fresh food
Hi, I'm writing to inform Coles of the poor level of quality in the fresh food at Coles Berowra. I have a family of 4 to feed and now completely avoid the store even though it's my local.
On several occasions I have brought home soft cucumbers, soft red capsicums, strawberries are visibly rotten and covered in mould, I've thrown an entire bunch of beans out as they didn't last 2 days in my fridge! The brocolli is clearly frozen and tastes chalky.
This is not just myself that has noticed this issue, I have several friends in the area that know this coles as one to avoid.
I am now using online shopping from the opposition and have never had a problem, the fresh food is mostly faultless and always has flavour. I wish I were able to chose my local supermarket at convenience but until this changes I will continue as I am.
I believe Coles has a responsibilty to provide good fresh food to further encourage people to chose healthy eating.
Thank you and I look forward to your response to this matter
colgate plax gentle mint
As you can see in the attach photo all three varieties are on a stand saying half price 2.99. When I scan the gentle mint it said 7.00
When I questioned it the lady asked the service desk lady and they bother laughed saying no way is that 2.99. I was disgusted with the way they spoke to me and laughed at me. Now the sign only says mint so as they have Mint in all three names how could they tell it was only freshmint. Absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated will be sticking to woolworths in future. It was at the caloundra store in qld at 13.40pm on the 22/8, both were elder ladies and should have known better. Even if it was not suppose to be the other two varieties they are on display with one ticket so I should have been sold the gentle wash at 2.99 before they removed it from the stand.
bakery
I have a major concern and I find it absolutely disgusting that staff in the bakery department do not wear gloves when packaging up the various products that are baked fresh in store.
I have come to realise over the last week staff working in the bakery section cutting up bread and breaking rolls apart to place in bags using their hands and not wearing gloves. I understand that there may be safety concerns if using gloves in the bread cutting machine, however Bakers Delight pick it up with a piece of paper so that their hands do not touch the bread. There is no excuse for why hands with no gloves are acceptable with rolls, pastry and all other baked products.
I find it astonishing that especially with flu season upon us, that you are not taking extra precaution, however it should be mandatory all year round. I believe customers have the right to buy safe and clean food, free from germ and contamination.
I know I will no longer purchase such products from any of your store until this issue is resolved.
coles brand spreadable buttery blend 500gr salted and salt reduced. salted barcode [protected]
Would Coles please explain why this product has gone from $3.23 to $4.50 in one move, either in late July or early August. That is an extraordinarily large price rise. One so large it should not and will not go unchallenged. FYI, I personally have gone back to the previous brand I was buying now and will gladly pay the extra money on principle, as is everyone else I am informing.
I can't imagine how Coles could justify this sort of price rise. For me it's just price gouging. I have seen examples of this in the past with other lines and now take the time to check Coles prices against Woolworths and my local supermarkets. Where possible I shop elsewhere and only use Coles when they have a heavily discounted item(s). My feeling is that two can play their game!
travel adaptor
At approximately 2:55 pm at your Hornsby store I entered to return an adaptor I had bought roughly an hour prior. When I had purchased the plug I noticed it had been opened slightly but didn't think anything of this. I put the product straight into my bag and left. After realising that the product was no longer needed I went to return (same store) where an employee had to call a collegue. This collegue called me a liar and threatened to check the cameras to which I told her she could do as I did not open the package myself. I am left disgusted over this insult and will likely go to Woolworths from now on where customer service is always top priority. Whilst understanding that this issue is neither yours or anyone else's fault, I myself work in retail and know full well not to call anyone a liar! As I've already discussed I am appalled by this behaviour and will not stand for it. I myself have never written a complaint about anyone in my life and I'm sorry to do so but I feel humiliated. I understand now that I should not have purchased the adaptor if the packaging was damaged, and from this I will learn. Let's hope your rude emloyee with the disgusting attitude learns too.
Regards.
rude staff
I am very dissapointed at the staff that works at Coles.. As i was walking past the bakery department of the Coles in Parkmore shopping centre a lady was packaging bread rolls and was just throwing the bread rolls and on the floor. I saw it fall on the floor, picked it up and put it on counter. She did not even acknowledge me and kept throwing the goods and kept talking. I used to work in customer service and was trained to acknowledge my customers. Among being respectful. When i came to the self serve checkout point and tried to pay had some difficulty with the machine. Got a lady to help me. And her first reponse was "Im not in the mood for this now"As she could not get machine right. She printed out the receipt and as she was going to another machine bowls me out the way without not uttering a word. Great customer service Coles. I might go back to shop at Coles in the future but for now i will purchase my groceries elsewhere
Coles Sunnybank - Monday 1st April 2029.
I was going through the self assisted checkout this morning ...swiping my items (about 10 in al). I scanned or was pretty certain all items.
With my items in the bagging items area ... I pressed ... PAY NOW and paid the amount.
Next thing this very dour Coles Assistant woman rushes up behind me and snaps ...as loud as she could
“You didn’t pay for all those items”
Me: “I’m pretty sure I swiped each one of them!
