CitiMortgage failure to service loan modification

I have read some but not all of the complaints on here regarding CitiMortgage and have a similar story to share. I am fed up with a large corporations failure to service my loan modification after 15 months of back and forth crap we had agreed n a reduced payment (360.00 reduction) and we have been making that payment for 8 months now. GUESS WHAT? I get a phone call from them (CitiMortgage) last week to tell me my loan Modification has "TIMED OUT"! What the hell does that mean? I have to start the process all over again and they want all the back monies (THEY told me not to pay) (360.00 a month) first to bring it all current...
I'm putting my e-mail on here to collect as much ammunition as possible to possible start a class action suit against them...I, FOR ONE AM MAD AS HELL AND FRANKLY NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE...After talking to our niece who is a big wig for another major bank (I HAVE TO PROTECT HER IDENTITY AS WELL AS THE COMPANY SHE WORKS FOR, FOR OBVIOUS REASONS) and she filled me in on the NEWEST SCAM these banks and mortgage companies are running...It will shock you but most likely not surprise you...

SO HERE'S MY E-MAIL, FILL MY INBOX WITH YOUR STORY AND I'M GOING TO FIND A HOT SHOT ATTORNEY...YOU DON'T HAVE TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANY PERSONAL INFO AS YOU ALL DON'T KNOW ME FROM ADAM, JUST YOUR STORY AND A WAY FOR ME OR MY ATTORNEY TO GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU IF WE DO IN FACT HAVE GROUNDS FOR A LAWSUIT!

Time for us little folks to fight back!

thanks,

Sonny

Dennis & Cora Nelson Dallas, Ga June 2010

I am a customer of CitiMortgage. In 2007 my husband suffered a severe stroke which left him totally disabled and unable to work. I was also not able to work due to having to provide 24 hour care for him. I begin the loan modification process in August of 2009. Our regular mortgage payment was $927 per month. Citimortgage required that we to pay $733.39 for 3 consecutive months in order to receive the loan modification. During the period I was required to provide bank statements, disability letters, letters from SSI, and etc. At the end of the 3 months the modification had still not been completed so once again Citimortgage requested the same documents as before, the bank statements, Disability papers, SSI, etc. For the next following months, it was repeatedly the same thing. Each month I was being told Citimortgage was missing something and need it to be faxed again. When we spoke to representatives we were told that they could not provide us with last names out of fear. I’m not sure what there is to fear if you are doing the right thing. This went on for about 9 months. Our loan was being shuffled around from one contact person to another. Each time we were told someone else was handling our loan now and the documents need to be faxed again. Then I would check the status of the loan in the system and it would say the loan was in review and I would have a decision in 3 days. Of course, 3 days turned into weeks. Finally in June 2010 after sending the same documents over and over again and spending money that we did not have to have documents faxed, we received the modification decision. We have been paying the $733.39 on the first of each moth for 10 consecutive months. My husband receives $2473 each month in SSI and disability. We were told that Citimortgage has to add $500 to this income although this is additional income that we do not receive. After all the turmoil we found out that our mortgage would be reduced by $33.11 of the regular payment of $927. This amount is higher than the $733 that was required during the modification process. Our new modified payment is $893. We are being told that we have to sign the new modification documents on line and the documents can not be mailed to us. If we choose not to sign the modification agreement online we are being told we will be delinquent $5000. We have not missed a payment on our mortgage since we started this process. This entire process has been nothing but stress and a complete nightmare for us.

My boy friend has been getting a similar "run around" since last July '09. He can give more detail, was told his case was unique, that Citi actually lied, screwed him in writing right out front. I believe that there are several things that were obvious and "out in your face" illegal that they have done, and should be sued for the damages this has caused. He has never missed a payment, did this preimptively, did everything he was told, and they really really screwed him, I think they should pay. It would take me too long to tell you everything right now, but it's pretty bad. Completly illegal, that I can see, and I'm not a lawyer.

CitiMortgage here is email for ceo of citimortgage

My complaint is with Citimortgage's trial modification. My story is very similar to everyone elses on this site. We were in a trial modification for 5 mos, then denied. They wanted their money back immediately or they were going to foreclose. Couldn't get a straight answer from anyone at that company, transfered to a million different departments, hung up on, ect.
My story is only different in that I'm in a chapter 13 bankruptcy, so they are now dealing with my attorney. I didn't think it needed to go that far, but now I'm grateful that I don't have to deal with them anymore!

Here is the email for Citimortgage's CEO Vikram Pandit:

hi, i am under the suffering to talk to many citi mortgage representatives over and over again with the same issue about the principle balance. I paid $102, 000 for my additional principle on 11/2/17. They applied to November, December, and January mortgage payment and tried ti apply the rest of them to my principle. The way they do is to get more interest payment earlier than the due time. Then my bank sent again automatic payment for November on 11/3/17 They applied for January again. it is so mess up. They put down plus and minus over and over again so the 25 lines of confusion calculation added on online record which i cannot follow up. I called so many times about what I originally wants to pay with lots of waiting time but still didn't solve the problem. Also, some of the fund was paid with my TCF bank check but they said they cannot locate my account so it was holding for 15 days without noticing me. How come they cannot locate my account for the check I use and it has enough money. Please can you correct my issue as soon as possible so that i may sleep well. My account Number is #[protected] and [protected].

I have got such a big run-around on an issues that should be a simple fix. I submitted a check for my mortgage received by citimortgage on 3 July 13 (Phoenix, AZ). The check was submitted to my Credit Union on 7/5/16. I had NSF at the time. On 7/6/16 I called and made a payment over the phone. I have a conf number. I asked repeatedly if the check (which was reversed) would be re-submitted for payment. I was assured that the phone payment covered everything and the check would not be resent for payment. I have now received 2 NSF Notices from my Credit Union in the amount of $64.00 in fees, becaues citimortgage tried two additional times to have the payment made. On the 7th July 16, and again on the 11th of July 16. I spoke to a "manager" "In the Philippines"... which upset me once I found out I was calling the Philippines .. God Bless AMERICA ... I am now being told I have to submit a written statment asking for MY MONEY ($64.00) to be returned to My account at the Credit Union. This is UNSATISFACTORY. I should not have to go through all this to have money returned to my account, especially when I was "assured this would not happen".. (Probably was talking to someone in Africa).. I will be searching for a different mortgage co. And will never again recommend CITIMORTGAGE to ANYONE.

Hello Dijmart, Brock D Smith, Paula MD, Mayers09, et al;

I routinely look for posts to answer in hopes that it will not only bring optimism to those homeowners and borrowers in distress but also some basic information to assist in fighting the banks that are "too big to fail" but yet don't appreciate the bailout that we provided in their time of need. The debt collectors like Ocwen and Nationstar are simply just ### but they can be beat at their own game too just like the big banks can be defeated.

I too have had dealings with CitiMortgage on behalf of a client that experienced the same abuses that you all have experienced. He was granted a trial modification and made all his payments on time (they even drafted an extra amount that he did not dispute). Once the trial was complete, they told him to keep paying the trial amount but that no permanent modification has been granted. They further tried to hold my client accountable for trial payments after the trial was complete stating that he was "past due". His representative was named Jandry Fernandez and he was so abusive that even the managers agreed that his actions were in violation...but they never took him off the file even after violating the cease and desist countless times. We began filing complaints to both federal and state oversight agencies and what do you know, the full modification finally showed up after flexing our muscle!

You all have rights and it appears that CitiMortgage not only violated my client's right but yours as well. For more information on your rights, visit the CFPB website or feel free to contact us here at END Consulting to discuss your options and rights. Check out our daily debt show called "the daily complaint" where we target a complaint daily to review in an effort to provide solutions for distressed homeowners and credit card holders at www dot ENDDebtShow dot com.

I also had a mortgage through Citi. I lost my home to foreclosure in April, 2012. Five days before we were to vacate, someone changed the locks on the house and garage. Before I could find out how to get in to finish moving, they had a company come in and clean out my house and contents, saying the only things left in the house was "debris". The garage was full of car parts to a '96 Mustang, tools, etc. The writ that I was served stated specifically they (Citi) was responsible for removal and STORAGE. It was taken supposedly for disposal. I have faced all the same problems everyone else has; the major run around! After all the battles and time, I've been told my account is closed and they did nothing wrong. Silly me! I'm thinking going into my house early and disposing
of private belongs sounds like theft!

I've contacted an attorney about this and he agrees this is all very wrong, but he says we could easily spend the same amount I'm trying to be reimbursed on legal fees. He says you rarely win when going up against giant corporations. I'm sick of all the BS and just want compensation so I don't have to pay out of pocket AGAIN to replace all our things. Would LOVE to see them brought to justice!

Here's an email we sent to the CEO Offc. Unbelievable the run around we have received on this file.

I am writing you today in hopes that you will be able to provide the much needed help I am seeking to finalize a short-sale that has been delayed. While I have been working to find a resolution that will satisfy all lien holders and allow the family to move, I have encountered many obstacles within CitiMortgage that have led to numerous delays. It is hard to believe that documents are being lost or misplaced but I can think of no other reason why multiple departments must ask for the same documents over and over again when they are all working on the same file. Surely the constant need for the duplication of documents is not only unnecessary but inefficient and confusing. Additionally, further requests for additional information have continued to be made by separate departments that do not apply to the process further delaying the completion of this short sale.

