CitiMortgage took a year to go over loan modification

Citi Mortage was contacted by us in Sept of 2009 to see if we qualified for the Home Mortgage assistance program. They told us we did and told us the amount to begin paying and not to pay any more or less for three months to show an ability to pay. We were told that it would take 6-8 weeks to do the paperwork on the modification. I sent in all the necessary documents that were requested. First they lost them. Then after not hearing from them for 4 months I contacted them and a diferrent person was working on our stuff and he needed additional documents. Then of course it was 2010 and they needed current documents since it had been so long since I sent in the first ones. Then he needed additional documents that was not listed on the original packet. Then I ended up getting on disability. So had to send in additional documents although the loan was solely in my husbands name my documents were then very important. Called back in after not hearing a response from the last set of docs and found out that we had another new person working on our packet. By then is was Sept of 2010 and he finally said he had everything that was needed and sent it over to the final process. We were told within 24 hours that we dont qualify and was followed with a letter stating that we had till the end of the month to pay $9, 000 in late fees and charges and the balance between the payment amount and the payment we were told to pay. Citi mortgage would not negociate any of the fees or charges and set us up on a payment plan that has crippled us for the past 3 months and we have 3 more months to go and now our loan was sold to Selene Finance. Not looking forward to dealing with them. I already see a descrepancy between the amount that I paid and the amount the Selene shows as receiving.

CitiMortgage lost payments

OMG, I cant believe that Im not alone in this crisis with Citimortgage. In 2004 I sent in two payments that totalled almost $3, 000.00 to my mortgage company called First Nationwide Mortgage. I then receive a letter from a company called Citimortgage two months later telling me Im in default of my loan. I had never heard of this company so I pulled my statement with First Nationwide and call customer service. The prompt stated Citimortgage. I was advised from the customer service rep that Citimortgage had purchased First Nationwide and that I now have a new accout number. I was advised from the rep that they would need the front and back copies of my checks since they had already cleared from my bank. Well folks, needless to say since April 2004 I have faxed and mailed numerous copies of these checks and no one will take ownership to find this mis-applied payments. I worked for BB&T at the time, so my personal banker even called the mortgage company on my behalf and same thing, "please sumbit copies of the front and back of the check." My banker told the representative that when their company stamped the back of the checks, the numbers where smeared, so she felt that someone at Citimortgage really needed to investigate and maybe look on my old account number (you know the one that I had with First Nationwide Mortgage) and see if the payments where posted on that account. So, with all this said, I mailed/faxed in numberous copies of the front and back of the check, BB&T did as well to all the different addresses/fax numbers that where provided. In the meantime, Citimortgage threatened foreclosure and had me doing all these repayments plan amounts and at one time, my montly payment was up to $1700.00. Finally, I was able to get ahold of a supervisor that could understand English and he seemed like my knight in shinning armor. This man even gave me his direct line. They found one of the payments and applied it to my account. GUESS WHAT, YOU READY? Someone went and removed it from my account. Yes, no jokes asided. Just wait, it gets better. The start foreclosure on my house. I was forced to do a chapter 13 bankruptcy in order to save my home. Well, long story short, now they are saying we are $18, 000.00 behind on payments and indicate that they havent had a payment on my account since 2009. I have been in bankruptcy since 2005 and all payments have been made every month. I called to see if I could do a loan remodification thru HAMP and what do you know, they said I didnt qualify. When I asked why, the rep said that I had to be at a 31 and i was conviently at a 32%. But guess what, I qualified for a traditional loan modification. I have a FHA loan and the guidelines should work in my favor, but Citimortgage states NO, I need a traditional loan. I was ready to ask the rep, should I get the economy size jar of Vasoline this time. Here is the straw that has broke the camels back. On 12/20/10 I called in to let Citimortgage know that my state, NC has a new foreclosure prevention program and I pre-qualified for, so I would be meeting with my loan counselor and I wanted to give them all the information. The representative asked if I could make some type of payment to show good faith and the money would go into a seperate account, but it wouldnt stop foreclosre on my property.. but it would show that I was making a effort while I was trying to get assistance. I told the rep that I could make a $200.00 payment, however I would need to post date the check for 1/7/11. She said fine, and tried to put it thru, well when I asked for the confirmation number, she said the system want allow me to do it. She said just write void on that check, we cant process it. She stated to call back on 1/7/11 to make the payment. I went to the mailbox last night and I had two NSF notices from my bank. I called my bank to advise them that I didnt authorize this payment and what could I do. The bank offered to call Citimortgage to get a verbal authorization so they could waive the $108.00 NSF that occurred on my account. When the rep went thru the notes, she couldnt find where the orginially rep documentated anything, but she couldnt see where she put thru the $200.00 payment on 12/20/10. I told her without a confirmation number its not a legal transaction. Conviently, she found a confirmation number and even told me that they dont have to give you this number. Because I verbally gave the routing & account number, then I was bound by the payment. I totally lost my cool at this point and scared everyone in my house. Even the dog went and hide. Here I was on the phone with my bank and Citimortgage and it seems that Im the one who looks like the fool. I began yelling for a supervisor that I was tired of being transferred, that they needed to pull the call from 12/20/10 b/c I documentated the entire conversation, I gave specific names of the numerous reps that I spoke to that day, the time of each call that was transferred and I wouldn't eat these charges. The loss mitigation rep said they didnt have supervisors, that I would have to be transferred to the Escalation department, that is where all the supervisors are who can take the calls. I was transferred over to that department and the Supervisor agreed with me and said that the rep should've never took the payment to begin with, unless I was paying the $18, 000.00 to get me current. I had to three way call the bank back and finally got the verbal authorization for the bank to refund me $108.00 in NSF fees b/c of the mortgage company error, not mine. It amazes me that it took me going postal on the phone and subcoming to tears in order for someone to act human and take responsibility for "their" error. Also, when I asked where this $18, 000.00 came from the told me it came from no payments being received since 2009, late fees, service fee's, deliquency fees which are a serperate late fee, plus a percentage of the billing cycle. I was given the fax number for the research department, which keep in mind was the same number that was given to me in 2004. So, with all this said, Im meeting a lawyer on 12/30/10 to file a class action civil lawsuit against Citimortgage. This has caused a major financial hardship for me and my husband, not to mention what it has done to our 10 year marriage. We both had to seek medical attention for the stress it has caused. I will take my three inch binder with all my documentation, as well as, all my doctor records with me to the lawyer and I plan on seeking damages beyond measural means against Citimortgage.