Coles staff member: in a very loud voice for everyone to hear at the other registers.
“Give me that docket” and proceeded to yell out each item on the bagging area saying
“Yeah you’ve paid for that” repeated.
“This one is NOT PAID FOR” and handed meca pair of nail scissors.
I apologised most profusely and said.
I really thought I scanned that. I know I moved the item across the scanner”.
Coles staff member: “Go over to the next register NOW and pay for it”.
I have never been spoken to by a member of your staff in such a loud aggressive and accusing manner.
Very disappointed as well as embarrassed as all other registers were in use by your customers.
I am very upset at the treatment I received ... and thought that ‘courtesy to customers was of paramount importance’.
Thank you for reading my message.
being sick at work
So I did my normal shopping at Coles in Busselton. Went to the checkout to realise (after the lady had already scanned 2 of my items) that she was sick with the flu.
So she is on a checkout scanning everyones items while she is sick, passing on germs to the rest of the community. Is there some sort of policy for this? In my opinion, I don't think anyone should go to work with the flu as you are putting the public's health at risk.
ok, Doctor, how did you diagnose she has the flu? Maybe allergies? Sinus infection?
customer service at the merrylands store
I went to shopping at Cole Merrylands store today, when I did the slef check out, I realise I wanted one more bag of milk, I was half way of check out, and I was with my baby in the pram, I couldn't leave my baby alone or leave the items out the counter, I was trying to call one of your staff to help to get one of this item, she was not even want to help, also She was responded with very bad attitude. I was rush to leave, and then I try to call the store to speak the GM, but the phone was never been answered, even there was one been answered, and the staff was really harsh, I don't have word how to discribe, but I think your inner team can make phone call to see, how they respone customer's call. Anyway, That staff is manager of self- check out department, I don't know how to spell her name. All I want to ask, is this the really style how Coles to treat your customer? Such bad customer experience at Coles! I would let all of my friends and families know about this shopping experience if I don't recived any fair result.
overcharging of items plus insufficient staff to service customers
18 August 2017 - 1.10pm
Firstly I wish to understand your policy with regard to customers been charged twice for an item.
Secondly your Pelican Waters QLD store is understaffed. Only two personnel on the tills and one behind the cigarette counter. Self service express area closed!
Then I find out I am charged $8.00 for a Corn Flakes item which should be $4.00.
If I scanned only one item at the self service check out area that would be stealing or shoplifting.
I believe Coles should having given me the article for free or at least a 50% discount. This was NOT my error.
customer service
On the 12 August I made an inquiry at your Pacific Fair store to speak to the store manager. A staff member advised the manager was not available and directed me to the 2nd in charge, Cheryl. She advised me she was not able to disclose that information. I respect the store's security laws. My complaint was in the manner Cheryl conveyed her message. She was rude, condescending, patronising which made me feel worthless. Every person coming into your store Coles is a customer and should be treated with respect. Cheryl needs strong Customer Service training if she is to remain on the front line. Shortly after I went to Woolworths with the same inquiry. The store manager was polite, respectful and helpful. GUESS WHICH STORE I WILL BE SHOPPING AT IN THE FUTURE.
My strong apology to Cheryl the rude staff member was ROBYN. Sorry for my error, Cheryl was very helpful and understanding.
poor customer service
I frequent the coles dernancourt store almost daily and have never been so dissapointed with a staff members attitude but the way I was spoken to and the lack of care was something I have never experienced before. The staff members name was Kayla and unlike any other staff at the dernancourt coles she was very arrogant and quite rude to me in the self check out isle.
I am that upset that if I see working I more than likely not enter the store.
coles shepherds pie
I bought a Coles Shepherds pie pack 400 g. The only item in it was mashed potatoe with a very small amount of cheese on top.
It did not have any
Beef or lamb
gravy
carrots
peas
All these were listed on the package which I still have.

I bought this product at Coles South Melbourne
This product contained potatoe only and as such was inedilble. I do not plan to buy any more of these Coles prepacked meals as I am concerned that there may be a fault in the Coles manufacturing process
I would like some compensation for purchasing this product.

lilydale free range chicken
Hi I bought Lilydale Free Range Chicken from Coles in Knox City shopping centre on Sunday the 13th. It had a best before date if 15.08. I went to cook it on Tuesday afternoon (15.08), but unfortunately it was already off. It smelled and looked bad. Please see photos attached.
Please advise what can I do? I'd like to get my money back. I tried to contact your Facebook page but had no response.

