but with an additional driver this time. They upgraded the car at no extra charge and quoted me 125 pounds with full insurance. I took the car, used it, and returned it with no issues.
However, after two weeks, I checked my statement and found that there was no refund for my first booking. I called customer service for a follow-up, but they promised to get back to me and never did. I emailed customer service, but it took a series of calls and emails to get a response. They told me that there was nothing to be refunded as the money from my first online booking (96 pounds) was used on my second booking made in-store. I was shocked because that was not what the store manager and advisor had agreed upon. Customer service said that they could not do anything about what had been said in-store. All they could see in their system was that the money from the first booking was used in the second, and as the second booking was paid in-store using chip and pin method, it automatically validated the sale and their terms and conditions. When I checked the rental agreement, they had sneakily added the first booking voucher onto my second booking and made me pay an extra 125 pounds. So, in total, I paid 221 pounds for two days. It was unbelievable, and I will never use them again.
I felt completely misguided and misled by the store manager, Jordan, and the advisor, Katie. It was a frustrating experience, and I would not recommend GreenMotion to anyone.
Disappointing Experience with Green Motion Car Hire in Croatia: A Warning to Other Travelers
Me and my family went on a holiday to Croatia in August and we had booked a nine-seater vehicle through Green Motion for the second week of our vacation. We were supposed to collect the car from Dubrovnik Airport at 9:00 AM, and I had provided my mobile phone number to bookinggroup.com, the booking agent for Green Motion. They sent me a car hire voucher showing that the car would be provided by Green Motion Care Hire, whose opening hours at Dubrovnik Airport were from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
However, we got delayed, and we reached the airport around 10:30 AM. We couldn't find the car hire desk for Green Motion, so we walked to the car hire site on the edge of the airport grounds, but we still couldn't find Green Motion car hire at that site. I called Green Motion using the number provided on the car hire voucher at around 10:40 AM, and they told me that their driver had delivered the car to the airport at 9:00 AM but had left with the car as I had not arrived at the scheduled time, and they had not been provided with my mobile phone number. They also said that it was impossible for them to provide me with a car now, and I should make alternative plans, but I could expect a full refund.
It was very frustrating to find an alternative car, and we could only find a seven-seater, which was a considerable inconvenience for our large group. We also had to pay EUR500 more than the car we had booked and fully paid for in advance. We were never told that we had to be at the airport at 9:00 AM sharp, and we were expecting the more normal situation where you collect the car from the car hire desk at the airport and from a car hire operator who has a permanent base at the airport. This was also what appeared to be the case based on the car hire voucher that was provided.
I have tried to contact Green Motion several times, but they are impossible to reach by phone. They have replied to some of my earlier emails, saying that I should seek a refund from bookinggroup.com. However, bookinggroup.com has confirmed (via my credit card provider) that they have paid the rental money to Green Motion, and I should seek a refund from them. However, I have not received any reply from Green Motion.
I have now received a refund of EUR660, but I paid a rental fee of EUR773. I have not received any explanation as to why the full rental fee was not refunded. Overall, my experience with Green Motion was very disappointing, and I would not recommend them to anyone.
Disappointing Experience with Green Motion Car Rental Franchise at Heathrow Airport
I recently rented a car from Green Motion's Heathrow branch for a 12-day trip to the UK from August 15th to 26th, 2021. I booked through Priceline, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a stressful and costly mistake. I wish I had read some of the poor consumer reviews of Green Motion Car Rental Franchise before booking.
When I arrived at the Heathrow branch, I had to wait for an hour and a half to receive the car due to their short staffing. This delay caused me to be late for an appointment, which was frustrating. Additionally, the branch does not offer any shuttle service to or from Heathrow Airport, and it is located about a 20-minute bus ride away.
When I returned the car, the attendant charged me ?160 for a very minor scuff mark on one of the wheels. I objected to the charge as no joint walk-through had been performed at the time of delivery. I subsequently wrote a complaint letter to their Customer Service Department, but it was denied. On top of that, the company charged my credit card ?68 for a parking violation of ?60 for being late by 17 minutes. I later found out that it was their Admin fee, and I still had to pay ?60. Fine to ParkingEye. I have contacted my Card Issuer and Visa to dispute both of these false charges.
The company has a notorious reputation for poor service and hidden after-rental charges on flimsy grounds. I have experienced both their poor service and hidden after-rental charges on flimsy grounds. I regret not reading the reviews before renting from them.
In my complaint letter to the Customer Service Department, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the staff's manner of explaining the damage to me. They asked if I had taken photos of the car prior to delivery, which was never requested of me. Markings are done in the walk-through on a piece of paper, and I challenge that these slight marks existed from a previous rental that the staff missed.
Based on the above explanation, the statement on documents signed by me, and the photos taken today, I strongly dispute their claim and will escalate the dispute for resolution with my Credit Card Bank as well as Priceline.
Overall, my experience with Green Motion was disappointing, and I would not recommend them to anyone.
GreenMotion Car Rental in Iceland: A Terrible Experience That Could Have Been Dangerous
GreenMotion car rental company in Iceland is not a good choice for your holiday. My recent experience with them was terrible, and I feel the need to share it with others.
We rented a Jeep from GreenMotion at the airport, and it had a few issues. The door wouldn't close properly, and the fuel cap was broken, but we decided to overlook these minor problems and start our holiday. However, after driving for 100 miles, the front tire burst, causing us to make an emergency stop. It was a traumatic experience, and we were lucky that we didn't get hurt.