CitiMortgage payment system

I fell behind on my payments in October because I was unemployed for more than 2 years. I finally got a job in late September but no sooner did I start the new job than Citimortgage raised my payments $300 a month, claiming I needed more money in the escrow fund. I am now more than 2 months behind but attempted to make a partial payment to show that I'm trying to pay and get caught up. But Citimortgage rejected the payment--I either pay everything I owe or I can't pay anything. This will just snowball. Let me pay what I can; let me catch up. I've filed for a loan modification but after reading many other complaints, I'm afraid of what they'll do next. Any thoughts?

Go to your city and county to see how much your taxes are exactly. You also need to find out how much your home owners insurance is. When you get the figures, added them together and divide by 12. You should have gotten the tax card yourself. Also you insurance statement. The bank cannot calculate these for you without you having them first. My mortgage company ripped me off too. I am in foreclosure and I am in the process of moving by Dec. 29. If you do this then you will know how much is suppose to be escrow. Did they say you came up short for taxes? You can pay your own taxes too. Just send them a copy of the receipt.

CitiMortgage loss forbearance

Citimortgage, does not care about helphing people: after they screw-up. I will admit my husband and I were only one month behind in our house note for about 6 mos..I did look into the modification program, but was told, we did not qualify on the company. A few weeks later a REP from citimortgage by the initals of S.H called us and was saying I have been trying to get a hold of you, I with the loss mitigation dept, and i see you were trying to get your loan modified, i told her that was correct, she went on to say she could help us.. My husband and I was excited. she explained to situation about the process goes for the modification program, but left out the details that this would put our mortgage 4 mos behind to qualify. Had my husband and I know this we would have never agreed to do they loss forbearance program. After our 3 mos was over on this program, i was to call S.H back and let her know we complied with everything she told us..now she never answers the phone, after she urged me to call her at the end of my loss forbearance program which only lasted 3 mos. Now S.H will never call us back. Now we have to back pay all this money for the months we were on the loss forbearance program. Citimortgage wants to put us on a repayment program that is almost double our original house note. Who can afford that? we went from paying 774 a month repayment 1299 a month for 6 mos...back to talking about this rep name S.H she is like a ghost now, We are always been told, Your new rep is someone else. By the initals of L.R, but when I called her I was told she works in the umemployment dept of Citimortgage and she's out on medical leave for a while...What is going on no one can ever give us a straight answer, all they ever want to say is I SORRY, will sometimes sorry does not help, they all start out friendly then become rude people. They say yes your acct is current at one moment, then you receive a letter in the mail saying pay, pay, pay this and that amount. When you call they act like they have never heard of that certain rep, or they don't know why that rep told us our loan was updated when that is a total lie. We have called to speak with supervisor and they just want to transfer you to another dept instead of someone going above the call of duty, and doing a little foot work to find out what is really going on. I really just need a rep that is patience, understanding, and compassionate.. and who can give us some idea of. 1 why did rep S.H call and put my husband and I on this program when we do not qualify for the program. 2. Why she never call us back when we call her. 3. Why doesn't anyone knows whats going on with our mortgage. 4. Why do we have to repay all this money when they know we should not have been on loss forbearance program in the first place. 5. Why can't citimortgage come up with a better repayment plan if we or in debt with Citimortgage. Yes you can say im pissed off, but being pissed will now get me any where, I wont stop untill I speak with everyone I can think of including Mr. Obama himself on his loan modification idea.. Sincerely...another Diary of a mad black women

CITIMORTGAGE Sucks!!!

