first I would like to say I purchased Choice Home Warranty for piece of mind. I am a signal 62 year old woman and I purchased and paid for my plan upfront.

I am beside myself with worry and upset over my water softener. you are saying under section F9 that you can not get the part that needs to be replaced to have the water softener work so you are arbitrarily sending me $225.00 as compensation.
I called today and spoke with someone and told that I did not want to accept that. that I wanted to get it fixed or replaced.
I was told 'nope, doesn't work that way. we pay you for the part when we can't get it. It also says in section F9 that you repair or replace. you can't repair and I would like to have it replaced. The replacement cost from Patriot plumbing you sent out is approx $1800.00 . $225.00 comes no where near that, and I am on a fixed income and cannot afford that cost.
I bought this policy and was told I didn't need to worry about repair and replacement cost because that was what I was buying. I understand that some of the coverage, example the well pump has a limit that you pay. I don't see anywhere a limit for a water softener. Tashay Rogers your representative told me $225.00 was it, and basically if I didn't like it I could write a letter. I asked for owners name, and she was not at liberty to give that out. I asked for email and she told me I could send an email as my request.
I asked to speak with her boss and she said no one higher than her other than the owners. She was very rude.
I am requesting that someone review my claim and get back with me on replacement of the water softener.

unethical service provider (technician) assigned - took $85 advance and did not return to do the job!
Cheated out of $85 and the technician failed to show up for the job!
Three days after placing a service request - a technician did show up around 6:00pm on Sunday 18 November introduced himself as being from A&J Mechanical. After reviewing the items we had issues with he declared that the fixes required replacement of the cartridge in the shower/tub and also replacement of the faucet assembly. But that neither of replacement parts were covered by the Choice Home Warranty.
He then estimated that the replacement parts cost and his time will be a total of $150.
I mentioned that the Choice Home Warranty service charge was supposed to be $45 -- he responded that it was included.
He then asked for an advance of $85 for the purchase of the parts -- I wrote him a check and he sent me a receipt by email acknowledging the receipt of the $85 and expecting a balance of $65 with he finishes the job.
He said he was going to return the following day (Monday, 20 Nov.) at 2:00pm in the afternoon.
Well, he did not show up on Monday at 2:00pm. I called him at 3:00pm on the provided A&J Mechanical number: [protected]. He did not answer but sent a text message stating that he was on a call and will call back in 5mins.
When he did not call back -- I called him on the other number from which he had called on Sunday to confirm his evening visit: [protected] . He answered the call and when I asked him why he had not shown up for his appointment - he stated that he got stuck on some other heating system job and could not make it to our house that day.
He then assured me that he was going to come the following day (Tuesday, 20 Nov) at 2:00pm.
Well he did not show up on Tuesday either. I called him multiple times on both the above phone numbers and left messages -- I also texted him to let me know what was up. He did not respond to any of the calls or text messages.
So, now the situation is that he as cashed my check for $85 and has not shown up to fix the issues.
Frankly I do not believe that he is even qualified to do a plumbing job -- I think that the "A&J Mechanical" is a fictitious name - no such company exists.
Choice Home Warranty has sent me a con man, a fraud and cheat.
I am extremely upset and disappointed.
I am going to now file complaints with Better Business Bureau, the police and also our state trade and commerce department.
This cheat stated his name as Jose Faliciano and also cashed the check signing this name.

Where is justice in the world. Our civilization and society is going down a negative and evil path. How do we as a people allow such a crime to continue without bounds. This company is purposely and without a conscious cheating vendors and customers out of there money. I ran 47 work orders in 2 weeks and was denied payment for no legitimate reason. I was running these calls serving Choice Home Warranty and there customer base. I repaired every issue recieved authorization from the warranty with a negotiated rate and was giving the green light to complete all repairs. After buying all the parts and spending all the time to repair these work orders I get a call from vendor relations that our agreed price was too high and that they are cancelling my account and backing out of paying for any claim after the work was completed. How is this legal? I wish all and anyone that had been scammed by them contact me let get the FBI, the Department of Justice, the White House or anybody to shut these criminals down. My faith and justice is with God and they will reap what they sow. I only ask for the oppressed and wronged to unite and end this evil practice and crime.