When we took the tire off, we noticed that it had very little tread, and it was illegal and dangerous. We also realized that the car had no warning triangle to put on the road, so we had to change the wheel while watching out for oncoming traffic. When we called the company, they told us to go to a garage and get it replaced, and they would pay if it was illegal.
The garage confirmed that the tire was illegal and dangerous, and they also found another tire that was illegal on the car. They replaced both tires and mentioned that the car's tracking was completely wrong. We called the car rental company and asked for a replacement car, but they told us to come back the following day.
The next day, we returned the car, and after much discussion, they found another car for us. However, this car had an alert warning saying it needed a service, and when we asked the rental company about it, they told us that the computer hadn't been reset in the engine management system. We set off, but after a few minutes, we noticed that the tire pressure warning light had come on, so we returned to the rental company. They told us that they had no other cars, so we had to take that car or nothing.
As our holiday was already delayed, we had to accept the car. Later that day, we noticed that one of the tires was deflating, so we went to a garage to inflate it to the correct pressure. We decided to live with the tire deflating and pump it up every day.
When we returned the replacement car at the end of the holiday, we asked to speak to the supervisor. However, her attitude was one of "I don't really care" about our issues, and the fact that we were given two cars that were dangerous and illegal.
We lost a day changing vehicles and missed booked events. However, the real issue we have is that GreenMotion knowingly gave us two vehicles, one of which had illegal tires on it, and both cars were dangerous to drive.
If you decide to use GreenMotion, please check the vehicle thoroughly, and please stay safe.
Terrible Experience with GreenMotion Car Rental in Kos Airport, Greece - Avoid at All Costs!
I recently made a reservation for 8 days at Kos Airport in Greece through rentalcars.com with GreenMotion. Unfortunately, my experience with the company was extremely poor and left me feeling disappointed and frustrated.
Upon arriving at the front desk, we were informed that we could not pay the deposit without a credit card, which we did not have with us. However, we witnessed a British couple before us who were able to use a debit card for the deposit, even though it was against the company's terms and conditions. This made us feel like the man at the front desk was making fun of us.
The man at the desk was extremely rude and unhelpful, refusing to give us a refund for the 127 euros we had paid online and even trying to charge us more for a new car rental because we had complained about his behavior. He was under a legal obligation to offer the new car at a certain price, but instead, he tried to take advantage of us. When we asked for receipts for the two cars we paid for, he told us we would receive them upon returning the car. However, we never received a receipt for the 160 euros and 127 euros we paid.
Before and during the booking process, I tried to call the GreenMotion office in Kos Island multiple times, but the number listed online was not working. This caused a lot of inconvenience and disappointment, and I had to hire an alternative car.
I informed both GreenMotion and rentalcars.com about my experience and requested a refund for at least the first car we paid for but never received. However, both companies refused to help and blamed me for the situation.
Overall, my experience with GreenMotion was terrible, and I would not recommend them to anyone. They are ranked as one of the worst car rental companies for a reason, and their "cheap" prices are not worth the extra fees and charges they will try to add on. The behavior of their staff was completely unacceptable and ruined our vacation. I will never do business with GreenMotion again.
GreenMotion: The Worst Hire Car Company Ever - A Terrible Experience!
GreenMotion is the worst hire car company ever! Recently, I had a terrible experience with them. Due to an air traffic control strike at Bristol airport, most flights were affected and delayed during the day. I had booked a car to pick it up between 8 and 9 pm, but unfortunately, my flight did not land until 10 pm. I tried to contact the office on my arrival, but my call went straight to voicemail. When I arrived at their office, which was a 15-minute walk away, I discovered that they had shut at 9 pm. I had not been informed about their early closing time, and they were completely uncontactable, leaving me stranded after a long journey.
I needed to get to my destination in Taunton, which was an hour's drive away, but I had no car. There was another small office next to the GreenMotion office that was open 24 hours, and the man there had paperwork and car keys for another GreenMotion client who was late, but unfortunately, not for me. At midnight, I managed to catch a bus to Taunton and then took a taxi to get to my destination. I finally arrived at 1.30 am!
The next morning, I contacted the branch and GreenMotion customer services, only to be told that they had cancelled my booking as I was a no-show, despite all flights into Bristol being delayed that day. They had left the office at 9 pm, which was their normal closing time, and were not responsible for my flight arriving late. It was my responsibility to phone them from Spain to tell them my flight was delayed.
I explained that I still needed a car and that I had paid for a week, but I was told that they did not have a car for me and probably wouldn't be giving me a refund either. I was really shocked that I had paid £113 and had no car, no real prospect of one, and no refund. I waited for the branch to contact me to advise me if they had a car that I could have, but I heard nothing. They barely even apologised and obviously couldn't care less about leaving me in the lurch. I thought that after speaking to customer service, I would be offered another car from the branch, but they did absolutely nothing to ensure that that actually happened. Their customer service is non-existent, and they are reading from a standard script with absolutely no leeway. The computer says no!
I ended up having to hire another car from AVIS, who were a breath of fresh air after my terrible experience with GreenMotion. I cannot believe how GreenMotion is still in business. Don't read the Google reviews as they do not reflect the poor reviews on all other sites! Their overall score is 1.1, and I can hardly say I am surprised. I will never use them again and strongly recommend that you don't either! Please read the article about them on The Guardian and also read the reviews on other review sites before you use this company.