I live in Houston and one of the counties directly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Although I did not lose my home in the storm, I did have damage to the roof and yard damage (fence and trees). Also, I have been unable to work for some time. I called Citimortgage (CM) immediately after the Hurricane while streets were still flooded. I requested a deferment. Initially, CM required that I send all kinds of proof - copies of this and that. I sent a couple of letters and ended up on a forbearance, which I did not want or request. AND, on month 2, I am getting a default notice. CM bought my loan AND I HATE THEM. This is a company that received aide during the Obama bail-out. They are not a people company and should not be around!

Well get this-My loan was supposed to pay off in April, 2011-I have it set up that they take the payments directly out of my bank account. I received a call yesterday saying that I was past due. I argued with them that my acct. could not be past due, as they automatically deduct it from my bank account. In the end I sent a check by registered and certified mail yesterday for the amount past due. I received a call today that my pay off was twice what it was yesterday. I told them I had sent them the money yesterday by certified mail.I questioned them on why it was now double and they never told me. They just said they would honor what I was told yesterday. So my question is why double the amt and now they show I was 22 days past due and would not take it off my credit report. Oh! MY address was changed due to 911 enhancement and they did not have correct address.

We were told we could modify, then denied. We were told we could do a forebearance, then denied. We've been approved and disapporoved so many times for so many programs my head still spins daily. There is a class action suit - http://cases.milberg.com/citimortgage

CitiMortgage horrible service

We had a house fire 11/2/2009, had to send the insurance check to Citi. We had problems finding out where to send/fax/call as there is no phone number available. Got paperwork back for some vague reason, it took until April 2010 for us to get the initial 50%. Several more inspections, numerous delays, paperwork wrong or not submitted. Now we are ready to move in and get the final inspection. requested it on Nov 5, 2010. This time I was told there was a $35 fee. Sent that on Nov.8. Then received call that hfee had been waived. It is now Nov 17 and I am still waiting for my inspection. Today's follow-up call tells me the inspection had been cancelled due to me not calling the inspector to set up a time. So sometime between when I was on the phone with them at 8 last night, and 11 am this morning, they cancelled the inspection. What is so frustrating is that I HAVE NO OPTIONS.

CitiMortgage missing payments

This is not the first time but when I saw that my mortgage payment was not cleared at my bank on the 15th when it was mailed on the 5th I called or tried to call Citimortgage. After hours trying to get through and then getting through and not understanding what the person was trying to tell me I was Livid. I asked to talk to someone in the US and they said they would transfer me and they would hang up. Then you have to wait on the phone for another 30 minutes or more to get another person on the phone. I spoke to about 6 different people and this is what one of them said. That the post office said they have my mortgage payment...COME ON... I was nervous because I gave this person my social security number and all kinds of information and thats the answer I got. Then another person was nice and said lets give it one more day...and WOW the check appeared. This company is the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with. I am going to remortgage as soon as I can.

Dont agree to another, hey did me the same way and it put us futur behind on the mortgage. I had to get VA involved, the first modifaction the rep didnt tell us we had to sign papers. Se tols us we should here something back in Dec o9. Well we didnt, I called and found out we were never in a program in the beganing and we were behind from 3600 to over 5000 in Dec. So we finally was put in a modification in Dec and signed the correct information and we told there would be a lump sum of almost 7000 due in Feb/Mar time frame. We no answer again so we called in March, then we were told we took ourselves out of the program because we were looking to finance through someone else. Like I told them who would refinance use when we are so far behind now. Well I asked for the bottom line which included late fees and all so we could pay and get caught up. Well we were told it was 4200, and as I explained we were told it was going to be almost 7000. Well we were told they couold put us in a repayment plain and we declined, so we paid them the 4200 which we were told but found out in May we were still 4500 behind. The rep gaves us the wrong information and now we are looking at a forclosure. We had to get VA involved, and it has been proven and noted on our account we declined i on the 15 but they put us in th program on the 16 anyway. But for months we were tod we accepted it, with all the different groups involved now the can see I've been calling since May until Oct and we didnt agree to it. Now they are trying to find out why they put us in it anyway, what I am trying to say is, find someone to take a look into your situation because it sounds like they are trying to do the same thing to you. The more you agree to all these modifications and the more they say your not approved the more you willowe them. Send them the information in certified mail so someone can sign for it, keep copies of all you sent and the day you sent them.