I have been trying to get my oven fixed for over two months. there has been a tech here twice and it is still not fixed. I consider this to be a breach of contract and I want to nullify my contract and get my money back. Policy number [protected]. The original claim number is [protected]. Whenever I check on the claim I get the message Resolved and the last Message said Closed.
Choice Home Warranty denied my claim because I could not prove that my heater failure was not due to rust and corrosion.
My technician said that for the age(20 years) that it showed "normal wear and tear" but when pressed agreed that it could be due to rust and corrosion. I believe that this is the way that CHW avoids paying any claims on a heater that is twenty years old.
They told me to read my policy.
I told them that since I inherited the policy from the prior owner that I had no policy to read. The fact of the matter was that CHW had failed to change the email address after I had contacted them.
They had my email but had been still sending emails to the prior owner.
I just had to have a new furnace installed today, cost was about $8,000. My other bid was $10K. I haven't had my HVAC working for months.
CHW was unable on two times to get a technician to come out.
I'm a Realtor and 73 years old and this is the WORST HOME WARRANTY COMPANY that I have ever worked with.
I'd like them to share in the cost. To date, they have offered NOTHING!

I just started my construction company and signed up to do some work with choice. It's not the best way to generate revenue but for me it was better than non. I had problems from day 1 but after 3 weeks of working for them and doing jobs it was clear that they were liars and theives. I now have all of my submitted invoices on hold for payment. I spend several thousand dollars on my company credit card to cover parts and gas and now it seems there will be no reembursement. I have a wife and two children to feed and the financial burden they have placed on my family and I is very heavy. This is wrong and unethical. They need to be stopped. Disappointed. I will say that I am a little disappointed in the long process to have my refrigerator repaired.
As you can see my claim first went in Aug 25th, two months. The repair was finally approved and the repair service gave 2 options for Choice Warranty. The first being a higher cost for a part that is on the shelf and refrigerator would have been repaired in a few days. The second being less expensive with the part being back ordered for up to 1 month. Choice Home Warranty chose the 2nd choice.
This brings the time for my refrigerator to be repaired at over 3 months, 1/4 of the year. If this was your family and home would this be an acceptable timeline?

When I purchased the policy from Choice Home Warranty I was informed that my AC unit along with an array of other items were covered. Well, I submitted a claim for one of the AC units that was not cooling. A service company assessed the needed repairs but Choice refused to approved the recommended repair. Their excuse was that the repairman had stated that the needed valve was damaged with the wrong tool (which is not what the repairman stated) and therefore it was not eligible to be covered.
The determination was appealed and it was thereafter denied based on their contention that it was not responsible for the alleged damage (valve is old and leaks freon).
After looking at the complaint list, I can clearly see now that Choice is in the business of denying claims for made up reasons.
I was scammed by this people.

On 9/18/18 I submitted a claim to choice home warranty for my air conditioning which was not cooling. The repairman stated that I needed a new coil. Chw denied this claim stating that they were not liable for repairs due to rust or corrosion. There was no rust or corrosion on the coil, as was confirmed with the a/c technician. After I disputed this with chw, they came back with another denial stating that the a/c was already covered under the manufacturers warranty. Yes, the a/c coil was covered under warranty, but not the labor! It cost me over $700 for this repair. They told me that this exclusion was outlined in the service agreement, but still can not find anything which excludes coverage for labor on air conditioning. I have been with chw for almost three years and find that they try to deny as many claims as possible. Very bad company to work with. Will not renew!

We had coverage through this company. It clearly stated in the covered section of household plumbing that leaks from the pipes or broken pipes were covered. We have a free standing shower in the master bathroom. We filed a claim. The plumbers, that we have used before without complaint, came into the house; they took one look and said they would not be able to see what the problem was until we had a carpenter remove the built-in cabinet assembly from the wall and cut out sheet rock in the wall to gain access to the pipes. We paid them the $45 fee and they said to call them when the carpenter was through. They reported this to CHW and told them they did not know what was needed until they gained access. The liars at CHW refused the claim stating that they did not cover shower heads or the arm that comes out of the wall. The shower head and arm had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the leak. The solder joint at the water supply pipe had come loose AT the union of the pipe and shower arm. They refused to cover the cost of repair and it cost us an additional $120 for the repair. This was a total breech of contract as stated in THIER coverage terms. They lied about what the plumbers told them and they were very belligerent and arrogant. We fought this whole thing for 12 days until I was so angry that I cussed them out and told them to take their lies and have fornication with themselves. I am sick and tired of people who take your money, promise services in return and then do nothing but lie and try to get out of their contract. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE FOR YOUR HOME WARRANTY. They already have thousands of complaints and here is yet another one. THEY LIE!