Green Motion's Overpriced Repairs and Unfair Charges: My Experience
I rented a car from Green Motion's Manchester Airport branch for a quick three-day trip in January of this year. When I picked up the car, the representative pointed out a scrape on one of the alloy wheels. I quickly checked the car for any other damage and didn't notice anything, so I accepted the car as it was. I made the mistake of not taking detailed photos of every panel of the car. I've rented cars many times before and never had to document anything other than visible damage. I also didn't inspect the car with a fine-tooth comb to find every tiny blemish. I thought I had looked it over well enough, but I was wrong.
When I returned the car, another representative inspected it and pointed out a tiny windscreen chip near the nearside pillar and a small depression near the edge of the roof, just behind the B-pillar. I protested that neither of these occurred while the car was in my possession, but the representative told me not to worry about it. However, a few days later, I received an invoice for ?1205, which was the standard excess, and a copy of their damage matrix. I immediately challenged the invoice because I knew that the dent could be repaired for well under ?100. Another invoice followed with an estimate from their "approved repairer," which reduced the charge to just over ?760, still about ten times the true cost of repair.
I've been in the motor trade and industry for 50 years, so I have a good knowledge of repair methods and costs. Due to the fact that I had no proof that the damage did not occur while I had the car, I accepted that I would have to pay. I offered to have the repair carried out by a qualified and reputable specialist at my expense and their convenience, but this was turned down flat. I also offered to pay a realistic amount of ?100, providing quotations and credentials from the specialists, but this too was turned down. I escalated my concerns to the local and national customer service departments, but I didn't get any help. I then took my concerns to the industry's dispute resolution service, but they couldn't rule in my favor because they "are unable to discuss the repair costs and as Green Motion are entitled to choose their repairing garage as the owner of the vehicle, the BVRLA does not dispute the repair charges."
I feel cheated out of ?760 for damage that I know I am not responsible for, and I can't afford to take legal action against Green Motion. Shortly after this incident, my wife rented a car from a different branch of Green Motion and had issues with them, but they were resolved after some threatening action.
I've learned my lesson and will never rent a car from Green Motion again. They systematically cheat their customers with overpriced repairs and other charges. ALL specialist insurance companies providing car hire excess cover exclude rentals from Green Motion but cover hiring from ALL other UK companies. This tells you everything you need to know about Green Motion.
Terrible Customer Service and Unfair Charges: My Experience with GreenMotion Car Rental
I recently rented a car from GreenMotion at the East Midlands airport branch. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible on the day of collection, with snow and freezing temperatures making it difficult to inspect the car properly. The car was dirty on the outside, which made it hard to spot any damage. GreenMotion explained that their car wash was not operational due to bad weather and frozen pipes.
Despite the weather, I did my best to check the car for any damage. I noticed a warning light showing a tyre pressure fault, which GreenMotion assured me was just a faulty sensor and nothing to worry about. I drove off with the car, and after 15 days of rental, I returned it.
On return, I was told that there was a minor tear on one of the tyres, which I immediately disputed. The tear was very minor and hard to see unless you looked closely. It was likely present when we rented the car on day one, but it could have been missed due to the snowy weather and low profile tyres. GreenMotion insisted that the whole tyre needed replacing and charged us ?300, including a 1-day loss of rental.
My husband and I were extremely unhappy with the charge, as we had not done a lot of mileage on the car in the 15 days we had it. We felt that the rental conditions on the day of initial rental were poor, and this tiny tear could easily have been missed. The person dealing with us was unhelpful and blamed us for the damage.
This was the worst customer service experience we have ever had, and we will never use GreenMotion again. My husband had a pleasant experience with GreenMotion previously, but this rental was a disaster from start to finish. The car we originally wanted was not available, and we were forced to pay an extra ?100 for a premium car that we did not want. When we went to collect the car, it was filthy, the fuel tank was nearly empty, and the tyre pressure warning light was on.
Overall, I strongly discourage anyone from renting a car from GreenMotion. The rental conditions were poor, the customer service was terrible, and we were charged an exorbitant amount for a minor tear on a tyre that was likely already there when we rented the car.
Terrible Experience with Green Motion Manchester Airport: Misleading License Requirements and Bait-and-Switch Tactics
I had a terrible experience with Green Motion (GM) Manchester Airport. I had pre-booked a 28-day hire car through RentalCars.com and arrived on January 31st to pick it up. However, I was unable to get my prepaid hire car because the GM Manchester staff claimed that my driver's license did not meet their requirements. This was surprising to me as I am a US citizen with valid USA-based driver licenses and have used hire cars with major providers in the UK many times during the past 35 years without any problems.
The GM Manchester staff initially stated that nothing could be done, but then changed their position and offered to provide me with the car only if I added comprehensive insurance at a cost of approximately 500 GBP more than my prepaid amount. I recognized this as a bait-and-switch tactic and left the GM Manchester office without my hire car. I had to buy a walk-in rail ticket back to Leeds Rail Station, a bus ticket for travel back to Leeds-Bradford Airport (LBA), and booked and paid a walk-in car hire at a walk-in rate at LBA with Budget/Avis, then returned home. I then cancelled three additional 28-day bookings (also made via RentalCars.com) that I made for GM Manchester hire car because I will not do business with GM Manchester after my experience yesterday.