CitiMortgage poor customer service

1. I received a mail from my original mortgage lender-Citi Mortgage at the beginning of November, which stated they sold my mortgage to Nationstar and I will be contaced by my new lender. None of the terms will change.

2. I did not receive any official written document from Nationstar un to Nov 10th. I only received a phone call from Nationstar customer service rep. who was trying to persuade me to make phoe payment only. With so many fraud, Nationstar does not seem to understand it is not a good way to start business with NEW customer.

3. I later went on Nationstar web site to verify details and realize that there will be some convenience charge if I agreed the phone charge during previous phone call. With the grace period expiration day (11/16) approaching, I immediately check into on-line payment options on Nationstar site.

3. The payment options are confusing. Under Payment opiotn of "Auto-Pay Direct Debit", it links directly to Western Union site. However, when I checked FAQ section to make sure no convenience charge involved, the setup method of the same "Auto-Pay Direct Debit" becomes -printing the form and send to Nationstar Attn: ACH Processing. Confused by the 2 different direct draft payment directions, I called Nationstar customer service to get clarified. Unfortunately, I called twice but none of the reps can answer my question. The first rep. thinks the convenience charge will be waived if I setup recurring payment through western union link under "Auto-Pay Direct Debit". The 2nd rep. insisted to follow the mailing method, which will take 30 days to get setup and the grace period will end on 16th, which is only 6 days away from today.

4. It is understable that Mortgage firms will purchase and sell debits to each other regularly. However, this transaction is really sloppy-there is no consideration of customers. My Nov bill was issued by Citi Mortgage, but Nationstar stated that the payment shall be made to them while offering confusing payment options/direction and no bill was received so far. My new account number with Nationstar was only informed by the customer service on the phone tonight. It occurred to me that all payment options on Nationstar web site involves some kind of convenience fee except check mailing. The "Auto-Pay Direct Debit" option shall be free of service charge as a common sense, but it is very unclear if there is a fee or not if I follow the link and process through western union? Have Nationstar trained their reps using their site and talk what they know instead of repeating the training manual? I spent more than 2 hours tonight to verify this loan transaction and my payment options, but still have no conclusion. I am very disapointed about both firms' inconsideration.

First impressions are lasting ones and Mr. Pooper, oops, Cooper has failed in my opinion. My mortgage was transferred from Citi to Mr. Cooper with the 11/01/2017 installment being owed to Cooper, not Citi. My bank has electronic funds transfer with Cooper I made sure to include the new Cooper loan number. Cooper received the payment 11/02/2017 but is telling me they didn't receive it and that it is late. I sent them a screenshot of the electronic funds transfer confirmation from my bank and they still say they didn't get it. HERE WE GO! If my company provided similarly poor service to customers, we would be fired and sued in a heartbeat.

I too had my mortgage sold to Mr Cooper. I was notified today (10/17) that it would occur 11/1. Too late to get a loan to pay it off with another company. Read pages of horror stories about Mr. Cooper ( name a coincidence ? DBA Cooper and DB Cooper). Suggest anyone considering doing busines with Citigroup or getting a credit card thru Citibank give this a thought. Will they sell your account too?

I'm having similiar issue. Citi mortgage transferred to nationstar. The didn't pay my hazard insurance and it was late. This is paid by the mortgage company and they never paid it, then I got a late fee, and they still didn't pay it, now my homeowners insurance might be cancelled! How do we stop this? How do we get out of this?

We have been long time customers, having our mortgage with citimortgage. Never late on a bill. Happy. Suddenly we get a letter saying our new mortgage company is Nationstar. Why citimortgage sold our mortgage to them I don't know. But it's been a nightmare with this new "lender" - claims they are the best at debt collecting and bankruptcy. WTF? They have triple billed us just to make sure we got our bill. When you call them, you reach someone in a foreign company with minimal English. Now this Nationstar is changing their name to mrcooper.com. mrcooper.com - are you ### kidding me? I want my citimortgage back. Why did they do this? Did they do this to EVERY mortgage client? Is citimortgage going out of business? It's like we went from Nordstroms to Kmart. Is this just a ploy to have us refinance?

I have had the same issue. I was falling behind on payments and the best I could do was make the payment on the last day in cash at the branch. I have reciepts to prove it but i still have 4 30 day lates on my credit and now I am in the load mod process and am looking into a class action law suite for everything they have done. My letter to the CEO and my attorney:
I have reached out to an attorney, not a loan mod attorney..a real attorney, because I do not know what else to do. Throughout this process I have been told foreclosure proceedings would be postponed while in the modification process, then I receive a notice of foreclosure. On the notice it says a representative contacted me 6/7/2010, that is a bold faced lie. I EMMEDIATELY tried make a payment and they would not accept it. I was then told there would be no sale date while in the loan mod process, and I now have a sale date, and they still will not accept a payment. I have been told for 3 months now my loan is “locked” and its Citi’s error and they are working to fix it. I asked if it’s not fixed by the sale date then I lose my home and they said YES. I then went into the branch for help and was told to try another modification program, so I did but only to learn that I NEVER qualified to BEGIN WITH for the original loan mod program. I have been lied to, hung up on, I have been given hoop after hoop to jump through and I have jumped. Citimortgage has without a doubt FAILED to make any attempt what so ever to help me avoid foreclosure. Funny thing is, my home has value. Maybe it is in the best interest of Citi to foreclose. I wonder how many homeowners they have foreclosed on while in the modification process, I wonder how many of them had value in their homes. My aunt is experiencing a run around as well. Her husband having lung cancer is not a hardship according to Citi…their home has value.