The subject file/ loan #: [protected]-7 has been bounced back and forth from the Citi Short Sale Department, the Citi Bankruptcy Department, the Citi Recovery Department, back to the Citi Bankruptcy Department, and now is at the CitiMortgage Executive Office. This is a bankrupt account that has been charged off by CitiMortgage, we have an "Order on Motion to Avoid Junior Lien on Principal Residence" signed by the bankruptcy judge and is unopposed by Citi. We were told by the Citi Recovery Department that with this notice the borrower would not owe CitiMortgage any additional monies. In turn, we asked for a satisfied lien release. We were then transferred back to the Citi Bankruptcy Department where representative Shaconie Bell demanded additional information and forms that did not apply to this file. She was incredibly rude and in no way helpful. After Tweeting about the "run around" I have experienced, the CitiMortage Tweet department (Social media team) asked me to call the CitiMortgage Executive Office. I have done so and representative Ras Brantley has been professional and helpful. He has taken over the file and stated that the BPO is over a year old and would need a new BPO. I stressed that this account is an active bankruptcy and a charged off account and that the first and the third lien holders have approved the short-sale. I asked him to please take this file to his VP for review and exception. He did take the file to his sales manager who only took a day to decide to decline waiving of a new BPO even though there is no reason for Citi to insist on further delays for such a file. So, while this file has been dragged along at a snails pace for a month by multiple departments it suddenly is stopped by a sales manager who made this decision in a day. Please understand that I am in no way suggesting that the file should have sat on the sales managers desk but with so much to consider I am concerned that he did not care to take the time to truly review the file and even more concerned that the file never did make it to a VP.

I am asking for a moment of your time to review the file, loan #: [protected]-7. The only logical solution is to finalize this file with a waiver of a new BPO and allow CitiMortgage approval without a new BPO.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

I really dislike Citi mortgage and would never gone with them if I knew they were going to be this disappointed with their business. My complaint is with Citimortgage's trial modification. My story is very similar to everyone elses on this site. They wanted their money back immediately or they were going to foreclose. Couldn't get a straight answer from anyone at Citi, transferred to so many different people, gave me phone numbers of people that they say I needed to contact, and I never got an answer back, just left voicemail after voicemail and til this day I still have not gotten any response back from anyone. They are quick with taking you to foreclose and taking you money, but when you need and answer and some type of help that is totally out of the question. This is one of the worse experience I have ever had with Citi Mortgage. I do not know how they stay in business with so much unsatisfied clients.

To file a complaint with the Federal government go to www.FTC.gov- it is the Federal Trade Commission. The more complaints the FTC has on a company (CitiMortgage) the more likely they are to follow up.!
And people when you're referring to the company or other people/a group of people the word is "their" not "there".

I have been going thru this modification crap for seven months now. I have had three different "specialists" and they all ask for the same information over and over and over and over and over...see where i'm going with this. Finally ask for a supervisor and she said they DID HAVE all the information they needed and my account was turned over to the "underwriter" for approval. NOW, my "specialist" will not call me back or answer my emails, so I contacted my previous "specialist" by email and she did answer me and said they needed more information...ie. Form 4506T EZ (which supervisor admitted they already had) and more bank statements (which they had them all at the time they said my account had been turned over to an underwriter, but my May bankstatement has JUST NOW become available and my account was suppose to have been turned over to the underwriters nearly a month ago! A month ago they had ALL my bank statements from October thru April ! We have to stop these criminals. I have contacted my state rep., and gerneral attorny. I am going to contact any and all media that will listen to me. This is a bunch of crap, OUR government gave them BILLIONS that BILLIONS is with a B, to help people like us that are trying to do things right, and companies like Citi and Bank of America are stabbing us in the back! If anyone knows a solution to this problem or knows someone to contact that may actually be able to help, please let us know. Thank you, lmbstory@hotmail.com P.S. the CEO of citimortgage is now Sanjiv Das'. If you know how to contact him or have an address for him please post it.

I agree with you on this one. I heard the same thing and they wouldn't do a modification with us unless we went on this so -called six month program, which we are barely able to meet each month with our medical bills, and this will be okay, maybe, in september which we have to reapply, and then if they don't approve, which I heard they usually don't, they will foreclose anyway. It has been a nightmare with them but worse with HSBC. Our second mortgage. Separate category which I'll complain about in a minute.

CitiMortgage statigically deceiving

This company is very deceiving; for the people who ended up on unemployment like myself, and tried to get on board with the Home modification program they wait 8-9 months later to put your information into a calculator (which only takes a few seconds) to tell you that youd do not qualify because you need at least 9 months of income to get onto the program-is very misleading. They are the white collared crooks who have underminded helping the unfortunate Americans who have fallen victim to this economy. There is also another program that was recommened, but wait a minute... only a few months left on unemployment and guess what? I'm not qualified to participate! So where is the help from this people that we initiated a 30 year relationship with, because employment will come one day soon I pray, and I will remember all the crap that I went through with this company. It's all a matter of time, before they "Citimortgage" is found gulity of some type of foul play! To my fellow homeowners- We must expose them with our personal experiences, and hopefully someone in government will take the intiative to investigate them "Citimortgage!

CitiMortgage foreclosing on ill customer/veteran

I have been calling CitiMortgage since January trying to talk to someone from Loss Mitigation Department to work out a repayment plan or get a modification on the house loan. I have been contacting creditors and CitiMortgage because I got sick from a head tumor. I had to take weeks off for Family Medical Leave from teaching. I just got radio-surgery for the tumor in mid-May. On June 4th, 2010 CitiMortgage sent me a letter that my house is being foreclosure and the sale date is July 6. I am still in the six weeks period of healing from the radio-surgery. My summer monthly pay is temporarily down to $1, 100. I was waiting so CitiMortgage would develop a loan modification or temporary forebearance. Instead they sent the letter saying my house will be sold to highest bidder on July 6.

Only personnel from collections called me, but they could not come up with repayment plan; they told me that my case was being sent to different case workers in the Loss Mitigation Department. No one ever from Loss Mitigation called, but I did send copies of my salary & bank statements as part of an application for a modification plan. I was denied twice a modification plan on the basis that my income was too low. Duuuuuh! that's why I called them in the first place, because I had to take Family Medical Leave from teaching because I was sick. Also, I told them that I did receive a 3-year contract from my job.

I have been in the home since 2004 and never paid late until I got sick February 2010. Finally, I am a lady veteran from the military so part of the loan is VA. This mortgage company has no soul; it would rather foreclose on a home then work out a plan to help the customer.

Thank you...I feel that I can relax and focus on healing. They stopped the foreclosure and scheduled sale of my home. The executive response team immediately offered me a forebearance. Basically a reduced payment amount that I feel comfortable paying. I can pay the reduced amount for four months. Then they will discuss repayment options for the missed months.

You're right, the executive response team has been very cooperative and compassionate. I intend to repay everything I owe after I'm cleared to return to work. Also, once cleared, my short term disability insurance will pay a lump sum, but that may take 2-3 months. I intend to use those funds to catch up on the mortgage. Even if I have to file bankruptcy, I still intend to repay them everything I owe. This has just been a major even in my life because of the serious illness. It just feels wonderful that I won't be kicked out at a time when I'm ill. I have a chance to heal, get on my feet again and repay what I owe at a later date when I'm better.

I will pray for you and your husband, you're now on my prayer list.

Good luck & blessings,
Msvet

I appreciate your response because you clearly wrote to help me. For years I paid on time, until I got sick. After head tumor treatment, the neurosurgeons have not yet cleared me to drive or return to teaching yet.

Finally, after months of trying to get someone to call me back, The Executive Response Team is offering me options where I can pay a lower amount for a few months. Now I can relax and focus on healing and whether I need another treatment in the summer before school starts. Then I will return to educating many students in science. Once I earn regular paychecks, I will be able to pay back the few months I missed due to illness.

I try to be a person of excellence helping others where ever I go. My neighbors are glad that I can stay in my home. When I returned from surgery, lightning from a storm struck a roof next door. I quickly rang their door bell even though no car was in the drive way. Also I used my water hose to flood the fire with water until the fire department arrived. A lady and puppy were in the house and came out. She did not know the roof was on fire. I also helped minimize the fire damage. All my neighbors know that I care about people and our community.

As soon as I get better, I promise to pass on the kindness you gave to me to others. May God bless you tenfold for your kind words and helpfulness. You made a positive difference in my life and I will pass it on to others.

regards and thanks,
msvet

Hey stealth, you're taking yourself way too seriously. I have found 39 pages of complaints on CitiMortgage at http://consumeraffairs.com/ site. What I wrote to Dijmart was accurate. The bankruptcy lawyer also said the same information as the VA representative.

The same day, a respresentative from CitiMortgage actually called me. She discussed VA options that were not previously disclosed to me. She spoke for about 45 minutes about options. She listened to how I was not satisfied with the lack of customer service. Read for youself her email after we talked...

"It was a pleasure to speak to with you today. What I would like to do is put you on a special forbearance through September to give you time to get back on your feet. Let me know what you think you can afford. After September we can look at a couple of options.

1. A repayment plan would add some of the defecit on to your payments each month for a specific length of time until it is paid back.

