Letter to Conn’s
Well one thing for sure is that they have the name right, CONN’S. What started out as a simple purchase (a bench) for the foyer in our home turned into anything but.
After visiting several competitors both online and in person, we came across a beautiful bench that was the prefect fit for our needs.
After paying $50.00 to have the item delivered, since you cannot do a traditional cash-n-carry like all other reputable companies (short of driving 60 miles to pick it up myself.
The bench was delivered within 48 hours and for starters yes, I did visually inspect the bench as best I could upon delivery while the delivery drivers were still in our home. However, as the drivers were pulling off, I sat down on the bench at which time I noticed that one of the leg braces was separating from one of the supports.
No big deal I thought, I’ll just get a screwdriver and tighten it up myself. Wrong, the screw was striped, so I was unable to move the screw in EITHER direction. As faith would have it a representative from Conn’s just so happen to call me and asked if the delivery went okay…it is at this this time I informed her of what I had discovered.
Thinking my issue would be taken care of, I waited two weeks and after not hearing from the rep or Conn’s I contacted her to let her know my issue had not been addressed. She then tells me that she does NOT handle any problems that a customer may have and ONLY conducts the survey. The representative than provides a number for me to contact and report my issue.
After contacting the number, the first question they asked me is why I waited so long to report this issue, at which time I told them the issue was reported moments after delivery. The rep then told me that I needed to call the shipping and receiving department as they do not handle such issues. The rep in the shipping and receiving department then told me that I needed to return to the store where I made the purchase so they could take care of my simple problem.
At this point I went into the store where I made the purchase and informed them of my issue, Ironically, the first question out of his mouth (the store manager) was why I waited so long to report a problem; so, none the less I had to explain my story all over again. The manger then told me that I need to call the Conn’s help line number, Ha Ha, (the same number that I called before) to get my problem corrected. Just before leaving he did give me his business card and told me to contact him if I could not get the issue resolved.
I returned home made the call yet again and a rep told me that someone
would call me within 24 hours, (THEY NEVER DID). Thinking that I still had one more option to get my simple problem rectified I called the number on the card the manager had given me; someone answered and told me he was off that day and every time after I called.
So, as I said in the beginning, at least they have the name right, CONN’S.
Needless to said we will NEVER PURCHASE another item from this house-of-horrors ever again.