Self service touch screen display
You have recently upgraded software for your self service touch screens at Beenleigh and Mount Warren Park. On the new system when you are finished scanning and want to pay your bill, it is confusing. Namely, the area on the screen to press to enable payment. Why have an area in bright red for payment that does nothing and the area below it for type of payment in light grey, thats the same colour as the rest of writing on the screen. I have deteriorating eye sight and alway press the red part screen to make payment. Then I have to work what part of light grey coloured writing to press to make payment. Why did you choose this light grey colour thats hard to read and why payment options are not in a bold bright colour? Take note. Not happy, and 10 yr old could have designed a better touch screen display.
expiry of the product
I bought a pack of biscuit yesterday means 14th of august 2017 and I have it this morning 15th august 2017. I didn't check the expiry date before buying because I been buying a lot of stuff from Coles from last one and a half year . After having the biscuit in the morning I left for my collage and in the afternoon I feel like vomiting and didn't feel good and then I came home and check the date on the biscuit and I was extremely disappointed and angry at the same time that the biscuit had been expired a week ago .
customer service and wrong items sold
Last saturday the 12th of august I called into coles at glendale to purchase a few items which included a phone recharge for my 12 year old son's phone, after I came home I put his recharge aside till sunday night so I could recharge his phone to give him credit for the month as I refuse to allow my son to go to school without any type of credit on his phone incase he needs to contact me. I tried to recharge his phone with the voucher I purchased from glendale coles only to find it was not going to work I tried a further 4 more times with the phone and another 3 times on the internet but everytime I tried it just came up with error contact provider or store voucher came from. Yesterday I returned to coles at glendale to inform them what the voucher was doing to only be treated like I was a thief and I was a lier, I was told no refund and no replacement because they assumed I had used it and wanted another one cause I was lying about the problem., I have never been so ashaimed of how I was spoken to and belitted in front of other customers, I am an honest and trustworthy person and as the voucher was a $20.00 recharge there was no need for me to lie and try to rip coles off, it really is not worth it., after 20 minutes of trying to explain that optus had told me there was a glitch in the printing of the voucher I then had to walk all the way over to optus to ask them to try the voucher and then ask for a letter to explain the glitch so I could take it to coles to get a refund or replacement., after another 45 minutes and another phone call to coles and to optus head office, the manager of optus gave my son free credit for a week and asked me to return to coles after optus workers spoke to coles. On my return no apology just another voucher which I took only to try and recharge my sons phone again and once again the voucher did not work, I called optus again and they tried once again only to find the same problem., I do not understand why this problem has not been fixed, there must be more than myself that has had this problem. I have decided not to use coles for my sons recharges anymore, I spent money on fuel, phone calls and was made to stress out from being treated like a criminal and embarrassed in front of other people when in fact I was being very honest and truthfully very nice. I have never felt so annoyed and disgusted in anyone as much as I felt yesterday, what ever happened to the customer is always right. This world is becoming full of untrusting people and that is so wrong. Thanku kindly mrs karon parkes...
Something needs to be done with re-training staff at supermarkets like coles to help staff treat customers with respect and dignity. I will never allow a shop worker talk to me like that again, i am a person with feelings not a lier or a thief. Mrs karon parkes...
strawberries and eggs
Hi I have just been shopping an hour and a half ago at your shop in belmont and have bought strawberries with a piece of brown paper in them as I can't go back and exchange them and as for my EGGS I have bought 2 cartons some idiot has stolen majority of them as I did not have the time to check them as I usually would I am very disappointed. And would like to know what use can do
My God those eggs are ugly! We have white eggs in the US. 49 cents a dozen no less (39 cents last week at Krogers). And of course, they fry up picture perfect. Oh yeah...the doped up libs want those ugly brown things...but they pay $3.95 a dozen for them. Go figure.
cleaner and damage to vehicle
To Whom it may concern
It is with great disappointment that i Inform you on Thursday night 9.8.2017 I came into your Hornsby NSW store to purchase some last minute groceries on my way home from work. I came out to my car at 11.30pm only to find one of your cleaners on an a Tennant Machine Concrete Scrubber Zooming around the Car park like he was on a race track. I then witnessed your Cleaner Come awfully close to My Audi A4 and sit approximately 30 cms from my car with the Scrubber on and flick Debris and Dust all over my car. I do understand that cleaners have a job to do but i was not impressed to sit in my car and see my windscreen and bonnet covered in dirt and thick dust all over my windscreen. I almost convinced that your cleaner done this deliberately as there was just no reason for him to be that close to my car. I work extremely hard to be able to have nice things and i don't expect them to be ruined in the coles car park by one of your employees whilst i am shopping in your store.
Kind Regards
Joshua Jon Balcam
eye fillet steak
Date-09/08/2017 - We have been buying eye fillet steak at coles for a few years now and have been happy. The steak is tender and tastes nice. The past 2 weeks are a different story as the steak has lots of sinew and fat. We have noticed that there is 1 nice steak showing in the package but under the price tag is rubbish steak. Not impressed as we pay 42.00 a kilo. Would like full refund please.
cleanliness of store
On shopping at Coles balaclava store 5 th August I noted the meat storage area in very poor condition.
One storage tray was rusted and appeared dirty and another storage section had pooled meat juices sitting in tray.
I am concerned about potential contamination, infection risk in rusted areas and lack of general cleaning protocols.
I expect that the trays would be replaced with appropriate metal shelving and a cleaning protocol in place.