I checked GM's Terms and Conditions and those Terms and Conditions as printed in "License Requirements" are NOT consistent with what GM Manchester staff did and said yesterday. More specifically, GM's Terms and Conditions under the section "License Requirements" state: "All drivers must have held their driving license for at least 2 years." I have held my driving license(s) for 40+ years since the time I was 18 years old. I showed GM Manchester my (a) Hawaii state driver's license, and (b) my Washington state driver's license. I also had an international driver's license that I carry with me as a back-up (not needed in this case as my state driver's licenses are printed in English).
The GM Manchester staff erroneously interprets the word/phrase about "held" in the aforementioned GM printed requirement as follows: If a customer presents a non-UK (USA state license in this case) driving license and that license has printed on it an initial or renewal date that is less than two years prior to the date of the prepaid car hire, then GM Manchester will not release the prepaid car to the customer and/or will release the prepaid car to the customer only if that customer agrees to add comprehensive insurance coverage. If GM (any location) had a clearly written statement regarding the aforementioned license requirement(s), then GM could avoid these situations.
I have attached three relevant documents, including (a) booking document per RentalCars.com, (b) confirmation e-mail dated Jan. 7,2020, and (c) GM's Terms & Conditions document that I entitled "Misleading Wording See License Requirements re word HELD."
I have requested that GM refund my prepaid booking (224.95 GBP) that I paid via RentalCars.com and contact RentalCars.com to inform them of my experience with GM Manchester yesterday and ensure that I get back my 224.95 payment. I have also asked GM to refund me for my rail and bus transportation costs (approximately 67 GBP) in getting to Manchester Green Motion's office from Leeds Airport. I will provide documents to verify those exact costs if and when GM agrees to pay for my transportation costs. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Green Motion and will not be doing business with them again.
Beware of Green Motion Car Rental: Our Experience in Iceland
Green Motion is a car rental company that you should be cautious of. When planning a trip to Spain and Iceland, we debated whether or not to pay for insurance on the rental car. We contacted our Citi Visa "Costco" card customer service and they sent us an email stating that we had US$50,000 coverage on rentals in Spain and Iceland when we use their card. They advised us to decline all coverage offered through the rental company, but even if they required that we pay for their minimal coverage, they would deal directly with them in the event of any incident.
Our rental in Spain through Hertz was uneventful, but our experience with Green Motion in Iceland was not. We arrived at KEF / Reykjavik, Iceland early on July 31, and the shuttle to the Green Motion location went well. The paperwork to get our rental car was also smooth, but they did pitch their insurance options to us. We declined all of their insurance options, but we were required to put a ISK 290,000 (US$2,750) deposit on my credit card and cautioned that any damage to the car would be taken from the deposit. We were also asked to thoroughly inspect the car and add any existing damage to the carbon copy sheet, bring it back in to the counter, sign and retain the carbon copy. It was 12:30am when we inspected the vehicle, and we noted two additional minor dings. The representative also recommended that in the morning during daylight, we take pictures all around the vehicle. That was a first for us, but we took the 360-degree photos.
When we returned the car on Thursday, August 3rd, at about 3:00pm, the representative took an inordinately long time inspecting the vehicle. Upon completion, he informed me that there was new damage. We went out and looked at it together, a slight ding (1.5" x 1/16" deep) on the passenger side about in the middle of the car right beneath the door. I stated that I really didn't think I caused it and called my wife out to join us and pull up the photos. When she did, we all agreed the damage was apparent in our photos. Then the representative said that the photos were not taken in their parking lot and that the damage could have occurred prior to the time of the photos while the car was in our possession. I replied that it was dark when we got the car and that we were advised by his co-worker to take the photos the next day when it was light. He then went off saying no one in Green Motion would give us those instructions and that anything could happen from the time the car left their lot and when we took our pictures. I again reiterated what his co-worker recommended. My wife then said that this feels like a scam/rip-off and our review of this experience will not be a good one.
We then returned to the office, and he continued to rant on about anything that could have occurred prior to the photos and that no one would have told me to take the photos after driving the car off their lot. THEN he said he didn't like the idea of us giving them a bad review and if we were going to do that, he might as well charge us for the damage. He looked at me and said, "you know I could" in an aggressive, intimidating manner.
At that point, I said I don't want to discuss the matter any further, wrap up the paperwork, we have a plane to catch. I was there with my wife and two of our grandchildren, 10 and 12, for more than 40 minutes, and I was their only customer at the time. He did a few more keystrokes and looked up and said, "just catch the next van." I asked if I was going to be given any type of receipt, and he said, "do you want one?" I replied yes. He then gave me a receipt stating there was no new damage to the car.
After being called a liar repeated times and being threatened, we DO NOT recommend doing business with Green Motion. Be sure to take pictures and protect yourself.

I was forced to purchase insurance from them even though I had purchased insurance from Priceline. They charged $140. Since then, I’ve been charged $1450…. All of this after the rental was purchased on priceline. I called to get some answers and was told to call back at 11 when the manager will be there. I did , no answer
I don’t know what I’m being charged for . They won’t talk or send an email. This is fraud. I will file a complaint in the DA’s office.