CitiMortgage unfair late charges

Citimortage is a company of bloodsuckers. Lost my job and asked for help through modification, etc. and they refused to help. They keep charging late fees on top of the already assessed late fees. I am paying what I can and have trimmed every part of my budget to make payments to them. i need to stay in my house for sake of 3 kids but they are not helping! I am not asking to be excused from paying mortgage, just give me 6-12 months to get back on my feet. I should really just go and shoot the place up but I don't have money for bullets because I owe so much in late fees. I hope all the rich folks at Citimortgage are enjoying their millions while the working class shovels their ###. Have a nice day!

I know exactly what you are going thru. My husband was diagnosed with a progressive lung disease in March. He no longer can work, in which he was employed for 30 years. Because of this unexpected illness, we ran out of our savings in August. We wanted to withdraw from his 401K for mortgage payments, to hold us over until we could get SS disability. I needed a letter from Citi, with the amount we owed to send to 401K to prove hardship but they refused. Instead, they tacked on late fees for 3 months and then started foreclosure proceedings. We have the money in 401K but they refuse to tell us the amount we owe. Instead, now there is attorney, legal, foreclosure, insp, late and misc fees tacked on. I call everyday to resolve this and they end up disconnecting me. This company should be shut down. They are a scam! Although we cannot afford an attorney, I will do everything possible to see this scam company thru.

CitiMortgage modification scam artists

Complaint similar to many previously noted. I intentially stopped making payments as we entered the modification negotiation process being told that there was no risk of foreclosure because we were in an active modification and the payments would be rolled to the end of the loan. The modification was to be done on both first and second mortgages, both held by Citi. Submitted all documents as requested by the deadlines stated and then received notice that the first mortgage is now in foreclosure and the second has already been charged off to the tune of around $4o, 000. I was lied to numerous times about the foreclosure and the charge off being told there was no risk! Trying to stop the foreclosure now so that my family with our eight week old granddaughter living with us can stay in our home. After reading other posts here, I am sure that they will do the trial period thing and then deny me later. This form of organized crime must be stopped before we are all victims. Please help!

These foreigners are scam artists. I have battled them for years. I have caught them I'm lie after lie. They continue to manipulate the common person. I doubt it will ever change. If us common folk were lobbyist on the local level, they would throw us in prison for bribery and corruption, yet they make big bucks doing it

CitiMortgage loan modification disaster

When does it all stop!

I have been on three separate modifications for a total of 18 months-
Feb. 09 through may 2010; and to make matters worse, we were just denied. Citi lost our paperwork 6 months into the processs, removed us from their citi mortgage mod. And placed us on the hamp; all the while we were good borrowers (Making our payments on time, jumping through hoops giving them everything they'd ask for even when we knew we just sent it the previous day) being compliant so we wouldn't lose our home. And what do we get in return? Offered us a forbearance of a downpayment that was ridiculously high and a monthly payment that we couldn't pay if we had 4 jobs! What citi mortgage is doing to its borrowers is scandalous and something needs to be done! We all post our coplaints here, what next?

I feal your pain, I also have been dealing with them for over 2yrs. now. My fees have doubled. I went to common pleas court Pro Se, and that was a total joke. The attorney never even let me plea my case in the mediation. All paper work, hardship letter and documentation required by courts was not even looked at. I know have court date Jan. 2011. Not sure what will happen then. I offered to pay $13, 000.00 Sept. 21, but no one would accept payment. All I was told was I had to pay $15, 000.00. Then in mediation the total to pay was over $19, 000.00. Of course I need to fill out paper work for the 5th time and send in once again. What the heck, I'm trying to work I don't have any time to be doing More paper work. What happened to the last 4 Mods?

That same story here, although I've had only two forebearance agreements, so far. I called for a pay-off amount for the first agreement, paid it, then pulled a letter out of my mailbox about a week later saying I was in default because of partial payments made during the original forebearance agreement, along with additional late and administrative fees. Two days later I get a second letter from citimortgage threatening foreclosure and siting a bunch of different numbers, but still insisting I pay the bottom line.