My parents purchased this warranty and it's been a complete waste of money. Their AC went out and CHW refused to pay stating that it was their fault that the AC went out and they are not paying anything on the claim. They had purchased the warranty in full so a few months go by and their dishwasher goes out. September 2018 a CHW technician says that the dishwasher is not repairable. CHW says that they will send them $376.00 to buy a new one. Check arrives yesterday 10/11/2018 for $176.00, they contacted CHW and are told that they agreed to the $176.00 on a recorded call and on an email. Could CHW provide the recorded call or the email? No they could not. CHW told them that they were not going to get any more money from them and it is possible to buy a dishwasher for $176.00. Extremely disappointed with the service or lack of that they have provided my parents.
The salesperson told my parents that all would be taken care of HVAC, appliances, plumbing etc. I will continue to spread this bad review in hopes that this company will not be able to scam anyone else.
sounds like what happened to me. When my ac broke down I called them and they gave me the name of a service person. to call. The ac company showed up at the door with a new ac and proceeded to pull the old one out. When I went to use my repair or replace warranty i was told i did not follow the guidelines as that it was to be anaylized first and then they would get permission to proceed. the men putting in the ac said it would not be replaced as it was not taken care of properly and it was dirty and rusty. I have 12 years of service bills showing it was serviced 2x's a year. and of course it was dirty .it had been sitting out since 2006. Then they lie about things I said on the phone .when I asked to hear the 'recording of the conservation' they said 'we don't let anyone listen to them. I can't believe how all lie. They had me pay cash upfront of $6700.00 which they said I would be refunded. After [2] months and dozen of calls I have never seen a refund or reason for SHODDY treatment. I am reporting them to crimes against seniors. it eats up your time and nerves.
Never again! The CWH is a well oiled scam machined with carefully designed almost technically correct reasons for denying costly claims.
I have two examples. 1) AC System failure due to the freon leak out of evaporator coil. Claim denied. Reason: rust (!). Of course evaporator coil rusts - it's made out of aluminum and is always covered with condensation. This is normal wear a tear. 2) AC compressor locked up / grounded. Claim denied due to alleged reason that the only reason AC compressor grounds is due to overheating and CWH does not cover overheating. This is, of course, is not technically accurate since AC compressor grounding can (an most like did) occur due to winding insulation material breaking down with age. This is normal wear a tear and should be covered. The so called "CHW case manager" kept reading and repeating the same incorrect line from her notes. I am convinced - this is a carefully designed and executed scam.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DON'T DO IT! This is the worst company ever! The reps are functional illiterates. Your hold time for customer service is 10 or more minutes and the repairmen that they send to your home, leaves much to be desired. This company will be closing soon and re-establishing under another name. That's what sub-par, bait and switch, scandalous enterprises do. HORRIBLE! pay a little extra and go with American. I wish I had read consumer reviews before they took my $1, 000.00.
Terrible! They are the worst. I've been hung up on and today an employee named "Takiea" put me on hold while I was talking. She never asked to put me on hold. I don't understand how this company is still operating and the CEO is walking free. This is fraud.
unethical behavior: untrained "repairmen" ruined my appliance completely
When I called for service I made sure to request someone who was trained on the HAIER WASHER-DRYER unit. I was assured of this and was given a December 22, 2017 date. What I received was ignorant, destructive "servicemen" who totally destroyed my HAIER WASHER/DRYER.
I am now contending that none of the (3) repairmen knew what they were doing.
The first one who came fiddled with the machine for about 20 minutes then looked at us and asked, "Where's the Dryer?" We explained that the unit was a washer/dryer combo. He said OK and went back into the unit. Once again he fiddled around and to our amazement again asked, "Where's the Dryer?"
Need I say more? Yes, there's more.
The last one, who came on Monday, March 5, removed several parts from the unit, pieces that were in place prior to his arrival, finally breaking it. Afterward my husband and son looked at it and discovered that the stabilizer (without which the unit cannot work) and clips were gone. They also discovered that the fan and blades were melted. The fellow did not tell us, replace them or leave them with us. The washing machine, which had been working prior to his arrival, then could not and did not work at all. We have photographs showing the location of the missing stabilizer and clips and the fan and blades which are melted.
I have been lied to, greatly inconvenienced, and aggravated. I paid a $350 annual fee for Top Quality service and received nothing but bungling and destruction of my property.
Due to all this, the multiple failed promises to repair my HAIER WASHER/DRYER, the complete bungling and total incompetence of the servicemen and the fact that parts were removed and not replaced, I feel that CHOICE should replace the machine. The new one cost me $1000.
CHOICE claimed their cost would be $989.00 to replace (per their website) but sent me a check for $299.99 which I did not cash.