Desired outcome: An apology and money back. I would appreciate a prompt response
Green Motion Car Rental in Tampa, FL
I had a flight, hotel and car rental booked through Priceline. I unfurnished got Green Motion who took more than an hour and a half for their shuttle to occur me up. I watched people get charged outrageous fees. 1000.00 for going out of state, 20000.00 for insurance etc.. I got my car with somewhat less hassle. I had to pay and additional 126.00 got car insurance, $250 security hold and then I returned it a couple hours late and paid 65.00 for an extra day. This all in all wasn't the problem. When I returned it, they said everything was fine, released the 250.00 and then led than 24 hours later, before I got home, they charged my card an additional 489.00 for a windshield that was already cracked when I picked it up. This is fraud. They now won't answer me, I'm overdrawn on my account now. I did not damage the car, had insurance they charged me for, was cleared to leave. I have the signed paperwork. There is complaint after complaint on the BBB and other sites that they do this continuously. They need shut down
Desired outcome: My money back and hopefully someone takes this on as a class action lawsuit

Terrible Experience with Green Motion: Cancelled Booking and No Refund
I gotta say, my experience with Green Motion was not great. I booked a rental car from Bologna airport, but my flight got changed by Easyjet and we ended up arriving in the early afternoon instead of the morning like we had planned. When we got to the rental car place, they told us that they had cancelled our booking and rented the car out to someone else. Can you believe that? And to make matters worse, they wouldn't give us a full refund for the rental fee that we had already paid in advance. It was a nightmare, especially with my young kids there and all. We ended up having to pay double to rent a different car on the spot.
I tried to get some help from the Green Motion customer service team, but they just kept quoting their terms and conditions at me. I was so angry with them for not being more understanding and for not giving us our money back. They didn't even lose any money since they rented the car out to someone else right away, and at a higher price too! It's like they don't care about their customers at all.
And get this - the terms and conditions they kept quoting weren't even highlighted when I booked the car. They were hidden away at the bottom of some page on their website. It's like they're trying to trick people into booking with them and then screwing them over later. I'm never using Green Motion again and I would tell anyone who asks to avoid them at all costs.
GreenMotion: A Rental Nightmare - Overcharged for Nonexistent Damage
So, I rented a car from GreenMotion at Heathrow airport and boy was it a hassle! I was running late and missed my rental pick-up time by 4 hours. As a result, they cancelled my booking. However, they did have cars available, but they were all top-of-the-line Mercedes. I had no choice but to rent one of these expensive cars, which doubled my rental cost.
When I returned the car, there was no one there to check it in. I was worried about being overcharged for any damages, so I took photos of the car to protect myself. I also took photos of the car at the beginning of the rental. A few days later, I noticed that GreenMotion charged me an extra 800 quid! I was shocked and disputed the charge. They claimed that there was damage to the car, but I had proof that there wasn't any. I sent them the before and after photos that I had taken, but they still refused to accept responsibility.
After several messages back and forth, they sent me more pictures of the car. In one of the pictures, you could clearly see the driver's side window screen, and there was no damage! I pointed this out to them, but they still didn't respond. It's clear that they are complete crooks who will scam you out of your hard-earned money.
I'm now taking legal action against these clowns, and I urge you to never use this company. They will only cause you trouble and headaches. It's a shame that such a company exists, but it's a lesson learned for me. Stay away from GreenMotion!
Unprofessional and Unreliable: My Experience with GreenMotion Car Rental in Greece
I had a really bad experience with GreenMotion car rental company. I made a reservation for an automatic Nissan Micra for the period of July 25th to August 22nd in Lefkada, Greece. I paid a deposit of 200 Euros and was supposed to pick up the car at the Action Airport in Preveza, Greece on July 25th at 1:30 pm. However, when I arrived at the airport, the office was closed and there was no car as per our agreement.
I called the office in Lefkada and was told that they didn't have any agreement under my name. I was shocked and frustrated because I had already paid the deposit and made the reservation. We had a long conversation that lasted for 45 minutes, and they finally admitted that they had found the contract. They also told me that they didn't have the Nissan Micra that I had requested, and they were planning on sending me another car which would cost me 10 Euros more per day.
I was really disappointed with their unprofessionalism and lack of communication. I had to call a cab which cost me an additional 20 Euros. I think they should refund me the 20 Euros because it was their fault that they didn't have the car as per our agreement.
The next day, I received a phone call from the Lefkada office, and they told me that they had found the contract and apologized for the inconvenience. They also told me that they didn't have the Nissan Micra, and I had to accept the Skoda that they chose. I had no choice but to accept it because I had limited time to find another rental vehicle.
Overall, I would not recommend GreenMotion car rental company to anyone. They are unprofessional, untrusted, and above all, the biggest liars. I hope they improve their services and communication in the future.
Terrible Experience with GreenMotion Car Rental in Gdansk Airport: No Office, No Show, and Unjust Penalty Charge
My experience with GreenMotion was not a good one. I rented a car from Holiday Autos site and they provided Green Motion as the local supplier in Gdansk, Poland. When we arrived in Gdansk on December 27th, 2019, we were surprised to find out that Green Motion did not have an office in the airport. We had to call them and wait for 20 minutes for an employee to come and pick us up from the airport to take us to their office location.
At the office, we agreed that the employee would meet us on our departure day, January 1st, 2020, before our flight at the same place to take us back to the airport. We did exactly what we agreed on, but unfortunately, we waited for 45 minutes beside the office, which was locked with the TV on. We tried calling the employee several times, but he did not answer. We even sent him messages, but he did not respond. We had no choice but to head off to the airport and park the car in the airport parking.
Six hours later, the employee called us to ask for the location of the car without even apologizing. After two hours, Green Motion sent me an email saying that they charged me 73.80 EUR as a penalty because the vehicle was not left in the designated place. At the same time, 74 EUR was deducted from my credit card balance. I tried to contact them, but they did not answer.