2. A VA Modification would add the defecit back into your existing loan and extend the term. The interest rate would be determined by VA at the time of the modification. This would then make the loan current and whatever the new payment amount is would remain as your payment amount for the rest of the loan.

Thank you, " She let me know that they work with the VA and is willing to help (even though not required). So I am thankful that finally after months of waiting, I am receiving communication and assistance.

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I was just contacted by a Veterans Affairs Loan home mortgage representative. CitiMortgage previously told me they can not offer me modifications because I had a VA loan. He was not happy about the fact that CitiMortgage just tried to foreclose & sell my home without offering a forebearance or loan modification. He said it was not the only time he heard negative reports about CitiMortgage. He will see what he can do to help my case.

Oh I started calling them back in January when I started missing work days. I asked for the telephone number for the loss mitigation department and I pursued modification. I faxed paper work for modification twice. The first time, I was told that I was not delinquent. I was also told to tell the collection people that my case was being review for loan modification by their loss mitigation department. So I re-faxed the data with one of their delinquency letters. I kept calling and asking who my case worker was. I was given one name, then another, then another and finally a fourth. Each time I called and asked to speak to the case worker. I even filed a second application and faxed updated salary & bank statements. No one from Loss Mitigation ever called me.

Only collections people called and I kept telling them that loss mitigation department was reviewing my case. The collections personnel were very nice and reassuring. Each time I talked to anyone, I wrote down the date, time and information. I have copies of everything I faxed. The second time I filed over the phone and still faxed the data. Later I received another letter denying me for modification saying my earnings were too low.
Eventually, I got treatment and still called them to update them. It was apparent each time I called that the "left hand does not know what the right hand is doing". The company is too large and it is not able to focus on customer assistance. It's just business to them, not people.

I kept records of everything and went to see a bankruptcy lawyer. As a homeowner, I offered to send partial payments, one or two months payments, but the collections people told me to wait for the loss mitigation personnel to work out a plan. It has been a lot of energy used that I need to heal. I just do not have any more energy to spend with the mortgage company. I have responded to their foreclosure letter, but will have to take charge of my situation via bankruptcy.

Oh I agree that paying is the main goal. I tried to send in payments but was told by collections people to wait until a caseworker contacted me. They said the caseworker would offer some type of repayment plan or modification or even a reinstatement amount. So since it just business, I will be forced to declare bankruptcy to protect my interest. Since it's just business to them anyway, they won't care.

***WARNING*** Please read this if planning to use CitiMortgage ******
Citimtg is more compared to a title loan company than a mortgage loan company! If you are forced to file chapter 13 (repayment) bankruptcy, make sure to keep very good records and all correspondences from Citi. (You will have to make current payments on time and can only put arrears into chapter 13).
I filed bankruptcy to stop foreclosure because ABN-AMRO wanted to modify my loan for over $5, 000.00 in fees (that included about $1500.00 in (2) missed payments) still I was foreclosed on while in chapter 13 by ABN-AMRO. The house was sold and bought, at an auction by ABN-AMRO, ten thousand dollars ($10, 000) was added to the loan in fees and profit by them. A consent order by the Bankruptcy court was filed and signed, but the fees were never removed from my loan. The loan was taken over by CITI. All this happened while I was deployed in 2006! I've tried every since to get this removed, multiple calls to who knows how many different departments, even writing to the CEO. On top of this, since we came out of bankruptcy in 2008 no payment has been missed, only last week to receive a letter stating we are now in default and owe over $4700.00 plus $2, 230.00 in "delinquency related expenses". What the crap kind of charges is " delinquency related expenses"? I've herd of late fees and legal related fees to foreclose, but this is the icing on the cake for a loan shark. Is this the kind of company Fannie May uses to service its loans? I've had it with this company, I will report them for fraud as soon as I get my lawyer working on this ridicules claim, we are "in default". I hope anyone who reads this will not use this company, it is nothing but a greedy, blood sucking, fraudulent bunch of thugs looking for a way to steal from people, force people into bankruptcy, or loose their property so it can be resold for their profit. It is hard to believe our tax dollars went to help companies like, this stay in business, by bailing THEM out. May God have mercy on the greedy and help them change their ways, before judgment. I have peace in knowing we have repaid them what we owed in late fees and arrears, paid them on time since bankruptcy. Guess they need a judge to tell them that...Again..
If this is how the rich keep the poor even poorer, we should pray harder for them!

The peace of Christ be with you!

No problem!
I ran into my problem with Citimortgage because last Sept my husband lost 10 hours of overtime a week (that he had for years), then was reduced to 32 hrs. I also have multiple sclerosis and had an exacerbation that lasted 7-8 weeks. My employer needed me to come back to work or quit (I hadn't been there for one yr, therefore not covered by FLMA).

We called Citimortgage and explained our problem they stated we had to miss one payment to be eligible for the loan modification program. Well, we missed Oct payment, then had reduced payments for 4 mos, then my husbands work picked back up and I went back on SSDI. Citmortgage called to update our info and said we no longer qualified and to start making regular payments again. No one ever mentioned we would owe Citi the money back.

So, last week the collections dept called stating we owe $4900 and to pay immediately or they would move to foreclose. I was stunned! I spoke to the loan mod office and they said that the paperwork we signed said somewhere in the packet that we'd owe the money. Okay fine, but we don't owe $4900, more like $2100...
They said we were in default for 4 months of payments. WHAT? ...No that's WRONG!

No one would listen or help me... I think they all thought I was a liar. Anyways, I found the email I posted online and it's the only thing that got some "action" from those people. They think they can just say you owe this and they can get away with it, every time I faxed my cancelled checks they conveniently didn't receive them...

Not only was I dealing with the amount due discrepancy, but what, no repayment plan, just foreclose if not paid immediately? Well, we're in a chapter 13 bankruptcy, so they sent our loan to their bankruptcy lawyer and now their negotiating with our lawyer and I don't have to deal with calling them anymore, but feel very bad for those who still have to communicate with them...The people at the executive response team are in my opinion the only ones that seem to be able to truly help. They seem to have more authorization to "DO" something to help you.

Anyways, I hope you feel better soon.

CitiMortgage pmi removal

We own a Single Family home as an investment property. The mortgage on this property is currently held by Citimortgage. We purchased the home two years ago for $200, 000 and took a loan for $180, 000. On July 7th of 2009, we sent a principal curtailment of $70, 000 and also a check for $500 to have the loan re-amortized. Along with the check, we sent a letter asking for the PMI to be removed, since our loan to value would have automatically reduced dramatically.

We received a letter from CitiMortgage stating that an appraisal is required to remove the PMI off of our loan. Well, we accepted that and paid $385 for an appraisal. The appraisal came back lower, as expected in this market, to $185, 000. We are being told that the PMI can’t be removed since the home value depreciated. This seems like a ludicrous argument to us. Our current appraised value is $185, 000 (appraised by your bank recently) and our loan amount is $110, 000, which means our loan to value is under 60%. We are utterly confused why we cannot get the PMI removed considering the significant reduction in loan to value.

p.s. This loan was originally from ABN AMRO.

We have contacted my local elected official to look into this. But there has been no progress so far. They have filed a complaint with "Comptroller of the Currency, Administrator of National Banks". The status has been "You case is being reviewed" for the past 3 months.

CitiMortgage mortgage modification

Citimortgage has been working on my mortgage modification for at least 8 months. Initially they had me resending the same paper work over and over again for about 3 months. Finally they said they have everything and that it would be an additional 30 days. In March the modification still was not final. In April their was a notification on the website saying it would be complete in 3 business day and now on May 21 they are saying that they need additional documentation..

I have a home mortgage on a house that I built in 1997. My mortgage was with Principal Residential until it was bought a few years back by Citimortgage. Immediately our payments went up, which we were able to afford still but due to my having to change jobs and my husband's hours being cut we have gone through all of our savings just trying to keep up the payments...then in 2008, yes, 2008 I started the modification process with Citi...needless to say, we have been denied for the HAMP program. I have a credit counselor with CCCS who has stepped in to assist me and I am now trying to have Citi look at the loan for any other kind of modification...if not, Citi wants to short sale my home...this is outrageous, they will not work with you, they don't know what they are doing, the customer service is non-existant and you can't understand the people that you are talking to.

I believe that Citimortgage is utilizing misleading, deceptive and predatory lending practices. Does anyone out there know how I could refinance with someone other than Citi even though the mortgage shows us behind due to all the charges and fines they have tacked on to my loan? I was never behind on a payment in my life until Citi got ahold of my mortgage, thanks for nothing.

I began our loan modification process with Wachovia back in Oct. 2009 and to date we still haven't been able to finalize it. I find it absolutely stomach churning that every single god given financial documentation was provided to them (within 24 to 48 hours after Wachovia's request), and they still managed to delay the review process by claiming that the fax was never rec'd, the date was missing, the name was misspelt, Snoopy ate the mailbox, and Garfield, the cat, jumped on the stack of papers and his lice/fleas ate the documents!...seriously, my 5 year old son has better (and thankfully less) excuses then the Reps at Wachovia.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but quite frankly, I've had enough. Wachovia shouldn't have accepted the bailout money from the gov't (which is really our hard earned tax dollars) if they had no intentions on bailing out anyone other than themselves! I've sued Wachovia in the past (before they acquired World Savings Bank) for extending a prepayment penalty fee and I had the entire matter resolved within 1 week...and mind you, I am not an attorney, never went to law school, and I sued completely on my own. Now, that being said, I took some of my own steps yet again for the 2nd time in hopes of getting what I was promised when we initially went through the phone interview: (1) 2% fixed interest rate; (2) lower monthly payment that included my escrows; (3) keeping my home (especially since we put 20% down payment on the purchase price back in 2005). I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will succeed for the 2nd time but it's never a guarantee!