I made the mistake of submitting my phone number in order to get a quote, after checking with the Better Business Bureau and discovered that this warranty service had over five thousand complaints I decided I didn't want it,
I started receiving phone calls from this warranty company and I would advise them that i was not interested in their product and to please stop calling.
I eve n filed a complaint with the BBB but I still get a phone call the the morning and one at night.

Not worth the savings
My Air conditioner started acting weird. It makes this huge noise every 20 minutes for 40 seconds. The sound is loud to a point where the walls and the plumbing inside started vibrating. Choice sent a technician and the technician could not figure it out and he left. Called choice again that day, they told me that I need to talk to that AC company and not choice. So called the AC company and they sent another tech the following day and he figured out the problem. It was with the TXV ( Thermal expansion valve). Choice told me that they dont cover TXV as per my contract and on top of that they dont cover noise. The fact that the AC is not BROKEN yet, they will not cover it. They could have told me that before they sent a technician that noice is not covered. So I figured that this is not the right warranty for me and called them to cancel. At that time, they said that they will cover it for me if I pay an additional $100. I agreed to do it. The tech came and as he was working on the TXV replacement, he was not able to pull the coil casing. He called Choice to make sure they are ok with it. Choice agreed to open it. When he opened it, some pipe came off and he was not able to put it back. So now my AC is half open with the copper and PVC lines cut off. The tech left saying that choice should approve the further repairs. Called choice again and they said since this was not a covered repair they will not do anything on this. Thats is now my AC unit which was working fine in the morning except for the noise is now broken open apart. It is their tech who could not put it back and they wont take responsibility.

Stay Far Away! Do not purchase a warranty from this company! They are frauds. Will take your money for the warranty and then provide no coverage when a claim occurs, while giving you the complete run around! policy cancellation & refund issue
I called Choice Home Warranty to cancel my policy number [protected] on 9/15/18. I was informed at that time it would take 7 to 10 days for the refund to hit. I've sent emails re: the status three times and I still get the same information only this last time I was informed when I called the resolution team and spoke with manager Pakia that it would take 10 to 15 business days versus calendar days for my refund. When I asked her to escalate my issue, she informed me that she is the manager there and there would be no escalation and that my policy was canceled and I would just have to wait for my refund. My main concern and complaint is it took them 10 minutes to take the funds from my checking account which is a reoccurring payment but now it takes them 7 to 15 business days to issue a refund? My question is what if I forget to track it in 10 to 15 business days and still don't receive the refund… Is that the hopes? It sounds like a sales tactic to me. I just want my refund of $39.17 and I will never work with them again! In addition when I had a technician come out from another company… He said he used to work for this company and that they are basically a company who works out of the basement of their home they don't even have a brick-and-mortar location. That's discerning to say the least…