I reported a complaint (PL485184440, case: [protected]) to Holiday Autos site, but after one and a half months, they said that they could not do anything. Now, I will report my bank because I have all the documents that support my case.
Overall, my experience with GreenMotion was terrible. They did not have an office in the airport, and their employee did not show up to take us back to the airport. They charged me a penalty without any valid reason, and they did not respond to my calls and messages. I would not recommend GreenMotion to anyone.
Terrible Experience with GreenMotion Car Rental: Avoid at All Costs
I gotta say, I had a pretty bad experience with GreenMotion. I mean, I wouldn't even give them one star if I could give them a big fat zero! Let me tell you why.
First off, when I rented a car in Miami, I wanted to decline the insurance and use my credit card company's coverage instead. But the staff wouldn't let me do that. I mean, what's the point of having insurance if you can't even use it, right?
Then, as I was driving to Fort Lauderdale, I noticed that the car was shaking like crazy whenever I went over 40 miles per hour. It was so bad that I thought I was gonna lose control of the car! Not cool, GreenMotion.
But the worst part was when I stopped for gas late at night and the car wouldn't start again. I tried calling the number on my contract and some other numbers I found online, but no one answered. And when I finally got through to GreenMotion the next morning, they didn't even bother returning my call! I had to call my own off-road coverage provider to get some help.
And when I returned the car and told them about all the problems I had, they tried to give me the runaround and tell me to file my complaints somewhere else. But when I tried to call the numbers they gave me, guess what? No one answered! And when I asked to speak to the manager on duty, they just ignored me.
It's been over two months now and I've sent GreenMotion so many emails about my complaints, but they haven't even bothered to reply. I mean, come on, guys. That's just plain rude.
So yeah, I would definitely avoid this company if I were you. They're just not worth the hassle.
GreenMotion Car Rental Review: A Nightmare Experience of Hidden Fees and Poor Customer Service
I've rented cars from a lot of different companies in my time, but let me tell you, GreenMotion was the absolute worst. I don't know how they managed it, but they found three different ways to make me feel like I was getting ripped off.
So, I booked a rental car with GreenMotion through AutoEurope.com. During the booking process, they asked me if I was planning on driving to any other countries besides the Netherlands, where I was renting the car. I said yes, I was planning on driving to Germany. I assumed that the fee for driving to Germany was included in the price I paid, but when I got to the rental office, they told me I had to pay an extra 75 euros to cross the border, plus whatever they were charging for winter tires.
To make matters worse, I only had a debit card, and they insisted that I pay a non-refundable 200 euro fee to reduce the amount I would have to pay if there was any damage to the car. I asked if I could just give them a big, refundable deposit instead, like I've done with other rental car companies in the past, but they said no.
At this point, I was feeling pretty angry and frustrated. I asked for a refund, but they wouldn't give me one. So, I either had to pay the 200 euro fee or lose the 115 euros I had already paid for the rental. I ended up paying the fee, but I decided to change my plans and find another way to get to Germany without the car.
I tried to complain to GreenMotion about all of this, but they just pointed me to their terms and conditions and said they were justified in what they did. I was pretty disappointed with their response.
Oh, and one more thing: they'll charge you a cleaning fee of around 12.50 euros if there's even a little bit of dust or mud on the floor mats. Who travels with a vacuum cleaner, anyway?
All in all, I would definitely not recommend renting a car from GreenMotion. They'll find any way they can to squeeze more money out of you, and their customer service is pretty terrible.
GreenMotion: A Prime Example of Scamming and Discrimination Against Customers
This company, GreenMotion, is a prime example of how big corporations can get away with scamming and discriminating against their customers. I had pre-paid for a two-day car rental from London airport and had checked beforehand that they accepted driving licenses from India, which was on their list of accepted countries. However, when I arrived at their office, their tone was immediately insulting and rude. They asked for more documents, and when I gave them my Indian driver's license, they kept it for a few minutes and then said they couldn't give me the car. When I asked for the reason, they said it was because they didn't understand the format of the document, even though it was in English.
I tried to show them on the internet that this was the government-issued format, but they just shouted at me and refused to give me the car. I asked for a refund since they refused to give me the car, and they agreed but asked me to make an online claim. However, when I made the claim, they refused, saying I should have asked for a refund 48 hours prior to the pick-up date. I explained the whole story, but they came back with the excuse that my document was faded and therefore they couldn't issue me the vehicle. This is a complete lie, as I still have the document with me and every single text on it is crystal clear.
It seems like GreenMotion either finds new ways to scam tourists or discriminates against people based on their country of origin. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company, no matter how good a deal they offer. In the end, they will either take extra money from you or treat you like garbage. It's a shame that companies like this can get away with such behavior, but it's important to speak out and warn others so they don't fall victim to their scams and discrimination.
Green Motion: A Scam and Poor Customer Service Experience
So, I recently had an experience with Green Motion and let me tell you, it was not a good one. According to their terms and conditions, the credit card used for the rental must be in the name of the lead driver. However, when my boyfriend picked up the car, I was not present and I never signed any documents with Green Motion. Yet somehow, I was listed as a secondary driver. I was in another state at the time of booking and had my credit card with me, so I have no idea how this happened.