I think that if we all ban together (picture the Boston Tea Party) and everyone writes or files a complaint to the addresses listed below, then they will have no other choice but to listen and comply. My filed complaint alone is completely useless unless it's backed up by everyone else who is experiencing the same difficulties. Below you will find the steps in filing a lawsuit and complaint in your own County, but please keep in mind that all we can do is try our best and hope it'll work:

1. gather all docs and any fax/mail/email/fed ex confirmations sent to Wachovia;
2. organize in accordance to date, all phone calls made to Wachovia, whom you spoke with, and the topic covered during that conversation;
3. go to your County's website or google "how to file a complaint in _____ County". Once at the website, you can download the forms you need to complete in order to file a lawsuit. Be watchful of the Complaint you submit to Court, because there may be 2 different lawsuit forms: (1) small claims (typically used if you are suing for less than $6, 000); and (2) civil complaint.
4. If you do not have access to the web or your county does not provide this online, you can visit your county clerk and ask for the forms directly.
5. in addition to filing your own lawsuit, file a complaint online with the Department of Banking and Insurance and also with Thrift Supervisory.
6. Lastly, once you have a copy of your filed lawsuit at hand, along with all the other online complaints you filed, feel free to drop a few lines to the following people at Wachovia:

Teri654,
I have been in the process with Citi since November 2008! Took a big pay cut from work, folloed their advice on a reduced payment for three months, was told that would qual me for a remod. 90 days later I'm told I need 90 days more of reduced payments. I'm thinking this does not seeem right, not to mention that NONE of their service agents have a damn clue what they are talking about. Call five time-get five different answers. I was told I qualed for the HAMP. Processed for it, hit the 90 days and was told...Oh..you need another 90 trial period. After all that crap I'm told, oh sorry you don't qualify because of a screw up in THEIR interpretation of my income-just crap! Then told we can do an in house remod-OK. Now I'm filing BK but still trying to get the remod. I"m now told-Congratulations you qualify for the in-house remod. I say great how does that work with my BK application. They say no prob just wait till your in-house remod finalizes and you can go forward with the BK. Loan finalizes- call the BK dept. and they now tell me I'm mistaken..if I file the BK they will CANCEL the new remod terms and the loan will revert back to original loan terms! I'm sorry- am I missing somthing here besides my sanity! I'm ready to torch the house and walk. This is a crime on Citi'S part, but who is going to help me! Absolutly no one at Citi can be trusted, not ONE knows what they are talking about. I don't blame people for just walking away! I'm actually trying to save it, but I may loose it in the end.

CitiMortgage refinance rip off

I have been in refinance with citi morgage for 4 months... Today I received a call that we are being denied because the credit card companies for two cards they asked me to close (American express and chase), will not provide a letter stating the payoff amount and the per diem. We qualified just fine... Have our current mortgage with them... Have outstanding fica scores over 700 both me and my husband, but are being denied because they credit companies won't give them the per diem. Meanwhile the credit statements reflect that I closed the cards and have the daily percentage rate but that is not good enough... They need the per diem in letter form. Now I am fighting to get my $455 back and for them to write letters to these two companies reinstating my cards. What a rip off this has been.

We have also been going through refinance hell with Citimortgage. Our FICA is 849 and we have been with this company for many years. On top of that, they came to us to ask if we wanted "to take advantage of a refinance at a lower rate". Now it's been 3 months and every call and email we get is for MORE information for the "underwriter". All they want is more pay stubs, more letters from employers, more "previous address information", evey home we have ever owned etc, etc. So enough is enough we have now refused to provide them with anymore information! They can approve the refi or not my payments are not that high anyway, yeah to save $200 a month would be nice, however my time is worth more, and we are tired of wasting time with "underwriters". Oh, and this is not the first time we have told a bank to "shove it!" when they used this kind of delay tactics, and really thats all this is, they are waiting for their interest rate to go down so they can make more money! We just got a call from our credit union last night asking us if we want to refinance with them for less, no points, no closing, no appraisel free, nada! Works for me!

CitiMortgage loan modification nightmare

Upon losing my disability, and worrying that I would fall behind until my appeal case was complete I contacted citimortgage to be a "pro-active" customer. After explaining my situation to the rep. I was urged to do a loan modification.

The rep. Told me that the only way I could be approved for a loan mod. Was to stop payment for 3 months. It is important to note that when I made this call I had not been late on any payments, but wanted to maintain this mortgage, as I have fought hard for the last 8 years to improve my credit score.

I explained my concern to the representative but he assured me that the non-payments for the next 3 months were necessary for the modification, and that it was strictly an in-house procedure and would not be reported to the credit bureaus.

We received the modification, but soon found out that it was indeed reported to the credit bureaus. Our credit score dropped dramatically, and I have appealed this, called countless times, been told different excuses, and made to feel like I was lying! Citimortgage is responsible for bringing my credit score from good to poor, and I am now subjected to high interest rates when applying for credit.

I am so disgusted with citimortgage, as they have set me back to a place that will make it impossible to access another loan until 2015. We had hoped to sell our home, now we cannot. I could go on and on about this joke of a company but it has had a huge impact on my health. The reps. Lie about their names, or they have no concept or training when you are unlucky (Most times) to discuss your situation with a polite but useless operator in india. Most of the americans I have spoken with are obviously past caring about the plight of citimortgage customers and are extremely rude. There have been many times I just hang up when I hear that certain tone when our conversation starts. I don't need sarcasm in such a serious matter.

I now just want to walk away from this home and screw citimortgage! (i don't think I care any longer if my credit score drops further, as this has been an enormous stress that has taken its toll)

We have been through the same horrific situation/experience with Citibank. They ruined our credit and have kept us in this aweful cycle of "loan modification." They give you no information and no support documentation. As a matter of fact their reps contacted us and sucked us into this bullsh&! and we were never even late on a payment, not once. In an effort to be proactive, we got scammed by Citimortgage. This sucks! All this stress, work, money, etc for nothing. We might just stop paying and wait the two years for the foreclosure and save money in the meantime for our next home. They can't do any worse to our credit so why not...

CitiMortgage escrow increase for monies already collected

CitiM0rtgage notified me March 19, 2010 that there was an escrow shortage for my account, #[protected]. I challenged the shortage and resultant increase in my mortgage pament (from $1387.77 to 1471.27 or 115.64). After speaking with a customer service rep twice and faxing my challenge letter three times I was simply told that my escrow was short. Asking why, the rep read to me the Escrow Account Disclosure Staatement. Frustrated I asked why the escrow was short. My taxes and insurance Had Not changed (increased) since 2006, therefore my payment should not change.

She then asked me did I change insurance companies in 2009. After initially saying no, she said that The Hull company/USFG was changed to Kemper in 2008. Then I remembered, CitiMortgage did not pay my insurance (that had been collected for said paymenyt from escrow). CitiMortgages failure to pay my insurance resulted in cancellation of my policy through Hll. I was uninsured for nearly a month when I found this out. I immediately called CitiMortgage and demanded to know why my escrow had not paid my insurance. Their answer was vague and unconvincing and apologetic, yet they failed to get back with me with a resolution. I was forced to find a new insurance policy through my insurance broker.

As a result in CitiMortgages failure and shortcomings with regard to collection, credits, debits and disbursment of my escrow funds has resulted in double collection of funds for insurance, not to mention jeopordizing my well being and my single most valuable asset, my home and contents due to their negligence, disregard and lack of oversight in the process of standard business practices.

Note: when my mortgage was first purchased by CitiMortgage, my payment Doubled, yes doubled and that the next year, 2006, most of that increase was refunded. No explanation other than [their] increase in estimated withholding was mis-estimated. CitiMortgage, at least in my case, has a history of "mis-estimation" mis-allocation and mis-collection of escrow funds. Oh, I meant to state than my mortgsge is an FHA loan, and has never been late or in arrears at anytime since it's June 1, 2005 inception

citi bank sent us a letter as of may 25th 2010, saying our mortgage payment will be $900.00 a month more, so from $1600.00 to $2500.00. that is craaaaaaaaaaaazyyyyyyy. i am planning to freaking sue them, because i read that this happened to others as well but not with this much increase. they were saying our escrow account is $7500.00 short.
can someone explain this if u have an idea?

CitiMortgage warning: post hamp denial lies and trickery

Warning to every citimortgage homeowner who receives a hamp denial.

I was originally informed that if I were to be denied a hamp modification, the difference between my monthly hamp payments and my regular mortgage payment (Which amounted to over $4000 in my case) , would be put to the back of the loan.

The day I was called by citimortgage to be informed that I was denied my hamp modification, I was told by the representative who called me that I had to apply for an extension, in order to put my difference to the back of the loan. In order to qualify for an extension, I had to make one full month's payment to bring the account current. So I reluctantly made a full month's payment (This was april 30) and applied for the extension.