Since I had been dealing with the internal citimortgage staff assigned to work the forebearance and modifications, I tried to get hold of them to find out what was going on and got only a recording saying there was no one available and to call back during their regular staff hours. You get the same message at any hour you might call that number, or any other number I have for the forebearance staff. If I speak to any other 'customer service' representative, they talk like they have no knowledge of either of the agreements. I've asked to speak to supervisors, but no one has called back.

I've asked for payment histories, but when I've finally received the 'history, ' several weeks later, their accounting system seems to apply fractional payments, made over multiple months and is almost impossible to follow and doesn't even resemble my payments, or the pay-off amount I sent. I was told all payments had to be full payments, except those made to the staff working the forebearance agreements, and partial payments held the forebearance agreement only for 6 months, then you had to make good the money you were in arears. But I haven't been able to talk to anyone in the right staff, and all others seem clueless about any kind of forebearance agreements.

The new twist is that now they are saying acceleration of payments will start on October 10, 2010, if I don't bring the account current. The letters now seem to have a third bunch of numbers which are unrelated to any numbers I have seen before. I have no idea where they came from.

I haven't received an actual bill from citimortgage for almost a year now. I just keep getting these letters demanding more money. For what? So it can go down a dark hole just like the last money I sent? Its bad enough that 6-month agreements with a balloon payment at the end of the sixth month weren't going to do those of us caught in a two-year recession much good, anyway, but at least be able to articulate what has been agreed and what hasn't been agreed to over the term of the forebearance.

I had told the modification staff, that from that date forward (which was back in April, when I paid off the first agreement) I would pay the home insurance and taxes from my personal accounts, they should no longer keep an escrol account. They agreed, since the accounting problem wasn't going away. So, that day in April, I paid my six month premium for insurance. What do I get in the mail about a week ago? A refund of my six month premium. The insurance company says citimortgage was insistent about paying it since they maintain an escroll account for my mortgage! I'm at a loss for what to do about this. It's not a problem I've dealt with before, but its sure eating a lot of my time, effort, money and sanity at a time when these people said they were trying to help. At the same time, I think its they who need the help.

CitiMortgage home owner assistance

I was current on my mortgage and like many in this economy saw some trouble on the horizon. I called Citimortgage attempting to defer one payment or something like that. They told me of a wonderful homeowner assistance program that consisted of making 80% of your regular payment for 4 months then a balloon payment for the difference at the end. They also told me that since i was paying 80% it would not be reported as delinquent on my credit report. After doing everything they said to do EXACTLY like they said to do it, (including actually having to intentionally not make my payment and letting it become 1 day late) they ended up reporting me as [protected] days late on my credit report. Now with super low rates I am stuck with citimortgage with no hope of refinancing. The least they could do is hug me afterwards or give me a reach around... Do not use this program. They will lie to you and tell you whatever you want to hear to collect for the company.

CitiMortgage lost payment

Citimortgage lost of mortgage payment of mine in December of 2008, i have spent countless hours on the phone with them trying to get the matter resolved, and it is still lost, 21 months later.
If you can imagine the 3 stooges startging a mortgage company, it would be CitiMortgage, that is if they also enlisted some help on the phones from India.