To make matters worse, Green Motion is now trying to charge me $150 for two tolls that they claim were not paid. I immediately called them to dispute the charges, but they refused to remove them and even refused to let me speak to a manager. I was so frustrated that I reported them for fraud to my bank and got my credit card number changed. When I emailed their customer service, I was basically told to go pound sand. This is not how you treat customers!
But that's not all. The car my boyfriend was given had a panel falling off the front, scratches all over it, the check engine light was on, the windshield wipers didn't work properly, the gas tank was empty, the alignment was horrendous, and it wasn't even the car we were supposed to have received. It was an absolute mess. I believe that Green Motion should drop all of the supposed charges for the tolls and my boyfriend should be fully refunded for the money he spent renting the car. Unless it's in their terms and conditions that they are supposed to give customers unsafe cars that have recently been in an accident/collision.
Overall, my experience with Green Motion was abhorrent. This place is an absolute scam and has exceedingly corrupt business practices. I strongly advise against using them for your car rental needs. They will scam you and treat you poorly.
Beware of Green Motion Car Rental: A Review of Questionable Practices
I recently rented a car from Green Motion through trip.com to travel from London City Airport to Cambridge. My only intention was to drive it on the highway and leave it in a secured parking lot in Cambridge. However, my experience with Green Motion was not a pleasant one.
When I arrived at the rental location, I witnessed a furious customer complaining about being charged for a scratch that he claimed he didn't cause. The scratch was small, but he was being charged over 250 pounds. This made me a little nervous, but when they showed me the car I was getting, a new Toyota Yaris without any damage, I felt relieved.
However, when I returned the car, the guy who checked it told me there was damage. I was confused because I was sure there was no damage when I picked it up. He showed me a minuscule marking on the edge of the wheel rim, less than one cm long and hardly visible. I took a photo of it, but he still insisted that I pay 135 pounds for the damage. I wonder how many customers before me have paid for the same damage!
While I was still there, another customer arrived and was told that an inflator was missing from the trunk. He was extremely angry as he had not even opened the trunk, so it would have been impossible for anything to get lost from there.
It seems that Green Motion offers low prices but uses dirty tricks to earn much more money than the rental fee by using the damage insurance clause. They never repair the scratches and damages, making it easy money for them. I have rented cars all over the world since 1986, including places like Thailand, New Zealand, and Chile, and have never had an accident or damage to a rented car. I am absolutely sure I didn't damage the car this time either.
I later read an article in The Guardian about Green Motion and their questionable practices (www.theguardian.com/money/2018/jun/09/green-motion-car-hire-bills). It seems that my experience is not unique. I would not recommend renting from Green Motion and suggest that you look for a more reputable car rental company.
Avoid GreenMotion Car Rental: Terrible Experience and Stolen Money
GreenMotion is a car rental company that has been the subject of many negative reviews. One customer had a terrible experience with them and warns others to avoid them at all costs. The customer claims that GreenMotion stole ?3000 from them for a damage that they never did. The team was rude and the customer service was horrible. The Green Motion representative even hung up on the customer when they asked for clarification on some documents. The customer was shocked when the representative asked them if they thought they were a princess.
The customer made the mistake of not taking pictures of the car and the specific damage they were accused of doing when they originally picked up the car. They only had a couple of pictures showing the vehicle plate and nothing more. GreenMotion gave them a very old car that was totally different from the one they booked on the EasyJet platform. They were forced to pay for GreenMotion's own insurance, which starts from ?120 and doesn't cover anything, even though they already had a complete insurance with Axa covering literally everything.
When they returned the car, the staff and manager, Helgi, very rudely accused them of a damage and forced them to pay ?3000 for a damage that was already there. They claimed that the customer made a dent damage on the driver's door due to the strong wind on a day, despite the customer repeating several times that the damage was already there when they picked the car up on 13/02. It was just a small sign on the driver's door. The only thing is that the door started making a funny noise one morning, when they first opened it, but they never drove the car or did something dodgy.
The customer advises others to avoid this company at all costs. They should have paid attention to the other negative comments they have and avoid Helgi and her team, who are also extremely rude. The customer was lucky that Axa gave them the money back and that they had this insurance, otherwise they would have lost lots of money. When they returned the car on 16/02, there were four other customers in the GreenMotion office complaining about the same issues (insurance) and another couple who was about to miss their flight as the GreenMotion team was busy stealing their money for no reason.
Non return of deposit
I booked and hired a car from Green Motion Manchester airport on the 17th April 2023. The car was returned two days later and it was given the all clear by a nice young man called Ritz. It is now 33 days later and the 1200gbp deposit is still outstanding on my credit card. The main office spin some tale about banks taking up to 30 days to refund. My credit card company says this is not true as reserved deposit are normally credited the same day. Green Motion manchestrr have not answered emails. The main office is now promising to escalate my complaint because it has gone 30 days. But they require up to 14 days before I can expect to hear from them. I have disputed the charge with my credit card company. How can a company hold on to a deposit for so long.?
Desired outcome: Refund of deposit and interest, apology and a review of practice.
Car Rental at Tampa, FL Airport
I secured, via Economy Booking, a daily rate of $18.00. Upon arrival, I presented my NY State Insurance Card, was told they required my Declaration page? State Farm e-mailed the same, then I was told Green Motion required $500,000 of insurance, yes, a half a million dollars. The additional charge was $30.00 per day! Also, they would not accept my personal SunPass, instead either paying $19.00 per day or avoiding toll roads.