Few days later I was told I was denied the extension because the reason for the extension was not valid (The first banker wrote that it was due to a job loss). I talked to a supervisor, and he said the reason that should be put is that I had just been denied the hamp modification, so had to apply for an extension in order to put the difference to the back of the loan. In order to apply for the extension, (It was now may 2) , I had to bring the account current yet again, but making yet another months' full payment.

3 days later, I get a call from a citimortgage debt collector asking me to pay my outstanding balance. I explain that I applied for the extension, and she tells me the extension has been denied, and that she wanted to work out a payment plan for me to make another months' payment by the end of may. Citimortgage was clearly leaving hamp denied homeowners to the deep water to swim with the sharks.

Frustrated I called citimortgage yet again, only to be told that there is the ability to put the hamp difference between hamp payments and regular mortgage to the back of the loan, that it is done automatically by citimortgage if they have not heard from you for 15 days, but that because I had brought my account current, I was deemed to have automatically opted out of the program. How does this make any ###ing sense please? I was basically forced to bring my account current in order to apply for an extension to put the balance to the back of the loan, only to be then told that because I brought my account current I cannot now have the balance to be put to the back of the loan.

So guys, if you get denied hamp by citimortgage, make sure you ask for the procedure that allows you to put your outstanding balance at the back of the loan without having to apply for a silly extension that is just a mere trick by citimortgage to make you pay your past due balance while under the trial hamp!

I am not a person generally to write but I remember just months ago I was looking for help so I decided to share my story. I was down to a one person household with 3 children. I was having a hard time paying my mortgage payment. I was so depressed after multiple times of trying to reach out for help with a loan modification and I kept getting denied. My friend recommended me to thedreamfinancialcom and I am so greatful! They helped me through everything. I was so discourage and out of options but they really help. The were able to cut my payment in half. And they even sat and listen to my sob stories for hours on end. If your like me and just are not build for a lot of stress it's not worth it. Let someone else get the job down for you. Well worth it. My Counselors name was Lauren.

CitiMortgage operates for the benefit of CitiMortgage--they are like magicians and are 'experts' in the art of 'slight of hand', half-truths, and deception. When I make a mistake, financially, I admit it, try to correct it, and start over, but in this instance, CitiMortgage was unfair and will go on, unpunished if people don't take the RIGHT steps.

Contacting CitiMortgage will do nothing but give you more of the same: the 'run around', empty promises, excuses, etc. Contact those that have weight and power and will MAKE CitiMortgage 'come to task': contact your State Office of the Attorney General--you can complete that form online, contact the Office of Finance and Insurance Regulation--that form can also be completed online, contact the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency--can be completed online. And finally, contact your State Senator--when I spoke with OFIR (Office of Finance and Insurance Regulation), they confirmed for me and then sent a letter to me, in response to my complaints, basicaly apologizing because there is no law in place to prevent CitiMortgage from 'doing what they do', so, as long as CitiMortgage 'makes a show' of 'attempting' to help, they fall within the guidelines. Our State Senators and other governmental agencies that regulate banks/mortgage companies need to be INUNDATED with letters regarding CitiMortgage so that someone sits up and takes a REAL look at what is going on. They send these government agencies 'cleaned up' details of their interactions with us but we have the 'down and dirty' transactions between us and CitiMortgage. No one will ever know, if we don't speak on it. I know everyone is tired but try contacting the Office of the Attorney General, OFIR, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and your State Senator---put action and WEIGHT behind your words. Let's get 'em! Yvonne cu7649@wayne.edu

Call NACA Kay they get results, before I went to them I've known of 5 families personally who was successful with NACA. The only reason I did not go sooner was because I have already paid $4500 to Paragon crooks and I did not want to give Citi a reason to delay citing confusion of who's representing us, so I had to give Paragon crooks their chance and allow it to play itself out if they fail to have fullfilled my part of the bargain so I could exercise that 100% money back guarantee they were offering. However, that did not do any good because they bail with people's money but it did help with the credit card co. Once i receive docs to confirm the offer placed on my web file at NACA I'll let you know but as far as I know it does include taxes and insurance because it stated PITI- Principal, Interest, Taxes, Insurance = $963.00 and I previously were paying taxes and insurance included into my mort. payment. How they did it was 40yr term@ 2% 807.66 PI-Principal/Interest and the rest consist of taxes and ins. and that is on 184, 000 principal out of 215000 previously owe to citi. some 30, 000 of that principal was postpone to a non interest incurring account to be paid in a balloon payment at the end or when we sell, also they forgave the $35, 000 worth of past due payments, escrow ( they were paying the insurance and taxes for the past 2yrs), late fees/penalties to make it work. The 56, 000 owe to the 2nd mortgage was forgiven/written-off. Info obtained from my NACA web file/ page servicer comments section and credit report. Hope my story helps and give hope to all. Do me a favor all who reads this never give up fighting and stay close to god, you will need him! Oh FYI if you do get forclosed on do not leave until the sheriff comes or the county recorder confirm the transfer out of your name, because the house next door was foreclosed and the guy and his son left but the bank kept the property in his name so not to be responsible for the cost (taxes, HOA, maintenace, etc.). All of this happened summer 2008 just before the market collaspe and I was still current on my home. I found out this info by complaining to the HOA about the weeds and holding the bank to the same standards as the other homeowners. HOA replied that it was still in the buyer's name and that the bank has not transferred it to them, so the buyer's is incurring back taxes, HOA fees, etc. and they told me when they find the buyer they will sue him and that they can't go after the bank because it is not in their name yet and not they responsibilty until they transfer the property. The bank is slow to transfer because inventory properties cut into they profits and when they find a buyer they expedite the transfer into their name and transfer it quickly into the new buyer's name. That house I am refering to sat a year before someone purchase it, think how much money the previous buyer is going to owe when they catch up to him. Yet another game they play so if I were you I would sit on that home until the sheriff comes. Then you know it has been transfered because someone's interested and a realtor need it vacant to have unlimited access. BEWARE people!

Does your mortgage include your taxes and home insurance? If so that amount is great for you, but not for us because we are going through the same thing and they didn't lower ours to 1762.00 from 1825.00. Please let me know?

God bless all of you, those citi crooks are going to burn in hell I assure you. Be careful out there and pray without cease. I do not know where to begin! So to make a long story short. My family, six children and I are facing foreclosure partly due to my own fault. We were financially sound a capable of paying our mortgage, entice by the moment of a possible US citizen 2nd revolution against the unfair, unjust, greedy system that mind you NEVER happened. Caught up in the moment we contacted a loan mod co. to only inquire about the possiblity of strategy default and the chances of lowering our monthly payment. Of course, they stated they can get it done for a mere $4500 and after calling the citi myself to inquire about a loan mod, prior to calling this crooked co., citi laugh at me and transfered me so others could laugh at me. I am not usually suckered easily but after citi's laugh a thon with me gave me focus. So we got in bed with this co. which never did anything, we started 9/2009, it is now april 2011 to give you a time frame. after several battles with that co. from me and others who where taken and several calls to the attorney generals office that co. close down and took off with everyone's money and is now operating in nevada. thank God I was smart enough to dispute it with my credit card co. which gave us our money back and charged it back to that co. visa account. my perfect credit history of never defaulting gone, 806 credit score gone! Did it to myself I know, listening to the wrong people. So what started out as a strategic default turn into legitimate need after losing my job in late 2010 witn twins on the way. Working with the banks myself prove to be fruitless, got appoved for a mod dropping the interest from 7.1 to 6 and only dropping payment by $10 a month due to tact on late fees/ penalties. have not paid since 9/2009 at the advice of that co. with $35000 of delinquent payments owe 269800, house worth $157000. living off of wife's income, my unemploment, food stamps, county health care recipients. I 've worked all my life, paid my taxes, never had to asked for goverment assistance. Ashamed at first but now I just see it as getting some of my tax dollars back, something to tell myself so I can hold my head high. I told citi to stuff the proposal up theirs, they came back with a forbearance offer of paying reduced payments. I always though forbearance meant no payment but interest still incur, silly me. told them to stuff that one too. had to let the home phone go due to the harassment, 25 calls in one day, isn't that illegal? after going around and around with the banks and auction date set for 3/1/2011 at the last minute they told me i was approved and they just had to verify our income that I told them over the phone, 3 weeks later was told we decline that if they where to give us 2% it would bring our payment to 700 and that's not doable and i told him it was very doable for us. he told me not for citi! they wanted to keep us paying at a certain level. more like the 1500 or above range which was what we were paying in the beginning. last effort we went to naca and discovered that our second mortgage was forgiven so all we owed was citi's 215000 portion. naca was able to get the auction date pushed back to 5/2/2011 while they work our file. after praying every hour like a muslim 4/15/2011 they approved our mod at 2% with a payment of $963.00, I'll take it. have not received docs yet so still praying it is one of their mind games and illusion, refuse to celebrate until I see the first statement. If it is true we went from $1950.00 monthly to $963.00. Pray for us.

We appled for a hamp modification in Aug, 2010. I called every week got a different story. Now they are saying they will start forclosure proceeding if we do not catch up on our mortgage. We have been making our monthly payment and it was going into an unappled funds account. When we started with this in Aug. we were only 2 months behind now they say we are 6 months behind. You get a different department and a different person with a different answer everytime. How can we get help? We don't want to loose our home.