CitiMortgage remortilization

In February of 2009 I started the process of getting a loan modification because like most of us I had a reduction in pay and planning 6 months in advance knew I was not going to be able to keep up my mortgage payments. I started by filling out Citimortgage’s hardship affidavit and sending them all of the appropriate documentation. What started as a simple process has since become my worst nightmare. First Citibank kept losing my documentation, so I kept resending it. Then after months and months with no word from Citimortgage my financial situation deteriorated even further. Still I continued to make my mortgage payments in full and on time. This of course meant I was charging necessities on my credit cards driving me further in debt, but I did not want to neglect my responsibilities. Then in one of the many conversations I had with Citimortgage’s loss mitigation department, I was convinced that I should sign up for a plan, where my mortgage payments would be lowered for a period of three months. Within this time I was told that the remortilization would be completed. The problem was that if it was not I would have to make balloon payments to make up for the reduction and then some. I did not want to do this because I knew that if it didn’t happen within the three month time frame I would not be able to pay the ridiculous sum of the balloon payment in the end.
I should mention that I have two mortgages with Citibank. When I applied for a mortgage for my house I took a second mortgage to pay for the down payment on my house. Sound familiar?
I know I should not have enrolled in this 3 month program, but at the time I was told by the Citimortgage representative that it was the only way to get a remortilization, and if I didn’t (which I refused twice already) then I would be at the bottom of the list and it simple would never happen. They told me this. At this time knowing making my next payment in full was going to be extremely difficult I opted into the plan. Of course as I expected three months came and went and I was still waiting. Now Citimortage was looking for the balloon payment which I didn’t have. All this time I had continued to make payments every month 1 week early.
Next, I ran into some financial trouble and made 1 late payment on my first mortgage. The next month I had some extra money and caught up on my 1st mortgage except for the balloon payment and paid everything on the second including that balloon payment, making me current. Then Citimortgage made me reapply for the hardship affidavit, I think for the 4th or 5th time and put me into another program with a reduced payment on my 1st mortgage only. These payments were to reflect what I would be looking at after the re-mortilization, however they would no longer look at my 2nd mortgage and I continued making the full payment on that account. This was at the end of the summer last year and again was supposed to last another 3 months and they assured me that legally it could not last longer. I was also told to make the payment early and by phone to ensure they were received on time.
I was also told that they had to re-finance the 1st mortgage and only after could they even look at the second. For the last year and a half my only goal has been to refinance my mortgage by merging the two. I am fine paying the 1st mortgage, it is the second that puts me over the top.
Up to the current: after waiting and making my payments every month early and by phone (which they started charging me $20.00 per payment, so $40.00 each month) they bumped me out of the program May 21st 2010. I only found this out when I called to make my monthly payment and I couldn’t. I should also mention that during this time I’ve had about 10 “specialists” handling my account, none of which will return a phone call and believe me I call. The last person whom I did get a hold of told me that they might be able to do a “normal” refinance, but I had to resubmit my paperwork for the 6th time. She also told me that I was bumped out of the program because I didn’t qualify. Why do I all of a sudden not qualify, when I was told that I did 10 months ago and my income has since reduced again? The calculations for disqualification she gave me were also incorrect, but she was adamant that they were.
I am at a loss. Currently, I get calls from Citimortgage 3 times a week demanding payment. Then there are the companies Citimortgage hires to drop off unmarked letters to call them regarding my account. I really feel like I have been swindled by Citimortgage. If I had never been coerced into the payment reduction with the balloon payment, I would have been fine….struggled but I would have made it. Now, my credit is ruined (they have reported that I am outstanding at least 6 months, though I have never missed a payment) and I don’t know when I will ever be able to pay the $7, 000.00 balloon payment they say I owe. Not to mention the reduction in payment over the past year does not come close to $7, 000.00. What do I do now? Walk away from my house? Stop paying? I feel like I’m dealing with a loan shark. Citimortgage has me in a position where I have no choice, but to pay them this exorbitant amount, which they know I can’t or foreclose on my home. It is like they want to be in a position where I have to stop paying them on purpose. I don’t know how else to look at it. I thought they were helping me and instead they are ruining my financial life.

CitiMortgage service

My husband and I have been working on refinancing our home. This started shortly before 6/21/10.. all the paperwork filled out and faxed to Citimortgage, and to date, we are still needing to send more information, and not receiving feedback in a timely manner. I have to keep sending requests on 'where are we in the process?' I've taken too much of my work time, on the phone with them, scanning records to them, faxing to them, and it's been one thing after another. This day and age, I can't believe this antiquated process and lack of customer service. I wish we would never had started to refinance!

CitiMortgage loan modification disaster

Dennis & Cora Nelson Dallas, Ga June 2010
I am a customer of CitiMortgage. In 2007 my husband suffered a severe stroke which left him totally disabled and unable to work. I was also not able to work due to having to provide 24 hour care for him. I begin the loan modification process in August of 2009. Our regular mortgage payment was $927 per month. Citimortgage required that we to pay $733.39 for 3 consecutive months in order to receive the loan modification. During the period I was required to provide bank statements, disability letters, letters from SSI, and etc. At the end of the 3 months the modification had still not been completed so once again Citimortgage requested the same documents as before, the bank statements, Disability papers, SSI, etc. For the next following months, it was repeatedly the same thing. Each month I was being told Citimortgage was missing something and need it to be faxed again. When we spoke to representatives we were told that they could not provide us with last names out of fear. I’m not sure what there is to fear if you are doing the right thing. This went on for about 9 months. Our loan was being shuffled around from one contact person to another. Each time we were told someone else was handling our loan now and the documents need to be faxed again. Then I would check the status of the loan in the system and it would say the loan was in review and I would have a decision in 3 days. Of course, 3 days turned into weeks. Finally in June 2010 after sending the same documents over and over again and spending money that we did not have to have documents faxed, we received the modification decision. We have been paying the $733.39 on the first of each moth for 10 consecutive months. My husband receives $2473 each month in SSI and disability. We were told that Citimortgage has to add $500 to this income although this is additional income that we do not receive. After all the turmoil we found out that our mortgage would be reduced by $33.11 of the regular payment of $927. This amount is higher than the $733 that was required during the modification process. Our new modified payment is $893. We are being told that we have to sign the new modification documents on line and the documents can not be mailed to us. If we choose not to sign the modification agreement online we are being told we will be delinquent $5000. We have not missed a payment on our mortgage since we started this process. This entire process has been nothing but stress and a complete nightmare for us.