If either additional fee, both seem exorbitant, had been referenced at the time I booked, I would have cancelled and booked with a "real" company, Avis, Hertz, Fox, Sixt, etc., as I had previously. The two customers, the one prior to me and the one after me, had similar issues. I don't expect Green Motion will be in business for long if they continue the bait and switch policy.
The car was great, a new Toyota, my rate went from $188 to $361
I filed a complaint with Economy Bookings, the declined to compensate me for their partners thievery
Desired outcome: I asked the booking agent, Economy Bookings, for some consideration, either full or partial refund of the additional charges or a credit for future use but they declined
Green Motion Rental Car Company, Tampa, Florida
Green Motion put a hold on my credit card of $1,000.00 on July 18, 2022. It is now October 19, 2022 and they still have not released the hold. For all intents and purposes, Green Motion has stolen $1,000.00 from me.

car rental
Hi.
I was reluctant to give them even one star. My advise to everyone who wants.. Sorry considers using this company please don't. The motto of green motion should be:
If you want to loose money use our company!
Ok now seriously their business is not renting cars but selling very expensive car insurances or if do not buy their insurance they will sell you very expensive car repairs i.e. For even a smallest scratch you can loose your 1200 euro! Deposit.
So it works like that:
You find them on the net and their rates are quite good comparing with others so you pay a deposit - hook #1
Then, 1 week before you pick up the car you pay the rest (automatically if you do not say nooo!)
Then you go to pick up the car and they... Surprise surprise - show you the price list they will charge you for the damaged car and... The jaw drops since for say 3mm small scratch you pay between 200 and 500 euro! Subject where the scratch is and what car you rent.
The price list is in fine print and 2 page long.
You will not find this list on line, no no - this list is their little secret.
Now hook #2 you want to thank them very much and go elsewhere but.. You are loosing all your money you paid for the entire rent period. So what to do? Buy their insurance that is equal to your rent (whole period) in may case my rent was 350 euro for 2 weeks rent and insurance... 280 euro. So, I did not take insurance. Few hour after I dropped my car at the airport sitting on my plane back home I got the email: " we found two scratches 3mm long on your roof and we charge you 750 euro - bang! And in the same time you see all your 1200 euro deposit taken from your credit card.
Luckily and I really say I was lucky I took photos of this place on the car when is was taking the car (the exact spot) and the scratch was already there.
After few months of threatening them etc they returned my deposit. So was it worth it? Definitely no
Stay away from them! I use car renting companies a lot in various countries but I have not seen this type of tactic before and the defect price list is a master stroke.
Cheers
Tom
extra charge after car return
Sir/Madam
We rented our car from "Green Motion" at Edinburgh Airport in 23rd July and returned it in the 8th August.
Our invoice is IED-118798
Our booking number RES-509381.
Our CarFlexi e-Voucher CF5BD383
Our provider charged us an extra 125 GBP due to a minor scratch in the wheel alloy.
We have been told we should get a refund from CarFlexi after sending the invoice attached
Thank you,
Isy Borensztajn
total scam. untrusted company.
I have made a reservation for 8 days in Kos Airport, Greece. I made the booking at rentalcars.com . We received extremely poor service from the company in Kos Airport. I am most annoyed that we wasted a morning (and half a day of our vacation) arguing with the man at the front desk.
Unfortunately we did't have a credit card with us so according to their police we couldn't pay otherwise the deposit. However before us there was a British couple, who gave him a debit card for the deposit and he accepted it! (even if they say that is out of their terms and conditions.) We felt that he was making fun of us.
So at the desk office was an extremely rude man who did not gave us neither a refund of the 127euros we have paid online but also when we told him that we will rend another car for 160 euros but we will write a letter to the company about his indescribable behavior he said that he would give us the car with 15 euros/a day but since we will inform the company, we get it with 20 euros a day!
I find this unacceptable and impolite for any customer. As the most unacceptable behavior i have ever seen was your employ, he completely ruined our vacation and showed us how impolite and rude people can be just to make profit.
He was under a legal obligation to offer the new car at a certain price not tell us that he would give us the card 15 euros but because of writing a letter to the company, he would not make any discount and give us the car for 20 euros. And of course when we asked for the receipts of the two cars we paid, he told as that we would get it when we return the car. It was not a surprise that we NEVER GOT A RECEIPT for the 160 euros and 127 euros (rentalcars) we paid.
I would like to mention also that before and during the booking i was trying million times to call at their office in Kos island in the number it appears online +30 2242 051649 but it wasn't working.
So i could not get any direct information about their terms. This caused considerable disappointment and inconvenience and as a result I had to hire an alternative car. The above make me feel cautious about the quality of your service.
I informed the company and rentalcars as well in order to provide us a refund, at least an amount of the first car we paid online and never got they replied that it is my fault and they can not do anything. Terrible Staf. Minus 100 stars if possible. Worst car rental experience ever. I'll NEVER come close to doing business with Green Motion. I also found out that they are ranked as one of the WORST car rental companies. Be careful not to lure you with "cheap" prices. They will fraud you at the end by extra fees and any other extra charge.
the company asked me to sign some extra docs like credit check additional to credit card.
Green motion/ Istanbul airport company ask me to sign some additional bill (Turkish style credit check which is very unprofessional) . Never faced a similar matter before. And they told me that they requested it from Turkish citizens. I did not agree with them and did not get the car. Unclear request. Please return my money back.Booking no CF2E7874