CitiMortgage citimortgage, inc. complaints - home modification loan

I just received a letter from Citimortgage stating that my loan is in default and I must pay $10, 803.61 including $45.01 late charges and $142.50 in delinquency related expenses. This must be paid by 06/05/10, along with any additional monthly payments and late charges that fall due. WOW. So basically I was pushed into foreclosure by Citimortgage. I been making trial loan modification payments since June of last year. Since then, I been calling and checking up on the modification. Resending paper work over and over again. Paperwork that I sent in certified mail. (They would say we had a imaging problem maybe it wasn't image correctly.) I was originally told that I was to make these trial payment for six months to prove that I can handle the modification payments . Once I proved that I could make these payment without being late, the modification will be processed, to be final. See, In the beginning we was told the we already qualified for the modification based on the bill and income that we gave to the lady over the phone . The next step was to send in paperwork that would reflect what was given over the phone. The Underwriter would verify the paperwork against the information that had been give to the modification rep in the beginning. Now they telling us that we did not qualify based on the 31% rule. But I seen on the government modification site, that the rule is from 31%-38%. 31% puts use at the monthly payment we are at now, not included the stress of the bills we currently have. I was under the impression that the 31% formula was taking in consideration potential bill a person may have. If this is the case my bills are not included. I was also under the impression that one would qualify for a modification if they could not afford there current monthly payments because of hardship. This was stated on the modification form. This is EVIL to push a person into foreclosure. Why would you do this to people.

Dear Karim18 and other violated CitiMortgage customers,

The actions of CitiMortgage are not only inexcusable but repulsive as they are actually causing you to fall further behind on your mortgage after simply asking to skip a payment…the exact definite of Unfair Deceptive Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAP), which are forbidden in the industry! In my opinion, it is illegal what they have done to you and your solution should include, at a minimum, a lower rate or a principal reduction or a waiving of fees.

We routinely look for posts to answer in hopes that it will not only bring optimism to those homeowners and borrowers in distress but also some basic information to assist in fighting the banks like Citi that are "too big to fail" but yet don't appreciate the bailout that we provided in their time of need. The debt collectors like SPS, SLS, Green Tree, Ocwen and Nationstar are simply just piranhas but they can be beat at their own game too just like the big banks can be defeated. You CAN win this fight!

Thank you as I commend you for taking the first step in asserting your consumer and constitutional rights by complaining about the situation, both with Citi internally and beyond, in an effort to shed light on the abuse and encourage change. With that said, you have overlooked the key aspect to your fight, which is putting your objections in writing in the form of a proper QWR and attaching proof of your consumer and constitutional rights that have been violated; they have certainly been violated in this case since Citi has not only refused payment but also lied about the status of your payment, payment options, and more (FDCPA violation).

A QWR is an integral tool in getting what you desire and all of the aforementioned mortgage lending and debt collection companies MUST answer your Qualified Written Requests (QWR); if they refuse then you take your fight to all the regulatory agencies outside of Citi that assist in fighting for your rights like the CFPB; it’s a shame that these more than profitable and previously bailed-out companies engage in this type of consumer abuse.

My firm and me would be more than happy to educate you as to how to fight for your rights. My firm routinely seeks out complaints online so that we can educate as to how to fight back on our weekday show called "The Daily Complaint” where we review a complaint and how to tackle it successfully.

We reviewed your complaint on the show if you would like to listen, visit www.TheDailyComplaint.com

You can learn more by visiting the CFPB's website and becoming educating about the rights afforded you under the FDCPA, Dodd-Frank and RESPA via the CFPB. Here is a link to the current rules that went effect in 2014 and stronger rules are forthcoming in 2015: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/newsroom/consumer-financial-protection-bureau-rules-establish-strong-protections-for-homeowners-facing-foreclosure/

In the event you have further questions, you can contact me via email or via the website or via phone (full contact information is below) as I would be more than happy to contact Citi on your behalf or with you to determine the status of your loan as well as what options exist for you as a borrower/homeowner!

I had a family emergency in 2012. I was in the bi-weekly program and asked if they could suspend the one payment, due to emergency. They said I could do a stop payment and then call them to start up again. I called and was told that I would need to send in a letter asking to be placed back into the program(that I paid $300+ dollars to enter). Still no deduction, so I call again...this time I was told to send in a $10 check so they could see the account was active. I did, it was cashed and again no bi-weekly start up. Now I was like 2 and 1/2 months behind(which is odd since I was in bi-weekly which resulted in a extra payment)...now I start getting letters asking for entire owed amount. I dont have that due to being the only income in the home. I look into the loan modification...go through the entire paperwork crap. You send everything requested, but then it somehow gets lost or is missing paperwork. While going through the paperwork process, the foreclosure process is started. Now any money I want to send in is not allowed. I finally get fed up(10 months of nothing). I call and voice my displeasure with the loan modification process and how I am about to lose my home, because of their lack of honesty...boom next day(I am not kidding), I get the option to make the 3 monthly payments(which was higher than my original payment) . I make the payments and now recieve my packet. I owed $156k, now they are starting a new 30 year loan taking the fee owed from 10 months(putting it on top of 156k) making the mortgage 173k. I bought my home for 160k, its basically as if I never lived here and am buying a new home. I called all these so called help places and most can not assist because I started a modification...the system is broke and no one will help with this bs scam. I wish I never got involved with these people all they did is push me further behind on payments.

You all will be glad to know that the federal govt. Is conducting a foreclosure review. Everyone who was screwed by citi, will receive a settlement check, as well as the possibility of stopping current foreclosure, and even getting your home back. It will never compensate your losses, but it is a start.

I am really sorry to hear all the headaches that people are having with Citi-Mortgage. As soon as the Modification was announced we called starting the looooong journey which eventually led to being accepted into the program. Along the way we experienced all the things everyone has talked about. Numerous phone calls, forms to fill out, forms lost or not entered into their system, right hand not knowing what the left is doing, etc. All I can say is DON'T GIVE UP! You have to stay on them and do everything they ask and follow up to make sure they do what they say they're going to do. When it came to the final decision we were first denied and then we we're put on hold and then, magically we were accepted. Our monthly payment was reduced by $800 which has kept us in our home for now. We had our interest lowered to 2 percent and 10 years added to our loan. Supposedly we will have $1000 taken off our principal each year if we stay in the program for 5 years. I'm sure our credit is down the toilet because of all of this. We applied for a small loan and were denied. Again if you can hang in there despite the frustrations do it, it may keep you in your home. briguy

Citi is a scam. I don't know if they are purposely telling lies or if they have hired minimum wage people who don't know what they are doing and are trying to have one person do the work of five people. I'm not sure what is going on but whatever is going on, it needs to be looked at quickly because people are losing, not only their homes and good credit, but their minds as well in this process. Citi is a complete JOKE. They don't need to be in business.

No problem... I posted his email on another site and a lady had received a call from the executive response team the next business day, like I did and they stopped her foreclosure and they put her on a repayment plan for what she owed from her trial mod period.

Let us know what happens!

CitiMortgage home modification loan

Long story short...I took a lesser position to stay at my company and reduced my income .. March/09 phone interview with citimortage, mailed back their compleated modification package, fedex W2s faxed whatever they wanted. June/09, My wife and I "DO pre-qual for home modification" 3 month trial period and told to reduce mortage 200 less a month.I called CITI in Sept/09 asking what the status is of the loan, I was told some one would call back.Oct 09 - Dec 09 still no call but we continue to make our reduced payment on time.Jan/2010 - Apr/2010 still no call. May/5/2010.I get a call from CITI to say "oh you were declined " (back in march 2010)Now they want $4, 995.20! Plus during this whole time citi reported my payments late to the credit causing my 3 credit cards to climb one (chase) to 29.99% and I had never been late with a any payments. We have been taken and may now loose our home.David AZ

Exact same thing happened here. It's a god damn shame these companies cannot keep their ### straight any still make millions. The people that should be fixing these problems created by citi employees are too busy playing golf making assloads of loot for doing nothing but draining the economy and the country's money. There needs to be alot more of "you're fired" happening and alot less of "oh I'm supposed to be doing something to deserve this assload of cash?"

We had a similar experience with them over the cousre of the past 12 months. NO ONE EVER returned a single phone call to us. They "lost" volumes of paperwork we filled out and faxed. then mailed to them. After one year
and countless hours wasted on the phone trying to find someone at Citi that speaks english, we were told that we don't qualify for their "assistance" program becuase our loan is not in default, but we also don't qualify to refinance because we had too many late payments. YET - when our payment is 30 seconds late, they call my cell phone 5-6 times a day. they SUCK. We have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the FTC.