This is one total piece of [censored] company! They have sent over 7 people out for the same problem since October and it is ONLY that my icemaker does not work. RUN do NOT walk away from them!
Don't waste your time and money with them. I just explained to them that I had sold my house, may credit crd was compromised and they my bank gave me new credit card with a different number. They charged me for 2 extra months with my new number, with our me giving it to them. The representative tried to get me to "switch the policy to my new property" When I told him I am not longer in the country his demeanor changed and he said "there will be no refund" and hung up before I can even ask why.
I decided to cancel my policy that was in effect from 3/3/21 to 4/7/21@ 12:19pm. I paid $3, 000.00 for six years. When cancelling, Agent 1 told me that I would get
$2.400.00 back. That did not make sense since I had the policy for a little over a month. She explained service cancellation fee etc.
Agent 2 (1:10pm same day) told me that Agent 1 said that I was keeping the policy for one year, even though I explicitly told her that I did Not want this so Agent 2 said my refund would be $2, 850.00 since the cancellation fee was only $50.00 and I was not keeping the year that Agent 1 decided for me, that I wanted.
Neither of these times did I get a confirmation email of the cancellation and or refund.
My original email, from the agent who sold me this policy stated, in writing, that if I chose to cancel that I would only be charged for what I used and the refund would be pro rated.
I called again, Agent (1:50 same day) three said he would cancel the policy, but, could not issue a confirmation email as the cancellation department had to do this. Agent 3 said my refund would be $2, 900.00.
This all started with a inferior technician who did not even attempt to install the brand new part the we purchased.
I know they have great reviews, that's how I got hooked! Don't let this happen to you. CHW does not want to give you back you money even though you are greatly dissatisfied!

When she went to the basement she saw water running from under the hot water heater. She panicked and called a local plumber that Choice had sent out before, they were there within an hour and replaced the unit. Also stated that it was ready to bust open and would have flooded the basement. While she was waiting for the plumbing company to come out she called Choice and was told because she called the plumbing company first, the claim would not be covered. $1, 075. I came home and called Choice myself and was treated as though they just simply didn't care, I asked for a manager and was told one would call me within 24 to 48 hours. When she did call it was the very same attitude. Never again.

The refrigerator was not working. They sent a technician came to take a look and said that need to replaces some parts and those parts were not cover by their insure. They denied my claim. I tried to call the technician to understand more but never got called back even I left so many messages. I called the case manager left messages still not heard from them.
It is a scam. I think we must bring up a law suit!

had obtained a 4 year contract. I am going into the second year. I had to use in July 2018for the first time to fix my microwave. They could NOT fix it. Instead, they offered to pay me $169.00. What microwave could I buy for a built in?I accepted, because I was told at the time of sign up they would fully REPLACE any appliance they could not fix. Now the contract languages starts to change. I had to use it on Fri. Sept 21, 2018 for my pool. Two items are not functioning properly. My salt cell, and valet cleaning system. After asking many times the sales person that they would be covered IF I also purchase the pool add on. I was told it is. Calling on 9 21 2018 and asking AGAIN if it was covered was told yes. You tell them exactly what is the issue, yet they get it wrong when they send over the work order to the vendor. They came here saw the issues, call the company, only to be now told that the pool is NOT covered. They claim that these systems were added. they are both tied into the filtration system, which they claim they would cover. Such liars. I was also told I could cancel at any time.Now, if I do, they add on a 10% cancel fee as well as other fees as well as ADDING any other pay outs that they covered. So you get back pittance if you cancel. I strongly feel that they do not express this to you and take advantage of senior citizens. To me, IMHO, this is legal
thievery. I would like more money back then the $300.00 they offer. I think is very unfair.These are tied filtration, there is no way add them later. They are now just doing a bunch of gibberish to confuse you. The service reps will not allow you to speak with a manager. I was kept on hold for over 45 minutes and as I tried to resolve this matter, was then being informed of the added cost if I decided to cancel. They literally got you! there would be no way to resolve this issue with them as they will not listen or speak with you. They win. I would notrecommend this company to anyone in the future as I have in the past.
hot water heater explanation
I ordered a service on my hot water heater. They then informed me that there was no warranty on the tank itself. I have a very bad leak They assigned me a claim #[protected] and sent a repairman a week later.who said it was the tank leaking and would not repair it. I was so upset I called back, had a horrible complaint with a rep. At the end of the conversation, she rudily wanted to cancel my policy#[protected], but offered to pay all the money I put into it $188.00 ( I only joined the Choice home Warranty in June). I heard no word after that and a rep told me to call Micyah at [protected] Extention 2315>I called every day last week and left numerous messages, and she never called me back.