CitiMortgage mortgage department

It is very common these days for homeowners to find themselves in an upside down situation in regards to their homes. We live in the state of Florida where the housing market has been on a continuous roller coaster downhill. 4 years ago my husband and I purchased our first home (a town home). We saw that the housing market was climbing up and up. Being first time buyers, we were afraid that if we didn't get in then, we wouldn't be able to afford a home at all. So we OVERPAID for our home. 2 years ago when the market went down, we saw a good opportunity to buy our second home. We purchased our second home for more room and more privacy because we were a growing family. We figured we would be able to sell our home and walk away even, not in the hole. Foreclosure after foreclosure and short sales in the town home community, the property value of our home dropped 75%. We currently rent the home out for only the interest of our mortgage. We have an arm on the loan, it is considered an investment property (which is quite comical) so no bank is willing to help us and we can not refinance b/c it is not worth enough of the loan out on it. Citimortgage has been making 6.5% interest on our loan for the past 4 years. We have never missed a payment and we would like to do "right" by the community and keep the home in good standing. We loose money every month on the property now and when the principal of the mortgage kicks in, we will not be able to afford the home. This brings me to our problem. All we need Citi to do is lower the interest rate and lock that in for 30 years. With the economy being the way it is, my husband and I can not risk taking a hit on our credit by not paying the mortgage or short selling it. If he were to lose his job and have to get another one, they look at credit and they could decide not to hire him b/c of our financial decisions. I am so frustrated with Citi b/c they want us to be in trouble with our mortgage before they help us. They would rather us short sale on the property then to help good customers. I do not understand this. With a resolution that seems so easy to fix, why are they not willing? I really need some one who can help, I have called every mortgage company I know and have called all the "help" agencies that Obama put into force for this type of thing, but I get the same answer all the time - you are making payments on time and can afford the payments. Why would anyone help you? Well our problem will come when our arm expires and principal kicks in, then we will not be able to afford it. That doesn't take a genius to see. So again, what is the big problem of simply adjusting my interest rate? Citimortgage is unwilling to help their customers and they are eating a huge profit right now. Please do not ever use this company to finance your home. They are bad news.

I agree totally with the complaint. Due to my husband retiring and the economy affecting his hours at his part-time job, we could no longer afford the mortgage payment for our house (after paying for 10 years). We asked for and received a loan modification - although they would never send us a letter stating this. Then in June, 2010 we received a letter stating it was time for the modification review and send in the requested papers by Sept. 16, we received another letter stating the deadline was Sept. 24. Meanwhile, my husband received one phone call on his cell (during working hours) which he forgot to return. On Sept. 15 he faxed all the papers to Citi and received a confirmation. When he called to make sure they had received the papers, he was told we were already taken off the modification because he did not return that one phone call and the man had gotten upset determined we didn't care about our house and closed the modification. My husband called the next day and made arrangements to send in one month's payment by Oct. 28. Of course this was not in writing. Next, we recieved a letter advising that we could do a deed in lieu. Then came a letter advising us to do a short sale (after painting and doing any other work it needed to sell at a good price). Within a week after that letter, we received a letter stating that we were behind $10, 000 and would have to pay it by Nov. 11 or our home would be sold. Why the rush? Why is Citi so concerned with our loan while stating they are 45 days behind processing short sales? Could it possibly be because the homes in our area (block) are selling within 1 - 2 months far more than we owe? Would Citi do that to one of its long time customers? Of course! And the $10, 000, well it's true we have missed some payments in the last 10 years (an average of 1 a year) which were to be put on the last of the loan making it take longer to pay off (at least according to the papers we have). Which we also had to pay for each time it was done. We also owe late fees due to these. And, according to what we can gather by their letters (which were few and far between) they added the part of the original mortgage payment that was not paid during the modification. Can we apply for another modification, since we are both on fixed incomes and nothing has improved as yet? Oh no, the man who was offended because we did not return one phone call (according to his secretary) has the final say. I would advise no one to go through Citi. Of course we didn't really, they bought our loan from a smaller mortgage company. If you receive a letter stating Citi has bought your mortgage do everything you can to change companies. Oh, in case you're wondering our fixed loan rate (9%). We've also asked about refinancing, they can't help us because we don't make enough money.

CitiMortgage bad service - bad bank

We have a mortage with Citi, with an equity in our home of $48K, have never missed a payment, great credit score. I called them to check on a $10 line of credit, when John goes into this sales pitch of "refinance, no problem, give me the info and we'll get started, close in about 30 days." The endless paper work was never right, no one answers your phone messages, but they did sent out an appaiser and changed $470 none-refundable loan processing fee to my credit card, then denied the loan after 72 days. This is not a bank that should be doing business, I can't imagine how they ended up with so many bad loans they are so picky about who gets a loan from them. American Security and Trust Bank has refinanced my mortage and given me a line of credit.

Stay away from Citimortage...go to a real bank or credit union