CitiMortgage ham program

I live in Miami, Florida and I also applied through Homeowner Modification Program a.k.a H.A.M with Citimortgage in April 2009. The Bank put me in a trial period which was supposed to last for 3 months. However, the period lasted from June 2009 until December 2009. During the trial period my mortgage payment was reduced from $3, 079.39 per month down to $2, 064.33 per month. After 3 months, Citimortgage was suppose to inform me (the homeowner) if I qualified for a permanent mortgage modification rather than being in a trial period. As previously stated, they inform me after 7 months that I did not qualify due to my equity in my home. They stated that I had enough equity in the home and that I can sell it to liquidate my mortgage in its entirety. However, I only own one house and its my primary home. I always paid on time prior to the Trial Period and during my Trial Period. I never missed a payment. In December 02, I made my December trial payment of $2, 064 and days after I received a letter from Citimortgage demanding the amount of $9, 238. This amount derived from the fact that since I did not qualify for the permanent modification, they demanded the amount of 7 months of regular payments rather than 7 months of trial payment. In other words, 7 months of regular payments totaled $3, 079.39 x 7 months= $21, 555.73. But the bank collected $14, 450.31 which derived from $2, 064.33 time 7 months=$14, 450.3 which was sufficient to cover for 4.69 months of regular payments. As such, I needed to cover for 3 more months to cover for a total 7 months I was under the Trial period. As such, per their demand letter I needed to come up with $9, 238 (to cover 3 months) within 30 days from December 02, 2009. As you can imagine, I was in shock to learn that the bank had 7 months to decide if I was going to qualify, yet I only had 30 days to give them the money before January 02, 2010. In December 2009, I became unemployed. I used to work as a Sr. Credit Analyst for a Community Bank which closed its doors in Dec. 2009. I could not pay the amount the Bank demanded in 30 days. I called Citimortgage the second week of February 2010, to pay the amount of $15, 533 according to their February statement amount only to learn that my loan was in foreclosure and that my case was handled by an outside attorney by the name of David Stern in Plantation, Florida. I learn that this attorney was being investigated by the FBI and had a bad reputation all over the [redacted]s. So I had no choice than to hire an attorney (costing more money) to fight for my case and obtain figures ASAP from the law offices of David Stern. I went to see my attorney for the first time on Feb 22, 2010. I don’t understand how this Bank took me to Foreclosure if I paid according to their Trial period Terms an amount of $2, 064 until December 2009. In February 2010 Citimortgage stated they sent me to foreclosure due to the fact that the amount of $14, 450 only covered 4 months of regular payment and as such I owe them 3 months of regular payments automatically making me 90 days delinquent. Since my career has always been in the Banking Business, they have drawn my credit down the hills by lowering my credit score by 150 points, and stating that I am currently in Foreclosure. Now I am not only in Foreclosure but can not get a job as a Credit Analyst. Their action has created a lot of damage in my family, my person and my career. I am even trying to bring my loan current and they are taking more than one month to give me pay off figures. I believe, someone needs to help homeowners like us, who applied for this program in lieu of reducing their mortgage payment only to find that their credit score decrease by more than 150, the Bank puts you in foreclosure and you now can not get a job. This is not right and I believe, Banks such as Citimortgage need to pay. By the way, my attorney told me I will most likely end up paying Citi’s attorney’s fees (Fees for Law offices of David Stern) because banks these days can do whatever they want. This is the reality of our country. Also, David Stern file foreclosure, without notifying me in writing and this is why they want me to sign a waiver of foreclosure. Is this the price to pay for applying for a loan modification? Worst company ever! This is the 4th time i've tried loan modification with Citimortgage. They've lost paperwork, they've told me I was actually approved and I never got the paperwork and the deadline expired, another time the underwriters were writing up the loan and I was told it would take awhile, but when I called in to check, they said they had stopped work on it with no reason noted as to why and a new forclosure sale date was give. So, now the 4th time, I was told I could email the documents in. I did that was told it was all received and everything was there, then a couple days later I was told the docs couldn't be opened-maening the lady that said it was all there never looked at them. I then received a letter saying I had be given a months extension to get in paperwork or correct letters. When I called to check on this, I was told that they hadn't bothered to change the sale date even though now the sale date is a month before the paperwork is actually due. I asked them to put in a postponement on the sale and they say they've requested it(3times), but haven't heard back. I call and call...The sale is tomorrow and i am soooo pissed! Citi said they're waiting to hear from Fannie Mae, but I called them and they said this was up to Cite, not them! Citi told me to call the lawyers office handling the sale, so I did and they said the same thing as Fannie Mae-its up to Citi. Do they not know what they are doing there?-I am just about out of time. I was told the person in charge of my file will be calling me when she comes in, but she works the nightshift, so it'll probably be too late to do anything since the Lawyers office will be closed. i told the person I spoke to that and was told that there was nothing she could do. Maybe I can sue them for fraud or something-since I do have the letter they sent me with the month's extension...

I started a modification almost one year ago with Citi lowering my payments from $1900 to $1150. I was never late and sent paperwork that they kept requesting evey two months. Bank statements, check stubs, tax forms etc. Each time they said I should hear soon. Today I spoke to a woman who was rude to me from the first moment I spoke to her. I was making my payment as usual and when she asked me if there was anything else she can do I said yes let me know why this process is taking over a year and is there anything to expedite it. She responded by saying that I had been denied the HAM program two months ago. Noone let me know and this is the first I had heard. I said why she said for not sending in paperwork. I said I have sent everything numerous times and that was not right. I said is there anything I can do she said " Call your congressman" I asked for her name and she refused to give it to me finally she gave me her first name. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said thats not going to help you you are about to go into foreclosure and told me just pay 16k. I said if I had 16k laying around I would not have been in this situation. I finally got annoyed and ended the call. This whole program is bull and gets people in a worse situation then they were in to begin with. I guess I know have to hire an attorney and start the process all over again.

This is what happened to me:
-----------------------------------------------------------
In April 2009 I lost my job. I informed Citimortgage right away about my difficult. After making the regular payment for two more months, I was not able to keep that anymore. Citimortgage advised me to apply for their HAM program (loan modification program), which I did.

I was told that I would be put on a trial period for three months. During this trial period, they would lower my payment amount from my regular amount of $2660 to $1223. I was told that if I made all trial payments, they would make it permanent. I started to make the trial payment in September 2009, as they requested. During the trial period, I submitted all the documents they requested. Every month I called in to check my status, only to be told that they were still reviewing the completeness of my profile. I faxed in form 4056EZ four times, only because they couldn't finish the review and the form only gave them one month's authorization to pull my tax record. Between September 2009 and April 2010, I made countless phone calls to Citimortgage only to find out the review progress was still in progress. I thought they were indeed helping many people like me who are in difficult situation and seeking help from them. But I was wrong. After 7 long months, they finally sent the whole package to their underwriting team for the final review. It only took the underwriting team less than a week to deny my case (on 3/26/2010). After that, Citimortgage kept sending me letters requesting me to pay $22, 942 plus some late charge fees. I was totally shocked and deeply depressed. I tried my best to work with Citimortgage hoping that the HAM program would assist me during this difficult time. The whole family cut the expense to the bare minimum in order to keep the trial payment. Meanwhile, I have been looking for a new job. Apparently, Citimorgage care about none of that. They only care about collecting as much money from me as possible. At the same time, they trashed my credit score.

Hi Carivos,

I thought I was the only one who experienced this ordeal with Citimortgage. Looks like I am wrong. Now I am convinced that this HAM program was designed to destroy people in difficult situation, not to help them. I think we should file a class action law suit against them to bring these vampires to justice.

Hi Carivos, I am in the exact same situation as you — pretty much in every step! I have never missed a payment, never been late and had a stellar credit score of over 800 when I applied for HAM with CitiMortgage in August. Last week, after processing my application for 8.5 months, I found out that they had thrown out my application due to me not sending in some papers that they had requested. I complained and said that I have sent in every document they have requested and gave them dates I sent papers in and what was sent in and to where. CitiMortgage is now "investigating" my complaint to see if they will be able to reinstate my application again. They are supposed to let me know in the next day or so. I don't have very high hopes as they are investigating themselves and we can all guess who will be in the wrong...

Anyway, if they insist on throwing out my application, not only do I owe them the difference between my regular payment and the required trial period payment of $13, 700 (and yes, I have 2 weeks to come up with that amount), they also have trashed my credit score, which currently are down 200 points.

I just don't understand how this can go on. It is obvious that the banks aren't even a little bit interested in actually approving anyone for the HAM program. If they were, they would approve people as soon as they've checked that they are eligible.

CitiMortgage ripoff #s

Citi Mortgage customer service is the worst in the world. You can be transfered to several different people and all are incompetent! After signing up for a loan modification to help us keep our home these ###s ruined my credit! I had never been late with any of my accounts in the last 12 years and have made my test payments on time. I asked no less than four times if this would adversly affect my credit and was told no, it would show as credit neutral. What a bunch of liars!
So, I contested my credit report that was showing 90 days late and after talking to CITI they updated my account to 180 days late. These scammers have been putting me off for over six months now on my modification. I dont know if it s going to be approved or not. There is not one person at CITI that can tell me anything. I think they just make up a bunch of ### to tell people. Two people at CITI can not tell you the same thing. These CITI creeps were the first to ask for bailout money after their prediator lending practices almost bankrupted this country, now they will steal more from the country by collecting more loan fee's without actually helping anyone. What a despicable company! May CITI go under and all their exec's rot in hell!

I had the same thing happen to me. Citi LIED and LIED and LEID some more. Everything has been a big lie. I specifically asked the bimbett who took the information for a "Loan Modification" if I should continue making my normal mortgage payment. She replied no, just send the new amount I have told you. It will be on your documents that you will receive in a few days. I asked again... should I make my normal payment... she said no. Just pay the amount we ask. Once we see if you can pay this amount your loan will be modified with a lower mortgage rate. I asked what rate, she replied 2%. It didn’t make sense to me but none of these Government assistance programs do! Then I asked her what happens after the 4 months of the reduced mortgage payments. She answered. You will receive new mortgage papers to sign. After 6 months IU received a phone call at about 8:00 pm and the gentleman said my mortgage is seriously delinquent and unless I bring it current within a few days it will go into foreclosure. I said wait, I was processed for a loan modification and was told to wait for documents. He said no, you did not qualify for loan modification. I asked when was this decision made and by whom? He said it was not his department all his job was to collect the past due amount. Yes, they ruined my credit and have affected my business relationship with vendors. This has caused much stress and embarrassment with fellow workers. After talking to another department at CITI the person agreed 100% with me that I was misled by employees of CITI but to protect his job he just could not put that in writing, however he would work through their departments to rectify my credit status as long as I made up the past due amount, which I did in 3 days.
A month has gone by and I have not seen or heard of anyone working on or fixing my credit file. I THINK I HAVE BEEN HAD BY A SWEAT TALKKING CITI WORKER. You just can't trust these people or the company.(CITIMORTGAGE) I'm willing to put up some money and get a good class action attorney to review our claims and file a huge class action lawsuit. Remember they got @ 75 billion to do loan modifications for those that cannot afford their current mortgage or their property suffered a substantial decrease in value. (Thanks Barney Frank). If you want to join with me on exploring a class action please write to RAY at this address ray@vetcorp.com There’s strength in numbers. Thank you.. May the Exec's at CITI sleep very badly every night for the rest of their lives!

CitiMortgage gave wrong information to client

Been trying to work with Citimortgage to try to get a short sale approved for my house. My husband lost his job due to CHF and they have given me wrong information since day one. Everytime I call there I talk with a different person and the information is never the same. They tell me that person shouldn't have told me that. Well they work for you so how do I know what is the truth or not. They told me I had to be 3 months behind before I could even be considered doing a short sale. Now, the next person I spoke to says that is incorrect. I just don't know what to do when all they want to do is lie to me. We are a single income family with medical bills out the cazoo and I am doing the best thing I can. It's not like we wanted this to happen.

I am going through the same with CitiMortgage I was paying and paying and paying to catch up but they just kept saying that I was still behind. I settled for an in lieu of sale back to Citi and they keep on stalling. This company is a fraud outfit and needs to be closed down by the Government. My interest was so high that all of my payments were going to the interest ONLY. That is why I was always behind, they are theives and everyone involved with them is paying OTA and there is no way out as I am seeing now.

CitiMortgage loan modification program - lack of follow through

I have been working with CitiBank since January of 2017 to modify my loan. I have submitted my paperwork with them twice and we are now in April and have yet to get a response from them. I keep being told that all the paperwork is submitted and each representative keeps telling me to call back and that it will be going to the underwriter in 10 days. They also continue to tell me that they can't really do anything for me except to continue to call.

I called a manager today and her response was "I see that you have been calling, I also know that your documentation is complete, not sure what else I can do for you except to have you call again"

This has been a very frustrating process. CitiBank "tells you that if you submit all your paperwork it should only take about 30 days" I am not sure what the goverment is doing to ensure that Banks are actually following through. But they continue to delay and make up excuses while my family struggles on the other end.

Where to start, we purchased a new home in Jan. of 2017 and the loan was sold to Citi Mortgage. At the time we received a 6% interest rate and thought that was great. As time went on our mortgage payment kept rising and I was shocked because we got a 30 year fixed FHA loan. Anyway Oct. 2017 I got furloughed from my jobe due to the "economy meltdown" and was out of work for 2 years.

Now, what makes this so interesting is that Citi allowed me to stay in this house for all that time and not until March of 2017 did they start working on a loan modification. I was still unemployed and I told Citi that I was going back to work in 3 months per my job, Union Pacific RailRoad. They told me that I had to sign the paper work now or they would not do a loan modification. Once I got back to work I was already 3 months past due and I tried to make the payments to catch up but couldn't.

The loan that was modifide, took my balance from $147K to $190. They gave me an interest rate of 5.75% but took all past dues, legal fees, admin fees, and all other charges and rolled them into the loan. I felt trapped because like I said, I was not working, I had no job and I had to keep a roof over my families head.
I applied for a short sale and they said yes and after my realtor came out and took pictures and put the house on the market, TWO WEEKS LATER MY REALTOR RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING THE SHORT SALE IS CANCELED AND THE HOUSE WILL GO TO FORECLOSURE SALE THE NEXT DAY AT 9 AM. I only found out because my realtor called me while I was out of town at work.

Now, that's been about 5 months ago and I contacted them to see if Citi would be willing to work something out. I received an email from a customer care rep. who gave me a series of numbers that did not work and I ended up leaving messages for a lady who worked with a collections law firm for Citi. THE NEXT DAY THE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICES DELIVERED EVICTION PAPERS. I have a court date set for Aug. 4th @ 1:30 pm.

No one will touch me now as far as buying any kind of home and rent me anything without asking for a crazy amonut of money. I really hate corporate America as they have proven that they will sale their souls for money and don't care who they hurt in the process.

Damn them all to hell.

Ii was working on a refinance with citi mortgage. I was just trying to see what kind of deal I could get from them and I decided not to go through them. I also have a citi credit card which mysteriously showed a application fee for 550.00 dollars on my account. This was an unauthorized charge. And since it was there credit card you cant even disaprove with the charge. Have tried to talk to them but all they care about is charging people for talking to them. What really stinks about this company is the fact that they were bailed out by our government in the billions and all they can do is find underhanded ways to cheat people!

How does this mortgage company get by with sending my personal information to India ? I resent the fact that my address, phone number, social security number and acess to my credit report is being put in the hands of someone in another country. Who is to say that these people could not sale my information to anyone else. What does this say about a company who is either too lazy or trying to save a few dollars by hiring untrained and unprofessional and under paid civilians in another country! Shame on you Citi-do you ever stop to think that you are putting your customers possibly in harms way by exposing us to possible fraud by information that could be put into the wrong hands? I hope I can find a way to put a stop to this practice by contacting our reps in Washington-there has to be a law somewhere that would prohibit you from releasing your customers personal information.
You also need more training so that all of your employees can be on the same page. We can make arrangements with one rep on one day-several days later-another rep talks with you and knows nothing about it-this goes on all the time-can you train your people to take notes and post them to the accounts? Its really a simple procedure. You need to get your act togeather-no wonder you are losing so much money-if you get a bailout-spend the money on more training and hire people in THIS country to answer the phones after hours and on week-ends-I'm sure with the unemployment rate so high-you can find employees who speak English-and that we feel more comfortable with -I DO NOT WANT MY IFORMATION FLOATING AROUND IN OTHER COUNTRIES!

Me TOO! Citi Mortage took me exactly the same way took over 7 months over 6000 back pay I was denied I am in a worse off position than before. They also lied to the credit bureau this should be illegal and stated I paid my mortgage late 3 times. Which not one payment ever sent was late. These people need to be stopped. Maybe not paying them will get their attention and then I will be approved for the modification.

I honestly feel like selling everything I own in this house and just leaving it it is not worth what I owe and it is falling apart let them get stuck with it. They will not be able to sell it.

I work so hard for me and my daughter and this is how my country pays us back no healthcare also scams, no college tuition we need to pay this (with some financial aid help but not enough). What we get is taxed more than any other country when you figure we pay taxes on the same money over and over again. and we get nothing in return.

What do we get for our tax dollars that we do pay not even safe travel.

Obama may have meant well but his modification bill put more people in worse off positions than they were before.
Sorry Obama but you failed here.

All we do in this country is worry about health care bills, college tuition, paying our mortgage, the crappy streets we have to drive on, you have to worry when you die. You can not even die in peace here with some dignity.

The claim that an affair is good is just dumb. If you are single and date a married person you will end up with a broken heart. If the person is not willing to leave their spouse first, they do not intend to leave. Would you really want someone who cheats on their spouse?

Well just so you people know, the judge granted me my house and ordered the mortgage company to do a new loan at market price today. My court date was today and in addition to that she dismissed the forclosure eviction. There were several things found that was either not done or done the wrong way. Meltdown, HA...I'm so freakin' good right now. Just people understand this, I reserve the right to talk smack to anyone who talks it to me. Like 123321 said, it's a freakin' scam. I get that crap all the time via email and I just delete it. You can't hold Walmart responsible for something that, they have never come out and endorsed any of that stuff. CitiMortgage house fire didn't stop payment now in foreclosure

My house burned on Feb 1 2009, Called insurance company, citimortgage. According to insurance company and Citimortgage my mortgage payment would stop until final inspection to move back in. I finially got my first 1/3 of insurance money which of cousre as you know has to go to Citimortgage, to start the rebuilding of my 80% loss of my house. I hired contractor and 1 month into rebuilding I get a letter from Citimortgage that my house is going into foreclosure the sell date is March 3rd. Now they have froze all insurance money and tell me I need 20, 000 dollars to catch up my mortgage or it will be sold. I was told by citimortgage that claims department didn't tell the finance department that my house burned and now I cant get an answer from anyone not even the Lawyer Citimortgage told me to call. So please tell me what I'm suppose to do they still have my money to rebuild and won't even talk to me.
